God Bless..I keep a video of that day..And from time to time i watch it..My wife doesn't understand why i do this because it really gets my blood boiling… I guess it is because, If you didn't actually lose someone in the attacks, you just try to put it behind you and move on. Everyone keeps saying, nobody has ever escaped from a super-max prison. Here is the problem with that logic. What if they never get convicted. They get up from their Defendant's chair in the court room and walk out of the courthouse and they are set free in the USA. I can't wait for the first car bomb to be set off in America. Nicely said. I agree. I wish more people felt the same way. Its a shame Americans quickly forgot 9-11. As you said, the horrific images of that day. People falling and burning. My friends Brother in law a NYFD died that day. His body was never recovered, nothing, not a bone, teeth, or hair. Nothing was found from him for his family to have closure. Now some Liberal Americans and Obama, easily forget and do not realize what happened and what could happen in the future. They are worried about Rights for terrorists. This politically correct Administration is the downfall of this great country. Good example of how they do not care is how they flew a plane over New York with fighter jets behind it a few weeks ago. According to Obama’s apology speech of today, he is so sorry that the terrorist's legal rights are not being protected and that ACLU lawyers are not able to collect legal fees at GITMO, so they will be transferred to Fed courts in the U.S. The ACLU is very happy about this while Americans cannot believe while we continue to import everything else we are also now importing terrorists.
Obama also said that this is not new and that there are terrorists already in American prisons on American soil. What happens when their sentence is up or some lawyer gets them our on a legal technicality? They may become your neighbor.
Why not leave GITMO open and transfer these U.S. housed terrorists down to GITMO? It would cure the overcrowding in our prison systems and get the hell out of the United States.

Gitmo was leased to the US in 1934 By a contract that states BOTH Governments had to want to end the lease or the US left. We Lease it not own it.

I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on T.V., but for the life of me I have yet to figure out HOW can these animals be treated with the same rights as a citizen, particularly when captured on a battle field, thousands of miles away from America shores. At no time during a time war, have we ever treated those captured on the battlefield as crimmels, they are to use the term loosely, POW's, now we did capture some Germans on American soil during WW2, they were in civilian clothes and we gave them a fair trial then executed them, hanging I believe. My best suggestion for any on the battle field, take no prisoners.

Where was your belief in upholding the Constitution when you fired the CEO of GM, or when you took over the banks and insurance companies? Where in does it give the government the right to shove National health care down our throats ? Or to Bail out failing businesses? i think it is apparent that everyone here can see the "they have to have rights" and how that is going to play out. that more than likely there is going to be some play, some crap, and then some kind of letting the prisoner go, using this one guy as a testing ground for how people react to it.

Being the child a vet of WW2 and also his brother also was a vet both now deceased , I had the privledge to listen to their stories and wisdom. One thing I learned was that if you were captured you we detained in a camp or you can call it prison, until the war was over. No get out if you have been good or you get a new president or a bunch of uninformed lefties think wearing undies on their head is mean and inhuman. Keep them where they are at or give them to Nancy Pelosi and she can use them to take care of mowing her lawn and do her cooking and household chores. I'm going back into my room now before I become uncivil.

Here is what the opposition to gitmo does not understand… 1.) in any war, everyone holds prisoners untill the war is over. AND THE WAR ON TERROR IS NOT OVER!!! 2.) Upon completion of the said war, the enemy soldiers are exchanged and returned to their home country. MOST OF THEM DON'T HAVE A HOME COUNTRY THAT WOULD WELCOME THEM BACK!!! We have 3 options…Release them on U.S. soil (not really an option)…Send them to another country (where they will be promptly tortured…I mean really tortured, not waterboarded…and, or killed), and the 3rd option is to hold them indefinitely or until some agrees to take them from us (which really is the most humane option) or the 4th option…have them dig a trench, and buy a few boxes of 22's….Which would lower us down to their level.

I have a few problems with this.
1) Because the terrorists were captured on a battlefield they were not given Miranda rights. (even a dumb lawyer would point that out)
2) Because they were captured on a battlefield, evidence wasn't collected. (in today's world, no evidence no conviction)
3) They will no doubt get ACLU lawyers that will point out these deficiencies. (and sue the U.S. government for holding them)

You miss the point. As soon as they step into an American court, the court must proceed within the bounds of the constitution. The same applies to ANYONE tried in an American court, that's why we CAN NOT try them here, and get justice!!! Either they must be tried in a military tribunal!! Any other way, and it's a good bet they will be set free due to lack of physical evidence.

