First of all people can preach what they want…i respect that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,second we all breathe we all draw blood,,,, third we all want peace we dont wanna see another man killed…if people stop being closed minded and accept on e another for who we are people War wouldnt exist. And when people enter your country its to help them not hurt them.

When my spouse and I bought our home we had to undergo a "Piller to Post" inspection with the bank. They inspected this home from stem to stern. About 2 days later, the bank comes back again with 2 new agents who must measure every nook and cranny of the home. Thats all good as we want to know what we are buying and know of its defects and quirks. But what really bothered me was the insurance company that did their "required" interior inspection of the home (scheduled apx 1 month after moving in).One part of the inspection required that they enter my master bedroom to inspect the cabinets under the sinks in my bathroom as well as under the kitchen sink. Ok., I can see an exterior inspection, but a requirement to enter the home to enter and "inspect" private areas after the bank has already done so?

But our deductible for insurance is $500.
Where I am going with this is wondering where will government stop with their intrusiveness?
I despise the argument "If you have nothing to hide, then it shouldnt be an issue"….
My spouse of 15 years and I have a split level home and have seperate bedrooms. He doesnt even come into my room without permission, and to pretty much have an Insurance Czar forcing their way in is redicilious!

BTW…to any one who is curious, my spouse and I have been together for over 15 years but still are not married and for religious reasons we sleep in seperate quarters.
That being said, I dont let my own spouse (I say spouse b/c we have been together for so long) enter my room, let alone a stranger.

Glenn finally said it tonight. Nothing is going to change till we have a violent overthrow of this government. We don't have a vote when we are voting for the lesser of two evils. Remove everyone in power including staffers and start over. Elect a public person who has NO history in politics. Remove all Lobbies and prosecution all for the crimes against this country. Otherwise, nothing will change. I would go as far as saying, move the capital to St. Louis or
the center of the country. Washington DC is no good. A fresh start.

Well as afraid that BO is at what happened in Honduras, it is a sign he knows people here are mad as well. Wonder what he and his homeland security have planned for us on July 4th. Of course, Acorn was able to march today, wonder if they had permits.

If you all really wanna send a message to GE, call your cable/sattelite companies, and have them block CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo, USA, A&E, Oxygen, Scifi, Chiller, and Universal HD, and any othe GE related media entity.

Unfortunately, NBC, itself, cannot be blocked, because it's an OTA network.

  5. Hobbes says:

    Justfolk,

Ha, except he'd probably send the "bulb czar"…. to put your "lights" out. Ugh, that's pretty bad. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself.

It would be a real shame if a lot of marchers in DC where to drop and break about 40,000 of the new bulbs. I wonder how long it would take for the EPA to clean up a mess like that.? A real shame.

  7. aacyjemael says:

Dustyluv….FANTASTIC idea you have about marching into DC each carrying an obama bulb and "accidentally" breaking it in front of the whitehouse. Can you imagine if we could get one million people together, each wearing our "swine flu" mask dropping a total of one million of these "environmental saving" bulbs on the whitehouse lawn and then head back home? I have been doing a lot of thinking about marching into DC anyway and we need to take action soon. I am against applying for permits to visit the very home where WE are paying the bills. Why don't we show up unannounced like "thieves in the night", after all isn't that the way our president and congress has been conducting all of their business? We need to organize and do this ASAP!

  8. ruth1946 says:

Every time I shop I buy the old "non-efficient bulbs. The new ones are garbage. I think I have a 5 year supply as of now of 40,60& 75 watt's .

  9. Boopster says:

Can you imagine workers in hazmat suits to collect used light bulbs? What a farce this is.

  10. littlewolf26 says:

Well, since lightbulbs (of any kind) are not actually "earth friendly", let's all just stop using them, hence we stop buying them (gasp!), and all use kerosene! I would LOVE to see NObama read his teleprompter by lamplight! LOL

    • Katrinka says:

You forget. The laws will not apply to the House, Senate, or White House. That's the way they write these laws. What they're doing is important, you know. They *need* electricity in order to do all that important work.

