10/1: March on The Media

Obviously, the “main stream” media are hard of hearing and seeing. About 2 million mad-as-hell taxpayers assembling in Washington, D.C. for the largest-ever (most well-behaved ever, most respectful ever) protest did not make it onto their radar screens (or our TV screens).

They need our help. Maybe we cannot repeat an assembly of 2 million mad-as-hell taxpaying patriots in one place, but surely those who longed to go and couldn’t would love to be a part of Operation “Can You Hear Us Now?” I’ll bet for every one patriot who went to D.C. there are 10-20 more who wished they could have been there as well.

2 million? That’s crazy! It has to have grown to at least 6 million by now!

    • Boojer says:

No! The Park Service estimate was 2.2 million. I was there and I asked them. One police officer said at least 1.5 million and another said ” we have never had this many people in the city before” The African American Family Reunion celebration was going on in the mall but there couldn’t have been more than 2000 people there.

      • Atheist Al says:

Yes! But how on earth could you tell the 2000 African-American Family Reunion celebrants apart from the 2.2 million tea partiers?

  2. williamguinazzo says:

Jimbo are you OK with the people at ACORN advising them how to cheat the tax system, their immoral compliance in human trafficing,?Everything about those tapes should sow dissent. Are yo OK with no one talking about it? Why are you attacking glenn when at least he is voicing the opposite side of the story. With programs like his, and by the way most of what I have seen is glenn trying to get the real media involved. Where do you stand on your constitutional rights being trampled?

  3. CARPEDIEM2009 says:

Louize, you say they’ll never listen to us. I say to give them a choice. Listen to us or suffer the consequences of not doing so and the consequences are removal from office. That’s what happened to the Republicans. Now, it’s time for the Democrats to suffer the same fate.

Of course, some of them have tried to demonize those with whom they disagree. This seemed to work for a little while, but now it seems to be backfiring on them. The more that they call dissenters liars, racists, thugs, neanderthals, astroturf, etc., it seems the more people begin to doubt their credibility if we can believe the polls but it makes perfect sense to me. People are beginning to wake up and realize if one has to resort to demonizing the other side instead of honestly debating the issues, then they either don’t understand the issues, they have something to hide, or both.

Also, when we do replace the scoundrels, I hope that this period of time will teach us all that we must always remain vigilant. Today’s patriot can very quickly become tomorrow’s tyrant because of the nature of power. As Thomas Jefferson said: “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutley.”

Read what Jefferson did during his presidency and you’ll see that even he was not exempt from such corruption. While we do need some government, we need as little of it as possible. That means we need to reverse the trend and do what we can to shrink the size of government at all levels. We can’t do that if we expect the government to care for us, but that’s really nothing but an illusion. What the government really does is take our money, give some of it back to us, and then tell us how we should appreciate their generosity.

    • Atheist Al says:

You can always tell a Beck fan by how much they misquote Jefferson.

It was a Brit, John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, better known as Baron Acton, who said “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”, (he even spelled it right).

Thomas Jefferson did not say this and in fact died almost 80 years before it was said.

I know Glenn Beck misquotes Jefferson almost every day, and, I believe, at least once in every book, but do you have to resort to just making things up?

I realize Jefferson was a liberal, some would say the most liberal President of all (I would say second most), perhaps that is why his historical legacy is savaged by so many “conservatives”. Regardless of politics, it is truly disrespectful to mangle and misuse his words.

(I wasn’t finished with my comment and it popped away)
It would not be a waste of paper or trees as is the thousands and thousands of pages of these rediculous bills they’re pushing down our throats.

  5. Cheryl from CO says:

I think it’s fabulous that people are expressing just how fed up so many us are with the corruption and dishonesty by attending the tea parties and marches. I thank each and everyone who were able to be there and for speaking for me as well since I was unable to attend. The talk shows and forums have been alot of help for those of us who can’t physically join in. I think there should be print outs of all the blogs and blogers who are in the fight for the good cause and taken to these events to represent the ones who can’t be there

  6. jimbo says:

Beck: They’re “out to get” me, “destroy me,” “Sarah Palin me,” to “intimidate you”

(put that in your google search and you get to hear him say it)

Heard that part of the show… from well lets just say a different site…. Glenn.. do I make you that nervous… the talk about how your next after ACORN throws O’Keith and the rest in jail… and make one talk about your… “dinner” where you planned out how to hurt a group that you hated.. hmmm wonder.. and telling you that all this defund acorn stuff came from your broadcast…

Yes there is going to be a “RUN ON THE MEDIA” soon… but your getting ran over.

