11/23: Glenn Beck Reveals The Plan in Open Letter
Posted by Editor on November 23, 2009 · 27 Comments
Friends,
What an amazing few days on the road this has been. Your spirits have been high, your faith strong and your spine unbendable. I ended my multi-day book tour at The Villages with what had been billed as a rally but could be better described as a candid citizen-to-citizen chat.
Today, I have stopped looking for a leader to show us the way out because I have come to realize that the only one who can truly save our country… is us. To change America’s course we need to change ourselves, our expectations and our willingness to accept the unacceptable. When we refuse to allow our children to receive a trophy for participation, we are on the road to restoring the meaning of merit in our Republic. When we insist that no one is too big to fail, we will be able to learn from our mistakes, and when we demand that we are self-reliant, we will ensure that others can rely on us, not the government.
There is much to do, much to learn and time is of the essence. While I will be explaining the entire Plan over the coming weeks and months, I did want to give you a preview of some of the highlights:
- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country. The first one will be in Orlando at UCF Arena on March 27th. You will also be able to vote to have a convention in your region by clicking here.
- I have begun meeting with some of the best minds in the country that believe in limited government, maximum freedom and the values of our Founders. I am developing a 100 year plan. I know that the bipartisan corruption in Washington that has brought us to this brink and it will not be defeated easily. It will require unconventional thinking and a radical plan to restore our nation to the maximum freedoms we were supposed to have been protecting, using only the battlefield of ideas.
- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.
Glenn Beck

I was actually trying to post on the radio show comment thread that had a more directly related comment on it, but alas, that page does not seem to want to recognized me as logged in. The poster was saying that they hoped that these conventions would be recorded and available in DVD/blu-ray format so everyone that might not be able to attend could be up to speed. I second that motion.
Also, there is an idea I would really like to see happen. I think someone should create some mini-lessons in video form, that are somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes that cover basic topics, such as the American Revolution, The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Economics etc, as a means for the average American to self-educate themselves. The important thing would be to keep the facts straight and the tone matter-of-fact, as most of the time when people get fired up about these topics they can’t seem to keep their pet opinions out of it, which drives people away from the essentials. They should also stay short and simple, and just have other detailed lessons available at the users discretion. So you have an overview of the Constitution, and the three branches and why it is that way, for example, but then have a separate video for each of the branches of government, and perhaps one on the history of the Continental Congress and the lead up to the Constitutional Convention. Also, a list of self study items, like recommended books on the subject matter would be helpful. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to see happen and would do it myself, but I don’t have enough of the technical know-how, or the means, to make it happen.
wwwexler, Where do you find this fabricated history. The Godless Constitution, The fake history book that does not even contain references to support their argument? Nobody ever talks about the fact that 29 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence had seminary degrees. No one ever talks about the fact that the first English bible printed in the United States was printed by the U.S. Congress for use in our schools. No one ever talks about the fact that sessions of Congress were opened with prayers that would last upwards of 3 hours. It is obvious if you read “Jefferson’s Wall of Separation” letter and documents from other founders, that the intent was to keep the government out of religion, not religion out of government. If we want this country to continue to exist we had better not forget that it was founded on Christian values.
to wwwexler and jcs: here are a couple of books you might want to check out :
The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States by Benjamin F. Morris ……this book was written in the mid-1800s ….just to forwarn you it’s over a 1000 pages and no pictures…. and then the book: What Hath God Wrought! by Dr. William P. Grady ….please try to get these books and give them an honest read.
You may want to ignore the truth and the facts about our Christian heritage but it is nevertheless, the Truth. Actually, I feel bad for you and some of the others who post here because of your unbelief….I have no way of knowing what has happened in your life that has caused this denial of the Truth but it is my prayer that you find the Truth and the peace and joy that comes with it.
I’m sure you are probably saying out loud right about now, “what peace and joy do you Christians have!” with the kind of post that I read all of you putting up….well, what you are seeing is a bad example of Christianity….it is the frustration with the evils that come with the corruption of power….and yes, it is the corruption of those of both Parties….corruption is not limited to to just one of the Parties…..and it is not just frustration, it is also a denial of the truth of where the blame really rest.
wwwexler and jcs (and others), you are seeing a sorry example of blame….”it’s the ‘they’ are doing this or that’….when it is really “us”…..the problem here is you, me and everyone else who will not look in the mirror to see with whom the blame lies. We have given up on our personal responsibilities, just wanting the government to do it for us. Shame on us and may God help us.
