1/26: Tea Partiers to Remain Independent

912 Project Colorado Coalition chair expresses concerns about Republicans at Defend the Republic rally:
When Scott McInnis appeared on Fox News last month underneath a title calling him the “Tea-Party-backed candidate” for governor, he triggered a tempest. Tea Party leaders fired off angry e-mail messages and public statements insisting that he was not their choice.
“Let it be known that we will not be used by any party or candidate!” Lu Ann Busse, the head of a coalition of Tea Party brethren known as 9/12 groups, declared at a “Defend the Republic” rally where she was invited to set the record straight after Mr. McInnis’s appearance.

I believe that ANYONE who say’s they are ‘The Head of the Tea Party Movement’ should be laughed off the stage. They totally don’t understand who we are or what this is about! We (i) have no interested in the ‘Tea Party’ being something akin or a sub-group of :the Democrats or Republicans. We are INDEPENDENT, we will decide independently who we are voting for and what cause to support and if we happen to show up and contribute to a ‘Group ideology’ for a time…fine. I for one am not ever going to ‘Pay a dollar up front’ to hear anyone give a speech…I will contribute after the fact if I liked the speech.
WOW I am just so completely astounded how a discussion can go down hill so fast. I think that the Tea Party is just what it claims to be. It is a growing movement to stop out of control government and it is a group of like minded people who want to see the power of government reduced not increased and it does take money to do this. In case you haven’t noticed this country is broke, unemployment is above 10% nationally and we owe more money to governments like China and middle eastern countries as well as many european countries. jcs Dick Army is probably one of the most respected men in Texas and you should look at Dick Army’s record as a U.S. Congressman. I did not always agree with him but he always made it clear what he believed in and voted that way. You should wiki. him before you start talking about someone you know nothing about. Beef I can’t belive you said that about women, it looks like you are showing your true colors. But above all we should all step back and take a strong look at the current government as it is. There are people out there that need to be told how to live there lives in every aspect and there are people that believe that independence is the way. I believe in independence I don’t need government to tell me what is right and what is wrong, I don’t need government to tell me how to spend my money, and I definately don’t need to be a sheep led to the slaughter house. I want my personal FREEDOMS.
I read the Wike article, including marrying a former student after divorcing his wife.
Dick Armey makes his living as a paid advocate of big insurance and big pharma. He represents companies whose success is measured by one thing: profit. The companies he champions literally make a dollar when you lose a dollar. That’s capitalism. Don’t think he’s your friend, or think he’s supporting the Tea Party movement because he loves freedom and the Constitution.
You think liberals are idealists, but I think your own idealism is unexamined.
jcs why do you hate people who make money ????
I don’t hate people who make money. I do pretty well myself actually.
I’m addressing the naive belief expressed often on this website, that Dick Armey and those of his kind are champions of “We the People,” freedom, the Constitution, patriotism and apple pie. Sorry. He’s a lobbiest who makes money by promoting ideas that are good for big business, and in my opinion, bad for the rest of us.
The idea that government is bad and insurance companies or on your side – that’s what I’m addressing.
You really must hate all conservatives. Apperenty if someone questions your own thoughts and ideals they are always wrong.
Judge not less ye be judged
talindra! I don’t hate people outside those who are cruel are abusive. I don’t hate people I disagree. I don’t express hatred in my posts. I’m not here, like many, accusing people of being “liars” (real popular word here) or Nazis or whatever. I think there are legitimate issues discussed here – issues of values, that are worth debating. I think it’s valuable to discuss issues, and give evidence and arguments. That’s what free speech is all about, and I believe completely that helps everyone work toward, if not meet at, a satisfactory solutions. Disagreement is not “hate.”
talindra, I disagree with you on several of your ideas. But I have to admit your post was awesome. I love the facts and your fire.
It should be pretty obvious that the tea party movement is exactly what it appears to be. A growing group of concerned citizens who feel that this country is going over a cliff economically, politically, and socially.
They will remain independent since general disgust with both parties was the basis for their genesis.
The Tea Party Convention isn’t doing so well according to the main stream media.
Thats why know one ever watches the main stream media anymore. Have you seen there ratings ? They have been lying to the american people for years. Look at what they tryed to do to Bush.
As far as Bush, you mean all that stuff about WMD and going to war under false pretenses? Yeah, they did make a pretty big deal out of. Like it was one of the largest blunders in US history. Imagine.
Why is it Tea Party people love the word “lie” so much?
On the Tea Party Convention, stay tuned. Or google it. Even Bachman – Ms. Tea Party – withdrew from the event.
If you don’t like the main stream media here’s a take from rightwingnews, presumably not a bunch of lefties.

