Every time the arrogant "UP-Chuck Schumer" opens his mouth I want to gag. Arrogance, smugness, elitist are but a few of the nice words I use to describe this moron. He and Stinky turn my stomach. Congress needs to be given the "bums rush" right out of office.

  2. kckshrugged says:

Of course she is virtually filibuster proof, they already have 59 democrats and only 40 republicans in congress. All it will take is for the white people in congress to reach a worse decision than the minorities in congress and voila you have a new racist judge on the Supreme Court.

  3. dagmastr says:

The same guy that during the Alito hearings Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) characterized Senator Schumer's questioning as of the "When did you stop beating your wife?" style and remarked that if Senator Schumer can mention in-laws, he can mention a wife.
Who could forget the heavy drinking Ted Kennedy saying "Mr. ALI' – OOTO" trying to mock his name. I bet you he's got his names straight now. Even with a brain tumor and will not make any mistakes when he addresses Ms. Sotomayor when her hearing's start.

  4. Unfortunately he's right, if Republicans in the Senate are gonna go wimpy on this. I agree with other Republicans that we shouldn't get involved in the racial component of this, but that doesn't mean give up. For once the Republicans in the Senate need to be united in opposition to this appointment. If the Republicans in the Senate have a backbone at all they'd come together against Sonia Sotomayor, but I think they threw their backbones in the trash a while ago. Senate Republicans, are you listening?…simply put NO.

  5. fande3rls says:

If she or Obama is to be stopped it has to come from US calling our senators ,to stop her and him even dems will listen if enough calls are made .

  6. amendment1 says:

All we need now is A Pelosi, Dodd, Kennedy and Barney endorsement and maybe her nomination will go down the toilet.

  7. goldnhorde says:

    6) Soooooo … we come to this point. we are basically being told "this is what is going to happen, so sit down, shut up, and take it". and we know we are lying when we say her record is more important than some of the things she has said, because a lot of the "things she has said" were things she had said with a robe on and from behind her bench with a gavel.

There is the story in english

  8. goldnhorde says:

    2) Soooooooo … immediately we start getting all thsi media talking about a large handful of "candidates in the running". Huge amounts of people become more and more pissed off about reverse racism and someone like her becoming a "Justice"

    3) Sooooo … we get told how "everyone" wants a hispanic woman in the court. that lasts for about a day as all americans e mail and phone each other … nto finding anyone who gives a crap about the new justices sex or race. pretty much just wanting a great judge who will represent the common american, something this candidate has proven she is completely incapable of.

    • goldnhorde says:

      4) Sooooooooo … immediately we start getting this whole background "bad news bears", "rags to riches" story about her, which i have to say is a whole lot more vague, like Obama's background, than i would ver give people credit for. obviously i was not alone, people continue to question her crednetials even in her current postion or as a judge at all, much less a Justice.

      5) Sooooooooo …. Robert Gibbs played the racism card again, saying it is mean to call her a racist, caompring it to being in the KKK ….. because you know …. no one else is racist but white people in the kkk. The implication is that if you don't back her … YOU are obviously a racist. The Racism card played to death in the past year … it's bounces off the collective public's hide. Gibbs once again looks like a wank … and brinigng up racisim only makes us all remember how racist

  9. I see Senator Schumer as an expert on one thing, being a career politician living off of the ignorance of his constituency. I hope he gets his walking papers soon.

  10. goldnhorde says:

LET'S DO THSI TIME LINE IN PLAIN ENGLISH

    1) Stouter steps down. immediately, everybody and their mother knows that OBama is going to pick this ultra-progressive racist with a rap sheet of offenses as long as anyone else's, and a huge racist case about to go to the highest court.

If you had a questionable call in baseball and you picked 9 umpires to look at the rule book to come up with a decision,I'd say about 95% of the time the vote would be 9-0 one way or the other……Yet when we get the supposed 9 most brilliant minds looking at the constitution to solve an issue, the vote is usually 5-4…….The reason there is a divided result is because some of the justices think they are smarter than the constitution and the result they come up with is obviously,in their mind a better result than the founding fathers intended…..This Sotomayor nomination is just another example of one side wanting to stack the deck in their favor to get the results to change America………..on a related topic, there were some lawyers on TV last night arguing that gay marriage was a constitutional right……I find it odd that that this so called constitutional right did not exist when the people who wrote the constitution were alive……..If it were a known right you would have thought there would have been atleast 1 gay marriage performed back at that time in history…..just curious….maybe someone can answer that for me.

  12. beenfield says:

Sotomayor can't be questioned she is a minority. Remember Clarence Thomas, or Byork or Roberts? The left excoriated these men and now are scared to death to question a woman who is not qualified but happens to be a minority. I know there are many minorities out there who are qualified and worthy of this position and they too are wondering why this woman who votes not on law but on her idea of law should get this lifetime appointment while she says one race, one gender is better than another. If people began to vote on experience and ability and not race, we would'nt be in this mess now.!

