It is sickening and friend, I'm not sure how we are going to stop this train wreck from happening. We are a nation riding a train being pulled by a 19th century locomotive and we are about to enter a tunnel.

Im glad Rupret Murdoch is feeling good about the economy. I really care what that old billionaire thinks. I'm sure he is in touch with the reality we are all facing. He probably wouldn't mind if his children were going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. He could write a check. Thanks Rupert, Im glad to know you are not concerned.

    • hogryder says:

Mr Buffet's stock is trading at $9,000 a share. Of course the worst is over. This old fool has stated many times that he wants to die penniless, that HIS family is well taken care of and he wants to give all of his money away. Of course a socialist/facist government is his cup of tea, he's not going to be around to see the end results. I'm sure he has billions locked away somewhere to help his family out. As far as the rest of us are concerned…oh well. I'm sure he and Rupert "feel our pain."

  3. you know guys and gals i have this bad pain building in my gut and it gets wose every day when i'm being mislead by our gov. and to say everything is getting better when it is so obvious that it is not is insulting not only to me, but to all those who have lost thier jobs. Let me tell you i was a twenty dollar an hour carpenter before this, now i'm making 12 an hour just so i could have work what little there is avaliable at this time and i have not seen no improvements so i can safely say the worst is not over yet and i have to wonder how do you take debt money produce gov. jobs and expect it to fix anything hum money goes out gov. gets less of the money back in taxes
we have to borrow more and more and more and more to keep this kind of thinking going makes no sense. i worry for these kind of thoughts that are being put forward people have stopped using logical thinking and believe now in false statistcs.

Elitists divided on whether to quickly sink economy and replace it with new world order, or set in motion long, agonizing depression.
On the eve of the 2009 Bilderberg Group conference, which is due to be held May 14-17 at the 5 star Nafsika Astir Palace Hotel in Vouliagmeni, Greece, investigative reporter Daniel Estulin has uncovered shocking details of what the elitists plan to do with the economy over the course of the next year. ARE THEY INVITED?

  5. Every day my (almost) 13 year old comes home and says, "Did you know . . . " and then proceeds to tell me some kind of crazy thing. Turns out that when he gets done with his work at school he's reading back copies of "Ripleys Believe it or Not." I finally told him, hey, just because someone writes something down doesn't make it true . . .

  6. Don’t believe the hype it’s a sequel, this is all an illusion.

    Free Your Mind

  7. They just want you to spend and invest. Speaking of Rupert Murdock, here is an interesting article and some legislation that may apply, please read and contact your Reps:
    Article: http://www.infowars.com/rupert-murdoch-internet-w...
    1) S 773 Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (Introduced in Senate by Senator Rockefeller !!)
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s11...
    2) S 778 To establish, within the Executive Office of the President, the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor. (Introduced in Senate by Senator Rockefeller !!)
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s11...

Senator Rockefeller is the Nephew of Billionaire Banker David Rockefeller and Great Grandson of Nelson Aldrich who gave us the Aldrich Plan (1911) which opened the door for the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and the 16th amendment. How has that worked out for us? This family looks out for themselves not for Americans.

  8. les_13 says:

Sure it's "fixed," just like sporting events where the result has been planned and coerced before hand. If the plan doesn't work yet, all they have to do is bus a group of irate individuals, paid by ACORN with stimulus money, to coerce honest businesses.
    .

  9. bobhertz says:

I guess that both Buffet and Murdoch got their copies of "Animal Spirits" from the White House. Unbelievable!

The worst will NOT be over until Obama is gone…

  10. SharoninPhx says:

Can anyone define fixed for me? And can someone tell me how we got to the point of calling it broken?
You know what I really want to know is what is everybody's general definition of a fixed economy –
Now that the administration has their hooks in the economy how do they define fixed?
Based on our founding fathers beliefs in what our free enterprise, capitalistic society should strive for, how on earth does it get called broken?

Is there a general consensus among us intelligent, informed Americans as to how you fix an economy that is based on the ebb and flow of supply and demand – with the ever changing dynamics of production, invention, and consumption how do you fix it – how was it broke to begin with?

  11. floridagal says:

I would like to see legislation brought forth on negating all the "perks" that our politicians receive… like health care for one! (The thought that I might be paying for Ted Kennedy's brain tumor treatment gives me the willies…even I don't have health care insurance!) I'm sure they have some obnoxious pension plan that we regular citizens don't have . It simply isn't fair and not what our founders were thinking when you come forth to serve…. term limits!! Problem is I'm sure there is no politician willing to underwrite this.. So how do we regular folk do it? Does anyone have any good ideas? Oh… did I forget to mention that I'm totally against National Health Care!

    • Sunfiregm says:

Hi Floridagal, I too believe that the only way to fix this is by term limits. There is a website that is gearing up to get all 535 congressional seats changed out with people who will sign on to a specific set of criteria and one of them is term limits. The site is: http://goooh.com "Get out of our house" The site is gaining momentum. It is a necessary start to any real change in the way congress does business. Check it out. If all the 9-12er's were on board with this site we could start the necessary change towards returning to our Constitution and get back our "Republic". The guy who started this site has a book out called "Revolution, Get Out Of Our House" his name is Tim Cox. Check it out.

  12. floridagal says:

So far, I like what I see!  Thank you so much!!!  Will let you know more after I have had time to more fully investigate….. but so far, there appears to be HOPE!!!!!!   Yeahhhhhhh!!!!

  13. SerratusPI says:

Great news guys! The worst is over! That means when the unemployment numbers come out tomorrow, we won't see another half million or more jobs lost…right? Oh, and thank goodness Obama got his stimulus package in place. Did you all know that we have now "saved or created" 150,000 jobs? So that's 1.5 million jobs lost and 150,000 saved since the passage of the $800 billion bill, or in other words, for every 1 job gained, we've lost 10. Wow, isn't government great!

