Local grassroots organization, the Marietta 9-12 Project, looks forward to hosting author, speaker and advocate for state’s rights, Sheriff Richard Mack, at a speech and dinner on Friday, March 12 at the Holy Smoke Event Center in Whipple, OH.

Mack became nationally known in 1997 after he and a Montana sheriff both filed actions against the federal government. In Printz v. United States, the two sheriffs challenged the constitutionality of the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act of 1993, specifically the provision that compelled a national background check on all firearm sales. They won against the government with a Supreme Court majority of five justices.

“Do you think people will expect me to say something?” his wife, a teacher, recalled him asking as they headed south from their Baiting Hollow home. In a lighthearted attempt to comfort her husband, Ms. Meyer assured him they would likely be dining alone that night.

Dear 912 Members:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the planned rally against Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to try the 9/11 terrorists in Federal Court here in New York City. It is greatly appreciated.

Furthermore, since NYPD/FDNY active and retired members have lost many friends and relatives on 9/11, the position of the NYPD Superior Officers Association Retired and the LI Association of Retired NYC Firefighters is as follows:

1. Since Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSH) already confessed to the murder and beheading of Wall Street
Journalist Daniel Pearl in Karachi, Pakistan (see below), and was arrested in Pakistan before being
taken to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, we see no reason why this confessed murderer should be transferred
to New York City to be tried in federal court for a heinous war crime he already confessed to.

2. By bringing KSH and the other al Qaeda war criminals to New York City for trial with all the protections
of the U.S. Constitution, this would not only set a perverse legal precedent, but will send a message to
al Qaeda terrorists around the world that if you kill American civilians or troops, the United States
government will provide you with the same legal protections as if you were a U.S. citizen.

3. Such a dangerous and foolish policy is not only contrary to civil society, but undermines the U.S.
Constitution and foundation of our free society.

Therefore, if you agree that KSH and his terrorists cohorts should be tried by a Military Tribunal and not
allowed to step a foot into the country they hate, please not only join us at the rally planned by the
“Young Americans for Freedom” in New York City, but call or write your local members of Congress
and U.S Senators to immediately introduce the necessary federal legislation to reverse Mr. Holder’s
unprecedented decision.

Jack Coughlin, Newsletter Editor
NYPD Superior Officers Association Retired

The Plan is simple…but requires our utmost participation to work.

The ARC is a version of the Plan. Apparently I was working on the same thing Glenn was simultaneously.

However…there is one problem I am seeing with NC in regards to working in sync with the rest of the country: Our state has a unique political system in comparison to the rest of the country…that favors the party system absolutely, commands by top-down, over-centralization, and rejects independent or third party involvement. I believe that the day has likely come for a third party to rise…or at least a movement of anti-party independents to take hold in the system. This is entirely possible for most of America…but highly improbable for NC. As for myself, do not care for any party. I favor Conservatism. NC 912 groups are going to have to decide how best to navigate the political spiders web we have before us. We have overt corruption at the state and national levels in both parties. I know that there are many 912vers who will not participate in anything unless it is third party. I know others who are aware of the NC petition barriers to a third party and so choose to demand conservatism and participate to ensure such in the two parties…mostly Repubs. I don’t know any 912vers who are party people “just because”. For efficiency sake, there may come a time that we will have to decide as a group which way to go. For now, we should in the very least consider for ourselves the benefits and consequences of each direction available to us. Time is short.

I am going to schedule an Asheville 912 general council event open to everyone. The purpose of this event will be to discuss the ARC initiative. I will put together a 30 minute presentation, open up for 30 min to an hour of discussion, and then we will call a vote. If the vote passes with a super majority, then I will ask for a committee to be formed that will direct all decisions moving forward with the initiative. There are a number of Asheville folks already very interested in ARC, so I hope we won’t have a problem forming the committee. Also, as I indicated before…I understand a very real reason why we are having a hard time getting things done is because of money. This is precisely why I still intend on providing for 3-4 paid positions with ARC…and dozens of temporary and contract opportunities as they materialize. Carefully selected, full-time, dedicated workers (even just a few) will multiply the success of our efforts.

We are making progress with the mapping aspects of the project. Once it is complete, we will have a powerful analytical tool to help select several neighborhoods that will prove to be the easiest to organize. Working in sync with the youth education aspect of ARC, these neighborhoods will be the ground we break first…and move forward from there. Hopefully we will make our mistakes fast, learn even faster, retune, and be ready to cooperate with whatever the rest of the nation has produced by the end of 2010.

I am still making contacts for the educational side of things. It sounds like Glenn’s Plan will fill in the national and historic aspects of the education we seek. We will focus on what he cannot help us with…the “local picture”.

For now…as unorganized individuals…please continue to posture yourself for these difficult times. Please work on your debt, simple acquisitions, reading, and simplification. Focus on making some more money…but even more on what you purchase with it. Keep it simple. Be ready to work together.

All of you are in my thoughts daily,
