Obama's socialized medicine excludes Union health benefits from taxation…..isn't that SPECIAL?
Unions = Mafia, All unions are is a legalized protection racket.
The unions don't care where those helmets were made. All the unions care about is getting an honest week's pay for an honest day's work.
Wait til you see how fast Chrysler and GM go down to REAL defeat now that both are parially "owned" by the UAW!
Unions are, by nature, looking out for the workers ONLY. It should be fun to see them either price themselves out of business giving themselves raises and perks or going on strike against themselves to get raises or perks!
It should be a hoot watching them self destruct.
With the unions in charge of the companies, it will be fun to see them squirm when confronted with reality (though they might whine to the Obama regime and the thugocracy will slap all sorts of regulations and taxes on Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, etc).
…become a Teacher or Social worker and along with the unions, help destroy America. Join us today!!! ….social worker=American Gestapo.
Unions should be treated like the kind of business they are. These days they are militant and much like the mafia. The crap they make is usually unreliable and their workers are usually highly paid lazy slugs. It is legalized robbery.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes we have happily jumping into the Global economy which allows us to buy a lot of stuff on the cheap, but this is increasing our trade deficit, which is money leaving the country. We are receiving a net loss, if this continues long enough much of our country's wealth will be lost, yes our country will be broke.
There are many levels of skills in this country, an example 15 million that have come across the border looking for work. I think everyone needs a job to work, no matter what their skill level is. Why isn’t ok to have some lower skill level jobs? These people want to work just as much as a highly educated people. I know we can have items manufactured in China for less, but what do you propose to do with our low skilled people? I don’t think you will be able to export them.
Yes America is being very short sighted, which in time will lead to our demise

More than likely, those same cry-babies buy all kinds of crap made in China.
Bring on the FAIR TAX and watch the jobs come back to the U.S.A.
I think Congress would be afraid to let go of their taxing power in that way. I'm for the fair tax, but so far any flat rate consumption based tax proposals have been in addition to the taxes we already have
Man, as a part chinese person, you guys probally don't know the chinese like i know the chinese. NOw that the debt is so high and in pocket ….. now every little thing will be a "you owe me". paying back the bill or not. project comes up "you give it to me … you owe me". Does it count to pay back the debt? Not that the spinelss policitcians would ask for that, but NO!!!!! You owe debt, you give this project to me, you owe me.
We run into some project in south america …. "no no … we take that .. you owe me". Part of the pay back? NO!!!! YOU GIVE TO ME!!! YOU OWE ME!!!!!
"You need new uniforms for union workers in US? We do that. you give us that. you owe me" ….. sorry but that is all this rings of
I am not sure I understand your post?
OK ELVES , PLEASE TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON , WE CANNOT JUST BE HERE POSTING AND ALL WE GET IS MODERATION , if the site is under attack please tell us ,what we as true 9/12ers can do to help.
Susan, I'm having problems too! Either my posts are not approved or I can't see the replies. I don't think we are "cured" yet….. very frustrating !!!!
This is just one more piece of proof that the unions don't represent the American worker. They represent their own power base. All that happened here is that they got caught.
Hello? Why are my comments being blocked?
Sensoring is alive and well on this site.
The AFL-CIO is just a con job. Hats made in China, HUH, then they blame it on a new employee! What a crock, If they walk the walk, and talk the talk, but then buy products made in China, they must be union only when working, then they buy stuff from Walmart that are made everywhere, but in America.
There was a place for the unions many years ago, and I think there still is, but unions have become to militant in the last decade, and extremism is flourishing with all the dues money the members are dishing out, and only to the extremist democrats, including Dictator Obama. Obama has broken many laws since taking office, that favor his union supporters. It is pittiful how he cuddles to the union !
Type 3 words, this comes up

This site is really messed up!!
Note to Unions… "you gotta look for the China label"!
The united states has to find a way to compeat with China and the only way to do that is let the freemarket take place. China makes good stuff or you wouldn't buy it that is how the free market works and buissness that lets there unions push them around so they can't make an afordable and reliable product don't deserve to survive along with there unions. China is beating us by out produching the USA. Everyone asks the question is the bang worth the buck.
