Democrats lose wars they do not win wars .Afganistan is another vietnam. Iraq will turn out like vietnam the democrats are doing the same as vietnam pulling troops out on the brink of victory.Next will be cutting off the funding and then iran will move in it will be all within 4 years from now .
Wars are the most horrific experience a person can be in. We all are scared that every minute could be our last. The loss of lives can never be justified or forgotten. While the hand wringers, the power seekers, the politicions, the news people play their games of point and blame our Marines are dying . And none of this people care. Let our military perform their missions as they are trained to do. Seek out the enemy and destroy them. Stop costing lives by playing damn games. All we have is each other as was the case 233 years ago. Do not let our fallen comrades sacrafices be for not. We are the ones who need to change from the tail waging the dog to making elected officials accountable to us. We are Semper Fi what are they.
I hope a lot of the Taliban get to meet Allah when the marines get done with their mission

You know, at the time it really p***ed me off but as the years went by I realized those that treated us like sh** just didn't warrant the energy to be mad anymore. I'm glad out troops are getting the respect that they deserve. I know not by everybody but by most. I was in a restaurant the other day and a couple Marines were in there eating lunch. I told the waitress to give me their check and tell them a old Marine said thanks. I gave them a thumbs up as I paid at the register, one of the damn kids stood up and popped a salute. I almost had to run out the door so they wouldn't see my eyes watering. God I'm so proud of them, all of them. Doesn't matter what branch, there all HERO'S.
Marines are Marines, whether they are WW 2, Korea, Nam, Gulf War 1, Iraq or the War on Terror, they are no different in training, pride and most important Espirit de Corps. They will carry on in the best tradition of the United States Marine Corps and its 237 years of tradition (unhampered by progress-LOL). Remember the Corps has done so much with so little for so long, that now they can do so much with nothing.

The Marines can handle the situation if they are left to do what all of us Marines were trained to do. ENGAGE AND DESTROY. I learned that in Viet Nam and these have learned it now. They know what to do. My worry is about what Rules of Engagement are they having to operate under. This military hating administration will I'm afraid hamstring our guy's to the point that we will lose good men and women because BO's people will want to control the action from the White House like L.B.J. did in Viet Nam. There were times that you could wait hours or even days for conformation for a air strike. Those of you out there that were there know this to be the truth. Already there is the big discussion about collateral damage. You always are concerned about collateral damage, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Shit happens and war sucks, that's just the way it is. If i have to choose between the man on my left or right, or someone who may or may not be the enemy it's a easy call. I had good friends killed because a non-combatant pulled a piece and got off a quick shot. Let me tell you something, that only happens once. I just got a bad feeling that our guys are going to get the stinky end of the stick with this group of misfits, I hope I'm wrong on this but these people hate our military. Watch out for the charges of murder and mistreatment of prisoners. Personally I still believe in the ole saying " KILL EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT " Sorry, but it get real personal when it comes to my fellow Marines.

I'm a construction superintendent and I build multimillion dollar projects and I used to think I was pretty on the ball but trying to figure out this IntenseDebate registering and crap has made me eat a large helping of humble pie. I'll figure it out but it will take a little time, any help would make it less painfull.

From where I stand this war is like gang interdiction in the cities. God bless the United States Marines as they venture further into harm's way. As I understand it, they are moving into an area in southern Afghanistan to finally clean up what the NATO troops couldn't get done.

I don't think so, China sees the same news we do, and the military has shown news clips of the tests, of course, they are not going to show all of the \”goodies\”. Of course, if N. Korea does launch, which I doubt, we may not know about for hours,because it might interfer with the coverage of Micheal Jackson, which by the way is still dead and memorial service at the Staple Center). Prime example, Fox & Friends this morning (0600), the lead in tease was N. Korea may have launched 2 short/med range missiles. 10 minutes later, the story, guess what the 10 minutes was about……who else Micheal Jackson. Now, to me, N. Korea launching a missel is more important then some drug caused death of pediophile, who wanted to be white.

