…thanks…I got notification of acceptance over the weekend so I'm good! Are you attending the march on Washington on 9-12? I will be attending with my son and my sister. I hope the turnout is strong.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my previous post….T
Wonderful Post! Thank you!
I too voted for Huckabee, I believe he is a good man…I also liked Ron Paul but seeing the reception he was getting, it was clear he did not have a chance of a snowball in hell…I also agree with the post above yours that he (Ron Paul) speaks more conservative than any of the other republicans. Hopefully republicans will find their way back to their foundation…if not, I am not sure what chance any of us have…but I can hardly wait until 2010 and then 2012,,and then hopefully this country will turn around and try and undo the damage the liberals are doing now!
Hey, come on now! Wasn't Paul one of the last candidates standing? I think Paul, McCain and Huckabee were the final three, but then again that seems like ages ago because so much has happened since then.
Who is going to train new physician's under BO's universal health plan? Do individuals how much time and money physician's sacrifice to serve patients? An undergraduate degree, average 4 years. Medical school, another 4 years. Residency, another 3 to 6 years. Fellowship or specialty training, another 2 to 4 years, depending on the specialty. Some physicians owe upwards of $200,000 in school loans after starting to work. Malpractice can run as high as $100,000 to $200,000 a year depending on the state. Leaving medicine can be as expensive as getting into medicine. A malpractice tail can cost upwards of $200,000.
Who would invest their time, money and energy into the above if one wasn't going to make a good living? What type of physicians will we end up with under universal health care? Is BO going to plan to pay for training for physicians?
Baus Major is absolutely correct…
I know this because I have had the distinct pleasure – okay, 99.2% of the time – of being a part of this mans life as a friend, fellow soldier and as his wife for the last 23 years. I found this chat open on the computer this morning and started reading the posts and I was moved by all of the opinions to the point that I felt compelled to now throw in my 2 cents. I want to touch on two points, the subject line of this chat, being health care and to expound just a little on what the colonel said (yes; he is just simply known as the Colonel in our family).
I think I may be able to shed some light on just how bad this single pay health care plan is. I am semi-retired Naval/USAF Doctor O5, and after serving for 25 years and counting now, I can tell you right now government run health care is the worse possible nightmare you can imagine, worse actually. For the last 10 years or so, I have volunteered 60 hours a month – through a private practice set up by my husband and I which has never taken in a single dollar of billable services from the 1,400 veterans that have walked through our doors, in fact the entire operation is funded almost exclusively by mine and my husbands' military pensions. The reason we did this? Because we have watched how brazenly negligent the Government has been in it's OBLIGATION to the patriotic men and women who have served this country with honor. Sure we could accept and bill thousands of hours to medicare but then I would be forced to provide the care THEY want for MY patients. Do you want that for yourself and your family? Do you want accountants making medical decisions for you? That is EXACTLY how government run health care works.
Now, can you imagine this scenario; you call to set an appointment only to be told that they couldn't get you in for, oh say, 4 months. Next you find out that the office you need to go to for a procedure is just down the road… 150 miles or more. Then when you get there, you are told by some of the rudest people in the world that you didn't bring the right form with you, or you need to fill out another 20 page form, or if you are real lucky, they just don't show anything scheduled at all and you are going to need to leave, go home and try again. Got you a little concerned yet? One question for you, I am a local ER Physician (have to make a living as well), can you guess how many out of 10 patients every single month that are admitted to the ER at this hospital who are ILLEGALLY here? More than 7.14 out of 10 for Q1 2009.
The Colonel is the proudest and bravest man I have have ever known – with an equal dose of humility – and when I can watch this proud, strong military man come home from a trip or an assignment and just begin to breakdown into tears (It is only significant because I have maybe ever seen him shed a tear 6 times in 24 years with 3 of those in the last 3 months) because of what he is seeing first hand – which he will (and can) only ever say is the "unfettered destruction of this country, our Constitution and our liberty by the hands of evil men who hate it" – I know that something is SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY WRONG!
My fellow soldiers and patriots, we may have but one shot at this, by the next election cycle, the Liberal dominated Universities (do not underestimate this, my husband has had his PhD dissertation rejected by 2 prestigious universities) will have turned out a few million more Liberal drones, our elected leaders will have welcomed, with open arms, millions more illegals, with whom Rep. Pelosi will gather with and call the "Real Patriots of America" (How has this woman not been brought up on charges of TREASON?!) and groups like ACORN will have their bank accounts stuffed with billions of YOUR tax dollars to take away YOUR FREEDOMS!
It is time TO GET ANGRY AMERICANS! IT IS TIME TO BE PREPARED!!! I pray every single day it doesn't come to this, but if it does, be ready. Whether you have served this country or not be prepared and committed to being called to arms against a tyrannical government, I promise you this family and every single person I know, including military members, will be right next to you! SOMETIMES A LITTLE BLOOD SHED IS JUST WHAT IS NEEDED TO REFRESH LIBERTY!! WE WILL TAKE THIS COUNTRY AND OUR CONSTITUTION BACK EITHER PEACEABLY OR BY FORCE IF NECESSARY!! BTW – They know this very well, hence, the haste on their part to try and take our guns away from us… Yeah, come and get 'em. There are only 3 possible outcomes to that; I die, you die, we both die. Not sure which one, but it WILL ONLY be one of those 3.
"Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote".
In closing, I do not pretend to be nearly as brave, nor would I even try to put myself into the same category of a soldier as my husband or any of the patriot soldiers I have seen on this web site, you are the REAL HERO'S and you have my undying gratitude, respect and support! To every single patriotic American within view of this, thank you, you are our only hope…
Sincerely,
Sophia Major (Lt.Col. USAF)
P.S. Conservatives cling to their guns, liberals admonish guns. Doesn't seem like a fair fight does it?
So close. It was NY and it was NY's medicare program, not the Federal who made the mandate. Still unbelievable though.
Govt health care will also destroy the economy further. We already can't sustain the current budget.Putting socialized medicine on it will be the boulder that crushes the camel's back.It sure ain't no straw.Their is no way we can afford it unless taxes jump up to the extreme. If that happens, the economy will die and possibly America with it.
Actually Mike I have to disagree. Whenever you have shareholders you must show a profit. Thus you must either come out with new products to increase sales or increase your prices in order to make your shareholders happy. In the case of Hospitals and Insurance Companies you have a double whammy. Both of which in the last twenty years have been privatized and that is why you see increasing prices from both sides of the spectrum. Then you have the liability insurance for doctors to add on which has made things worse. That is why a pill in Cuba cost 25cents while here in the U.S. it is twenty five bucks. The high risk pools I am well aware of. But, like you said even those are very expensive it merely guarantees you coverage. One thing that I think most people should probably agree with is this. A person should not have to work hard their entire life and then lose their homes to medical bills. The health care industry has gone nuts and now will pay a price for it. Unfortunately I think it will end up in a soci-alized medicine. I merely think that stronger regulation and price controls on hospitals and insurance companies is the answer. Another possible strong answer is Have a large Group pool for those who are self employed or work for businesses that cannot afford to supply insurance for their employees. That along with restrictions on lawsuit awards , better oversight of each states insurance review boards will go a long way in reducing prices for all Americans when it comes to health care. Low income pools can be set up that people can pay based on wage levels and can be subsidized by the federal government . This would solve the problem of low income people who cannot afford insurance. It would also go a long way with conservatives , people would not be getting a free ride and as their income levels raise so would their premiums. This would be a fair system and could be tied into data bases that could be used to cross reference incomes by tax returns etc…. to verify income levels. There are many ways to attack the problem and still have choice. But the problem must be attacked.

