10/9: Devil’s in the Details With Baucus Health Plan

A Democratic health care proposal in the Senate would trim the deficit and cost less than $900 billion, but it would result in as many as 8 million people being pushed out of private insurance.

What a very inteligent and intelectual mind the senator has. This legislation is to technical and complex. I’m a citizen and won’t understand it. The other ordinary senators we sent to can’t understand it. If I hired a flock of lawyers to read it for me they wouldn’t be able to understand it. The “press” won’t be able to understand it. No one outside that committee would be able to understand it. “JUST IGNORE THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN”….Oh, I bet all the lobbyists could understand it.

Understand this “this is the exact reason why we as a nation are about to stand up and throw ALL of you out”. We are not idiots and we can forge our own path to unified greatness.

For your reading pleasure, here is the text of House Resolution 2454 – more commonly referred to as the cap and trade bill – as approved by the House of Representatives. Please thoroughly read it and make sure you understand it.

Keep in mind that this particular bill exists in 3 other versions, so you’ll need to read and understand those as well. Also, you will need to read two related bills: H.Res 587 and H.R. 2998.

Don’t worry – you won’t be breaking any laws. This information is openly available!

You would vote for someone that has no vision, but over hauls heath care without fixing the existing problems. Result will = more problems and the corruption will still be there and most likely get worse. This is just a payback to the failing labor unions that can’t meet their medical or retirement funds..Sorry you don’t see the game being played on us.

      • Walk Soft says:

Ok I seen that and I agree, but that wasn’t the clip you placed your suport for him with……his health care target was way off!

      • jimbo says:

I understand your issue with how the congressman stood up and said what he said.

But that is the only way to win a debate with a group that wants to say healthcare = death or that healthcare will kill disabled people and the real sick.

You only win by saying the truth as brutally as you possibly can and don’t apologize for it and just keep shoving truth down that persons throat till he is willing to have an honest discussion and debate.

That is what he did, shame you can’t see it because you got warped up in the 1984 type politics that were played on you.

I am not saying your stupid or anything like that, no it is a extremely well developed media strategy or removing you from listening to the other side as anything close to reasonable.

I have decided the President and the Congressional leadership are using healthcare and cap and trade as an attack on our Constitution and our society.
We are being dragged kicking and screaming to fascism.
    We must resist.

  5. Boojer says:

The only real problem with our healthcare system is the Corruption, friviolous malpractice lawsuits and it is overwhelmed. Isn’t that a tactic right out of the Alinksy playbook?? So we are gonna let out government run the healthcare system, Yep theres no corruption there. Why are we in such a hurry to fix it. Oh thats right 1500 people are dying daily because they can’t get healthcare. PROOVE IT! Show me names. Every person in this country has access to healthcare with or without insurance.

This is another step to eliminating capitalism and instuting Socialism which will lead to communism

  6. pkatt says:

I have had enough. Never before in my lifetime have I ever seen America so fractured and broken. Theres a rift running down the country and neighbor is against neighbor, friend is against friend and the president who was supposed to be the great leader to lead us into a new age of understanding, had turned out to be nothing more than a mere mortal, and a poor leader at that. We are at each others throats over a health care reform, that doesnt even deal with health care reform but like dogs scrapping for a bone, we are just about willing to kill, maim or distroy one another for a plan few of us actually really like and many of us dont want at all.

Meanwhile our congress are running around gleefully trashing one another like the jerks they have become and getting absolutely nothing solved. MEANWHILE we have almost 10% unemployment, people are hurting, and our president is galavanting hither there and yon very much like a chicken with his head cut off…. someone please switch him out of campaign mode over to leader mode would ya? It is my contention that a real leader would have recognised by now that the plan the congress is proposing over and over in what .. about 10 different forms right now is a total, undeniable, piece of crap no matter how you write it. It is my contention that a true leader would have looked at his squabbling congress and told them HEY! knock it off, Im not signing that piece of crap.

We will bring you into the enlightenment kicking and screaming. HEY it doesnt work like that folks. So all you bleeding hearts and all you freedom criers unite. Tell them this is crap and we arent going to take it anymore. Lets face it there are two camps. Those that want singlepayer, and those that dont. Unless you can figure out a way to give anyone who wants it..and leave the rest of us alone, then forget it. This half baked cludge of crappy legislation is a half baked cludge of crappy legislation no matter how many different committees you put it through, no matter how you paint it and no matter what you call it. If half the folks want singlepayer, give them singlepayer. Then leave the rest of us alone. We dont wanna be drug into your system screaming. If it such a great system the folks who take it should be able to sustain it and eventually everyone will want it. You take half the drs.. we will take the other half that are willing to quit rather than work it. Sounds fair. It also sounds fair that you pay for it. Opt in.. take that cash out of your own paycheck. But stop with the saving the whole world mentality and leave the rest of us alone to live our happy little lives without your devine intervention.