  13. CC76 says:

Chuck Schumer, like all other politician's, needs to be voted out of office. Completely reboot the system. As for Sotomayor, he record speak's for it's self and disqualifies her from the highest court. Everyone please remember that this is a lifetime appointment. Once she's in, she's in for the rest of her life. That's scary. The republican's need to come out her with real, tough questions and viable information, not race related. Once "her compelling story" is out in the public, everyone should see who she really is. Well, everyone except those still drinking the kool-aid.

  14. beenfield says:

NY voted in a carpet bagger like Hilliary, they love Chuckie!

  15. beenfield says:

There is nothing White about Obama, his grandmother , who raised him was dying and he did'nt take any time for her. I think he did go to her funeral when he found time. If the white men Sotomayor refered to had character or backbone she would never be approved. However the Dems are yes men and the Republicans can't take the chance of being called racists, after all if you are white you are naturally racist. Not so for Sotomayor whose race gives her the ability to judge differently. She won't follow constitutional law she will judge on her upbringing. Much as she did the white firefighters who unfortunately did'nt help any miniorites study for the test for advancement that only one minority passed , thus the test was thrown out and the men who worked were judged by Sotomayor as ineligible. Oh yes, she should be a judge!

  16. She should be opposed soley on her belief that the bench is a place to make policy. It is clearly not, she would be lying if she took the oath that is required to be a judge.
    Schumer doesn't always reflect reality.

  17. poorboy says:

Hey Whithouse are you listening? We the people do not want her on our supreme court. What can you hear me now, I said no, we do not want her on our supreme court. Ok, I'll try this one more time hey stupid I said no! We do not want her on our SUPREME court DID YOU HEAR ME THAT TIME? What a waste of breath, there is no one home and I'm talking brain power.

I have had it with this administration! They are staging right before our very eyes a war within our own Country against each other over race and class warfare! We need to stop fighting each other and start fighting our real enemies, North Korea, Nancy Pelosi, Iran, Chuck Schumer and of course the great and wonderful BO!

    • AmandaBland says:

Everyone is guilty of B.O. at times, no?

I hope it doesn't come to a civil war…but liberals are foolish to think they can oppress and opine without real consequences from real people that don't give a rats arse about their worldview–I care about my children and their future. I'm saving to buy a gun, maybe two.

    • CULATR2 says:

Get ready to bend over. The liberals have stolen the government by appealing to rich liberals who won't get hurt much by socialism, and to the lower 30% of America that hates successful people and wants what they have for nothing. The way things are going, it will become impossible to make any money with salary, business profits or interest. You will have it all taxed away. Capital gains will be the only way to really make money. When the real estate market bottoms, get into it. Incremental tax rates will rise to over 52%. When you add payroll tax, state and local tax to it the total tax rate could exceed 70% on incremental ordinary income. Buy property once it bottoms and stop working for other people or in your own non real estate business.

    • CULATR2 says:

Welcome to the United States of people that hate successful people and took all their money and then ran out of it and created a nation of mediocrity and deadness of spirit.

  19. Carolecares2 says:

Remember Obama claims he is half white….why isn't he codoling white americans? Every other race is being covered! Where is his family anyway? I'd like to know what their views are on Obama and his race warfare! Sotomayor is one of Obama's smoke screens. You should be ashamed of yourself Mr. President!

  20. bamaboy says:

Obama is a disgrace to this country and the trash he has working with him.He did not carry Alabama and never will but somebody sure did.I wish we could pull out of the union again we have our rights and will fight for them.I hope some of you northern folks join in.When election time comes around we can all be friends and out vote that trash next time for God and Country. There is strength in numbers we can do it together he is one man he works for us.We can say hell no we are not going to take his crap!!!!

The behavior of Schumer and many other politicians (Pelosi is a good examples) leaves me to wonder… what kind of drugs is he taking???

  22. RaptureAlert says:

If Chuck Schumer says so, it HAS to be true, right?

  23. Bcoultry says:

The timing of these things. it's a damned game. Every time we get worked up over something our government is doing another thing is thrown at us and it takes our attention away from the first and weakens our fight.

  24. Bcoultry says:

"Compelling life story" has officially become a euphemism for "PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE don't look into her views and judicial background"

      SERIOUSLY!

The media is so oooey goooey it makes me literally sick. If only Katie Couric was within vomit-shot…

I don't care if Judge Sotomayor was the first alien to land on planet earth, and brings with her the cure for cancer and immigration policies—her own comments and philosophy are damning. Where is the ACLU?

    • Carolecares2 says:

class warfare…now race warfare!! What next will Obama hit us with?