The cost of care is expensive. We pay for technology and the latest and greatest machines and treatments. Consumers have no idea of what it costs to get a service like an MRI. If we go down the road of a public plan option, the private insurance market will not market any plans. The CMS reimbursement rates are so low providers cannot produce a profit. Talk to a physician and see if they can support a practice on CMS reimbursement schedules. It is unsustainable. Medicare is going bankrupt now, why would we add people to this program? Look into Medicare Entitlement.
Large Risk pools already exist in the form of private carriers. All the risk in given markets are pooled together. Associations do not work. I am talking about organizations like Chamber plans or other types of assocaitions. Good for three years and then a mountain of claims come pouring in.
I have been designing and implementing plans for years. I have worked for carriers and I have worked as a consultant. I am very experienced with risk and pooling.Crowiding out would occur in the private insurance pool.
People have access to COBRA and in most states, there is a guarantee issue plan. There is coverage available for most americans and no doctor will ever refuse care.
If you have a public plan option, you will see these items occur:
Private insurers pull out of the marketplace- They are not going to compete unless there is a fair playing field.
Doctors and Hospitals will close
Prescription will become less available. I am not talking about everyday drugs, these would speciality items.
The public option would be very limiting, procedures, tests and surgerys will not be covered. Long wait times will be a reality.
You will see less specialists available.
here is a breakdown of all the costs.
86% of all premium goes out to pay claims
5% goes to consumer marketing, providers, and facilities- Directories
6% gonvernment
3% Profit

I also had a couple of more thoughts on this. The days of a $10 copay are long gone. If you are going top buy any type of insurance, the type of insurance a person should buy is a high dedutible health plan that has a tax benefit. If you cannot afford to pay a doctors charge of $75 then there are other issues you have.
There is already a subsidzed market in every state. Thereare CHIP and other forms of subsidized coverage. Medicaid.
http://www.benefits.gov
A lot of times people try and get coverage too late. They also do not have enough insurance. They do not want to spend money on the coverages they need and have been marketed but choose not to buy it and then expect everyone to pay for it around them.
Most of the time I read an article in the paper and find it usually comes down to not purchasing disability coverage.
The private programs are the most regulated industry in the country. There is not one industry that is more regaulated than health insurance. Regulations just lead to increase in costs to the consumer.
Pre ex can be taken out if everyone is mandated coverage. It can only be done if everyone buys in. If someone falls out of the risk pool, pre -ex will and should be enforced.
Create tax advanatges for individuals to purchase insurance.
Create clinics where people can access care easier.
mandate catastrophic coverage so people can get quality affordable coverage.
National Healthcare will not just kill Privatized Healthcare, it will kill privatized citizens as well!!!! Dr's will be inundated with patients and not physically be able to see everyone who needs it. Once their quotas are filled people will be forced to find a different Dr or specialist and the time they have waited to see the first Dr. will have been wasted. Certain effective medications will be impossible to get for the people who the government decides are too far gone. Not to mention a large part of the private business sector will no longer exist. Eliminating even more jobs than have already been lost. The few posts I have read from the distinguished veterans on this stream have just made me more frightened that in the future under National Healthcare I may not be able to help my children in the case they get sick. I really pray that the day I have to watch them slowly get sicker and sicker while waiting to see a Dr never comes. I pray that the people of this Nation have the forsight needed to send this agenda to the garbage can once and for all.