    • JMG53 says:

Are you threatening Mr.Beck? I am surprised they let you continue. You accused him of not allowing people to comment about him or his media but you write this????? *sigh* And really, “little feelings?” Do you have the feeling of empathy without sarcasm? No one has little feelings- not you,not me, not Glenn Beck.

      • jimbo says:

No just a statement of fact… and Glenn knows it… I heard it in his voice in the broadcast on Media Matters.

Glenn know that he is in a world of trouble. You see when 2 things happen Glenn will be next on the litigation hit joy ride.

        1. O’Keith and the boys at Biggovernment.com well they will go to jail that will make the tapes meaningless in a court of law and any discovery that fox may do with regard to the tape will not be permitted because well… legally it is called fruit of the poison tree.

        2. It will be determined that all the actions taken by congress and states violate article 1 section 9 of the Constitution opening up vastly more damages.

When I am talking about Glenn being ran over… it is because once ACORN and the many others impacted by the possible crimes and slanders turn on Glenn he will be crushed.

Like the kids singing the songs to obama.. the recent tapes of people say “oh God” but glen and others attack that group for worshiping obaman.. you may find a lot of problems about crush Glennie boy.

      • charliechatbox says:

It’s empty, without facts – just meaningless comments.
There are very few that will expose the truth. Just like the program yesterday which exposed a small fraction of how specific groups are suppressed. Those who are standing up are Hero’s! Those who appose the truth are Cowards.

The ‘Lame-Stream-Media’ are Cowards, they have no morals or values.

As for exposing the corruption of Acorn and those alike, AMEN! Follow the money, convict all those involved. Restore the Constitution and remove all the frivolous spending.

SECTION 8. The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

I don’t see Acorn, SEIU, NEA or any of the Like in there! I don’t see anything in the Constitution that says we the Tax Payers need to pay for: Welfare or Foreign Aid. “Welfare” for our Country, not for non-productive citizens who do not contribute.

If you want to donate to a cause, that’s the choice of a Citizen – NOT the Government – this Administration has become the most corrupt in History.

      • winecup says:

I failed to see the “lies” in any recent article about insider ties between ACORN and the White House, there were some inaccuracies, but the tie was there nevertheless. However, what I think is really curious is, does this sound to anyone like Rathke himself is accusing the administration of throwing people under buses?

“Patrick was never on the staff of ACORN,” Rathke wrote. “I double checked with people I still know there, and it appears that I dropped a stitch there. Hopefully my misstatement won’t lead to the White House throwing him in front of the bus in this rush to neo-McCarthyism that has become so prominent. In this case, my memory tricked me. I’m glad to carry the weight and simply say I made a mistake, and damned if I’m not sorry and hope no damage is done to a good man doing a hard job.”

      • jimbo says:

you two should review Article 1 section 9

        that is what was unconstitutional

it now appears that California will be state #2 to file charges against O’Keith and the others.. that will be 3 of the 5 tapes that will shortly be declared illegal possibly criminal

    • Boojer says:

Sounds like Jimbo is upset that Fox news aired this about a week before his precious fringe media was froced to run it so they could explain why the senate defunded these criminals. Why would the Kids who exposed them go to jail, 60 minutes lead the way with kind of exposure tactics and the liberal media ate it up. They were using the Alinksy playbook against the ACORN and the fringe media got caught up in it. Oh my!

  7. jimbo says:

strange how Glen won’t post his “one thing” on his 9 – 12 project… 2nd day from the time I showed how he lied 10 times in 16 minutes.. that must suck.

March on the media, why won’t GLEN let people comment about him.. you know.. his media…

I may have hurt his little feelings…

    • Boojer says:

You’re commenting abut Glen here and I don’t see the admins supressing your posts.

Since ACORN is such a wonderful group should all of the charges be dropped, funding reinstated and those bad bad kids be sent to jail forever??

      I will await your response.

  8. deepthought says:

Rally’s are one thing. People rarely pay attention to rally’s.

What you do with those special days where “Vote Here” means something will have far more impact than any rally ever would.

