Glenn Beck: While it’s fantastic that [the White House] “saved” 650,000 jobs, how do you explain the 2.7 million jobs lost since the stimulus?
How about this: Do you know anyone — anyone — who’s out there saying: “Times are great. My small business is expanding”? Do you know anyone saying: “I just can’t keep up with all the job offers”?
I don’t either.

Blazen. Before you become a non-believer in what Glenn Beck says maybe you should check out everything he says and try to disprove it. You can’t. What he is telling you, me and anyone listening is true. So before you “spoof” at what he has to say, try taking each statement and check out your facts. Merely saying I don’t believe you, or what a way to put money in the bank is being a non-patriot. Do your homework before trying to discredit anyone.
One more thing, some of these things our government does to shock us is only a distraction from what they are really doing that they are not telling us. They create a distraction while they steal the money. Who do you think is really behind letting these expert money launderers into our country?
I’m tired of the government trying to figure out how they are going to get their hands on the little bit of money I have left after paying bills. If they had their way, I would not have any money for paying any bills. That is what’s going to happen if they try to force us to pay into health care. Do they not understand, that I have nothing left to get, they have already taken it all. I don’t take out health insurance at work because the electric company gets all my money in the summer time. They forced everybody to take auto insurance and now if you get stopped where I live without auto insurance, they will tow your car. This health care is just another way for them to get their hands on your money again. I believe that there should be some form of health care for people that can’t afford it but they are going to have to come up with something better. I don’t understand all this flip flopping all the government agencies have been doing either. Since we owe China and everybody money has our country been infiltrated, is that why we are headed toward socialism and maybe perhaps communism? Whose really running our country behind the scenes? Or, maybe the people running our country or those few elite that have all the money. Hmmm!
Obama has not saved anything. We are hitting new highs in unemployment. We have clowns blaming this on Bush and the wealthy. I only wish that some of the respondents here would quit drinking the kool aid and get an education.
The crash of the mortgage industry can be laid directly at the feet of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. The Community Reinvestment Act pushed for more and more lax standards in lending. That happened long before Bush.
The economic acumen in some of these statements would wash you right out of Economics 101.
Point the finger in the right direction… Right!
1. Bush tax cuts (on the rich) who use more of this country’s resources and infrastructure than the poor combined. So how does that warrant a tax cut?
2. The Iraq war costing 1.5T wasted, gone, down the drain with no benefit to the American people or improvement national security. The terrorists are “that a way” Afghanistan. We knew even then so why did we invade… Dare I say oil. I mean Iraq does have the 3rd most abundant oil reserve in the world. Wait!!! wasn’t GWB an oil man? Silly boy and invading nation cannot reap spoils of war.
3. Deregulation cause the financial horror we’re under today. It happened under Republican rule, therefore republican resposibilty. Might I draw up an analogy… Say you ignore the engine lights on your ford focus and it shuts down… You have to spend money to fix it right? Point… U can’t get a free fix! (stimulus) only of which 15% has been allocated. OMG big spending!!!! We still have 85% of it!
Off subject… Cable news agencies make money of ads, right? Yes, no maybe so?. Yeah they do, how do they garner ads… Ratings! They will say anything to keep you watching. And that distorts the news as honest journalistic principles take a back seat to chi ching $$$$. So Mr Beck can serve you up a plate propaganda and a side order of scare tacticts than laugh at 2am when his direct deposits clear.
If Bush started the fire, Obama is throwing gas on it.
OMG! Housing deregulation started during the Clinton administration. And then during the Bush administration, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should have been paying attention to what was going on.
The nite results began being posted of Mr. Obama’s election there began rumors of oilfield businesses possibly closing their doors and/or sell-outs. over the next few months/weeks, this proved to be a fact, not just a rumor. I will not mention any specific companies but I saw for myself such here in west Texas. The one major reason for such was due to the fact of Mr. Obama’s stand on fossil fuels and their uses. My brothers and I have chosen to stay in it and continue to work. But more eqipment tends to go over seas where more oilfield work tends to be. We have kept low overhead to help weather such and so far is working. But there are many unemployed here in west Texas simply because of employers lack of faith in Mr. Obama’s support for oilfield industry. So, in my oppinion, I feel he (Mr. Obama) should get these unemployed workers and any others nationwide their jobs back before he can claim success. Must get back to work. Thanx for your time.
It’s not news to me that this administration exaggerates, uses equivocal language such as “saved” jobs, and other rhetorical strategies in order to manipulate the public’s perception of the dismal truth. In fact, that’s all they have going for them–talk–which, by the way, is *very* *very* cheap. And this type of talk, sadly, works off of the hidden premise that the public, we the people, are rather obtuse, and it is insulting. It is going to backfire on this administration. People can see that very little progress has been made, and quite a few of us do regard Obama praising his administration’s accomplishments w/ our jaws on the floor. That’s because his rhetoric, against the truth, sounds like plain old *lying* to me. Nothing fancy there. Right, Glenn!