I'm inclined to think that, where the Marine Corps is concerned, you have a good command of the facts and the substance of the issue. I'd like to see the National Guard throw Obama and Congress out of office; a real military coup, that's how Zelaya in Honduras got to leave the country only the military coup wasn't a true one; the power was restored to the government. In this case, not sure who would get to take over if all of these jokers were ousted. (just wishful thinking here).
I only hope and pray they have an objective. I truly appreciate the courage of these young men. I do not wish to see pictures of coffins and a counting of the causalities as a pay back to the Bush era. But death and casualties are a fact of life. I too adamantly oppose that my children serve in the military that is guided by Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

Did our Commander in Chief formally announce this “offensive?” Perhaps it’s simply the style of some presidents.. and not others .. to explain to the American people the efforts that are being made to win the war/offensive? I can't bear the thought that Obama has any kind of "military strategy" to begin with, I certainly hope "his" strategy is actually 100 percent the strategy of the real military (not Pelosi and co.) and that for once he just shuts up and does what THEY tell him to.
The problem I see with BO is he's calling this an offensive. Look up the definition of offensive. This is no game or contest here. It should be called a war with an objective. Where is the objective in this offensive? The Democrats complained about Iran, but it was called a war and it had an objective, and now they want to rage an offensive in Afghan. This sounds like LBJ. How many of you have sons and daughters who may be affected by a newly instituted draft? Afghanistan was Russia's Vietnam. I am a Vietnam Veteran and despise how the Democrats under Pelosi and Reid were quick to throw American Soldiers and Marines under the bus when it was politically expedient. I have two sons who are draft age, and adamantly oppose them serving in the military as long as the Pelosi-Reid-Obama cabal are the civilian authority overseeing the Nation's military. How else will Obama be able to undertake a two or three front war unless he has the draft re-instituted?

The Guard and Reserves are strained to the limit, and are burned out from 8 years of continuous overseas deployment. I believe enlistments are suffering in these units, as several overseas deployments can occur in an 8 year obligation. What alternative does Obama have when facing an escalation in Afghanistan that may lead into Pakistan. Remember, these lands have defeated foreigners since the time of Alexander the Great.
It is my contention that the Guard and Reserves are for homeland and domestic defense. A regular active duty force should be used for overseas deployments. Could the volunteer military fill expanded slots? Are there enough volunteers to staff an expanded regular military? Who would be willing to serve the likes of the Obama regime as a volunteer? Hence, a draft would be required to staff Obama's overseas adventurism in Southwest Asia and any other brushfire events he generates as unintended consequences.
I was an Artillery officer with the Army from 1967-1970 with overseas duty in Germany and Vietnam. My FO call sign was:

Semper FI!! The Talaban better watch out if we have sent the marines with the choppers. It reminds me of the stragety in Nam. That was also was horrible terrain. I have my doubts about winning here. This country has no economy. Iraq has oil and an economy. People need jobs to suceed. The Poppy is their only crop. I don't think this government has the stomach for this war. I say that because they are cutting the defense budget. We will need lots of money to not only fight the war but also to build a stable economy. I know our troops will do well but I doubt we will be able to save Afgan.

Not to pick nixes, but when a Marine unit moves into combat, through the GRUNTS do the heavy lifting there is a massive amount of air support, not only the Marine Air, but Navy as well. I know, I was part of Marine Air, and when the Grunts move, you fly.
Thank you for speaking of Naval support. Serving in a Naval Amphibious fleet we were there to at least level the beaches and give any other support we could to help the Marines make it ashore as safely as possible. I served along side many Marines during my time in the service. I respect ALL military services, Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force.

This plan does at least on the surface sound pretty good. I therefore assume actual members of the military developed it. I only hope not too much of Obamas political ambitions got worked into the details. After all that is where the Devil hangs out.

Let's all start wringing our hands and taking pics of the coffins and counting the COSTS of this action. That is what we got in the past 7 years non-stop. Our military does a great job (frankly, I'd rather be with the Marines in Afghanastan than sitting in the desert in Iraq right now), waiting for the next RPG aimed at an American Camp, waiting to 'shut off the lights.'
But of course, that was the BAD WAR and Afghanistan was the GOOD WAR. I got news, folks. We are fighting the same enemy in both places. Too bad Obama and the DEMS couldn't figure that one out.
The difference now is, we won't hear about it,there won't be a daily body count like there was under Bush,the cameras and the media won't be there.
We already aren't seeing the daily count. My state has lost 4 in the last few weeks, 3 who were lost in one bombing and other than local coverage I don't recall seeing any mention of the deaths. I could be wrong on this but think not.
The media was wrong for their objective during the Bush era and wrong for their objective in the BO era. I can handle the truth but I fear their not fighting a war nor have we defined the enemy. There is an enemy in a war, a war has a cost, soldiers and innocent civilians die.

will this be the time for our men and women to return home, not disgraced but honored for being defenders of our rights and liberties defined by the US Constitution? Is it perhaps, time for great soldiers to return before we all fall prey to the insurrection of progressives?

