Where Is The Outrage At Congressman Grayson’s Remarks?

Congressman Alan Mark Grayson represents Florida’s 8th congressional district. This was a planned presentation with graphics paid for with tax dollars! Where is the outrage?  Where is the call for his resignation?  Just sayin. . .

9/30: Success No Matter What

John Stossel: This Friday, September’s job-loss total will be announced. Whatever the numbers, administration officials surely will tell us that life is better — because of them. “We brought the global economy back from the brink,” President Obama said at the close of the G-20 meeting last week. “(B)ecause of the bold and coordinated action that we took, millions of jobs have been saved or created; the decline in output has been stopped; financial markets have come back to life.”

This has been the president’s theme: His so-called stimulus package, bailouts for politically connected banks and industries, ludicrously wasteful programs like Cash for Clunkers, etc. have saved America from the greatest disaster since the Great Depression.

But this theme runs up against some rather unfortunate facts.

9/30: Has Liberal Moment Come and Gone?

Byron York: A new Gallup poll shows a sharp increase in the number of people who say they want the government to promote “traditional values.”

Gallup’s question was simple: “Some people think the government should promote traditional values in our society. Others think the government should not favor any particular set of values. Which comes closer to your own view?” In the new poll, taken in the first days of September, 53 percent of respondents say they want the government to promote traditional values, while 42 percent say they do not want the government to favor any particular set of values. Five percent do not have an opinion.

9/30: Defunding ACORN Faces Surprise Hurdles

Congress is rushing to defund the controversial group ACORN, but its efforts might have unintended consequences: Some argue that one version of the effort violates the Constitution, while a growing chorus says a second measure is so broad that it could block major contractors such as the Boeing Co. from getting government jobs.

The Senate has twice adopted amendments cutting off funding for the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. The House has separately passed the “Defund ACORN Act,” which goes beyond ACORN to prohibit funding for any organization that has filed fraudulent paperwork with the government or violated campaign finance laws.

9/30: High Court to Consider Issue of Church-State Separation

It would be easy to miss among the yucca and Joshua trees of this vast place — a small plywood box, set back from a gentle curve in a lonesome desert road. It looks like nothing so much as a miniature billboard without a message.

But inside the box is a 6 1/2 -foot white cross, built to honor the war dead of World War I. And because its perch on a prominent outcropping of rock is on federal land, it has been judged to be an unconstitutional display of government favoritism of one religion over another.

9/30: Who Will Speak for Mothers?

Nancy from Jacksonville, Florida, a mother of three, in response to a MommyLife.net request for input on Glenn Beck:

“I watch and love Glenn Beck because he’s honest. Because he doesn’t act like some pompous ass. Because he can put into words all the things I’m thinking but don’t know how to say. He can ask all the questions I am asking, but don’t know exactly how to ask. He’s had a hard life, he’s made some bad decisions … he’s normal … he’s not afraid to admit it when he’s wrong. I also like him because he’s funny. He knows how and when to be sarcastic to get a point across.”

9/29: Harder to Believe Your Eyes, Ears

Beck: The way America sees itself and the world is changing and it worries me because we used to have a common vision. But now that vision is split and what I believe is the prevailing vision, has been relegated in the mass media to the fringe. Things like: Belief in God over government; parents’ rights over children’s rights; the honor of military over the honor of the politician; being willing to do the hard thing now and have less so that our children can have a chance at having more.

I know you feel like I do — we would all absolutely learn to do with less, sew our own cloths, can food, take the bus to work if need to so that our kids can have the freedom to succeed that this country has always offered.

But now we’re getting to a place where we can’t even believe our eyes or ears.

9/29: Fund-Raiser Hsu Sentenced to 24 Years on Campaign-Finance Violations

A federal judge sentenced former Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu to more than 24 years in prison for violating campaign-finance laws.
Mr. Hsu was sentenced Tuesday at a federal court in Manhattan.
His donations became an embarrassment for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign. His arrest led Ms. Clinton to return more than $800,000 to donors linked to Mr. Hsu.

9/29: Kennedy Warns Health Care Debate Could Turn Violent

U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy fears that super charged passions fueling the national health-care debate may lead to violence.
Drawing on his family’s violent past, the Democratic congressman told roughly 75 people gathered at a private health-care forum Saturday morning that opponents of Democrat-backed health-care legislation had gone too far. He cited, as an example, 10,000 signs distributed at a recent Washington protest that read, “Bury ObamaCare with Kennedy.”
