3/18: Tea Party Groups Aim to Storm Caucuses, Shake Up System

Attendees at a Grand Junction (CO) 9-12 meeting told, “it’s time to get to work and put the right people on the ballot”:

“Now is your chance to get involved in the political process. You can’t just sit around and watch Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly. You need to get off your (butts) and go to the Republican caucuses, and you need to put the right people on the ballot,” an emotional Jim Buske of Ouray told a 9.12 meeting that drew about 50 people.

Now is our time to demonstrate against governments vote on a Healthcare Bill that needs further discussion and overhaul. Anyone against this process needs to withhold submitting there ‘census’ until there is an overhaul and actual vote taken. Don’t let government force this on us. For everyone out there who is against this process, let’s all withhold our Census Survey’s. We can make our voices heard too.

jzivkovic, I understand your frustration. But please remember there are 38 States with legislation or pending legislation to stop National Health Care. And lets not forget the States that are going to challenge National Health Care in the courts. The progressive may get the votes they want on Sunday and win that battle. But the progressives will lose the war. One of the things I always think of in time like this is John Paul Jones. His Ship the Bonhomme Richard, the decks on fire and the main sail smached. The ship listing badly. The Capt. of the British Frigate HMS Serapis calling on Jones, and asking him if he wanted to strike his flag. And John Paul Jones replied ” I have not yet begun to fight !”

Article I, section 2 of the Constitution of the United States empowers Congress to conduct the census “in such a manner as by law they shall direct.” You’re required by law to answer the census. So you’re suggesting that we violate the Constitution?

Honestly, that’s not too bright for reasons other than legality. Throw your census in trash, who will know? But the census helps determine how many people are in a given district, and how many government funds are available to them. Even how many legislators a state may have. So you’re not doing yourself any favors there. Besides, all they’re asking (as written in the Constitution) is how many people live in the country. Jeez guys, this anti-census sentiment is just – sorry to say it! – paranoid stupidity.

As a liberal I’m BEGGING all of you conservatives to throw your census form in the trash. And, I’m reminding you, that if you fill it in, it’ll only give the GOVERNMENT another way to deprive you of your freedom by sending you to a FEMA concentration camp, monitor your computer use and track you by the GPS in your car, all of which Glenn Beck only has had the courage of TRUTH to inform us of.

American Mother, I agree with you. I think we all must do first to examine our values and, based on that, imagine the world we want to create. Broad ideas about freedom, justice and equality are a start. The teachings of Jesus are equally important if not more so, at least to me. To me Jesus’ advice to help the poor and disadvantaged are central, but others have different ideas.

In any case, taking those broad ideas and applying them to concrete legislation, and having specific ideas about what our government should do is a step not many people take. They are parroting slogans, but not explicitly defining their values and applying them to the political world. It’s not about left or right, Republican or Democrat I agree completely. It’s about YOUR values, YOUR religion, and what you think God wants us as humans to create in this world.

JCS…….. I agree with you. But like most folks I’m bit confused by your methods. How exactly is it charitable to allow government to confiscate anyone’s money? That is the sort of thing Jesus fought against and was crucified for defying the rules of dictators. Even if they’re the richest people on earth how is it charity. How is it charity to turn everyone’s lives over to Kings and Dictators?

The sixteenth amendment to the Constitution says, “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.” When you say “confiscate” you’re suggesting something illegal. Tax is not illegal.

You have to show me where in the Bible Jesus fought again the government taxing people to provide for the poor. I don’t think it’s there Beef, and I don’t think that’s why Jesus was crucified.

I think our country should be judged not on how well we treat the rich but how well we treat the poor and the average citizen. I think that’s what Christ taught.

We need to start choosing our officials based on who they are, not what party they affiliate with!! Most people don’t know that the GOP and DNC are publicly traded companies!!! So they have a vested interest in making their shareholders happy….i.e. they do what their wealthy “bosses” want them to do or risk being “voted” or “let go” . It’s time for our leaders to get into their positions and lead by the voices of the people…..we need to remember that the Constitution was written to protect us the people……not written for the government. There are other candidates that seek to hear the people, will represent the people….and are not seasoned politicians……let us vote for them…people like us who want what we the people want….stop voting for the Party…..and vote for the candidate!!
