Why doesn't anyone call "gitmo" what it is?
It's a bloody POW camp…as such the "detainees" are held until the "war is over" & don't need trials, lawyers, etc. Cheny should have made that point…didn't.
Also, how are we funding "gitmo"…Cheny said that US taxpayers would fot the bill if they were moved to the US…HUH?
By the way…how bad does it look for the President to book airtime to rebut a speech, & to give a speech that he's in favor of National Security…how scary is that…should't that be a "GIVEN"?
Also for a man who has said that the Constitution was "outdated" to suddenly wrap himself in it (or at least his rhetoric), way to go Tea partiers, the media may have ignored you…but they're listening, they'll never admit it, but they're listening.
Every word has been researched and polsters manipulate what they want us to hear. It is the classic smoke show. You can be assured that what ever it is in the limelight, there is something major taking place behind closed doors.
Notice that the term "enemy combatant" gets switched to detainee when they want to argue against Gitmo. A detainee is a prisoner and has been given the same rights as general prisoners. Enemy combatants are held as POWs and another set of rules apply to them.
In my opinion, what Obama and his staff are doing now will make the US more vulnerable to attacks. The policies of the Bush/Cheney administration kept this country safe after 9/11 and it would be a mistake to discontinue those policies. I believe there will be another attack on US soil similar to 9/11, so it is best to be proactive, not reactive.
No matter what, as long as we are not on the Gold Standard here- things will continue to happen here that will create a need for bigger government, bigger, bigger, bigger…………..
This is a battle between Good and Evil. I don't think I have to point out to you the ones who worship Lucifer and most don't even know it. Let me put it this way, Lucifer wants to take away any choice you have.
Clearly Cheney is clearly more experienced, knowledgeable, articulate, and poised than the anointed one. Maybe King George (Soros) can get him a few more left wingnut writers to put some words in his mouth that will please the Marx-ists. I wonder what the puppet would say if they were to malfunction? Vice President Cheney has far more competence than the current clueless comedy act playing in the White House.
Barry may have style but he has no substance to speak of- he's a career empty suit served up to sate the No-Nothin' Generation.
I have respected Dick Cheney for years. Too bad he did not run for the presidency. He is an articulate pragmatist. He speaks with authority not philosophy. Obama looks like a neophite compared to him. Well, actually Obama is a neophite. I hope Obama's "philosophy" doesn't get us involved in another "bay of pigs".
Part II: Liberals are just nasty. It's almost like they are as nasty as Jihadists are murdering thugs. That's why it feels like we have two Americas today. Liberals hate us because we have values and morals; their motto is hatred for anyone who does not agree with them. So, trying to talk to them is like trying to ask Amadenijad to "please" stop his nuclear program. He won't and liberals won't.
Most liberals also can't stand minorities, people of color, and poverty stricken people even though they say they do. The reason everyone knows this to be true is because liberals throw crumbs and loose change at these people and these people still stay poor and stricken. But they think these pitiful actions appear as caring. Well, the poor people are still downtrodden and rely on govt to keep throwing them crumbs instead of helping them out of welfare and poverty. They do just enough to keep them fed and on illegal drugs.

