This is a political move and the cops are the pawns. If they can get enough people screaming about no police and fire protection, they can leverage more taxes. Get it?
They really need to trim the useless fat in city government, (but that would be politically painful).
Just a couple of ideas.
One: Everyone find out how to register as an Independent in your county. If we all do that, we'll scare the S out of both parties.
Two: Could we start a list of all those who should vote for anyone other than a member of either party next election?
1. Smokers
2. Police Officers
3. Leaders of home Bible studies
4. Car dealership owners
5. Gun owners
6. Contributors to charities
7. Faithful mortgage payers
Help me out, everyone!
What products will the people be buying? Depends… Honest, working ,law abiding, taxpayers will be "buying" more guns and ammo. The others will be "stealing" more guns and ammo. Then they will be looting from those honest folks that chose not to buy guns. A valid case of just how much those "caring" politicians that have been forced to make budget cuts really care about our safety!

This is another sign showing us that it is up to us to take care of ourselves. Government is NOT the answer, period. We should be arming ourselves to protect ourselves, our families and our property. As Obama drags this country into the Dark Ages, we must be prepared to take care of our own. We must work with our family, our neighbors and friends to make ourselves as self reliant as possible as quickly as we can. Remember that Obama's goal is to make us all totally dependant on him (the narcissist savior) for our cradle to grave needs and wants. That won't happen with my family, how about yours?
Nice post Allan. By the way, wheres a reputable place to download firefox?
Hmmm…..
My last attempt to post the URL didn't take…….
Let's try this one again…..
You can get it directly from Mozilla.
http://www.mozilla.com
I'll bet Ohiho doesn't have any less cops doing speed, or parking enforcment
The first things the locals here start talking about when they want to increase taxes is, if they don't the government will have to cut police and fire, then threaten senior programs to get them in line. Never have I seen them say they will have to cut back on the plans for a new city building not get pay raises or not subsidize child daycare in the parks department. BUT then again when was the last time you heard a story about a cop stopping a burglary, home invasion, or assault. (other than by catching the perpetrator and putting him in jail till he makes bail)
We are slowly descending into a state where each citizen not only has a right but a duty to protect and defend themselves and those they love, because nobody else is going to do it for you.
Be armed, be trained in whatever guns you choose, know how to shoot when under a lot of pressure, and know what to do when your home is invaded.
That's all any of us can do until this nightmare of liberal sickness is over.
Kacz – you are correct and it is a good wakeup call for all of us.
on a watch list and proud of it lol
They can't watch me cause I'm wearin my foil hat, ha!
I wanna be a COWBOY! YEHAW ! It's going to be the wild wild west all over again. What a bunch of stupid azz'ez we have running our country, it's unbelieveable! I'm just a plumber, and I know I could do a better job running thing's! Common sense go's a long way, and in this case (and other's) it's gone a long way away! LOL!
Oldmarine's suggestion that we contact our congressional delegation has a lot of merit. I know it seems they aren't listening if all you get in return is a canned response and maybe some really don't care. But some do; a couple of years ago I complained so loudly and frequently about the influx of Mexican drug gangs into my state that I got a phone call from one of my rep's staffers in DC. (I knew he was calling from DC because I used to live there and engaged him in a conversation about their horrible housing market). So they do pay attention. There is an organization called NumbersUSA which fights illegal immigration and every time amnesty has come up for a vote the members swamp Congress with emails, calls and faxes. So far amnesty hasn't passed. Same thing for BHO's numerous reversals of statements by his staff regarding veterans–remember the recent uproar about Iraq war vets coming back as right-wing terrorists? He had to retract that one in a big hurry and it was ONLY because the veterans' organizations complained loudly enough that he was forced to back off. It's no coincidence that the founders chose to put freedom of speech as the first amendment to the Bill of Rights. They knew firsthand how easily corruptible government officials can be and also knew that the voice of the people can bring down corrupt officials. Remember nothing frightens a politician more than the possibility that he might not be re-elected.
http://anti-msm-news.blogspot.com/ Would the product be what I'm holding? " I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk? " http://anti-msm-news.blogspot.com/
not to get technicle but the 44 mag has been unseated, the smith and wesson .500 currently has that title. i belive the cartrage is the size of a 45-70 in legnth but in .50 caliber
And how many of your police and fire buddy's voted for that jackass? How many teachers who's pensions were in GM stock and is worthless voted for the ONE. How many GM UAW workers and all the parts makers voted for the Messiah? Let me guess. And this is the short list of the people who voted for Mr. Smiley that are losing their jobs. Promises, hope and change. He is just full of it.
ya get what ya vote for
i only know of a handful that i work with that voted for him. And our department is 3500 officers
Only a few. Our department is 3,500 officers and I only know of a handful.
