Why Obama’s Speech Doesn’t Matter

Beck: Everyone is talking about health care today and the president’s speech tonight.
I don’t even need to watch the speech.
Why? Because here’s The One Thing: While everyone else is talking about the health care bill and the games of health care reform, let me sum up the speech this way: It doesn’t matter.
- Is Beck right? Post your comment below and sound off:

Thank You Glen for being the voice for so many of us. The voice of the people has been ignored, with you we may have a chance of being heard. In my lifetime I have never seen anything like this, and after today, feel that so many of us are still “Proud To Be American” and willing to march and speak out for our rights as Americans. Today brought tears to my eyes, but the question is what will tomorrow bring? Will the White House even respond in any way to “The American People” that made their discontent known today. Will we be ignored once again?
I dont want to hear anything that idiot has to say. In my opinion I want him out of this country
How great is it to have Glen Beck organizing such an event. He’s always supported the victims of 9/11 and expressed how he feels about them and their families.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf33g9ep4YU
This event, this website and the engagement of a very substantial number of American taxpayers, proves that WE have solid foundation for a counter-revolution. If Congress and the White House ignores our protests, we should do what the Iranian opposition threatened to do after the election: Initiate a National Strike. It could be a coordinated WORK strike, TAX strike or CONSUMPTION strike. The 9/12 project would be an excellent central point to promote and organize such action. A disruption of commerce and the tax revenue stream would be non-violent and legal, as far as I can tell, and gives us some leverage when dealing with unconstitutional legislation, and tyranny.
The health care system in the United States could use some work. People on both sides of the line (both regular people and politicians, democrats and republicans) think that it needs some changes. US health care costs are one of the highest anywhere, and health care costs are bankrupting thousands of uninsured or underinsured poor families. These are 2 issues that everyone can agree are a problem.
Saying that we should ignore all discussion on health care (Like Glenn Beck said in this clip) is definitely not the way to go. His logic is that “any bill put through by the congress is likely going to be a trojan horse that will ruin this country”. So when are we supposed to solve these problems?
Are we never supposed to try to solve any of the problems this country runs into in the future, or should we do the same thing and put our fingers in our ears singing “I am not listening”? Problems like health care need addressing. It is debatable by what extent that we can help the system, but we should not ignore it entirely.
Hey guys, haven’t been on in awhile and I’m wondering where did the “vent” go? And further, whats up with switching to ‘word press’? Did something happen while I was away that I’m not aware of?
I did not listen to Mr. Obama last night. I do not listen to Mr. Obama any night! Mr. Obama could not explain “his” health care bill in phony town hall meetings. Why should we believe he could write a speech in one day to cover all the bases? But then – did Mr. Obama really write the speech or was he just reading the teleprompter? I suspect he was just reading what he was told to read. I have to agree with liberty_n_justice_4_ all – health care reform is not about health care. It is about more power for Mr. Obama and people like Cass Sustein. Both of them will tell you what you want to hear and then do the opposite.
RE: Presidents speach to congress on 9/9/09
I listened, as long as I could stand listening to Obama’s “pushy lecture” to the congress. Long on talk and short on honest information with the only clear point to all his excessive blather was the One thing many Americans are affraid of, socialized health care.
In my opinion this expose’ of his true agenda is simply this; get ANY bill passed that will allow the federal goverment to get their foot in the door of health care. Once this shaky play is sneaked through the next step is to push the insurance induestry around and undermine them, put them out of business. this done, the public will have no other option than socialized medicine, and socialized health care which was Obama’s agenda in the first place.
When this plan succeeds it will leave the door wide open for the federal goverment to take over EVERY aspect of Ameerican’s individual lives.
Next a carefully calculated disassembly of the Bill of Rights and then the very Consitution that binds this country together.
Lighten up Francis.
As an Elementary School Principal I was happy when several concerned parents came in and voiced their oppinions and concerns about showing Obama’s speech to the students of America. I was equally happy when our school district decided that we would not broadcast the speech live, but would show it to parents and students at an evening school meeting.
Even though the end resulting speech was not anything threatening it was much different than what the lesson plans and other supporting documents made it out to be. I am proud of the Americans who stood up and let their voices be heard so that the Obama crew had to backtrack and change direction.
I have grave concerns over the power hungry politicians and the Obama political agenda and my hope is that more Americans will stand and be heard and shout at the top of their lungs to their representatives and Senators that we are not happy with what is happening. I also have great heartburn with the number of people who live in America who have their heads in the sand and think that everything is alright and that Obama willsave us all. Wake up you knotheads and look at what is happening around you. Look at your neighbors and see if they are surviving this flood of nonsense or if they are slowly drowning like the rest of us.
I sure hope you keep YOUR views out of the classroom!
To think that a president encouraging students to set goals, stay in school and achieve was turned into a communist plot — sigh.
Some people will turn anything into a tempest in a teapot to feed their own twisted storyline (you listening Beck?)
When beck was setting up his 9-12 project, he made some comment about that on that day, we didn’t need the government to tell us what to do.
Well, why did beck and other conservatives feel such a strong need to tell parents what to do about Obama’s speech to school kids? Why didn’t he and the other conservatives let parents decide on their own? They must feel that these parents are stupid if they felt so strongly about telling them what to do.
It might have been a communist or socialist address if not for the many opposing views offered when the “lesson plan” was (mistakenly) placed the public view. We do not know. We DO know it changed after the public said NO.
BecauseChristiansCare,
Pick your Bible up and read it you might learn something about what you are saying
Great. Another educator that can’t spell and apparently doesn’t know how (or why) to use spell-check.
I agree that people who have their heads in the sand about Obama (or any president) is a bad thing, but what about the ones like you who have their heads up their asses about him?
Glenn, you make me laugh. You claim to be “one person who has been consistent.” Oh really?
1.) “America already has the best health care in the world. We do take care of our sick.” –Glenn Beck, June 4, 2008
See, no flip-flopping there.
2.) “We seem to be a society or a system of health care in this country that is just trying to shove the patient through that door as fast as possible.” –Glenn Beck, January 7, 2008
Ok, using Beck’s own words against him may be unfair. I mean, there couldn’t possibly be other instances where he has been inconsistent, right?
3.) “Let me tell you about my personal voyage through the nightmare that is the American health care system.” –Glenn Beck, January 7, 2008
Ummm…er….
4.) “Getting well in this country can actually almost kill you.” –Glenn Beck, January 7, 2008.
Whoops. Bitter? Yes. Far Right? Absolutely. Consistent? Beck’s own words prove otherwise. Hypocrisy, thy name is Beck.
I also love how Glenn starts off his latest column with “I don’t even need to watch the speech.” Thats right Glenn, just shut your eyes and cover your ears because maybe…just maybe…you might agree with something that Obama says and that fact scares you more than anything in this world.
Hold to the truth, right Glenn? Perhaps you should stop asking asking other people so many questions and start answering some of your own. I’ll do it for you and demand some answers. Why are you so inconsistent, Glenn? I await your response.
Even if this isn’t just an example of a person talking about different aspects of the same thing, most of the people on this forum who have their own brain, don’t rely on Beck or any other one person to make up their mind for them. Boy do I wish EVERYONE was like that. If we could get past just taking one persons word for everything, then maybe we could get somewhere…
I have one question. If you don’t care for Glenn Beck Then WHY do you WATCH his show? I mean, LOOK AT ALL OF THESE QUOTES.
obama the great deciever and the great divider !!!
I think you mean Glenn Beck. Nobody does it better.
