JCS……….. Its funny how you fear the company monopoly but have no fear of government becoming a monopoly.
Doesn’t seem to bother anyone here that the quote was taken out of context. It also doesn’t seem to bother anyone that tea party republicans are blocking unemployment benefits to Americans who are out of work. “Let them eat cake” is what I’m hearing from the tea party. Cool conservative sentiment unless you’re unemployeed and without insurance. I’d like to hear from tea partiers who are out of work right now.
JCS….. Thomas would like to say something to you and all those that beleive goverment holds to answers to all of lifes problems.
“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.” said Thomas Jefferson
Hi Thomas! You were a brilliant guy. But you could not forsee the day when industry could pollute the rivers to the point where the water was undrinkable (hence the EPA) or industrial working condition that routinely killed people (hence OSHA), or a single company monopolizing an industry and eliminating all competition (hence anti trust laws).
I don’t think government can solve every problem. Does anyone believe that? But you know who the EPA and OSHA protect? You and your children.
JCS………… Your naivety is so astounding it’s hard to describe. You have so much more then Thomas Jefferson could ever imagined. Even your water sanitation and food is cleaner and safer. Yes he could imagine it. You just have trouble understanding how spoiled rotten you’ve become. You life is 1000x easier then anyone that lived in Jefferson’s day.. yet they didn’t cry and whine. They dealt with life and didn’t ask government to deal with it for them…. They were real human beings. Real men and women. The people that inhabit America today are like spoild children in comparison. In Jefferson’s day… Unfit people didn’t live very long. I think Jefferson would be disgusted with the lack of self determination of today’s American. You are doing everything the founders feared would happen. They feared you would give up and look for a King, Dictator or Tyrant to rule over you. Perhaps give up is the wrong word. They feared folks like would look for Kings and Dictators to rule .So yes the founders could imagine everything your doing. They even talked about it. If you would care to read what they said…
JCS……….. Its funny how you fear the company monopoly but have no fear of government becoming a monopoly. It’s as if you believe government is benevolent and would never do any harm to anyone no matter what the circumstance. When I was very young I thought the same way. I thought government and politicians if given a choice between doing the right thing or wrong thing they would always do what is right. I was really shocked when I figured out how wrong I was… Government is no better then all those companies you hate. I would say government is much worse. You have a lot of growing up to do. It’s best if you do it when your young. Because growing up when your old can be extremely difficult. It can actually make you lose your mind depending on how long you put it off. Age has no bearing on maturity.
Well, you’ve written a lot there.
Let me ask this. I you against anti-trust laws? You wouldn’t mind if there was a single, say, oil company who could set the price of gas at whatever they want because there was no competition?
Are you against the government regulating the amount of toxins a company can put in the river? You don’t want your kids drinking mercury and PCBs do you?
You criticized my comments, but I don’t understand what you’re saying. You don’t want to government to protect its citizens?
It’s my opinion that if anyone actually wants to send a single penny more to Washington DC for anything or for any reason…. You are a absolute fool. I’m not will to send anything to them or give up any freedom or liberty no matter how tiny. Not until they prove they’re trust worthy and responsible. If they were trust worthy and responsible a penny more wouldn’t be needed. They wouldn’t even ask for you to give up your freedom and liberty if they were trust worthy and responsible. I’ll say it again…. If you actually want to send a single penny more to the folks in DC. You are a absolute unadulterated fool and that is exactly what many in DC believe you to be—–> A FOOL.
These are not new problems. They’re as old as recorded history. Nothing we’re doing today hasn’t been tried in the past. The one thing that makes America unique is fact that its people are free to make decisions for themselves. But when we turn that authority over to “leaders” to deicide for us. Then we’re moving backwards.
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex… It takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.” said Albert Einstein
Good-By Harry. You only have about 8 more mo. in office.
Have none of you noticed that the quote was clipped out of context? Here’s the quote:
REID: Unemployment compensation — today is a big day in America. Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today, which is really good. Unemployment rate around America has not changed. Prognosticators thought it would go up; it has not. So, we need to extend — there are about 15 million people in America out of work. These extended unemployment benefits will help millions of those people.
The country’s unemployment rate remained the same, and job was loss was less than economists predicted, including those presented as authorities by Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones and Bloomberg.
He was addressing Republicans preventing the extension of unemployment benefits.
We’re all free to express opinions here, but don’t claim sympathy for the employed (cheered on by an out-of-context statement) and then support Republican obstructionism of the jobs bill and extension of unemployment benefits. You gotta take a stand. Are you for supporting the unemployed or are you for not increasing the deficit?
Too bad he wasn’t one of the 36,000! Oh, well, his day is coming soon!

Its Great!!!
Sadly, comments like his do not even surprise me anymore. As an unemployed registered Independent, I can say the only good “big” day in America, is the day you and your cronies are voted out of office Mr. Reid!!!!
