This guy is small potatoes compared to what's happening in our country. Don't let Cap and Trade or Socialized Health Care pass! Focus on action, not on opinions.
I lost track of the score. Does anyone know if the Democrats or the Republicans are ahead in the scandal count?
As a reminder, for those of you who believe that this is only a personal matter between him and his family, I'd like to point out that the character of a person says a lot about who he or she is. Lying, deceiving, infidelity, dishonesty, poor judgment, being irresponsible, knowingly causing pain and anguish to your wife and children, being emotionally unstable, and being an overall piece of human debris should be a good indication that the man is not fit to be in a leadership position.
I'm old fashion. I believe that a person who holds the public trust should be held to a higher standard.
I wish he would just go away–maybe Bermuda would take him.
I know we are not suppose to copy and paste all over but THIS IS TOO IMPORTANT. They have robbed and pillaged us enough already. Get on the phone 912'ers!!!!!!

These are a few dems on the fence.
Senator has huge midlife crissi and acts stupidly, cheating on wife and looking for a more simple life.
accidently trips and has private parts colide with chick from argentena that he has been sexting for three years.
ok, so the guy doesn't have the class to step down and admit that he has insulted his family and his state. Who can blame him. Clinton embarrassed his whole family and country and laughs about it to this day, probally while fondling some haitian ho on the cell phone to the secretary of state he cheated on.
These people do not reflect our values and this is the one case in which i am in favor of more law. more law to spell out that when you show you are lacking in morals and character that you are unfit for office. no investigation … you are out. You stole??? you're out. You get bought out by the saudi orthe pharmaceutical company … you're out.
not a timetable to decise how it spins or how much the community will put up with it. These are our representatives. as such they should show THE VERY BEST AND BRIGHTEST of our nation. THEY DO NOT!!!
and let me make another thing clear. I didn't elect them. I don't think anyone did. I think it's all a lie at this point. HOw else do you explain Barney Frank or Chris Dodd? no one would vote for those fat crooked retards in a million years. THOSE STATES ARE JUST PLAIN NOT THAT DUMB OR UNINFORMED!!!! Same with California … trheir representatives DO NOT reflect who those people who vote.

Dear Editor, Have appreciated your work. But this is at the top of the news, when Cap and Trade is the issue?
We are not part of this news story. I think of the kids and the wife. Do they need to find this on a site promoting 912 family ideals?
And yes, none of our families are perfect, but this family has a need for grace and space to handle it in private.
Gossip is a listed sin. So let's try to have reverence and end the tabloid news feeds.
I agree.
THat is why I'm trying to keep my post at the top!!!!
CALL CONGRESS TODAY>>>>>>>
877-851-6437 or 202-224-3121
I totally agree with you. Between Michael Jackson and Sanford, our media is hiding the important votes that are being taken RIGHT NOW!

I think the gov.should resign and use his free time to get his house in order. decide whether he wants his family or his mistress. Right now he cannot govern the state.
Politicians…and infidelity…I think now I know how Abraham must have felt when he was looking for 50 righteous men in Sodom…then 40…then 30…then..20…..then 10…I'm wondering, are there any righteous left??
Leave politics and the Republican Party now Mr. Sanford. You have let many of us down. You were selfish. Many people continue to fail to understand that their passionate, heat of the moment decisions will effect their selves and many others for much longer than their one passionate moment. This inident has made me understand more and more what Mr. Beck was talking about by saying both parties are in a world of their own for themselves.
Sorry, but I disagree.
First, we are talking about a public official. As such, you expect him to be truthful, honest, and transparent in the performance of his duties. The governor has violated the public trust.
Secondly, while I agree that you need to be very careful about intervening in personal relationships, there comes a time when such intervention is a moral obligation to protect the innocent.
Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to report wife, girlfriend, or child beatings. Those are felony offenses. Nor would I hesitate to intervene to get the guy counseling. After I retired from the Marine Corps, I was working in a company. A fellow office worker was an alcoholic. By working closely first with his family and then by arranging a formal intervention that forced him into rehab, we were able to turn a very bad situation around. That was 18 years ago and he hasn't taken a drink since and he is happily married.
We could have fired him, but that would have only moved the problem to another location.
Problems don't get better by ignoring them.