  25. The real opportunities to substantively oppose Sotomayor are the facts sitting in the Ricci case. If the Senate hearings can be scheduled and not rushed through as Obama wished; her shortcomings in logic will be exposed on the merits. The ruling and it's supporting and dissenting comments will be very useful and likewise the hearings themselves can be used effectively to expose the logic that may end up on the bench.

Conservatives do not gain public support if we provide the left with ANY quotes of thoughts that let them run off at the mouth….."See they're just a bunch of bigots", "they don't understand how it feels to be a minority", yadah, yadah, yadah.

We need to get smart and craft our opposition in the manner that Dick Cheney explained the enhanced interrogation techniques. Just facts, show cause and effect, no names, no labels, just common sense. Obama's explanations and logic where so weak in the head to head comparison.

I know that trying to use common sense is not always successful, but look at another teaching method……the use of the parable. Sunday school was there for a reason; teach & understand the concepts before trying to dive into the King James version of the Bible.

Let's break it down, oppose it on the merits and then we reduce the potential of losing the votes of Hispanic voters. An informed voter is an informed voter, that's what we're after.

Ever notice the abortion question does not come up when a democratic nominee is selected?

  27. CULATR2 says:

Democrats will vote party line. Obama's wishes are party line. They vote that way because they want to be looked upon favorably by everybody else for committee appointments, quid pro quo on bills they want passed and to be able to look like they are important to voters in order to perpetuate their stay in office. Say hello to the new Supreme Court Judge. Chucky, though I don't agree with his politics, is right.

Democrats will vote party line. Obama's wishes are party line. They vote that way because they want to be looked upon favorable by everybody else for committee appointments, committee leadership positions, and get quid pro quo for the bills they want passed. They do not vote their conscience or what they think is right or logical for the most part. There are a few that do, but the vast minority. This is the system of government we now have, and it has been exacerbated by the takeover of the executive branch, house and senate by socialist democrats who will follow Obama's wishes to the letter or will pay for it later. The republic has been neutered as we no longer have real representation. When you elect a Democrat, you are electing an Obama clone. Before, when you elected a Republican, you were electing a Bush clone. Heck, they even admitted it.

Hello socialism. They only problem, Mr. smart guy Obama, is you will eventually run out of the other guy's money and will be left with an entire population with no incentive left to do anything out of the ordinary.

  30. CarolEWash says:

When will NY get rid of Chucky, He is an embarassment. can anyone say OUT OF TOUCH!

  31. Rogers_Sense says:

Well since El Presidente Obama hand picked her she is thereby annointed and blessed and must not be questioned! What a Crock oh we must not be particizen let this one go through easy WHAT a double Crock!
WE NEED TO VOTE ALL THESE BUMS AND I SAID IT AND I MEAN IT BUMS…B*U*M*S!! OUT OF OFFICE THEY ARE RUNNING THE COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND AND DONT SEEM TO CARE WHAT LITTLE PEOPLE THEY RUN OVER. A POX ON THEM AND THEIR HOUSES!

  32. BillStrong says:

Schumer also said our southern border is secure , he like most politicians are compulsive liar's .

Schumer is a schmuck. He's also one of my state's senators, and an embarrassment. Schumers gotta go, and i'll happily vote against him.

      • maxmillun says:

Yes, then he had the nerve to send me a reply that my wife and I were wrong about the stimulus being loaded with Pork. He actually said that the democrats had removed over $100 million from the orginal version. $450,000,000,000 is ok as long as they removed $100,000,000 per Chucky "The Change" Schumer!

  33. revll09 says:

    Democrats, you've been duped!!!!

Obama did NOT care to know if Sotomayor was Pro-Life or not, he just wants the Latinos' vote.

Obama is not a ideologue, just another opportunistic power-grabber.

    • CULATR2 says:

The only think congressmen and senators care about, save a few, is keeping in office. The way you keep in office is to vote party line with Obama. That gets you on important committees, chairing committees, and quid pro quo votes for important bills that YOU want passed. It also impresses your voters that you are on important committees so they keep voting you in office because they are unaware of how you really vote and actually believe what you SAY. Democrats could care less if it were the devil himself up for judge. Just so long as they are voting party line and can keep their positions. Republicans would be no better. The system is corrupt.

  34. fastfacts says:

Practically Filibuster proof. Dems have almost 60 and some Republican's are sympathetic to the whole race argument. The should be her fight to make policy. Check out some of the headlines about here on: http://www.americanparchment.com/library/sotomayo...

  35. Zymogene says:

She's fillibuster proof because of her record. Well, when you look at her record, there's plenty there to show her rulings aren't much different than her words. Fine, just look at her rulings and she's still a problem.

