People make the mistake of thinking foreign policy is complex when it is really not that complicated. Imagine the nations as a neighborhood. It brings the "complexity" down to a thinkable level. If you knew one of your neighbors had bombs and their house guest was trying to get the bombs to do god knows what, wouldn't you feel kind of obligated to act. Your house might be a target. Dont let the guise of "foreign policy" trick you into thinking that things are more complicated then they are. They say that the secret to genius is to see things from the right viewpoint and then its a simple problem and the solution is obvious. Shrink the world down to a neighborhood and things will seem much simpler.
I say Nuke the bad lands were the bastards are. Let the rest of those towel heads that if one more American has there head cut off, one of there major cities will get it.
Time to stop coddling these people. Do not misunderstand me, I am for defending this country and if it takes nuking some desert areas for the Taliban, so be it. Showing them anything else only invites another attack.
I am not in favor of using nukes unless it is a complete last resort, but with these people in control, it will never happen, I don't think they would use them even if we were nuked. \”Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.\”…Winston Churchill
Right On! They just think they're smart, nobody with just 1 functioning brain cell thinks they're smart.
The Indian connection is so obvious, that it makes you wonder, what BHO and his cronies are really up to.
Oh Bing! That was the sound of the light globe above my head turning on.
At 1 billion people, and the biggest democracy in the world, it doesn't make sense that they would be ignored, but the reason is clear. unlike Pakistan & Afghanistan, India is not a potential customer for US weapons. they design & build their own, and buy from Russia, so even though India would like to be an ally of the west, not a customer, so who cares
Declassified memos PROVE that Nancy Pelosi WAS briefed on Enhanced Interrogation Technics including there use as early as 4 Sept. 2002. She was briefed on multiple occasions along with other members of Congress.
NANCY IS A LIAR!!!

How do we know that Nazi Pelosi is Lying?
We just to to see her, or hear her
The same way we know B.O. is lying, their lips are moving!!
The Taliban and Al Queda are fully exploiting the change in political power in Washington. Hope all of the people who support our current Regime in Washington understand the consequences of cutting the defense budget with an untried President. Hope that those that voted for this regime are fully prepared to live with the fact that The Taliban and Al Queda are after Pakistans nuclear arms and India will not allow that to happen.
After reading the article I cannot believe how Pompous and Naive our current leaders behave in their diplomatic relationships with foreign Allies. Neither Karzai or Zardari have the luxuries for stability and safety that Obama and Biden enjoy everyday. They are dealing with extremely difficult leadership challenges, Challenges that America does not have internally. Perhaps safety and security for there nations take precedence over the corruption charges Biden and Obama are focussing on. Maybe Just Maybe Karzai is focussing on leading his country, eliminating the violence, prior to taking on political corruption which has been rampant in every government for years.
Is it just me or did I observe something wrong yesterday when B.O. was addressing media after meeting with Pakistan and Afghanistan officials. I could swear that I saw the United States flag on B.O.'s left and the Pakistan flag on his right. If I am correct the United States flag should have been on his right and the Pakistan flag on his left. If I am right was this an unintentional or intentional act? B.O. just wears the U.S. flag for fluff. I think he actually hates this country. Anybody else see the flag etiquette abused?
Part 1: Just where does BH0 get the right to tell what a foreign government what it should do or not do? Yes, we are in a war in Afghanistan, why because they allowed terrorists to train and live there. This training cost America 3000+ lives. So we did what any country would do, we came, we saw and we killed. In the process, we gave Afghanistan freedom, not quite as wonderful as ours, but a d@mn good start. Now, unfortunately we have elected a man who is a legend in his own mind, telling Afghanistan that they have to have timetables and benchmarks, well, in my experience in war, there is no such thing. We either fight to win or we just leave, we did it before, in fact today in 1975, Pres. Ford declared the "Viet Nam era (war) over. Ironically, in 1954 on this same day, the French was defeat Pien Dien Phu. BH0 says he wants to win, well explain to me why your commanders wanted 35,000 troops, you gave them 17,000. America knows you don't like the military or the war, so why not just pull us out, stop blaming the problems on Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Part 2:The American military is the best in the world, our Technology is fantastic, what you should be telling Pakistan and Afghanistan is that we are coming, we are going to kick @ss, tell your troops to be ready to join us or die, because if we don't stop them, they will destroy your country and kill your citizens.BH0 let our military go do the job. Stop trying to please the world, you are suppose to be the Preident of the U.S., not the rock star to the world. What's the matter destroying America with your $ ociali$t agenda not good enough, you have to also embarass America as well.