Only a handful. However that is a handful too many.
yes sir it is
I remember watching the neighborhood riot in Toledo a few years ago and all that the Police there did was let the perpetrators get away with stealing and burning down a building. So, I have no sympathy for Toledo in particular. It's a waste of a town in the rust belt and a mess anytime I drive through it on the way South from Michigan. If I lived their the first thing I'd buy is a ticket out. I'd move somewhere that is more moderate to conservative and clings to religion and guns.
This isn't job creation related, but it is another reason why most of the police officers I work with are already getting sick and tired of Obama. On May 15th, 21 previous Presidents had a ritual of going to the Law Enforcement Memorial Day. However, Obama has his priorities all screwed up. Instead of attending and being a speaker for the fallen officers, their families and brothers in arms, which were all in attendance, Barack decided that a photo opp. with the Philadelphia Phillies is a more important event to attend. Coupled with him slicing the Slain Officers Fund nearly in half, along with the nominating of Judge Sotameyer, he has irked both firefighters and police officers alike.
I would suspect that next thing we hear from Robert Gibbs is,
"It is President Bush's fault. If he had outlawed guns, we wouldn't be in this predicament."
Save the cops! Become a criminal in order to pay fines to create more jobs. There must not be enough criminals in Toledo. The government tries this logic with everything else why not now….I personally think their are too many cops in my town.Mine has 7 in a town of 2500.I would think 3 would be enough.Hopefully, some get laid off so I can have more freedom, like freedom from seatbelts would be a start.
I believe that I've discovered the reason they always cut things like police and fire protection. They figure that if they scare us enough we'll be oh so happy to pay more taxes.
Has anyone noticed what is the first thing Mayors and other politicians seem to want to cut when there is not enough money. Police, fire, and other essential services. This is not only true on the local, state but also the national level, ie the military. Have you ever stopped and wondered why, FEAR, plain FEAR! If the citizens feel that their protection is in jepadory, they are foolish enough to say yes, to anything, like higher taxes or other fees. People of 912, we came together to try to take back America or at least slow down the destruction, since I've been coming here, I've seen alot of talk, which is good, but no action. Are we going to wait till the next TEA party, or are we going to take action NOW! We all have computers, massive email campaigns to your Reps in Congress. Demenostrate in your capitols when you think they are tramping on your rights. The one thing I've learn in life, is Americans are not all talk, there is action deep down inside, all you need is the courage to stand up for your rights.
Well dig down and bring to the surface, and stop talking and do what needs to be done, LEGALLY.
OLDMarine….I am in agreement with you. There's a lot of tolk here and most of it is good. But there is no action. Your suggestion to email campaigns and the like do not work. I've been trying that through Grassroots and other sites for several years now. I get nothing but canned answers and letters back. As somone suggested the other day and I agree, what we all need to do is throw our lawn chairs in the back of our cars and take a trip to Washington DC. The have a tea party surrounding the capitol until those inside come out to listen. And that includes Mr. Smiley.
Been there and done that..
I contacted both sides from congress to senators.. Yes I will admit they all got back to me, some sooner and some later.. What a received was a nice kind of form reply stating that they understand my concerns and will be thinking about me when they are back in Washington.. Also would I like to subscribe to their Email letters that they send out periodically?
OldMarine, Because they know by doing this they can scare the everyday man & women into giving the political SOB's everything they want. It takes a sick man/women to do this & the way I see it they should be thrown out of office the first time they use this crap & then be charged with causing a panic. Like yelling fire in a crowded theatre. God everyday these people just make me mad with their LIES LIES LIES.
VOTE THEM OUT OR THROW THEM OUT.
If one of the consequences of local governments cutting costs is that more people own guns then I am for it. I agree with OldMarine that these services are first to get cut, but I believe they cut these services for other reasons.
1) Take a look at your property tax bill. The biggest expense by far is education (anywhere from 75-85% of the total) and it is untouchable.
2) It would be logical to cut education first but they never do – because they think they will be voted out of office.
3) The remaining budget for police or firefighters is small and to make it look like they are doing something they always cut these services first.
4) The NEA and teachers unions are better lobbyists than the police and firefighters
5) In the Nanny state you can't take anything away from the kiddies unless you are heartless.
