Beck: The way America sees itself and the world is changing and it worries me because we used to have a common vision. But now that vision is split and what I believe is the prevailing vision, has been relegated in the mass media to the fringe. Things like: Belief in God over government; parents’ rights over children’s rights; the honor of military over the honor of the politician; being willing to do the hard thing now and have less so that our children can have a chance at having more.
I know you feel like I do — we would all absolutely learn to do with less, sew our own cloths, can food, take the bus to work if need to so that our kids can have the freedom to succeed that this country has always offered.
But now we’re getting to a place where we can’t even believe our eyes or ears.

There are a several of problems with your references to Samuel Adams over Pelosi, et. al, as the standard-bearer for interpretation of The Constitution.
First, the document was the outcome of a collective process, meaning that 54 Founding Fathers – and not any 1 of them – jointly created the document through the process of discussion, persuasion, and compromise. Therefore it would be incorrect and improper to focus on the interpretation of one single member over others.
Second, and more simply, Mr. Adams declined to participate in the Convention of 1787 and therefore was not involved in the creation of the document.
Third, the Convention made it clear that future generations were not to be tied by the events, interpretations, and preferences of the men of 1787. They did this by (1) creating a mechanism by which our Constitution may be revised; and (2) adopting a resolution saying so.

Oh there was plenty of sacrifice. Americans once again had their tax dollars sacrificed to pay for this failed endeavor so the President and his wife could fly in two separate planes. The environment made a sacrifice for those planes as well. Our troops are sacrificing themselves while our President postpones any decision so he could accomplish this fiasco. Then there will be the hundreds of media outlets who will willingly throw themselves under the buss for Obama to defend this abominable action. They will be making sacrifices as well. The networks and newspapers will sacrifices more of their subscribers as more and more people move away from those who just keep making excuses for Obama. Yes, Michelle Obama was right, this trip required and will continue to require a lot of sacrifice of everyone’s part except for the Obama’s.

Refer to Federalist #10 as to the difference (from the perspective of Madison, et. al.) between a democracy and a republic.

Of course, neither concept justifies illegal actions.
I am sure that with a little effort you will find the this distinction is commonplace among both the Founding Fathers and the Framers.

Glenn is absolutely right here. The mainstream media and most politicians are so out of touch with the heartbeat of America that they can not, nor are most of them willing, to listen to what is being said. While I am no big fan of George W. Bush, I am incensed at the 8 years of name calling and personal attacks of him yet when our current President does the same thing (only much more of it) this President is praised. We are still losing men and women in the war of terror each day with Obama as President but where are the daily news casts of body counts and the devastation of the war. Where is the outrage at any of the truly violent attacks in this country committed constantly by environmental groups?
The arrogance of the current administration should be appreciated for one simple reason, they have finally manged to awaken the sleeping giant of the silent majority and have begun the process of Uniting them in a cause with such fortitude and commitment that was not even possible in the attack on our own soil on 9/11. Democrats, Republicans and Independents are setting aside party differences to stand together to reclaim the
one thing that Unites us, being an American.
That means more than just being born here. To be a real American, you must believe in America. The richness of her soil must flow through your blood. It is not simply the shallow belief that there is an America. Being an American means upholding and cherishing the principles that gave birth to her in the words of our founding fathers, in her Declaration of Independence and in her Constitution and Bill Of Rights. It is no longer enough simply to call yourself an American because you were born here. If you abhor the principals which formed her very existence, than you are against her.
When we have failed as a nation, it has always been because we have violated the principles of our founding fathers and the framework of the Constitution. When we break that oath to the Constitution and ignore the principals laid out within it, the results is always slavery, oppression and reprehensible actions against the principals of America and nature of mankind instilled within by our Creator. When we have adhered to the principals of the Constitution how we have shined, brighter than the morning star and offering of a hope of freedom to all people who come here.
For too many years our Government has been abusing the Constitution and trampling it into the ground. We have re-written our history books to focus only on those moments when we have failed to adhere to the words that should govern us all. We have opened the doors of corruption and greed and Washington is all to quick to dance with the devil. It no longer matters. In the political arena, Democrat and Republican alike are for sale to the highest bidder and if the Constitution must be ignored to make these things possible then they say, Damn the Constitution and forge ahead.
In the words of Samuel Adams, “The Utopian schemes of leveling {redistribution of the wealth} and a community of goods {central ownership of the means of production and distribution}, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown. {These ideas} are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government, unconstitutional.”
I think I’ll take Adams words as the real intention of the founding fathers over Obama, Pelosi or any other Politicians spin since Adams was there when the Constitution was framed. The government takeovers and a national healthcare bill are unconstitutional and I don’t care who else has done such a thing in the past. It was unconstitutional then and it’s unconstitutional now!
A little more than 200 years ago a nation arose and was formed to fight the very things our current government is trying to impose upon us. She has struggled over these 200 plus years to maintain her dignity while those in places of power sought to tear her down but because the people…yes We the People of the United States, in Order to Form this More Perfect Union have stood firmly and boldly in the gap to help build the bridge back to Constitution. And now she is calling to us once again. America is calling…not to the revolution of those who would seek to tear her down but to a restoration so that she might once again rise to shine as the beacon of freedom to a people who desperately need to feel the warmth of her light once again.
This war against terrorism is perfect in that it is ridding Obama of people who do not support his regime.

