As I barrel down the rails from Wilmington to Washington, my head and heart are full of emotions not felt in years. Who could sleep last night? Not me. Not much and not very well. I know not what awaits me, but I have an idea and the potential invigorates me.

But what is this all about?

In order to restore honor, we must understand what it is, and why it needs restoration.

Honor

• adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of conduct

It is obvious to most that we have not just drifted away from the concept of honor, but diminished the standards by which honor is measured. For this reason alone, Saturday Morning, 8/28 is needed.

Restoring Honor? Does my honor need restoration? An honest assessment says yes. While not requiring an Extreme Honor Makeover, I would like to believe that I am more honorable than most of the 535 Senators and Congressman currently serving in Washington. Restoration, here I come.

Restoring honor is not unlike restoring a car. In my case, let’s compare it to restoring a 1957 Chevy. There are ’57 Chevys on the road that have been well cared for since the day they rolled off the assembly line, and there are those, puffing smoke and rattling, limping along the highways… and still a few others sitting idle for years – rusting in the barn. All of these 57s can probably be brought back to near showroom condition, depending on how much time and effort you put into the restoration AND how much you believe in the value of restoring these classics. Among the tens of thousands gathering on the Mall tomorrow, I am certain there will be those “restorations” almost finished, as well as those just hauled out of the barn and towed to DC. My point here – every restoration of honor is personal.

Restoration is very personal and happens on your schedule. Every restoration will require different time spent and effort expended. This is not something you can compare with your neighbor. Your neighbors, friends and even family members might not notice the restoration until you have finished it. But you will see each and every change. When you look in the mirror, you will see it… When you hear something unkind and choose not to pile-on or better still, when you make the choice to stop the unkindness. You will see it and start spreading the restoration of honor to others. And that is key.

Those gathered in DC this weekend and following us online are not just people who have decided to take a family vacation in the Capital. You are the brave and fortunate leaders of a vital shift in the direction of the country. After restoring your personal honor, you will be charged to carry that concept home and to continue the process started here. You are also obligated to share the concept to all who will listen. You are the keepers and as such, you are responsible for maintaining your personal honor, and on occasion, you will be asked to help your neighbor or a stranger maintain theirs.

As the weekend unfolds, I will share my experiences here and hope that you will also assist in my restoration process by sharing yours in the comment section below.

Next stop, Union Station in DC then off to see the set up. Stay tuned.

This wonderful piece was written by Stephani Scruggs, a National Co-Chair of the 912 Project.

JUST A BUNCH OF HOUSEWIVES

I got to thinking about the movement today – specifically The 912 Project, Unite In Action & the 2010 March on DC. In a moment of exhaustion fueled pity, I couldn’t help but think…I’m just a housewife, how the heck am I going to fit all this into one day? I don’t have a legion of personal assistants…I don’t even have one. I am not paid, yet I am working from the time I get up in the morning until the wee hours of the next. (And let me tell you, moms with children under the age of 6 REALLY should to get to bed before 2am EVERY night….because the kids are going to wake up at 7am whether we like it or not). My kids have learned to make their own sandwiches, and don’t even ask me when I vacuumed last. I’m lucky if I can squeeze in a shower every other day, and my kids think the computer & telephone are evil devices which have surgically attached themselves to Mommy. I have a house to clean, bills to juggle, kids to raise, 6 chickens, 3 dogs, 1 pregnant goat and a husband to care for.

Meanwhile, my phone rings off the hook and my 3 email boxes are overflowing with people asking what do we do now? How do we save the country? Is it too late? Tell us what to do – we need TOOLS! Then the media jumps in to label myself and my compatriots as angry, greedy, racist, white men and calls a vile name previously only heard in XXX theaters. It is enough to drive a girl stark raving mad! When the first call came in this morning (8am on a Sunday no less) all I could think is “I’M JUST A HOUSEWIFE!”