6) There are less constituents in the fire/police than in schools
Our local/state governments will remain in defecit until they take on education spending. It needs to be lowered because there is no correlation between spending and outcomes or else we would be graduating Einsteins. Further, since education spending never seems to get cut, they have to make deeper cuts in the remaining budget because these budgets are miniscule compared to the school budgets.
Why is the police and fireman jobs the first to go ?
How about the fraudulent welfare recipients that are draining the states finical services of our nation. The laws should be rewritten to eliminate welfare and section eight free housing by those having kids as a business. I do believe helping people that are truly in need is the right thing to do. BUT unfortunately too many are playing the system for greed. Next, round up all the illegal emigrants and deport them back to where they came from. I sure this action will balance plenty of budgets nationwide.. Oh I forgot the fare-left will not let that happen, they are banking on anchor kids as potential future voters that we are now presently supporting.. How did it get so out of hand?
Miami Bob,
Bingo! You get it.
Laying off First Responders is the way politicians get back at their constituents when they won't vote for massive tax increases. Then the political POS goes back to the people and say "if you had only voted for higher property taxes your houses and family would be safe". First Responders should never be cut. Cut out all the feel good money given to non-profits, go after fraud HARD, and kick out all illegals. Those 3 things would be a blessing for any township or county budget.
It's so simple, unless of course you are a politician.
Don't forget to take the pledge… http://iamnotaracist.wordpress.com/
That will never happen under Obama. The police/firefighters/ems people don't represent a large enough voting block when compared to three generations of welfare recipients, illegals who vote, and people who think since they suck air they're entitled to a check at our expense.
and DUI's
GUNS, GUNS, GUNS!!! Firepower is like horsepower, you can only have to little. The problem with too little firepower is if you need it and don't have it, one may not live to tell about it. If you wait for police to get laid off to exercise your rights, then shame on you… It is the individuals responsibility to protect yourself, NOT that of the police.
We can't afford police but we can afford million's of illegal aliens . We can afford money for stupid pork projects , we can pay worthless Son's of ….yeah , you know what I'm saying , politicians! They don't worry about laws they and apparently illegal aliens are above our Laws .
This is just "STUPID", as a former police officer I know first hand that emergengy services should never be cut. What are people thinking? The criminal will have a free hand now, he will be able to dictate who becomes victim. With all that is going on in the world, "Law Enforcement" should never be cut, we need to have more!!!
Columbus will be laying off too. I will not support a raise in my taxes. What happend to bailout money? Obama was just here a few months ago to tell us how wonderful he is for saving 25 jobs of recruits. What a crock!! Believe me, the guns stores here are the only ones doing any business.
So, do we invest in gunmakers or ammunitions companies? I'm afraid of the stock market, but just maybe we can invest in what we are buying.
Went shopping, checked in on ammo, none. Everyone is still stockpiling. Checked on strike anywhere matches, none, settled on some new fangled wooden light sticks. Found the water purifier tablets, my emergency kit is almost complete. Hope to never, ever have to use any of it. Got me to thinking, what of those who are not prepared, uneducated to current events and probabilities. What happens when the government does not come to their aid, when there are no police to call. When there is no food in grocery stores and fast food runs out. I cannot imagine the terrifying reality that will hit people and what they will expect from others to do for them. I am an extrememly passionate person, but dare I say that compassion will run shallow in light of self-preservation. I think police department layoffs such as those in Toledo Ohio are just the beginning. I think in times of emergency even good people will have no choice other than to seek their own self-preservation methods and turn rogue. Does anyone here think we could actually see mass chaos here in America? I am prepared to an extent, but am still somewhat optimistic.
This is an incredibly complex dynamic. One one hand, we have more and more citizens realizing that they are their own first-best hope and taking responsibility for their own welfare. On the other hand, as "mwb1951" mentioned, there is the "Panic" factor.
When I was a kid, firearms were nothing more than just another article requiring care in handling. I honestly never knew there was any controversy about them until I was in the Army. I was raised around firearms of all kinds. Just about everyone I knew owned a couple. Of course, back then, almost every school kid carried a pocket knife of some sort. Nobody ever though to pull one on someone. In fact, even the bullies never did that. It was literally that unthinkable. Even they didn't want to become that kind of "bad-guy". But that was a different time, I'm afraid. A very different time.
Kids drove pickups to school and frequently had a rifle or shotgun in the rack in the rear window. Hardly anyone even took notice, unless it was a make and model that inspired envy. Of course, "firearms training" back then was just part of growing up. We all learned how to break down a gun and clean it, and we sure as hell all knew how to unload it before we did! Anyone who didn't know how to safely and effectively handle a firearm was looked upon as the oddity, not the other way around.
