9/25: Reid Blocks ACORN Probe

ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — is stinking up Washington.
And this is far more significant than if a suspiciously large number of operatives for a purely “private” outfit had been found systematically bending and breaking the law, because ACORN receives and spends taxpayer money — lots of it — and had carried the imprimatur of official partnerships with the IRS, the Census Bureau … the kind of “cred” that in the political world comes only from “who you know.”
Yes, ACORN has friends in high places — friends who are still stonewalling attempts to trace where all that tax money went … perhaps because they know who still has cookie crumbs all over their hands.

Acorn is just the beginning. I remember that the beginning of the end for Nixon was just a little break in at the Watergate. And that was about the spying on one political party by another and brought the White House with the cover up. This scandal starts with misuse of government funds to help cover up income from prostitution and is going to lead to voter fraud, misuse of government funds, Campaign finance violations, and violation of labor union laws as the SEIU is part of ACORN.

What happened over this past few weeks is sick and you should fight to reject it.
A major media organization targeted one group accused it of things it didn’t do.
That group was singled out by the fed to be punished and made a law that tried to target that group directly.

some with bills that just targeted that group directly.
Not defending ACORN.. but you know… what if I said that you KILLED your wife or Husband.. because of that I get congress to draft a bill that says that ALL 9 – 12 groups and all T-party groups are now to pay 1000% taxes.

I’ve been reading some of your posts. I’m all for the protection of rights (AIG bonuses seem to come to mind) but when you are on the governments payroll, my payroll, you answer to me through my representative government. I do wish our politicians would stop reacting to the corruption or popular opinion and start doing things to prevent it in the first place. You could be right, these “kids” could be in hot water and Acorn may not have broken any laws in this instance. But what I think your not taking into consideration is that it is not in the best interest of Acorn to have any charges pursued or to have these “kids” prosecuted in any way. I think the lawsuit recently filed by Acorn is a bluff. As soon as it begins to progess and get serious the investigations into both sides will take place and then the real fraud, conspiracy, and aiding and abetting will be uncovered and Acorn will be finished. I watch how easily, in all of the videos, the Acorn workers help them and give them advice to commit illegal acts. To say that no Acorn worker has ever commited any of the possible crimes would be laughable at this point. During any type of legal action these things would be uncovered and Acorn would be closed. The politicians and Acorn are going to try and bury this as soon as they can. The longer it drags on the worse it will be for all of them and the more corruption will be exposed.

First the post above you is everything that happened to acorn not because of these kids. I don’t think that ACORN cars if these kids go to jail or not, they just know one thing. The people that are against them are prepared to break the law, willfully lie about employees even to go as far as say that the employee committed murder when that person hasn’t to achieve their political ends.
The people that they fight will broadcast that lie (see September 15th broadcasts of fox). Use that broadcast to hit political and media officials to support the lie. The people in congress are prepared to violate the constitutional rights of the organization.
The individual activists that they have to deal with are prepared to (as red state has been accused of doing) rob from their employees, in the case of O’Keith videotape talks in an effort to entrap employees in things that could be used against acorn, they know that not even filing a police report telling O’Keith to stay away kept him away.
You tell me facing that would you go all out to crush these people.

This is why ACORN has sent chilling tremors through Washington……This is what needs Exposing:
Twice in the past 2 elections, I witnessed firsthand how many “non-profit organizations” are campaigning in elections….many using their organization offices, just like ACORN. It is all over America! My first incidence of discovery was a multi-million $ non-profit in WA state, a cultural entity I’d done some fundraising/volunteer work for.
I dropped by; coincidentially during a local/county election in which I was involved as a Campaign strategist and manager for a new slate of Repub candidates); and finding the reception area and executive offices empty, I wandered through the large facility and ultmately found most of the execs and staff downstairs in the copy room, printing, folding and boxing Thousands of pro-Dem candidates election materials….hundreds if not thousands of dollars in staff time and materials..as well as Free postage!
I contacted the newspaper, followed up with a letter to the Editor…expecting some comments back. Instead, within days, front page photo and article announced the Exec Director had resigned. This was odd since she was brand new, had been on the job only 3 mos….she was made scapecoat to protect the organization.
- In Louisians, campaigning for Bush, I was verbally attacked by a group of a dozen “normal” looking women who arrived toegther with posters…..I was stunned. Women I’d seen in my neighborhood grocery “gone rabid”! One was embarrassed and came over to apologize….stating that it’s regrettable when they get too fired up and forget their manners. They were just trying to support their work and protect the budget for the SPCA! By the way, they were ALL wearing SPCA t shirts. No one loves animals more than I but have since stopped donating money to be used for Dem candidates in national elections. This is Rampant in America and Acorn is merely the tiny tip of this iceberg! PS, In the WA election, We won; the huge newspaper headline read “SWEEP!”
Every American should be looking at Non-Profits and cleaning them up, These are our tax dollars!!
They think that if they keep the ball moving running interference that most people will be distracted like grazing cattle and stop paying attention. Wrong.
The Democrat Party is addicted to ACORN, they need that rush of voting power they think ACORN gives them. The list of infractions against is too long to ignore, but they don’t have another group organized to take ACORN’s place, yet. I have no doubt this is in work.
If they did, ALL of the Democrat Party leaders would have a VERY public send off proclaiming ACORN’s corruption and how they, the Democrats, were victims of ACORN’s terrible misdeeds, ridiculing Republicans along the way as if they are the real culprits in all of this.
I hope the Supreme Court throws out McCain-Feingold in its entirety so we know who is doing what, where and for how much. The money trail says more than any political blathering.
How long can Harry prevent this? As long as we fail to press our Senators and Congressmen he can go on as long as he wants.