  36. Soulsamurai says:

For that reason alone she should be filibustered. The libs are becoming more and more arrogant and confident. If we do not check them, nothing will stop this madness. The absolute best thing we can do right now is give Obama some reasons to pause, to hesitate and lose some of his supreme confidence. We have to start making these people feel uncomfortable and uncertain, and do it NOW, before they get to heaqlth care , card check, carbon & VAT taxes, guns, and free speech. C'mon people call your Senators and Congressmen.

    it's true!

All I can say is that when it comes to my freedoms…no judge can take it away, or deem my perspective to be inferior to anyone but God. So in that way, let him nominate anyone he wants to—I'll just buy more guns :)

    Holla!

  38. LiveandLearn says:

I read somewhere, please correct me if I'm wrong, that she was one of the judges who dismissed the New Haven Firefighters case. No way in hell do I want her near the Supreme Court.

  39. nekodachi says:

Well, clearly Chuck Schumer knows better than we of "the chattering classes."

When is this idiot up for re-election? I want to see him brought down by the very "chattering classes" he feels so much contempt for.

Chuch Shummer is the head of the democratic socialist movement against america .Can anyone find a statement by Chuck Shummer that is positve about america .This man is pure socialist that who is bent on americas failure .Chuck Schummer is against any and all things to improve american citizens lives.Chuck Schummer is responsible for the millions of illegal aliens that have invaded new York .He is also responsible for the corruption of fannie and freddie mac and the wall street collaspe.
The only thing chuck schummer champions is hate ,racism and the socialist agenda. He is part of the political problem we have in our goverment .He survives in New York because he supports welfare and social programs and health care that cost us taxpayers billions travel through his area of new york he has turned towns into slums .To ride through them you think you are in a forgein country . To take our country back we have get this incompetent crooked politician out of washington.

Well if Chucky said shes in and there is nothing I can do, I guess I am going to pick up m marbles and go home. NOT.

  43. The senators have one shot at this. If they vote wrong we the people need to vote right in the next election. We also need to let our senators how we intend to vote NOW.

  44. RockyMtn1776 says:

Since Sotomayer is a member of La Raza, a group indenical to the PLO, wouldn't this make her a terrorist also?

  45. MikeinIdaho says:

And the Republicans wonder why they are fading into the background so fast. They will not oppose her in any substantive way because deep down they are libs just like the Dems. We Conservatives have very little true representation in either the House or the Senate. This country is fading fast and I'm sorry I have to watch it first hand. Here's hoping the revolution comes soon. Id rather die on my feet than live on my knees. (Not sure who said that, but it's the way I feel.)

  46. triper57 says:

Chuck Schumer is a master of the obvious. There aren't enough true conservatives in the Senate to mount an attempt to filibuster of her nomination. But we can still make our views against her nomination known. We have every right to express our views. The progressive left wants us to shut up and be quiet so as not to make those uninformed citizens aware of the unsuitability of their nominee. To give the appearance of unanimous approval. If our Senators don't take a stand against her, and make the progressives take responsibility for her position, when things start to go bad we are stuck with the decision as ours. Its like Pelosi not expressing her opposition to waterboarding when she knew it was being used – Now it can be claimed she approved through her inaction.

  47. SSGMACSLADY says:

MY DEAR FELLOW NEW YORKERS VOTE THIS MORON OUT IN THE NEXT ELECTION PLEASE!!!!!

  48. There are two things which I wish to make a point on. The first is that we need to oppose this nomination as much as we can. Through her personal statements and her actions we know this woman is unfit for the Supreme Court. The sad thing is that because of how few Republicans there are, this nomination is almost a certainty. The only good thing I can saw about this is that she is replacing a very liberal judge, so the court is not fundamentally changed.

The second thing is how badly the media is falling itself over trying to tell us how awesome she is. If I hear "such an inspiring story" one more time my head will explode. What is annoying is that the stories of Estrada, Gonzales, and Thomas were all either just as inspiring or even more so, yet the press was more concerned about qualifications and their past judgements. I guess if you have an inspiring story only if you are a liberal. If you are a conservative you abviosuly have problems.

    • Shadrach says:

The liberal press takes the liberal view and they play it, and replay it until they program as many young minds as they possibly can. They know they cannot change most of the older peoples minds, we're kinda "set" in our ways, you know? So, they start from the bottom up and they prey on the impressionable young who are still trying to find their way in life, and it's paying off with dividends!! Look at who voted for B.O. !!! Now they will tell her "inspiring story" over and over until her "mistakes" are overlooked by the younger generation as a whole, and our court system will continue to degrade. And they will work on our constitution, slowly but surely, in the same fashion.

