Look at the ones who DROVE FANNIE MAE down,,,,they are Obamas hand picked losers,,,,not only did they get to RIP off millions in the fannie mac,,they now got evcen better money to loot, and pay off bribes for those who got Obama and them in office,,,,yes,,,really ask the Acorn 8 who in the top of Obamas Adminstration used to visit the ACORN headquaters,,,and the scum that ran it,built it,,,
I have a high rate (9%) and I tried to refinance. They will not let me they say I don't make enough $, although I'm current on my mortage- another reason they will not help. And my house isn't "worth" any money. It was such a crap waste of my time. I felt so angry after this.
I was always told when anyone gives you anything, there's tons of strings attached. Not one time in my life, have I ever had anyone do me a "favor", that didn't expect a 10 fold repayment. Sorry, that's not 100% true. I lived in Nebraska, and I had a few "secret Santas" than did good deeds, that were priceless, and I really don't know who to thank for doing them. A driveway plowed during a snow storm….a box of food when I least expected it. They literally saved my life and I don't even know who to thank. My Dad….used to give me money when I went on a date, and insisted no boy ever pay for anything for me, so he could never say I OWED him anything.
Visiting 912 and you learn something too!
Right! That's what I do for fun. I've always said if you're not careful, you'll learn something new every day!
If you do learn something new everyday, then the day is not wasted.
Bills, food, fun (lack of lately)
I did see a video of Gibbs getting grilled by the press corp over the staged meeting. I think the press is starting to fall out of love with Thief in Chief, since now he is trying to control them. I can't stand Helen Thomas, but that was pretty funny.
The failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac caused the bank collapse last year and they want to try it all again?
With 200+ federal regulators, including the corrupt Barney Frank, are they going to blame Bush when they fail?
Why don't they just give these lazy ass-oles a house next to the white house. Oh wait, they already did.
Well apparently Obama and his commu-ist cabal were not pleased that the economy survived the last "let us finance you in a house you cannot afford" fiasco. They will try again. Maybe this time it will have the desired affect (complete destruction of the dollar and our economy).
Maybe we're supposed to be patient regarding the housing situation. I just can't decide. Earlier today, Obama said that he had stabilized the economy and that his next task would be to stabilize the housing market. Following his remarks on the economy, the DJI, which had spent much of the day down about 170, dropped another 40 or so. Do you think it might be the smart guys selling out stocks so they can invest in real estate? I wish I was smarter, so I'd know what to do with all these opportunities the Obama administration is providing to us.
ok. So when it don't work can we throw 'ol Barny in jail with Madoff?
I may not have a dog in this fight, I don't have a mortage, but I see my tax money going to bail out those that bought homes they knew they couldn't afford, and damn well knew it, but they were a certain race so the government says okay allows it to gain more control. Now, I am paying for a car (which I could afford), I am paying a fairly high interest rate, my credit isn't that good, I accept that, but I also read the contract and if I saw that it was an adjustable rate, I would have left so fast that they wouldn't have known I was there. Now, I have had times when things got hard, and I found that calling my lender, explaining the problem, they worked with me, I'm sure most lenders are like this. I did not going calling the government crying that I was taken advantage, or expected to have the government make my payments. I cut somewhere else, and got caught up. But then again, I'm responisble for my own actions, and don't blame everyone else.
I suppose for most of my thinking, I was born about a century too late. I have always hated debt, but did have debt at times. I was and still am considered somewhat of an oddball in that regard. My credit may well be in the toilet, but I don't really care and have never checked. Is it me,or are the vast majority of the folks who take personal responsibility, conservatives? Sure looks like it.
Well, I don't carry credit cards, The only major debt I have is my car, and i need that for work.
Right now, I am hanging on by a thread just to keep what I already own. I own everything I have, I have 0 debt, and am fighting like crazy just to keep it because of taxes and simply trying to keep up with regular living responsibilities. Food, utilities, taxes, insurance and regular up-keep. I get hit every year right at this time with property taxes, insurance and all the rest. It costs more to keep what I own than if I was just renting. I just had a water line break on my property. NO fault of my own….normal settlement……3000 bucks. How many of you have that as pocket change? I have expenses this year, for a daughter graduating from high school, one in college, birthdays, etc. Nothing new or different or special……but damn….3,000 bucks?