Thor is going to strike you down.
Just sayin’.
Where is the word “God” or the word “Jesus” in the Constitution.
Please CITE THE ARTICLE AND SECTION.
Thank you, now I believe we’ve had enough of your BS.
America is and always WAS INTENDED TO BE a place where people could seek freedom from state religion. I might think that you’d be a bit sensitive to that with Thanksgiving right around the corner.
BTW, your boy GLENN BECK is a blaspheming heathen who follows a heretical cult that uses Jesus’ name in vain. Got any thoughts on that?
It’s fairly obvious that you have not read any of the Founding Fathers writings other than maybe some of Thomas Paines’ late writings…..to understand where he was coming from in his writings, you really need to study him before he came to America. If you chose to read what the Founding Fathers wrote about their decision making process, there is only one conclusion, America was founded on Biblical Principles….that conclusion is drwan because that is what they say.
You are 100% correct that America was founded as a refuge from a state religion that was used to control them by a heavy handed tyrant. You, I, and even Mr. Beck have the freedom to belong to whichever religious organization we choose. Being founded on Biblical Principles does not mean that we are subject to a state religion…..in fact, if you would take the time to talk with the theologian of your choice, I’m sure you will discover that Christianity is the only religion that truly gives you the freedom to worship as you see fit.
You will find in research of world religions that there are usually edicts that prevent you from worshiping as you please or even changing to other religions…some at the cost of your life. The Bible teaches that you are a free moral agent and you chose whether or not to believe….it is your choice….even among denominations. How do you think this would be going for us right now if the Muslims had founded America?
In the context of the battle we are facing in America today, Mr. Beck’s faith is not an issue. When and if he attempts to establish himself or his faith as the state religion…well, that is a metter that we will have to take up at that time.
Is it you position that Mr. Beck does not have the right to be a Mormon if he so desires? Or is it just that if he so chooses to be a Mormon, that he has no validity in anything else he says?
Glenn, what happened to the 28th Amendment? Or is the Congress just ignoring that particular amendment?
Amendment 28
Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States .
The opposite of progressive is regressive, which describes the simplistic ramblings of a wannabe demagogue like Beck.
It was interesting that he would use the “baptism by fire” reference, which is straight from Mormon theology. Google it. Glenn Beck’s plan is to turn the whole country into a cult of Mormons.
The Nazis also loved the phrase. The film Feuertaufe (Baptism of Fire) was combat footage of the invasion of Poland set to Nazi propaganda.
Somebody above mentioned “a bloodless coup”. You must be daft to write that. You really have to hate America to believe in changing our government by coup. Face it, you lost, and you lost BIG. Americans spoke, and we elected Obama. Sorry you are unhappy with our decision. You have another chance in 2012.
If we truely want to take the country back we must first accept or true history. President Lincoln did more damage to the Republic than any president before or since. Please Mr. Beck hold the revealing of you plan some other memorial. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or the Flag raising at Iwo Jima where the Quote ” Uncommon valor was a common virtue.” is incsribed would be a more suitable location to Patriots. thank you.
Where did you get your history? In a cracker box?
Patriots support their elected government even if they believe it needs to be changed. You must be a southerner to refer to Lincoln that way. If not for Lincoln there would be be no republic, just a collection of states.
Sad. Our educational system has let you down.
The Civil War was about States Rights albeit slavery was of paramount importance. There have been executive orders issued by President Lincoln that have never been recinded. Lincoln was a principled president, and a very good one. I am not a southerner, but I have read the constitution, and our tyrannical government of today, is out of control. If the Federal Government cannot be reigned in, then this country will cease to exist. That is not an alarmist statement, it is the truth. It is too bad that all of the statists out there cannot read history books, and realize that our founders were staunch christians, and that they set up our framework of government to be employed among a god fearing, morally principled populace, unfortunately, the state of affairs we find ourselves in today, is due in large part because of the rampant moral decay that has ocurred, that is not mormon doctrine, that is the truth also. Anyone who cannot see that, is very blind indeed.
Not so. Our Founding Fathers, most of them anyway, believed in a deity, but their religious beliefs were not those of the evangelical movement of today. And they rejected government involvement in religious affairs – that’s addressed specifically in the Constition. They had good reason based on their experience with a state sponsored religion in England.
Thomas Payne said this:
I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of…Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all.”
