This occurred to me driving to work this morning and I couldn't wait to run it past you guys here. I think GM is union busting! They are doing a damn fine job of it too! I mentioned before that I was in the union (CWA) and it was one of the worst experiences of my professional career so I'm giving GM the thumbs up! GM is actually helping us. Yes, we might be somewhat hurt in the short term but they are minimalizing the strength of the UAW (the real reason GM is suffering). I'm not too upset about it, the more I think about it. I might have to put my plans to ditch the Vette and buy a Focus on hold! darn…..

Demand his Correct Birth Certificate. Why would he hide it, IF he is Truly a native born American??????
    Obama's back ground. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_of_Barack_Oba...

Hawaiian Governor seals Obama's birth certificate
    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?pageId=791...

A true American would not find it necessary to hide, destroy, or feel threatened by his birth certificate.

This man is NOT Legally our President. Rise up Americans before it is too late.

    Shucks………………..

Who in their right mind will buy a goverment car !!!!!! good luck suckers .If you by an Obama car. The newest model they will come out with will be the usurper. it comes with built in teleprompter in the dash .The obama talking navigation system will bore you to death

Back in the late 70's my grandpa, before he passed, gave me an old notepad that was given to him by his grandpa back in the 20's. His grandpa worked for Ford, the original. Well, in this notepad was the instructions on how to build a 400mpg, YES 400, carburetor. Him and I took his 72 chevy caprice and made the mod. And yes, it did work. If I remember correctly, we got over 6700 miles, yes 6700, on (1) tank of gas. We took it for a road trip around the US in summer of 78, Southern CA, to Washington, across to NY, down to Georgia, and back to Southern CA . The power of the small block 400 was not compromised either. I remember being able to power brake with ease on dry surface with semi new tires. The only problem with this system was that it was too big. However, the engine compartment on this 'boat' had more than enough space, I love and miss the good old American cars…..

Anyway, this gas mileage thing is an easy achievement. It is just the gov that will not allow us to have it.

Oh yeah, because I was just 11 when we did this and he gave me the notebook, I did not realize the importance of it. Needless to say, the notebook is gone as well. The care was stolen a few weeks after completion. I wonder who stole it though…

  6. NewtonW says:

Why is any of that a surprise? It should tell us something about how we compete in a world market when GM can make more profit by importing cars from the other side of the plant than they can by making them here. Bye Bye Made in USA. We cannot afford ourselve$.

  7. ISEEU says:

I wonder how long it will take people to realize we are going through an attempted- Bolshevik type phase in our country? What's going to be our Siberian prison…Alaska?

  8. Byboozian says:

That's all I've ever owned and unless they screw this up that is all I will ever own.

  9. SSGMACSLADY says:

This is the kind of thinking that almost destroyed my home town back in the 80's. All the factory's closed leaving a mess behind and no jobs for years and years. All the jobs went overseas! Do you all really think they give a crap if you have a job or not? Their idea is to keep and get us poor, don't educate us anymore, ergo the bad school systems, then we will all be dependent on them instead of ourselves. We have seen this coming for years! This victim style attitude that they shove down our throats so now we have a whole generation and a half of people that think the government needs to take care of them. If I hear one more "poor me" story on the news i am going to get the duct tape out!!!! Its all attitude folks, its all about self worth, if you have some you wont' be looking to the gov you will look inside yourself instead! If all take responsibility they have NO POWER!!!!!!

    • Love your comment! Thanks for speaking up. I'm also fed-up with the "victim" attitude in this country. We have become a bunch of whining babies who can't take any responsibility.

  10. Jerseygal says:

Well said, as it further explains my point. Gov't is telling automakers what to manufacture, and will soon (try, at least) to tell Americans what to buy. They will now be doing this directly, or simply use their power to eliminate full size trucks, SUVs, and comfortable cars from the market. Up till now, it was subtle brainwashing of greenies by environazis like Al Gore.

  11. My next car (or truck) is going to be a FORD!
They haven't stuck their hands out for our money, have (or are) selling off Volvo, and have continued to make quality products.
Support FORD and let the others fade away.

    • tghack says:

I have been loyal to GM for many years but that may have to change. I never thought my owning a Vette would go out of style. Here's to my new pride in owning a Focus. yay…

    • SSGMACSLADY says:

Already have JohnnyQ, infact we have two fords sitting in our driveway now. Hey, anyone want to buy a dodge truck?

  12. Tntsgram says:

BO is selling us out to China, since he has borrowed trillions from them. That was probably the caveat on the loans; give us all your car companies and their tech specs on said cars, and anything else they can get. China hates America, and has from time to time said they hate us and will destroy us. This just may be the way they plan on doing just that.

  13. RoxannaDanna says:

When the swine flu "pandemic" was all the news, TheOne came on tv and said that we are behind the world in science and scientists. We are lagging behind other countries and are no longer world class.

How do some of these corporations invest in any research and development when they are taxed almost out of exisistance? I'll tell you how; they move their operations to Ireland or elsewhere, where the tax rate is 24% instead of 30something% here in the good ol' USA.

  14. Ohiowoman says:

Buy Ford! They, at least, had the guts to say no thanks to Obama. They did it before with Roosevelt and ended up winning that battle.

  15. texasray says:

Now is the time to rise hell with your congressman. Let him know that he should be loyal to the USA , not just the almighty dollar bill.

    • QuitePatriot says:

Texasray-I agree it is time to rise up and be heard. The hard part about doing that is that the congressmen/senators are part of the problem. They refuse to listen to the people and continue on this path of wreckless abandon. They over-regulate to strangle free enterprise, they over tax to stiffle growth and pay for their special projects. When corporations are forced to send jobs overseas and export our talents due to government programs, it is obvious the system is broken- it cannot be fixed- it must be replaced. VOTE THEM ALL OUT…

  16. AlbaGoBragh says:

The Goverment is now runing the auto industry (well because we are fascists now) is going to outsource American jobs to China. Isn't that the biggest complaint on the left about big business?

So when Obama said he was going to create jobs, he meant Chinese jobs, not American jobs.

Oh well, whatever is good for the collective must be good for me, rather I like it or not. I wonder when Obama will make it illegal for Americans to buy Japanese imports?

    • tghack says:

The government isn't running them quite yet. GM still has some cards to play here and they will eventually embarass this administration and the UAW. Just watch. We'll take a few lumps before all is said and done but capitalism will win the day.

  17. stang289 says:

chinese cars suck ! thell fall apart just like all there other crap they sell at walmart !! ill take a good old fashion muscle car any day !!!!

  18. texasray says:

Would it not be a good thing for the people of the USA to pull together? We need to bring back jobs that have been exported to China and India. If we had these jobs here our economy would be very good. China's and India's economies are headed up, ours is headed down. A little loyalty from our goverment, Industries and citizens would be nice. If not we will be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Just color us, US gone.
Call your Congressman and give him or her what for.

    • george48 says:

I am sure most Americans would sacrifice if the Government makes an honest effort, but we been through this before, and it was not so good, we will survive but will not be the same, in one generation we will be a banana
      Republic.

