2/9: Tea Partiers Encourage Energy Diversity

Washington state’s Tri-Cities Tea Party encourages expansive use of all forms of energy:

The focus of the 10th Harvesting Clean Energy Conference is on promoting clean power sources, but members of the Tri-Cities Tea Party said Sunday that the United States should pursue development of all forms of energy to create jobs.“We came to let everyone know that we believe we need all of it. Drill now (for oil), build more nuclear power plants,” said Leon Howard, coordinator. “Solar and wind can’t do it all.”

What is the tea party position on alternative forms of energy? Seems to me the tea party rejects that CO2 emmisions warm the Earth, so there’s no motivation to switch to fossil fuels on that front. Polluting the environment doesn’t seem to be a concern as far as I can tell. I don’t read anything about dependence on foreign oil being a concern.

Can anybody explain the tea party posistion on this?

I don’t think so. I see seven people in the photo. Hardly a movement.

The tea party will never support any movement reducing the world’s dependence on fossil fuels.

      Really?

Is that what you believe in?

Tell us why are you here?

Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing that the tea party will not support alternative forms of energy? I said that as a statement of fact because I have yet to hear anything to the contrary. If I’m wrong, please correct me.

One reason I’m here is to bring some interest to this website. How many times do you want to read “Obama is worse than Hitler,” then “Yes, I agree” before you get bored with the whole thing? There’s nothing like pointing out apparent hypocrisy and making an actual argument (as opposed to name calling) to get people to examine their beliefs.

I’ve seen though, that disagreement isn’t very welcome here. That’s what I get from your post.