Third, they are supposed to have like 15 times the lifespan. ok, that's just not true. i tried using them, it's jsut not true. they are supposed to give off more light. ok, that's not true either. brand after brand, it's just not true. Cost, they cost from 3 to 10 times as much. considerign my first tow points here …. there is no cost break, just a cost screw over.

Lastly, who makes these? not us. US workers won't do it and the process is too toxic to meet our EPA standards. HJEAR THAT!!! the product is ok … but the material in it is way past EPA standards to make cost efficiently because ONE BULB is enough for CHRONIC exposure by their standards.

  15. goldnhorde says:

so … light bulbs. light bulbs make this whole thing … OK-DOKEY-SMOKEY!!!! …. this is really a joke right?

Ok, first, they have mercury in them. we all know that.

Second, they give off UV radiation. small doses, but if EVERY LIGHT is doing it ot you ALL THE TIME … this is aas good as any global warming theory. far fetched … but i'm stickign to it. you know, i love when they try to "offset" the mercury by the emmisions off set. they are toodifferent things. one is made up and not so much a threat …. mercury, diorectly will poison our ground water when people start filling dumps with them. HOORAY!!!!

Last week our company put out an e-mail that we were going to support the Pres. initative on service in our communities this summer. Yesterday we got another e-mail about what group we will have to opportunity to help. All that said, there will be a bus leaving from our company every thursday morning and going into the projects to help kids with reading, math and social skills. All of this is worthy and many of us already do things for our communites on our own without prompting from the bozo in the Whitehouse. There was a note at the end of the e-mail calling on men from our company to show up because these kids had no real male role models in their lives. I went a little crazy when I read this e-mail because I have to question O and the boys on the Hill. Why are they not addressing the obvious? Why do they just want to keep on "giving" stuff to these types of people instead of educating the fathers of these kids to stand up and act like a man instead of a selfish pig. I thing the Pres should appoint a Father Czar and he should start educating a culture who could care less about their responsibilities.

    • Goober says:

Oh Gragar that would empower them. It doesn't help his cause… If Fathers of these kids started taking an interest in their own children… well, it might not turn out too well because maybe, just maybe, those kids would actually become productive CITIZENS instead of needy ones!

    • GerryW says:

The longer the people need to rely on the government the longer they will vote for more government. A self fulfilling prophecy of the far left. Illegals and welfare equal votes!

    • Tntsgram says:

I take it they are a$$uming that the men in the company do NOT have children of their own that need them huh? This makes me more then a little crazy, because the responsible, job-holding people are being forced to go take care of gang member's kids on the weekends. Let the men in Acorn go do that. This is unconstitutional Gragar, and discrimination.

  19. CC76 says:

It really is a point in history for this great country that if the people don't rise up, the country will be lost. The Cap n Trade bill will give the US gov. total control of our lives. It is the last nail in the coffin for this country. I live in Texas and have been contacting my congressman every hour in regards to this bill. I have been assured by his staff that he will vote no on the bill when it comes to the Senate floor. But I do not trust him because he is a politician with his own interest's coming first for him. If he does vote yes for the bill, he will be out of office because I will spend every penny I have to get him out of the office. Folks, make a decision now. No more typing words on this site. Get up, do something. No violence is needed. Phone, fax, e-mail, write, knock on their door. Whatever you feel comfortable doing but start doing it now. Some people still say that they cannot make a difference. Yes, you can. You just have to believe that and get out there and start doing it.