You are correct in your analysis of the free market. I will say however in light of many recent events ie. recalls. I go out of my way to find things made in the USA. It is not easy but I sure do try, our quality control in the US is much better than that over seas.

You have to understand the business end of all this. I own an industrial service company and I cannot buy American because American products are not available. If they were the cost is so out of touch with the industry it makes it impossible to compete.
Second, our esteemed government forced companies to sell their technology to China, Japan, N and S Korea, and a host of other countries. At first mostly smal items then they got larger and larger. As time went on these countries perfect our technology and found ways to automate the entire operation. Also, they perfect the process in which to make these items cutting costs(not just labor) to produce these products. Because of this America slowly became non-existent in the manufacturing world. We make nothing, we only consume. But, just as what happened with the housing industry, it was crackpot policy that cause the failure.
Now, let's look at unions. I was working at GM's Willow Run Transmission plant. It's shear size is a marvel in itself. As I was working on a machining cell one worker looked on with curiosity. He eventually asked how he could be part of my industry. He asked, "How much will I make?" At the time I was making just under 80K/yr. He said and I quote," oh, that's a serious pay cut for me. I made $117,000 last year and anticipate slightly more this year." His job! Sit in a chair and load a part into a machine and hit a green button. That's it.
Unions were at one time good. But now it is simply legalized robbery of the consumers tax dollars and consumer dollars.
If they want China out, then they need to cut their pay to a place where we can afford to buy these low products. Otherwise, we are subsidizing the pillage of a band of thieves. Unions can go to hel#$%%@
As a business owner, do you think we should drop the corporate gains tax?
I am not a business owner. I agree 100% though. Unions at one time protected their people but not now. They collect their dues and go to a meeting or two. I worked in the Hotel Industry for many years and saw this. We have a real problem with everything you have mentioned. Companies are leaving our country at a fast pace and the last three administrations have done absolutely nothing to address the issues. We need to look at the countries our corporation are going to and become more competative. Common Sense tells you that you need to look at Quantaty. Lowering the taxes to companies will return business to the United States thus more revenue will be made. We cannot continue to punish corporations for doing business here they will just leave
Amen, brother.
Looking at the photo, I will bet that these were simply cheap, novelty hard hats. They are just thin plastic hats for costume use, not real hard hats. I am sure that whoever ordered the hats didn't bother to ask if they had "Made in China" printed on them. (Let's face it, most of us wouldn't think to ask either.)
It's a small gaff, but nothing to make a big deal about. When you're buying cheap party supplies and decorations, it's almost bound to happen.
Major Garrett of FoxNews may have started the ball rolling with his two short tough questions which caused BO to blink and stutter. Pravda State TV again asked mostly fluff ball questions. Here are questions that were not asked at BO’s news conference:
1. Why have you exempted union workers from having to pay tax on their health care benefits?
2. What are you doing about the nuclear proliferation of N. Korea and Iran?
3. Now that the CBO has priced your health care reform (socialized medicine) at $1.6Trillion, don’t you think that will finish bankrupting the U.S.?
4. Why have you transferred all power to regulate financial institutions to the failed Federal Reserve, which caused the last Great Depression and will cause this one) and eliminated the SEC?
5. Will you bring a certified copy of you birth certificate to your next news conference and end this speculation on whether you were born in the United States?
6. Aren’t the Czars you have appointed unconstitutional?
7. Mr. President, isn't almost everytrting you're doing unconstitutional?
Part 3 of 3 of questions that were not asked at BO’s news conference:
12. Why did you know in advance the Huffington Post question that was going to be asked?
13. Why won’t you take an interview from Glenn Beck? Hannity? Rush? Or any conservative like you have been doing with Pravda State TV?
14. Why did you not veto the recent Congressional bill to relocate Hamas terrorists to the U.S.?
15. Since they were the main causes of the banking crisis, why weren’t additional regulations put on Freddie and Fannie?
16. Do you think that your Justice Department needs to investigate Acorn’s accounting practices (or what ever they are calling themselves) for fraud?
Worth a try, but I predict 2 hrs of rambling garbage and lies, that in no way comes close to addressing any of the questions. It will culminate in some sort of Bush blaming exercise.
Now that BO is five months into to his failed policies, I wonder when he will finally take responsibility for his debacle and stop blaming Bush? I think I already know your response.