With the fed drafting a law that appears at this point to violate Acorn’s constitutional rights there may be a block on investigations from some time because of a conflict of interest..
Anticipate that ACORN will sue the FED the question is what will happen once that case gets started. and what ACORN will get or what acorn will want from the FED.
You may find that ACORN may start to look at many other states to do the same thing.
I am not a lawyer, but I could swear the constitution said we the people. I didnt say anything about ACORN.
I suppose that Reid knows that he is on the outs…by now he knows that he will be gone after his election, and is just doing as much damage he can while he can. I say we investigate ALL politicians and lookup their voting records to see who is promoting who and what their agenda is..and if there is any wrong doing (illegal actions) we prosecute to the fullest, and don’t put them in “club fed” but put them in the regular prison population.
I wonder how many of these bankers and lawyers and career politicians could survive in the real world…(you know get a real job).

People that do get information about a group should be protected from that group hitting back if the data collected was done legally (sadly I don’t think that how this was done could be considered legal)… I am with you on that.
But under the wistle blower law tends to protect people that were members of the group.. like the former board members.. they are protected under the law.. I doubt that the wistle blower law protects these kids.

I wonder what juicy promises Harry Reid got from the White House for blocking an investigation into ACORN considering that the President was once very much involved with it, but suddenly says that he hasn’t followed recent happenings, such as the pimp and prostitute affair, and frankly, isn’t that concerned with it anymore. Suddenly, when the Senate calls for an investigation, Reid miraculously appears and puts a halt to it because he says there are more important issues at hand, such as Health Care, and ACORN could be distracting. The web that Obama spun during his campaign is growing stronger, and unless we, as people, demand a stop to the shennanigans in Washington, the web is going to continue to grow.
ACORN is full of corruption, and for the government to allow taxpayers money through federal funding to continue to support them, it is morally and ethically wrong, if not just downright unlawful. As far as I know, pimping and prostitution is still a crime, and ACORN was not only going to allow them residence but show them how to avoid the tax loopholes. Now I know if I had done that, I would be in jail with the worst of the worst.
Let’s get real and start to do something positive about taking care of the corruption that is going on in Washington. If we don’t take a stand, the web will only grow stronger.
I’m sure the WH is bankrolling his campaign. He is already behind his contender by double digits . . . but still too early to tell. I imagine ACORN will also be acting on his behalf . . . some more voter fraud.
I read today that there is a Republican Congresswoman in NY, District 23, who is running for Congress in 2010; however, it was brought out that she has ACORN’s seal of approval. So, it’s just not the Dems. I think it’s probably the majority of them. Made me think that we should all be asking or researching to see if the candidates running got ACORN’s seal of approval. Seems to me we 912ers should all get together and start a 3rd party, the Founders Party. Our platform would be to get NORMAL people across the country to run for Congress. The American people would probably fund this party, because our platform would be NO special interests, thus cutting down on corruption; WILL vote NO to all earmarks; WILL listen to their constituents, etc. I think this might be the right climate.
Concept is good, but you have to understand, earmarks/ pork is how reps and senators get money to their districts, this was supposed to save time then having to vote for each appropriation.
If there is a third party forming here, We Need Lawyers, we need to Orwellianly Deconstuct the tax code, as well as all the “laws and writs” entered into the CFR’s . In truth We need a constitutional convention, not so much as amending it but explaining it, simplify the language so the laws can be understood by the not so elitely Educated. then we send Joe from across the street to DC.
As it is right now they’d eat every one of them for breakfast, and we’d be the silent Majority again.

Well, since the local (Baltimore) statute says “reasonable expectation of privacy” and there were 4 people in a public office, where children can be heard in the background, ACORN’s case is looking pretty bleak.
look where people who have gone to jail for that crime in Baltimore… it is a good arrangement for the defense.. not making any judgements.. but you do have to understand that there are what 6 perhaps more locations that could charge them for doing the recording.. not to mention what happened in PA. There are also a large list of other crimes that are on the way.
Just it requires that ACORN and the people that were the victims of the crime to file charges.. give it time acorn has a lot more to go.