  20. NancyNurse says:

There is nothing wrong with aiming for better proficiency for all of us, but I question the ram speed that we are going right now. I replaced our freezer a year ago and it saved us $12 per month. Multiply that out over a few years, and the new freezer paid for itself. But we didn't throw the old freezer away. We gave it to a struggling young working family who lived far away from 'town' so that they could conserve fuel last year when it was so high.
The issue of lightbulbs is trickier. I bought the much more expensive CFL bulbs and replaced all the lights in our house with them. Not only did they cost more upfront, but they burned out twice as fast as the standard bulbs in all cases. I went back to standard bulbs when I could not measure the savings. I don't believe everything that manufacturers say about their products and I certainly don't believe our corrupt government. Everyone needs to make efficient decisions for themselves and their own situation. Every time I think of telling some little old widow to save three cents by changing bulbs I get furious…….what about NYC or LA where the lights are on, night and day and whole buildings are lit up all the time…..I think those things are a good place to start. I also think that going dimmer in some situations is dangerous in other ways……that little widow won't be saving a darn dime, if she goes from a 75 watt bul down to a 40 and she doesn't see the toy on the stairs landing and breaks a hip in a fall. As my mom used to say: Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish. Right now, the Obama administration is the LAST people on earth I trust with their judgement.

    • Katrinka says:

I've had the same luck with CFLs and I don't buy them anymore. Now that I know that they are more toxic than my canned tuna, I certainly will be building up my stockpile of incandescents.

    • Katrinka says:

I've had the same luck with CFLs and I don't buy them anymore. Now that I know that they are more toxic than my canned tuna, I certainly will be building up my stockpile of incandescents. Plus, they light that they give off just plain stinks.

  21. MerNJ says:

I heard somewhere years ago that the Edison lightbulb lasted too long (there is one in a firehouse that has been burning for 100 years), so they started making the lightbulbs wear out. Can't make any money if people aren't regularly having to buy more. My husband has that same theory about medical science today. Why haven't we cured cancer yet? There's more money in searching for the cure than finding it.

    • The cancer "industry" is a multi-BILLION dollar business. There are cures out there, but they aren't cost efficient. It's all about money.

    • FreeFlight says:

You bring up an important conundrum.

Despair.com has a demotivator that says:

      CONSULTING
If you're not a part of the solution, there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem.

Those that deal in social work want to help people, but if they are successful, then they work themselves out of a job. If the war on poverty were successful, there would be no poverty and we would not "need" all the massive welfare programs that we have.

      There are conflicting motivations everywhere.

  22. poorboy says:

This smells like a payback to GE and I'm sure they all have to be GE light bulbs to get the stimulus money. Was there just one Gerald Walpin in office up there or what. We need for the rest of them to show there true face and stand up to this tyrrant. We are coming for you in 2010.

My understanding is that it is the job of the EPA to make such mandates, not the White House. The executive branch really needs to start having its perceived powers checked by the judiciary and the legislative branches. The problem is in getting the branches to check one another.

I said it during Clinton and Bush Jr. The party that is in the White House should not be the party that controls congress. Too many bad things happen at that point. I've since revised this to state that the two party system we have today should be eliminated. Representatives should represent their people. I would like to repeal the amendment that had us vote for the senators and have them start representing states again (assigned by the legislatures of those states) and bring the power back to the states from the legislative.

We need judges that will use the rulebook (the constitution) to determine whether a law created or act performed is constitutional or not and to not use their heart to make the determination. If there is a flaw in the constitution (which there well may be), let the people make the decision by amending the constitution and ratifying such an amendment together.

  25. sandyjo53 says:

Man you just can't make this stuff up! if we change our light bulbs, it will eliminate the need for about 14 coal powered plants, well we might as all get ready for the government to take over the electrical grid, they will dictate what a kind of appliances we will have to have in our homes.
I think I will start a business to teach people how to build there all new energy efficient new huts!! that most of the population is going to have to live in. with no jobs and all industry gone and in order to sell the home you live in now you will have to go through some homeowner czar,so we might as well hand our homes over to the government now. It will save a ton of money, we won't need light bulbs,or any fancy new appliances, we can use cow poop to heat with and just dress down in the summer months, because this is the best way to save the planet live like they do in the third world countries
Of course that only applies to us lower class citizens.