  19. kwicgov55 says:

President Obama specified that Americans should buy an American car. American cars made by foreign workers who will have American auto workers jobs. Is this pay back for all the money we now owe china?

This is all that I could find of a comment I tried to make earlier. I also mentioned the uaw's greed and american workers getting the shaft. My comments didn't post. Instead I got "Has to be approved by the moderator."

    • Tntsgram says:

I get that 'has to be approved' occasionally too….Yet we still have the trolls in the room, apparently, anything they say is okay with the administrator LOL.

    • Nitro says:

Talk about all show and no go….that pretty much sums up Barack Obama, I had forgotten what he said about buying American cars, until I read your post, Interesting isn't it how things can turn on a dime! Especially with this administration…although I am glad he did waffle on showing those pictures to the enemy, don't know who got through to him, but thank God someone did!

  20. kwicgov55 says:

President Obama specified that Americans should buy an American car. American cars made by foreign workers who will have American auto workers jobs. Is this pay back for all the money we now owe china?

And the UAW not happy about more production jobs going overseas! Way to go UAW. Is your messiah not keeping his promises to you for all your campaign contributions and support? Is Obama figuratively cutting your greedy throats. As horrible as this situation could be if this "leak" turns out to be true, a very tiny semblance of comfort could be had in seeing the uaw have a foot shoved up their greedy socialist a$$.

The only ones that will suffer for jobs shipped overseas as usual will be the working people that make these cars. God bless the little man/women.

  21. KeyserSozay says:

I have been a GM guy my WHOLE life. I will NEVER EVER buy a union made car again……….EVER!

  22. Endstatism says:

The Chinese cars are such trash. They cannot pass European safety standards which are not as strict as ours. And I bet they will be like the Yugo and Russian automobiles, ready for the boneyard in 40K miles

    • Goo says:

Actually, Yugos last a lot longer than you think. There are owners of the Yugo from the late 80's that have engines with 300,000 on them with little maintenance. This is good, because you have to forget finding parts.

  23. Navydad says:

    sigh!
    This all MY fault..
I cursed myself when i said i would never buy another Ford after my wifes '97 Explore P.O.S.
    EVER!!
Now, all i WILL buy is Ford. The only way they could make me do it..
Play on my patriotism. Buy Only American car that's left.

  24. TaxiDude says:

Why does the term 'YUGO' keep popping into my mind?

    • tghack says:

What should we call ours? Amego? Kind of catchy, 'eh? Might be popular with our comrades south of the border too!

  25. Dave48763 says:

  26. gk4freedom says:

Are you really surprised??? I challenge anyone reading this comment to look around your home/work area at this moment…I bet you will find more items manufactured in China than anywhere else in the world…Wal Mart will probably be the outlet for this new model…you can drive it home with your new chinese mfg plasma tv in the back…What happened to my America??

  27. hiatttn says:

I feel so bad for the UAW, NOT!!!!!!!! We all reap what we sow eventually.

  28. OldMarine says:

We gave billions to bailout the UAW, I mean GM, now they might declare bankruptcy and move manufacturing to China. Makes perfectly good sense, after all come 2014, we all will have to buy lightbulbs containing mercury vapor that are made in one place, China. Why you may ask, because they can not be made in the US due to Epa and OSHA rules. They are a HazMat, but what the heck, lets send more money and jobs to China. Hey BH0, stop throwing our tax money away, face it as a community organizer, you may have done a good job, as President, you $UCK!

    • jwjcc1 says:

      Yeah copy that!
BH0 and his Chicago-style administration are sucking from the American people like the maggots that they are.

      • OldMarine says:

The one thing that might help us is if the Repub can get a special prosecutor to go after Queen Bee and others on her lying, similar to the Watergate hearings. This could tie up congress for awhile and maybe slow down BH0's agenda.

    • tghack says:

Ditto! This isn't GM's fault. They are just doing what they have to do to survive. This lies squarely on BHO's shoulders.

  29. beenfield says:

Unions sue the government?! Unions are the government. They are the spine of the democratic party which is why the card check is being shoved down the throat of all Americans by the Dems. We have apparently NO old party democrats with any coconuts who will even try to stand up for their constituents anymore, its a straight goose step for anyone bearing the name democrat not to mention a few Rhinos. Their only agenda is getting relected just like defector Spector. Don't buy their products and let the unions be made aware every U.S. citizen is not a union member. Maybe once they will put the country first.

  30. george48 says:

I AM FOR A 7 PARTY SYSTEM, PARTY EVERY DAY FOR 7 DAYS

  31. robert1818 says:

    DON'T BUY !! THE PRODUCT………….

  32. Jerseygal says:

When are these car companies, especially FORD, going to stand up and let the American people know that more than half of their financial problems are caused by gov't regulations like CAFE standards, safety features, pollution control crap, fuel efficiency! Unions contracts are about 40% and CEOs/management only about 10%.

If there was a market only for the motorizedrollerskates, why are Americans still buying trucks, SUVs and mid to full size sedans and wagons? Because that is what WE want! No auto company makes a profit on the subcompacts and hybrids. The trucks and SUVs are the profit makers, so when BH0 gets done with them, there will be no profitable vehicles manufactured. Dumb move or part of the plan?

    • george48 says:

The big 3 need to follow Toyota, and make cars affordable and dependable for people, when people buy their
product, the PROFFIT will follow. How doe Toyota do it? I for one will NEVER buy another American made car.
      Simple concept

      • Jerseygal says:

My point is not who makes the cars, rather what cars are made that generate a profit. Toyota's profits DO NOT come from the Prius. Their profit-making vehicles are the trucks, larger sedans, and SUVs.

    • george48 says:

The big 3 need to follow Toyota, and make cars affordable and dependable for people, when people buy their
product, the PROFFIT will follow. How does Toyota do it? I for one will NEVER buy another American made car.
      Simple concept

    • jwjcc1 says:

I think it is both part of the plan and a dumb move. I agree with youre assesment and I too wish the automobile industry would speak up–but I also wish the Republicans would speak up as well. The automobile industry is as much about practicality as it is about fashion. I can no sooner see myself driving a Prius as the Lib from the inner city would drive an F-350. My point is, just because you build a product, doesn't mean people will buy it.

    • tghack says:

They try all the time but the media won't cover it.

  33. Jerseygal says:

I wonder what Ford thinks of all this? So far they remain out of the 'clutches' of the gov't, hamstrung only by the UAW.

The good old gov't thanks them for not sucking up taxpayer $ by subsidizing competition for them! And not only with Fiat and Chrysler, but now also with GM and China cars!

Is no one else outraged by this?

    • Byboozian says:

Yeah, this is BS. I'm hoping they can find a way to kick the Unions to the curb. That would be a huge win for Capatilism.

      • Jerseygal says:

Well, maybe Ford can figure out a way to manage through this. The gov't doesn't need to make a profit, and really doesn't care one way or the other, no matter what BH0 says. Ford does need to make a profit. See where this is likely to go?