Part I: I for the life of me don't know why people here let people like Chuck Flynn, a liberal, get you riled up. I know it is sometimes difficult to let insults go by, but when it is an insult from a liberal this nasty, it doesn't deserve comment. All of us know that Cheney's speech looked presidential and Obama's speech had no substance, that was a given even from MSNBC who thought Obama looked like a student and Cheney the teacher. And several Democratic strategists thought Cheney was accurate but still didn't like his speech because it was "Cheney." Obama offered nothing new again and no plan.
People like Flynn can throw around words like war criminals, but they will never stand because the things done were not against the law when they occurred. And why isn't Clinton being charged also for his rendition of sending terrorists to Egypt for someone else to torture them. And Obama knows he gains nothing from allowing such.
If Obama wants to put the detainees in my backyard.,I don't have a problem with that since my backyard is a cemetery.
I just listened to that new self appointed leader of the Repub party, Colin (I didn’t vote for Obama just because he was black) Powell on Face the Nation. He wants the Repubs to become more like him instead of the conservative party of President Ronald Reagan.
Let’s see, he admitted voting for John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and JIMMY CARTER but he is a Repub? Didn’t the Repub party already pick a liberal to run for President in the last election and isn’t that the reason they lost?
After listening to again to the Obama and Cheney speeches, Obama is "all show, no go". Every person I know is tired of Obama bashing Bush. I am also amazed when Obama, Reid and Pelosi say "all Americans are…." to justify their Bush bashing. I know they are not speaking for me or my friends. My friends and I have come to the conclusion that Obama bashs Bush because he does not know how to lead the development and implemention of a plan. He is very good at public speaking (reading the teleprompter), and he is terrible at transforming thoughts and ideas into speech, and articulating, committing, and defending a position, a plan, etc. Hopefully Obama will stop the Bush bashing and put his energy into addressing our country's issues, and become the leader with the skills, principles, backbone, etc. demonstrated on a every day basis by our military officers, non-coms, and enlisted personnel.
Obama is a polished, smooth speaker WITHOUT substance and experience. Cheney is also a smooth polished speaker. The difference is Cheney's speeches come from the heart and show his expertise and experience. We have the wrong man in office.
Think of President Obama and former Vice President Cheney. Now think of Adam Lambert and Kris Allen on American Idol. One has talent–no doubt–but so much of it is glitter, contrived drama, and stage direction; the other. . .well, he also has talent, and it is based on varied musical talents, rock-solid convictions about who he is and what he does, and a big dose of humility. What a breath of fresh air! What you see is what you get with Kris Allen, and so it is with former VP Cheney. Gravitas and steady performance. I like it.
Let's see…..a former community organizer giving a speech in front of our Nation's most important documents to make him look like he knows what he is talking about….OR…or former Vice President that had to make some SERIOUS choices after watching our Nation being attacked from a bunker under the White House. I think there is a lot to be stated about LIFE EXPERIENCE and not "on the job training" (Joe Biden) being influenced by Unions and Corporations (I'll throw in George Soros just for kicks as well).
What's wrong with Gitmo? It seems like the perfect place to keep terrorists that are trying to kill Americans. (away from Americans, duh). They say it's a state of the art facility, probably cleaner than most terrorists homes. They're given clean clothes, a Koran, prayer rug, arrows pointing towards Mecca (although I've heard that on some days , the Americans point the arrows in the wrong direction, so they pray to the wrong God). They also have food cooked according to their religion. Reports say that some P.O.W.s gain an average 20 lbs. in captivity. This is the only P.O.W. camp I've ever heard of, where P.O.W.s gain weight (ask John McCain).They also receive FREE medical & dental (do you?) If these terrorists are moved to the U.S., they may not escape, but they will recruit American citizens, in prison, who will eventually be released into the U.S. after being infected by the worst of the worst .Mr President, it's time to govern for the best interests of America, and not the hollow adulation of so-called Allies, that would gladly watch us crash & burn. You said you were the President of ALL the people. Don't be a Democrat or a Republican, Be an American. If you want a special interest group to champion, try the U.S Citizens.
I would like to take a minute to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
I would also like to give a heartfelt "Thank You" to all those who served in our Armed Forces,
both past and present. You've kept us safe and free, we are greatly indebted. I salute you.
And for all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, when I proudly raise the American

Cheny can give a speech from the heart, when Obama's Teleprompter quits, so does his train of thought. Without his teleprompter he is embarrassing.
First of all I saw Cheney's speech and he was reading from his notes and not a teleprompter. He also was obviously the more mature of the two. He made clear points with no back and forth crap. He also made no excuses for these decisions that kept America SAFE. Clearly he did this without regard to popularity reprecussions and with no political agenda. He had nothing to lose or gain. He just spoke the facts. I thank him, the Bush Admin, all of our military and the intelligence community for the prior years of safety! Unfortunately with the politics being played out the way they are now, OUR SAFETY is not really high on the play list.
I watched both speeches. Obama was more interested in bashing the Bush Administration than he was about maintaining our national security. It was shamless. The fact that he chose to give his speech in front of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights was ironic to say the least and an embarrassment at the most. It is a prime example of image over substance with him and his administration. No other President has done more damage or trampled those documents more than he has in just over 100+days. V.P. Cheney spoke from experience and with conviction. He was direct and to the point. President Bush and V.P. Cheney did what they felt they had to do legally to keep America safe, but Obama is more interested in being kind and fair to these terrorists and attacking President Bush for his idea of political gain. Obama is an absolute novice and his inexperience is only overshadowed by his arrogance.