I pray that everything works out for, and just think there are many more Americans going thru the same thing, while our fearless leaders attend parties, fly around the world on junkets, and when they get back, they'll pass more laws making things more expensive, yet there are certan groups that just hold out there hands and say,\”More please government\” and they get it, while we pay more taxes.
Fannie, Freddie and Uncle Sam don't want to help the responsible homeowners that are current with their payments or have equity built up? Oh…. how stupid of me I forgot were the ones paying for everyone else.
Home prices nationwide have fallen 18% year-to-year and this is only the beginning. There will be another bubble burst when the next group of ARM's come due. Then, the last straw will be when people go to sell and find they have to upgrade the "green-ness" of their homes to the tune of thousands of dollars before they can sell if "Crap-and-Tax" passes the Senate. It'll be a "new day in Amerika"!
This is great. We have been trying to re-fi since January, We have been blown off by no less than 5 mortgage companies, and the rest have quoted asinine closing costs or points because we have excellent credit, low D 2 E and pay our bills. If we were P.O.S. we could qual for a 105% loan . Thanks Barney.
Obama Failed Economy Policy: Obama has supported efforts to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund with the cooperation of Barney Frank and other Socialists in Congress via artificially lowering interest rates on government sponsored housing.
Freddie and Fannie were two of the causes of the recession by encouraging disastrous lending practices and have caused the loss of millions of homes via foreclosures. Dodd, Frank, and others have taken sweetheart mortgages from Countrywide and others buying their support and devastating neighborhoods all over the U.S.
And as usual Socialists are repeating history…
Obama Economy Policy Increase the Supply of Affordable Housing
Supports Affordable Housing Trust Fund: Obama has supported efforts to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund to develop affordable housing in mixed-income neighborhoods.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like we've past the tipping point and the momentum has shifted? I think a teacher or coach once told me that insanity is repeating a process and expecting different results. Well here we go again, God help us All.
Obviously the aim in all of this is to totally demoralize and make destitute , millions, so that Obama can "prove" to the world he has power, then he can become the "WORLD's Leader".There is no evidence of anything else. He is repeating history, but is taking it to a further level, to gain complete and total control. In his world, he is ABSOLUTE.
Obama – the "reader" of the free world.
Most of the people who qualify for this are the people who cannot afford the home in the first place. I wish everyone who can afford their home and just want a lower mortgage rate luck. Be careful though as I'v heard that F&F are issueing 30year mortgages so you will have to pay these additional years and that will cost you more in the long run
wow … did they ever get this one wrong again. There is no need for a refinannce to accomplish the goal of what they are doing. All theyu need is a Modification act to loosen up restrictions of how FANNIE MAE and FREDDIE MAC structure and modify exisiting hom loan models. There's barely any need for an originator, much less a new mortgage, and a limited closing. The rate is all they need to work with.
I also have to say that when i wanted to work with my mortgage, and i do have a fannie mae loan, that the ONLY thing that kept me from getting a modification was that i was current on the mortgage and actually paid my bills. i was out of work ….. but was burning up my life's savings (and i do mena savings, since my 401 had bottomed like a rock )
I work with mortgages for a living and in risk management. We work with people to modify existing loans. It's easy, it's clean, and it gives a benefit …. this thing they are doing is a joke that mirrors making the same mistakes that got the house market where it is. THese people are impractical fools playign with money they have no idea how to use or how economics work in reality
These people still cannot afford thier mortgages. Why does the government keep trying to put a band aid on the problem?
Because it makes ACORN happy. It moves the debt around and overburdens the system. It allows the cancer to spread throughout the entire body instead of being cut out in one place.
They want to bring down the entire capitalistic system (what's left of it).
Never let a good crisis go to waste! Rahm Emmanuel
IT'S ALL ABOUT CONTROL. If you have read history, you will see that this administration and the country's predicament are almost identical to the Fascist government in Germany in the 1930's.
It is a calculated effort to overthrow capitalism and install a fascist government controlled economy by Obama and his band of henchmen.
OldMarine has written pretty extensively on this site on that very subject. I sensed the chilling similarity the first time I heard BH0 speak, at the '04 Dem Convention. The rest seems to be history – repeating itself.
Liberal reply – So they should let them be homeless?
Conservative reply – Unfortunately, yes. If the person cannot make their payments and cannot borrow from private industy or family/friends/churches/charities, it really isn't the government's job to step in. It just isn't.