Mr Beck’s comments about “this administration is going off a blueprint they haven’t revealed yet” and “until we know where the people in Washington stand on the Constitution, nothing should pass” and many of the similar rabid responses here border on the psychotic, plain and simple.
That’s as in living in a different reality and/or delusional. Are flying saucers next?
Obama made it as plain as he could last night, and while you may not agree with him, I think it’s ridiculous to say that his blueprint hasn’t been revealed. Let’s face it, Beck and most of Fox News and its viewers are NEVER going to like ANYthing Obama says or does – fine, that’s everyone’s right, absolutely!
But how about countering with real arguments, not ridiculous assertions that poorly educated, bigoted people pick up and parrot. When will intelligent-sounding republicans re-emerge? Can’t they at least follow the example of Senator McCain or others who can do something besides name calling (eg, Joe ‘Mr Emotional’ Wilson)?
Keep it up, Glen and friends, and the dems will keep winning big, because so much of what you say is just obviously ridiculous and out of touch with reality!
So you do not believe in any of the principles America once stood for?
And by that you mean?
LeoKSoCal,
Here is my problem with the President, just like with many politicans before him, his words have no meaning. Most often they say one thing and do another. This man is no different from any of the others! To believe otherwise is to be blinded to the facts. I will not restate the proof for that one, see my posting below. They veil their intentions in eloquent words designed to inspire and sway opinion. They presuppose that this will be enough to gain our support. Words or Deeds, which is the better measure of truth?
If you look through this blog, you will find that the name calling without concrete facts begins with those who support Obama, better yet, take a look through the other blog postings at Beck’s Fox show. Far too often in the minds of these people, the only “Intelligent sounding Republicans” are those who do not have views contrary to their own.
I for one believe in diversity of thought, it makes this Country stronger. We need those who believe many things in order to strike a balance in this Republic, but to retain effectiveness diversity of thought cannot nbe legislated or forced. It was as true back in the days of GW as it is now.
That being said, stop the insults and name calling and provide your own proof for your statements regarding “so much of what you say is just obviously ridiculous and out of touch with reality!” Those in glass houses should not throw stones.
Why don’t you start with a real argument and specifics. Look at the words you just used, bigoted, poorly educated, parrot, psychotic, out of touch and then re-read your sentence “Can’t ey at least follow the example of Senator McCain or others who can do something besides name calling?” HMMM. Perhaps you should look in the mirror first, huh?
Care to explain how the dems are winning big when so many people have decided to protest their actions, and involvement, in the financial-palooza of our country? Many of the dems up for re-election in 2010 are losing, by double digits in their primaries, to republicans. Many dems have taken the tact of “if you aren’t with us, we will name call.” That’s not the answer, they aren’t above the law, and regardless of what their inflated heads believe…THEY ANSWER TO US! If they want to forget that very important tidbit of information, they can easily be replaced by someone who does understand it.
I encourage you to come back here after the 2010 elections, and we shall see and discuss just what the dems have been able to hang onto after such a vile, in your face, partisan, biased, flood of insults. I daresay that either the republicans will take back the house and senate, or the 3rd party candidates are going to make a showing at the polls like never before. One or the other, but dems will be standing in the unemployment line where they’ve assisted so many Americans to be.
Jeez…how can one person…strike that, how can a couple of thousand (a tiny percentage of voters), be so f’ing ignorant? You people keep spewing the most inane, outright wrong BS…it’s amazing! I am in awe of the stupid.
I will be the first to admit we need to do something about healthcare. That being said, I heard obama state last night, that his objective was not to eliminate private insurance. I can’t stand a liar nor can I trust the man I did not vote for. Please go to this link and you will see him contradict what he said in his worthless address to congress last night.

The title of this article alone is ironic and funny to me. When, in the history of the United States of Amercia has an address from the executive branch to the congressional branch of government not mattered?
If you watch the speech from and academic, civil, and independent perspective it was easy to see where this debate is headed and how there has been attempts for bi-partasanship.
The 9-12 project states that is is for a bi-partisan union of the U.S.A.; however it then states that a speech by the president is irrelevant.
If Bush gave the same speech, would it matter then?
Poor, poor, narrow minded conservatives. Guess what? The world isn’t conservative:
“Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand, cause the times they are a changing.” – Boby Dylan. aka your communist my hero.
Of coarse the first thing that pops out in the text of your comment is the “narrow minded” rhetoric. You know you are as narrow minded as the rest of us. I just accept your right to have your beliefs and visions for the country, and your right to speak them openly, without me calling you names.
And the speech doesn’t matter because its the same speech we hear over and over. The problem is not the person, the problem is the idea that we need the government to be bigger in order to solve our problems. Government has not and will not be able to solve problems without causing new problems. It was the intention of our founding fathers to severely limit the power of the Federal government because they were fresh out of a government that ruled through largess, and knew what woes that brings on the people.
The speech doesn’t matter because the politicians in Washington (both parties, btw) are only reacting, and not listening in order to make an informed decision. There is a reason the President cannot make laws, and this is a prime example. Governmental regulation of healthcare insurance is a nicer way to say that they are taking away more of your right to make your own decisions. There will always be people in this world and this country that make bad decisions, or don’t have what some others do. Governments that seek to even the playing field must burden the majority of people in order to lift up a minority.
I, personally, am against any further federal governmental regulation of healthcare (and many other areas) based on a strict reading of the constitution. If someone would like to present a constitutional amendment to broaden the scope of the government, I am for that, as that is the way we were intended to modify the abilities of government.
It seems so painfully obvious to me that those who wrote the main bill we are all discussing (whomever that happened to be) knew that that the federal government had no true right to make such laws. If they had the right to force people into healthcare, then they would have the right to jail them for not obeying. However, they must use the TAX law to enforce their will on us. Then, if you evade your taxes, you can go to jail. In other words, they are using a power they gave themselves a long time ago to force more liberties out of our hands.
You’ll notice i said “federal government” a lot. That is because any issues not laid out in the constitution of the united states as responsibilities of the federal government are, according to the same document, supposed to be handled by each state individually.
There comes a time when we have to realize money doesn’t grow on trees, and freedom is more precious than anything else we can have. There are few places on this planet where people can get true freedom. Lets not allow this one to slip through our hands because we are willing to sacrifice freedom for security.
Argument against Govt Power grab and a loss of liberties:
Where do you think you are losing liberty by providing health insurance reform? Granted, I am not so keen on a public option, however I am not losing any personal rights. I don’t have a RIGHT to health care. The constitution makes now statements on this topic. If the bill is not funded by taxes, then how is it funded. BTW: Its not 1932 anymore and there are hundreds of places to live in the world with ample freedom. You might even say that some UK democracies carry more civil, individual, liberties than the U.S.
Nobody is sacraficing freedom in order to implement healthcare. And to prove the point I will say this. You can move to a different country and nobody is going to stop you.
If you are making a case for State rights versus Federal and Consitutional rights this makes more sense.
I will say this however:
Social Security: Democratic implementation
Medicare: Democratic implementation
Medicaid: Democratic implementation
Leadership & the big picture:
US is only as strong as our WEAKEST. Utilitairan philosophy is embedded in our consistituion, like it or not. A healthy, well educated U.S. is a strong one. And frankly the rest of the world is starting to eat our lunch.
btw: Tell China that Utilitarianism and Socialist Agenda doesnt work…. THEY OWN US!
Good grief…get a grip. Yet another mindless, knee-jerk anti-govt moron.
My first attempt at responding didn’t show up, so in case it does, excuse my repetition.