ShiningCityGirl,
I've got that number on another phone. Let's keep up the fight! Keep calling, even if it's busy!
I just tried calling both numbers several times and it is solid busy! I hope people call in today and tell our government to get their head out of their ass! =)
Fight4America_
that is perfect!!
keep trying.
I can only get to my Rep. The rest NEVER answer a call, an e-mail or a letter.
Awesome, just called
"We're sorry, all circuits are busy now"
Keep it going!!!
http://www.whywevoted.com
I did. In fact I just got off the phone with her. I invited her to our local Tea Party……not to speak or have any relevant part in it, but just to be a fly on the wall and HEAR us. She's busy, there's a parade she's in. (there's no rolling eyes thing I can put up.) It was the most useless call I made. They don't want to know what we have to say or ask or anything. We are nothing more than unwelcome gnats at a picnic….getting in their way of their personal agendas.
Her phone person, made it sound like Pelosi, or the President, gave them an assignment, and their duty is to answer to HIM. Not US. To MAKE IT PASS…..No MATTER WHAT.
I have told everyone I have talked to that even if it does not pass and they voted yes we will vote AGAINST them in 2010.
The only power "WE the PEOPLE" have is our vote.
KEEP IT UP
Oh, I know exactly why most people want it. They want the money, rock-star status, and life time health and retirement benefits that go with one of the laziest jobs in America.
Is it too much to ask that someone run for office because they BELIEVE in something other than the perks or their own interests?
That is why it is so sad. He was strict when it came to the constitution. He was different than most. I guess everyone has a breaking point. But when he knew, and he did, that he had reached his it was time to pass. I can not admire a father that puts himself above his four sons and an entire state. What he does from now on I can. Time will tell.
Go…Please go. And take Newt with you…
I wish Sanford would disappear. This is just another distraction.
9/12ers we have to stay focused on the Cap and Tax vote!
Life IS what happens while we are busy making other plans!! I don't want him to disappear, just not be a leader for awhile. He was one of the few governors that actually "got it." Same for Newt. Great ideas, probably shouldn't be leading…too much baggage. But they sure have their place. Especially when we have people around like "Kontora"..talk about NOT getting it! Like Cap and Trade would bring in money and be good for the earth. If it makes business go over seas, how does that save jobs here? Less taxes would help who?? If business increase overseas I guess the earth doesn't know it, just a little secret…shhh don't tell and the earth won't know the difference…
Look, regardless of how you feel about Governor Sanford and whether he should stay in office…there is a massive tsunami to our economic system about to hit….cap and trade…let's hammer our representatives and senators…TODAY and urge them to vote NO…Gov. Sanford will fade away…the self-righteous will see to that…cap and trade will hurt us for a lifetime.
I couldn't agree more with that. I've posted the Congressional switchboard information on ever forum I'm a member of to inform people of the vote (since the media clearly isn't going to!) and give them the "how to" on contacting their reps.
As I've been saying elsewhere, they probably won't listen to us anyway, but if we don't voice our opposition, we're complicit.
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/issues/basics...
Call your local reps. Tell them to vote NO, then be prepared to vote their sorry @$$ out of office in 2010 for not listening to you.

