2/9: Tea Partiers Want to Be Electoral Force

Connecticut Tea Party Patriots gather to query local candidates:

Compared with the raucous scenes that erupted at town hall meetings throughout the nation last summer, Saturday’s gathering of the Connecticut Tea Party Patriots was a sedate affair. About 75 conservatives spent 90 minutes in a small, overheated conference room inside a Southington motel peppering former congressman and current U.S. Senate candidate Rob Simmons with questions.

The topics veered from the obscure (What does Simmons think about the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child? He said he didn’t know enough about it to state an opinion.) to the expected (Does he support bailouts for big Wall Street firms? He does not.).

On second reading I agree. This is an article about the tea party, not Simmons. Hard to imagine him getting tea party support in any case.

He “favors abortions right.” Doesn’t meet the purity test. Not tea party material, so why is this article here?

“Connecticut Tea Party Patriots gather to query local candidates:”…
It is just a story describing people asking questions of their candidates.
