I contacted Florida Senator George LeMieux’s office with an attachement of the IN or OUT 5 Pledges and I asked if he was in or out, and if he was in, he had my support, but if he was out, he didn’t have my support. This was his response:

Last week, I officially took the oath of office for the U.S. Senate. Serving 18 million Floridians in this capacity is the honor of a lifetime and a great responsibility I take very seriously. My wife Meike and I appreciate the hundreds of well wishes we’ve already received. Thank you for your support and words of encouragement and know that I intend to be the hardest working U.S. senator while I am in office. Be it health care, the national debt, or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I am here to represent your views and I look forward to hearing from you.
Upholding Free Speech and the 2nd Amendment
Minutes after my swearing-in ceremony, I had the privilege of casting my first vote. The question was whether to confirm Cass R. Sunstein to be the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. While Mr. Sunstein is a very accomplished individual, I cast my vote against this nominee because his views are not in line with the values of Florida’s families. Mr. Sunstein’s opposition to an individual’s right to bear arms as guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment make him an inappropriate pick to lead an important federal office.
Blocking ACORN Funding
This week, the United States Senate considered striking funding for ACORN, the not-for-profit group making headlines in the news lately, Monday, I voted to block any Federal dollars from going to ACORN because of their questionable activities including at least 30 cases of suspected voter fraud. With our mounting national debt, we can’t afford to spend taxpayer money on organizations operating on the edges of the law.
The Debt, the Deficit, and Health Care Reform
In the coming months, Congress will deal with a great number of issues critically important to the future of our nation. One of the largest issues pending before Congress is how to reform our system of health care. I support affordability and access to quality health care. Right now, the costs are too high and too many people are without health insurance; but the solution can’t be worse than the problem. As this debate continues, I strongly encourage you to contact me with your thoughts on the health care situation, and let me know what you believe needs to be done.
I contacted my Senator (Bill Nelson) in Florida, attached the IN or OUT 5 Pledges and asked him if he was In or Out? I stated that if he was IN that I would support him, but if he was OUT, I wouldn’t support him. This was his answer:
Thank you for writing me with your concerns about government spending.
Right now the American people are hurting. They are losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses and their life’s savings. Economists across the political spectrum agree that the government needs to take bold and immediate action to stimulate the economy and curb the risk of a protracted economic recession.
But we must take care with taxpayer money. Last year I voted against spending $700 billion to bail out Wall Street because the bill lacked meaningful relief for homeowners facing foreclosure and didn’t include adequate protections for American taxpayers. I remain committed to reducing wasteful spending and improving transparency in Federal funding.
I voted for the economic stimulus package because I believe it is narrowly targeted to spend and invest in ways that will get the economy moving again. It invests in our infrastructure, creating badly needed jobs, and provides critical tax relief to businesses and middle-class Americans. It also shores up unemployment benefits and food stamps, provides aid to seniors and disabled veterans, and invests in our children through 21st Century education. The bill improves access to health care and promotes energy independence.
I understand your frustrations, and I appreciate hearing your thoughts. I’ll keep your views in mind as we debate measures aimed at reducing the debt and strengthening the economy.

Plowboy, I can think of one congressman that is upholding the constitution. Ron Paul of Texas. Another great American patriot serving the People and NOT special interest groups. As far as Glen Beck goes, I have the same beliefs as he does and so does the MAJORITY of the people in the US. To pull the racist card is absurd. It’s time we all stop seeing in color and start looking at the individual and where their moral stand is. I could care less if the president is green, blue, purple, whatever. My concern is whether the President will honor the oath he took when accepting his office. “To preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States of America”. If he doesn’t do that he should be charged with treason. It’s that simple. Leave color out and look for integrity.

I think what we see in Barack Obama is the fact that the masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force.
We don’t need to apologize for ourselves. The US will either be a world power or will not be at all. What we have to fight for is the freedom and independence of the USA, so that we may be enabled to fulfill the mission assigned to us by our creator. Obama wants to make us into another European Socialist country, so that we may be able to “fit in” with the world. But America is not Europe. We’re stronger than that. And the stronger must dominate and not blend with the weaker. Only the weak think that that is wrong.
What can we do? We can fight against the people who want to make America into Europe! Wee need something grass-roots, because all great movements are popular movements. They are the volcanic eruptions of human passions and emotions, stirred into activity by the torch of the spoken word cast into the midst of the people.