Question 12 is stupid. The president should be prepared for all questions.
Question 13 is stupid. He is interested in audience, not flattering the stupids. Rush has already said he wants Obama to fail. He doesn't get another pot shot! Obama appeared on Jay Leno. Do Beck or Hannity have that many viewers?
Question 14 is stupid. We detained these people. We called them terrorists. Where else are they supposed to go? Back to where they can be bad boys again if indeed they ever were? We made them our problem. We have to solve our problem.
Question 15 is stupid. Who says there weren't additional regulations put on Freddie and Fannie?
Question 16 is stupid. What is the justification for an investigation at the national level? Shouldn't the states where the fraud occurred be involved first?
UncaBama has jello for a spine and uses enough baby oil to slip slide away from any firm commitment
I do agree that the Unions started the problem, and they were and are too greedy.
But they are not the only ones.
The problem is that there is no reason to believe that outsourcing will stop with low-end products. The Chinese products quality is getting better all the time. Any item can be produced just as good in another country, with proper materials and quality control ect.
I'm sure at some point your Chinese manufacture will be ready to produce your high-end products.
Why is that we don't want to pay an American wage to have an item produced here?
Would we tell teachers, nurses, firemen or police, we are going to bring in people to fill their jobs with people from other countries? Why not it would be cheaper, and save a lot of money. Why should their labor be exempt, we should have free trade all the way.
We outsource customer service, computer programming & ect. to India, yes the big Corporations make more money and pay less US taxes. Every time you buy something from another country it adds to our Trade Deficit, i.e. some country owns another piece America.
But look at the results: Higher unemployment, Bailouts, Our economy and country may not survive.
Look at how many people are unemployed here. People in this country need work too, they are not just going to disappear, they will be on welfare, (pay me now or pay me later) idea. The unemployed can’t buy much, and will continue to pull the economy down.
With no work they will have ample time to grow their family.
What ever happened to loyalty to America?
Yes, we are working toward full Unemployment
Texasray,
I don't think that the blame falls on the unions. They are just after the bottom line – the bottom line for their members that is. If there is any power to the unions to be gotten, it will accrue to their members. That's what membership means.
When we look at the salaries earned by the exec's in the failed companies, and others as well, we have to realize that what the unions were asking for was an equal share of the pie. Corporate decided they didn't want to share – so they took the jobs overseas. Now, there is no one to buy their products. Boo Hoo … the overseas workers aren't making enough to afford to buy what they make, and the unemployed here in this country are also a closed market. So inventory stocks up. So Obama borrows the money and gives a stimulus check to every taxpayer to pull down that inventory, and the big corporations cry that they didn't get a bailout without having to post assets to support it. Boo hoo. I would have liked to see more of GM owned by the union. It would be interesting to see how that would work out. A little experimentation is in order.
There are many corporations that outsourced just to increase their bottom line and they were not unionized.
All that I'm saying is that outsourcing is increases our trade deficit. If as a country we continue buy more from other countries than we sell, in time this trade deficit will become too great to carry with out printing massive amounts of new money. This will devaluate the dollar and cause high inflation.
The larger problem is the unemployed, they must be put back to work in jobs pay for themselves in the American system.
I would say it’s time to put America first.
This may sound corny, but the only cars I have ever bought were American models – in the US anyway. When I did live overseas three years I used overseas cars only that period. Long ago I saw a license plate that read "Hungry? Eat your foreign Car !". I thought it made its point well. I somewhat avoid buying anything foreign if I have a choice, and unlike many, I have never bought the argument that American items are inferior. I tend to buy mostly HP computers and printers for example, and my HP Printer is a dream to work with compared to an Epson model next to it. Somone years ago tried to spread the word that American goods were inferior, and many people bought that argument. Not in my mind.
For the last six years or so I look carefully at the label of EVERYTHING I buy. I buy American when I can find it and afford it. I choose to spend a few pennies more for NON-CHINESE prodducts when I can. I started at a home center buying some garden tools made in Poland, the price wasn't more than a dollar more but the quality was FAR superior. Most stuff made in China is junk. Sometimes it's hard to buy computer stuff not made in China and some other things too but you will be surprised at how much is available that's not made in China. My dollar, my choice. How do you spend your money?
I drive a Ford.