  49. nycoach says:

Folks, as is the case with global warming, the debate is over. Nothing to see here. Move along…Tax problems for cabinet members? No worries. move along…Guantanamo? Not as bad an idea as we said for 4 years…Move along…Average household in un-surmountable debt thanks to the "stimulus" bill? It's all good. move along….

  50. Kristinb5 says:

  51. RobNRick says:

Chuck needs to keep his smug, snide little comments he always makes about everything to himself. He gets under my skin. He and alot of the left act as if they are better than anyone else. They have crazy ideas and those crazy looney ideas HURT the country. Reminds me of slimy worms the lot of them. They badgered Alito, Thomas and Roberts and NOW they want things to be a cake walk for this woman? Sorry Chuckie..

  52. TODIEFOR says:

Come 2010, any Republican with the ball's to stand up to this crap, has my vote, the one's that let her walk right in and sit down, well thay can kissoff !!!!!!!

  53. knutjb says:

Obama has picked someone who will do his far left bidding because it is best for the little people. Chucky is the Cheer leader to put in his 2 cents worth, which isn't worth much considering all Obama has printed. He is following FDR liberalism, progressive-ism, what have you. They must have a quick resolution before the supreme court contradicts her on the Fire fighter suit. They can't afford any contradiction to their remaking of america.

  54. mwb1951 says:

What else is a very, very partisan New York Democrat going to say? He has to say that Sotomayer is filibuster proof. No one is truly filibuster proof. She is a racist and I'm emailing our senators to get them to vote against her. Won't happen but I'll tell them. If enough of us tell our Senators, a ground swell can occur. If not this nominee, the next one.

  55. sajoUno says:

    9) SOTOMAYOR: PRO-ABORTION-SUPPORTS ROE V. WADE

Although she ruled to uphold the longstanding "Mexico City Policy" which had limited funds for abortions performed overseas (until President Obama struck down that policy, now fully funding abortions overseas with our taxes), Sotomayor stands squarely in the camp of supporting and upholding the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized child killing across America and cost 50,000,000 children their lives.

Furthermore, Rev. Rob Schenck of The National Clergy Council now reports that Sotomayor was or is an active board member of a group called the "Childbirth Connection" that advocates for "reproductive rights of women," which is generally a code word for abortion on demand, including partial birth abortion, which Sotomayor has never publicly opposed.

  56. Chuckles is a dope…I wonder how he's doing with his cell phone legislation.
Hey Chuckie Cheese do you hear us now??? You're a dope and New Yorkers need to wake up!!!!

BTW any of you living in NJ need to get out the vote for Lonigan on Tuesday. I wrote his Campaign Manager to ask one question and he responded immediately. He stated Lonigan is an NRA life member and likes PA's CCW law. He is pro-life too. I'm not promoting one party over the other, but he's all we got right now. So get out and vote!!!!!

"….. 6. A lot of Americans know this. They appreciate our irreverence. They enjoy our frank criticisms of all the myriad areas where Obama is getting it so badly wrong – everything from his disastrous cap and trade measures, to his brutal treatment of Chrysler dealerships which didn't support him, to his pork barrelling, to his failure to do anything that looks remotely like rescuing the US economy. That's why they come to read us online: because they can and there's nothing you can do to stop them"

too bad others dont tell it like it is

Cliff Brown has a post on vent that is used as a thumbs up vote against Sotomayor. He is also collecting argument points to oppose her. Please continue to state reasons to oppose here but do it there too. We need a consolidated list that will stay up at least a week. Please give comments, thumbs and bumps to that great post.

The post I am talking about is easy to find. Just go to vent and select ratings instead of last activity. The post is already on top.

  62. "virtually filibuster-proof" when his colleagues look at her record"….. laughable headline in that context.

What our Senators just don't get is the balance of equal power between all three branches of government. When they appoint judicial activists, they are in fact stripping themselves of the ability to legislate. Judicial activism is eating at the very essence of our form of goverment, and our legislators are either too stupid to understand that, are playing a bad game of politics at the expense of our futures, or both.

her story, be it, the American Dream, is something the liberal media loves. BHO knows they love it, this is a big PR thing… she is obviously in, first order of business should be these lifetime appointments.

i want to hear these nominees sit in front of the American public and dissect the Constitution and interpret it for us… line for line, treat us like children, lets go through it… how does the "invisible Constitution" read to Sotomayer?

    • Illustrus says:

What is really interesting about her "compelling history" is how it is no different from anyone else's in this nation. And it all happened while republicans were presidents. (So much for the racism that kept her down). Our country is made of compelling histories. Why should hers carry more weight than any others.
Clearly this is an appeal to emotion. Check your brain at the door please.

Is it just me, or is anyone else tired of this type of talk from our leaders? Imagine if Churchill had said "Eh, the Germans are too strong. Let us not fight this battle." I think it would be good for our effort if we can use a post like a vote. If a post that opposes that bigot breaks a record for thumbs up, and contains valuable bullets to use against her, we will have a useful tool.