Need I remind you of our basic history and the very process by which our constitution was created? Remember those diametrically opposed visions referred to as the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan? The debates over slavery and the slave trade? The Navigation Acts? The Federalists versus the Anti-Federalists? To ratify or not ratify the proposed constitution? The need for a Bill of Rights or not? Whether a protection of individual liberties should be discussed in a second constitutional convention or in the new Congress?
These were not minor disputes nor were they over minor issues, Instead, each represent a strongly held view of the proper form and function of government – that is, disputes over the very role our government should play in society. And yet these disputes over the very fabric of our society – although hotly contested – were addressed in an intelligent and civil manner. Our leaders of the day put forth intelligent and well-reasoned arguments for or against an idea. They respectfully considered and understood the viewpoints of those who held different ideas before reposnding, challenging, or dismissing them. hey stood up for basic values even – or especially – when doing so was not to their advantage. There was no childish name calling, no sensationionalizing, no lying and no mischaracterizations of preferences or people. No one shouted “Damn Federalist” or “Stupid libertarian”, at least not in official venues. No one dismissed dismissed an entire source of information because of some perceived threat. Why, then, must Americans reduce themselves to frenzied demagoguery instead of intelligent and informed civil discourse?
I challenge you – each of you – AND ESPECIALLY YOU MR. BECK – to rise to the level of debate that exemplified the quality of debate that preceeded the founding of our country. Do not, then, resort to obsucation, trickery, and name calling to make your point. Make your argument or challenge that of those with whom you disagree instead of slandering their character. Rather than trying to deligitimize sources, offer persuasive counter-arguments. SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR YOUR PARENTS! SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR YOURSELF! SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THOSE BASIC VALUES THAT YOU “CLAIM” TO CHERISH SO MUCH BUT ARE SO QUICK TO ABANDON WHEN THEY NO LONGER SERVE YOUR PURPOSE!
Well, I didn’t live back when the constitution was written, but I certainly think a few names got called and a few debate ‘tactics’ got used. To think it was all sunshine and roses would be… well, head in the sand kind of thinking. Certainly revisionist history.
What Glenn (and any other Political Commentator) does is to find their niche and use it to get across their viewpoint. We may like or dislike what any of them say, but certainly to try and force them into what we view is the best way to debate the issues would be hypocritical at best.
He is following his own belief’s in how to work his own show. If he wants it to have staying power, he needs to find that thread that resonates throughout us all. Bill O’Reilly certainly has done that. Early on, he was much more like Glenn Beck in his ‘tenor’. Now he’s coming across far more even keeled and Centrist. This will give him the staying power he needs. If Glenn succeeds, and then fails to find anything else discordant to strike on, he’ll fade with the loss of the powerful issues he’s currently successful with.
We must allow for these tactics, but please, everyone, stay civil and open minded. Respect each other despite what tactics, good or bad, are used. See them for what they are.

Well, deepthought, although neither you nor I lived during that time we do have access to the debates conducted within the Constitutional Convention. Refer to Madison’s Notes of the Convention and you can relive history. Is it really revisionist to point out – BASED ON THE HISTORICAL RECORD – that debates over those most basic issues were both intelligent and civil? I think not.

What I find really disturbing is that when you have more than 30 high school students a year being killed ,and over 600 injured in the last in the last three years do to violence in Chicago our priority is to wine and dine people reguarding where the olympics are going to be held.Why Hasn’t Obama showed concern about this espacially since most of the kids being hurt or killed are black.He showed concern when one of his friends got arrested for not complying with police so why not now.No its all about the Olympics and health care which one only needs if they aren’t dead.This whole govt. has got its priorities wrong and need to do some soul searching including Obama a self proclaimed Christian who actions so far suggest anything but Christian.