I don't know what American model car you've been driving, but my experience with American cars has been atrocious. As far as the car market was concerned…spending alot of TIME and money and the run-around in the auto shop finally got to me and I felt I could no longer support them and I told them so. Did they care? No ! The foreign cars I have bought since have been a joy…. like night and day !!!!! As for other products, every store I go into … I always ask the clerks where the American products are and they either look dumbfounded or explain that it is cheaper to sell imports from China. About 20-30 years ago, someone changed the American ethic to a throw away society and it has finally caught up to us.
I imagine anyone can get a bad car from anywhere. We have mostly bought our American cars new and kept them an average of 10 years with few issues. My current American car is approaching 12 years old and I love i and hope it lasts forever. I am not saying you have blind spots, since I do not know you. But I know many people with foreign cars are fooling themselves. One person loved volkswagen and loved it but spent many evenings working on it to get it run right. Another person had a Toyota where the front seat broke and he had to somehow avoid an accident while driving. The first Datsuns in the US had no weep holes and would rust. And yet so many of those people would tell me their cars are great. So at least some of this foreign hype, is just that, hype. But I do respect that you found it works for you.
Part 2 of questions that were not asked at BO’s news conference:
7. Where are you going to get the money for cap (tax) and trade energy socialism?
8. Why have you deserted Israel in their greatest time of need?
9. Why have you not gone to church but once since being elected? And what did you mean we are now a Muslim nation?
10. What do you think about the impending tea parties that will take place across the nation on the 4th of July?
11. If you took other drugs besides nicotine, such as heroin and cocaine, would you consider yourself 95% cured or still an addict?
I do agree that the Unions started the problem, and they were and are too greedy.
But they are not the only ones.

I'm sure at some point your Chinese manufacture will be ready to produce your high-end products.
It is true that the Chinese can make things at a better price (cheap labor) however, as for a better product I’m not so sure. The quality control of things that come from the country is less than stellar and honestly I try not to buy things made in China. Too many things recalled from that country.
I can't get on any other subject title than this. So does anyone know if there is a tea party for Seattle on the 4th of July?
Susan,
Yes there is a Tea Party in Seattle on the 4th. Here is a link to the upcoming Tea Parties in WA State, you'll see Seattle on the list where you can click on the link for more details. I'll be at the Everett Tea Party for my second time come Independence Day. http://www.reteaparty.com/teaparties/?s=washingto...
wow how could someone get that many replys ,
I think the server is going wonky again, Susan.
Whats going on? No matter what subject I click on this is the only one that comes up on my screen.
As ironic as it is to watch the union's snafu it's that fact that they have such a loud voice in the Dem party and I think that speaks loads in itself.
They think that because they have all this power they can do as they please. It will catch up with them but at what expense to us?
Unions provide health care..so the US government wants to become a Union with Universal Health Care. There were probably 10 union fat cats that had to take a look at that hat first before they could approve it. Just like it takes 10 union fat cats to approve a worker to paint a line on a road. I recently read the platform at DNC.org and now I call the Democratic party the Unioncratic party.
We can't compete with the low wages of some other countries. We don't have trade policies to make goods manufactured elsewhere the same price as if they were made here so of course people buy more foreign goods. This is also why companies leave the U.S. to manufacture goods in countries like China because it saves them money to do so. Unions drive the price of goods produced here up by inflating the wages of the union workers, and forcing companies to provide benefits packages that are not given by non-unionized companies. We have a lot of things to think about, and work towards fixing if we ever expect to see a solid manufacturing base reemerge here in the United States. Unions need to get a clue, and so does our government.
If we want to bring our businesses back to the US, Congress needs to lift the capital gains tax!
I heard on conservative talk radio, from one of the "experts", that doing this for five years would have had more of an economic boost than the "stimulus", and we wouldn't have had to spend hundreds of billions doing it. He said it would have been free; But, we know the government doesn't do anything for free.
Write, email, and call your representatives in the Congress. If they don't do what you want, then fire them in 2010!!! Oh! AND FIRE OBAMA IN 2012!!! Let's put a God annointed, reighteous candidate in office who is going to return America to one nation under God.