Over the years firearms seem to have acquired some kind of "mystique" and inspires "fear" in the hearts of those who have been convinced that they aren't responsible enough to possess one. I can't tell you how many kids I've shared a firing line with, or how often I, as a kid, shared one with a bunch of "grown-ups". By the time I was in 1st grade I could pull apart the clock work of my ol' man's .32 revolver and put it back together again. Today, folks would call that "child-endangerment" or ascribe some other derogatory term and nefarious intent.
For some reason society has allowed itself to be convinced that all people are inherently unstable. "How do you know you won't get mad at someone and shoot them?" I never understood the reasoning behind that question until I began to understand a little about defective psychology. The true answer to the question is that it is never acceptable to act out of anger. Of course, my dad drilled that into my head about every aspect of life. Firearms were just no exception. I can honestly say that I've never harmed anyone out of anger. Fear is a different story, but never out of anger. I've come to realize that it is truly only the mentally defective that conduct themselves motivated by sole emotion, and anger is the worst. Somehow, people have allowed themselves to believe that they can not trust themselves. This is rubbish. We all have bad days, but even on his worst day a "good-guy" doesn't ever make the decision to cause harm unjustly to another. That's what "bad-guys" do.
Unfortunately one of the side-effects of the aforementioned defective reasoning is that some are so convinced that they aren't reliably stable, that they'll act that way. It's almost a form of self-fulfilling prophecy. They BELIEVE they're dangerous, so they BECOME dangerous. Some people seem to love to panic. They need something to demonstrate their VICTIM-HOOD. As bias and bigoted as this may sound, I've found that "city-folk" are far more prone to that than the rest of us. There's no other delineation; skin-tone doesn't make a difference, nor ancestry, nor religion, nor anything else. Urban dwellers seem the most susceptible. Not all, mind you, not by any means, but just generally.
What I fear is that because many of these people haven't had the early-on "act like a good-guy" sort of guidance that used to be common, we may see some very unfortunate events. It really has nothing to do with the device itself. It has to do with the youthful instilling of ethic and the genuine fear of unjustly causing harm to another; whether or not one "gets caught" at it. That's what I fear may be missing in some of these new gun-owners. That's why I'm concerned.
For anyone contemplating the first-time purchase of a firearm, remember, you're a good-guy. Don't let people tell you that you can't trust yourself. Know that line of reasoning for what it is; the ramblings of someone who truly is unstable. It's called "personality projection." It has nothing to do with you. Find someone you know is a good-guy, someone you know you can trust and who is familiar with the mind-set of carrying a firearm, and let them teach you.
In the mean time, I'll pray that those first-time gun owners are able to shake the imposed fear they've been told they must have. I'll pray they find good men and women to help guide them through the process. Above all else, I pray they never know the terrible emotional consequences which is the result of being put in a position that requires the lethal use of their new acquisition.
May God Bless and Keep them safe, and well.
amen!
Great post, but have one question. JUST HOW IN THE H ELL CAN YOU POST SUCH A LONG ONE? I keep getting, your post is too long, etc. Let us know please.
I use Firefox. For some reason, "Internet Destroyer"…. I mean "Explorer" seems to severely limit the post.
I'm a computer-guy by trade, but I haven't really pondered why it does this…
Even under FireFOx, I've received the error message you referred to a couple of times, but chalked that up to genuinely excessive verbosity…… (I get that way sometimes when I'm pi$$ed off!)
God Bless.

this is the ammunition in my .45 auto

It seems to me that the answer is for all our elected officials to take pay cuts as many working taxpayers have done so we can keep the police, fireman, teachers, etc working as they work for us. Funny that the elected officials always seem ok with taking from us and threatening to cut services but never ask what they can do.
Most of the elected politicians do not serve us, they just work to stay in office and keep all the perks and power they have. It is insane that the politicians (who are paid by us) have the best health care and retirement plans and give themselves raises..how did we let this happen.
We must vote them all out after 2 terms as power corrupts..
How about cutting some of the social programs like welfare, food stamps and such. Make those receiving them are citizens and take a blood/urine tests.
I am so with you on this. Also, they are in a job skills program or school with grade requirements and attendance. They could also be required to serve in the military or that service program Obama is talking about. No free ride unless they are mentally and physically challenged to the point they can do little.
I teach Special Education. Believe me. Those students work harder than adults I know who are on generational welfare in Kansas. They can be trained to do work that gives them self worth, their own money, and social relationships. They miss less work than many other people.
