The woman in the video says that “after two days” Bush lifted the Jones Act to let foreign ships in. I won’t check that but I believe it.
But one thing I do know is those ships WERE NOT providing relief for New Orleans. The Jones Act was waived so that foreign ships could move oil from one American port to another.
Please everybody. The Jones Act DOES NOT APPLY to the leak in the gulf, and when Bush waived the Jones Act, it was only to let foreign ships carry oil from one American port to another. It had nothing to do with giving help to Katrina victims.
I love it.. no 9-12rs post.. not willing to stand up for your beliefs
First
Your video is good, what I would ask is just a bit of fairness here. First what was aproved about the well and what did BP do.
First BP drills 5K feet under that water, that is fine just 1 tone PSI, then they drill 18K feet under the earth, about 40tons PSI. Then BP cut corners on the well. This was the first time we as humans ever had to deal with a problem like this, largly because of the following.
1. We haven’t moved off of oil even though the technology has existed to do so for 70 years.
2. We constructed a regulatory process over oil drilling that is a joke, hell we permied the OIL industry to apoint the regulators and even when the industry hired hookers for the regulators and bought them homes we didn’t change the structure.
Granted Obama didn’t aproach this with the urgancy I would have liked, hell if I were president on the 10 – 20th day I would have probably taken BP over clearly at htat time BP was trying to cover there ligal buts and not dealing with the reality of what they did.
Bryan, I’m with you 100%. Awesome post!
Ed, you should be ashamed. You’ve sold your soul for a few bucks. This video is nonsense and really not worth commenting on on, but I will anyway. Obama has not waived the Jones Act because it DOES NOT APPLY. This video is demagoguery at it’s worst. The only help that’s been turned down is an offer from the French to sell us, sell us, an oil an dispersant with an unknown toxicity. Please, read some facts:

But I want to make two comments. One is about the use of Olbermann and John Stewart comments. One difference between the AM radio pundits, FOX, and other right wing sources of information is that they never, ever have a positive thing to say about the current administration. Ever.
The right wing idea that Olbermann, Stewart, Maddow, the Huffington post etc. blindly support President Obama is false. They are liberal to be sure, but they are all are harshly critical of Obama on certain issues. The Huffington Post often posts blogs by conservative for example.
The point is that those people actually have opinions of their own, unlike the AM radio hosts and FOX, who make their living by opposing whatever Obama does, including taking his wife out to dinner (waste of taxpayer money). When you support, or oppose, every single thing the President does, you lose any claim to objectivity, and FOX fits that description.
The other point is that this oil spill has put the right in an awkward situation. The video suggests that our “Nanny State” government should have already solved the oil spill and cleaned it up by now. Spending taxpayer money and increasing the deficit I guess. But our government is trying to get BP to pay for this mess instead of us taxpayers.
So what is it? Do you TP people want the government to fix this, or the capitalistic company that caused the problem? Do YOU want to pay for the clean-up with your tax dollars?
Mr. Beck God bless you and keep up the good work. This oil spill has turned into a political stomping ground for obama and his goonies behind him, and I have heard nothing or no one telling the world that they had the answer to the problem from day three and it would not have been as much a disaster as what we have now . In fact about 100% less.I know you know what I am talking about, please tell america about it and why obama would not use it (the real reason). If he had the oil would all be cleaned up before it hit any land. Thank you so verry much. (sorry about the spelling)