I want nothing better than have all come home, but I think they need to decide how and when, not us and not some congressman sitting in a leather chair. I really hate hypocrites. And I hate those who campaign strongly about the wrongness of war, make promises that they have no intention of keeping, and bully others into believing that sweet talk can make an enemy give up their cause. And I really hate war-profiteers like our media–so busy reporting on every glitch, every mistake, every problem that we lose focus on the fact that we are in the Middle East because THEY declared war on US, not the other way around. The progressives are easy to figure out. They never want the status quo–they are always seeking to disrupt and cause instability. Their power comes from that. They make slow, steady, straight, simple, strong, select into dirty words. Until the war is won in our own culture, we will not ever win abroad.
I have honored those who stood up against these lawless and hatefilled people on my behalf. And I will not forget about them. I have stood up for them all along and will continue to do so. When the fight is over, they will come home. And they will be welcomed by me and others like me. Those of us who know that those who stood up to those drunk with power and hate are all that stood between those in the Middle East and us. I will be forever grateful.

While Obama has made friends with socialist dictators such as Honduras, Cuba, and Venezuela he has treated our former allies like the UK and Israel in a shabby manner. I dont get what the positive change was supposed to be, I almost think, wow, like maybe we were not told the truth.

This is a step in the right direction. Obama has said, he will increase our military troops from 80,000 to 130,000 by 2011, and to take control of a larger part of Afghanistan. Our number one objective is to capture, or kill the leadership of both the Taliban, and Al Quida. Congress authorized $105 Billion for these actions until the end of 2009.
We pry for each, and every American trooper in harms way, during this conflict. They have my full support, while they put their lives on the line to defend America around the world!

Obama is taking credit for executing a plan in Afghanistan that was designed during the Bush administration. I just hope that Obama did not do to that plan what Kennedy did to Eisenhower's Bay of Pigs plan.
Eisenhower was what many call the greatest amphibious planner of all times, but a PT boat skipper thought he could do better. Kennedy took the teeth out of the Bay of Pigs plan and Castro survived but many of the people who trusted us did not. I pray that Obama has not done that, but he does have the tendency to appease Islamics.
The marines will follow orders and do the best they can regardless of who the commander-in-chief is. I just pray that no one gets stabbed in the back like the Cuban exiles who thought they would get their nation back.
The bay of pigs was a little before my time. I know that the CIA tried to recapture Cuba from the Communists by using exiles as ground forces. The US Air Force was to fly cover but reneged after the beach landings were underway. I did not know that Eisenhower had any thing to do with it. Why would Kennedy change his plan?
JFK did not want to make the communist mad. If he had followed the original plan there would never have been a Missile crises.
He has to hand this one over to the commanders on the ground. He has to focus on dismantling our health care system, confiscating tax dollars for a green agenda, shove our teetering economy off the cliff, and be on the lookout for potential czars!

I wrote Fox News last weekend to inform them of my "displeasure" with their 24/7 coverage of Jackson while the House of Representatives was passing the "Tax and Crap" bill. Not once did I hear anything about this bill Friday or over the weekend on Fox, very dissapointing. I'm not saying by any means that Jackson did not warrant any coverage by Fox, but Fox got sucked into the frenzy as did every other news agency. And BTW, Jackson is not dead, he bought a house next door to Elvis and their planning a tour together (just joking !!!).

How can a Marine forget the Navy (Our Taxis), but also our extreme heavy fire support. I've called in Naval Gunfire, and well, they do get the job done. And of course, I can never, ever forget the most important members of the Navy (No disrespect intended) , The Almost Marines, the ones that will not hesitate to help and protect the Marines, the unsung heroes of the Corps, The docs, THE NAVY CORPSMEN assigned to the Marines, God Bless them. The one thing that can never be explained to those who have never worn the uniform is how WE, can throw barbs back and forth, no one feelings gets hurt, and if a common foe approaches, a join attack by Marines, Navy, Army , Air Force and Coast Guard is there to meet them.

But if they are czarist policy wonks with no experience in foreign affairs, no experience in decision making, little experience in leadership, I pray they or he is wise enough to heed those who have the experience, are not afraid to decide, and brave to lead instead of waiting for teleprompts.

Amen! I am sure it isn't easy to fight a fight that is so constrained and restrained—just the right balance of troops and equipment.
The THEY who declared war on us have been our enemies for quite a while—Iran (since 1979), Saddam Hussein who agreed to certain conditions to remain in power and then broke those promises, and Al Qaeda whose leader, Bin Laden declared war on us (jihad) several times—1996 and prior.
If THEY are shooting in our direction, giving aide and comfort to our enemies, or even launching shoes at our heads, THEY are our enemy. And they DO have names…..some of which are no longer living anymore.
And yes, the military should be able to give indication when the job is done enough to come home, not the 'talking heads in the media' or as you say the policy wonks with no experience.