First thing was how am I loosing my liberty? Well being forced into a situation where I cannot choose to not have health insurance, and at what minimum level I have to get coverage. Taking away freedom of choice is taking away liberty. That seems rather obvious to me. But you are correct, you or I do not have a RIGHT to healthcare insurance. Until this bill is passed and we are presented with a mandate that we must have it. Wait, that’s not a right, but an order or demand…you could say that it’s the opposite of freedom…
We are healthier than we have ever been. health is not our problem. Our problem is our general level of education. We have, in part because of a welfare state (you know, those programs you mentioned), come to the point in this country where we are raising generations of ignorant youth. I wish i was just being inflammatory, but ignorant is the nicest word i can think of right now to describe the common graduate of high school that I come across. Yes, obviously there are very brilliant children still, but as you say, its the weakest link, right?
My issues with this bill are all based on the fact that I see it simply as a power grab, dictated by a super progressive president, written by a super progressive base of people, who all believe that the way for the United States to excel is for its people to be controlled to the nth degree.
Yes, I am right about state rights. No, I have absolutely no wish, and I don’t think anyone really does, to be like the common Chinese citizen. If i wanted that, i could move there, as you say. Ofc, so could you.
I don’t dislike the president because of his party, or his physical characteristics. I don’t dislike the president. I dislike where I see him leading this country. I dislike that both sides of the isle have become patsies. I dislike that no one seems to be able to think on their own. I dislike that so many people want the opposite of what I grew up in, what my father and grandfather, and so on fought for.
God help us all , he has the votes to pass this. If last night did anything at all, it told us that he does not care that we don’t want this. He will continue to push till he gets this done.
I will keeping fighting with emails, calls, protest, I will keep talking.
Thank you Glenn for saying the things I want to say.
Tucson
“We don’t want this.” Who is the “we” wesleyane? According to CNN and PRC “Seventy-two percent of those questioned in recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey say they favor increasing the federal government’s influence over the country’s health care system in an attempt to lower costs and provide health care coverage to more Americans, with 27 percent opposing such a move. Other recent polls show six in 10 think the government should provide health insurance or take responsibility for providing health care to all Americans.” Gee, seems like a majority of Americans want health care reform.
You need to use a non political motivated poll. Sure 72% of Obama supporters are for it. Rasmussen polls do not ask what political affiliate you are.
The we is me for one. And opinion polls are misleading, so the majority responds the way the asking party desires, because we are too gullible. And besides opinion polls are 98% useless according to the one i just took here at my work.
I’d like to know who “we” are as well.
And if the polls are so misleading and wrong, on what basis do you all make your claims that “we” Americans don’t want Obama’s plan? Do you get your information from beck? How does he know what the majority of Americans want?
I’m really curious.
Cry me a river. I guess elections do have consequences after all, don’t they? To borrow that old wingnut chestnut…get over it already.
Same old lies same old speech givin many times before.
The title of this article alone is ironic and funny to me. When, in the history of the United States of Amercia has an address from the executive branch to the congressional branch of government not mattered?

“Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand, cause the times they are a changing.” – Boby Dylan. aka your communist my hero.
Bipartisanship! HA! That’s a good one! Go to any of the websites that keep track of all of the voting records and bills and ammendments to bills. Bipartisanship requires that you incorporate into a bill things that are backed by a majority of the other party, not a suggestion by one or two who carry in name only a claim to the opposing party. Again they SAY bipartisan, but what have they DONE?
Words can be manipulated and have no meaning unless they are validated with actions. Words that are contraindicated by actions are known as “LIES”.
What he said:
“The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m president of the United States.” — Sen. Barack Obama, March 31, 2008
What he did:
Appoint 30-44 Czars who are not accountable to anyone other than himself (the executive branch) this while only about 45% of his cabinet appointments have been completed (who do have to have congressional approval) Hmmm.. could he be trying to add more power to the executive brach while circumventing congress. Oh that’s right we are in a “C-R-I-S-I-S”
What was that about transparency he said? Straight from the LA Times dated July 22, 2009
“The still sort-of-new Barack Obama Democratic administration has again adopted another policy straight out of the administration of his much-criticized Republican predecessor, George W. Bush.
Obama administration officials have rejected a watchdog group’s request for a list of healthcare industry executives who’ve been meeting secretly in the White House with Obama staffers to discuss healthcare changes being drafted there and in Congress….But wait! Here are a few promises straight off the Obama Organizing for America website early this morning:
The Problem
Lobbyists Write National Policies: For example, Vice President Dick Cheney’s Energy Task Force of oil and gas lobbyists met secretly to develop national energy policy.
Secrecy Dominates Government Actions: The Bush administration has ignored public disclosure rules and has invoked a legal tool known as the “state secrets” privilege more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil court.
Oh, and this:
Release Presidential Records: Obama and Biden will nullify the Bush attempts to . . .
. . . make the timely release of presidential records more difficult.
And this:
Make White House Communications Public: Obama will amend executive orders to ensure that communications about regulatory policymaking between persons outside government and all White House staff are disclosed to the public.
Conduct Regulatory Agency Business in Public: Obama will require his appointees who lead the executive branch departments and rulemaking agencies to conduct the significant business of the agency in public, so that any citizen can see in person or watch on the Internet these debates.”
What he has done: Met with unions (special intrest group), drug companies etc. behind closed doors, in secret, refused to release White House visitor records before the month of August, surrounded himself with people of at the very least, questionalble character to be his “Advisors”,
WHERE IS THE CHANGE? It is certainly not in the level of corruption that so many of us have dispised for so many years(during all administrations, now that is bipartisan!), so what change is he talking about? Did he lie to the American People or perhaps…the change he was talking about was not about cleaning up Washington to make it more respectable, perhapse the change he spoke of was really “Transformation” of our system where the seat of power is entirely within the Executive branch. Are you really willing to give the President alone that much power? Who will hold the office next? In thirty years? Will it be your guy? Beware the policies of anyone who seeks power, the office is finite.
BTW saw Dylan in concert about a month ago, walked out early, music was good, singing stunk!
I heard nothing new from the O’Chosen One…just the same ‘ol rhetoric mixed with deceit. The same soundbites, the same BS, the same mumbo-jumbo that no one believes (or is buying into) except Piglosi & Dingy Harry.
BTW-who are the 50 million that need insurance? Where are they listed, I have yet to see a list of names and/or birth certificates.
That’s because they are undocumented pre-qualified occupants that haven’t had to show proof of residency…yet.
The speech was the same as they Dem’s have been doing since the Obama mistake and many years previous. Say whatever the sofa spuds want to hear, make them feel good. And lying through their teeth. The Dem’s will follow their own aganda anyway. They claim to want a bipartisan bill. They mean they want Rep’s to accept the Dem’ bill. They say they want public input. They ignore the outcry from all fronts of America. They claim to want to cut cost. They ignore the reasons costs are so high and their efforts will either raise the costs or (most likely) cut the services. the Rep’s are little or no better.
I am an Independent. I did not vote for Rep’ or Dem’ and have no plans to support either. Reagan received my last “lesser of two evils” vote. The Rep’s are no longer conservatives. The Dem’s are moving much faster toward socialism. Yes, we have been moving sowing toward socialism. Does that make it wise? NO. Socialism has been tried in every possible manner and the outcome is always the same, revolution, by ballot or bullet,
Apparently, beck knew the speech “was the same” before he even saw it, if he indeed watched it.
Is the man now clairvoyant?
Jeez, beck supporters will believe anything.