I expect President Obama will be knocked out by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad will demand a US apology for all of our wrong doing and withdrawal from the world stage. Obama will counter with a line of "Bush Bashing" which will prove to be ineffective in countering Ahmadinejad's arguments. Result – Ahmadinejad knocks out Obama. Ahmadinejad will then solidify his role as the leader of the Muslim world to discipline the US and make the US retreat from the world stage. After we apologize and retreat, the UN headquarters will be relocated to Terhan. Our beacon of freedom will be extingushed.
Can you smell the liberal slant in that "news piece"? They even called Cheney's speech a rebuttal even though it was scheduled way before Obama set up his. They also failed to mention that Obama attempted to prevent Cheney from getting on TV. Maybe the worst was that they implied that Cheney had a teleprompter.
The REALLY interesting thing is that Obama tried to schedule his 'speach' at the same time as Cheney's and the networks delayed airing Cheney's until AFTER Obama's.

Cheney comes across as the elder statesman, a man who logically made the best decisions to keep the country safe.

When Obama's teleprompter has problems, he has problems. If the teleprompter comes up again, he mindlessly reads the script even if it isn't his. If it doesn't, he stutters and stammers as if he were speaking in public for the first time.
When Cheney's teleprompter failed, he continued on like a real pro.
However, I'm disappointed that Cheney even used a teleprompter. Teleprompters are for people who can't deliver a real speech–including Cheney even though he would do just fine without it.

Why is BHO blaming Bush for recruitment for Al Queda because of GITMO? If it is true then Clinton must be blamed for inciting the radicals for inprisoning the Cleric here in the US that bombed the trade center in 93' which lead to embassy bombings as well as the USS Cole bombing. My point is who cares about these radicals they don't care about right or wrong they just believe there way or no way period. I just watched your speech from the 21st and wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having the courage, and willingness to make that speech. For once, it was refreshing to hear someone speaking the truth from the heart and with conviction as you did. Your no-nonsense, straightforward way of laying out the facts must have felt like a dagger of truth piercing the heart of the current administration. Amidst the scathing rebuke, criticism, and personal attacks that are sure to come your way from the left, I hope you can take courage in knowing that there are Americans out here who hear your voice, and cheer inside as you tear asunder the lies and propaganda of the left with your bold, and matter-of-fact comments.
I pray for your health and look forward to you continuing your battle for the truth. You are not a lone voice crying in the wilderness. We hear you. America hears you!

Cheney came off far more Presidential than Obama! Cheney has a backbone! Obama came off as angry, disdainful and weak. His public tempertantrums everytime he doesn't get his way are irritating!!!
After watching Obama vs Cheney on nucklehead news, I am glad America was under the watch of President Bush and Vice president Cheney. For Seven plus years, these guys kept us warm and fuzzy safe. All hail the chief, I am very scared under the current administration and do not trust Obama!!!

On NPR this morning the talking heads were laughing off Cheney's talk, passing it off as just a silly rant that hurts and embarasses Republicans. I can only suppose they were talking about Colin Powell and other RINOs.