“Tea Party’s” make me feel like I should be asking for cake to go with my tea. You want to make them take you seriously, get those 100 friends to throw out any incumbant that has used pork to ‘buy votes’. You’ll have their undivided attention then.

  9. MyrmidoNOT says:

Regardless of the actual count (in D.C.)……I KNOW we had over 250 in our little ‘get together’ in Iron Mountain; and YES I wish I could have been in the Capital…. Too bad we do not have a national tally….as it would be nice to have a TOTAL of “all that did-what-they-could”…..

It was nice to have various people talking, listening, and actually being civil. What a concept!

    • lafingguy45 says:

MyrmidoNOT: I too, went to the Tea Party in Iron Mountain Mi. and I am looking forward to attend more in the future. This government is way out of control and needs to be stopped. They do not represent “We The People”. When 2010 comes up, I hope the folks that get elected have the guts to start some investigations going and clean house.Time to quit funding all these communist groups(NAACP, ACLU,ACORN,etc.)Also get rid of the lobbyist. There are way to many lawyers corrupting this country.I too wanted to go to Washington DC for the Tea Party rally. It would have been easy if there were a bunch of us car pooling.I am waiting with a bucket of tar and a bag of feathers.

      • MyrmidoNOT says:

lafingguy45: “This government is way out of control and needs to be CHANGED” may be more accurate. (They cannot “represent us” if they aren’t even LISTENING….)

To the point of the ‘lead article’……how can they consider ‘listening’ when the media won’t even acknowledge ‘how many’…..?!

Have tried, repeatedly, to meet with ANY of my representatives; and not ONE, will. (It’s like the great void.)

But ‘keeping the focus’: It sure would be nice to KNOW the ‘national’ total of “Tea Party” attendees.

……and sorry, your ‘tar’ will congealed, WAY before “they will allow us” to apply it…..which is the problem. (And I do NOT advocate “throwing” the bucket……but maybe the “feathers”?)

  10. GeezLouize says:

#repbear – They will Never, Ever listen to us. We do not fit into their plans of controlling us. They do not want are opinions. They would rather do what THEY THINK IS BEST FOR US. They want us to be QUIET and just willing go along with their plans.

  11. GeezLouize says:

If our President doesn’t like what General McChrystal is telling him, then he should Fire Him. Maybe, President Obama should send his Radical FarLeft Advisors to Afghanistan to size up the situation. It is CRYSTAL CLEAR to me this President is an UNSTABLE MAN. Look at him for yourself, he can’t decide on what to do. He isn’t a Leader, he is being led around by the nose by his radical, Socialist Friends. Idiots!

  12. REPBEAR says:

If they don’t listen to us people might consider that there might have to be a more forcefull protest in the future. This concerns me and I hope they will listen.

  13. rhbrant says:

It really didn’t hit me how many people I represented by being just one more person in Washington DC on 9/12 until my return trip.

I had stopped at a Microbrewery to pick up several cases of beer my friends had requested when the young lady working at the brewery’s beer store wondered if I’d come all the way from Wyoming to buy their beer. When I told her that I was actually on my way back to Wyoming from Washington DC she paused for a moment, pondering the distance I’d driven, then suddenly and excitedly asked if I was at the “rally”. When I told her that was why I was there, she was overjoyed. She thanked me profusely for being there on behalf of all those who couldn’t make it because they couldn’t get the time off or couldn’t afford to go. She and several of her friends had really wanted to go, but couldn’t. She was almost in tears as she thanked me again, and to be honest with you, so was I.

Since then, I’ve received emails from concerned friends who also wished they could have been there and I was there to represent them. If all those who wanted to go to DC on 9/12 had actually been able to make it there, we could have dismantled the entire town brick by brick and carried it all off to some place far less corrupt to rebuild it all over again.

  14. Joe Dirt says:

I don’t watch MSM any longer anyhow…once in a while I will tune to a local channel to get the weather or local news but that’s it…too much fluff and not enough stuff…Who cares if Tom Delaney can dance or not?
That is what the MSM cares about.

    • slowboris2go says:

Lol, I saw that, in some channel.

    • Atheist Al says:

      Who is Tom Delaney?

      • jcs says:

Tom Delay is just another Acorn member charged with money laundering and conspiracy to violate election laws. He connected to the Obama administration I’m sure. Or some administration. He’s now a dancer and pundit and is awaiting trial and probably conviction.
