12/17: Critics Rail Against ‘Gitmo North’

President Barack Obama seems to have won over enough Congressional Democrats to push forward with his plan to move Guantanamo prisoners to a facility in rural Illinois, but the official announcement Tuesday triggered a firestorm of criticism that could undercut his stated goal of depriving Al Qaeda of a key propaganda point.
Our Founding Fathers would be ashamed of you. Do you doubt that our court system can give these terrorists the justice they deserve? Would you rather we sacrifice the principles this country was founded on, and behave like some Third World dictator, and shoot these guys in the dead of night? You should be ashamed of yourselves. Our country is stronger than that. We should not be afraid that our legal system can’t deal with murderers of any stripe. I’m not.
Do you think our founding fathers would be willing to spend over a billion dollars in doing so? We already paid a nice chunk of tax payer money on Guantanamo. Why WASTE over a billion dollars to bring them here? There is no need for it.
These terrorists DO NOT deserve our rights!
Explain to me how giving them visitation rights is going to protect our country? How will this make us safer?
They are just trying to crack at the Bush administration so they can keep their far far left voters happy.
These are not criminals. They are P.O.W.s and should be tried in a military court and hung short after. They should not be another burden on the tax payers.
Could it be that they are moving these criminals to Illinois to replace those that now hang out in the White House?
I have to disagree that they are a bunch of screw up’s, these people know exactly what they are doing with these prisoners. They want the radical muslim agenda to be heard, they want these people to have the same rights as we do. This adminstration is sympathetic to the muslim cause and will do everything they can to promote it! Think about it, if the court releases any of the people on a legal point, (ie violation of ther rights, etc,) and orders their immediate release, where do you think they will be released. How long would it take for them do disappear into our population? Never underestimate this bunch, though sometimes it may seem crazy to us, “everything” they do has a purpose, most of which is to promote their adjenda, none of which is good for our country!
Why would you EVER want the GITMO prisoners in the USA.Obama and his team are a bunch of screw ups. The minute they get here they get the same rights we have. it would make Ill a prime target….