Having the Federal Government step in is really just forcing ME to step in. I don't appreciate that. I have 13 siblings, 2 sets of parents, 3 sets of living grandparents, and hundreds of aunts and uncles and cousins between my wife's side of the family and mine (not to mention the friends who are as close as family). They can come to me for the little help I can provide if needed. That's already enough responsibility – it I don't have to be forced!
Yes, our wonderful condos for the poor have turned into the projects of the future.
Fannie and Freddie can go suck Barney Franks you know what.
Ooooh, that's not a pretty mental picture!
Thanks for the mental saltpeter SDM…ya gave me a case of the skeeves!
He'd just consider it another "perk".
The Obama program applies to mortgages that meet Washington-based Fannie Mae and McLean, Virginia-based Freddie Mac’s conforming loan limits. That cap is $417,000 for some areas and as high as $729,750 for the 250 most expensive real estate markets.
You gotta be sh**ting me!!! $729,750 to bail some ahole out??? Holy cow. where are we going?
There was an incident the other night, (already on the local news), where an elderly couple where struck by a train. They where walking hand and hand. He was a Baptist minister. They made no move to leave the tracks. Both where killed. I know times are tough and things are looking real bad, but going out this way was simply not the answer. I am saddened deeply, and I wonder just how pervasive this form of depression has gone. When people are against the wall, they will take drastic measures to stop the pain. I've a feeling this, along with the man that went into the Holocaust museum, and the Muslim that killed the Private, are just the beginnings of a much more tragic ending for this nation. These are symptoms of a larger problem, yet when we write, call, email and protest, those problems are not addressed, and in fact they even get worse. People, be prepared for anything, because anything can happen.
Depression is a bad thing to deal with, it can take a person places (in their mind) that they would not normally go. It can cause a person to act in a manner, they would otherwise not act. Even on meds, it does not completely remove the symptoms. If a person has a family support system, it's easier to deal with. Recognizing the symptoms and reacting to them is the best way to deal. Left untreated, it can result in the tragedy in this news article. May God be with their extended family. I'm afraid if our country continues to slide into an abyss, things like this will be more common.
If you mean "as a Nation", I think "hand basket" is in the phrase somewhere??? *~*
Some background info: my husband was stationed in the DC area for nearly 13 years. We finally got around to buying a basic middle-of-the-road house in the northern Virginia suburbs in 1998. At the time houses in our neighborhood were selling for $230,000 to $265,000. By the time we left in 2003 the top selling house in the neighborhood that year sold for $750,000 which translated to a nearly $500,000 increase in price in just over 8 years. We ended up renting our house out because the bottom fell out of the market the month before we were due to leave. Absolutely nothing was selling, and the market has not yet recovered. A lot of people in metro DC have since seen a drop in value of $250,000-$300,000. The DC market is highly transient due to numerous military installations and State Dept. employees rotating between overseas assignments so there are lots of folks who got stuck between a rock and a hard place and bought in the belief that prices would keep rising. For almost all of the 1990's the DC metro market was dead then it took off in approx 1996 and there was a huge demand and very few houses for sale because of a sudden large increase in the population so prices skyrocketed. As I mentioned, a lot of people transiting into the area between about 2002 – 2006 have seen unbelievable drops in market value. Though the prices are still very high, many of these homeowners are regular middle-income people, not fat-cat rich people. Other places other across the country like San Francisco have been hit hard as well.
Not just some ahole….some rich ahole.. It looks like Obama and the dems in congress are having to payback some really expensive people…
Go! Stop! Go! Stop! Give money away to people for mortgages that are unqualified! No, now claim to the public that Democrats always wanted more regulation and that it was those evil shifty Republicans who caused this crises and them alone! Now, no one is watching – tell the banks to start making silly loans again and do a cover up as always! Get Barney Frank to mumble and lisp something about Bush being awful since that sells so well with the brainless! Well. What can I say? This might work on some, but I think many of us would say – hey wait. It is very clear that this current government is ammoral – which means they dont really care what is right or wrong, just cooking the books and using words and smiles to tell everyone how great and blameless they are. Ammoral is a good word for them. I honestly beleive that most of the politicians leading us today have zero concern about the real right or wrong in things – not only for morals, but finance also – as long as they get elected.
Here we go again. Will they never learn.
They've learned that they can create a problem, blame someone else, and make a power-grab to "solve" the problem while making it worse.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
LOL – good comment, Morgue.
