It is unbelieveable how Pelosi has underminded and disrespected our military and CIA in her career, only to advance her own political ambitions. To her, power and control are more important than the safety of our country. If she continues we will be an all but defenseless country that no one else in the world respects or trusts.
Just another distraction!!! On the issure of torture, any American just has to ask himself what he would do if his family member or friend were held by terrorists and the only way to get critical information to save their lives was to torture a captured enemy?

Oklahomabound questioned my reference to checking references of news stories. There are private businesses like Routers and AP who keep their business by being unbiased. I don't trust the reports from any government agency. I only watch MSNBC occasionaly to see the other side. I try to watch all of the network news programs for an idea of what all sides say. I like FOX news very much so get a grip Oklahomabound and look at all sides of any issue so you don't get so angry. Your blood pressure may get too high. Take care of yourself.
Learning about our government is just as much our job as going out and earning a living. We have too long relagated this work to people who may or may not care about governing properly. Perhaps they are only after the large pension they will pull in for the rest of their lives. Perhaps they crave the power of the office. Perhaps they really care (at first) but become discouraged by the 'scratch my back and I'll scratch your's' process of voting used today. However it happens, Senators and Representatives do not stand up for the principles this country was founded on. They want to change how we live whether we want it or not. They don't bother to ask us anymore. And WE ARE GUILTY of letting them do this to us. We are lazy and complaicent about voting and understanding our government. First of all, let's kick ourselves into gear and listen for the undertones of meaning in all of the news. Start with the premise that everybody slants what they say in their own interests. Facts can be used like tools or weapons. We have to look at the big picture. Wake up America and get cracking!!!!
To start the process of cleaning up our government, we citizens need to read the Constitution from first to last and become familiar with all of the amendments. Forget remembering dates in history, we need to study the history of our country for the valuable lessons learned by people like us. Don't just suggest that your children learn more; YOU pick up a copy of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and read it TO you family!!!!

Why is it that anyone in their right mind would spend millions to obtain a job that pays $100,000 or so? And why is it that the line-item veto never gets to the floor? The answer is the same for both questions. Corruption at the highest levels of government. Until we get smart and don't elect people who are career politicians, and insist on a "return on our investment" just like we have in the "real world", we will continue to slide down the slope that falls off the left side of the scale into the pit of socialism. Oh, and to stop tax evasion, why not a federal income tax. If you buy goods or services, you pay. No income tax on investments or savings, just on what you buy.

I am the first to admit that this doesn't solve all of our problems — I don't think that we even know or fully understand the extent of our problems. I am also first to admit that what little I've suggested is very simplistic. I've made it simple because we can't afford to go back to the government that our founding fathers originally designed and started. (They were a very, very smart group of individuals, weren't they? I marvel at how much I hated hostory, too!)
What about it, folks? Who has a better idea? What can we add to this list and start working on — as a group of intelligent, dedicated Americans — not during the 2010 elections, but starting today?

I have been studying the Constitution this weekend and our founding fathers truly did put a lot of thought into our Constitution. They were very smart individuals. Through good dialog they just about covered and stopped every type of corruption.
I think that President Obama's unwinding will come with ACORN and US Representative Michelle Bachman of Minnesota is working on that. They are also trying to throw her under the bus. She needs all the support we can muster. I am in agreement that sooner than later to find candidates that are of good moral character and have an understanding of what our rights are. Any suggestions?
Secondly, we clean house (no pun intended). We get rid of the bums that have been polluting politics and Congress. We stop listening to their pathetic lies and promises. Boot them out, one at a time. One prison term at a time. Clean the lot of them out. Any suggestions about who is up first?
As we clean out the sewer in Washington, we make certain that iron-clad, irrevocable term limits are set up in the senate and house. We rid congress of the stooges and the corrupt. We find honest men and women who are plain-spoken, honest individuals of solid character.

Our government has been in trouble for a very long time, and things have only gotten worse since "politics" became a profession. What happened to the idea of electing the common people to represent the interests of the common people? Our government was not established to be run by professionals, it was established to be run by representatives of the people. Politicians are so far from removed from "the people" that we might as well be electing monkeys – they have the same insight into the lives of the real people in this country. Fox News has been just as guilty as the others; while I don't support the Kennedy family because of their long tenure in the government (i.e., out of touch with the rest of us), I think that it was wrong of all of the news stations to say Carolyn Kennedy wasn't "qualified" or "experienced" enough to fill Clinton's Senate seat. That attitude is perpetuating the problem we face in trying to take back our government.
Incidentally, since I have NEVER heard anyone who has anything good to say about lawyers, why do you suppose we keep electing them to govern us?
Can anyone here please tell me if there are more than half a dozen people in the present administration in Washington including Congress that hasn't evaded taxes,lied to the American people or cheated us out of our hard earned wages? I mean true and honost people you would trust to take care of your family? If these individuals exist then a list should be compiled and presented to us so that, when the time comes , we can keep them and take all the others and tar and feather them then ride them out of the country on a rail! I sometimes think that a prerequisite to be a politician is the acute ability to lie! Surprising that almost all politicians are attorneys? HA!
I have often thought that if Obama is seeking a cabinet post, any individual, or group of people, across the nation that are delinquent in their taxes should apply. Congress should get one list, hundreds of pages in length, and should vote up or down without reading any person on that list in order to save time. It's called group amnesty, and something our illegal aliens will vote for………..even though they have no vote.
I would say most (not all) of the veterans! I can speak from experience when I say they've been in the nastiest siutations that our country has come up with, because the government always seem to drop those situations squarely in the military's lap! Iraq was a pain, I expect my trip to Afghanistan will be worse, but I swore an oath to our Constitution and I will honor it.
We rid congress of the stooges and the corrupt. We find honest men and women who are plain-spoken, honest individuals of solid character. If necessary, we expose the cockroaches of the New York, Chicago and Kennedy dynasties who make politics a stain in the mouths of decent people everywhere. (Expect that some of us will lose our lives in this process.) Once we find decent people to take office vacated by those serving at Gitmo, Leavenworth, Joliet, Atlanta or Sing SIng (maybe we can re-open Alcatraz?), we draft the honest, decent people to be our elected representatives.
Next and perhaps last, we make it necessary for everyone in the country who have not worked in qualifying jobs to earn their citizenship doing feederal service, either in the military, government (especially those drafted congressional representatives), or qualified essential serivce positions. It's not my idea, but I first read about it in Robert Heinlein's book Stormship Troopers. Federal service gives you the right to be a citizen.

We have so many problems that we don't clearly have an idea where to start to re-claim our country.. Maybe that's why so many Americans feel disenfranchised and don't vote.
The first step is this, thanks to those who started the 912 Project. We need to start talking. When we get moving past our individual fears and needs, I believe that we'll start talking WITH each other and begin working together.
The next thing that we need to do is get rid of obama. Impeach him when he fails to produce proof that he is actually eligible for the office he holds. Get rid of him, encase him in stripped sunlight for the remainder of his life. None of this country club prisons: let him live out his life in a Gitmo cell, or put him in the federal prison in Joliet, in with all the homosexuals who will assure that such a tall drink of water has a date every night of the week.

I find it incredulous that someone like Nancy Pelosi is the third person in line to the Presidency. As a nation, is this the best we can do? I think we need to rethink how congress elects its leaders. Better yet, why don't we, the people elect the leaders of congress?

If he were to actually add a repliable comment, he would've also addressed that while most in public office are generally trustworthy, few are specifically so.
The CIA itself didn't lie. It's pretty darned hard to see what is truth and what isn't, but I do know when intelligence is politicized, it becomes suspect.
