Arthur C. Brooks, President of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research has a new book called, “The Battle, How the Fight Between FREE ENTERPRISE and BIG GOVERNMENT Will Shape America’s Future.”
This book is filled with great common sense regarding our current situation and appears to align with the Principles and Values that are embodied in the 912 Project. It is a fast read and should be part of your summer reading list. – Editor At Large, Mike Opelka (Full disclosure, YES, I finished “The Overton Window” before opening this one.)

As an American I believe in the free market and Capitalism. But unrestrained Capitalism leads to the Despotism that the right wing, strangely, are worried about now with Democrats in the majority. Despotism by the wealthiest and those in Government they support.
No, that’s no some bizarre conspiracy theory without basis, that’s American history. We’ve been there guys. That’s why we have anti-trust laws. When a company can swallow competitors and dominate the market, they can also set prices wherever they want – no competition. Anti-trust laws are anti-capitalism, but “We The People” recognized that was in the general interest of Americans.
Same deal with minimum wage. We could retreat to the “Grapes of Wrath” period in our history where the unemployed were forced to choose between working like a slave for an income that would not pay for food for their family, or starve with their dignity intact.
If you really want to see the Freemarket at work. You only have to look at the Internet. Yes it has problems. But there is very little Government regulation. It is mostly policed by the people. And the People do a vary good job. If you remember the Dot-Com Boom and Bust. After the Internet Bust. The Internet recovered just fine without any Government bailout. And the Internet Companys recovered in a very short time. Unlike the companys now getting Government bailouts.