Then it occurred to me; we are nearly all housewives. In The 912 Project, nearly all of the group leaders are women – many professionals, some retired, but mostly housewives. At Unite In Action, more than half of the Board of Directors are housewives – including the President, Vice President, CFO and Military Advisor. The Event Coordinator for March On DC? Housewife. The Liberty XPO Chair? Housewife. Symposium Chair? Housewife. Young Patriots, Education, Graphic Design, Volunteer Coordinator, Clergy Outreach, Merchandising & Transportation Chairs? Yup, all housewives. Don’t get me wrong; we’ve got a few guys thrown in, but we are almost entirely housewives trying to pull off the largest Liberty oriented training event in history.

And you know what? This is exactly how it should be. Housewives are the ones who literally manage the world. The microcosm of each household is the macrocosm of society. My house and your house and their house…this is reality. And in reality, it is the housewives who carry the burden of the future. Yes, the men provide, but we clean up the messes, both literally and figuratively. Vomit on the floor? No problem; get the Clorox. Teen angst? Here comes a lesson in character. We balance the budget and figure out how to pay all the bills with money left over for savings and college funds. A new pair of Jimmy Choos versus Walmart sneakers so we can pay the rent? You know what we will bring home. Homework due or exams to study for? You know we will be there making sure everything gets done. In short, we the housewives are tasked with the future of our children and therefore the future of society.

So yes, a bunch of housewives are running the 2010 March on DC & Liberty XPO. Because we know it takes WORK to clean up a mess. Because we know you need TOOLS to get the job done. Because we know EDUCATION is everything. And because WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THE LOSS OF OUR CHILDREN’S LIBERTY – nor will we stand for the bankrupting of our grandchildren’s future. Because we know this mess will not be cleaned up overnight, and November will not fix everything! WE WILL move past street parties and protests. WE WILL do everything we can to get real classroom training & tools into the hands of the patriots who need them, AND WE WILL SAVE THIS COUNTRY!

So, girls grab your gloves, the Clorox, the character lessons, the budget, and the mops and meet me in DC – September 9th& 10th. We’ve got a House to clean!

P.S. If you see Keith Olbermann, send him my way…I’ve got a bar of soap just itching to clean up that potty mouth!

For those new to the 9-12 Project, this is a non-political movement based in Principles and Values. It was started by Glenn Beck in March of 2009. On March 12, 2010, Glenn Beck’s daily Fox News program highlighted the 9-12 Project and it’s development over the first year. If you missed the show that day, much of it is still available online.

The clip linked above helps explain the differences between the 9-12 Project and political movements like Tea Parties.

Although this website was originally launched by Glenn Beck it is no longer affiliated or endorsed by Glenn Beck and its operation, management and postings are now conducted by an independent group.

Many of you have written regarding the 912 Project website. We can confirm that major changes are coming and we hope you will continue visiting the site as well as contributing to the future of the 912 movement.

Thank you,

From the Publiser
“Why Coolidge Matters” is a collection of essays asserting Coolidge’s lasting value for American life and poliitics. Whether it’s Governor of Vermont James A. Douglas urging that “every one of us could use a little Coolidge now and again,” former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis admitting it was a pleasant accident to discover “Silent Cal,” Senator John F. Kerry arguing America needs a Calvin Coolidge today to restore faith in politics or Governor of Connecticut M. Jodi Rell speaking to the enduring traits of Coolidge’s legacy, the 21 unique prespectives authored by political leaders, journalists, historians and prominent public voices in Why Coolidge Matters present the ideas and ideals of a man who is often dismissed, misquoted, stereotyped and under-appreciated.
Though Calvin Coolidge exercised the full power of the American Presidency, he always held close his small town roots, his concern for the common man and his compassion for those that were struggling. Americans of the day appreciated these ideals and praised him for it. In fact his first major obstacle as President, and one of the most challenging of his political career, was transforming the corrupt Harding White House into a place where America’s business was carried out with propriety, integrity and due process.

About the National Notary Association
Representing the 4.8 million Notaries Public of the United States, the National Notary Association has published Why Coolidge Matters to honor our nation’s only President to have been sworn into office by a Notary Public — his father, no less — at the family homestead in Plymouth Notch, Vermont, and whose commitment to service and integrity can guide us all.