    • trentjoseph says:

Ford is in a good position right now and I'm confident that they will pull thru this and may be the only US auto company intact after all the dust settles. Its a shame that in the past there have been a ton of issues with Ford's overall image. With Chrysler in Bankruptcy and basically off the hook to pay the tax payers back and GM will more then likely be in the same boats soon maybe its time for everyone to rally behind Ford.

We can all agree that the Unions have there good and bad sides but it has a very big impact on the bottom line. I don't see a bid deal about this story. All the auto companies do this in one form or another. They are all global companies in the end. The money goes back to the county the companies home office is located. At the end of the day the Union's were great in the beginning, but now with all of the different groups like OSHA out there there are no longer the worries of getting killed at work in a factory. I agree that now is the time for them to go.

      • Jerseygal says:

Rallying behind Ford is EXACTLY what Americans must do. The same with all the banks that did not need or accept TARP funds.
Stopping the union 'runaway train' will be a big challenge. Thanks for the reminder on the purpose of unions. They have really evolved from advocating safety in the workplace and fair treatment of workers. They are now all about power. Rest assured, they will not go quietly into the night.

  34. Jerseygal says:

Yup, they'll come with a shiny new coat of lead-based paint, and that new car smell? Well, that may turn out to a toxic gas emanating from the upholstery – so don't let your dog lick it, or let your kids eat any Cheerios they drop on the seats. Oh, and just for the libs, what is the carbon footprint for each car made by the ChiComs and sold here? Peddly your stupid bicycle on that one, Al Gore!

  35. Tabach says:

So we put handcuffs on our industry while at the same time we are more than happy to import from countries that pollute and mistreat people? Does anybody see the irony in this? Oh but we feel better about ourselves while we spiral down the toilet.

  36. People who think this is a great idea have no idea what the effect of having this massive trade imbalance is. There is an unprecedented flight of capital, a lack of long term investment in this country, reduction in capital expenditures that will cause the extinction of any meaninigful manufacturing base, a loss of yet more manufacturing jobs (replaced by more servidce industry ones), fueling a government that is not quite friendly…the list goes on and on and on.

This goes well beyond the Chinese govt (in the guise of a "private" company) taking over port operations in Long Beach.

To save a buck, one poster would gladly drive a "well-made" Chinese car – and give away any future ability to manufacture our own.

  37. ticked_in_ga says:

All the jobs are moving overseas because of guvment. The regulations, taxes, raising minimum wage, etc. cause businesses to leave. Business exists to make a profit. We don't live in a vacuum so they will go where they can maximize their profits. Why don't we make anything anymore? Look to the idiots running the country. Our insane guvment keeps going to the chicoms for everything even though they are one of the greatest threats in the world. We have lost our minds.

    • george48 says:

You can thank "slick willy" Bill Clinton, for making China the most favorable Trade Nation, he gave away the store and the House. And some top military secrets that will come back and hunt us in a year or two.

  38. TexasT says:

With ALL respect people, I think we are missing the point here.

GOVERNMENT does not want cars that can run on HYDROGEN/GAS mixture.
Ask Glenn Beck. He has told us twice (2 times) on TV about GM wanting to Increase miles per gal.
They can retool ONE (1)Time and produce these engines. Same car or SUV different engine.

Stan Myers dune buggy. We have had this technology since shortly after WW 11.
    http://waterpoweredcar.com/stanmeyer.html

Japanese car runs on water. This one may be hard to find. It was on you tube several months ago.
It may have been taken down because OUR government doesn't what you to know.
    http://www.greenoptimistic.com/2008/06/15/japanes...

Do you suppose the OIL RICH NATIONS AND PEOPLE (even in our government) want to squish this?????

    • george48 says:

      YEASSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    • Cellguy1995 says:

I'll pose this question to answer yours. Did people squish Nikolai Tesla's ideas of free power for everyone? Did some of our "favorite" inventors such as Thomas Edison, want to squash Tesla's ideas only to promote his own? Please look into some of the stuff that Tesla was working on when JP Morgan shut him down and pulled his funding. There is a lot of decent info on youtube.

P.S. just in case…. Yes they will want to. But will we let them?

      • TexasT says:

Yes Cellguy1995, I have no doubt Tesla's ideas were shoved a side.
"Free world power" oh my , we can't make any money if it is free says big business.

That is why, I am convinced, people, business, governments, will buy patents, hide them,
possibly even kill to keep what is best for the people off the market.

What can we do about it??? Finding Obama's true birth records would be a good start.
Of course if one could find them he/she would probably disappear. forever.

    • tghack says:

We'll never convert to hydrogen as a fuel source. Pity too as it makes the most sense. Maybe its because the governments biggest tax payers are the major oil companies.

  39. winecup says:

Ogabe prolly agreed to this in order to persuade China to keep buying American treasuries.

  40. Walt1 says:

I wonder if Walmart will stock these Chi-Com cars. Just more disposable crap made by 13 year old Chineese girls in a sweat shop.

  41. goldnhorde says:

oh i just love it. i mean they screwed the unions hard core with this one.

grab your ankles union-boy. don,t get me wrong, i'm sure the union leadership will turn out ok, but the guy who got them to that leadership role from doing the work, and geting that extra dollar or two ….. he's screwed.

i'm sure we can open some chinese plants over here, and somehow they will be able to have some sort of international ability to never use union work …

… then we'll see who will work for what.

oh man, you just had to see this coming. keep those china sweet heart deals coming boys. they're hawking the gold, why not the industries.

our current admin talks about "greed". well greed at it's core is selfishness and self centered-ness. nothing could reflect more of those two things than the handful of people in washington selling out their entire nation for themselves to have a better day.

    • goldnhorde says:

hold on a second, nothing is Obama's fault. i forgot.

he must of "inheirited" being a giagantic asshat.

    • george48 says:

Why do you need a union to make a car?
If you have the skil you can do it ,
The union President does nt make the cars.
      Here is a question
If it comes down to you having a job or the union what will you take?
I hope you say job. other wise you r an unemployed union member.
Well then u dont need the Damn Union

  42. recovery24 says:

Greed may be part of it, but moving to where the taxes are cheaper is just good business practice. I wish our present administration understood that..

  43. BrovoSierra says:

It seems to be one thing to run up a federal debt when your country has the means of production. That when the economy recovers and people go back to work they go back to jobs that produce goods. In the US we no longer make Clothes , Shoes, Electronics, Cars are at best second rate. Minning for ore or oil is hindered. We screem for meaningful employment as we shop for goods made eles were. But here we are, in debt up to our eyeballs, with little means to repay that money owed to whom??? I would almost say let China have GM in trade for all the T-bills they bought. Best to be poor and out of debt than inslaved. But then again, the last three things I have bought were made over seas because they are not made here. What a cring shame.

  44. Shadrach says:

I wonder if the new Chinese cars will be like the "made in China" toy cars I used to get when I was a kid in the 60's? You could take them apart and look on the other side of the stamped metal and it was a tomato can or something with Chinese writing on it.