    • powerrc says:

Thats their plan fill the news with recession is over stories, we did it stories and everyone will go out and buy stuff to make it true. Guess what, I for one am not buying it or anything else unnessassary right now…
Taxation without representation is what is occuring now and you know what happens after that. Get prepared America…

    • dmacdaddy30 says:

The worse part is that this is only to get worse as many of the companies are on hold right now as they are waiting to see if the layoffs are enough. They will look at the numbers after 2nd Quarter and then at the end of the summer they will begin to layoff more as they try to make budget for year end assuming the economy does not improve. With gas prices going up and already an unemployment number at about 9%, plus the shut down of just about every car company over the summer, I can not see how this is going to get better. I have to think that the unemployment rate is only to go up in the 3rd/4th quarter to probably close to 15%. I hope I am wrong, but all the signs point to that mark right now. I have already survived three layoffs in the last 6 months and I am not sure I can handle going through more in another 3 to 6 months.

      • SerratusPI says:

You're exactly right. Things are not changing at all, and this trend will easily continue through the rest of the year and longer if policies are not changed. We are seeing a repeat of what FDR did in the great depression where he ultimately declared war on business. Sure government jobs were created, but more private sector jobs were destroyed, so in the end the depression continued. I don't know if we'll be at 15% at the end of the year, but I wouldn't rule it out. Sorry to hear about your personal employment struggles. I feel kind of lucky because I'm in school right now which makes me somewhat immune to what is happening. However I don't know what to expect when I finish and enter the job market myself. God speed man.

  14. TaxiDude says:

Maybe they're talking the market up so they can short their positions and have 'great crisis' ala George Soros when it crashes again. Hmmmmmm?

  15. SharoninPhx says:

So in our free market system when a consumer gets overextended in debt and spends more money than they have, they might live well for awhile until it catches up with them – And I have been through it and had to go through bankpuptcy. Then, you pick yourself up and learn some really good lessons, and become more successful because of it.
Why did it all of a sudden become not okay to fail???? Why is not okay to say, "No, I can't buy that I can't afford it.

Consumers have the ultimate power over a company
Consumers dictate who prospers and who does not
Consumers decide the market trends and whether you as business need to get competitive.
Consumers buy the best product at the best price and guess what? If company A sells the same thing as company B but for half the price, who should prosper?
When the consumer does not have the money company A and B better make that product for less or lose the consumer $$$$$

Welcome to The Nanny States of America – we have just lost our power as consumers in the marketplace.
Therefore, free enterprise no longer works for us.

  16. Shadrach says:

This also reminds me of a hypochondriac. You can tell them they look like they don't feel well and within minutes their on deaths doorstep, but in reality they are fine. But trying to convince them there is nothing wrong with them, even a Dr. has trouble doing that!! I think this is where the U.S. is economically speaking. The Democrats and Obama convinced the American people the economy was sick from "Bush's failed policies" and they were the only hope for America. The majority of them believed it, without question!! Now we truly are sick from Obama's "failed policies" but getting the majority of American to believe this is a real problem. Even Dr's of economics with charts, graphs and years of expertize cannot convince them we are at deaths doorstep, infected with trillions of dollars worth of germs that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren. We can only hope that somehow, an inoculation will wake the American people up and we rid ourselves of this infection!!

  17. Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Mat 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

Mat 7:29 For he taught them as [one] having authority, and not as the scribes.

  18. acheyjake says:

The economy is "fixed", I have not doubt about that. It is "fixed" to fail.

  19. Jaopfer says:

They won't stop me from speaking, I am not afraid, what are they going to do? They don't allow torture! Two years in jail,… I hope it is in GITMO.

  20. Islandsox says:

This is a beaut! Obama is going to cut 17 billion out of the "wasteful" programs in Washington to prove he is tightening the belt. That comment is to make us believe that he is really watching the pennies up there. Here's the hypocrisy: 41% of the programs he is going to cut were programs Bush recommended be cut. So, he's in essence cutting the ones Bush outlined. Guess he can't find many on his own to cut.

And just because people tell me the economy is fixed, does not make it so. I don't believe them and I will continue to not spend because they are going to spend it for me shortly, just like in the past 2 months.

  21. beckgether says:

Ohhh, did you forget sneaky on purpose?! Hee, hee.

  22. Kathy4Truth says:

This is completly off topic but if you need a break and especially if you grew up in the sixties this will take you down memory lane.

  23. bawnyfwank says:

If one more multi-billionaire comes out and tells me things are peachy I'm going to scream.
It's still hard at my house, how about the rest of you.

  24. bawnyfwank says:

    Off Topic:
How's come we are not talking about that ACORN slimeball GB had on his show yesterday. I could not believe how that went down, and for that guy to yank out the race card on Glenn on his own set was a new low for the Libs.
That dude looked like a greaser that stepped out of a time machine from 1955. November 5, 1955 to be exact

    • bipartisan says:

Glenn should have said "No I'm not afraid of black people, I'm afraid of idiots who think they run the country"

    • Jaopfer says:

What an idiot! I am glad Glenn pulled his microphone and threw him out of the studio, I have wondered why others have not done this in other interviews I have heard, where it turns into a Jerry Springer shouting over each other moment. I can still only listen to one person at a time.

  25. detestObama says:

Lets see now, Warren Buffet said the Economy was fixed. Is Warren saying the market was manipulated?
I'm not sure I would take his advice. Since after he purchased Goldman Sachs, it dropped 60%, and maybe more. After he bought General Electric, it dropped over 60%. That doesn't sound like Intellegent Investing! I'm not going to take his advice, because he is one of the advisers of the Obama Administration. He should know better than to say the market is fixed, with the massive spending that evidently he supports is going to shove us into a state of Depression that may last for decades! Maybe he wants the market to drop another 3000 points, so he may steal companies on the cheap!

  26. OldMarine says:

Gee, we are out of the woods! I guess I'll take my extra $10/week and go fill my gas tank, oops gas prices are going up. Well, maybe I'll order a pizza, What you mean the prices have been raised? Gee, maybe I better go to the store and get some groceries, what you mean $50 only gets me a bag of needed items, like milk and simple food items. Yea the economy is turning around and heading off a cliff. BH0 and congress really stimulated the economy, like 2.1 billion to ACORN, 5.1 billion for the CARE Act, dumping money into auto industries just to give them UAW, and watch them go to bankruptcy. Gee with all this Porkulus money, why didn't someone think about 50-100 billion for social security? $50 billion for Medicare? $50-100 billion for veterans benefits. Gee this would help a large segnent of the American people, you know those that you are suppose to serve, not your select few.

