2/2: Tea Partier Runs for Senate in Kentucky

Rand Paul declares himself as Tea Party Candidate in Kentucky Senate race:

Rand Paul is the next Senator of Kentucky. The election is all but wrapped up.

Most people will immediately respond that it is way too early to make such a statement; how can we possibly know what will happen over the next nine to ten months? I will concede the point that we can never be sure how an election will turn out ten months before the vote, but all evidence points towards a Rand Paul win come November.

JCS…….. There is something strange going on with this website. It’s hard to log in and reply to comments. This extremely foolish search people have to find the perfect politician with all the final solutions is a very dangerous endeavor. Do I really need to explain why? Yes that’s right you going to get Adolf Hitler. Your only salvation is found in person liberty and freedom. Not in the rules of a dictator. The founders of America understood this and it’s also why many predicted America would fail in it’s experiment of self governance. Because people by nature seek rulers to take care of them as if they’re child and that is exactly the search your on. You told me once that you are in some respect “well-to-do”… Do you really believe your doing The People a favor by making them dependant on others and not themselves. You may feel all warm and fuzzy about what your doing. But what your actually doing is slamming the door of opportunity in the face of these people. If you are doing this on purpose it would be better then if your doing out of ignorance. Because the first can be fixed but the other can not. I don’t know if your aware of this but in Jefferson’s day… you could be executed for teaching a slave to read. Because they knew ignorance was best way to control them. It was so important to control you could be executed for disobeying this rule. I can not remember which of the founders said this…. But one said to intepreate the constitution in such a manner that you do not take into account the time in which it was written is to pervert it. I understand you really …really believe you’re a wonderful person by wanting to give everyone free healthcare (which is a lie) But you really don’t understand that you dooming the people you seek to help. I post Jefferson’s comit one more time and if it doesn’t sink in and you still don’t understand… I have nothing else to say to you…

“Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.” said Thomas Jefferson

Good post Beef. I disagree with you on some/many things, but I have no doubt at all that you are sincere, a great American and a good person. No doubt at all. You say that I feel “warm and fuzzy” about my beliefs and I’ll tell you, although I wouldn’t express it that way, I do. I have the strength my personal values, ethics and beliefs. And I believe those align with those of the Founding Fathers, although you may not and I respect that.

We have a very fundamental disagreement over the role of government in helping people down on their luck. You believe, if I understand you, that any help given to them makes them dependent on government and deprives them of the motivation to pull themselves up and earn a living from their own effort. I see that and agree. And I know that there is a significant abuse of the system – many people who are not trying to pull themselves out of the welfare system (for example). But I don’t agree that it’s human nature to seek out dependence when they can see any opportunity for independence. My view of human nature is that we all want independence (one aspect of “freedom”). Despite the abuse, I view programs to help the disadvantaged a chance to escape from their condition, stand up on their own two legs and contribute to this country rather than being a drain on it.

I believe 100% in promoting education in this country and Obama’s stimulus package included tax breaks for advanced education. I’m not sure we’re competing with other countries on the education of the new generation, and I believe we have to to ensure the future of this country.