Our forefathers fought for our FREEDOMS, they gave their blood, sweat, fortunes, and very lives! WE THE PEOPLE must stand together, UNITED AS ONE, and tell the government NO MORE we have had enough! We must protect what our forefathers died for!
I really am fed up! My son recently joined the Marine Corp and I am so very proud of him yet so scared for him!
We have a small business, been running since 2005 out of our home. Year end last year, we made enough money and had worldwide recognition that we were prepared to go to the next step. Open a paintball field and store with our product on display! We were in a position to begin taking on employees! That dream is dead! Our sales are drying up – not sure, scared to death – if we will survive . . . . .
I’m very angry – and more even more so because my government calls me a radical, UNAMERICAN!
I can assure you that I am not a radical, for YEARS I have stayed quiet like so many other Americans – NOT ANYMORE!
I did not vote for the SOB! But now my son is serving him. What about him, the SOB, serving US, the American People? I thought it was FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE!
I know that many of those that voted him in believed in his “CHANGE” rhetoric . . .
Based off what I hear and see (believe me, I’ve been looking at as many blogs as I can find) that many of those same voters are now seeing that his “change” policy is geared towards an overhaul of the entire government, a radical change of our constitution and our rights!
It’s happening before our eyes and where it not for those like Beck I’m not so sure the media would have picked it up until it was too late . . . .
I for one am really tired of the Right, Left and Independent Parties! I’m a registered Republican cause it fits me best – but they along with everyone else is losing site of the prize, FREEDOM!
Our country has already fought and won a war for freedom – why the hell do we need to go thru this again?
OK, I voted for Bush twice! I really believed in him once, but now I’m seeing that he was so focused on foreign affairs that he ignored the far left socialist agenda. Think about it – the last 8 years is when we started hearing more about political correctness – students being suspended because of ridiculous reasons, etc. Bush’s blind eyes caused this – and now WE MUST STOP IT!
I believe that NOW is the time for a new party – a party for the PEOPLE, a party, “The New People’s Republic”, with the motto that MUST be upheld – “For the People – By the People”. If you fail to uphold that VERY basic principal, than YOU ARE OUT!
I really think, I really believe that America is ready for this now – I really believe that were there such a party formed there would be Americans, from both the Left, Right, and those in-between to be lined up out the door to sign up!!!!!!
Problem is – I don’t know how to start it – I’m just your average Joe, don’t even know where to start . . . . .
Just know we have to start somewhere – our country and EVERYTHING our Founding Fathers stood for
will be lost . . . . . . .
In history . . . . . . .
To be found a hundred years from now . . . . .
just a writing on an obscure stone . . . . . .
FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE.. is right. MAJORITY RULES BUD. Majority!
Actually, since this is not a democracy (which is majority rule), it is a Constitutional Republic a president can be elected even when a Majority of the people did not vote for him. Considering that our voter turn out is usually under 60%, even if a candidate manages to get 50% of the votes, it means that he gains office by garnering only around 30% support of the eligible voting public. That is far from the “Majority”.
Majority rules? Not so much.
This isn’t a Democracy. This is a Republic. Perhaps you should learn what our system is all about, before making feeble attempts to comment on it.
There is a new web site worth checking http://www.goooh.com stands for get out of my house looking for 500,000 members. When they reach that number they will ask for $100.00 donation will raise 50 mil to finance true conservatives to run for congress. Worth reading the info.
You know, I was very, very angry when my government and conservative talking heads called me a “left wing loon,” a “traitor,” and “unpatriotic” when I was against the Iraq War.
Many people died (and continue to do so) in the Iraq War, a war that was started on at best, faulty intelligence, and at worst, based on lies. Over 4300 brave U.S. military personnel died; tens of thousands have been severely wounded, mentally and physically; and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis were killed and wounded.
And because I was against the deaths of my fellow Americans for no good reason, and I was against the deaths of innocent Iraqis, I am called such names? But beck and his followers get all upset because Obama wants to improve the healthcare system and because they think their taxes may go up (and they probably will)? Even though our tax rates are the lowest they have been in decades? Even though Bush is the first President ever not to raise taxes during a time of war?
Something is seriously wrong with this country when we value money over people’s health and when we value money more than our soldiers dying unnecessarily. Our priorities are very screwed up.
Our Founding Fathers would not be very proud of the morality of beck.
GBC: I don’t consider you a loon because you oppose the Iraq war. I can understand your argument against “faulty” intelligence. I think one of our biggest screw-ups leading to the Iraq war was the fact that we talked about it for almost 8 months, allowing Hussein all the time in the world to play the shell game with his toys. In fact, 4 months before we went in we received photos from Russia showing lots of trucks leaving suspected chemical warfare manufacturing sites. The media only reported on this for a single day, then went back to sleep. For my money, I’d bet my paycheck that many of these weapons wound up in the hands of the Syrians, which is where many of these trucks went.
You made reference to the Founding Fathers. In my opinion, if the Founders looked at the 20th century as a whole, they wouldn’t even recognize any of it’s presidents as one of their own, save for perhaps JFK and Ronald Reagan. Our country derailed from the tracks many years ago, and continues to do so today.
T-Bone
There is NOT a fine in the Republican proposal. Why don’t you read it. HR 3400. 63 pages. I’m sure you can manage that.
God Bless Glen Beck !! Keep ‘the Truth’ coming !!…
Do you watch/listen to/read him?!?! He is nothing but a Truth-Free zone.
Be careful who you believe…
I was just searching for an answer, and it’s been there all along.
Daniel 7:25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
The chapter is fairly clear. It gives me hope. Like Glenn does, I just showed you the snippet. Read the whole chapter for context, it is quite clear, open your heart, and pray for understanding, and I believe it will be clear to you.
Here is a clue.
In Daniel 7:24 it says …and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings.
We know he is diverse from the former. Who are the 3 Kings? The modern state or Israel is one, who are the other 2 Kingdoms that came fourth up and out from the US that He must put down in order to succeed?
Wow, so you are the guy wearing the sign in Times Square chanting, “The end is nigh!” It’s amazing the things I also found in the Bible. Mostly the red lettered events where Jesus took bread and fish and multiplied it to feed the hungry (free of charge and at his own expense) or where he healed the sick, raised the dead, and died for all others (might I mention free of charge). Christianity by right is Socialism. The salvation offered by the most high, undeserved by the masses, but free none the less. Salvation, the ultimate handout.
As a former Marine and currently a Nurse working in social medicine (VA), I would like for all fellow Christians to remember that Jesus didn’t tell the sick, “Your pre existing Acne has disqualified you from payment of care; therefore, I cannot cure you of leprosy.” I left the private health care industry to serve America’s finest population, the Armed Forces Veteran. I was tired of having to give minimal care at high costs to the uninsured, only to bill that cost to the insured through tax breaks and raised recuperation costs. I now work in socialized medicine. I had excellent socialized medicine when in the military which protected my entire family and paid all expenses required, and now I work in the VA system which provides coverage to veteran’s who can not afford medicine otherwise. Why can’t we extent some form of care to all of America’s men, women and children? Why do we fight to protect human life (abortion) in the name of Jesus only to allow the uninsured to die also in the name of Jesus. That which we do to the littlest among us, do we not do to him also?
Daniel 7:25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
Glen Beck speaks out against the President, a man trying to do God’s work.
I believe every soul on this planet is worth more than all the treasures of the world!
I am a sinful man, and I spoke before I was confident. I believe 7:24 is probably describing the Bill of Rights. If I am right, than those who read this might be blessed! I do not mean to deceive, but cannot just keep this to myself, because it was given to me, and how can I not share what is?