  27. ISEEU says:

Well they can't get all their rods in place as easy if people are expecting a rough future, because then people will be on the guard.

  28. bamaboy says:

With the money they make the economy is okay. The bums should half to live like the common taxpayer. The debt might get paid off if the crooks would pay their taxes.

  29. pbatrs says:

These people are crazy, they have devalued our money, increased our debt until the government stops spending, makes people work, our economy will never recover. They could repay the national debt if they would go after the crooks on Wall St, at Freddie and Fannie, AIG and the rest. These people however gave to much money to Obama and his cronies for that to happen.

    • Sunfiregm says:

Don't forget Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were front and center in the Freddie and Fannie meltdown.

      • pbatrs says:

Barney and Dodd are part of Freddie and Fannie, they are just to dumb to get the millions the others got – I think – but maybe they did.

How about Soros – his name gets you banned from most sites. He was boasting about a great crisis and how he made over a billion. He pulls the puppets strings along with the hollywood nut jobs.

    • acheyjake says:

You are way behind the times of just a few months ago friend. President Obama has been in office for months friend.

  30. Goo says:

No argument needed. The State could not send you this document without having a registered birth on record. This is why the document from the State of Hawaii for Barack Obama is legal. He could not have renounced his own citizenship when he was a child, so he is a legal citizen of the United States. Since this falderall has been going on long enough, I think that's all that needs to be said.

    • BillStrong says:

The question isn't if he is an American citizen , it is if he has dual citizenship , that would disqualify him from being President .

      • Goo says:

He never renounced his citizenship. He is an American citizen. He does not have dual citizenship. Can we get over this, please?

  31. novastramp says:

The Economy is “FIXED” all right, and they have us just where they want us. Deep into debt and hoping our elected officials dig us in deeper. We need to follow Christ’s example and cut off and throw the “Money Changers” from our Constitutional Temple, our halls of government. Until we are freed from the Federal Reserve, a private for Profit Corporation, that controls our own currency we will continue to suffer boom & bust cycles. If President Obama wants to live up to his promise of change, he should listen to his idol Abraham Lincoln who said: The Government should create, issue, and circulate all the currency and credits needed to satisfy the spending power of the Government and the buying power of consumers. By the adoption of these principles, the taxpayers will be saved immense sums of interest. Money will cease to be master and become the servant of humanity. -Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln wanted to continue his war time policy of government issued currency after the war, he was assassinated before it could be accomplished.

    • Sunfiregm says:

There is a website devoted to replacing all 535 members of congress http://goooh.com Check it out.
If we all get together we can make this happen. Check out the book "Revolution, Get Out Of Our House" by Tim Cox as he is the founder of this site.

    • acheyjake says:

      Speaking of money changers…..

I just had a few thoughts come together in a way that I really like. Yes, that has inspired me to write the following new material, at least it is new to me. But, wait. I forgot to mention that I am coming at you from the right ventricle of the heart of flyover country, again. May the freedom of America still be flowing strong through the arteries and veins of the body parts of America in which you, my friends, live.

I am going to write a letter to President Obama and his administration offering to pay about 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax over the next year or two. I will submit press releases to all of the main stream media announcing my intention to pay 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax. I will tell the main stream media that it is my duty to pay a few trillion in personal income tax. I will then hold press conferences at which I will tell the press that I am going to pay 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax. I will bask in the glory of knowing that I have told everyone that I am going to pay 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax. I will bask in the glory of knowing that I am a Patriot of the highest order because I have pledged 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax. The Obamatrons will hold me in the highest esteem for having made such a large commitment to the good of the people. I will tell the Obamatrons that my 4 trillion dollar personal contribution of income tax is for their good and the good of hope and change. I will tell President Obama that I am happy to make the sacrifice of paying 4 trillion dollars in personal income tax because President Obama is the One.

I will then disappear, slither into the darkness, and speak with lawyers and accountants who will tell me how to get a 4.5 trillion dollar tax refund.

This is how Obama plays the game, wouldn’t you agree?

  32. waitaminute says:

Hey guys, let's face the facts. BHO plan has worked. It's blue skies and happy trails from here! Now let us all learn an important lession from all of this. When you are in debt up to your eyeballs and your trying to figure out what to do next, just borrow and spend more money. You can tell the government owned bank that your stimulating your portfolio ;)

  33. Islandsox says:

I don't feel that way yet, what did they say that caused you to think that? I'll tell you what MSNBC said that got me riled up and it was this: less than 20% of Americans are conservative. How do they know? Maybe less than 20% of conservative Americans don't WATCH their show, but that is a different thing.

  34. americanj says:

Yes, the Obama fix is definetily in. So I guess it is fixed.

  35. SheriS says:

Well, today is not a great day for the Stock Market as it is going to close down $105 at least. It had been up but the "robot" made his statement of his grossly inflated budget and the stock market started going down! People don't like this budget with the trillions and trillions of dollars budgeted with zilch in the bank to cover it and then we will add on the gross socialized medicine with cost trillions more! It seems the robot wants all of us to "show restraint" but HE SEEMS INCAPABLE OF DOING THE SAME WITH THE US BUDGET! The downturn will start happening now as he is throwing more money at a dead horse and hugh debt is the result!

  36. I would much prefer probing questions and digging for facts than the pontifications of cheerleaders reading the press releases.

  37. gsteinbacher says:

Here's what I see happening… We called out BHO on his doom and gloom technique that was scaring the heck out of everyone and causing them to tighten their purse strings. So now he has a few of his key henchmen trying to display more confidence in a worsening market to see if we will loosen up and start spending again, because they have seen that if we don't spend it will continue to get worse no matter how much money they throw at it. If this helps (and it appears that it might be with the recent gain in the stock market) they can use this gain to say see here all you skeptics our plan worked. The only problem with that is they are a day late and a dollar short on this tactic to much ground has been lost even with the recent gains in the market we are doomed to another backslide as more companies fail and jobs are lost..