I agree. Let General Petreaus run the show or bring 'em all back. You can't have it both way's
Besides what the heck does a community organizer know about running a war. Or a country for that matter, if we need an ice cream social put together then Obama is our guy. If you need to operate a sophisticated army on the far ends of the planet to defeat a hidden enemy then a Four Star General is your guy.
\”The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom.\”….Sun Tzu
I just want to get on record that this is only the begining. What we have today is breach of american understanding. Regardless of politics Bush understood this is not a war on AMERICA this is a world war. You can not just pull out like you got a phone call from your wife while with your girlfriend. You and everyone needs to ignore the phone and keep going until you win. I KNOW and feel that pakistan is in the midst of what we call sucide by numbers they do NOT have the power or will to take on its own people just like us……now. the best and sadest is for us to intervene and devastate and leave. Also this will never end until Armageddon
I agree about this being a world war, and once again America is saving the rest. We need to go all out to win, but I don't think a segment of the American people have the guts and they figure they can just talk to them, Chamberlain tried it and it didn't work then, it isn't going to work now. When these people have a knife at their throats, I want to hear them try to talk to them.
this is something we all should be concerned with, because if the Pakistani nukes get into taliban hands……..
Don't forget the Indians, they must be going out of their minds.
I'm sure Israel is keeping track of these, their very safety depends on knowing what their enemies are doing, especially the ones with Nuclear capabilities. I believe if it is necessary, Israel will attack without hesitation, regardless of what anyone thinks!! The rest of the world should understand that Israel is a Sovereign Nation and that gives them the right to act in their own best interest. I know these Arab nations don't recognize them as such, but Israel will fight for their right to exist until the end of time.
I see there are very few comments here, is it that everyone is tired of trying to figure out what BHO is going to do. The problem is like most people on this site have pointed out he doesn't know what he is going to do and just shoots from the hip. If the American people are clueless about what actions our president might take, I say we are in a dangerous position. When I was in the military the mark of a good leader was sustained consistant performance of which we have none here.
I don't think he gives a crap about anything foreign. I think he engages foreign affairs because he has to. He is more interested in domestic meddling and social reshaping
It makes me sad that our President is backing away from the good people that need our help. We need to stay and help those people that need our help. There are good people everywhere.
I know this is small potatoes compared to the story, but is it just me or is it pretty interesting that Obama's security adviser is named JIM JONES!!!!!!!
one potato , two potato…..three potato four………very interesting lol
That is too funny. I was literally thinking the same thing.
Hehe I'm glad someone else thought that, too
I their efforts to distance themselves from the Bush administration, B.O.& Co. have deconstructed or weakened alliances that have long been a part of American interest world wide. In thinking that HIS way is the best way and not building on solid principles that are proven, he is making a mockery of American power. Micro managing the military is dangerous, look at the mess LBJ made in the Vietnam War!! But, B.O. thinks HE can do it better!! Using the MSM to make himself look good, giving himself Plausible Deniability to anything that might go wrong at any time makes him look as weak as he really is. He is so afraid he is going to look like Bush on any subject, he is willing to let it cloud any sound judgment he might have. Community Organization does not count as foreign policy experience in the post 9/11 world we live in, listening to people who do have that experience would be advantageous to B.O. at this time. Will he listen, I doubt it. I think he will continue to meddle in things that are best left alone, things that have served the United States well in the past, until someday in the near future we are attacked from within by a foreign entity left to fester right under our noses.
We will never defeat extreme muslims fighting wars the way we do. You cannot fight a war in a politically correct manor. War is an endall situation, This means that you take what ever steps are necessary to destroy your enemies ability to wage war. You can drag it out for years with untold casualties or you end it quickly with untold casualties. We need to give pakistan a warning to get clear and then bomb the Taliban into paradise.
Time to test some of our nukes, on the Taliban. Send them to there 79 virgins…..let them died for their God, we will live for ours !!!
I hope Obama doesn't get to reckless as he analyses this problem. I have to say, from what I've seen of Obama so far, he has not Impressed me in the least. He shoots from the hip, and asks questions later! Afgan, and Pakistan's leadership are not Impressed with Obama, and don't trust him!
The problemis that when he shoots from the hip, he shoots himself in the foot!
Does anyone feel that we are backing out of our support of all those governments in the middle east that helped with our war on terror. Even sending extra troops to Afghanistan says that we don't trust the government that's in place when coupled with our actions. Afghanistan differed from Iraq in that we formed an alliance with insurgents in Afghanistan to replace the Taliban. We were invited into Afghanistan. Obama seems to be treating the war in Afghanistan like the local government doesn't have any say in our actions. It sounds like we were not asked to send 20,000 new troops to Afghanistan.