And Mr president. Control Your Congress! Stop trying to be popular and be a leader.

    • Mr. Harris says:

You say you don’t want to be drug kicking and screaming into the enlightment, or the system, or anything you don’t agree with? You say it doesn’t work like that?
Actually it does. It’s a republic, we the people don’t make decisions, we choose the people that make the decisions, and if some don’t like those decisions, they don’t get left alone to ignore them. I refer you to the American Civil War. Those sotherners didn’t agree, wanted to be left alone, instead they got drug kicking and screaming. Their insistance on being left alone was seen rightly as treason.
People got drug kicking and screaming into “all men are created equal “, into the public University system, into black suffrage, into women’s suffrage, into Social Security, into the interstate highway system, into desegregated public facilities, into civil rights, into Medicare, into alot of principles and programs that alot of people did not agree with. But the majority of people they elected did. If that’s not okay with you, well, every Congressman and 35 Senators have contracts that expire in 13 months, so replace them. In the meantime, enjoy your kicking and screaming.

      • JGuitar1 says:

        Very enlightening point Mr. Harris.

        Here’s a question for you:

Is health-care a right or a personal responsibility? I would argue that my own well-being is my problem and I would thank the well-meaning and uber-intrusive federal government to stay the outta my affairs.

      • davecw says:

        Here is my thought.
Everyone worries about health care rationing. It is already happening. Can you get a kidney tomorrow if you need one? No.
Health care costs are going thru the roof – and it is because we can do so much more… if only you have the money. Need some stem cells injected? How bout we create your faulty organ from scratch? [all possible with todays tech].
        Let me spell it out.
We need a cheap plan for cheap coverage for the “little people.”
Why not make it gov backed? That will help the insurance companies who can offer cadillac health care. Let gov take care of the risky people. Let the gov absorb the high costs.
        End of story.

      • ArdentConstitutionalist says:

There are several interesting points within this discussion.

Here are a few things to consider:
        1. The costs of health care (whether obtained through some government program like Medicare or Medicaid, an employer or by an individual) are growing at a rate that far exceeds that of wage growth, tax revenue, and inflation. In others words, health care is becoming less and less affordable across the board.

        2. Whether access to health care is an individual right, an entitlement, or a personal responsibility is a matter of one’s own personal values. Differing viewpoints, then, create conflict.

        3. Our Constitution provides a mechanism by which we can resolve these disputes. Doing so, however, requires that “We the people” civilly and intelligently communicate with each other directly and indirectly (through our duly selected representatives) .

        4. The most likely outcome of this process is that no one group will get exactly what they want, but that most groups will get something they are willing to live with. Such is the nature of a Union – sometimes you when, sometimes you don’t, and you mostly meet in the middle.

See, for further explanation, Madison’s Federalist Paper #10 and #51.

  7. SheriS says:

Poor Mr. Baucus! I think he gets what he dishes out! I heard his rudeness when he addressed the committee members who disagreed with. It seems the old saying would be appropriate, “what goes around, comes around.” Things could get even more difficult for this bill if people read it as all those people being dumped on “Medicaid” will be taken care of by the states when most of the states are in the red, big time! Guess that is the new way of making the bills “deficient neutral.”

    • usmc21yrs says:

You know we do live in a republic, but our representatives are suppose to be representative of the district we live in. When the rep says he knows better than his/her constituents then it is no longer a representative gov’t. And that is what many dems are doing because the wh is twisting their arms. Are health care costs are getting to high? So to raise money for their cause the gov’t is going to RAISE my health care costs because they think my costs are too low. I suffer from Gulf War syndrome and probably won’t live too long, but I take many pills due to serving my country, now the country I served for over 20 years wants to soak me serving. Thank you congress and Mr Obama. Mr. Obama, I will say it YOU LIE. You said if you like your current insurance it will not change, then why are you going to change the retired military benefits, to raise money for the rest of the country???? Don’t you think we’ve served this country enough already???? Have my health and see if you want it!! Congress listen to your constituents or we are putting you out of office.