  38. PirateNPink says:

Ya, have you seen their portfolios lately? They can only go up.

  39. GodHelpUsAll says:

I don't think so. How old are you anyway? They said on fox & friends this morning that the obama admin. is the first, who never shows any kind of prayer on camera, or going to church, because they don't want to "offend" the athiests. I remember….even clinton was in church alot. And back in radio days, they always had prayer, and spoke of God on the radio. And while Bush may stand out the most because he was very religious, he was NOT….. I repeat NOT the first to admit or show himself praying on camera.

  40. Goo says:

    Amen to that.

  41. These billionaires saying that the worst is over makes me think of the guy who has a new widget to sell so he has his employees and the media tell everyone that this new widget is the best widget ever made and will revolutionize the widget industry. The next day widget sales go through the roof and the companies stock price skyrockets filling the widget makers pockets with money based on a story concocted by the billionaire himself. Cause and effect, just the way the media told everyone the economy was tanking under Bush even though in reality it was thriving. Soon people started believing the politically motivated media lies and their bad economy claims became a self fulfilling prophecy. We are in so much debt now, with much more to come, that we are several generations away from any hope of breaking even or controlling inflation so any signs of improvement are merely a mirage that politicians will use to justify their own re-elections.

    • acheyjake says:

Great post friend. I'm looking forward to you coming to OK.

However, I must warn you that if Texas secedes and Oklahoma doesn't follow Texas, I'm Texas bound.

    • Sunfiregm says:

We can change this with term limits and we can get those if we band together to replace all 535 people in the Congress. Check out <a href=”http://goooh.com” target=”_blank”>http://goooh.com The guy who started the site wrote a book called "Revolution, Get Out Of Our House" by Tim Cox. It is doable and it is something we can do together to beat the big special interest groups that buy seats for the current Politicians.

  42. Starkman says:

Does anyone else feel like it's getting to the point where FOX News is approaching CNN in it's levels of untrustworthiness?

    • USMCiNGEN says:

Whatever led you to believe FOX News was more trustworthy than CNN. Organizations are not people, they cannot possess the quality of trustworthiness. I'm not nitpicking language here, either. I mean just what I am saying. You can trust individuals, but never, never…never trust any organization.

    • bawnyfwank says:

I've noticed that both sides are getting more towards the "center"
MSNBC has distanced themselves from the hard left and Fox seems to be reporting more left leaning stuff. I think that is actually probably a good thing

      • ArkCon says:

Until Keith Doberman is gone MSNBC will never be able to claim to be out of the "shadows" of the left.

    • bipartisan says:

What led you that conclusion? Fox news does have too many ads, and they have much more editorial content than hard news. however they do seem to be fair & balanced as they claim. O'reilly does seem to have gone soft lately, but at least Hannity has fired Idiot (colmes)
so my question about what do you mean is not a cynical question but would like to know your reason

    • Jaopfer says:

It is not FOX that is popular, it is some of the people on FOX that make it worth watching. Beck is always right on the mark, with FACTS to back it up. He is prepared to risk his own welfare for his beliefs., very unusual in these worrying times.

  43. maxmillun says:

Why believe that story? Remember, most of the media decides for you and then reports what they want you to know. According to Mr. Murdock… Fox News, and other ventures he runs, did have a very successful quarter. However, do you think that NBC, CBS,or ABC or the Liberal press wants that reported? Have you seen anything reported about a poll taken by CBS that apparently shows that 53.5% of those surveyed disapprove of the way this country is now being run? Guess that was news you should not know, either. Could it be that the media is developing stories, rather than just reporting?

  44. Del47 says:

tell be if i am wrong ,warren was backing obama when he was running for office and Rupert was dumpimg all his money in obama's green wind power

    • detestObama says:

Yes Warren backs Obama, and advices obama. I dought Rupert backs obama in any form. He is an 83 year old consevative. Rupert owns News Corp. and News corp owns Fox news, as well as Wall Street Journal and some conservative publications such as The Weekly Standard. I dought he owns any green holdings, but I do not know.

  45. Lach_in_PA says:

The News even Fox is celebrating the fact that those filing for unemployment fell to 615,000 last month !!!
Remember we are paying all those autoworker 80% of their wages to stay Home !!!
These people are unemployed !!!! How long do you want to pay their wages with our tax dollars?

  46. BrovoSierra says:

I was at a concert the other night and one of the performers said that " …we are in good hands now under President Obama." Every one but me, so it seemed, clapped and cheered. All I could think of is " just wate till you get the bill" Well, my wife poked me in the ribs and I chuckled at what a perceptive woman she is. Later, as we were walking home we talked about it and I told her what I was thinking and she started laughing because according to her I said it out loud and people were looking at the heretic. I must be getting old. It was worth the price of the ticket. Yes, I would agree the economy is fixed, it's been fixed from the start, or should I say the fix has been in from the start. All we can do is strike those banks and businesses that execpt unjust money from the Government and support local people you know and trust.

    • Loved the story and your analysis! I'm convinced the left has lost contact with reality and the only part of their minds they use is their emotions.

  47. continued….stupid line/character limits….damn..why does this only affect some of us!!! EH BECK..fix it!!!
So, look at your home value in 6-9 months and if it is the same as today, say hello to "stagflation" for the next couple of years. If it is up, the recession is over. If it is down, Obama's stimulus/bailout will go down as the biggest joke of an economic solution since the New Deal under FDR, which did NOTHING to turn around the Great Depression, in fact his own Treasury Secretary said it made things worse and just gave us huge debt.

  48. The market is flat right now and you are right, the stimulus had NOTHING to do with it, seeing as how the money in the stimulus doesn't even get passed out until 2011-2012. The only part that is currently active is the home tax credit of $8000, the extension of unemployment benefits for an extra year, and the "TAX CUT" for 95% of us that amounts to a BIG HUGE $13/week extra, thanks for the 50 bucks Obama…you retard.

The stock market is a LEADING indicator of the economy. There is a 6-9 month LAG between the general economy and the health of the stock market. So that means that we still have 6-9 months until we reach absolute bottom. The housing market lead us into this recession and it will be the housing market that leads us out of it. IF housing stays flat, as it has for the last couple of months in value and sales and manufacturing, then the economy will limp along with "stagflation" like under Carter. IF housing goes down, the bottom keeps dropping. IF housing begins to recover, the general economy will follow.