  70. sajoUno says:

    1) SOTOMAYOR: BASEBALL BIAS FOR NEW YORK YANKEES!

As a native of South Bronx, Sotomayor's hidden home-town bias became manifest in her love for the New York Yankees, judicially favoring her "Bronx Bombers" over teams from all other cities. No kidding! When ruling to end the 1995 baseball strike, she sided with the player's union against team owners (who sought parity among all teams with an talent-sharing salary cap). Instead Sotomayor created bias in favor of rich teams who can afford to buy up all the good free agents. So when the New York Yankees hogged 4 titles and 6 pennants in the 8 years after her ruling, with payrolls averaging three times most other team salaries, you can blame Sotomayor for creating that competitive imbalance. I understand why Yankees fans might celebrate her promotion to the Supreme Court, but baseball fans from all other cities should complain loudly against her confirmation!

  71. sajoUno says:

    2) SOTOMAYOR: EVEN THE LIBERALS CALL HER A BULLY

Her own former clerk, liberal Jeffrey Rosen, now legal affairs editor for The New Republic, said she has "has an inflated opinion of herself" and is "kind of a bully on the bench." Another clerk who worked on the 2nd Circuit said she's: "not that smart and kind of a bully on the bench . . .She has an inflated opinion of herself, and is domineering during oral arguments, but her questions aren't penetrating and don't get to the heart of the issue."

  72. sajoUno says:

    3) SOTOMAYOR: FAVORS INTERNATIONAL LAW OVER AMERICAN LAW

Opposing a U.S. Congressional bill that would forbid activist judges from citing international law (instead of applying American law) in their decisions, Sotomayor wrote the controversial introduction for The International Judge, a book that promotes, in her words, "developing an international rule of law and institution-building" and idealizes the "pioneers who work tirelessly to bring these institutions from their incipience to their maturity." No doubt she will vote with Justice Ginsberg, who believes American judges should sometimes look toward international law rather than the U.S. Constitution.

  73. sajoUno says:

    4) SOTOMAYOR: FAVORITISM BY RACE OR GENDER, NOT LAW

Sotomayor told the Berkeley Law School: "Our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging . . .I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." It is no surprise, therefore, she ruled against white Firefighters of New Haven, throwing out the results of a promotion exam because almost no minorities qualified. She denied promotion for the white firefighters who performed well on the exam, and gave minorities who failed the exam favorable consideration toward promotion. Sotomayor promotes aggressive affirmative action, promoting race or gender, not merit. The U.S. Supreme Court reviewed this case in April 2009, and is expected to overturn her again.

  74. sajoUno says:

    5) SOTOMAYOR: OVERRULED 33 OF 44 VOTES BY SUPREME COURT

Sotomayor has had 5 decisions reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court, 3 of which have been reversed. One of these was her aggressive pro-environmental anti-energy decision, another was her aggressive pro-litigation anti-business decision, which was overturned unanimously. She has carried only 11 of 44 possible votes during those cases. Chief Justice Roberts once stated that her method of reading the statute in question "flies in the face of the statutory language." Dean Mat Staver of Liberty Law School cites these reasons to oppose Sotomayor, saying, "No one ever expected President Barack Obama to nominate someone who respects the original intent of the Constitution."

  75. sajoUno says:

    6) SOTOMAYOR: SAVIOR OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN

NOW President Kim Gandy quickly endorsed Sotomayor, saying: "This morning we will celebrate, and this afternoon NOW will launch our 'Confirm Her' campaign to ensure the swift confirmation of the next Supreme Court Justice." There's no way this liberal group would endorse Sotomayor unless she were pro-lesbian and pro-abortion, as Gandy openly advocates on the NOW web-site.

  76. sajoUno says:

    7) SOTOMAYOR: ANTI-TEN COMMANDMENTS, BUT PRO-MUSLIM?

ACLJ Attorney Jay Sekulow said of Sotomayor: "She is left in judicial philosophy, ranges much further left than Justice Ginsburg or Justice Souter . . . I just had a case where the Court was unanimous, it was involving the 10 commandments issue, and the court was unanimous 9 to 0, but I would not expect that if Judge Sotomayor was confirmed, that it would probably have been 8 to 1. She has a very, very strict view of church-state separation, and she was aggressive on this idea of a 'living constitution.'" Meanwhile she ruled one Muslim prisoner had a right to receive the Eid ul Fitr feast (a Muslim holiday meal) in his prison cell, and another Muslim prisoner had a right to access a Muslim chaplain, which is fine if she treats other faiths equally. But I personally suspect Sotomayor would rule to disallow public prayers offered "in Jesus name" but allow prayers to Allah, just like Obama's other judicial nominee David Hamilton.