That is exactly why I posted the question in hopes someone might have an idea on a holiday weekend why they might show up. We are WAY out of the way, back roads are single lane in most areas, our first thought was, "they are lost", really lost. But there were passengers in the car with each driver, so someone should have had a clue that they were headed the wrong way. So, we came to the conclusion they are headed to their desired destination and do not have GPS systems. I will head out now as they should be reaching the city limits within the next twenty minutes from where they were spotted. This is just bizaar, totally bizaar to me. Seriously, maybe they are lost and that is why they headed our way.
Nothing, can't locate them. I seriously hope they were lost. There have been some big meetings in Midland a couple hours away, heard on the radio about them, they cost twenty dollars to attend and they discuss the economy, homeland Sec, Fema and anything government, they could have been taking the long way there, or missed a turn down by Senora Texas. Not sure, I am sorry to have posted this here, I was hoping someone knew of a reason that I did not know about as to why they just show up in a town. Thanks Goober for responding, I tried to locate but my guess is they turned off somewhere.
The President is speaking right now with NO teleprompter. He has already called one of the credit card bill co-sponsors, Dodds "partner in crime". There's a slip up that his speech writers wouldn't have let up on the teleprompter.
I know this is off topic but I just got a call from my husband on his way to the lake, that he passed a couple of FEMA cars (small white cars) headed toward our town, here in Texas in the middle of nowhere. We are the largest city in the nation without a freeway or major highway running through it so to reach a major Texas city they should have been elsewhere. Now, there is no flu here, there is no swine flu here in my entire county, no forest fires, no one is fighting so no un-rest, there are no storms weather wise-in fact not even rain is predicted for the next week, no reason they should be headed this way. Can someone give me an idea as to why on a Friday before Memorial weekend that Fema cars would be arriving in my town in the middle of central west Texas? Sorry I know it is off topic, just thought maybe someone out there might know if this was normal because never have they been here before.
Look for them and have others around you keep tabs…. That way they won't know you are watching. Then maybe you can put together where they ended up and what they might be up to without alerting them. I do NOT trust FEMA … I repeat… NOT trust them. They may be going to a location that is not too far from you that you aren't even aware of.. I mean it is supposedly used or belonging to some other faction.
Maybe they are helping other Gov. agencies looking for a spot to put the prisoner from Gitmo? I know crazy thought but that's all I could come up with right now.
Sounds like a plausable idea to me. Out in the middle of nowhere, nothing but raw land and mesquite trees, those thorns are fearce. But, with the border a couple hours away, I'm not sure it's a wise choice. I have no idea why they are in our area. There is nothing going on, absolutely nothing. We are pretty isolated and called the wagon wheel of Texas, all the small roads lead through our town and meet up here. Hmmmm, maybe they are GPSing escape routes for emergency situations. Gosh, I don't know. Glad you guys were on to listen cause it really bothered me and I thought maybe someone out there knew somthing I didn't. Thanks bunches.

Heres an idea – make each Gitmo terrorist live in a FEMA camper trailer, the early model with high concentrations of formaldehyde… oops…. that would be torture. I am certain they would vote to stay in Gitmo!!!!!
I have a plan for the Gitmo Detainees…buy them each a Speedo, bus them to a beach, point out to them the direction of HOME and let them swim for it……..then put armed guards on the beaches so they can't return.
Maybe FEMA has given the cars to welfare recipients like in Minnesota. If a person is on welfare, then the govt wants to give everyone a car. Just a possibility.
I am constantly hearing that the Bush Administration is responsible for the spread of radical islam. My question is where is their proof? You hear from everyone that because of Bush we are all less safe than we were before he became President. If that is the case perhaps someone can explain 9/11(Bush was President for the attack but the planning stages took place during Clinton), the USS Cole, Africa embassy bombings, Lebanon, and many other acts of violence against the US which all were in the works or done before Bush was ever elected. It seems to me that the muslim terrorists really don't need an excuse to attack us other than we are breathing and we are here. I believe this is the fundamental difference between the Liberal Obama camp and the Conservative Cheney camp. One believes in theory while the other deals with facts. One is concerned with terrorists lives while the other thinks of American lives. One cares more about what the world thinks while the other believes the world can go to hell we will do whatever is necessary to preserve our country.
What about the Marine Barracks in the 80's, that cost us 240 Marines and other military. I guess that was GW's fault also.
Obama continues to prove how amateurish he is. A leader does not blame his predecessor, he gladly picks up the soiled baton and runs with it. He clearly states what must be done, not what keeps his political base happy, because he has information that is not available to the public. When the situation changes and decisions were made that must be reversed, he does it and explains what he can, if he can. He knows who he works for, we the people, and does his utmost to live up to his oath of office. He is decisive in his actions and his words match his actions.
So far to date we have yet to see leadership from our president, sadly, only mediocre management running an election campaign.

Hopefully the 'man behind the curtain' will be exposed.
I'm beginning to think that Obama is the result of Affirmative Action gone crazy.
To date he has not shown any innovative ideas……….his policies are right out of

I would like to thank poster, "(up)chuckflynn"! For a long time I thought good conserative people with common sense were becoming extinct. I was beginning to feel alone in this country. I was beginning to think that America was totally gone and the majority of people thought like (up)chuckflynn. So thank you (up)chuckflynn, for making the conserative Americans, who have finally had enough, start speaking out and start a movement! I currently do not like democrats or republicans, because there is not really any difference right now between the two. The debate to me was about who had enough guts to keep our citizens safe at the time after 911, not about a popularity contest on who was the better speaker. If you still back Obama and are not smart enough to figure where we will end up, that says it all about you. I guess you have to come bother us on this site because liberals do not have one of their own, because they pretty much only care about themselves! How sad are you?

It's been my experience that liberals are all about putting out ridicule toward people who do not agree with them. There's no more thought than that.