Daniel 7:24-25
24 As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings. 25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
I haven’t read the Word of God in so many years. I’ve read it 3 times since Obama was elected. God seems to have awakened those of us that have been sleeping. I’ve been praying that God would help me in my unbelief. I have been hiding from him for so long. I have trying to find him. No one who has my heart wants to hurt anyone, and if I were like Jesus, I would heal if I could.
Mark 8:15 He charged them, saying, “Take heed: beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”
Trusting in the state (Herod) or false teachers is a warning. The Lamb of God is who he is! He is real! He has called out to any that would listen. He is coming! Trust only the Word, for I believe it is written on our hearts and minds if we are called to his purpose.
I did not write these things to bash Obama’s healthcare plan. I wrote it because it was written for you and anyone else who wants to believe. I love my country, and I love you. I’m sorry if I offend, but I assure you, I’m just trying to do my part to help.
First, Thank You for your service to our nation….Semper Fi
GOD did not send his only begotten son to earth to serve as the Emperor of Rome…or even as a member of the Roman Senate……
I suggest to to you and the President, if doing GODS work is his mission, he should return to Illinois and heal the Reverend Wright
Thanks for serving our country… I’m grateful for all those that served and are serving. However….
Please don’t compare my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to our degrading government socialist system. He was not of this “world” neither any self-proclaimed Christian is of this world. Yes, I work for the state of California and I’m thankful to receive healthcare because I work, but, if we allow the government to subsidize healthcare it will only put a strain on the current system… it will only become worse. Don’t be deceived by the speech– look at what is going on behind the scenes. I have to say the military is treated highly-well when it comes to medical issues. My brother served in the Air Force and received the best medical treatment possible compared to civilians.
And, yes, we have to protect human life– it is our DUTY… whether it’s a baby or an elderly person.
Remember, Jesus was GOD. He made something out of nothing. He healed by speaking. The idea that you could compare Obama (a mere man) to GOD himself is just plain ridiculous. God also told us to be good stewards of what he gave us. You can’t provide for everyone without appropriate provisions. Adding to debt by spending is not being a good steward. This is why America is in the mess we’re in now. Wanting something for nothing seems to be the problem with our society. Why should taxpayers provide cars, homes, health care, etc. for anyone that doesn’t put forth the effort to provide for themselves. God also told us that he who does not work should not eat. (2 Thes 3:10) THIS DOESN’T SOUND FREE TO ME!!!! By the way, I have been a nurse for 20+ years and the VA is known to be one of the most inefficient and poorest quality health care systems in the industry.
You are crazy if you think VA medical treatment is up to par. Enough said!
B.o. doing “Gods work”, OMG, please, PLEASE, make sure you let people know this feeling you have BEFORE you administer any aid to them. You truly need some professional help FAST! That has to be one of the scariest things I have ever heard!!!!!
I agree. The people who now surround Obama, including Pelosi, are petrifying. And I can’t help being appalled that some of my hard earned dollars are now going toward the salaries of same; yes, Obama is managing to spread my meager wealth around to people who are anti-hunting, meat hating, abortion loving communists (albeit one communist is now out, thank you Glenn) etc., etc. the likes of whom I would NEVER support. How much of the taxpayers dollars goes to these czars.
Glenn is right-there is much at stake and everyday they push something through before anyone even realizes it was proposed-like the regulatory czar-another odd pick for a country that calls itself free.
I disagree. I believe it is important. This Healthcare nonsense will set the tone for the balance of Obama’s term. He needs to fail and fail BIG! By failing it will make it harder for him to “slip in” Progressive teams mates, and accomplish his” progressive agenda”. What scares me is that if this bill passes in anything resembling its current form we as tax payers are done for and have opened a door to much worse abuses of power.
“Hi, I’m with the IRS and I’m here to collect your unpaid medical bills”.
Glenn, you are generally a pretty sharp cat in my book but I feel you have dropped the ball on this one. Please keep an ear to the ground for me on the vote. This health care plan is not worth the paper it is written on, it needs to be scrapped. You gave the President a freebie today… I can deal with that, but if this thing looks like it might be gathering momentum… load both barrels for me would you! I have to get back to work and I am thankful that you are keeper of the flame.
Obama is the master of Disaster. He likes to get into that old time religion chant mode but the message is bogus.
Just watch, he will find out in 2 years his initial reforms do not work and magically, the public option will be slipped in.
Just say NO to the entire program.
VOTE OUT ANY POLITICIAN ON ANY SIDE THAT VOTES FOR OBAMA’s PLANS.
If he wants to lead a socialist nation please go back to some country he inhabited in the Pacific that wants socialism.
You have socialism. You have kids in public schools. You drive on interstate freeways that Eisenhower made by taxing the rich at 84%. You have social security waiting for you when you retire (thus far). You have the right to be defended in court even if you cannot afford it. You have your parents with the right to medical care when they are elderly.
That is all socialized services… just the ones I’ve rattled off in 5 minutes. You rely on these services everyday and would you call yourself a socialist? People who voted for Obama wanted Single Payer on the table, but it wasn’t there. If Public Option handles the problems just fine, please explain the circumstances that the American public would tolerate moving to Single Payer?
About 50% of the American public are willing to move to Govenment run and tax payer funded health care. Yes we are ever increasingly Socialist country. That is exactly why those of us that know better, as taught by history, are shouting from the roof tops against this next step. If the majority votes to “nuke” California and eliminate the earthquake danger; is it the right thing to do?
The truth is, this is all just one little part of a much bigger plan. America, beware. Study your history…
I couldn’t agree with you more!!!!!!!! It is really scary to see that so many people are fooled by this government it seem that people have rose colored glasses on and everything that is done is okay with them way to many czars that are really going to change America for the worse and it will happen if people don’t wake up
I am very disappointed in all of the Americans that watch Glenn Beck. ( I am unfortunate in that I must watch fox news 8 hours a day, 5 days a week) Everything Glenn Beck says is creating hate for our president. We may not all agree with the policies that Obama is trying to in sue, but we should not have a “news” show devoted to mocking his presidency. Glenn Beck you are such a child.
As for health care, I don’t agree one hundred percent with Obama’s speech. (since I decided to take time out my busy day to tune in) I don’t believe that health care can be solved over night, but something must be done about the way our insurance is handled. If you don’t believe the insurance companies are flawed, then you have never met people like my sister. She served her country for 2 years in the peace corp and has come back to find herself insurance less because of previous conditions. She is now missing the 3rd world coverage health care that she received during her service, paid for by the government!
We need to help all Americans get the care they need, not just the ones who “qualify” for it.
We just hate Obama’s socialist agenda. Color, sex whatever does not matter, it is the content of his socialist character that is dangerous.
wow!! it’s too bad you have to get 40 hrs of the truth every week!!!
i really think youre not paying attention when you watch and only getting the small picture.
this administration is mocking everything america stands for and you idiots don’t get it.
keep watching Glenn and eventually it will sink in. he is 150% correct 95% of the time.
ask yourself why the other media isnt even giving half truths on any subject that goes against OOObama
How can you type that with a straight face?! That whole rif he did about the Nazis being an outgrowth of progressive principals? Practically every thing he said was laughable on its face. Since when was Rockefeller a progressive?? In what universe. And it went on from there.
Total nonsense. He is playing his audience all the way to the bank. Pure shameless showmanship for personal game. Shame on him.
I’m sorry to hear about the problems your sister has encountered with healthcare, but it’s health insurance reform which is needed which can only be realized through true competition and not government intervention. Let all insurance companies compete throughout the U.S. and not just within selected states. If they all had to compete amoung themselves, maybe they wouldn’t be giving out excessive bonuses. We also need TORT reform.