Would you prefer that I say they told and untruth? jcs you guy’s on the left always run to that “Bush lied kids died.” You really need new material.
The Tea Party movement is pretty easy to understand. They’re people that are no longer going to be played for suckers. The words that come out of politicians mouth better be backed up by actions also. It would be best if action was then followed by words. It would give the words more meaning. The People are tired of empty words followed by excuses. Carnival barkers and dime store hustlers are not going to find a warm reception at a Tea Party. The people have been burned too many times by false words spoken by people of low character and questionable morality. So to sum up… if you want to get on the Tea Party movements good side. You need to prove your words are not empty. People of high character do not need words because their actions say it all. The first action that would get you on the tea party’s good side? CUT TAXES. Let me remind you… Your not going to find many people at a Tea Party that are venal. Not enough to help you.
The Tea Party movement is pretty easy to understand. It’s a movement funded by big business and big pharma, to oppose any change that cuts into company profits. Dick Armey’s lobbying firm represents the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical industry. That’s how he makes his money (I’d say he’s venal). And he’s head of the Tea Party movement.
Sorry, Beef, but venality is funding the Tea Party movement.
All I have to say to you JCS is Dick Army and the corporation he represents do not carry guns and they do not force anyone to buy their products. But the people you support do carry guns and will force people to buy their products. Yes I agree many people are power mad. But you should think about what is more dangerous….. Government who enforces its rules at the point of a gun or corporations who do not. I do not know why you believe Government is more trust worthy then a corporation. I feel that your being played for a sucker. Government has convinced you to turn your life over to them … and your more then willing to do so. Not only that you want to turn your neighbors life over to government. You will hand your life to them on a silver platter and say thanks when it’s take away.. I’m betting you’re a woman. Most women in America are trying to replace men with government. It’s a bad move. I’d rather be suckered by a corrupt corporation rather then a corrupt government who has absolute control of my life. I’m just dealing with reality here… you may get the impression that I’m defending lobbiest like Dick Army. I am not. But I do know which of the two are more dangerous and I don’t not want either one in control of my life. Like I’ve told you before you need to try and see the big picture instead of focusing on details. It’s my contention that most of these problems have been created by government. You may ask why would they do that? Because they know at the end of the day you will give your life to them and you will not be respected for doing so. Government is like a corporation and business is good when life becomes hard for The People. Some will even create hardship and pretend to be your savior.
The way to build something is not to tear down everything around you so that nothing is left expect for you. That’s what is happening in America. It takes a very long time to grow a tree and just a few seconds to cut it down. I suspect none of this will soak in because you appear to have another agenda other then the freedom and liberty of The People
You make so many broad, sweeping statements I don’t know where to begin.
Yes, “the government” can use guns if needed to enforce the laws. Enforcement of laws is the purpose of the Executive branch of the government, Article 2, Clause 4 of the US constitution. I thought conservatives were strong “law and order” people, so I honestly don’t know where you’re coming from. So the laws shouldn’t be enforced? That form of government is called “anarchy.”
I’ve “turned my life over to the government”? How?
“I’m betting you’re a woman. Most women in America are trying to replace men with government.”
Watch it Beef_Supreme! I was with you until the statement above. Your treading on thin ice with that one. I don’t agree with jcs, but that was totally uncalled for!
All of the women I know are very independent and proud of it. Makes me wonder what kind of women you’re hanging with!
That sounded a bit sexist to me too.
That was a sweeping statement. Armey head of the tea party movement?
I wonder how one can reach that conclusion.
But then, to each his own.
SoItGoes, you’re right. Saying Dick Armey is head of the Tea Party movement was a stretch.
