“I ask you to trust that American spirit, which knows no ethnic, religious, social, political, regional or economic boundaries. The spirit which burns with zeal in the hearts of millions of immigrants of every corner of the Earth who came here in search of Freedom. There are no words to express the extraordinary strength of character of this breed of people we call American.”
From the same speech: “Can we doubt that only a Divine Providence placed this land, this island of freedom, here as a refuge for all those people in the world who yearn to breathe freely…”
Ed, the character of this website has changed. There’s always been these incomprehsible system for allowing or preventing people from posting, but now it’s virtually impossible to post. For anyone. It’s changed from a forum for the exchange of ideas into a place for the 912 project to post videos and information without the ability to readers even to support the advocated positions, let alone disagree with them. Why even keep the forum format?
Certaintly you’re not afraid of liberal comments on this conservative forum! Why not let people contribute here?
JCS. We are not afraid of anyone or anything. You can contribute (graciously, honestly and with a civil tone) as often as you please. – Ed. (as in Editor)
Ed, you’re alright. I’m not sure though that many people of whatever stripe would agree it’s easy to post here. There aren’t a lot of posts here actually as you can see, or opportunities to post.
I’m sure you’re right that that I can post here as often as want whenever I can log in. The problem is that I can’t generally log in. But okay, this is a privately owned website and can be operated in whatever way you choose. This would be a really cool place for liberals and conservatives to challenge each other (graciously, honestly, factually and with a civil tone I agree 100%). I think that would be great, and if you read the posts here, you’d know I’ve admitted I was wrong a few times after hearing a persuasive argument, and I’ve agree with many posters.
Why not make this a site where patriotic Americans can civilly challenge each others views?
Awesome video and speech. Reagan truly was “The Great Communicator”. Two things stand out to me in the current political context and in this website. One is Reagan’s statement, “Let us make a commitment to care for the needy, …” Another was, “I ask you to trust that American spirit, which knows no ethnic, religious, social, political, regional or economic boundaries. The spirit which burns with zeal in the hearts of millions of immigrants of every corner of the Earth who came here in search of Freedom.”
Reagan spoke eloquently to all Americans. I’d ask those of you on this websit to listen to his words.
Thanks editor for posting this remarkable speach.