Just received a letter asking for a donation from my Senator. Although I believe he is a fair minded honest man who does put our country first, I returned the request with a copy of GB’s pledge. I told him that if he would support me, I will support him. Money talks.
Norman Matoon Thomas was a leading socialist, pacifist and 6 time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America in the 1930s and ’40s.
Mr. Thomas said this in a 1944 speech: “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. I no longer have to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party, the Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”

This is so scary! I was born in 1957, and was public school educated. So, I was not aware of how the socialists were taking over our country. I had an idea, that we were losing our freedoms, but I was not aware that it was so organized, until this election.
Great principles, but obfuscated in the wording. Let’s rephrase :
1. I vote for a balanced budget only while the Democrats are in office. While the Republicans are in office, I didn’t object to squandering the Clintion surplus on tax cuts for the wealthiest, and a needless and damaging war with Iraq.
2. I oppose all tax increases… especially tax increases that might help us balance the budget as in #1.
3. I believe we should allow oil & gas corporations should have a free for all on mineral extraction in this country, despite environmental concerns, and despite the reality that the oil reserves left in this country are too negligible to have an effect on gas prices or our dependence on foreign oil.
4. I will not get my car washed by illegal immigrants. I will not hire illegal immigrants to clean my house. I will not buy fruit picked by illegal immigrants. I will not eat in restaurants with illegal immigrant busboys. I will not support a temporary guest worker plan to give some of these immigrants a legal way to work here. I will not allow illegal immigrants to buy health insurance under the Obama plan, because we’d rather just treat them for free in the E.R. like we do now.
4b The UN has no power over us. America can do no wrong and is above the law, and does not need to abide by the standards we expect of other nations.
5. America really is the greatest country on earth, and even with my head buried so far up my backside I can see that!

Thank you Glenn Beck!!! I like the Thomas Jefferson quote, “A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate theeir own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned — this is the sum of good government.”
My problem with your statement, Mr. Beam, is how do you know who is legal or illegal? By brown skin? That is very dangerous/intolerant. How do you distinguish between the two? How do you know if your apple was picked by an illegal?
My husband, my son and daughter and grandchildren have beautiful brown skin and are as legal as you. They have never even been to Mexico.
NOW, if you think I’m a liberal on this subject you are very wrong. I am against the illegals being here. I am against illegals using our resources meant for US citizens.

Before 9/11/01, it was not uncommon to see My flag burned in effegiy. 9/12/01 the flag was flown with pride.
Before 9/11/01, the military was where you went if you could not find a “real” job. After 9/12/01, everyone wanted to be at least associated with the military.

I had the same issue with my Senators and Representative. I went ahead and printed it off and faxed it to all of their local offices. I figured that they may as well get this in every way possible!!
been watching fox for an hour and also looking atb the website live stream. how can these people claim to be supporting the post 9/11 feelings if many of them are holding signs cursing the US and one of the brionze sponsors advocates the violent overthrow of the govt? There are no black people in the crowd….none, zero, nadda. The speakers have been mainly religiously focused god’s own party supporters. This is not America of 2009 this a gathering that wants to take America back to pre-civil rights, no votes for women, no labor protections Hooverville supporters. the coubntry they want to take back simply does not exist and they would be wiser to put thier fantasy aside and work on the country as it is.
What channel are you watching that you were able to see every single person arriving to this protest to know there is not one single black person. and how to you come off saying that these people want a pre civil rights, no votes for women, and no labor protections. Now for the rest of what you said; I don’t know where you are getting you misinformation but I have never heard anyone involved with the tea parties or the 9/12 project advocate for taking us back to “pre-civil right, not votes for women, ect… If that is what you hear when you hear people like Glenn Beck talk about restoring our founding principle, then you are wrong. That isn’t what this is all about. This is about freedom. Freedom from tyranny and oppression. This is about giving the power back to the people and taking it away from lifelong politician who want nothing more than to rule over us and run all of our lives from cradle to grave. If you want a nanny state that “does everything for you”, or should I say try to do everything for you, that’s your business, but many more of us don’t want that. Just remember this, in the words of Thomas Jefferson, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.”