  49. Gatekeeper says:

I think its on a upturn. Regardless it will still take a while to get back where we were. I don' think the stimulus had much to do with it.

    • USMCiNGEN says:

The stimulus has everything to do with it. Nothing is fixed! Fiscal stimulus is malinvestment. The negative effect on real value will be equal to the time value of total malinvestment.

Think of it like a childhood cartoon, where one guy is in the front of the boat dumping water on the fish he caught. There's another guy in the back of the boat who sees the water rising and, not knowing what the guy in front is doing, he starts bailing water out. Fiscal stimulus is like giving both guys bigger buckets.

    • dmacdaddy30 says:

You are exactly right. We will have gas prices jump back up over the summer as the cuts to inventories from last fall are finally felt and then we have all these false increases in bank profits as the mark to market rule has been removed. This is just a way to cook the books and increase the number to lend, however, no one is still lending to risky businesses. Finally, we have yet to see the effect of the auto workers halt of production on the feeder industries to the auto companies. There will be more layoffs and then a down turn into the economy again. Remember what happened from 1934 to 1940 unemployment down to 10% from 20% then back up to 18% after the projects were completed.

      • Goo says:

Exactly right. We haven't reached 1982 unemployment levels according to the new statistical data, but we have far surpassed it according to the old manner of calulation which was much more accurate. According to those figures, we are around 10 to 12% unemployed and underemployed. More is to come.

Obama is talking about saving 17 BILLION dollars and in the same breath talks about spending it elsewhere.

    Unreal.

  58. What's with this $17 billion cut to the $3.4 trillion budget? Does He think the $17 billion amounts to something significant? He obviously does since he feels the need to have a press conference to announce it.

They say the stimulus package DIRECTLY created hundreds of thousands of jobs. I think They even claimed to have created 1 million + jobs. Where? What jobs? Government jobs? What about the private businesses that RUN America and the economy?

"We can no longer afford to spend like deficits and numbers do not matter."

The economy is obviously not fixed if GM is still considering bankruptcy. The economy is obviously not fixed when people are still foreclosing due to loss of jobs and cuts in pay. I believe the economy is fixed alright… Fixed by the corrupt, greedy, thieving scaremongers in power!
If they really want to "fix" the economy; end the Fed, get out of the way of private businesses, put an end to the IRS, stop trying to manipulate the banks and let We The People see the O'transparency we were promised – but never delivered! If they can't even account for the TARP and Stimulus monies, how are we to believe they have a clue on the economy? As for me…I'm not buying any more of their lies…

  64. I have noticed something over the past couple of weeks which makes me suspect all of this is bull puckey. When Obama and the rest of the politicians wanted to get the "stimulus" package passed they were constantly comparing this recession to the Great Depression. Now that the government wants things to improve after a successful power grab they are merely calling it the worse recession in decades. There is a gigantic difference between the two and thatannoys me to no end.

The government and all Americans need to take one for the team. We need this recession to last until prices reset themselves. Everything is to expensive and everything costs to much. Almost everyone agrees that the economy was to hot and needed a self-correction, but nobody wanted to deal with the pain it would cause. There are many people who want the government to spend less money, but very few who are willing to accept it. Many like to lament the coming disaster with Social Security, but how many are saying "Just kill the program and be done with it"? I have heard multiple times that Medicare needs to be reigned in, but if you tell someone they can't have benefits many seem to get irate. I hear pundits and people talking about how much this government spends, but when it comes to cutting programs nobody is willing to not receive an entitlement.

    • I'm on Medicare. It only took me 78 phone calls before I could find a doctor to accept it and then the doctor was a dud. As for social security, I believe it is basically a ponzi scheme.

      • I agree with you on Social Security. The premise is good, but once the government touches anything it goes down the toilet. I also believe you on the Medicare. The government sets rates that they will pay a doctor, and they don't raise them very often. Adding to that is the government is usually late getting their payments to them. If you have a private practice you cannot afford to wait for months on end to receive payment.

    • USMCiNGEN says:

I volunteer. Cut my Social Security contributions by 50% and make participation 100% optional for anyone under 21(no contribution = no benefit). Do that and I will accept zero payout.

  67. aristotle61 says:

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. This might be a situation where after hitting rock bottom financially in the housing and banking industries- which is the vast majority of the crisis and recession- that we are now seeing an upturn. That is the natural way of things with recessions. However, thanks to the fool in the white house we will probably not be getting back to any real prosperity or low unemployment which usually comes with recoveries. With all of the things he has done- and maybe even more importantly- about to do, there is no way business will be able to thrive again, and no way for low unemployment. Almost everything he has done will kill job growth. Sadly, the worst is yet to come. Cap and trade should just about finish off what used to be an economic juggernaut. I will consider it a miracle and withdraw from commenting on political matters forever if our economy starts to expand again at a 4% or higher clip and we have low unemployment again, and make even minor progress with the deficits and debt. Therein lies the rub. If Obama is able to pass the cap and trade and his other "green" measures the way he wants, maybe the love trance will end and people will realize the mad hatter is in the white house. Almost everything he wants has been well tested elsewhere with disastrous results, yet people shrug and say way to go dude! I think people might change their minds when they are paying well over $5 a gallon for gas and 4 or 5 hundred dollars a month for their electric bill. I also think his bungling of world affairs will come back to haunt us in the near future as well. All hell is going to break loose in the middle east in the very near future. Continuing with his current policies we could see both Iran and the Taliban lobbing nukes soon. Maybe even North Korea as well.

If this is any kind of a recovery, no matter how short lived and weak, I will not give credit to Obama. There hasn't been anywhere near enough time for his policies to have had much of an effect. Which means the spending was not necessary and we could have avoided sending the country into near bankruptcy for the foreseeable future. I will give him credit for outrageous unemployment, crippling deficits, dramatic downsizing of our economy, a path to socialism, and world chaos, though.