  77. sajoUno says:

    8) SOTOMAYOR: ANTI-GUN, ANTI-WEAPON, ANTI- 2nd AMENDMENT

In her ruling to allow government to ban privately owned weapons belonging to New York citizens, Sonia Sotomayor wrote in Maloney v. Cuomo: "The Second Amendment applies only to limitations the federal government seeks to impose on this right . . . not upon that of the state." Since her crazy reading of the 2nd Amendment only forbids Congress from seizing your guns, the New York State Assembly was fully authorized to ban nunchuks, or seize ANY AND ALL of your weapons, according to Sotomayor's anti-liberty reasoning.

  78. Dustyluv says:

Chuckie!!! What are you gonna do if she wont agree to kill any more babies and overturns Roe Vs. Wade?

Chuck you are a gray headed moron. You look stupid on camera. Why do you love them so much?

  79. sajoUno says:

TOP TEN REASONS SOTOMAYOR WON'T BE CONFIRMED

    10) SOTOMAYOR: ADMITS MAKING ACTIVIST POLICY FROM THE BENCH

In a 2005 panel discussion at Duke University, Sotomayor told students that the federal Court of Appeals is where "policy is made." She said the "Court of Appeals is where policy is made. And I know, and I know, that this is on tape, and I should never say that. Because we don't 'make law,' I know. [audience laughter] Okay, I know. I know. I'm not promoting it, and I'm not advocating it. I'm, you know. [audience laughter] Having said that, the Court of Appeals is where, before the Supreme Court makes the final decision, the law is percolating. Its interpretation, its application." As a judicial activist, she jokingly admits "making policy" from the bench, based on feelings or empathy or judicial precedent, not laws passed by Congress, and so she assumes the power of legislature, to make policy, legislating from the bench.

  80. sajoUno says:

WHY DID SEVEN REPUBLICANS VOTE FOR HER?

In 1991, President George H.W. Bush was forced to pick Sotomayor, in a back-room deal manipulated by powerful New York Senator Patrick Moynihan, but Bush Sr. likely regrets this just like he later regretted nominating Justice Souter. In 1998, Sotomayor was barely confirmed to the 2nd Circuit Court under Bill Clinton, but only seven current 2009 Republicans voted for Sotomayor then: Susan Collins (R-Maine), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Robert Bennett (R-Utah). They were misled into joining all Democrats to push Sotomayor through by a vote of 68-28. Perhaps you might call these 7 Republicans (and all Southern Democrats, and both Penn. Democrats Specter and Casey, and Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb.) at 202-225-3121 and ask them to OPPOSE AND FILIBUSTER Judge Sotomayor.

  81. sajoUno says:

In 1998, twenty-eight conservative Senators united against Sotomayor, but now we need 40 to uphold a filibuster. Two leading conservative Senators have already questioned her credentials: "The role of a jurist in our democracy is to apply the law evenhandedly, despite their own feelings or personal or political preferences," said Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. "We must determine if Ms. Sotomayor understands that the proper role of a judge is to act as a neutral umpire of the law, calling balls and strikes fairly without regard to one's own personal preferences or political views," said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee.

Let's support Leader McConnell and Ranking Member Sessions by encouraging them to stand firm, and get more Senators to OPPOSE AND FILIBUSTER Sotomayor's nomination.

  82. QuitePatriot says:

Schumer…the poster child for what is wrong with this country. HE is what the Founders warned us of. Schumer and the rest of the progressives are like a cancer destroying the fabric of our nation.

They have the executive branch, the legislative branch, and now they want to infect the last bastion of control, the Supreme Court. When they have that, all three branches…game over

  83. Jerseygal says:

I live in Chuckyou Schumer's state, which has recently been rated the 'least free' state in the union. The arrogant Senator from NY is right, she will be confirmed, but not without some hard and searching questions regarding her statement about a latina woman reaching a better conclusion than a white male. Her back peddling on that should be interesting. After all, 'better' means 'superior.' And it is not an off the cuff statement, it was a pre-written and rehearsed speech. So did she mean exactly what she said? Very likely. She's a judicial activist.

Charles Krauthammer said 'rebut, then confirm.' In the 'rebuttal,' the Republicans must go at that issue, that of the New Haven firefighters and the empathy issue (to name a few), and refrain from 'personal attacks.' And hey Chuckyou Schumer – stick it!

Sotomayor promotes aggressive affirmative action, PROMOTING RACE OR GENDER, NOT MERIT. The U.S. Supreme Court reviewed this case in April 2009, and is expected to overturn her again.