I got to say that I do NOT plan to EVER sell my house… and no energy Czar will EVER be admitted into my domicile as long as I draw breath. I have made it possible for myself to make the payments on my mortgage for a godd 2 years without even having a job… if the world as we know it still exsists then, I will have to figure out something else.. but even then I figure it will take em a while to come get it back from me.. So the way I see it I have about 2 1/2 yrs to live LOL… I am going to try and enjoy it!

No More Taxes. although they will come out with some new regulation on that to, I'm sure.

You are all right these light bulbs are dimmer. I bought mine a long time ago and didn't know about the diposal problems and the danger involed when you break one. I put them in my outdoor lights on my garage and some in the house and guess what, now I have to turn on 2 lamps to get the same light as 1 lamp. Big savings huh!! I am not going to use special things when they burn out. I figure if the EPA was on the ball they would have removed them from the shelves. They are harmful to the soil and could seep into the water supply. Oh dear I forgot they only save minnows. Peoples health doesn't concern them.

  28. It seems only the extremely rich and politicians can afford all the new regulations, policies, and taxes. The "poor" get hand outs. The rest of us (that work our butts off) are in between and support them until we are one of the "poor".

I used to wonder how people could jeopardize their lives by demonstrating like the people in Iran. Now I understand. I too am ready to protest in the streets and lay down my life for my freedom.

All those new housing standards will effect poor blacks first and the most. They are the ones living in older neighborhoods in housing that is barely livable. Maybe that is the plan…..to give them all cheap new housing while the rest of America is stuck with the bill. To me, this nonsense bill will only slow housing sales to an absolute crawl and fill the states with abandoned housing that becomes a state and local law enforcement/safety issue. Thanks Uncle Sam. The states have to stand up to these hair-brained ideas. Too expensive and too broad to really fix anything.

I noticed that these stores had a lot of GE microwaves that had the best prices, but I already decided that when the time comes to purchase one that I will tell the sales person that GE products are off my list for consideration even if I have to pay more for another brand. I also boycott Starbucks because they refused to supply our troops with coffee in Iraq.

  32. Dustyluv says:

I don't have any of these light bulbs and I'm trying to store up as many incandescent bulbs that I can. I probably can't get enough to last my life time but I'm going to put off these forced bulbs as long as I can. Oh, and I also make sure that they aren't made by GE.

I also have a question. I have a few chandeliers whose light bulbs are part of their decor. How the heck am I suppose to replace those and still keep the look? I know, they could care less about that.

Plus, I've heard some people say they don't last as long as the "old" bulbs. Real savings there! Then, of course,
if you break one you have to sacrifice your house. Guess we'll need a light bulb Czar.

    • Hey why not have a light bulb Czar…we've already got a water Czar.

    • Boopster says:

I am not agreeing with Barry, but in the matter of these light bulbs, I will say they do last and last. 2 years ago I put them in our ceiling fans just to see how long they would last. I was tired of changing the regular bulbs every 2 months. After 2 years I still have not replaced a single one. The amount of light they omit is another story. Horrible, horrible, horrible…

As a freedom loving american consumer, it should be my right to use as much energy as I want, provided I can pay for it. I would think the more energy people used, the more energy related jobs or economic stimulus.

So now not only do we have to pay more for our electricity and more for our health care and more for this and more for that, we also have to pay more for our light bulbs we use because they are "energy efficient". I guess I can look on the bright side of this, the amount of time I will have to spend at work paying for all of this will help lower my lighting bill at home BECAUSE I WON"T BE THERE!!!!

Oh and I forgot to include the tax increase to pay for all of the light bulb replacements in the white house and other government buildings.

I wonder what they are going to do with all the perfectly good bulbs they will be throwing away?

I wonder if this is covered under the Governments waste fraud and abuse hotline?