From:
The Age of Reason by Thomas Paine, pp. 8,9 (Republished 1984, Prometheus Books, Buffalo, NY)
Good luck on that line of thought.
Remember where we are; we have walked into the Bizarro World where reason is turned on its head by the guy with the microphone and you know what someone said once about arguing with idiots.
Actually, I don’t know what they said; if I were to buy a book concerning Beck I’d try to find one about how the Ron Paul movement got hijacked by Astroturfers and Mormons. I’m sure Mao could have taken some lessons from those folks.
STAGING A “DIE-IN” AS GLEN DISCUSSED WITH DAVID HOROWITZ IS A HUGE CONTRADICTION.
Glen and David on 11/23/09 (see http://video.foxnews.com/11873033/citizen-activism) were discussing the theoretic effects of staging die-ins to protest government or health care proposals to cut back on screening mammograms. Die-ins were sited as a tactic so often used by the progressives. The problem is that this would still be advocating for government entitlements and spending. The same thing the left has been doing for so long. I believe as I think most people in the Teaparty movement/9-12 project do, that we need less government, more individual responsibility, fewer entitlements, and less government spending. We abhor the nanny state that is being thrust on us.
If government didn’t take so much from us, then we would have more money to make our own health care choices. We already have a form of socialized medicine with Medicare and Medicaid. As conservatives and libertarians, we cannot be against excessive government spending and control over us on the one hand, and protest potential cutbacks on the other hand. Health care should not be a government entitlement any more than owning a home, a car, a boat, or going to the movies. We cannot protest cutbacks in government programs that are not even constitutionally authorized in the first place.
Would someone please bring this contradiction to Glen’s attention?
I love it! Mr. Beck will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each to take in his “Refounding”. But of course there is a catch; you are going to have to BUY his book to get all this great information. So much for doing things for the good of the people and the good of the country; Glen does things for the good of his pocketbook and multitudes of sheep keep buying into it. I don’t disagree that things need to change for this country, but I don’t think blindly following a snake oil salesman and lining his pockets is going to fix anything.
How much does it cost to get into your conventions?
Are you going to open the books so people can see how you are spending their money or is that openness thing just something you demand of Obama?
Are you going to state clearly and plainly that you are a Mormon, the history you are basing this “Plan” upon is Cleon Skousen’s history, and promise that your hijacking of the Teaparty is going to be free of religion, free of the GOP Astroturfers, and free of secretive pacts?
I guess since Glenn never answered my question, I’ll report on my website that all of his regional events are going to be free.
That ought to help the crowd size quite a bit.
I just don’t understand why, we the voters, don’t require candidates to sign an “Honesty Contract” that spells out harsh penalties for corrupt acts and abusing their position of Trust and why we don’t establish an “Independent Citizens Oversight Committee” to monitor their behavior and actions and why we don’t demand the right to be able to RECALL them! And, what the heck, why not require them to audio tape all meeting with special interest groups and make them public… simple steps to an honest government!
It’s called A.R.T. Accountabiliy, Representation & Transparency in Government

It seems to me the Founders saw this coming and warned us about it (generations have ignored the steady encroachment on our liberties). I firmly believe that this is exactly the reason that the founders started the preamble with “we the people” granting limited power to the Federal Government” and ended the original document with the 9th and 10th Amendments, reiterating that the people retain certain rights and powers not listed in the Constitution.
We all know we have the freedoms granted in the 1st through 8th Amendments, but rarely do we discuss the 9th and 10th as it relates to the rights and powers retained by “the people.” Since we granted the power, can we revoke it? Can we call the Administration, Congress and even the Supreme Court before a tribunal of the people? They have obviously sold their souls to which ever special interest groups keep them in power. I would certainly like to have that power and the right to call out people who obviously have no intention of honoring their oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution…… Perhaps we should have that included on a ballot to see if the majority thinks we need to exercise formal over-site over the very people who were elected to represent OUR interests!
I think that we need to start by going to our local school board and town/county councils, and protest the governing bodies as they take advantave of the vast amounts of monies that are given to them to institue this program and that program. In our school district they are contemplating starting a “scholl based health clinic”, because the state is just “giving ” the school districts the money to set this up. It is wrong, that is precisely how the government expands their reach, by offering some “good sameritaZ” thing such as a “school based health clinic” where they allow the public to participate after school for a few days a week. “Hey, its free” people say, and they will offer reproductive health options to the kids in school too! It starts at the local level, that is where we need to begin, every free thinking and freedom loving american needs to get to those school board meetings, and then get on the boards of education, and take the steering wheel away from these NEA backed administrators, the board should be directing the way the school districts are run, but so often it is the boards who are being led by the administrators. Take america back by taking back the schools, then the city/town/ and county councils, for that is where you live!