I agree. Here is a link I got from Newt Gingrich to sign a petition against it…

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
- John Adams
Sorry, but he needs to go.
Let me expound on this if I may. I don't fault him personally for what he did. As many have said, that's between him, his wife and kids, and God. I'm not perfect either and I don't judge other men; that's not my place.
However, it is our responsibility and our DUTY to ensure out Government is being run by those that are a moral and religious people. This is why I say he must go. Make no mistake, God can judge him as a man, I'm judging him as a Governor. And as a Governor, he has failed to sustain the prerequisite credentials for the office he currently holds.
Sanford MUST GO , Sanford YOU hurt your wife your kids, your freinds , your supporters ,your state, and us, YOUR now history ,your fired, quit and go away , I hope only your wife can forgive you.
INFIDELITY SUCKS!!! That however, should not be reason enough to determine whether or not one is capable of governing. What is a determining factor is; that this knuclehead left the country without so much as telling the next in the line of succesion where he was. I think most could agree, this was weak act by a weak man. Bad as it may be, I believe it is still not on par with the type of character flaw that would allow a man to attend a racist church for 20 years, or cultivate a friendship with a domestic terrorist. It does however, call into question Mark Sanford's ability to make rational decisions on behalf of the people from the State of South Carolina–but I have every bit of confidence that South Carolinians can figure that out for themselves.
Enough already.. good grief this is between his wife, his children and his God. It is none of my business. The people who are unfaithful to us everyday should be our concern. The ones who sit , casting the first stones, all the while screwing us out of our tax dollars and freedoms.
How are we going to tell those who are unfaithful to us unless we have a standard of integrity and morality with which to compare? That's why this is so bitterly dissappointing. Sanford had been one of those few we held up for such a comparison. Now that we are seeing he lacks integrity, we are forced to ask: "Is there anyone out there who can lead us?" We can't change the direction fo this country by criticizing those who are doing the job of government badly without trying to find and edify someone who can do it well. This whole fiasco just makes that task more difficult.
I dont agree with people saying he is a hypocrate b/c he voted to impeach Clinton. Although both men cheated on thier wives, the governor did not LIE while he was under oath and Clinton did. Anyone who lies under oath should be removed from office. Period.
And he didn't have sex with his employee in the office, then use other employees to cover it up.
I'm over all of it.
Politics is just becoming hollywood for people who don't have the looks for movies. I'm tired of politicians acting like movie stars.
Unfortunately I disagree, because he did lie on his location during the 5 days. As a comander in chief of a state, this is uncalled for and in my belief is a reason for impeachment. I like Sanford and I was hoping that he would run for Pres or at least be the VP. This is just another kick to the gut by our politicians. We as a country have had many Presidents and Governors that have had affairs and still ran an effective country or state, however, we have to stand on principals. The affair is one issue, but when you lie on oath or leave your state/country for no reason especially not notifying anyone, that becomes a different issue.
He did not lie is staff said that was where he was at while they really didn't know either and no they was not under oath. But he could of brought her to the US using tax payers money and put her up in a fancy hotel sort of like what Obama did for his pizza guy!
The facts are their is abuse of power and just bad morals. Lieing under OATH should hold more merit for removal from office then a mistake in morals. EVERYONE makes these moral mistakes and how they handle it should be what you our looking at. Some come clean and bring things out while others lie lie and more lies.
I see every time a (R) get cought on a moral issue draged across the coals but when a (D) does it oh its ok its just a little mistake but well help you thrue it. WE are all hypocrates when we preach such.
Just goes to show, that no matter what level of office you hold, we all screw up at one time or another. He should stay, just my opinion.

It is always sad when this stuff happens. I pray that this family can come to peace with it and that their healing can start. Their are so few leaders that I have any respect for and it saddens me greatly, Mark Sanford was one of the people I had hoped could lead. He seems to understand States rights and the concept of our Republic. But I am not going to spend to much time a domestic/ family problem of a Governor on the other side of the country. When Washington DC is so busy messing up our health care and trying to get cap and trade passed and card check and give a bunch of illegals the fast road to citizenship.

