something i find quite disturbing:
is this ship a decoy? if it is… would it be used to make "us" look stupid when we finally board it? is there really something else in another ship that is using this ship as cover?
my other concern, is this ship "booby-trapped"….. is this ship triggered to go off if an when we do something when they "test" their rockets on or around July 4th? is this ship ready to blow when our guys finally board it?

I have read through the posts, and tried to answer some, but it is a thread, is can't we do something. BH0, is not going to talk tough, like we all want, face it until the polls tell him he should, he won't. Now the ship, currently under sail, shadowed by the McCain, and most likely a sub or 2, and of course aircraft, it ain't going no where. We can not board it without permission, if we do its an act of war, which could call Kim's bluff, but remember, if it isn't a bluff, people are going to die.Frankly I feel it is a bluff. We can't blow the ship out of the water, that would be as bad as Hamas shooting rockets into Isreal. It is unarmed and the crew are just seamen, doing a job. The world knows that the U.S. has the finest mlitary in the world, and they are alert, Kim knows this, and he knows damn well that if he fires a missile towards HI, and it comes any where near it or our allies, he will be toast, his generals knows this, his military knows this and most of all the people know this.

S Korea has a damn go military, we have the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines there, as well as ships off the coast, we fought there once, we can do it again, this time we are better prepared. Now as far a threat, I feel it well contained, BUT we need BH0 to stand up and tell Kim that if he does provoke, then "his @ss is grass, and we're the lawn mower".
What about a conservative infiltrator to edit the teleprompter to read what we want him to read, and saying what we want him to say???
God, if it was that easy. But, we need a leader who really cares about America, frankly we don't have that either in the WH or congress. We have to put pressure on congress to stop this destruction.

I was living in Sydney, Australia when Reagan went calling on Quadafi. The national news media there was very supportive of the action and extremely proud of Reagan and the USA. The background behind the reporter that night was a photo of Reagan and an F16. This guy almost teared up talking about and praising the courage of America.
I commented to my wife then that I bet Reagan is not fairing so well at home with the US media.
Can't help but wonder what the general opinion of Obama and his "New America" is in Aussie now.

The longer that this ship moves the greater the threat will become. I don't know what our Navy is thinking. They could have blown this ship out of the water. I guess we all know who to blame for this ship still floating along. What good is it to follow this ship and do nothing about it. It is a waste of fuel and manpower. I guess it's ok to waste when BHO does it but if we did it there would be hell to pay.
How is this ship a threat? It is a cargo ship. Yes it may be carrying weapons, but do you want to blow it out of the water, maybe cost the crew their lives, just because their leader is a nut job. Don't get me wrong, if it comes to having to do it, go for it, but until you either have pulled the trigger on another human or seen what can be done to human beings with a bomb, don't be so eager to do it. Quote an old saying, "Been there, Done that." Would I do it again, IN A HEARTBEAT, if I have to, but till you have it is easy to talk about it.

It could be a ploy, although I doubt it but if we were to blow up an inocent ship and crew we would be no better then them and it sure as eck would not do us any good in the eyes of the world. The question that should be asked is why have we not boarded it to verify it's cargo. If the cargo turns out to be what we suspect then remove the crew and sink it after documenting the proof.

There are many here who have not been on that side Old Marine. So many want to use the heavy hand and obliterate the target. I did not participate in Vietnam – but I do know what napalm smells like. Seems to me the lack of military experience shows brightly in this issue – none of us wanted to fight, we did what we needed to do in order to survive. Enough said.

I haven't read a lot of the response but does anybody else think that maybe there is NOTHING in this ship? That Kimmy is just testing to see how far he can push the U.S. and the U.N.?
I think it could be a shell game, "watch this" while I'm really "doing that".!! There needs to be good intelligence on it, and there may be, and our forces are being very smart about it. I would choose the latter.
That's why BHO needs to call his bluff to see what is really there. Pretty simple and straight forward approach if you ask me.
I think that we have some very sophiscated and sensitive equipment that would easily detect fissle (radio active) material. We're trailing this ship for a reason, we might not do a damn thing about it, but we're trailing it for a reason.

Short of sending in a Stealth to bomb the launch areas, a SEAL or Force Recon to take out Kim, just what would you suggest the U.S. do? Our forces are on alert, N korea is being watched more closely then the last episode of American Idol. Military wise we are ready. And the world knows that. We can't do any more, except….BH0 standing up and flatly telling Kim, that if any launch towards HI, and we will retailate. BUT that won't happen untill the polls tell him he should. REMEMBER…no matter how weak BH0 looks, the world knows we have the fiest,most able military in the world.
Does anyone remember what happened to Libya when their despot dictator tried this kind of taunting and sabre rattling? I do. We sent in waves of jets to take care of the problem. It worked. Gee, I remember a bunch of Dems yelling about a country and its leader having weapons that could in the wrong hands could attack America and those same Dems wanted to get that leader out. They have made direct threats to the United States. If this happened under Reagan, we would have already bombed Pyongyang, and made it clear WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THUGGERY. They are pointing a missle at HAWAII! What kind of incompetence is this? We won't show our words have any meaning if we just keep spouting nonsense. The American soldiers in South Korea should be dispatched to Panmunjom, and ready to flood into NK. Thuggery and manipulation should not be tolerated from these sycophants any longer.