Yes I feel that we are backing out to fast. I don't think that our President really cares about the Afghanistan people or even us We the People. Our troops need to stay until the job is done. I don't think that very many people remember September 11, 2001 or the day afterwards. We need to remind our fellow Americans what happened on September 11, 2001 the days that followed that day. Your comment was a great one.
You're right, that's why it's called the 912 Project!
I agree with you triper57. We are backing out to fast. We need to stay until the job is done and really help those people.
It's almost as though Obama is trying to turn our friends into foes and vice versa. Maybe the world really has turned upside down because if you listen to the Australians, they seem to be the only ones who have it right side up.
It is in our best interest to put this threat of the Taliban very high on the President's priority list. The reprecussions of the Pakistani Military failing and the Taliban gaining control of their nuclear arsenal is unimaginable. If the Taliban were to get control of that arsenal, America faces the constant threat of a nuclear attack on its own soil, the total collapse of the global economy, and the possibility our troops abroad will be the target of a mass scale attack that could wipe out foreign governments in the process.
I agree. America needs to take care of itself. America has its own problems. However, being as powerful as we are, we have a responsibility to make sure our interests abroad, as well as at home, are protected and secure from hysteria and misuse.
The Taliban need to be pushed back and they need to be pushed back now. The longer we wait, the longer and the tougher it will be when we decide to jump in with both feet. The more ground they gain in Islamabad, the more resources they gain, the more damage they cause, the more money we will spend, and the larger the threat will become and we will be looking at another Blackhawk Down incident.
Reminder this is NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER. If we have been slufffing off talking to GOD, take a moment and talk to Him about all of this.
Amen
And a reminder that the president has made a point of not participating!
So Pakistan, which has allowed us to traverse its airspace, is no longer a friend to the administration? Afghanistan, where we worked so hard to root out the Taliban leadership, is no longer relevant? We are proving to the world that we do not have the ability to keep consistent. Those that are SUPPOSED to lead do nothing but follow or they do nothing at all.
Something is fishy here. I don't know what it is, but it smells terrible.
Clinton took a similar tactic when he was in office and, while he was friendly to so many nations, he was a laughing stock among our enemies. UBL was emboldened during this administration; he actually bombed the towers and nothing happened to him. Somalia was a fiasco where we could have cleaned up but instead we ended up with "Blackhawk Down". Obama is following these same policies which are going to shore up our enemies.
My take is we need to fix our issues at home. We cannot be saving the world from itself right now because our own house is crumbling yet we pay to prop up the mansions of our enemies.
Let us come back to our basics. It will be a sacrifice on the part of this generation, but I am willing to make sacrifices for my children. Anyone that isn't willing to make such sacrifices as not having everything they want right now I personally see as unpatriotic as this country was founded upon principles of righteous living, yet we have become gluttonous in our prosperity and instead of allowing it to pass on, we are spending it on ourselves. This cannot continue.
Let us stop giving aid so freely. If aid is to be given it must be done with strings. You want to see political dictatorships crumble, make them pay for their dictatorships.
Let us become independent of the rest of the world. This includes finding our own energy (oil, coal, natural gas, wind, solar, whatever.) and harnessing it properly.
Let us protect our borders from those that wish to do us harm, yet still follow the principles that we were built on. Always remember the saying, "Give me your tired, your poor. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The retched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed, to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door." Remember that there is a door. People must enter through the door. Let them come in legally and enjoy the privileges of this country; but they MUST do so legally.
Let us be good to each other. We must be neighbors, and remember that we must be united.
Let our Constitution be defended by those that take the oath to defend it (military, civilian, and politician alike).
Let us remember God
Let us be a grateful nation rather than a nation of whiners.
Let us denounce the evils of easy credit to put off to tomorrow what you can get today.
Let us arm our law abiding citizens that would be armed so we can protect ourselves, not from each other, but from tyrannical regimes that would threaten us if it is required.
Let our government fear the people the way our people must fear GOD.
When we do these things we will become a truly free nation again. We will be prosperous individually and collectively. We will have the ability to withstand all things that come our way.
From your mouth to Obama's big ears!
Conditions in Afghanistan differ from those in Iraq, so a surge strategy will have to take that into account. BH0 is certainly off to a shaky start with Afghanistan and Pakistan. Wasn't it only last week that he was speaking about the weakness of their gov'ts? If he lets his generals on the ground do what they deem necessary rather than reacting to his far left supporters, the entire region will benefit. Either way, this will p o his far left base. He is such a novice at this, it would best serve all involved (especially our military) if he let our generals work with the Afghan and Pakistan military to get the job done. Taliban is looking forward to politics interfering with our operation, and the military does not need a directive like,'when you see the whites of their eyes, call the White House for permission to fire.'