  45. Shadrach says:

I wonder if the new Chinese cars will be like the "made in China" toy cars I used to get when I was a kid in the 60's? You could take them apart and look on the other side of the stamped metal and it was a tomato can or something with Chinese writing on them.

    • george48 says:

We are laughing now at China but they are the worlds 4th largest economy soon to be #3 and soon after that #2 and soon after that #1.
Wake up America or start learning mandarin.

  46. acheyjake says:

I have to disagree with you friend. The unions absolutely reflect their membership. The UAW has an "entitlement" mentality and they expect the union leadership to deliver the entitlements in any way. If the UAW members didn't, they would vote the UAW leadership out or quit the union.

  47. acheyjake says:

It's getting to the point that "foreign" cars are more American than "American" cars are.

  48. acheyjake says:

Don't make the mistake of calling the world the progressives live in a new reality. It is a total lie and we must always recognize that and act and speak accordingly. Don't let them redefine words.

    Take care, friend.

  49. htrn says:

I'm sure I'll get raked over the coals for this, but in the most sarcastic tone I can find …

Thank you big unions. Thank you corporate greed and short-sightedness. Thank you big government. You all made this possible.

Now that I feel better for making those statements:

Corporate greed (both by bond holders and those running companies into the ground) caused lack of savings. All of this work is done by finance. Why? Because they do not save for a rainy day whereas Microsoft does just about everything with cash.

Unions, while of good origins, have turned into leeches that play on individual greed of workers.

Big government … well isn't this kind of all about that topic? Obama wants to grow it further into business, healthcare, finance, any other industry he can sink his teeth into.

It has all come together to rid more productivity out of America and push it overseas. WE MUST START PRODUCING THINGS AGAIN!

    • beckgether says:

The sarcasism wasn't coming through enough. Oh just kidding…you did well. Just don't like hearing it. As long as the EPA has the power it has, production will not happen on a grand scale. How can it? There has to be some give and take. Obama seems to want to flat line everything. Hope I am wrong.

    • ticked_in_ga says:

The only thing I take issue with is the use of the word greed. Maximizing profits is not being greedy. If you run the business correctly, providing goods or services people want, then they should be able to profit as much as they can. The greedy people are those who live at the government trough and the leeches in the government. All they do is take. They produce nothing but a bureaucracy that keeps the angry victims fat and happy.

      • htrn says:

The word greed is often misused. It was used in its proper context. Not all businesses are greedy, Some are. Not all people are greedy, Some are. Unfortunately it is so often the few bad apples that spoil the good things for the majority of good ones.

    • texasray says:

Now is the time to rise hell with your congressman.

    • acheyjake says:

I don't know who will rake you over the coals for telling the truth, but I sure won't because you are absolutely correct. Your last statement is disturbing to me and I will explain why.

I work in a petroleum related field and I inspect equipment that will be used in the refinement of crude oil. Of course, Obama has big oil squarely in his sights. I am in Oklahoma and there are so many companies here who still manufacture things related to petroleum and they are starting to slow down and some have had some layoffs. I hate to say it, but I'm not optimistic about all of this hope and change. I've already got Plan B in place.

      Take care friend.

  50. texasray says:

There will be a day when most of the US manufacturing will be outsourced. There is no loyalty from goverment, industry,or the public. It's all about greed. There will be a huge price to pay. Our country will become poorer and our standard of living will drop.
Hopefully when China becomes the #1 economic power they will outsource a few jobs to the USA, if we ask them nicely.

  51. IdahoGhola says:

Love your point, but the truth is, we aren't share holders…

    We're THIEVES!!!!

We let it come to this, regardless of party affiliation, each of us let this happen.

When the government steals a company ftom it's share holders, it's just like we did it ourselves.

And it's up to US to make it right.

  52. IdahoGhola says:

The problem is people, when you are on government dollars, you are going to have to expect government results…. and the fact is that government feels that advertising isn’t a priority, payroll is.

You think this is bad, wait until the banks that have taken TARP money want to review their advertising budgets… because you are smoking crack if you think this is the last time this will happen.

    Enjoy the new reality.

  53. mwb1951 says:

The next time we buy a car? It won't be American made, either because we no longer make cars in this country or because car companies will be owned by this liberal government OR foreigners. How sad is that?

  54. IdahoGhola says:

From Bill Dupray-The Patriot Room- 5/4/09 and I quote:
"Let's not sugar-coat this. Barack Obama is doing what Communist and Fascist governments have done throughout history, take whatever they want from the people, with the rationale that it is "good for the State." The Founding Fathers, who knew a thing or two about despotism, drafted the 5th Amendment to protect us from people just like Barack Obama. Despots don't pay attention to things like constitutions. They pay them lip-service, pretend what they are doing is legal, and do whatever they want.

The only thing that can save us from Obama's shredding of the Constitution is hope and a prayer that whatever judges hear this case follow Supreme Court precedent and slap Obama down. Even then, characters like Obama will keep coming and try again and again, until they succeed. Until some of our elected officials or members of the media wake up and put a stop to this madness, he will keep coming for us."

    • jerry0641 says:

As much as I hate to say this, you are right. Barry is doing it fast, and the people are being led to slaughter.

      • IdahoGhola says:

Yes, definitely. And it's not that Obama is evil, or fronting an evil conspiracy. I'm sure he believes he is doing what is right and what is good.

        But

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

The problem is with he, and most "partisans" whether left or right, is that, for them, the ends justify the means.

They will use the Constitution for toilet paper if it's the only way to clean their @$$&$

Ironically, it was what they called Reagan's "ends justify the means" mentality that libs condemned constantly during his Presidency.

        More hipocracy!

But aristocracy is founded in hypocracy and we now live in an Aristocracy.

        Enjoy!

As long as the liberal media glorifies Obama, he will get his way, most of the time, what the Media does not realize is once Obama achives his agenta, then he will find a way to silence the media, he is letting them do the dirty work for now, untill the time comes, before next election, probably, we need to get the (BUMS) Congress
out of office in the next election.
And imposse term limits on Congress, just like the President.

  56. indiana912 says:

This should piss off the unions to no end, they are losing jobs to plant and line shut downs, and now cars being made in China, WOW that one will not go over well. On a side note it seam as if the only things made in the USA is people, at some point this will all come back to bite us in the butt. I remember as a kid the older people used to say that the US will never be taken over by war, but will destroy itself from the inside, kind of looks like they were right.

  57. CULATR2 says:

Here's an idea. Let's all just be consumers, and leave the value added activities to China, Japan and Korea. We'll all sit around and count what value we have left in our 401Ks and other investments. Never mind the trade deficit. We will be a nation of health care, financial services, legal services, other services, retail and wholesale distribution. Oh yeah, a few green jobs will be added and government jobs will expend, however low paying they are. We might build a few more homes, too. We won't MAKE anything here unless it is food or petroleum processing or anything where the transportation cost is so high relative to the value of the product that it HAS to be produced close to consumption.

    Sounds like Rome.

