  1. I bought a new car a couple years ago so I don't want to sell it until several years from now, I think I will advertise it in the NY Times so it gets listed and sold 37 years from now. ;o) Of course the Times won't exist 37 years from now and even if it did what are the chances that one of its five readers would want my nearly 40 year old car at that time? ;o)

  2. Sunny97478 says:

So who cares? They have revealed our governments classified documents on the front pages of their LIBERAL RAG and protected the CORRUPT Acorn and SEIU because of their involvement with their presidential candidate! They are worthless pond scum and the day they go belly up will be a cause for celebration!

  3. gragar says:

They are desperate to sell papers

  4. nlb says:

My dog even refused to do his housebreaking on the NYT.

  5. Oldbikefixer says:

When sombody invents a better product to use as a bird-cage liner, the New York Times will finally go out of business.

  6. Dave48763 says:

The only reason anyone picks up up a New York Times,,,is as they walk thier dog,,,so many are unsold,,great to pick up dog droppings,or wipe it off a shoe,.,,,after all its never read,,,only thing New Yorkers see a use for it,,,as they would have had to buy tolitet paper,,,but so many unsold copies are everywhere,,,even the muggers put them back,,,

  7. Ohiowoman says:

Wow. Shows how desperate they've become when they actually think that reporting their ineptitude of 37 years ago has any relevence. About the only thing it shows is that they chose to cover up news instead of reporting it and they've been doing the same thing ever since. And they call themselves journalists?

Hey New York Times,,,,its 2009,,,not 37 years ago,,,,just like your paper,,,always pointing backwards,,,,hummm no wonder your going bankrupt,,,,yes,we know that your sales of Obama collectables are selling real good,,big shipment to NK,,and Iran,,,YOUR GOING BANKRUPT because you have NOT been a NEWSPAPER in over 37 years,,,just been a political lackie,,,,,,,now if you had some real reporters they would be following the money trail of ACORN,,,the BAILOUTS,,,the outrage AMERICANS have for our corrupt goverment,,,yet New York Times,,,you have not had any real reporters in 37 years,,,they were far to busy being "ENCHANTED",,,well they can sell themselves on the street,,they did a pretty good job in your building,,

  10. RobertCA says:

    Hey , New York Times , WHO GIVES A …………………………..%&#@*!*^# ……………………………….

  11. Rahthrae says:

So they punted on Watergate. They made up for it by being all over Mccain during the general election by publishing unsubstantiated things about the man they had to later retract while at the same time punting on the Obama campaign's involvement with ACORN. Yeah, this many years later, and they still aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Nothing has changed.

  12. TaxiDude says:

"GEORGE BUSH LEADS JAPANESE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR"

  13. Nomarxism says:

Why is this a story? The NY Times is completely irrelevant.

  14. NY Times: "We knew about Watergate first…..infinity", so there. Now that they've had 37 years to break the story they can tell us how the whole Watergate thing turned out and we can pretend it's news to us.

Tomorrows NY Times headline; "MAN WALKS ON THE MOON!"

  15. HeatherID says:

This just demonstrates the obvious: if you want news, don't try to get it from the NYT!

  16. RNHunter says:

I might be in the minority, but I never cared about Watergate – even back then. One party spying on the other? This is more important the serious issues of freedom, taxes and the economy and more? In fairness, I didn't care either about BIll Clinton's White House affairs either, and even though I don't even like Martha Stewart, I objected to her being thrown in jail as an inside trader when she was not an inside trader (one must be a top officer in the company discussed). So, to me this is not a party thing. It is a silly game that some Washington Politicians and idiot news agencies play to hurt each other rather than getting down to the serious business of freedom and a good economy.

    • Cmcateer says:

You are wrong about Insider Trading. It is not only limited to the employees (or even the top officers) of the company. Anyone trading on this non-public information or divulging this information can be prosecuted. That includes friends and family that are provided the tips if they buy and sell securities based on them.

  17. gulagAmerika says:

Way to go, NYT! You uncovered the truth 37 years ago! It may have been the only truth you ever uncovered, but good for you!

  18. JamesMcC10 says:

And this one time…………… at band camp…………….. I saw BHO walking on water. (NYT Headline of the future)

WHATEVER!!!. NYT's ratings are so low they'll try anything. And besides………… Who cares. What bho is doing now makes watergate look like a day at a 1950's soda shop.

NYT would get more business if they posted an article about barry's dependance on TOTUS. (Telepromter of the United States)

  19. goldnhorde says:

OK!!! IT ISTIME FOR THE BRAND NEW NEW YORK TIMES SLOGAN!!!

This one could possibly save their entire nbusiness, so please make it good, but we know how proud they are of this whole "knew first about watergate" thing, so we should center it around that.

Here we go, and remember to use your really deep advertising voice. my entry is :

"THE NEW YORK TIMES (dramtic pause) When you absolutely positively have to get the news BEFORE 38 years"

  20. bipartisan says:

NYT doesn't even make good kitty litter

  21. SusanE says:

I knew who lost it behind the backstop in grammer school but that infomation didn't do me any good either.

  22. Makes me wonder, is the Obamaiacs getting ready to point fingers and blame something on Nixon now?

    • TaxiDude says:

Nope. Somehow they'll blame that ol' devil George Bush once again. Amazingly there would be a significant number of people who would believe it.! Hey, he blew up the levies in New Orleans didn't he ?