The liberals just keep missing the message. Beck is not challenging Obama as a person, but his policies and the radical people who surround him to help make policy which is in direct conflict with the Constitution. Beck is placing blame on the overall process which needs fixing, and as you said it can’t happen overnight, so why is Obama pushing for an overnight solution. We all know that overnight solutions typically take many years to fix.
Plain and simple Glenn Beck is an idiot that found the secret to abundant wealth ala Limbaugh, Hannity; scare the masses with hate and biigotry.
Then it should be easy to cite a lie by any of them, a fact in opposition to their claims, some evidence of their errors regarding the Health Care debate. I noticed all you had to throw at them was your own hate and bigotry.
Then it should have been easy to cite a lie, error, falsehood, etc. All you have in defense is your own hate and bigotry. Hmm, maybe the mirror is your problem.
Should say ARE, not is. This it your typical response, name calling, when you can’t intelligently state facts to back up what you say. He is an idiot because you don’t like him, not because he isn’t intelligent. You are entitled not to like him and disagree, but the name calling is immature. The truth is often scary.
sticks & stones Howard. Rewards for speaking the truth is no secret…
Howard,
So does that mean you purchased Beck’s new book “How To Argue With Idiots”? Maybe it will help you figure him out. LOL
The constitution says we have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I, for one, know too many people whose lives, liberties, and happiness are being destroyed by the present chaos of our health care system. Whether denied coverage by fine print, forced into bankruptcy, or just changing jobs and so losing coverage, people at all economic levels, including business owners are being dramatically affected by this spiraling mess we call the American health care system. Even if one does not see it as constitutional right, the present system is crushing our economy and small business. It is a vast slush fund giving marginal benefits. Is it so crazy to see if American ingenuity cannot come together and develop a system of public and private solutions with some guarantees for catastrophic care?
If that’s so unreasonable, then purists and their goverment reps should also be willing to dump Medicare, Medicaid, all children’s health programs, and while we’re at it, any subsidized housing, social security, and food stamps. Although I consider myself conservative, and would love a chance to rework many of these programs, I can appreciate some of their benefits. I would be very curious to know how many posters and/or their families take advantage of at least one of those government programs.??
Actually, its the declaration of independence which speaks of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It has nothing to do with governance but lays out an argument for why we could dissolve ties with England.
Please know the documents which you try and cite.
Our present healthcare system is not crushing our economy. It is almost 20% of our economy and has been growing due to the fact that most of our businesses have outsourced production outside our country. Our current government budget is being crushed by the government’s insistence on trying to cover more and more of the personal expenses of the population. These social programs you cite belong to the states to control, not the central government.
I don’t portend to speak for anyone else here but I believe most of us do not disagree with the fact that our healthcare system is imperfect. I have a daughter myself who because of a pre-existing condition is uninsurable. The bone of contention is HOW do we fix it?
We want to get it right so that 10 years from now we have not discovered that what was a proposal to ‘fix” the problem, has only created a larger one.
Why the rush? Although I would very much like to no longer have to pay out of pocket for my daughter’s expenses, let’s get it right so that we do not have the fraud found in medicare, the “Oops! We underestimated the costs of Social Security” or the ability of some to defraud the system such as what happens often in other social programs.
It personally makes me very nervous that some are so willing to quickly turn over a decision as important as healthcare to a federal government that can not run with any efficiency existing social programs. If all of us who are saying “slow down, read the bill, listen to the people before rushing into anything, THINK!” are wrong, then the worst that can happen is we will be called “Crazy right wing nuts”(Oh that is right, been there done that) but if we are correct, and HR 3200 was the financial and administrative disaster we thought it was, imagine the consequences for this Country! It is like I told my daughter, I want her to have healthcare coverage, but I want her to have access to the best healthcare coverage. Her health and well being are worth taking a good hard look at anything coming across the desks of our representitves.
Judy, as mentioned please check the documents you cite. The Constitution does not provide for Health Care for all. It does ENUMERATE several of the rights of the People. This is often misunder stood as giving us those rights. Rights are natural. They cannot be given or taken. We are born with them. An easy example is breathing. We have the right to breath. The governement cannot limit our breathing. Any action that is willful and intentional and curtails our breathing should be cited as a criminal act. However, if our body, by birth, accident, our own misguided manipulation, etc. becomes unable to draw breath, it is not the responsibility of government to take over our breathing. It would be nice. I was an EMT and trained for that purpose. That did not obligate me to do so.
Governement cannot GRANT a right. It may only achknowledge and protect them. Health care is NOT a right. Obama is using this, as all the progrmas you listed are being used. To guide us slowly toward socialism. This may be the point of NO return on that path.
So Glenn doesn’t want to watch his President because his speech does’t matter?
Right, nimrod.
Just like accusing the President of being a racist who hates white people (hey stupid — did you know his mother was white and he was partially raised by his white grandparents? Hates white people? That makes as much sense as saying “Glenn Beck hates stupid people”, since Glenn Beck is stupid.)
However, when Beck said the President is a racist, it did matter, because about 57 companies have stopped advertising on his hate show. Personally, I like to watch Glenn because it’s fun to see him cry with his fat pasty face. It’s almost as fat as Rush Limbaugh’s, but of course, as a drug addict Limbaugh does have weight issues.
Hey MinnesotaTom! You are being immature by name calling and ranting. If you do no agree with Glenn Beck or anyone else simply say “I disagree with Glenn Beck. Obama is not a racist who hates white people.” Calling someone stupid or a drug addict who’s fat is simply a distraction from the main issue or topic of discussion.
Why don’t you keep on watching mainstream media to get your info Minnesota tom From the first time the messiah spoke I knew it was not going to be good for AMERICA and so far he has not let me down by the time he leaves office there will be a new america and it isn’t going to be pretty that is what I feel and the so called news media nbc, abc, cbs, msnbc and cnn are all for the messiah and his agenda and I am not and I pray everyday that his agenda does not get passed but so far there is an election cycle that happens every two and four years unless he decides he want to be like chavez and others that like to control your life and tell you when you can speak and walk I hope and pray that we can last another three years with his social agenda. He reminds me a the thugs in the mob if you disagree with him he tries to bury you but I will never be under his rule or the demo’s rule that is not what my parents taught me they taught me that what is mine is mine and what is yours is yours and if I want to share that should be left up to me and not anyone else and when the government starts to take control of that then we are in real trouble. I could care less what anyone else has they earned it for themselves and there familes and not to foot the bill for alot of deadbeat ;azy people that don’t want to work would rather lay on the couch and watch pimp my ride or polish there wheels or talk on a cell phone that they can afford but not health insurance Everyone should have insurance but not on my dime I have worked for along time and I have insurance for me and my husband and he has two and I have one policy and we are on a fixed income so don’t tell me that some can’t afford health they just choose other things to buy that they really should get unless they can afford it but that is like the housing how many homes did you buy with the bailout on the foreclosures? I paid mine off why should I have to pay for someones else’s house because they fell in the government trap that everyone deserves a home and they couldn’t afford it. So to me the goverment is one evil branch of the world that we shouldn’t have like we do.
Navywife… who has Obama tried to bury? And… who keeps referring to him as the messiah?
Lazy People? so your impression is that it would be better to not give healthcare to 47 million people because it would include the 4 million welfare deadbeats?
Have you ever considered that of those 4 million that psychological help could break a number of them out of their laziness? (Or have you never undergone severe psychological difficulty like Glenn and I both have?)