If I was a soldier in the middle of a battle field and I had a terrorist in front of me that I could either capture or kill, knowing that the government would like to let go of the prisoners at Gitmo, I don’t think I would hesitate to pull the trigger….

Hope I am wrong on this but my take is that this guy will be released on some technical point, in some kangaroo court, the judge will order his immediate release, and he will be turned loose in the USA. As Mr Saunders so eloquently stated about the requirements of due process under the United States legal system. Those rights are required for a US citizen, Mr. Ghailani is not a US citizen, hence those rights do not apply. It is like saying that the Geneva Convention applies to terrorists, WRONG, the Geneva Convention applies to military combatants serving a countries recognized military force. Terrorists neither serve a military force or a country, their endgame is anarchy, nothing more or less.

I am actually glad he is coming here. Hear me out before you hit the thumbs down. The liberals and progressives have always said we should give them full Constitutional rights and let them use our courts. They claim that if we did that we would see how wonderful this system is compared to the evil Bush tribunal system. I would say be careful what you wish for.
First, they must have had their Miranda Rights read to them, dang nope. Next you must use proper evidence gathering…shoot another strike. You have the right to face your accuser…dang it. This list could go on forever. This trial will turn into a gigantic circus with our legal system being the tent and the prosecution being the clowns. Two things are likely to happen. I am in no way advocating that they be released here in the US. Every sane person in America knows that is retarded. If you read my post carefully it says he gets off not gets out. I was taught, back when they taught, that an attack on an embasy, a flagged ship on the open sea or in a friendly port is an act of war. Now, someone who is captured in a time of war, for an attack is a prisoner, if they are not in uniform, then they are a spy and should be shot, but we are a kinder nation under BH0, so we can't shoot them. But, according to Geneva Convention, they can be held till the end of hostilies. So, 1. they are not entitled to a trial in civilian court, 2. They should be held on GITMO till the "war" is over, 3. If they must do something with them, have the liberals start an adopt a terrorist program, and all those who want GITMO close adopt a terrorist and take care of them in their homes. Either that or put themin a row boat, point them towards Mecca, give them a case of pork rinds and send them on their way.

I think that all terrorists should be sent to Gitmo even if they are a U.S. citizen or caught in the U.S., because if they are attacking our country then obviously they don't want to be here so remove them from our soil. and they should be treated as the enemy of our country.
We really need to get some media to pull there heads out long enough to get a breath, so at these press conferances like with Gibbs today saying there was no differance between the terroist that were caught to day and the terrorist at Gitmo. There is a hugh differance the ones being held in U.S. prisons stateside were caught on U.S. soil so unfortunately they can invoke the rights of citizens since the war is not actually taking place on our soil, but the ones in Gitmo were enemy combatants not caught on U.,S. soil so they have no rights. The media among others need to point this out to the administration since most everyone is in agreement that we don't want Gitmo prisoners stateside.

If we let these terrorists go in the U.S., we should put one of these chips in each one of them in a place where they can't be removed. Then monitor them and if they get too close to anything sensitive, just push the button. I am sure there are some details that would need to be worked out, but we can have the TSA do the monitoring. We could have a new department in the FBI or TSA to do the monitoring. We will need to develop the technology to handle cases where they might be driving or flying when we need to push the button. Can we just slow them down? Can we set up a perimeter around nuclear power sites and other critical infrastructure?

Knowing this man's history and the crimes he has committed, this is fully justifiable. He is no different than the other terrorists who have been caugh tin the past, and tried in civil courts for their crimes.
What he differs from the vast majority of the detainees at Gitmo is status and reason for capture in the first place. Most of these "men" were captureed by our military, involved in comabt and this does not imply that they can be tried in civil courts. We can't criminalize the battlefield. If these "men" had a country, they would be considered Enemy Prisoners of War, but their status in that regards is pretty convoluted, hence the enemy combatant designation. They can't be tried in civil courts, as Obam and Holder have recently discovered, and why the military tribunals are back on. They say limited for now, but they have no choice bu to try most of them in these tribunals.
This particualr scumbag needs to have his day in court – and rightly so. He'll be convicted, but i wonder what kind of sentence would be imposed?

In order to learn from history you must have some sort of memory. I have come to the conclusion that all those pursuing the liberal/social agenda have no memory (short or long-term).