    • NeverBurn2 says:

Standard Incandescent Bulbs – $.44 to $.55 each for 60 Watt bulbs – 5,000 hour life.
Standard CFL Bulbs – $1.71+ each for 60 Watt equivalent bulbs – 10,000 hour life.
      http://www.1000bulbs.com/

$4 Billion in energy savings across 120 million households is $33.33 a year per household.

I'll have paid at least $.61 more for each lightbulb over 10,000 hours (using $.55 vs $1.71) and have 63 lights in/on my average-sized house. That's $38.43 more in lightbulb costs . . . Did they offset that? If not, I lost $5.10 a year (times 120 million households is $612,000,000 out of American's pockets). And what will the cost of bulbs be once cheaper incandescents aren't available to compete? And will there be more fees for things like bulb disposal because of the mercury?

I have wondered that myself. I can see all of us making our own soap and dipping candles. Again, Penny wise and dollar foolish.

    • Goober says:

Hey Gregory…. Good to see you back. I have actually been contemplating the same sort of stuff. I worry that we will have to black market so many things in the near future.. It eems that they wish to make all of us into outlaws! I do however see an end to the madness, but it aint purty iffn ya know what I mean!

  40. Shadrach says:

They will probably cut the wattage down on our light bulbs to the point it will resemble using an oil lamp like our great great grand parents used. I was reading this to my wife and she ask, "who will be able to buy the lamps and light bulbs, nobody will have a job to afford it !! " This guy is nuttier than a Fruit Cake!!!

    • moesite says:

I PLAN TO LAY IN A GOOD SUPPLY OF NON-GE LIGHTBULBS SO I'LL BE READY ! IVE TRIED THOSE ENERGY EFFICIENT ONE AND THEY GIVE OFF A YELLOW LIGHT (WHICH I DONT LIKE) AND DO NOT
GIVE OFF THE WATTAGE THEY CLAIM!!

    • You actually bring up a good question Shadrach, will they lower the wattage on the bulbs in time? I heard that they had lowered the heating power of toasters years ago to cut down on their energy usage. I don't know for sure if that is true, but I think it is because when I was a kid you'd put bread in a toaster and a couple minutes later you had toast. Now I have to wait about five minutes for my toaster oven to make the same toast.

  41. Boopster says:

Mitch McConnell is right how about we use our resources for better, more efficient energy sources. If Iran can have nuclear power why can’t America. Clean energy.

    • Gregory says:

It is amazing how this administration will allow Iran to possess Nuclear power, but won't allow us to use it. If you want to put this nation to work, drop in about 1,000 new nuclear power plants. Heck, even one as small as one that is used for an aircraft carrier can supply a city with more juice than it can consume. If a city is too friggin big, build several smaller units and section the city out. There is a way without taking America's wealth, and shipping it overseas.

      • Boopster says:

You are hereby appointed the new Nuclear Czar. Get her done. All new policies are leading to overseas jobs. The oil industry is facing .77 tax on a gallon of gas if CNT goes forward, they are already looking abroad.

    • NancyNurse says:

Because the people of California are idiots and they say no! And of course, Obama listens. Yes, maybe I wouldn't be anxious to build nuke facilities on fault lines just to tempt fate and the laws of nature, but I think I would allocate the money for two nuke facilities in each state—if they want them. If they don't, they can find other ways to bring down energy costs. Nuke facilities are the ONLY way that we can really fuel massive demand for power with hybrid vehicles. Other sources would help, (solar and wind) but are too undependable. These are the 'shovel ready' jobs that need to be created and people trained and employed in the power production plants to have the safest and most efficient in the world. The time is now, and Obama hesitates and runs in the other direction. Reminds me of the TV show ASk ED where Ed Begley Jr. drives his wife nuts with all his green ideas for their house. I can foresee in 2012, we will all be hitched to exercise bikes, producing the fuel to pump water and toast bread. Talk about a numb skull over reaction to a non-crisis!