I really believe that we need to get the Ivy School educated people out of Washington DC and replace them with farmers and small town people that have a shred of common sense left. It seems we have populated our government with politician after politician that are Ivy League educated and seem like they keep trying to outsmart our problems instead of going back to simple, time tested solutions. (Ivy League alumni with common sense, please exempt yourself from this comment as I know its not all of you that are the issue)
We need to get Politicians out of DC. We have been convinced by the parties that it takes someone with EXPERIENCE to be a legislator. It was never meant to be that way. The only qualification our founders required was Age, Citizenship, and not a Criminal. Nothing about a lawyer or former public office. We need to eliminate the term politician. There should be no one retiring as a politician. There should be no one receiving retirement from being a congressman.

Obama is one nut job. He is backing some homeowner that could not afford the house he bought, because he bought a house much larger than he afford in the first place, and Fannie mae, and Freddy mac, and our congressional finance committees headed by Rep. Barney Frank, and Senate Chris Dodd, that did such a wonderful job lending money to just about anyone regardless if he had a job, or the money to pay for it.
Sounds just like something Obama would do. They're going to go right back to doing financing the WRONG way! When Obama speaks, he's lying! Frank and Dodd should be jailed and prosecuted for their illegal ventures.
THOSE WHO FAIL TO LEARN HISTORY ARE DESTINED TO REPEAT IT…….if we repeat this..we are history and are destined to fail.
If you thought the first housing bust was tough wait untill this new one that Obama and co are creating goes pop. Anyone who is upside down in their home will be worse off because it'll force the market to bottom lower than it would have if they'd done nothing.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Let me get this straight….Fannie and Freddie are going to give out the high risk loans again….and this time they're expecting a different result? WTF? These people really ARE insane. They're doing the EXACT same thing that got us into this financial mess in the first place. It's the same damned thing. What is wrong with these people?
They weren't held accountable for the first housing crash (it was Wall-Street's fault I'm told), so now they can start the process ALL over again, cause another crash, and use the "crisis" to make another power grab and nationalize a few more industries.
I thought it was Bush's fault! At least that's what the regime has been telling me, now you say its Wall street? Gee who am I to believe? Maybe, just maybe, it's because Freddie and Fannie as well as Dems force banks to make loans to people who were not qualified. No, it was Bush's fault.
They're not worried, they figure we'll bail them out again and again and again. Well… until China cut us off that is.
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."…..Albert Einstein
No more needs to be said.
How kind of Fannie and Freddie if your upside down on your home, they will make sure you stay that way!
To anyone facing the loss your home due to job loss or legitimate reasons my best wishes for finding a remedy to help, this just is not a good way to do that.
The housing market did start the economic collapse and the Government has not fixed it, nor are they able too. Matter of fact they created the problem with their you must loan to a certain percentage of people even if they cannot afford it!
No the poor governement regulations for low interset loans with nothing down and no way in hell to make your payments stated the economic collapse
Donn Cooper, agree, as stated in my post they created the problem, by demanding a certain percentage of all loans even if the buyer was not qualified must be made even if they could not meet the requirements for repayment. I just worded it poorly, I guess.
This crap frosts me! I don't have a mortgage because my husband and I worked hard, lived within our means, and paid off a 15 yr loan in 5 yrs. I really resent my tax dollars helping out those who made unwise decisions. And I am not heartless about other's circumstances. I want the choice on who to help, like my tenant, whose rent I lowered 25% to help them thru the tough times.
You are a good person Jerseygal, May God continue to bless you and your family.
Thank you, and you also.
There's no longer any incentive to pay your bills and try to keep up with your debts. The world under Obama is upside down and inside out. The good get punished and the bad get rewarded.
Right on there, DMN. It used to be that when we grew up, if our parents did not instill responsibility, life sure did. Not any more. It is always someone else's fault, and the gov't will help. Personal responsibility is now a rarity.
Only if you have been put upon by the mean white capitalist, but if you have worked hard, struggled to make ends meet, paid your bills and taxes, then don't look for help, of course you wouldn't anyway. But if you have a low end job, with no education (because whites have better schools) or were raised by a single parent on welfare, and were given a loan because of your race, that you knew you couldn't repay, then help is on the way from Freddie and Fannie, that will be paid for by the hard working mean white taxpayers who is responsibile for all your "problems". Do I have it straight?
jerseygal; i did the same — bought a house i knew i could afford to pay for and paid off the 15 year mortgage in 7 years. My goal was to not have to worry about mortgage payments JUST IN CASE! Well Im sure glad I had the forethought to guard against unknown possibilities — which have now befallen us all.