  58. jdyke says:

If the UAW wants to retain any power they should sue the gov't. Small companies did in FDR's time and eventually it ended up in the supreme court. Many of FDR's programs were deemed unconstituional. I see no where in the constituion that a any president has the power to interfer in private companies, fire CEO, or tell a company how it should be run. We need to use the power that our founders gave us. For every hand out from the Fed's- there are strings…I would not take any government money, I'd let my company fail, do a restucturing chapter 13, before I would have the government tell me how to run my private enterprize. Guess the UAW can all go to China.

    • acheyjake says:

Friend, the government just bailed the UAW out! The UAW will more likely sue fellow Americans for not buying their products. Think about what you said. The UAW actually has ownership in the companies they work for now.

  59. Brass says:

So, the Chrysler star is getting painted red? As in Communist Red? Dandy. Next you'll be telling me that they've retooled the production lines to produce tanks. Did it ever occur to anyone that all the factories that we've been building in China could easily be retooled to produce machines of war for China and there's nothing we can do about it?

    • acheyjake says:

China has been ramping up it military production big time. Look for a China invasion of Taiwan during Obama's presidency.

  60. TheAudacity says:

China and India are making smart decisions. America needs to wake up. We were the production capital of the world, do we want to lose that? We should care about our environment, but man is not the cause of climate change. Climate change is naturally occurring, in fact, there is so much evidence to show the earth is in fact cooling.

Business' should face small environmental restrictions (like no dumping waste into water), but not cap and trade and whatever else the greenies want to throw at them. Our business' are leaving for cheaper labor thanks to our unions. Unions need to be broken down. We needed unions when owners were mistreating employees, but we don't need these big powerful unions.

China and India are buying African land and taking natural resources from their. China and India don't bog down business' with heavy regulations. Funny how they have barely any regulations and workers are mistreated, but no libs are worried about that. Bring business back to America. Less restrictions and taxes. Don't pay basic workers these huge salaries. Let the markets dictate their salaries. Some GM assembly line workers make $40, whereas some professionals don't even make that. The US has been in a habit of false salary lines and false interest rates. It is killing our economy.

    I'm for a multi-party system.

    • Byboozian says:

It's that whole common sense thing. No one should want to destroy the environment, and no one should want to impose regulations that drastically drive up prices or make a company unprofitable.

Here's an idea: Nobody makes money off of anything "GREEN" anymore. No green products, technology, regulations, anything. If it is an idea or product that makes companies money then go for it. If it is a product that causes less damage, great. Advertise it as such. It still has to make sense. If no one wants to buy it at market value then it doesn't make sense and the government should not force people to buy / use that product.

    • acheyjake says:

      Absolutely outstanding post friend.

    • Nitro says:

Did you ever wonder 'who' is pulling Obama's strings? Globalism has already pretty much taken over, there is something much larger than Obama and his liberal henchmen…Nikita Khrushchev many years ago made a remark something to the effect of: We do not have to beat you at war, we will take you over from within…. Now I am not saying the Russians have anything to do with this, in fact I do not believe they do, my point is; We have been taken over from within….like the movie…"While You Were Sleeping" I think America has been asleep for a long time, and we are just now coming out of a dream like slumber….everything looked so wonderful, you could be whatever you wanted to be, opportunities were in abundance to any who wanted to achieve, we just did not pay attention, we never saw it coming! And if we did, we ignored it just a little too long.

This may sound "anti-union", but I don't find a reason for them anymore, especially if they become so greedy that they choke off the source of their income and also our national pride in our automobile. We invented the automobile for cryin out loud! Why should assembly line workers make as much as $40/hour? I'm for a livable wage and paying workers what they are worth, but $40/hour? really? I'm with Audacity, let the market dictate salary.

This is why the auto industry and other businesses are in a mess.We loose hundreds of jobs to overseas work force and let our people starve.I will not buy a GM car ever again that is for sure and not a damn Communist car. Those people are our enemy why deal with them?If you look and see the things China sends here with leaded paint and other dangerous items. The car has to be junk and I'll never buy a GM again!!!

People will tell you this is because they are greedy, but those corps have stock holders to answer to and profits to make for them, not to mention 401K holders like teachers and firemen.

It's all part of the law of diminishing returns… keep taxing the ones who have and pretty soon you run out of them.

It is a trifle long, but I say, go with it.

    • acheyjake says:

Good post but I don't think you can call our politicians devious. They told us in advance what they were going to do and enough people fell for it to put them in office.

      Thanks, friend.

      • Nitro says:

You are right…devious is probably not entirely the right word…how about slight of hand slime bucket con artist…does that come a little closer? I know it is not quite harsh enough, but it's a start!

  66. Although I do not agree with it entirely I don't have a problem with this decision. I am a die-hard capitalist and believe that anytime you interfere with the invisible hand of the market you end up only hurting yourself. We cannot pick and choose when and where we want to have capitalism. We must either accept it or reject it. Free trade is what will keep this world from tearing itself apart. The last thing we should ever do is put up trade barriers and protective tariffs. They have never worked in the past and I highly doubt they will work in the future.

I do doubt though that it will come to fruition. The public backlash of this will be significant and looking at the history of politicians they will do whatever the latest opinion poll tells them to do. What will be the most interesting is how the unions handle this. They have a large stake in the company so they will want it to earn a profit, but in order to placate their members they must oppose it. Talk about a dilemma!

  67. wacveteran says:

No correction from me, I heard the same thing on Fox this morning.

How do you think this will effect the Union membership morale? Or how will this effect the membership drive?
Correct ME if I'm wrong, but don't the Unions own a controlling membership in Chrysler now or will in the near future?

      • Bouttogo says:

55% UAW ownership to come but let me tell you, the lowly union member (Chrysler worker) will not be calling the shots or reaping the benefits. His or her roll in all of this is to pay dues. The spoils will be reserved for Obama and his UAW minions.

        Ain't it crazy?

      • wacveteran says:

I know the unions aren't happy; case in point is their attempt to control in Calif; the governor wants to cut wages to help save the state. Obama is backing the unions on preventing this with the threats of no more aid to California which I don't think they should get anyway.
With unions there is no such thing as fair wage; when employees get a rate hike then so do the unions as well as the government; if you work for a private company and get a raise, no one else can take a percentage of that except in taxes.
With private companies you get a raise because you earned it and you worked for it.

It is a Chrysler plant in Kenosha WI., the workers were told they were going to be producing a new engine, these same workers had participated in the give back plan not realizing their jobs were part of the give back….Oh well I guess Mexico needs the work more. I am sorry these workers lost their jobs…but maybe, just maybe, they should consider the source of these promises…WAKE-UP American workers…you are being sold out! If you are a liberal,
    I will say this slowly…W—A—K—E – U—P! – Y—O—U – A—R—E – B—E—I—N—G – S—C—R—E—W—E—D!!!