Well thank goodness we have our guns and ammo for now, but I can see another ammo shortage coming. Survival mode requires us to do things that under other circumstances we would not consider. It won't be long and we all will be forced into survival mode.
get a reloader and save your brass
purchase a mold and make your bullets. used wheel weights work real well and are free
whoever we need to. Ever see Red Dawn? with the Mexico problem and an inept government, it is looking more and more possible. I for one, want to be prepared.
SURE THEY HAVE GUNS!!!!! BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BIBLES!! WHERE ARE THEIR BIBLES TO CLING TO!!!!
That to the side, i like the "learning how to use a gun" side that this article was trying to prompt.
howver, the bottom line is scared people buying guns. and not all of them are going to teh SKI's to learn how to use them or to get any kind of use confidence. that is the recipe for most gun accidents.
if you want to throw a bible at an intruder thats your choice
What a better way to impliment his NEW civilian police force. Gosh I forgot what it's called, but instead of State and local police, it's a total government controlled force.
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. "…Barack Obama
It has already started with $5.1 billion for the "CARE" Act. The mandatory volunteer program. "If a school receives federal funding, then it has to show 90% particiption in a"volunteer" program" Can you say Brown Shirts?
Fortunately, we will be much better shots.
Don't forget to take the pledge… http://iamnotaracist.wordpress.com/
I like the site and took the pledge – great idea.
I wounder if lewis farricon's men and the blackpanther's will be our police now? Just asking! Both are peaceful muslim group's are they not?
Hey;
I'm praying that nobody needs that gun but I'm hoping that you are a good shot if you have to use it. There is nothing worse than a wounded intruder who then becomes the victim. It may sound cruel but it is so true and again I pray that you never need to use your gun.
If an intruder into my home is only wounded, he will be one tough sob with several leaks.
In Illinois they want you to have a million dollar insurance policy, except there is no such thing.
You know I don't believe you will have to use your guns, but it is good common sense to be prepared as I was taught and learned in the Boy Scouts.. Wanna know why? Satan who is anti-Christ will give you anything you want, all he asks is that you worship him. You see how people worship Obama, imagine what they'll do for a supernatural being! Just my opinion.
the best ammunition i have tested for general home defense is the GLAZER SAFETY ROUND. silver tiped model has the best penitration. the bullet is a copper shell filled with small pellets. it penitrates 2 inches and bursts sending pellets everywhere in side the body aera without exiting. i have seen post-mordem x-rays and the dammage is increadible. $21.74 per 6 round pack is expensive, but you get what you pay for
What have you tested the Glazers on? I was told they were crap and to not use them. This by a SpecOp guy.
I have some Rem Golden Sabre Jacketed Hollow Points for the .45 but 9 times out of 10 I have my mags loaded with ball. I do have some Barnes frangible rounds for the AR to minimize collateral damage.
If they have any sense they will be buying guns. And they better do it quick, since Sotomayor thinks the individual states can infringe on our Constitutional rights to bear arms.
Check Amendment 10 "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Now,Amendment 2 "….the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" I read this to say that the Constitution delegates the right to bear arms, there for it is Federal powers, not states.
"The Constitution shall never be construed… to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."…Samuel Adams
Also rember the fourteenth amendment restrict the states from infringment on all of the Bill of Rights.
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Holds that the Second Amendment
Applies to the States
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Fairfax, Va. – Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit marked a milestone in
Second Amendment history by ruling that the Second Amendment limits state and local
government infringements on our right to keep and bear arms through the due process clause of
the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. NRA has been involved in, and supportive
of, this case for the past ten years and has filed several amicus briefs in the case.
You can already tell she will interpret acording to her views – NOT THE LAW.
Amen;
God gave us a brain and tools to use. I consider the gun a useful tool provided by God.
What did Obama promise in his speech to the 25 graduates of the police academy in Cleveland? That HIS stimulus package would ensure that more police recruits such as them would be hired. All of those new hires have since been laid off by the police department. Figure it out. SOCIALISM DOESN'T WORK!!!
Sounds like it will be like the wild west. Here in the deep south we have long memories and lots of bullets. My great grandfather was a sheriff here in texas and once stated he had only one occasion to draw on a man and fire and attributed to his relatively peaceful tenure as a law man to the fact men in his day openly carried arms and that alone was a deterrent…
George Washington: "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the
people's liberty teeth (and) keystone… the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable… more than
99% of them [guns] by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very
atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference [crime]. When firearms go, all goes,
we need them every hour." (Address to 1st session of Congress)
So this had to be a last resort right? I mean laying off police?… there couldn't have been anything else they could cut?