  89. Rahthrae says:

The bottom line is that there is no excuse for Republicans to let this nomination leave the committee. If they wish to ignore their principles and values, if they have any, while simultaneously ignoring their base because they can't stand on their own two feet and are afraid of being branded as being against hispanics of all things…then why have a two party system. They should just close up shop and stay the hell home. This woman is not fit to sit on any court let alone the Supreme Court! I am tired of being ignored when it's convenient, and pandered to at election time by these politicians. As Glenn once said, our country needs to be rebooted!

  94. OldMarine says:

Chucky Schumer, everytime the refrigator door opens he's good for 15 mins.Frankly, I'm afraid he's right, she'll come out of comittee and will be confirmed, the simple reason is the RINO's on the committee will be afraid to challenge her. Her statements, we all know have been racists, 5 out of 6 rulings have been over turned, another about to be, yet, the RINOs on the committe are too afraid of being called racist, afraid of being told it is only a political move, etc. Fact is, even the American people with a little bit of common sense can see she is just a political hack selected by BH0 to carry out his Agrenda. This must be blocked, and only a massive email, phone calls from us can try to do it.

There will be a challenge to Roe the day she is sworn in.
She could well be the Dems version of Souter……………..proving that God still loves this country!
Ginsberg was never asked the question about her abortion views because they were well known.

    • gsteinbacher says:

the RINOs really need to pull there heads out and stop acting like a bunch of scared two year olds. I think the current rules on the Senate state that if a nominee does not get at least one vote from the minority party in the Judiciary committee then they can't be brought to the full Senate for a vote. A self-respecting person who claims they are against bigotry will not vote for a someone with racist, bigoted views such as Sotomayor.

      • Clark_Kent says:

That is true. If the Committee Republicans are 100% against they can block. That rule has not applied in a very long time because Specter called himself a Republican and voted with Dems.

Whats funny and upsetting at the same time is that I was unfortunately listening to Alan Colmbs (spelling?), and he was soooo upset over Rush and Newts racist comments and said people were blowing her comments out of proportion and taking them out of context- But thats all Alan does to conservatives on his show! People have no common sense or intelligence anymore.

People on his show have to check their brain and common sense at the door. Hard for me to understand how these people can generate enough brain power to place one foot in front of the other.

After you listen to Alan colmes for 10 minutes Your head starts hurting from all the stupidity being said .

    • gholland says:

Isn't it Amazing how the Democrats will declare armageddon if a judge such as her would be recommended by a Republic President.

Alan Colmes is a typical liberal. For example, you are guaranteed free speech under the Constitution, and he and the ACLU would help in defending them at all cost, assuming you are a liberal. If your a Conservative these rights do not apply to you, and you are criticize a liberal the first words from their mouths are "your a racist", then your in violation of their rights, and worse of all "… they call for you to Apologize"

I remember on several occasions watching H & C's and Colmes would ask a question, using a the Democratic talking-point in order to trap someone into admitting his point, but people like Newt would just hammer him, proving him wrong, but this wouldn't stop him later from asking the same question.. trying to get an answer that pleases him. Knowing that it wasn't true.

There is one other interesting thought… She seems to have a past similar to Obama. No one really knows the specifics… She seems to have existed, has a American rags to riches story, as with 99% of all Americans. The only evidence or understanding of her in the public domain is; she thinks that white-men are stupid, thinks it is her prerogative to make policy, the Constitution means nothing now, it is out of date and judges should make laws based on empathy.

The major problem with her and Obama's philosophy is that they consider the Constitution an evolving document that needs to be updated to follow with culture changes 21st century America. Either they do not understand its premise, or they are simply lying. The Constitutional is an abstraction that defines the principle and scope of our laws. Without it, our laws would have no guiding principle, no scope in which to constrain it, and most of all would not protect the people from the government.

THEN, I started to enter hi-power rifle competitions, I competed with some good Army and Marine boys. I found out I wasn't a bad shot, but I also found out some of those boys COULD shoot!!! Thats why I still practice, practice, practice!!!
Please understand, I'm not saying you aren't as good as you may say, my point is that when I thought I was good, a few Army and Marine boys showed me I could use a bit more practice.

  105. Why_me_Lord says:

The only one we can count on is Jeff Sessions from Alabama. But can he convince his colleagues? Remember that to block he has to have them all.

  106. AmandaBland says:

well, I'm sure there is always room for improvement! My main concern is gun safety–which comes with the regular use of guns…shooting and just learning about them.

Liberals seem to think that gun safety means scaring people into thinking guns are some kind of esoteric threat to mankind…when the real threat is ignorance and lack of preparation.

It seems that most people who are afraid of guns…hardly use them. The more I use them, the more comfortable I am with arming myself. My little brother (27, so not that little anymore) has a permit to carry a concealed weapon…he showed it to me a couple of weeks ago. I am at ease knowing that when in a potentially harmful situation that my brother not only has a weapon, but knows how to use it safely and effectively.
