"Bad news" Carter?? ……oh, for the good old days of 18% mortgages. There was not a dictator on the face of the earth he didn't gush over. The interesting part of the whole thing was the manner in which the voting public was led to believe he was just a "good 'ol boy from the South with some good 'ol home grown values: He was a born again Baptist don' cha know… He was supposed to be an establishment 'outsider'. Does this sound like a familiar strategy that might somehow actually work?
I have read 5 books so far on Iran and it's leader and starting another. The man is flat out crazy and his goal is to wipe out Israel and the US. By doing this, he thinks he will bring the 12th iman back to rule the earth. This belief also states that Jesus will come back to be the 12 iman's "Lt." so to speak. This man actually thinks that by human action, he can bring the 12th iman back. So therefore, he is willing to do whatever is necessary to bring this about. That means, dropping a nuke on Israel. It's astonishing that this administration cannot grasp this fact. I'm on Israel's side in regards to this. Turn them loose. Isreal is a strong ally for us and we must help to protect them. Hopefully the first bomb Isreal drops says "Made in the USA" on the side of it.
Great post! I agree that the Israeli military is the baddest of the bad and Netanyahu is not going to let anyone tell him how to protect his country and its people. He is what a leader should be and ours could take some lessons.
There is no doubt the Israeli military is "bad", and no doubt their leaders have the "brass" (unlike our current leaders), But (and I believe it would never come to this), In a showdown, my money would go on the military of the Great U.S. of A. I believe when asked to fight to win, WE have the "baddest of the bad".
The question is though; when was the last time U.S. military has been asked to "fight to win", and given the resources and leeway to do it?

I wish we had George Bush back in office. I didn't agree with all of his actions, particularly bailouts and expansions of government, but nobody can deny that he kept us safe. I felt safe because I knew he was harsh on terrorists and would stand up to our country. I knew that he wouldn't stand for leaders crapping on America. He wouldn't apologize for America's past.

So why not have Iran and North flex their muscles? No one will do a thing. A long time ago in a lifetime far far away, I had the honor of being involved in a combat engineer class with a pair of Israeli Soldiers. They were absolutely the "baddest" good-guys one could ever hope to meet. Absolutely outstanding individuals. Professional, easy to get along with, in fact a hell of a lot of fun to hang around with. Oh, and by the way… they knew more ways to kill than you know how to die.
If they were any indication of today's Israeli warrior, those ships could pretty much disappear and nobody would know it until the "sailors" were late for supper.
If Oba-Wan doesn't have the stomach for this, Netanyahu has plenty of resources, and the 'nads… God Bless Him…

Israel seems to have gotten too nice. What is with calling the enemy and letting them know when you are coming?!? They still want to win the popularity war. They need to give that up. The world hates them. No reason for it and can't explain it. God is on their side, woe to everyone else. With a friend like Obama who needs an enemy? They must feel very alone.

As for the size of their navy — that's really not the issue. President "Mad in the Head " — wants a world war – and when he's ready he'll start one. His motivation is for religious reasons (12 Iman notions) and frankly he doesn't care if his country, or ours for that matter, is wiped out in the process. They do have a number of ships, aircraft and submarines, they may not be the largest in the region, but they will have control of the Hususe (sp) Strait, and they have vowed to block it. It is the main supply route for oil coming out of the region. They also have missiles trained on the strait to sink tankers if necessary.