  71. MikeinIdaho says:

My wife and I decided last night that we will NOT support Obama Motors, Chrysler and the UAW anymore, period. We were loyal GM and Chrysler people for more than 30 years, but no more. That means we will support companies that build cars using reasonably priced labor, wherever they are built. Hopefully we can buy those vehicles built in the Southern US, but if not then so be it. We will NOT support the gangster from Chicago and his Union thug backers. We've already lost the taxpayer supplied money that was given to those companies and the unions, so there's no sense throwing further funds to any of them. Sorry if that offends any union folks out there, but enough is enough! we're voting with our dollars AND our votes wherever we can.

    • texasray says:

      Good answer

    • GerryW says:

I have to respond to your comment. Yeah the car companies made some bad decisions and need to reduce cost but if you think buying a car from Japan or anywhere else is going to make the US economy any better you will be part of the problem. If any of the big three go under it will bring the ecomy to its knees and if you think your job is safe think again, You are talking about millions of jobs that are directly and indirectly tied to auto manufacturing, if they go who do you think loses the money those people put in the economy? Go ahead and support foreign manufacturers but when you lose your job remember how it started.

      • MikeinIdaho says:

Do you think anyone's job is safe now? Or will be when all these socialist programs are fully implemented?
The only way to fight this is with your dollars and your vote. To attempt to protect your job by buying overpriced junk (which will be made in China and Mexico) is not a smart move, in my opinion. Is that "go along to get along" ? How did that work out for the banks and the auto makers? Not very well, I think.
As for me, I will fight this makeover to Socialism (or worse) with ALL the means I have in my possesion, starting with my money and my vote and using progressive escalation on my part until we win or I die.
Besides that, wouldn't you agree that the automakers Chrysler and GM have already gone under? They just haven't been pronounced dead, yet.

    • TJwasright says:

We haven't bought UAW-made cars in 30 years since Roger Smith vehemently denied any defects in GM vehicles; his denial occurred at the same time there were tv stories about how the engines in brand new GM cars were literally falling out of the car because they were so poorly assembled. I've been driving a Toyota Avalon for 9 years and other than routine maintenance the only thing wrong with it has had to do with the wheels/tires. In my humble opinion Detroit has been corrupt for a long time and I refuse to support anything they produce (in particular GM). My big worry is that he won't stop at Obama Motors. It will soon be Obama Wellness, Obama Foods (did you see that the Senate is considering taxing sugar?), Obama Financial Services, Obama Bank of America, Obama Credit Cards, Obama Real Estate. What's left???

      • MikeinIdaho says:

That's a fact, in my opinion! Time for pitchforks and torches! Throw them all out in 2010 and "The One" in 2012, unless he's impeached and convicted after the midterm elections in 2010.

    • poorboy says:

I agree totally and I presently own three diesel 3/4 ton Chevy's and when they are gone I will be looking for someone that represents America in the best possible way. How can anybody with a brain allow the government to ruin their business I haven't a clue. Nuff said.

  72. I'm kind of excited about this. Have you seen the Shanghai auto show? Some amazing designs and great cars came out there. I'm sorry, but if a Chinese car is better than American, I'll drive Chinese. heck, I think American cars are crap so this was bound to happen one day.

    • vulture09 says:

Heck, this started back in the 70's with government mandates, after the real Detroit Iron was around. I had hope with the Camaro and some prototype Ford products (my school was across the street from the Ford R,D & E center), but since the mistake of taking the bailouts, I can't say. Where I live, the Big three was a way of life, and it kills me to see them in the state they are in because of all this. When this is done, the cities where the manufacturers had operations are likely to become wastelands like Flint. No jobs, no income.

Also the same for factories sure curb so called green house gasses here but then buy your cheap stuff from Chinese manufacturers who dont have to spend money on keeping their factories from polluting! real fair !

I'm for drilling in the US. The reason why all these companies are going overseas is because of the stupid cap and trade laws and corporate taxes.

    • Walt1 says:

Dude, your an idiot. The non-union American engineers design the finest cars in the world…the inefficient unions inflate the price of the cars beyond the competitive market allowance, thus the cars do not sell. Inferior they are not. More power to you on your new Chi-Com car, and if it makes you feel all the better, I heard the propaganda minister of China belives the human rights conditions of the Chineese workers are the finest in the world.

      • Yeah, but are they sold here? Are they produced in America? All these designers are freelance..they don't work for one of the big three

I'm sorry, but I buy based on quality and longevity and if a Chinese car lasts longer than an American, I'll buy it. Now that's saying if the specs are right…I like speed and handling.

    • Goo says:

For once, I actually agree with the troll in principle, but the fact is that Chinese cars are dangerous.

If they start to produce the same quality as the Koreans, or even better, the Japanese, I would buy their vehicles…but they would also have to do something about that pesky thing called human rights before I would EVER buy a Chinese vehicle.

      • Why do you call me a troll? Didn't I go over you with about this, I'm a moderate not a liberal. Yes, I might not be as conservative as most on here bu that doesn't make a troll.

    • hiatttn says:

Hey easy everybody. Every lemon I've ever had was a chevy except the one I got now and I was looking at the data plate the other day and it was made in canada. Like I said a lot of chevys are lemons and I think its due to the work enviroment created by the unions. What p.i.s.s.e.s me off is that pontiac is no more. I had a 98 grand am that was awsome and my parents have owned 4 pontiacs and they were all awsome and dependable cars not to mention they look cool. Its sad that this is happening to our auto industry and I feel for the employees that are losing thier jobs but i hold the UAW responsible for this. We used to have the best auto industry in the world. Oh I also forgot to mention our left wing leaders refusal to open more drilling has helped this come about.

    • Endstatism says:

They look nice at the show, but their quality control and regard for safety is nil.

      • Understandable…but is a Ferrari safe? How about a Lambo? Those cares aren't built for safety but for speed.

You have the get over the old stereotype of Chinese cars not being safe..they're changing that. I wouldn't be surprised if their cars will one day be better than Japanese or Germans…but of course, that will take a few decades.

Are you just chuming ? Or blowing smoke?

    • 911Patriot says:

Why don't you move to China asap while you are at it!

      • I think I might…I wonder how Hong Kong is this time of year

Seriously….All I said is the cars look pretty great at the auto show and I'm labeled a leftist, liberal. So just because I don't like Americrap cars I'm not a conservatist ?

  73. Rogers_Sense says:

Isn' it hypocritical we make sure our business cant perform here under cap and trade and high tax crap. It seems liberals are fine to let business pollute other countries like China,Russia and the like just dont pollute here? Isn' the world connected, what about the broader picture? This environmental stuff all about control and condescending people saying im better than you, we dont pollute but lets buy all our crap from China who does?
How can these people sleep at night? IT IS TIME FOR A THIRD PARTY!

    • lawbama1 says:

Oh!!!!!!!!! They did not tell you about the secret bubble that the US is under so that pollutants from other countries will not make it into "OUR" atmosphere. Those countries that dont give a dam about Global Warming. Russia is buying every Big SUV they can get their hands on. When are we gonna wake up to reality here.

    • Zymogene says:

That was the first thing I noticed when we were on our clean air kick decades ago. The companies left because they couldn't afford the restrictions and shipped them to China, and now they have the issues. Nothing really changed or was fixed, just shifted the problem to another area.