I work in purchasing. I purchase electrical equipment. I can tell you that I have watched several vendors go out of business as well as all of them struggling. Everyone is slow if they are hanging on. Manufacturers that used to stock items are waiting for orders to be placed. It’s bad enough that if things don’t get better more and more of these vendors that have been around for decades will be closing up shop. The sad fact is that all anybody looks at is the people who have lost jobs. What about the scores of people who are small and medium business owners that are taking a huge hit just to keep their business open and their workers employed. People are making sacrifices daily to make it work and that aspect of this is not being looked at. We are on the edge and if something doesn’t improve soon those who have been hanging on will be lost.
Our Government has been screwing us for years. Republicans and Democrats alike. It is no one parties,
fault. They are both to blame. We the People are to blame for trusting them and not paying closer attention. We need to accept responsibility for what we have created and put it right. We need to change our political system, just like we need to overhaul the tax system. Every citizen of this country deserves opportunity. What then then do with it is their consequence.
We need to clean house and find a whole bunch of good honest joes to run our country…..but the the larger question is do they exist anymore. It is all about greed. All about a fast buck. All about the almighty buck….well, all of you senators and congressmen, what is the value of the almighty buck now? Every campaign is nothing but smear this and dig up that and your fat and your a loser… Jeepers, don’t people have a brain anymore? We the People cannot ever be uninvolved again. The American Citizen has to stand up and proclaim what is ours and stand for what is right and most of all TRUST OUR GOD. We need to push back as we are now the minority.
I’m starting to believe that there will be two countries formed here before this is all over and the US as we know it will be half its size. But, believe me,
I will live on the side of freedom and RESPONSIBILITY!!!!
There are some good joes out there that could run our country. Ron Paul was one of them. He wanted to go back to the good old family values of doing things. The only problem with getting a good old joe to run the country is that somebody would shoot them. They have had their hand in the cookie jar for so long now, do you really think that they would let a good old joe run the country and take that a way from them? If you want to understand them, then think like a criminal.
We actually started a web design company in February and while things are definitely tight, we are growing rapidly. It means working long hours six days a week, but we’re doing well and it’s because we’re working hard. Not because the government “saved” our jobs. We went out and made our own.
I am really lucky to be where I am, doing what I love. I really feel for everyone that is struggling to find work.
In my opinion, we have been on a downward spiral for many, many years. When our leaders became far more loyal to “their” party and less loyal to the Americans they serve, taxes went up and leadership went down. Here’s a list of taxes that I can think of we Americans pay: FEDERAL INCOME TAX, STATE INCOME TAX, CITY-COUNTY TAX, PROPERTY TAX, SALES TAX, AD VALOREM TAX, FUEL TAX, LODGING TAX, AIR FARE TAX, DISPOSING OF TIRES, ETC. TAX, SOCIAL SECURITY TAX, MEDICARE TAX, EXCISE TAX, EMPLOYMENT TAX, UNEMPLOYMENT TAX, FOREIGN TAX. ETC., ETC., ETC……….Add it all up and you will find 50 to 60% of every dollar$$$$ you earn goes to pay some form of tax. Is this what our founding fathers had in mind? Bottom line, your leaders are spending your money to buy their votes so they can stay in office to do it all over again !!!!!!!!! Americans, let’s stop dividing each other along party lines. Instead let’s come together and make our voices heard. Divided… politics win, United…America wins !!!!!!
I bet if every state could uphold thier immigration policies, and i dont mean just e-verifiy,i bet we could find millions of jobs.Bush started this by playing off as jobs americans dont wont, well i know a lot of carpenters, drywall finishers, bricklayers and so on whom would love to have thier jobs and a living wadge back. Our economy will never get back to normal when at least 1/4 of our wadges earned are tax free and on the way out of the united states.
Don’t blame it all on the aliens that are over here. A lot of company owners sent their plants and factories overseas where they are paying foreign workers cheaper wages. If the American people are going to survive, then, we are going to have to create new jobs or bring those jobs back from the foreign countries. If any new jobs are created here, then, it’s just a matter of time and they will go over seas too. New laws need to be created to keep these jobs from going outside the country. Everybody wants to get rich by sending these jobs over seas where they pay the employees cheap wages. They are already rich, they want more money. They really don’t care where these jobs end up at now because of the internet. It’s global marketing. Anybody can order anything from anywhere in the workd now through the use of the internet. I believe they are trying to spread these jobs throughout the world.
I’m working, my husband is not. I won’t be working very much this winter – I work in a hotel which always loses business during the winter months. The only thing that’s saving our butts is our house is mortgage free.
