2/2: Former Republicans Turn Tea Partiers

Michigan’s Lenawee 9.12 Project hosts forum:
Laura Tomell once considered herself “mostly Republican,” but now she’s an independent and a disciple of television host Glenn Beck’s Tea Party movement.
The 9.12 Project — spearheaded by the much-loved and much-hated Fox News personality — has arrived in Lenawee County, with Tomell and other supporters organizing a group they say will push to uphold the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

What does that mean, to “Uphold the Constitution”? In accordance with the United States Constitution, the Supreme Court interprets that document and makes rulings that by that fact become precedents. Lower court justices use those precedents to make their decisions. So a call to “uphold the Constitution” means what exactly? To ignore the laws laid down in accordance with the system devised by the founders of our country? Really what does that mean specifically to say we should “uphold the Constitution”?
I can’t speak for her specifically, but when I think of upholding the Constitution, I try to follow the framers intent of what they wrote.
That’s what the Supreme Court does. Probably better than AM radio talk show hosts too, since the law is their area of expertise.
Why is it that the people on this website who complain about the government “violating the Constitution” can never quote the Constitution and then give an example of how it’s been violated?