Lets see, let the prisoners out of jail, starve the old people and not educate the children…that's the only options they ever come up with. It won't be a tightening of their belts, a cut in their bennies, or some serious budget cuts in other areas. The object is to make your life unbearable, so they can save you later. If you survive.
Exactly my point…It's all about priorities and scare tactics. "If we don't collect enough taxes, we'll have to let rapeists and killers free". No….Fighting crime IS the job of the government…unless everyone (including the left) really is ok with citizens shooting first and asking questions later…. The federal, state, and local governments are supposed to physically protect their citizens from attack so the citizens can focus on providing for needs of their family. Now the government wants to provide for the needs of everyone at the cost of protection from criminals and terrorists. It's backwards.
Bet you they could find the money if a major sports team offered to play there if you build a new stadium.
If you build it they will come.
Great answer!! Look at Arlington Texas.
If I lived in Toledo, I'd CUT and run.
We've experienced the same thing here in Az with all the illegals and drug related crime but the local sheriff encourages people to get carry permits. As for police where I live, one cop I talked to says they can't hire enough and are overworked. It took 35 minutes for them to answer a 911 call. We had captured a woman having a phsycotic episode and held her for that long until they came. She had been hurting herself and others. I guess we're on our own now. I'm paying more taxes for this?
We Can't even get CCW Permits in CA, Hell some counties won't let you open carry with a permit.
The county i live in you cannot fire a weapon at all (Even in self defence in your own home they CAN charge you with firing a weapon)
Friend, you live there by choice and I would move to a location where people respect your right to own and use a gun in self defense. God be with you but He depends on you to use the tools He provides.
Time to think about moving! By the way, are you sure you know how to handle a weapon? LOL :>).
What is driving me crazy is the pistol I want is on back order for 6 months , gggggrrrrrrrrrr
The S&W .38 Internal hammer that I ordered 3 months ago has yet to come in!!!
just sold a rossie stainless .357 3'
go to your local gun show. purchase from a private individual. what pistol are you looking for?
ROCK ISLAND 45 ACP.
try http://www.armslist.com
I like what R.Lee Ermey says: "This is a Glock, there are many like it, but this one is MINE!"
My brother and I ordered a small .22 pistol for our mom a month or so ago. Its still on order.
I would rather have it and not need it ,Rather than not having it and needing it…A GUN!! Please everyone go get your permits to carry while you can…..
Unfortunately, that option is already out the window for me. I live in New York, and its basically impossible to get a concealed carry permit. You have to go through the whole licensing process and then appear before the country judge before he will even give you a permit to own a pistol… good luck getting a CCL in NY. Its a complete load of crap.
I live in NY and even though you may not get a unrestricted permit, they cannot deny you at this point to obtain a target hunting permit. You do not need to go in front of a county Judge to get. . I have been told by employees in pistol permit dept. to use the fact that you may need to defend yourself while hiking so go for the Unrestricted and If that doesn't fly they will just drop you down to target hunting.(You can carry concealed to and from target/hunting. )

Permit? Permit? I don't need no stinkin' permit!
(My point is that if the thugs can carry with no permit, why don't you?)
Two things in this article really concern me:
1. "People are panicking, they're figuring the only way they can protect themselves is for them to protect themselves," says Urbanski. "So yeah, my business is booming." PANIC is never a good thing. Much better for people to have calm, rational reasons for protecting themselves. Panic is not a responsible approach.
2. "He says locally the police layoffs and recent attacks on the elderly are only fueling the fire, especially for senior citizens. "They don't have much support out there. Their family is not visiting as often so they're having to be their own protectors. I'm seeing an increase in the elderly." Families that are not visiting their elderly parents and making sure that they are safe should be ashamed of themselves. At the very least, they should be making arrangements for neighbors to check on their elderly relatives daily. Families can also purchase a security system for their elderly family member. I'm not saying elderly people should not have firearms. Firearms should be a last resort for the elderly and families need to step up and take responsibility.
ummmmm what happened to the stimulas the usurper promised .Will hire more police ,fireman ? Where is the shovel ready projects???? lol We need to put the media trial we need to hold the main stream media in contempt .They are PR hacks for the whitehouse .The media sold out america ..I have only one thing to say to the liberal media. WE ARE COMMING AND WE ARE BRING HELL WITH US
You can start by canceling your newspaper and don"t watch ABC,NBC.or CBS. And let everyone you know thats what you do.