Also… pimp my ride is a cable show. Who do you know in government housing who can afford cable?
And finally… what do you have, what ONE shred of evidence do you have to support any of what you just said?
t-bone There are not 47 million americans without health care after you take off the illegal immigrants, the younger generation that think that they don’t need health care right now then the ones that have not signed up for medicare the numbers I would say are alot lower than 47 million. And yes there are alot of lazy people out there that are living off alot of the americans that are out there working to put food on there table plus about two to three other families because they feel it is owed to them. Oh heck I wasn’t smart enough to know that pimp my ride is on cable and I’m sure that alot that are in government housing still have cable so blow that somewhere else. I see alot everyday we have ones that the rims cost more than the car and then they have the cell phone then you go to the grocery line and then out comes the stamps and wic dressed to the nines and I can say that the food stamp recipient eats better than the man that has a good paying job. In the state that I live we had a hurricanne last year and a group was giving out gift cards to the community that lost everything that they had and people from as far away a 100 miles showed with there hands out and got mad when the group ask for there address and they showed there butts so I have alot of evidence to back up what I type just take off your rose colored glasses and look around if you can not that I need to reply to your liberal thoughts. As for the messiah that was said back when he was out on the lying campaign trail like what he is doing now with the health care.
Hello Minnesota Tom, this is Minnesota Gone, That is all I have to say to you, but to everyone else I want to say Tommy is just a miserable Troll to be ignored. Don’t waste your time.
T-Bone? You suffer from “acute entitlement mentality”. You argue, that obviously we should GIVE healthcare to 47 million people. Why the hell does everyone in this country feel they should be given anything. None of the liberties we enjoy were free. Free to some of us, but someone paid a price. Life, liberty, and the the pursuit of happiness with no guaranteed outcome are rights that fellow Americans paid for. Welfare is a gift that has been long abused. Most on welfare have been for some time and have no intentions of standing on their own two feet. Physcological treatment for laziness? Are you kidding me. That is the most ignorant notion I have ever heard. You can’t fix sorry. You can, however, quit giving handouts. By the way, I see Escalades with $10,000 rims in the ghetto while children run around half nude. I stand in line while a woman pays for choice cut steaks and shrimp with food stamps and then pulls out a wad of cash to buy beer and newports. Uh, I think they can afford cable. I once had a woman leave a message on my machine(she obviously had the wrong number) stating that she heard I would be interested in buying $100 woth of food stamps for $80. She obviously appreciates the hand out and just needs some physcological help to get off her ass and work for hers right? God help us with these liberal idots who keep eating from the table that I am tired of working to put bread on! P.S. Do my personal experiences count as evidence?
I still don’t know why this is such a hot button issue for Obama. It appears to be more important to him than what is happening in Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Israel and the drug Cartel combined. Glen is right, there is a whole lot more at stake here then healthcare. Will Obama raise his own private security law enforcement similar to a revolutionary/elite guard soon? What do you people think?
I don’t believe he is going to try and create an armed mob to rule us. I think he hopes to be much slicker than that. I think that in their own minds these people think they are being high minded. Here is what I believe drives them. Climate Change is a huge thing among those in the Left. So is social justice. Many people in the climate change movement feel that the US uses way too much of the planet’s resources. The social justice people believe that the US possesses too much of the world’s wealth. I believe they want to redistribute what they can and hamper our economic activity to free up resources for other nations. Our economy is driven by personal consumption and the public won’t give it up voluntarily. But, if our taxes rise precipitously and energy costs skyrocket as Obama himself has said, we won’t be able to consume as much. Of course, we will also lose millions of jobs in the process as our competitiveness is destroyed. Now, if this crowd believes their duty is to the Earth and their allegiance is owed to humanity as a whole then its not hard to see why they might want to do what they are doing.
Badman… this is one of the two primary reasons we voted for Obama. We have Gates and Clinton to handle the likes of North Korea, Iran and Israel.
And he is pushing forward in Afghanistan. He’s about to send more troops (much to the chagrin of liberal and conservative alike).
Obama and secret police? How would you even reach that conclusion? Because he once shook hands with Hugo Chavez? Because his FCC chair believes that certain media outlets are in the pockets of the financial and insurance sectors and they are spreading lies to increase fear among the people?
It’s not him that increased the power of the executive branch. And those secret police? Have been at the president’s side for a very, very long time.
t bone, clinton is not handling north korea, iran, or Israel. She couldn’t even handle the trip to south africa when someone messed up and said her husband and not bo she lost it but i’m sure you have a good excuse for her to have lost it. Others are handling what she should be handling on here job. When he shook little mans hand (chavez) it showed right there that he would as the saying goes if you lay with dogs you will get fleas. His fcc chair it’s not about media outlets being in the pockets of anyone it is that there are not any democracts that have talk shows on tv or radio there are more conservatives and all you have to do is look at the ratings and they show because cnn msnbc abc cbs abc are all on the bottom of fox the only other stations that top fox is usa and tnt as for the increase in power of the executive branch how many czars does it take to run the branch how many does bo have and he is steady bringing them on board and one day when your rights are taken away then the rose glasses come off you’ll say what the hell happen I didn’t see that coming. good luck in your fairytale world we on this project live in reality good luck in your world
I have believed from almost day one of the Obama administration that he would use regulation like no other president before him. This is what all the czars are for. They will be able to coordinate regulation across the cabinet departments to try to achieve their desired results. This will be much more difficult to stop than legislation because it can be done completely in the executive branch of government. If he loses on Cap and Tax in Congress then the EPA will enact stifling carbon regulations. They have the power to do so because the Supreme Court ruled that CO2 was covered under the Clean Air Act. They will look for ways of protecting “endangered species” that further their goals. We will likely see an explosion of threatened species as well. Each one added to the list will increase government power. They will also likely sneak some new law through Congress. The Dems might be spooked away from the big stuff but they still have the clout to move a lot of smaller bills through. Ultimately the fight will have to move into the courts with the hope we can run the clock out on Obama before too much damage is done.
Did I hear something about fines for those who don’t have insurance!!?? I am furious about this (and sick & tired of libs not understanding that there are many of us who c h o o s e to NOT have insurance) We are a family of 5 and have not had insurance for over 10 years — by choice. We use a share group which has paid for the birth of our last child, and for a $13,000.00 surgery etc. We are happy with our choice and certainly don’t want govt telling us what we must do with our own money.
Fines for having no insurance are also in the Republican Plan.
Please understand this is not just a liberal issue. There are fines in the Republican Plan as well.
Hi defendliberty,
You say you don’t have health insurance for your family, but you use a share group which has paid for your medical expenses. Can you explain what this share group is? Is it something like a co-op?
I believe the President. He took an oath afterall. Who would break their oath?
There IS a first time for everything.
The only brave person in the room shouted out their displeasur, Great Job.. At least one member had some back bone.
If I recall correctly, one morning President Obama said that the government is not in the car business, and later we are in the car business and he is asking the general manager to step down. It is not what he say’s, it’s what he does that has everyone one on edge.
But he still isn’t in the car business. If you were mayor of a town and the biggest business in the town was run into the ground by a careless CEO and you bailed out that company… wouldn’t you want to tell the careless CEO to step down for the good of the town?
the real question is: Where did he get the authority to bail out the auto industry in the first place. The Constitution gives him no authority to buy a car company or circumvent the established process of bankruptcy.
He took an oath to uphold and defend The Constitution. He has circumvented the Constitution since he took the oath.