      • It's all funny money. This is the basic premise. Since the dollars only value is the debt behind it as it’s not tied to anything like gold. Those of us who borrow are leveraging our labor (services) against our debt. Sound like trouble? The accumulation of debt is someone else’s wealth and there you go. The house of cards isn’t quite on the deck yet, but it’s still in a shambles. If the government and the really wealthy want to provide confidence they need to back off.

  70. htrn says:

What I don't understand is why these seemingly intelligent people keep saying things are fixed. We have so much money floating around in the banks and auto industries now that it is going to start catching up with the economy. When this occurs inflation is going to be rampant and the dollar will not be worth the paper it is printed on. Pennies and nickles are already not worth the metals they are stamped on. Did you know if you were to melt down a penny you would get approximately $.017 from that $.01 as of 4 years ago? Things are only getting (and are going to get) worse on the devalued currency we have.

We must stop this and come back under control. Yes, this will be difficult. This is going to be a hard time that is coming to the people and the more we put it off the worse things will be for everyone. We should be in the midst of a depression now, and I do not like that prospect, but it is required to reset things and bring the country to the point where it needs to be. Where the currency can come to have value again. If it were allowed to occur, I estimate we would be half-way through it about now and there would be a light coming.

Unfortunately, there is no politician that is willing to allow such a financial mess to occur so they will do everything they can to avoid it. Including making the one our children will have to go through be one that will bankrupt the nation and could lead to loosing the liberties we were founded upon. Our politicians are tearing up the Constitution. Not too distant into the future they will be tearing up our Declaration of Independence as we will freely give up our independence.

I lament this, but am speaking of things the way I see them.

    • Ashrak says:

"Pennies and nickles are already not worth the metals they are stamped on."

A lot of people don't even realize this. Now, an argument can be waged that their cycling, and the TAXES this cycling generates, makes them "worth it". But the killer of that argument rests with law passed in 2007 ( I think) that makes it a crime to melt down coined money for metals recycling.

      • htrn says:

I'm fully aware of that law. They passed it because more people were starting to melt down the coins for recycling. It was starting to turn into closet business for some metal dealers, and honestly I can't say that I blame them.

The interesting point, however, is where you have people saying, "invest in precious metals". I don't know how these metals are defined, but investments in pennies (as metals) give an immediate 70% increase in the investment. Nickles give an immediate 50% increase on the investment. What is wrong with that picture?

      • htrn says:

    • You are right on the money, so to speak. However I believe we also need to remember that we are firmly into the Fourth Turning [Lederer and Howe] where everything we have known will be completely redefined during this roughly 25 year cycle. Were we to be able to see our future today, we would not recognize it. If anyone is not familiar with the seasonal understanding of human history, I highly commend The Fourth Turning by Lederer and Howe. We have entered the final season, winter, where winds and destruction will tear our familiar world apart. The ancient Greeks called this season the "ekpyrosis" where, like the mythical phoenix bird, we all pass "through the fire". The good news is, if we ALL choose well, the future can be bright once again. Every Fourth Turning since the 1300's has ended with a world war. As the old Boy Scout in me remembers, "be prepared". Thanks for listening.

I live in an area that has always been economically oppressed. A GM plant recently closed here, and guess what – they moved their employees wishing to stay with them to Ohio (at our expense). Most of the folks here with middle class income work for the utilities or Fed, State or County gov't programs. A few entrepreneurial folks keep local small businesses going. Our local 'Mall' has been suffering since built in 1989, and at no time has all its space been rented. In spite of this, 2 new Walmarts have gone up, and 2 new Lowe's as well. Guess what – the parking lots are usually full. I don't know anyone who wants an IPod, big-screen TV, the latest popular CDs & DVDs, a Vera Bradley purse, a cell phone, designer clothes, or an ATV, and doesn't have it, including those on welfare (which is about 1/2 the population). Any recovery here won't be noticed as apparently the recession isn't being noticed either.

    • I shuddered when I read your post. When most of the middle class is working for the government there's a worse than serious problem. These people, in my experience, are often sub-prime employees who cannot be fired so they're, in effect, stealing their wages. AND we're paying them out of our taxes! Makes blood come out of my eyes.

  72. Jerseygal says:

Ronald Reagan once said (tongue in cheek of course), "If the gov't says you're depressed, you'd better go lie down." The gov't said the sky would fall without the porkulus pkg, and lawmakers dutifully knee-jerked and passed it in such haste that reading would have wasted such valuable time. Virtually none of the porkulus plan has been implemented, and now the gov't (through surrogates) is saying we are in recovery, so go forth and spend.

I'll believe recovery when I see it, until then, I'm not buying it. Hyper-inflation is on the horizon.

    • I agree. If the government says it, my first impulse is to wonder what they're covering up.

      • Jerseygal says:

Good instincts. Real recovery now would indicate the Bush policies were responsible for it, since most of Obama's haven't been implemented. He cannot afford this, so just wait for the next proverbial shoe to drop. He can still blame it on Bush.

    • Vindex22 says:

thats what i'm saying, i work with small businesses and when i actually see the money starting to flow and these companies start hiring again, when i see them adding employee benefits instead of cancelling them, i'll believe it. as you mentioned, once we all think things are fixed…. then the hyperinflation will blindside us.

      STOP PRINTING MONEY!

  73. lcsnodgrass says:

Its all padded books with taxpayer's money! When those loans come due it will just be this crisis all over again. Once our taxes go through the roof we'll see just how stable the economy is.

  74. mwb1951 says:

This headline is deceiving. Read the article carefully. This is Rupert Murcoch. He's a media mogul. Conservative media is his thing. The article quotes him as saying that some of HIS businesses are showing positive signs. It doesn't say that he thinks the economy as a whole is fixed.

  75. SecretPolice says:

Throw trillions of Tax Payers money around and It's sure to have an impact but it is sure to run out as well – then what, another few trillion again ?

When the bill comes due – look Out !

  76. gk4freedom says:

A Fox financial analyst couldn't have described the bank and auto mfg. bailouts and their fallout better….the banks and auto mfg(s) got the money…Obama holds the purse strings…and the taxpayers got screwed. Amen

  77. Those who fail to heed the lessons of the past are doomed to fail. Here's a little excerpt how the market behaved after the '29 crash.