      • Boopster says:

NancyNurse, Obama keeps using California as a beacon of correct policies for their residents. In the words of Patrick Buchanan, “Americans should take a good, hard look at the fiscal and social wreck of the Golden State, because where California is now, the rest of America is rapidly heading. Never liked exercise bikes. Lol.

    • Goober says:

Boop…. now you KNOW that won't happen. IT would make SENSE! And god knows you cannot bankrupt us if you give us clea efficient energy! Tsk Tsk…

  42. knutjb says:

I am tired of this century's Jimmy Carter in a sweater telling me to conserve during dire economic times. The Dems economic policies have emptied my wallet, forcing me to conserve.

    • spottedhog says:

hmmmm…. wait…. Isn't the current economic situation a problem with not enough spending of individual's money? Shouldn't we be encouraging spending by consumers? Isn't conservation of energy hurting jobs in the energy sector? Or at least less money in the till to work with? hmmmmmm…

  43. pslwd says:

Oh my, oh my – these people sure can spin a tall tale.

  44. RNHunter says:

Raise you hands if you trust Obama's economic math. He says he will save consumers money, but at the same time wants to pass cap and tax legislation which will be the largest tax increase in US history some say. This lack of logic is similar to his public health ecnomics. He raises health costs by building buildings and hiring endless bureaucrats to tell us what to do and think which will double the costs, and then says health cost if free. Yes, health is free since we no longer call the bill recieve that – but our tax increase will be twice what health care was. Likewise maybe we save a dime on his low energy lights, but then our bill doubles. This makes this stuff either a lie, or no one in Washington is capable of simple math. Whether it is a lie or simply economic incompetence, they dont get my vote.

I wander if we screw one of these energy saving lightbulbs into Obama's brain, if he would start saving money, instead of wasting it? No, his screws are the wrong thread, and they won't fit!

  51. SilentTexan says:

I swear, this administraion is really living in LA-LA LAND to think we should cut back energy that is essential for out everyday life. First the lamps, then dishwasher, refridgerators, ovens? What he's really doing is trying to get rid of coal burning energy all together and expext to get the "greener" energy (solar, wind, etc.) by tomorrow. But it takes YEARS to make a transition from that after what we use today. It's basically like saying "get rid of all the furniture in your house, because we will need to have newer furniture" but you'll be waiting for furniture that you haven't even bought yet, and even hasn't been made yet. Yet with all this, he still avoids Nuclear power plants which have shown to be more effective to what he wants. I don't understand this man at all.

    • spottedhog says:

Maobama has not had any life experiences. He only listens to those around him. Heck, he believes farting in car tires will save billions and billions.

Solar panels rely on silicon. There is a world shortage right now, with many solar panel manufacturers fighting over the computer processor leftover manufacturing scraps.

Now just how can subsidizing alternative energy lead to economic growth? If wind, solar, and ocean current energy can be viable on their own, let companies invest in such things instead of the government. … stupid government…

    • littlewolf26 says:

Another thing NObama is not considering is the enormous price tag that solar & wind have! My husband is a contractor for the DOE and ALWAYS is aghast as to HOW EXPENSIVE these forms of energy are! Where is the $$ for his "pet project" supposed to come from? They have already run our national debt into the trillions, so what is this "brilliant idea" supposed to be funded with? GEEZ!

  52. Goober says:

Boy I tell ya! The hits just a keep on comin! I am SOOO over this crapadeum. I think that the Senate will do the same as the House did. They will congregate and decide who has to vote yae nd who should vote no so that we THINK that someone in Washington actually REPRESENTS us! I think they are all in collusion with one another because they seem to enjoy this fleeting at best "Power" Done with you all!

  59. BHO now wants to tell us what lightbulbs we can use, remember when they regulated the toilets to the low water use kind, it took three or 4 flushes to take the dung away using twice the water. Just another crappy idea by the "Oh we are so much smarter than you," crowd.