What i dont understand is — what the hell's the difference if your house value has gone down unless youre trying to sell? If the idiot buyer thought his house was worth what he paid when he bought it now he's crying cause values have dropped? Waaaaaa, I paid too much — help me Uncle Sam!
well my car is worth less now then when i bought it — do i get a rebate?
So here's what will happen. these sob's will get new mortgages for LESS then what they originally paid, in time, housing prices will rise again and all these jerks will have mortgages that are MUCH LESS then the value .
And is it not interesting that in todays climate if you are responsible, rational and expect the same from others you are "heartless" and "uncaring" about those less fortunate than you. As if any of those things happened by luck.
Sometimes I feel like I am living in Atlas Shrugged.
Thank you – I know the feeling. I am sick of hearing someone is losing their home because of George Bush! As if it were all not fault of theirs.
Only problem is that "The One " lied we're not helping them that won't help themselves we're just lining the pockets of those in Govnmt.
The help the gov't is giving those who will not help themselves will be come more evident around election time.
Sounds like a fellow Dave Ramsey convert. Good on you JerseyGal! Debt *is* dumb! The gubbamint telling you to get more debt is insanity!
I am a Dave Ramsay fan, but his baby steps and general philosophy are essentially what I grew up with. And I soooo admire his way with words!
My house is paid for also, but when the gov. wanted to give the Idiots money to help pay their mortgages, I told my congressman that I wanted my share for being sane and actually paying for a house I could afford. I still haven't heard from him on this issue.
Notice how politicians only accept tongue-in-cheek when when they employ it on the campaign trail? Good comment!
Some time ago, Obama stated that all Americans could refinance their existing mortgages at a low 4.5% interest rate. At the time, I was current on my mortgage (at 6.5%), but laid off. I didn't want a "bailout", just a lower interest rate, after all, you should trust the president, right??
I didn't qualify….Why?
1. My mortgage was not owned by Freddie or Fannie.
2. I was current on my existing mortgage, YES, because I was CURRENT!!!
Seemed not to matter I was unemployed at the time, though (the above 2 reasons were the only ones stated).
It was just one more lie this pathetic excuse for a president told all Americans, but actually, it was for a select few.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB. LET ME GUESS CITI MORTGAGE?
I'm in the same boat–unemployed & current on mortgage. I didn't qualify and the reasons state were the same. They will lower the interest rate on a 400K+ mortgage but not one well under that amount.
You did not qualify because you are an honest hardworking taxpaying citizen. You have shown you take responsibility and accountability for yourself and your obligations. and actions.
Yes, that is the way it is with Obama. Freddie and Fannie worked mostly on poor people, not the middle class. And Saul Alinsky I believe wrote that one must kill the middle class who has the money and give it to the poor. But check a little closer, there may be an exception on the mortagage form if you are with Acorn or GE. You might still have time to join the Obama Socialist Party team and get the real aid.
That's ok, no "membership" for me, I'll cling to my God and guns (I'm from PA.) and I believe in the constitution.
By wanting to SPREAD the wealth, this administration which claims it wants greater "equality" for all, has created "loopholes" and played favorites. They are KILLING the hardworking, honest American taxpayer, and they'll eventually wind up destroying the entire country. Hopefully they'll be out come election day, and we can restore integrity and justice once again.
Once it's restored, we have to continue and chase these socialist back in the closet or out of this country.
Let's dig the pit deeper. More "crisis" management not to going to waste. Rahm Emmanuel must be in hog's heaven.
I guess we havent been buried deep enough yet, we can still breath after all. Cant have that.
Watch how they'll blame Wall-Street and Bush again when this collapses … watch.
Let's dig the pit deeper. More "crisis" management not to going to waste. Rahn Emmanuel must be in hog's heaven.
SHEESH! Some people will never learn. The housing debacle was caused by federal government intervention. More intervention isn't going to help anyone.
gsteinbacher, above, is a good example of those people who have been effected by the down turn in the housing market but still working hard, making those mortgage payments on time and probably making some real sacrifices along the way! In time, left alone, the market will likely correct itself and folks like gsteinbacher, will be better for their willingness to work and sacrifice. The federal government cannot make anything pay off positively.
It just does not happen. SHEESH! Some Americans are so foolish, a term I don't like to use.