In the days leading up to Black Tuesday, the market was severely unstable. Periods of selling and high volumes of trading were interspersed with brief periods of rising prices and recovery. Economist and author Jude Wanniski later correlated these swings with the prospects for passage of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, which was then being debated in Congress.[9] After the crash, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) recovered early in 1930, only to reverse and crash again, reaching a low point of the great bear market in 1932. On July 8, 1932 the Dow reached its lowest level of the 20th century and did not return to pre-1929 levels until 23 November 1954.[10][11]

  78. RobNRick says:

They just want eveyone to spend whats left of their money so they can have the rest! Don't believe any of it. The economy might look as if it will turn around only to crash again this summer but this time it will be a Depression.

Ahhhh, The Power of Positive Thinking

  80. Is it any surprise the uber-rich are eager to spin any news into a positive? They care about their money and I'd bet the "some" businesses being referred to in the article have strong ties to Murdoch. Don't worry, though, the President will "save" the rest of the businesses by nationalizing them…then all the businesses will be looking better, right?! This is just an enormous propaganda campaign.

  81. Dustyluv says:

Warren and Ruppert have drank the koolaid….But they have enough money to buy the antidote so they could care less..

  82. granderman says:

our economy is not fixed the natural eb and flow of a recession that was greatly amplified by scare tatitics of obama to use a crisis to grab power and control. the fundamental problem still lies in the fact he 2.2 million jobs exsist in India , millions in China , and south America Hell Bill O'Reilly couldn't even produce his Tshirts for O'reilly .com in America because nobody had the production facilities in the USA .. Until there is a personal and corp. tax rate that makes it profitable to emploee people inside the USA , this is a false recovery and our jobs will go overseas where you can employee a well educated person for 200 a month not aday ! Please somebody tell me when is our next event to change the politics in washington they are selling us down the road to medicority

  83. reavist says:

Murdoch said: "There are emerging signs in some of our businesses that the days of precipitous declines are done and that revenues are beginning to look healthier."

…emphasis on "some"? I can tell you this is not true where I am! I've had a small business for 8 years. Up till now I have slowly but steadily grown. Now it's like being back at year 1 or 2. Maybe Murdoch is doing better, but I'm not. It's not over… that I know from personal experience.

  84. Carolecares2 says:

Warran Buffet is losing millions and wants us all to restock his bank account. It's a bunch of lies! My kids to are suffering….I do know a family that is able to use the Washington State crazy and poor card. My daughter makes 16 dollars to much to qualify for Daycare help with her one year old but this family is getting food stamps, cash, free housing and Social security…that's right! My neice who is soon to be 23 went to DSHS and said she was crazy…she has never worked a day in her life! Her family is all addicted to perscription drugs and live off the government who gives them their drugs. The one who claimed insanity is receiving food stamps, free rent and my daughter who works hard and just needs a little help can't qualify for daycare help. Is this our future?

  85. floridagal says:

I don't get it. We're in the worst financial shape in, say, the history of the world and now, magically, and in a little over 100 days, the worst is behind us? How is that even possible? This reminds me of "new math"….. either that, or the numbers are too big for their calculators and they lost tract of the decimal point! OR… the fat cats at the top had a conversation between themselves and said something like this: "Okay, we've been greedy enough… tell you what, if I don't make you pay me back, you won't make me pay you back. We determine the value of everything anyway and the little people will never know… Deal? Deal !! Now let's get to work on that stock market and take the rest of their money!"

  86. Ohiowoman says:

Tell that to the 500,000 plus newly unemployed this month. The economy will not be "fixed" as long as the government is the one doing the fixing. Sorry Rupert, but we are headed for big time inflation and it isn't going to be pretty. Most people in the real, everyday world aren't spending money they don't have, unlike our government. Until people are back in a position to spend, the economy will not be fixed.

    • floridagal says:

I agree, except for the "most people in the real, everyday world aren't spending money they don't have." Quite the opposite, I would say….. It's just they don't have access to easy credit anymore.

    • Jerseygal says:

1/2 the people in my area are on welfare, and their spending habits haven't changed. They still spend all our money every month, and complain that that is all they get.

  87. pslwd says:

I suspect, with all the money, Obama has thrown into our economy, it will look good for the short haul. For the long haul, when all of this money needs to be re-paid, no, we are in serious trouble.

    • TJinVa says:

I think you are pretty much right on. I also think Murdock and Buffet are thinking if they echo Bernanke maybe the rest of America will believe its over and go back to spending money they don't have like the Gov. has done.
We are not out of this mess by a long shot the way I see it.

  88. NancyNurse says:

When my two kids get jobs, then I will know the economy is 'fixed.' Until then, I won't believe it. i think big investors like to engage in wishful thinking–perhaps even magical thinking. Sorry. I am too old to believe in fairy dust. Our economy will not be fixed until people begin to TRUST our government and each other again.

    • Carolecares2 says:

that will happen when Nancy Piglosi is pushed of her rocker! She's nuts!

      • NancyNurse says:

Pushing Nancy from her rocker would be a good start. But I live in ACORN country and I doubt we will ever have a free and fair election ever again.

My mother gave me about 100 years of pictures to scan into my computer and I have been busy doing that the last few days. I am really struck at how much different things were—even during the 40's than they are now. A completely different look on people's faces—that changed dramatically after the 60's. I don't believe our way of life was bad then and worse now. It is like night and day. And I really wish that we could return to those times when we were not being 'managed' and 'progressed' off the edge of cliffs just for the sport of seeing who wins and election. I am sickened by politiics now. But I think the first rule of the 9/12 has to hold. America is, has been, and can be a good place. Even our government. It all boils down to our WILL.

  89. Ashrak says:

Glenn finally threw the scum bucket out of the studio when the piece of shyte told Glenn he (Glenn) "was afraid of Black people"!