Next thing you know the schools will be wanting to teach spelling and punctuation.
Yes, taking care of public health is no business of the public. It’s best done by the temples.
For our America, it really is now or never…and “never” is too scary to consider. We’re awake now and rolling up our sleeves. Let’s clean house!
FOR OVER 19 YRS. I HAVE BEEN A PART OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO RUN THEIR LIVES BASED ON A SET OF PRINCIPALS.THESE PRINCIPALS HAVE GIVEN ME MY LIFE AND FAMILY BACK AND DELIVERED ME FROM DISPAIR AND HOPELESSNESS.I FEEL WE AS A COUNTRY HAVE ALSO BEEN LED DOWN THIS PATH BY OUR APATHY.WE HAVE ALLOWED OUR FREEDOMS,MORALS,AND PRINCIPALS TO BE USURPED.WE HAVE HOPED SOMEONE WOULD STEP UP AND CHANGE THIS FOR US,PUT AN END TO WHAT IS HAPPENING.IN THE END ,WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN DO THIS JOB.
I AM READY.I AM STANDING UP.I AM FINISHED BEING PUSHED AND LIED TO AND IGNORED.I FOR ONE AM STANDING UP BESIDE GLEN BECK,SHOULDER TO SHOULDER,WHATEVER SHALL BE DONE TO HIM SHALL ALSO BE DONE TO ME.WHO WILL STAND UP NEXT TO ME?

Hello from the northwest. Glenn I could not agree with you more. I sometimes can’t belive that we are living in the world that we are. Everything about it sacres me and my famliy. O’Bama has no clue about anything. All he seems to care about power and more power over us. He and his so called cabinet are really messing up our America and with all the spending and so called tax breaks for the small shope owners who are trying to stay afloat. Well that was a lie I know many people including a person in my family who never saw a tax break more like a tax hike. Then the thought of them being fined or jailed because they can’t give their workers the health care that they wish they could. Whatever happend to having our right to choose what we want and don’t want?
Oh yea I remeber that went out the door when O’Bama go it in. I might not be able to join you in washington next August but you will have my support. I don’t know if my voice will ever be heard but I can try to make it heard. I have one question that has yet to have an answer what part of NO! KILL THE BILL! WE DON”T WANT YOUR GOVERMENT RUN HEALTH CARE! YOU WORK FOR US! Don’t they seem to understand? Maybe you or some one might have an answer because I would really like to know what that might be. Keep on doing what you do best Glenn. Because maybe if we keep at it we can get the right changes and stop the wrong ones from happening.
Glenn, thank you for ALL you do to educate and inform the people of the country. I am ready to take this country back. The more I read about what our government is doing the more angry I become. I am participating in events to help bring attention to our dissatisfaction in government but it appears that we are so often ignored. We need to do more and now! I am anxiously awaiting your upcoming events and please, plan something in Raleigh, North Carolina. You have much support here! We so need to get people motivated and moving in a direction that will enable us to take this country back! The government no longer represents the people – it only represents itself and special interests who buy their way in. It needs to stop and stop now before we lose all our freedoms. I want to do all I can to get this un-American administration out of office; stop illegal immigration; stop automatic citizenship to children born of illegal immigrants; establish term limits in congress; stop lifetime benefits to congress; public vote on any benefit given to congress; put a stop to this ‘global warming’ crap; establish English as the OFFICIAL language of this country and place God back to His rightful place in this country. This is a Christian nation. Thank you again and look forward to your upcoming events!!!
Thank you Glenn for being a messenger of the truth! Keep up the great work, for the truth is the only thing that matters, and it is the only thing that will prevail in the grand scheme of it all.
You posted elsewhere that you thought that the Founders were Christian and the nation was founded on Christian principles.
You are dead wrong on that, the Founders specifically excluded the words “God” and “Jesus” from the Constitution and the First Amendment specifically prohibits the government from becoming involved with religion.
It’s very perplexing to me that you have become aligned with a movement started by a Mormon, who the Founders would have considered to be a heretic. If Glenn Beck lived in early colonial times he would have been burned for heresy.