Somebody missed a black representative on the news (maybe you can finally watch the news to find out who)…she said that there are MANY blacks who are afraid to be at these rallies for fear of what the liberals would do to them…
Well as I have been watching the Glenn Beck show He has interviewed two black men and as I see others being interviewed I can see other blacks in the back ground. Wake up rascalofearth and quit being a kool-aid drinker.

I recall the “official pledge” that George W. Bush asked us to make on September 12, 2001 was to go shopping. He wanted us to continue to build unsustainable consumer leverage because it would grow the economy in the short term.
I guess that’s one of the reasons why all the gains of the Clinton years were erased by Bush.

ALL of our elected officials have already taken an Oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and not a one of them have upheld that Oath. What the elected officials have been doing for decades is all unconstitutional! All this country needs is to get back to following the Constitution. Our Forefathers took great pains in writing and enacting it and it is no longer being followed!

This is not a RACE issue; I saw and listened to persons of color who actually spoke on Saturday. I also check numerous non profit and non partisan news sources for news since media can be known to be biased. This is not religious based protesters and speakers only. Most of us that have voiced an opinion share the belief that our government is corrupt, and out of touch with most Americans. You prove that you also are racist by the choice of your words. This has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is black. Social Security is facing bankruptcy soon (I think 2017) and already paying out more than it takes in. Medicare , US Postal Service are losing money, the VA and Indian Health Service barely taking care of the needs of the people. If all these programs are close to bankruptcy or run inefficiently then how can another program ( no matter how noble and just) be run any better? Many of our elected officials are swayed power, ego, and by money ,big money, corporate money, special interest groups etc. Are they are immune to the laws that govern us all? Are you familiar with accounting? Does the word bankruptcy mean anything to you? No one can continue spending more than they earn and not expect consequences.Why do you think people go bankrupt and businesses go bankrupt? The problem with our government isn’t just because of the last administration either although they had alot to do with it. If you look at history and the wasteful unecessary spending on “pork projects” the corrupt officials that are and have served us constituents, they are Republican, Democrat and Indepent. If the government would eliminate wasteful spending, there would probably be a reasonable option for heallth care reform. It should not matter that I am not white but of mixed race and female, and that I do not come from wealth.

I would also like to add a number 6 that all candidates agree to adopting a line item veto. Many worthwhile bills have died because of pork barrel, non-related, spending added to them by special interests..
6. I believe that the president should have line-item veto authority to remove non-related pork barrel spending or other non-related verbage attached to legislation.
A website called Let Freedom Ring has posted a pledge where they’ve asked each member of Congress to promise to actually READ the healthcare bill before voting on it. To date only 117 of the 535 members have signed the pledge. I encourage you to contact your Congressional delegation if they haven’t signed it and demand to know why not.

6. I believe the United States of America is a sovereign nation and as such should not be in debt to anyone other than its own citizens. Therefore, I will support efforts to eliminate the government’s obligations to other countries and non-citizens by 2025. I understand that this will require we reduce all government spending by 34% (4% per year) over the next 10 years and redirect these funds to foreign debt reduction.
wlc912, I agree with your idea that we get out of debt by 2025 and reduce government spending, however, we should also recoup the monies that we have “lent” to other countries and never got our money back.
We became the world’s banker, giving out money to other countries for a variety of reasons, yet you never hear that “so and so country paid the United States x-number of dollars, PLUS INTEREST.” This money, if it came back to the government and not into someone else’s hand would help reduce our debt and also show that we can get our money back from nations that are willing to do the right thing. Pay back their debts!
We are a giving nation, but it seems that when we “need” from other countries, we seem to always get the shaft. Perhaps we should learn how to keep “OUR MONEY” here in America where it belongs. We need to take care of our own!!!
