1/29: Tampa 912 Project (Fla.) squares off against tax increase

Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe had a rough go of it when he tried to defend a proposed sales tax increase for transit to the anti-big government group Tampa 912 Project on Tuesday night.

He got heckled and threatened with losing his job when he faces re-election in November.

The big tax cut amounted to about $13 dollars a week in the average paycheck but since apparently only half the people in this country work anymore it is hard to say that it benefited 95% of the citizens. . It took affect 4/1/09 ( April Fools Day) as I recall. It was a nice “symbolic” gesture from Mao bama. Since that time of course, he has continued on his primary mission (bankrupting the country).

I won’t try to verify your figure but NM that’s $676 per year. If that’s not real money to you congratulations. What percentage of your take home is that? And those went to 95% of we the people. Maybe you’re so rich it’s meaningless, but it wasn’t for a majority of Americans.

How much did Bush cut your taxes? He cut taxes for the rich but you know if you’re informed (which I’m sure you are), those tax breaks went straight to the national debt.

    Helped 95% of the population?

Yes< i know, that is the party line.

Now, is that the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

This story is very common from local and state politicians here in Florida. Both Democrats and Republicans have this bad habbit of making new taxes sound like and immediate necessity. When every time it is not the case at all. Most of the politicians ( Democrats & Republicans) in Florida are not Conservative. You are going to see in the next election here in November a major change, to a more Conservative base. Because of the actions of the 912 Group. Florida is broke. We the people of Florida have no more money. All of the jobs are gone. Because of high property taxes, Tourist no longer winter here. Unfortutately our local and state politicians just don’t see it. But they are going to pay for it at the Ballot Box….

President Obama has reduced taxes for 95% of working Americans. We all agree that’s the way to go, and Americans appreciate his work on that front. Or should.

      • Bryan says:

Obama hasn’t done anything to help anyone. The only person Obama wants to help is Obama.

      • jcs says:

Yes, Bryan, he helped 95% of the US population.

Small wonder that people accuse the Tea Party crowd of predudice (of some kind or other). When you carry signs that complain about taxes (see the one on this page), and Obama cut taxes, and you simply say “no he didn’t” you have to wonder about what kind of bias leads to that kind of response.