North Korea has threatened the US with an ICBM. Period. We should allowed under international law to inspect that ship without ramifications. BH0 will not act until NK carries out that threat. BH0 does not believe in peace through strength. He believes in appeasement thru weak-tea chit-chat.

Problem, we only have permission to "request permission to board the ship", thanks to the U.N. and of course BH0 and his merry band, didn't stand up to them. If we were to stop and board in internatinal waters, it would be an act of war. Both are flagged ships and we know BH0 would never allow that. NOW, if we all pray real hard, maybe a heavy fog bank would move into the area, and if the power went out on the McCain and it drifted to close and bumped into the frieghter and punch a hole in the freighter, then we would have to board them to help, and if we stumbled into weapons, well so be it. One can dream. Frankly, call me crazy, but I don't think there is any weapons on board, this just does not smell right. Something doesn't add up.
You're right about something not adding up. I do like you 'foggy' thought, there. BH0 will never stand up to the UN, they are a bunch of bleeding heart libs, and all cut from the same foreign cloth. If Iran or NK openly attacks any other country, the first thing the attacked will do is dial 1-800-help-us-USA. Then BH0 can do a big speech encouraging all of us to use restraint and drink tea and eat crumpets.
I know that we have equipment that can detect nuke material. They use them at ports. I'm sure with a little American knowhow we could make one of these things small enough to be put on an aircraft or ship and check this boat out. If it has nuke material onboard, we tell the crew that we are going to sink their vessel, we could even evacuate it first and then sink the damn thing. Now of course NK would throw a fit and possibly want to go to war, but if they are in violation of UN sanctions (a joke yes, but only if left uninforced) we would have the right to enforce the law and make this problem go away. That would tell the world two things. The UN is a joke, and we will enforce the laws sense they will not. I for one am tired of these tyrants pushing us around. I learned as a little kid that when a bully starts messing with you, you fight him. Kick his butt and he'll leave you alone to find another victim. We are going to have to fight this regime sooner or later and we all know that. Lets get 'er done.

I believe Obama is trying to look like he's "doing something" about lil' Kimmy and North Korea's nuke/missile program. I say "trying to look like" because with Obama, intentions and looking good are much more important that ACTUALLY doing something. He, like Clinton, is poll driven in some areas and I think he sees that he is slipping in the polls and wants to boost his image with the sheeple. Just a thought!
I don't know about you all…………… but I think bho's little, no knowing, lack of foreign policy, pea brain is locked up. He truly does not know what to do or how to react to all these foreign policy nightmares happening all at all once. A "Community Organizer" does not a world leader make !!!

This little chess game has a ways to go before it plays out. I wonder what the administration will do when the game is over. I doubt they will know until they are pushed into acting. I see us being very reactionary rather than proactive going forward. I hope the Obama administration is on the ball with this one because a lot of lives are on the line. I am not too impressed with anything I've seen so far from this administration nor am I with our nation's handling of the N. Korean problem in the past. Our continued spending is making this situation so much harder than it has to be. Our global position is waning fast, and I don't see anything on the horizon to halt it.

What interests me is how Obama is going to blame this missile technology proliferation by the North Koreans on George Bush and Dick Cheney? Will he claim if Bush/Cheney weren't so mean….then the North Korean government wouldn't be gettin' all rowdy and such with these nuclear tipped missile shenanigans! Because the North Korean government generally treats people with respect and care. And they cannot stand by and do nothing while the United States government spreads its oppressive word around the world. Right?
We as Americans have a simple choice to make. Stop the ship and seize the missile hardware and or technology. Or allow the missile technology to go through to another country that would like to destroy the United States.
In my humble opinion, the United States should forcibly board the ship, give the crew the chance to evacuate the ship then send it down to sleep with the fishes ala John Gotti.

I wish the current Administration would "%$^& or get off the pot". Either act tough and follow through or just cave in and stop posturing. This middle of the road stuff is only going to make the US look weak and our adversaries will take full advantage of it.

North Korea Ship Suspected of Holding Arms Passes China
A North Korean ship suspected of carrying illicit weapons cruised through waters off Shanghai on Tuesday en route to Myanmar, a news report said, as regional military officials and a U.S. destroyer kept a close eye on the vessel.
Washington's top military commander in South Korea, meanwhile, warned that the communist regime is bolstering its guerrilla warfare capacity.
Gen. Walter Sharp, who commands the 28,500 U.S. troops positioned in South Korea, said the North could employ roadside bombs and other guerrilla tactics if fighting breaks out again on the Korean peninsula. The two Koreas technically remain at war because their three-year conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, in 1953.

The intimidation factor from the U.S. Navy isn't anywhere as scary as the threat of displeasing their own leader back in North Korea. The North Korean government is brutal and the men on that North Korean ship know that. I for one haven't got a clue why we are following that ship. What proof do we have that there is any nuclear material on board?
I saw a picture of this ship in a news clip the other day. You could poke your finger through the hull it was so rusted.