Thanks to Obama, China owns our country. With what we owe them, we'll be lucky if they don't try to take a chunk of our country for themselves. Not much is being manufactured in the US anymore, and they're trying to take away our right to grow our own food. How can we get back to calling our own shots?
ok, sorry……can't go with this one……It's not O's fault that China owns this country. This started a LOOOOOOONG time ago. We own a manufacturing company and must outsource to China because it is WAY cheaper. We could not survive it we didn't. We do manufacture the same product here and it is far superior to what we can get produced in China, but it is also much more expensive. So basically, we have a high-end product (produced in USA) and a low-end product (from China) . What product do you think America buy? And why is it more expensive to manufacture in the U.S.? Well, unions, for one, and let's see….how many govt. agencies must we satisfy regulations for that increase costs?!?! You couldn't imagine! It does come down to our government, but this was long before O.
I do agree that the Unions started the problem, and they were and are too greedy.

I agree, but just become Big O didn't start the fire, doesn't mean he's not pouring fuel on it.
Rhino,
Has it ever occurred to you that the reason your USA product is superior is BECAUSE of those regulations tht increase costs. BTW, you don't HAVE TO outsource to China, you CHOOSE to in order to have a bigger profit margin. If you were willing to settle for a smaller profit, you could manufacture all your products here. You just chose to be greedy and took the easy way out.
rhinogirls3, you own a manufacturing company, do you think the corporate gains tax needs to go, for at least five years?
Not entirely Obama's fault. C'mon, let's be honest.
Yes, let's be honest. The war mongers, Rove, Cheney and Bush were thrilled to death to borrow 10 trillion from China so they could play war. Now, you are blaming the whole debt on Obama for adding another 1 trillion to provide what was demanded by the American People in the last election? Oh, yeah, he was supposed to act like Clinton, wipe out the republican's debt, set up a surplus and let the republican take over and run up another debt. Well, he's not that dumb. That's why you guys hate him so much. He ain't as dumb as you hoped!
Obama didn't sell us out to China. He has accelerated the sale though. Ironically the American public is largely to blame for supporting a Communist regime by buying Chinese imports on a grand scale for so long. If China did not rely on sub-human labor costs they could not compete globally. Our own unions reached further than they were worth, but we did this to ourselves through the apathy of electing crooks and the support of Chinese imports that allowed us all to save money as we turned a blind eye to the production means of these imports. Where were our unions in condemning the Chinese government for the substandard living conditions and wages of the Chinese population? Where were they in rallying around buying American made goods as a defense against the exploitation of Chinese foreign workers at the hands of an oppressive government? Oh, wait…that would be hypocritical since mass unionization would essentially put us on the road to Communism. Seems like a vicious cycle.
Ditto
Troll alert!!! (Kontora is an antagonist) to feed is to grow. Stick to the real 912er's. Progress can only be made with them. Don't get distracted with his insincere discussions.
If we want to bring our businesses back to the US, Congress needs to lift the capital gains tax!

Look at Nike, Adidas and more. They're some of the best imported products for America.
Kon…you kinda have a point, but as I stated in another post, American's cannot manufacture things at as low a cost as china because of unions and our own govt. interference (both drive up costs) and the fact that the Chinese govt. subsidizes everything! Nice try, but we simply need LESS GOVT!!!!
We need the lean constitutional republic, not just less government. Praise God for the founders.
Stupid mistake. I wonder why Union leadership is not treated as the lage corporations that they in fact really are? This isn't about protecting workers – it's about growing membership, revenue and power.
And they have the people's best interests in whom they represent? I don't believe it.
That's greed. Greed is sin, and it causes killing, stealing, and destruction.
That is really funny! I never thought Unions could do that.
A few points to think about.
1) There probobly is nowhere in the US where hard hats are made.
2) I would love to read the propagana booklets they where handing out, that would be good for a laugh or two.
3) There is probobly NO chance that average citizens could go around the halls of congress handing out booklets "why Unions Are the scurge of our country" or something to that effect.
4) I'm sure the "staffer" bought the hats from the cheapest source which would not be union made.
and finally
5) The heads on capital hill probobly aren't worth protecting anyway.
China makes the best affordable products. A lot of U.S. companies outsource jobs there.
actually america has for a long time made the best products and the only reason anyone out sources jobs there is the ability to pay next to nothing and not get taxed through the roof
China makes affordable products – not the best ones. Our companies have outsourced to drive down costs so that they can maintain market share – even if the products they sell are made elsewhere.