I can't even begin to picture Obama doing anything about Iran and N. Korea. You have to wonder if he won't just sit back until something devastating happens inside our borders, then roll out his federal police to maintain martial law, as he continues to "rule".
As for the "federal police", what was Obama thinking when he said, "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded." WHAT national security objectives do "we" have?
One has to wonder why a man who disdains everything George W. Bush ever did would advocate a federal police force. I'm not even sure I want to hear about these "objectives"…I'd much rather whatever Obama has planned, he just forgets about. He's not exactly earning any faith or confidence.
So why would a man who wants to yippy-skippy get rid of OUR nukes to show how nice we are and NOT build a missile defense system or even secure our borders desire to have civilian "security", that he controls, inside our own country. Since you brought up the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) I just thought I'd recommend that anyone visiting Boston take the time to visit the ship. I am originally from Cape Cod and have been on the ship several times myself. I fell in love with it as a kid and have built several models of it, one is sitting on my mantle across from me right now. She was part of our fledgling nations first Navy, she never lost a battle and served our country proudly. The copper plating on her hull was provided by Paul Revere and when British cannon balls bounced off her sides her sailors proclaimed, "Huzzah her sides are made of iron!" which gave her her nickname of Old Ironsides. A great piece of history and a symbol of freedom and our countries military might that is well worth seeing. Oh, it's also the worlds oldest commissioned warship.
Korea, and Iran are rouge countries, that are feeling their oats. They make the headlines almost daily with Nuclear devices, and they are being helped by China, and Russia, because of their veto, forcing a watered down effort in the UN that would play any impact to slow, or stop the advancement of these weapons in Iran, and Korea.
Of course, there is Germany, France, and even General Electric that have made Millions of dollars,building the underground research facilities, and providing equipment, especially to Iran.

Call me crazy, but the odds of a "dirty bomb" going off inside our borders just went up 100 fold over this weekend. We are being viewed as divided by the rest of the world. Ripe for the picking. And I'm not talking about political parties. Secular progressivism has so watered down the American Experiment, that half the country considers themselves as entitled as the other half is divided between the elites, the radicals, and the remnant of hard-working Americans the founders viewed themselves as. Political oppurtunists have waged war against this nation from within its walls. All the while, the American people slept and slowly awoke to the nightmare we now live in. God have mercy on this nation, because the next attack will make Pearl Harbor and 9/11 pale by comparison.
Call me crazy, but the odds of a "dirty bomb" going off inside our borders just went up 100 fold over this weekend. We are being viewed and divided by the rest of the world. Ripe for the picking. And I'm not talking about political parties. Secular progressivism has so watered down the American Experiment, that half the country considers themselves as entitled as the other half is divided between the elites, the radicals, and the remnant of hard-working Americans the founders viewed themselves as. Political oppurtunists have waged war against this nation from within its walls. All the while, the American people slept and slowly awoke to the nightmare we now live in. God have mercy on this nation, because the next attack will make Pearl Harbor and 9/11 pale by comparison.

Iran has a motive here. With the price of oil above $100 a barrel, the Iranian government has lost of cash to misbehave with. If oil prices are lower, their allowance is short and so their mischief is a bit more restrained.
At this point, they can certainly supply their own bunker fuel to float around the Gulf of Aden and be rascals helping the price of oil go up.
We need to look past the obvious emotional response and look for the secondary and tertiary effects of some of this monkey business. The chess players will be really useful here and it's a fine time to get ourselves even more familiar with all the issues in this part of the world. It's not just Israel and Palestine at issue here, there is still good old fashion greed and power in the mix too.
The upcoming elections in Iran are also the local stage that A-jad is using. He wants to be our long term problem.

Incidentally, my stepson is currently in Iraq with an Army Reserve Chinook group support a group of Marines – the first time it has happened this war. Glad he has such good people around him, although he also has The Moose, so I'm not the slightest bit worried.

I'll go with Isreal. They are some of the best trained, dedeciated military in the world and their intelligence is second to none, except maybe MI 6, SAS and Royal Marines. And don't forget they are fighting for their very survival.

I believe in the first gulf war, we pretty much kicked butt, and quickly. We just stopped short of removing Sadam from power, but then that wasn't the goal.

Concur, OldMarine. A friend of mine was an engineer at Lockheed, present when Israeli pilots went there for training on the F16. At the designated time of termination of training, many of the other NATO pilots packed up to leave. The Israeli pilots refused to leave, demanding the same training that the F16 MECHANICS received. They received the training.
If memory serves me, the only reason Saddam wasn't removed is because of a U.N. ruling that stated when Kuwait was liberated, the war was over. Toward the end, there were a fair amount of spec-ops in and around Baghdad with instructions to nail him, but Kuwait was "liberated" prior to the fruition of those instructions.
The U.S. certainly kicked a$$, but I wonder what would have transpired in the following years had Hussein been eliminated then.
It's probably just as well. It may have created a power-vacuum that could have been filled by people just as nasty, but smarter.