All we are going to hear is the same garbage he has been saying everytime he shows his face on TV. All Lies!!!!!!! He doesn’t care what the American people want, just what he wants!!!!! He is trying to shove his beliefs down our throats and we don’t want anything to do with what he believes. I’m glad I didn’t vote for him. He isn’t my President as far as I’m concerned.
He is your president if you live in the US. He offered his agenda last year and a majority of Americans voted for him and his agenda. If you don’t like him or his agenda, you’re out of touch with the majority of your neighbors.
Talk about being out of touch…
MinnesotaTom, my neighbors voted against Obama as did I… that is a fact. It is your opinion, not a fact, that if you don’t like Obama’s agenda you are out of touch with the majority of your neighbors. By the way, most polls (Rasmussen, Gallup, Zogby, etc.) today show Obama is out of touch in regards to healthcare.
Tom, you are under the incomplete belief that we live in a Democracy. That is only half correct. It is a democratic Republic. We do vote to affect many outcomes. However, we are a Republic, the original law of the land (Constitution) trumps all. If it does not fit in there, it is not a Federal function and reserved to the INDIVIDUAL states. Any action that is willful and intentional and curtails our breathing sould be cited as a criminal act.
Tom,
Maybe so Obama got the majority vote, but what percent of that vote was stolen by ACORN? I think “Your” majority is rethinking and now has voter remorse.
Based on how liberal this country has gotten, I’d say I have been out of touch with the majority of my neighbors way before the obamanation. I am just glad my fore fathers were conservative enough in their views and patriotic enough to go to war so liberals would have the freedom to protest war in English.
I’ll be watching just to hear Obama’s his next list of lies.
I’ll see ya’ll in DC this weekend. Come join us..Please!
How many times did Nancy Pelosey blink? From what I studied, the more a person blinks the more they have to hide……. And yes I am sliding more and more towards the “Right”.
Thank you Glenn for getting the word out to all of us who are trying to do the right things every day of our lives and we must stand together and fight this machine that’s being created in Washington. You are so right, Obama is not interested in our Health Care plan. His motives are for more sinnister….If he were so concerned about we the people he wouldn’t let his Aunt live in Public Housing or his Brother in poverty all these years. A genuine person would have helped take them from their situations and make life better. It’s going to be a very long process to 2012 America. Buckle up;;;;So glad there are people like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity to help with our fight. Thank you guys…Lori Buchanan
Ultimately, Obama does not care whether or not we believe him, This entire thing is a charade. The goal of his administration and one only has to look at the backgrounds of the President himself and the men and women he surrounds himself with is to change the entire fabric of our country. The United States of America that our founders fought so hard and sacrificed so much to give us and that so many others have fought so hard to preserve is not the country that Barack Obama and his friends in Congress want us to be when they are finished making their “changes”. In fact one of the reasons IMHO that he wants to ram all of this stuff sown our throats so speedily is that he as afraid that as the American people begin to wise up as more and more of us are, he will have less time to accomplish his goals. Liberty _n_ Justice _4_all is correct when he says it’s not about health, it is about power and also change, very dangerous power and change as far as I am concerned.
It is sad that the Office of the President has become so denegrated, that we cannot believe anything that he says. As Jefferson once said with regards to Totalitarians infiltrating the Federalist party..
“Under that name lurks the heritical sect of Monarchists afraid to wear their own name. They creep under the mantle of Federalism…these men have no right to office! If a Monarchist be in office anywhere and it be known to the President, the oath he has taken to support the Constitution imperiously requires the instantaneous dismisssion of such officer and I hold the president criminal if he permitted such to remain!”
I give no creedence to what he SAYS, but I will be WATCHING (and reading the bill) what he DOES!
We’ve already seen and heard that anytime his lips are moving, he’s LYING, just like most politicians!!
Everything he has said and done these first 8 months, has been a dismal failure and he isn’t smart enough to realize it or listen to the people who are smarter than him!!
His education just proves, even idiots can get a degree when it’s paid for, but in the end, you just have an idiot with a degree that was paid for!! By the way, that also includes the idiots with a degree that voted for this idiot with a degree and NOW they realize what a huge mistake that was!!!! WHY do you have a problem with Truth, Facts and Evidence????
All degrees are paid for and if you had been smart enough to get into college, you would know this. I know this. I went to a private college and went to graduate school at the University of Minnesota (funded with public dollars). My wife went to a private college for her BA and a private university for her M.A. and to the University of Minnesota for her PH.D. Since we have 5 undergrad and grad degrees between us, we’re very familiar with the fact that degrees must be paid for.
You’re not being smart enough to get into college, much less Columbia or Harvard Law School, doesn’t mean that those who did are idiots. You’re projecting a bit here about your own educational inadequacies.
Oh, did I mention that with our five degrees we also voted for Obama? And gave his campaign about $1,300?
And that we did that knowing our taxes would go up since we make well over $250,000?
As two small business owners, we support the President, especially what he’s trying to do in health care over the objections of nitwits who like insurance companies telling them that their claim won’t be paid.
move to Cuba, with all your degrees and socialized med. this why we live in America, FREEDOM. Thou they say that all those degrees don’t compare to life experience. you know experience what our President is lacking. you make well over 250k and you only gave $1300. wow last of the big spenders!
What, with all your degrees, I guess that means only your opinion makes any sense for the country?? How many millions didn’t vote for Obama? Not to mention all those who did that wish they hadn’t! Compromise comes from all directions. He only sees one…HIS! Kind of like, oh I don’t know,…YOU!
I almost don’t want to waste my time but here goes. First, I don’t think anyone could pat you on your back harder than you have thus far. Secondly, your first post at the top certainly is no reflection of your said education. Thirdly, being owners of two small businesses (which you ironically mentioned make over $250,000),why would you elect a president who implemented tax increases for businesses who make over $250,000 annually. That really is no amount of money especially for a business with employees. The president raised taxes, than mentions companies no longer offering health insurance. I ‘ll let you use your college to do the math on why that is. Last but not least, what Obama is trying to do with healthcare is doomed. Name one country with government controlled healthcare that is doing well. I can give you a handful that are not. Besides, how well has the government managed medicare and social security.? You obviously haven’t seen the care the government gives our own veterans. If they can’t manage healthcare for our veterans any better, what makes you think they can managed yours?
So you have 5 degrees between you and can’t read the bills, compare the historical records, comprehend the figures the GBO put out, and understand the Obama has lied to you. You have proven the argument you countered.
MinnesotaTom,
If I were you I wouldn’t brag too much about your degrees from Minnesota. Afterall Minnesota voted for Jessie Ventura, a former WWF wrestler for governor and Al Franken, a comedian for your U.S. Senator. What a laughable record you all have for electing your government officials. Must be spending too much time on the ice fishing?
Well Like I have always said……”Some of the dumbest people I have ever met were college graduates”
AKA…..Book smart without a lick of common sense
What evidence? About what?
I think it is funny. Glenn Beck lies about whatever will get him the highest ratings. I would like to see some TRUTH or Honor from Mr Beck. When he and others of his ilk lie to the American public it goes to show that P.T. Barnum was right. . You can never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the America People. Fortunately his sponsors have enough honor to pull advertising!!THIS WAY TO THE EGRESS!!
Well damyankeedem I guess P.T. Barnum has overestimated you and your fellow progressives intelligence.
Glenn,
Please, please please publish the names of the spineless Republican Senators that voted FOR the new Regulatory czar.

Being the liar that Obama is, whatever he says can be taken with a grain of salt.
I would have to agree with you… like a townhall guy said on CNBC.. “This is not about health, it’s about power”
