11/5: Boxer Goes Nuclear on Climate Bill
Posted by Editor on November 5, 2009 · 5 Comments
In an unprecedented show of partisan arrogance, the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee just sent S. 1733 (the Kerry-Boxer climate bill) to the floor of the Senate with not a single Republican member present.
As EPW procedural rules prohibit modifications or amendments to bills short the attendance of at least 2 minority members, the bill was reported out as written, with no amendments considered or debated. And, while many Democrats lamented that limitation during their speeches, all but one — Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont) — voted to nonetheless move the bill ahead.

Let’s face a few facts here…
This legislation will put this country in a world of hurt.
It will all but destroy an already failing economy.
Energy costs will soar, causing job losses to compensate for higher operating expenses.
The average hard-working American will struggle to pay to heat their homes, drive to work.
The retired who live on fixed incomes will be forced out of their homes, no longer being able to
afford the rising energy costs (my retired parents are contemplating selling their home of 59+ years
because of rising energy costs and rising taxes now).
It seems that these politicians have no concern for the average citizen who is struggling to keep
their home and remain employed (those who still are). They couldn’t care less about the negative
consequences it will have on us all.
Why is it this website won’t let me post on other topics?
That’s a slant. There was “not a single Republican member present” because they boycotted the meeting.
There’s a problem getting bipartison legislation when one party, the Republican party in this case, sees no benefit to doing anything other than blocking legislation.
“blocking legislation”……have the democrates ever blocked legislation?
Sure they have.