On this national day of prayer, I pray especially for our military fighting an enemy who wishes to destroy us all.
Afghanistan and Iraq differ widely in the spectrum of military operations. The Iraqi Surge worked because the fighters there are weak when confronted, the terrain is simple and easily navigated, and we can use our strongest support and fire-power resources. A surge in Afghanistan would be like herding pigs through a slaughter house. The mountains and caves go largely unchecked and unmapped. Afghanistan is definitely a fight for the Navy SEALs, Delta Force and Berets, and Recon Marines.
Thanks for articulating how widely the two differ. Will BH0 utilize these greatly skilled forces to accomplish this mission? I certainly hope so. Thank you for your service, and the knowledge you share with our group.
Likewise the resupply route into Afghanistan run over Pakistani roads nad through numerous tribal territories. The entire region is one rat's nest of challenges to understand and eventually overcome. This is far more complex than the conflicts dealt with in the past. The solutions to the regions problems are not neat little cookie cutter approaches.
The Taliban has no moderates, google "taliban archaeology" and see what these folks wer up to pre 9/11. They have no use for any other culture and will do whatever they please to impose their control over the area and the people. Genocide is not outside the realm of their beliefs.
We should all be prepared to be horrified on one level or another, the resolution of Afghani and Pakistani problems will be anything but neat. I don't have all the answers, but I do have prayers that solutions can be found to free these countries from tyrannical control and let the people be free and safe.
Thanks for the reply, and good insights on the issue.I certainly hope those with the power to make policy realize, as you pointed out, that there is no such thing as a 'moderate' Taliban. No Taliban member will agree to 'fight nice.'
These wars against Muslim Extremists will continue forever. What we need to do in Afghanistan and Pakistan is try to get the civilians to leave and then just take the mountains down around the Taliban. We need to get serious with this war and finish it and then come home. As long as some or all Islamic Extremist can read their Korans and find that it says to kill the infidels and annihelate the jews, we will always be fighting until the battle of Armageddon. As for me, I'm ready for Christ's return. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess the Jesus Christ is Lord.
Boy the hippies that voted for the current idiot to end the wars aren't going to be happy about this. Off the subject; how about that great American state of Montana. Bravo, way to go Montana. I hear Utah and Texas are considering the same for their states. In case you haven't heard, Montana has just exercised the 10th Amendment and nullified all federal gun laws with-in the state. Baby steps, that's one soon to be three. We will get the government listening to us soon enough. Keep up the good work Patriots.
the congressman from Utah that was on Glenn Beck today said there going to adopt a stronger version of the Montana bill. I f I heard the congressman right he said he was a 912 er. If he is on this site I would like to tell him he is a patriot
I guess alot of people have not notice because it was done while all the scare of the swine flu was going on. Obama has gotten 20 Billion to have ready for the refugees from Hamas, Palenstine and Pakistan. So some of those refugee will be coming here. To me it means he is bringing some of the terrorist here maybe knowing he is or not. Just like when Clinton brought the Solomalians here. States are being paid to take them in. Wake up and smell the roses. I know my son whom is in the Army National Guard has been told he could end up going to Pakistan instead of Afganastan. So get ready. I just don't understand why we just don't pull out all of our troops over there and let them all fight among themselves. It is all tribal to start with and has been going on since the start of time.
It looks like BHO is going to have to deal with the problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan for a lot longer than he anticipated. He's learning the hard way that this is not going to be resolved anytime soon and this war is going to be laid right as his feet. I don't have any confidence in his foreign policy abilities and even less in Biden's. About the only ones I have any confidence in at all is our military. I just pray he listens to them and doesn't think he knows better than them.
The problem is that he really believes that EVERYONE likes him and that he can solve EVERYONEs' problems if only we wopuld listen to him and do what he says. A narcissist of the first magnitude!
If BHO and Hillary are so smart, why haven't they included the Indian Prime Minister in their discussions? If India would put their disputes with Pakistan on the back burner, the Pakistani military, now being heavily used to patrol the Indian border, could be freed up to fight the Taliban. It is not to India's advantage to have a flood of Pakistani refugees, nor is it their wish to have a nuclear armed Taliban next door.
Because they feel that the Indian Government is inconsequential. They do however have a large stake in this Taliban insurgency in Pakistan and could play an important roll in its solution.