Thats the true American way. No positive gain comes without hard work and sacrifice. I am relying on this country to regain its values and get back to normal so I am not wasting my time. I know it will happen people will finally wake up and smell the stench in washington
I think the market is trying to correct itself in spite of BH0, not because of him. Good point – less gov't interference in market forces will lead to a faster and solid recovery.
Obama was banking on a recovery to prop up his agenda but was to ignorant to realize that his policies would prolong and deepen the recession. now they have no idea what to do because revenue is falling sharply and even some on the left are wondering how to pay for all of theis trash.
The economy is cyclical. Always had been. If things are not run well they fail, let them. Car companies make their own mess. unions want a hand out and pay backs and so far they pretty much got what they asked the puppet for. It's disgusting.
Obama's socialist centralized planning will only EXACERBATE the situation, which is his intent. Remeber never let a good "crisis" go to waste. The free market, if allowed will correct this situation albiet with pain. The pain of centralized planning though will be akin to amputating a leg because of an ingrown toenail.
At least we know Obama is consistent….he consistently works towards bankrupting the US.
Now if we could only amputate the head of the government!
Still won't help me I'm at about 130% upside down. But I still have a job and am still paying on time got to be thankful for that.
Thank you God
Hang in there – hope it works out for you. I've found that separating needs from wants is important, and really comes in handy during the tough times.
Thanks… We'll make it some how we always do. Just won't be able to sell for a while until the market recovers. I would like to move to a better school district before my six year old is out of grade school.
Don't wait too long or you'll come under Cap&Trade and will have to meet efficiency standards before you can sell.
Explore loan audits and of course you can try a loan modification. You DO NOT have to be behind to get a loan modification believe me I work with attorneys that do them all the time. Auditing is much less expensive and is done by an attorney as well. When dealing with these lenders a reputable attorney is what you need. Audits will find mistakes in your note which gives you much more power with the lender to reduce rates and principal and make other changes. If you want more info you can go to my website and contact me Dave through the phone number listed and I can pass info along to you or search it out on your own. Good Luck and hang in there!!!

He believes in Kaynesian economics, and besides, who cannot figure out that rising unemployment means less tax dollars flowing to the gov't? Low sales #s mean the same thing. He's taxing anything that moves and a whole lot of stuff that doesn't, to try and pay for his idiot ideas.
You're welcome. Keep the faith, and a door will open for you.
How about Homeschooling?
God bless you and your family (and all of us, for that matter!)
With Ya'!
I am a bitter clinger too! Formerly from PA. Good luck unseating Specter!
I am a bitter clinger too! Formerly from PA. Good luck unseating Specter! And Casey!
Ah yes, buying votes!!! "keep us in office and we'll take care of you" "we're the only ones that really care about you."!!! It will be like cocaine, they'll think they can't live without them! "dependency" It will be real ugly!!
The Dems will just remind the 'helpless' that Dems are the reason they eat, have a roof over their heads, medical care, and a monthly check for not working.
Yes – except that somewhere in there isn't it George Bush's fault?
Oh yes, I forgot about that, sorry, thanks for reminding me.
Oh, no problem! We wouldn't want anyone to miss a chance to blame Bush, now, would we?
Most folks have a car pmt. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with any of it as long as, like you said, you're responsible. That's what matters. Like I said, I'm just kinda odd that way.
I try to stay out of debt as much as possible
Me, too. I think that is generally a pretty good plan.
Its work for many years. My mother taught me that if you have to make payments on anything, remember never have your bills be halfer then 1/2 of your take home pay. I do it that today, I have bills I pay on the 15th, and other bills I pay on the 30th
Same advice I grew up with. All budgeting was based on 'take-home,' the real figure. And to buy some gadget or furniture before paying the light bill? Never!
Sounds just like the words of wisdom I heard growing up!
I can not remember if I heard it or it was something I just said one day, and it stuck with, but it is good advice.
It's often a measure of character when the 'good stuff' sticks.
If it is a \”quotable\” saying, then I'm sure someone will let me know. As a \”professional\”, I believe in crediting people that I borrow ideas or statements from.
You are much better at remembering/finding the 'who' than I am! In my case it is usually someone famous whose name I have forgotten!
Alot of times a good memory and research skills to make sure I get it right.
I am used to researching in books, libraries, and newspaper morgues! The internet has got to be so much quicker!
I use all the above, and I'm good at it. The net makes it quicker and easier with the right search engine.
I can see that!