    • Nitro says:

Hi Roger, I have been a staunch Republican for a long time now, but I think I am beginning to agree about a third party…I am disgusted with both parties.

  74. Rob Y. says:

That's how the Teamsters are, worst union I have ever been in.

  75. Boopster says:

Hmmm, China owns most our debt, Government and UAW own most of GM, GM will import Chinese built cars to the U.S..Need more information on this proposed deal.

  76. Rogers_Sense says:

The big problem with unions anymore is that they dont reflect their membership, they reflect the big business of unions. I know last thing i want is one more group having a infulance on my job im fine just being between the corporation and myself, I don't need a union to make things worse i cut my own deals.

  77. Rob Y. says:

The Liberals in the government don't really care about Global Warming or whatever they are calling it now. It is another trick to gain control over the masses. The Federal Government is cutting spending on Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars. I am all for gasoline powered cars, don't get me wrong. But, Hydrogen Cars are much better than Electric Hybrids. The exhaust is O2 and you don't have to worry about disposing of a battery cell. You don't lose performance, like on the hybrids and your fuel is water! I am wondering if General Electric is a manufacturer of the hybrid battery cells? I know they make the wind turbines. I am wondering why the government is pushing for all electric sources of power?

    • Zymogene says:

I was around during the last "global freeze". So many of the homes switched to electric heat and such to have affordable "clean" heat. They banned fireplaces and wood burning stoves and anything that wasn't electric was pretty frowned upon. Unfortunatly they never took into account that electric isn't always reliable, some areas would go for weeks at a time when the breeze blew, forget tragic storms and such. I don't like the idea of not having alternatives before they cram their next new idea down our throats or have a clue the expense, drain, time or "rationing" they have planned. How can you push an electric car and at the same time plan to ration energy? Long before any grid is in place or even areas to charge up your vehicle. Makes no sense….cart before the horse again. We've had vehicles that got alot more mileage and this hydrogen car shows the ideas are out there….but just like this, they have stopped and silenced it to continue with their agenda. I don't believe for a second our environment has squat to do with their plans.

    • rrd724 says:

So when they shut the power down we'll all be immobilized.

    • texasray says:

Well they can build Hydrogen Fuel cell cars, but a country full of jobless people won't buy many. I guess the goverment can buy them and give them away. Of course their manufacture will be outsoured China, as soon as possible.

  78. Dustyluv says:

Looks like the unions are getting their just reward for being PIGS.

Thanks UAW for all your compromises…

  79. This is really of no suprise, for years GM has been kept afloat by its overseas sales. The only reason that GM did not post a loss last year (maybe it was two years ago) was because of the huge profit from their overseas plants. Ford and GM have wanted to bring specific car models that were designed overseas to the US for a while, but the major differences in saftey rules and regulations have prevented them from taking the leap.

  80. 5942marine says:

As Quoted in the article "GM is planning to market made in China cars to American consumers as early as 2011"

Haaa, now this is funny. Does that mean the UAW workers get to keep that black room where they sit all day?

    http://www.whywevoted.com

  81. Maybe it sounds funny, but I can assure you that some politician is making a lot of money off of this one.
    Maybe some Union Officials also.

  82. RoxannaDanna says:

Oh, I can see it now…. thousands of Chinese car recalls due to lead based paints!!!!

LMAO… now won't that just be priceless!

  83. RoxannaDanna says:

This should surprise no one, although it does surprise me. .LOL After all, we owe the Chinese Billions of $'s.

But if GM is trying to dig out of their hole, this is not the way to do it. I'm not sure Americans are inclined to drive Chinese made cars. They are going to have to do a helluvan ad campaign to sell this to the public. And I hate to say it but I think the Volt isn't going to do so hot, either.

The only way to create a public desire for small cars is to raise gas prices. You connect those dots… it's not hard to see where it will go.

    • Zymogene says:

Right now, we have so many un-employed, wages have dropped for the majority of the people, they could give 20,000 for my car to intice me to trade it in, and I still would have to say no…..because the cars are too expensive and many can't risk more monthly payments. Expensive to insure and to repair. I'm getting older….sorry but the old bones can't get out of cars that are the size of a cracker box, laying on the ground.. Small cars won't sell to families, especially with many of our newbies to our country having tons of kids with car seats and booster seats and such. If I'm to conserve gas and limit my driving, then it's got to have room for more than a couple rolls of paper towels to haul stuff home…..or be really, really, really, really, cheap to own, drive, insure and repair.

      • RoxannaDanna says:

        We are in complete agreement.

Most Americans don't WANT smaller cars for a number of reasons, some that you already pointed out. That's why SUVs and F150's have been such great sellers. But when the price of gas hits $4 or $5 a gallon, again, Americans will change their behavior. Less driving, fewer vacations, etc. People will pay for what they want, too. If they want bigger cars, they will pay for the upkeep and fuel for them. That is the right of every American. They should be able to drive WHAT THEY WNAT TO DRIVE and not have that dictated by the government.

A car that can support 2 car seats and 2 adults and much of nothing else, just won't have a big market here.

      • RoxannaDanna says:

    • cmjerred says:

The thing about what you said is that most of the American population won't have any idea that they are driving foreign made cars…They will think that "of course it's made in America….it's a Chevy…." I contend that a lot of the population has no idea what's going on because they either refuse or are too busy to pay attention to any of this!

    • larrypage says:

You're spot on about the debt to the Chinese, but I think the rest of it goes deeper. The Obama Administration is clearly doing all it can to take control of the private sector. Suppose next year, or maybe 2011, the only choice that Americans will be GM (read: Chinese) cars?

      • RoxannaDanna says:

Oh absolutely. That's exactly what they have planned.

You will be taxed for driving or purchasing anything other than a GM or you will be taxed to death at the gas pump in order to FORCE you to buy a "more fuel efficient" GM or both.

I'm sure they'd love to see Ford fold. And TheOne might try to do anything he can to make that happen to Ford.

  84. detestObama says:

I mentioned that GM will go overseas A week ago, and I think GM is on the road to build all their cars in another country, because of Obama.
Obama is strongarming GM at every turn, Primarily because he is so indebted to the Union. Because Obama's new Cap-and-Trade policies will cost GM out of the United States. Obama is using Illegal tactics like fireing the CEO, and telling GM what they may do, how they may do it, and when they may do it.

Obama is supporting the Union right out of existance!

    • 357ben says:

I think that when all is said and done, during the Obama presidency, most if not all manufacturing will go over seas!! When you add it all together, Cap-and-Trade, higher taxes, punishing regulations, not to mention the threat of hostel government take-over!!

      • Zymogene says:

Exactly. For the life of me, how can you have a service economy, when no-one can afford the services? I didn't get how a credit based economy would work either. I don't understand how any country would want to be dependant on any other country for basic life necessities because of "sanctions" and any other ability to cut off or control another nation. It's seems they are destroying us in any way possible.

      • detestObama says:

357ben; You are very correct. What Obama is doing, is killing the jobs he is trying to protect. He is an IDIOT.