Isn't this the same Toledo that bho made a personal appearance at when 25 jobs (wow a whole 25 jobs) were created by some stimulus money? I'm think'n it is. And now they are laying off 75. Hmmmmmmmm. How's that hope and change working out for Toledo? How's that hope and change working out for Caterpillar? How's that hope and change working out for GM & Crystler? Get the point. NOTHING bho is doing is working…………. except bringing down an entire nation. Everybody better buy guns while they still can. Because obamanomics is coming to a ctiy or town near you………………. and very soon!!!
The second amendment is worthy of some close scrutiny. From what was the people expected to defend themselves? The Indians? The British? An oppressive government? Ornery neighbors?
HEEEEEEY, BIG IDEA HERE. LET'S GO TO A SKELETON POLICE FORCE NATION WIDE. THE REGULAR POLICE FORCE WILL DO THE TRAFFIC STUFF, DETECTIVES THE INVESTIGATING AND THE REST OF THE ARMED POPULICE WILL DO THE SECURITY STUFF. EVERYONE IN TOWN BEING ARMED (AND TRAINED TO USE IT) AND DOING THEIR DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIE SHOULD COVER WHAT NEEDS COVERED, THINK?
I don't know about you but I have always looked to myself to see to it that I am safe. I pack. Let the police come and write up the paper work when I'm done. They are busy because they are understaffed and can't come at our convience or needs. You have to take care of yourself and family. Period.
When seconds count – the Police are only minutes away! Now it will be more like hours before they show up.
I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. When it comes down to the safety of my family the first line of defense standes with oneself. I'll worry about the legal questions later if necessary.
Police aren’t required to protect you…
“There is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or . . . madmen.”
[Bowers v. DeVito (1982), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled]
“Official police personnel and the government employing them are not generally liable to victims of criminal acts for failure to provide adequate police protection . . . a government and its agents are under
no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular citizen.”
[Warren v. District of Columbia (1981), the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled]
Susan,
So true. The Police only come after the crime has been committed and by then, you don't need them.
Don't forget to take the pledge… http://iamnotaracist.wordpress.com/
The police is one of the last things you want to cut, but they can't cut all the amenities going to the Illegal Aliens.
This is ludacris, when cutting, keep the ones that help when there is a problem, like health care, fire personel, and the police. Everything is on the chopping block!
The basic problem comes from the federal gov. By giving the states and locals the money for police for one year and then the states must increase taxes to continue to pay for them. The people will not stand for more taxes actually making the situation alot worse.
too bad they never start at the top when they lay people off !!
again i have the deepesty respect for all those in uniform !!!! thank you
i know people in ohio they already have lots of really big guns already !! plus the police are only for speeding tickets and drawing those chalk lines around dead bodies !!! lol
Yes we do and we plan to keep them too. LOL
I'll tell you what, If you ever have a true emergency, call BHO. The Police, Fire, Emergency medical and of course the Military are only remembered when they are needed. Yes, there maybe some bad ones, but every day, they put on their uniforms, kiss their families goodbye, not knowing if they will return to kiss their family hello. When was the last time you actually said hello to an officer or fireman. Say Good morning? Wish them a good day. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing those who put their lives on the line to protect the American citizens being the butt of jokes and other smart @ss remarks. To All Police and Fire personnel, I wish to thank you and hope you all have a safe day/night.
i didnt mean to insult anyone it was said in humor only i appreciate what they do and i thank those dedecated officers for that , but like everything there the ones in my local town but not all that makes the police dept look bad ! its improving but its still a joke . sorry ! some do have it much easier then others.
Hey Toledo Ohio, welcome to Texas. One should protect themelves, it is an independent human nature robbed from many who have stopped thinking for themselves because police were put in place to do it for you. There is one home on my street not currently armed and it was just vacated last week, by an elderly rancher who lived there. But when he lived there he had more than all of us combined. I am gonna miss him. Reminds me of last summer in my back yard and I saw two hands come over the top of my fence, all I had to say was, " I am pointed right at your head, and the Castle Law says I can shoot you dead" and he slowly released his hands from my fence before having time to pull himself over. While he did that I screamed some obscene words the like of which I have never used like that before or since.
You boys in Texas keep it up some of that patriotism is wearing off on our legislators next door here in Louisiana
hey cajunpatriot, you've got a great governor over there, and we're rooting for ya'll. But like you say, you've got some work cut out for you in your legislature. Best wishes, and 'good on ya'.
TX Conservative.
After seeing the tomfoolerly from Ray Nagin, and electing a competent governor, you are well on your way, Cajun. Keep it up, and keep the heat on those crawdads!