I trust them marginally on local news, but on national news I go to the net to see everyone’s take on it and filter the biases out. It does seem that we live in a time where people have ceased to care whether or not the Country (USA) lives or dies. And like the dog that does not bark, they are oblivious to what is happening around them. Two hardest things for me to accept (believe with mine eyes and ears) is the low value placed on education and degree to which young people have become desensitized to violence. This has accelerated over last twenty years as high-paying jobs that used to be available to poor have all but disappeared.
But do believe citizen groups such as 9/12 project reaffirm the universality of human nature; help defend open society against delusional thinking, conspiracy theories, scapegoating, learned helplessness and perverse values (culture of the slums) in favor of common sense, economic & scientific rationality, personal honesty, personal integrity and personal responsibility (western civilization).
It is said that a virtuous man meets with more opposites and opponents than any other.
Sure seems to be case in mainstream media concerning Glen Beck and the 9/12 project.

People might take you more seriously if you could conquer the simplest aspects of the english language. If you were wandering that would be spelling. Just like on any resume, mispelled words make you sound like an idiot, regardless if this is just a forum. And for future reference Jimbo, they seem to have a spellcheck running on here when you do make a comment.
I recently started looking around on the Media Matters website and found that the jimbos of the world all seem to have the same problems will spelling, grammar and coherency when typing. Check it out if you want a great chuckle. Glenn seems to be the only “journalist” left on television and should refer to himself as such.

I am very gratfull for your hard work and devotion to help keep America from slipping down the dark hole. Finally, I feel I am not alone. I just hope it is not to late. Watching your show today about the kids in Chicago is a sad example of our deteriorated society. If the kids in school do not have prayer or at least say “Pledge of Allegiance”then how in the heck can they learn to care about this country!!

If someone sees it and is offended…..GOOD. It’s about time the radical godless crowd got told to sit down and shut up. We will talk about what we believe and if they don’t like it…..TOUGH. Go someplace else. There are plenty of godless places in the world that would be glad to have them. One of my biggest issues with Obama is over torture, I agree he should not to any more than place a bad mark on the records of the low operatives that followed illegal orders of the president.
I have always felt that people that are at the level of General and higher should face real jail time, and yes Bush and his staff that gave those orders.. send them to prison as so any president in the future knows you can’t give that order.

And that is why African Americans don’t vote Republican. You see back then in you recent history, history that African Americans today lived in recalled what the democrats did and what republicans did. You are right. Realization is coming too slowly to most to effect the necessary changes that need to occur. Before the Reichstag Incident can successfully happen, Obama will need a military that he can trust to support him. The one we have is full of conservative patriots in high levels. In order to achieve a new military, he must find large groups of people who will accept his “gifts” in exchange for their complete submission and support. One such gift may, perhaps, be amnesty. Why else would someone give amnesty to terrorists and gang members. Everyone keeps comparing Mr. Obama’s administration to 1930’s Germany. I propose that it is more like the “king of kings of Africa” and “His Excellency, President for Life” Idi Amin. (Side note: Idi Amin fled to Lybia before moving to Saudi Arabia).

I think that America began to change during the Viet Nam era. People questioned the government because of the war, drug use was widespread, and lifestyles were changing at a rapid pace. I don’t think, though, that people thought of themselves as losing sight of the American vision, In fact, I think they thought that they were saving it. The war taught them that the only thing it could produce was a bunch of dead bodies, despite of words contrary to what the government said.
Since then, the world has become a global one, with influences coming from every which way. What happens because of a bad decision in Asia can have devastating effects on us here in the United States. Parents are not teaching their children the values and ethics they need to learn, and as a result, all of these global influences are determining what our children are becoming. God has come to be someone who has so many interpretations and meanings that no one really knows who He is anymore. And when school children are taught that the President of the United States is comparable to Jesus……well…..how confusing do you think that is to them?
We have come to equate material wealth with God’s approval of our ways, and in the process have forgotten how to live simply, and forgotten how the simple things in life often are the most meaningful. We don’t teach simplicity anymore. All of these things that I mentioned have clouded our vision of America, of how we see America to be. Bipartisanship is a thing of the past; partisanship offers us only one way of looking at things. Our minds dry up.
We need to go back to some of the basics and maybe our vision would start to clear. By the way, I do all of my own preserving and canning because I have a huge garden. It lasts me for almost a year and a half. It teaches me that the importance of one’s life is that which you make it to be, and that embracing the earth opens our minds to many things that otherwise would remain hidden.