  92. NancyNurse says:

No I didn't get to see it but my husband did and said it was really something. I think there needs to be a major investigation of that group, its spokespeople, its financing, etc etc. The ACORN effect is trying to pit people against people and deny due process. I think this group is the KKK for people of that mindset and their effect has been as harmful to the election process as post Civil War carpet bagging legislation. That argument that ACORN protects the rights of thedisenfranchisedis so bogus it is unbelievable. I'd like to hear about just how black people feel their rights are now being abused–they have lived with every possible right and help that anyone can be given since 1964. Their community organization efforts have nothing to do with community building—rather community disintegration and destruction. I have seen it first hand. I live less than an hour from the south side of Chicago. Trust me, I know what ACORN and other groups have done…….. this is all about power and nothing about civil rights.

  93. Goo says:

Stop with the Muslim nonsense. That road has been trodden down ad nauseum.

  94. Goo says:

Absolutely. But they never will. The power grab is on.

  95. Yes it is. We are grabbing back though. Kind of like a game of slap jack huh? I think we'll get there, just a long roe to hoe.

Which is what i was talking about.

  97. Goo says:

    Don't be insipid.

There is little evidence that this man is a Muslim. I'm quite tired of reading this ALL of the TIME with no basis in fact. You are entitled to write what ever you want, but be responsible.

Hall monitor? I could only be so lucky. :P

  98. Goo says:

There is a birth certificate that was produced, a legal copy from the State of Hawaii. Once again, it's an idiotic argument.

I'm not upset at MikeinIdaho. I am upset that this nonsense is propagated with no proof, just spouted like it's fact. It's not. People need to get the real issue, and that is we have a Marxist in the Presidency that is undermining our country and it's principles. Whether he's a Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jew, Ba'hai, makes no bloody difference. This has to stop. Our credibility is at stake.

  99. RB60 says:

Not to start an argument here, but, I just got a "birth certificate" last month. I have always thought I had one, but it turns out it was just a "registration of birth" For $10.00 and a copy of my driver's license, I had one in less than a week.

  100. GodHelpUsAll says:

The fact that he is not a US citizen does make…….as you say a "bloody difference". He never gave up his citizenship in kenya. His dad is still there. Meaning he's not legally our president. Hilary clinton is the one who faked his certificate. And like all his devious deeds they got away with it. Just like the so called joke of an election we had.
And while I think we shouldn't be arguing about this either, I also have a problem with people who only seem to question those who are looking for answers. And no he did NOT show a LEGAL certificate. I'm tired of the obama admin. calling us racist because we don't agree with them. Regardless of WHAT he claims he is….it matters to many people. As for proof, I have seen NO FACTS that says otherwise. Like i said before it goes both ways.

  101. GodHelpUsAll says:

You're right. And all states are different. What is legal and illegal is 2 different things. I seen illegal immigrants skip over to the next state because my state is too strict. Yet citizens have to take the whole file cabinet in to get anything like ID's etc.
What Goo said is the way American's THINK it should be done…..however many are fooled. I seen it myself.

  102. MikeinIdaho says:

I'm sorry, who died and left you in charge of deciding what comments are allowed or not allowed. I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are yours. Do NOT presume to try to tell me what to think or say. You do so at everyone's peril. Try to let each of us decide what we each say and do. Thanks.

Sorry for the previous mispellings hope I found and corrected them all.
P.S. I bet you were the hall monitor checking passes in school, weren't you!

  103. stang289 says:

unless you can prove that he is not muslim i suggest you not call it nonsense. he blows his swearing in just so he can do it in the white house without a bible? he has a cristian university remove a symbol of jesus ? he says we are not a christian nation .when we are. just like iraq is a muslim nation. he bows to a saudi king ? skips the graves of our soldiers and goes to a turkish mosque.and just like i am a non practicing catholic but yet a christian deep inside me lies all things catholic. that is why they teach us when were young because they stick with us a life time. all those values hence inside him he is a muslim ! its just that he hides everything and it might be just to keep us guessing ? and we really dont know the man at all !! DO YOU GOO !!

  104. Goo says:

Hillary Clinton faked his birth certificate? Is that ALL YOU HAVE? Conspiracy theories and fantasyland? Come on back down to Earth, where the rest of us have to live. This is just getting ridiculous.

The election, whether you or I like or not, was legal. Are we going to start sounding like Al Gore in 2000?

These conversations are nonsensical. We just go on complaining, rather than actually trying to do something about the situation. We need to organize, and we need to have viable candidates to remove the current crop from power.

  105. GodHelpUsAll says:

Excuse me??? I found out what I know from research. I found out from HIS biography. I don't appreciate your tone with me at all. HE said he had dual citizenship. No one else. Because you don't want to look at facts, and can't give any yourself, is why we're "getting rid of the crop from power". Good day!

  106. MikeinIdaho says:

INSIPID, wow, you know a big word!
Now STFU and stop telling us what YOU are tired of reading. We(I) don't care. Suggestion: Go away and don't read things you're tired of reading.

I hope you are right about not hitting the 15% unemployment, but I can not see how we don't lose at least 1 million more jobs just in the auto industry and the feeder companies into the Big Three (or two now) alone. Plus we will see more losses in the banking industry as these stress test seem to indicate they need more money, even though that does not seem to concern those on Wall Street for some reason. We all ready saw what Chavez is doing in Venz as he is kicking out US companies that drill oil there. This is all going to back fire at some point in time and I think the summer will just light the fuse.

Thanks for the support, but I am more worried about my fellow workers that did get cut. Some are still trying to find a job.

  113. SerratusPI says:

Boy, Chavez is one evil commie! It makes me sick to know that our government is in bed with the likes of these people because we won't drill our own oil. On top of that, Obama shaking his hand and accepting his trash literature symbolizes that we are accepting of their behavior.
I saw a hilarious report last night on MSNBC, (I know, I only watch it when occasionally flipping through the channels) and they were absolutely extatic about the fact that we ONLY lost 550,000 jobs this month. It's a six month low, you know. Apparently to them it shows that Obama is doing something right! Do you remember that first month at the end of last summer when we lost 250,000 jobs and it was like the second largest single month loss since the great depression? It took less than a year for people to forget about how significant the rate of job loss is in this country. It's pathetic on the part of the media. We are no where near the end of this recession, nor are we close to the bottom in the stock market just because we had a good rally this month. As Glenn often says, we're only 5 minutes into a 5 hour journey.