      • gulagAmerika says:

Didn't you know? Bush willed Hurricane Katrina into being with his freakishly strong mind powers a la Storm from "X-Men" just to hit New Orleans, he blew up the levees in New Orleans, he caused the earthquakes in California last week, caused the drought in the South AND caused the out of control wild fires in the West. He's responsible for anything bad that ever happened to anyone!

  23. So they just admitted NOT printing what is important to the public but what is important to their agenda?

  24. Texan2 says:

LOL Fellow Patriot Oklahomabound, after "Man Walks on Moon" the next day's headline will be "Televison to broadcast in COLOR!"

  25. goldnhorde says:

HEY!!!! I thought the times was already bankrupt and liquidated.

Good for them. Maybe this little name drop story will be used when we give them money for nothing and chicks for free.

AND SINCE WE BROUGHT UP THE TIMES AND THEM KNOWING ABOUT WATERGATE FIRST AS SOME KIND OF "ACCLAIM"!!!!

Good Job on not being journalist and not telling the public about one of the most important things going on at the time. Good JOb on being scumbags who probally tried to cash in on the idea and helped to cover up a national conspiracy. Good job on being two bit pieces of trash who sold out their nation instead of asking the tough questions and going out and getting a story , WHICH IS YOUR JOB!!!

    So GOOD JOB

YOu have truly proven that you SHOULD NOT get a penny from the american people. When the chips were down … you chose the other side and chose to leave the american public ignorant to what you knew … whcih is exactly OPPOSITE of what jounralist are for.

  26. chevy400 says:

    oooooooh . and????

  27. americanj says:

It looks like Glenn Beck, Bill O'reilly, and Seah Hanity out scooped them on ACORN-Gate. It looks like they had the story but maybe they were scared of being called a real newspaper . They wanted to leave no doubt that they are working for Barack Obama. The days of them being fair and balanced left the barnyard years ago.

  28. TearEmUp says:

They knew about ACORN first, and spiked that story. They have lost all credibility with me.

  29. Minuteman79 says:

So the question must be asked…Are they truly looking for the same blistering truth that they were in 72? Or are, have they decided that their political agenda is more important? Why would they even post this story? Do they hope that it shows credibility for their journalism, or is this a reminder that Republicans have their moments the same as the Democrats? What Nixon did was wrong, but my honest question is…Why this story now?

  30. What a trifling rag they have become. They are so discredited that they don’t even rate as fire starter.

  31. HAMER74 says:

So they admit it. They don't report on proplems in our government

  32. revll09 says:

New York Times, please make yourself a favor. Fire everybody, hire a new crew (no political extremists) and do your job.

There is a lot of money out there from Bush Tarp, Obama Stimulus, Feds secret book.

Protect the people, not the politician.

If the press doesn't do its job, there is no point of having a Republic. We just become Russia, Cuba, Venezuela,…

  33. CarolEWash says:

I guess we will have to wait 40 years to hear about acorngate then? If they want to sell papers there is a story that can do it. I guess investigating reporting is gone now?

  34. TDCobra says:

I'm wondering did the New York Slimes find out about this from Cheney seeing how it was Chaney who gave Danny boy Rather the papers on Bush that were fake. Seems the New York Slimes is having a real hard time selling papers to anyone at all & is doing everything it can to keep its sorry name on the front page. Pretty sorry thing when the only news you can find just happens to revolve around a democratic has been rag who's time is over.
GOOD RIDDANCE New York Slimes it serves you right.

  35. NancyNurse says:

And this is relevant how?????? Our media is so in love with itself and always making the story about them instead of us that this is why a non-story is on this blog today. Seriously, if I'd been President and some nut case like Daniel Ellsberg is yaking to anyone out there about his CIA trysts that was so anti-military and anti-pentagon, I don't blame the POTUS back then for taking a look see in Ellsberg's shrink's files. Don't tell me that the Kennedy clan wouldn't have done the exact same thing…….

  36. mwb1951 says:

Love these posts. Not only did the story have me laughing out loud, these posts are pricelessly funny. Thanks everyone. We all need some laughter.

  37. EricaD says:

Great way to post an important breaking historically significant story……. 37 years late

  38. CINDYHHJ says:

    So, how DID they know?

  39. Boopster says:

Yes, of course because the credible NYT said so. The NYT ranks right up there with National Enquirer and Star for accurate reporting.

  40. bawnyfwank says:

I see they are down to digging up credibility from the past. WOW!
This is a company in its death throws. RIP.

  41. Jerseygal says:

Boy, the New York Times will do anything to sell papers! No real journalist would not have let this one slip away. What a crock! Any notes or leads on something this big would have been passed on no matter what. Hey – NYT – Americans are not idiots! Stop slobbering over BH0 and turn yourself back into a real NEWS paper!

    • TDCobra says:

Jerseygal, Unfortunately they do not know how. To long have they been the spokes hole for the hate America crowd that they do not know how to get back to being a true news source.

  42. MikeinIdaho says:

And this affects us all in what way? The NYT is a washed up POS birdcage liner, nothing more.

  43. Gregory says:

A drowning person will reach for anything to keep them afloat. The Obama (NY) Times, will do or say anything to get their ex-readers to come back.

  44. GodHelpUsAll says:

    I know….that's why I have hard wood floors. : )

  45. Now there you go insulting boxes of rocks by comparing them to the NYT fande3rls! ;o) LOL

  46. fande3rls says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL LOL LOL