The question you have to ask yourself is why did they have to do this in the first place.
I think I understand the point you are all making here. True most companies in America outsource for many reasons. While we all disagree with the premise of outsourcing the reasons behind what drives a company to do it must be rectified first. a. Labor costs – Unions like them or not have driven up the cost of labor. b. taxation issues. c. material costs. Yes, we need less government intervention and restrictions. As we all can see Gov't doesn't bring industry back to America. We need to become more marketable as a nation and start looking at our Corporate taxes here and abroad and adjust them to be more competative.
The second question you should ask youself is it good for America in the long run?
I normally don't feed trolls, I try to expose them to daylight to destroy them. The reasons industry has left the U.S.:
1. Labor costs. The Unions forcing wages higher then really needed and not willing to give to aid the company, look at GMC and Chrysler.
2.Regulations, epa, osha, civil law suits
3.Taxes,Taxes, Taxes, Taxes.
At one time America made some damn good tennis shoes, PF Flyers and Keds.
Hard to compete with slave labor.
Hey, don't feed him teach him to fish!
Then he can feed himself and other trolls for the rest of their lives!
Yeah, I think it's time to drop the capital gains tax, for at least five years. Our economy would benefit more from us dropping it, more so than the government benefits from the revenue they get from it. I've heard multiple experts suggesting that, and one of my friends that's a business exec says that it'd bring a lot of corporate activity, and various other aspects of business, back home.
I wasn't around for PF flyers, but I've heard that they were very publicised, and a good shoe.
Yeah, the companies you mention outsource because the unions and Gov'nt drove them there ! !
Yes, there's that and there's labor at about $1.80 a day.
I guess you could almost call it free labor, that too is a pretty good incentive.
Plus no lawsuits there.
How can American workers compete with that?
Obama to throw out first pitch all star game time to get 50,000 not a natural born citzen shirts made
"Bring it home to the USA" or something very similar was the corporate directive when Sam Walton was alive. Now that he is gone pricing in on the fast track for a race to the bottom. Looks like the union people now buy into the new credo "save money, live better".
UPDATE: The hats were from the D.C. Building Trades Council one of the local unions from D.C. part of the AFL-CIO. Spokesman Eddie Vale tells Shenan, "Obviously our policy is to only use union vendors and it was a mistake by a new staffer who ordered them and unfortunately wasn't caught before they went out."
Yeah, right!! This is one of a long line of ways to pay China back the money owed!! B.O. was making a showing of "Good Faith" to China. If the Government buy's from China something that could be made in America, by Americans, he is serious. This should be a slap in the face for all Americans, especially the 10% out of work!!
Leave it up to some stupid union to hand out helmets from China. Who would have seen this one coming..
did they come from walmart?
Could be
Wal-Mart takes so much crap for buying items made in China, but EVERY store does it, b/c that's what the American people want — junk for cheap. But even when looking for quality clothing at Macy's, for example, item after item had a "Made in China" tag in it, with anything BUT a cheap price tag on it. I have been trying for the last two years to avoid buying ANYTHING made in China. I can say that I spend a lot less at the store. Some stores, like the popular dollar stores, I don't even go into. They might as well be called the "Everything from China" stores. It isn't that Wal-mart needs defending, but I wish the problem were only that small. It's a HUGE, HUGE problem, and it really starts with people being greedy and wanting lots of stuff and not wanting to pay for quality.
Yes, a lot of these "fires" were started long before our time. Afew of them as early as 1913, but I think a lot of big government policies have poured fuel out since then.
I had posted a reply, well crafted, witty, erudite and lucid – but it was moderated out! lol
A truly free and unfettered market, with a bearable (not the 2nd highest in the world) corporate tax rate, reasonable regulation (consumers walk away from bad or unsafe products), and labor that is willing to earn a wage commensurate with the work performed/profit earned.
What am I thinking? Utopia???
You always ran faster with PF Flyers. Frankly I think capital gain tax should be dropped to a couple of points below Irelands.
I would abolish all personal income and corporate income taxes and simply go with a 20% national sales tax on all new-made goods sold at retail level – that would the equivilent of strapping a RATO unit on the economy.