Although part of me agrees with cajunpatriot ("too tired to care") another part of me must care. Politicians set precedent in ways other than legislatively. They set public and social precedent. Unfortunately, he has betrayed the public trust, his good deeds have been undermined because of this, and his losing everything may be the only thing that doesn't lower the bar even further. For the sake of my children's future I think he will have to pay the price in full.
We must remember politicians are not hired and fired as if in a corporate setting. They are dependent on the public trust and elected based on their platforms. His platform is one of conservative ideals. His betrayal of his wife is a sad thing, but his betrayal of his conservative voters is what is at issue, here.
I find it ironic that someone who voted for Bill Clinton's impeachment turned out to have an affair of their own. With that said, Bill Clinton continued on in office after his affair so if this Governor decides to finish out his term in office, I say let him.
Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina acknowledged Thursday that he visited his mistress in Argentina on a taxpayer-financed trade mission to South America early last summer, an admission adding another layer to a scandal that produced increasing calls for his resignation.
This hypocritical holier-than-thou Republican would not use tax money to improve South Carolina schools but used tax money to have sex, one more example of Republican fiscal responsibility and family values.
I reailize that Glen Beck thinks this is awful. But after 33 years I have spent in Industry both huge companies and small, we learned to never allow ourselves to consider people's personal issues at work – but only consider the work they do when at work. When I was a manager, even if we had a case where we knew for example that a man was beating his girl friend (true example) we watched but did not touch the person until he brought that issue into work and used company phones to threaten her. Then we fired him. But we in general made it a point to make a big distinction between professional and personal behavior when people are not at work. I do not understand why politics should be different than industry in this regard.
Any time we set a person up on a pedestal, sooner or later they are going to get knocked down!! We, as humans are inherently flawed!! We all have skeletons in our closets. The thing with politicians, celebrities, etc. their lives are made public and someone is always out to knock them off of that pedestal. And when their lives come tumbling down, its usually a hard and dramatic fall. Living a perfect life is impossible and we can't please everyone and not everyone will like us, that's human nature. As a politician they have to walk a tightrope everyday, because people judge them that way. Infidelity in marriage is a bad thing for normal folks, getting caught is just as bad. But since people hold persons of high office to a different standard, infidelity is usually a death knell to their political life (unless your Clinton) there are exceptions to most all rules!! I would say that if he emerges from this with his carrier intact, it will be up to each individual to judge him according to their convictions.
I hope he doesn't stay. He's making the GOP look bad and they already have a million problems.
Yeah, we don't want to start looking like Clinton, Edwards, Frank or__________ fill in the blank, or who was that guy in New York with the hookers.?
What he did was wrong, he will be punished because his party has basic morals.
Yup. Bring in some irrelevant issues about some one else. . .
I was talking about the unity problems.
Although I am not from the Govenors state I hear he did a really good job overall of representing his constituents. Unfortunately these actions do speak volumes of his character and wether he is trustworthy or not. I am just being honest here by saying I really had good vibes about this guy before this happened and now I am not really sure he can be trusted like a public servant should be. I realize people make mistakes in their lives and I am the first to forgive those mistakes as I would hope others would do for the mistakes I make. So person to person I only wish the best for the Govenor and hope he and his family can find a way to make it through this. As for him staying in politics I believe he has much more important things to focus on rather than mass public interest, but then again that is completely up to him and I'm just putting my two cents out there.
I would say that since he made it a public issue in the way he handled it and in the way he handled Bill Clinton's mess, yes, it is the business of the people he represents. I feel that it is just as applicable as being sold a false bill of goods. If the guy promised to support family values and paraded his family around in commercials and speeches, then he made a point of saying, "Hey, look at me. I am a solid family guy and I know I can represent you because your values are mine." Now we find out that he is the kind of guy who can sneek around for a year, get thrown out of his house by his wife, appear on TV promoting how he is for the little guy and then sneaks off to Argentina. Sorry I just can not relate to that and that is not the bill of goods he sold the people of SC.
One, this is between him and his wife and god!
Two, should he step down? That's up to him, where's it written that being unfaithful, is punished by losing everything?
Three, regardless of his failings, would you vote for him knowing that he is a flawed human being?
I'm to tired to care.
I agree
Me too.
America, ALL OF YOU ROCK!!!!!
I have literally been trying to get through FOR HOURS, AND IT IS STILL BUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Everyone… make sure to call and ask for Congressman Gary Peters, from Michigan! He
LET HIM HAVE IT!!!!!
represents YOU, TOO!!!!!
Will do. I have been asking for everyone I can think of.
John McCain-R(Arizona) tell him you live in Phoenix,Apache Junction,Buckeye. just pick a town.
Evan Bayh- D(Indiana)- tell him you live in Elkhart, South Bend or Goshen
Gary Peters- D(Michigan)- tell him you live in Niles, Benton Harbor, or Buchanen
Anyone you can think of!!
Blow up their voicemail.
Irrelevant? The point is should he stay or go, not the GOP as a whole.
I believe I addressed that, he was wrong and his party has basic moral values.
What unity? All you do is spout socialist rhetoric. There can never be unity between socialism and our Republic. This country was founded as a true Republic.
Again, please find a blog that is relevant to your drivel.