Send some of your Texan common sense up here to KY. Just found out today, $18 million of "stimulus" will be used for helping the homeless, paying for housing or helping those stay in their homes. Now, I'm not completely heartless, but wasn't this stimulus suppose to be used for "shovel" ready projects. Can anyone say, "let's buy votes".
OH JEEZE. 18 Million dollars. Those are expensive votes. OldMarine you and I both know that your state will have to spend more in the future to keep those new mandated programs up, and keep the entitlement funds rolling. And, I am not completely heartless either, but there comes a time when the strong survive and the weak will either buck up or risk being left behind and I sir have chosen to start leaving them behind. My gut says get into survival mode, and it doesn't include ensuring that the poor stay in their homes. I am not the moral compass of anyone, and this administration will not turn me into one.
As gun sales increase I'll bet dollars to donuts their crime rate decreases.
It's a sure bet, cajun… the stats have been coming in so long and clear that there is no doubt whatsoever that crime rates drop when the people are encouraged to defend themselves.
FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS, AIN'T IT.
Cajunpatriot, I’ll take that bet you are 100% right! Hope more people follow suit and do the same thing. Better to protect yourself than to rely on help being there ten minutes later.
Donuts…is that a reference to cops???
they're figuring the only way they can protect themselves is for them to protect themselves,"
independance means just, that not HAVING to rely on others to protect you
Could it be guns, really really big guns
Yep, with no bullets!
Yep, like assult riffles and stuff!
Seems to me a 105 is needed.
It is no surprise that people are going out and getting guns to protect themselves as the police force is downsized. If there aren't' enough police to respond in a timely manor, the people, will arm themselves. I'd do the same thing.
Once the wife is done with school we are OUT OF HERE.
Texas or Bust. We like the way they think there.
Just have to convince her we are not gonna get swept up in a twister.
SoFamCa,
Don't be so hasty on moving to Texas…please consider Idaho…We need as many guys like you as we can get, and we don't have much for disasters…untill Yellowstone blows that is (some time in the next 20 million years give or take 10 million most experts agree lol).
" Idaho, its the Right place"
attack of the potato people. hahaha. well here in florida the school board is talking about closing 40% of schools to save money
I'm not all that hip on digging out from the snow. I have to wear a coat when it gets into the 60's.
Don't handle the cold real well
Fishing sinkers work also.
That is great…at least 40% of what they teach is worthless crap…I just hope they keep the good 60%
yes sir they do.
ah thats the issue. i said for home use. if you have to punch thru multiple layers af dense clothing or any form of ballistic armor they are indeed worthless because they dont penetrate. if the target has on a shirt or light jacket they are great, anything like the traditional mideast garb is too thick. even a few hollo-points have difficulty because the hole gets pluged by cloth and wont expand properly. hope that clears that up. i personally use devastators, but they are illegal in some places because of the explosive charge in the bullet.
if you want these go here
http://www.hi-vel.com/Catalog__21/Devastator_Ammu...
im in florida i know what you mean
Not Me! Never held one before.
Don't want them to think I need to be on some watch list. SSSSSHHHHHH
I agree that you will receive form letters but if they receive enough volume of emails or faxes on a topic then there is an effect. Currently, there are close to 700,000 members of 912. Imagine bombarding 535 member of congress with emails, just from 912. Another effective tactic is to show up at your local congressman's local office or DC office and ask for an appointment or speak with a staffer.
I'm sure there are 912ers that are tech savy enough to create a site for 912ers that can generate electronic faxes to your senator/congressman based on your home zipcode. A great website that I use and that fights illegal alien immigration is http://www.NumbersUSA.com. They are a non-partisan group thats sole purpose is to decrease illegal immigration. Their website structure is what I envision for a similar 912 advocacy site.
rock island? never liked their guns with me they dont stand up reliably. how much were you gonna pay?
They aren't that bad. I just wouldn't order one. I would want to have hands on to check function and fit and finish. I have seen some that shoot and operate as well as SA's, They are no Kimber Custom, But they can get the job done.
As having served I don't much like the idea of anyone being REQUIRED to serve in the military.
had a colt combat commander. sold it and bought a springfield arms XD-45 5". 13 in the mag and it weighs about the same as the colt. check them out.. a little over 800 rounds thru this one since i bought it with no problems. it will even shoot lemans hyper velosity ammo. 85 grain hardened projectile at 2100fps. goes thru both sides of a vest and keeps going. limited acess to that ammo here(police and military only)