Businesses are closing all around us, nothing new is opening in their place. By the way – we live in a very small dieing town. Less than 500 people and losing…..
I feel your pain and i hope things will get better for you and the town your from.
Blazen,
I work in commercial real estate and we ( the company I work for) specialize in retail. We see plenty more people going out of business then staying in or expanding. Maybe the company you work has seen a 10% increase fo,r the time being but your 1 company does not speak for the country. I’m sure you also think that the 85% of the country that works their rear end of for Healt Care, should have to pay for the 15% that doesn’t. You need to wake up out of your dream world…………
Thank you for everything you do Glenn. Keep up the good work. Not only does your voice mean so much to so many, but you have given those people the motivation to make their own voices heard. Average people like me who have never spoken up before. Many people have started and will continue to question with boldness, and speak without fear. You have forever changed the lives of many. Because of that we are forging ahead, and working to save our nation. I hope you read this. In the vast sea of negativity, it is nice to find and know the truth of a positive word. Keep your chin up. May God bless you and your family.
My husband has been job hunting for 9 months now since being the victim of the crumbling new housing market. We’ve lost count of the number of applications sent, but can count on 1 hand the number of actual positions being filled in our area. Thank God my career is in healthcare and “hopefully” is safe….we see no recovery anywhere.
I hear ya, I work as Apprentice Electrician, and I have been on off work since the housing market crashed. and it is really frustrating that our leaders are supposed to Value Each of us as voters but some how I missed the Part where my job was saved.
I’m a retail manager, I look at dollar sale numbers on a week to week basis. Sales are up roughly 10% from earlier this year. Retail is a primary indicator of ecconomic recovery… People have money people spend yada yada you dig? We didn’t get any TARP money lol, but we’re starting to take applications again. But think of those companies who actually got TARP money… I’m sure they would have had to let a few people go… Tadaaah!!! jobs saved. Love your show Mr Beck, can’t wait to see your Harlem trip on Friday… Did you go to the “real” Harlem… I don’t like political correctness either so I mean the hood.

OBama is speeding our country straight toward Socialism. Wake up you peoplew ho voted him in. Get him and Pelosi out of D.C. beore it’s too late. There is no improvement anywhere. They blow smoke to try and save their crooked faces. Bless you Glenn Beck! Keep it up. And for Phil Best…..stop baming Bush for everything that has gone wrong in our country. We were most prosperous under his leadership for many good years or don’t you remember???? Our country suffered immeasureably after 9/11, remember that? Bush didn’t do that. Ask your friends and neighbors how good times are for them….there is NO IMPROVEMENT ANYWHERE. THEY LIE!
How about this!!!— unemployment was high under Bush and both the stock market and housing markets crashed under bush.
We were also spending billions in Iraq.
This is nothing new. Times have been tough for a few years. We are paying for the excesses of the Bush administration. Did you think that all the bank bailouts, over inflated government contracts weren’t going to affect us?
Check your facts we were doing just fine from 02 thru 06 despite higher energy costs and a slowing houseing market . Things did not start getting bad until the senate and the house were taken over by the democrats in 07.
and now that we have the perfect storm of all liberals in control thing are going to get alot worse.
amen and thank you rayfreedom…..
Phlibest did lay out facts.
You offer no facts only your opinion that ” we were doing just fine from 02 thru 06 despite higher energy costs and a slowing houseing (sic) market ” and “things” got bad after the Democrats gained control of both Houses of Congress was a catalyst for the current recession.
I offer these facts
1 – Clinton’s last budget showed a surplus. Bush’s tax cuts and poorly executed war in Iraq left large federal budget deficits.
2 – The Bush administration was hostile to regulation and cut budgets to enforcement of regulations already on the books. This combination allowed for the excessive risk taking and fraud that took place in the mortgage market.
3- The financial collapse happened on Bush’s watch and it was his Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson who pushed for the bailouts.
And my opinions
1- If most of our fellow citizens though things were fine in 2006 the Democrats would not have made those gains
2 – Congress for good or ill has has far less impact on the business cycle particularly, in the short term, than the executive branch “aka” the federal bureaucracy.
3-In this economic collapse disaster was averted more through the actions tof the FDIC, The Federal Reserve Bank and the Federal Bank of New York, all headed by Bush appointees.
4- Yes things will get worse. You may recall the “jobless recovery” in the early years of the Bush Administration. Economists see recovery in GDP long before jobs start to come back
5- Because of the budget deficits we are unable to adopt a stimulus package as large as we need. Consumers cannot lift spending. Many have spent too much and saved too little, others are jobless, still others were bankrupted by consumer fraud or uninsured health costs.
6- Correlation is not causation. The fact that two things happened at once does not mean one caused the other.
7- Not everything is determined by politics. Many Conservatives and Liberals alike have seen their dreams shattered and their lives broken by this recession.