      • Jerseygal says:

And just how will the US continue to run a war if all our industry and most of our technology moves out of the US? The hostile gov't takeover may not be the one in DC. It is definitely cause for concern, if not action.

    • Zymogene says:

And our jobs along with them.

    • stang289 says:

gms parts are all chinese any way whats the difference or mexican ! all saturn vues are made in mexico along with the suburban the parts even for are chinese . if american cars stink its because there not really american and havent been for over ten years now !!

      • detestObama says:

stang289; The reason we want the American car manufactures in american is that they have hundreds of thousands of jobs here. Even though the foreign cars are made here, all the profits leave back to the foreign country, never to be seen again.

A big part of the equasion here, is that American people would rather buy foreign made goods, because they are cheaper, etc., but this is a big reason why our domestic companies go overseas to escape the higher labor costs, but even more, is there aren't any environmental costs, and we pay next to the highest taxes in the world, with taxes escalating , and our own government has to may regulations, and restrictions, and crooked Unions, etc.
This means all foreign made goods, not just cars. Domestic consumers have forced our companies to go overseas. I don't see anything that Obama is doing that will change this, in fact, Obama is promoting companies to leave, with his programs. Cap-and-Trade, Card-Check, Gross taxes, and excessive regulations, and of course crooked unions.

    • Cellguy1995 says:

Sad part is that this has been a long time coming. Our lovely government has been dishing out tax breaks to foreign auto manufacturers for quite some time and has not been charging them any extra for making them outside the country and not keeping manufacturing standards up with ours. So of course big auto in USA would struggle and be faced with the precarious situation they are in now. Our government has held our manufacturer's to a much higher standard with regards to pay to workers, clean air restrictions, etc. but has not made foreign manufacturer's pay higher taxes when they made them overseas and gunked up the air and paid people squat for wages to make these cars. Pretty easy to get more research money when you sell a car that cost you less to make for slightly less in the US, versus the big 3 getting charged with fees for not complying with rising regulations that they can't afford to meet.

I WILL NOT DRIVE A CHINESE GM CAR! For too long GM has supported America and has been a symbol as much as apple pie. Help save our domestic auto makers

  85. vulture09 says:

remember, we're supposed to be a "service" economy…
It's heck for us engineering students.

  86. I read this story yesterday. WTF? Thats almost all I have to say. Its just another example of how China is getting stronger and we are getting weak. Until our government can quit spending and running huge deficits we are the debtor.
So, Step one GM gets our money, Step two Obama seizes control, Step three UAW takes concessions, Step four….. GM becomes Shanghaied by the new Socialists. Really, just ugh.

  87. Minuteman79 says:

Whatever happened to "I will make or save 3 million jobs?". Or was he talking about making those jobs in China? Are we using this to pay off some of our debt?…Doubtfull. It's a bad deal, and you have to wonder if any of the UAW workers are starting to regret their vote.

    • CULATR2 says:

THOSE WOULD BE SERVICE JOBS. The only problem is, service jobs have little multiplier effect on the economy like manufacturing. We blew it on the manufacturing front and sold our birthright to the Japanes, CHinese and Koreans. Heck, even the Germans make better cars with BMW, AUDI, VW, and Mercedes. VW is expanding in America despite the downturn.

Oh, but we don't want to talk about that. That would be TELLING THE TRUTH. The proponents of the New World Order want to weaken America by taking money out of the hands of the moderately wealthy, making the lower classes mad at the moderately wealthy, and turning humanity into a mass of worker class servants to the super rich and their manipulated government socialists. Moving value added industries out of the U.S. only serves to weaken us and lower our standard of living when all the multiplier effect value added activities go offshore.

    • Zymogene says:

LOL….That number was higher when it started for new jobs, it got lower and then included "save" jobs….and no way to prove it. I believe the "global" world had more job stimulus than it's going to have here.

    • MikeinIdaho says:

He didn't say WHERE he was going to create or save those jobs now, did he!

  88. alntht says:

Uh-oh, the UAW is gonna be upset…

    • cmjerred says:

No they won't….the UAW now owns a large portion of GM stock…I forget the exact amount, but it's either 50 % or 35%, either way the UAW now has a lot of their people on GM's board. Now that they will benefit from making the company profitable, they will do what ever it takes including moving the company oversea's.

      • vulture09 says:

Like Glenn said before the election, the UAW workers are gonna find out they've been back-stabbed when they are all holding pink slips and some guy in China named Soo Chan-Lai is doing their job for a penny on the dollar.

      • vulture09 says:

  89. Zymogene says:

I've got my VUE and it gets good gas mileage, I can get in and out with ease, take my dog, do my shopping and take a trip…….The idea of wanting anything else just doesn't cross my mind. I am afraid they want to make sure we loose our ability for ease of travel (or escape) to control or limit our movement.

Hi wacveteran, I am not sure the union is of any benefit to anyone anymore, except maybe the government, and that, not for long…as it seems many of the union jobs are being shipped to Mexico and other foreign lands for the cheap labor…not that prices adjust according to the lower wages, just more money in the manufacturers pocket, and I am sure if there is a way into the US treasury. There is absolutely no thought for the middle class American worker…We will soon be a nation of servants….Maids, butlers, cooks, etc. for the elitist of this nation! Oh I am sure we will qualify for food stamps, and of course remember socialized medicine….looks like they're will be a big turnover in the job market as the workers will be dropping like flies waiting for that wonderful medical care that our caring government is going to supply to us! What you just posted I cannot argue against. What bothers me with the word greed, is that it has become a government buzzword. They throw it around to give themselves the opportunity to paint entire industries and all corporations as a problem. Government empowers themselves to intervene to create a new law or regulation that exacerbates the problem. Government fixes nothing. They should just let capitalism work. Without all the other crap the market could regulate itself.

Could I ask what modifications you have made on your Lancer OZ Rally?
A friend of mine has a new Porsche GT3, it is quite fast and handles pretty well, especially in "sport" mode. The $120,000 price tag is well out of my range, but all in all it is a nice ride.
I have driven one of the new Mustang GTs, the "pull" is about equal to the Porsche up to about 65 – 70 mph, but won't match the handling and it will never reach the top speed of 194 mph that the Porsche is capable of.
I've had a love of the automobile since I was a kid, and through the years have had some very nice and fast cars, mostly being set up for the straight (drag racing) stretches and all being V8 powered Fords.
I guess I'm old fashioned, I have never gotten into the turbo charged "rice burners".

  102. For my car its a slow process because I tend to blow my cash on designer clothes before my car haha..have to change that habit.

But so far an intake and exhaust system and hopefully a turbo charger by the end of summer and some new rims and a set of toyo drifting tires.

I have to give Ford credit where its due and that's with the Mustang…that's the best car they make in their line up, period.

No worries, your not old fashioned…I started out liking only American muscle but then I slowly started getting into the street racing cars I saw on Fast and the Furious (the original one). Try out Turbo charged…cheap way of adding horse power….beats spending 6 figures buying a sports care when you can make a Honda Civic as fast as a Lambo….takes about $30k in partss