I try to be a reasonable man in what I say. But when I saw that some of my submissions were censored. And they were censored! I sent an email to the administrator to explain to me just what was it that I said that they considered inappropriate and I'm still waiting for an answer. I have asked them on more than one occasion as well. There is most certainly some problems with the way this website is being managed!
You are right. And the only ones the government has any interest in keeping alive are those who produce work and pay taxes. I hate to be that way about the VA Medical providers but it is the truth. I get ChampVA (because I take care of my husband now) and I get a choice, good coverage and treated with courtesy. And I never was under fire one day for our country! That doesn't make any sense.
You know this 912 Project forum has turned into a joke. Somewhere between the moderator or those intense debate kids (more like marsh mellow debate), members opinions are being censored and not for foul language but for their dislike of something about the content! Folk's! That's the kind of censorship you would expect from the extremist liberal left. But the fact that it appears that people aren't interested in discussing the manner that this website is being managed is a shame. You read through these forums and you will see that there are others who have been censored as well, it's not just me. There seems to be something wrong going on here and we need to talk about it!
I think their system automatically pulls every so many of your posts to check what you're saying. However, none of mine have ever come back after they've read them. I haven't said anything inappropriate, so I really don't know what's going on. As I've said a million times (a bit of an exaggeration), this needs to come into the real world and off the internet. Obama will be in control of the internet in a short time.

We need to find Obama's real birth certificate which will prove once and for all he is not a natural born citizen making him ineligible to be president. Then everything he has signed will become null and void. He will do everything in his power to prevent America from seeing it. He already has a full team of lawyers at his disposal.
So-cia-lized medicine in my opinion is never good. But conversely the system we have now is broke. Part of the reason the republicans took such a tail whipping in the last election is they are so out of touch when it comes to things that effect the lives of every day people. For example pre-existing conditions. If you have one forget health insurance or it will be extremely high. I am self employed and have found the insurance game is horrifying. You are scared to go to a doctor in fear if they do find something they are going to price you and your family out of the insurance. Blue cross used to be a health insurance company that offered affordable rates and good coverage until it went public and became a part of WellPoint. So what is the answer I have asked myself?
Here is my view. Health care is something that you should not have to worry about on a daily basis. I hate to say this but to a certain degree on this issue I believe that Health Care for every American should be a right. I believe that either a heavily regulated system of private insurance companies or State run health care is the only answer. But , as a business owner I do not believe that this cost needs to be laid on the back of business owners but all Americans equally. As conservatives we have to recognize that issues that directly effect the well being of the people such as health care, water, sewer and in my personal opinion gas and electric should be social programs ran as in the old days as non-profits.
most states have a public fund to get insurance through a carrier. The reason why there is pre-ex is because insurance companies do not want to get hit with bad risk. A person has 60 days to continue coverage if they lose it without pre ex becoming a factor. Two states with 2 different insurance methodology. NJ is a state where it is guarantee issue they enforce pre ex but only ofr 12 months. The insurance rates are extremely high in this state for this product. PA is not a guaranteed issue state and enjoys competitive premiums. It also has a guarantee issue plan that works well for people that are sick. Again, pre-ex is also enforced.
Work with an agent to get affordable coverage. I work with many clients to find the best fit. Sometimes I do not get paid for that. go to nahu.org
The cost issue is another story. Just because you will nationalize something does not mean you will get lower costs. It isonly when rationing begins that you will see costs go down.

Part 2–my reply was too long.
Back in 1998 my coworker and best friend discussed at length how we were headed for another revolution to protect the Constitution that the first one gave us. I think we had some foresight even then. I hope all of us are wrong, but it's seeming more and more inevitable. I can't imagine taking up arms against a military I was born into and have respected my entire life. I hope it never comes to that, but I WILL protect myself from jackbooted thugs and may have to die trying.
Colonel, thank you for your service and dedication in protecting my liberty & our constitution. I have a son who serves in the Coast Guard, I pray daily he is led and trained by honorable & patriotic men such as you. Thank you.
I don’t believe that America is dead, although it seems we are on the fast track to destruction or bondage. I believe there is a great desire amongst “We the People” for a persons of great character and honor, like you, to lead and return us and the country to the principles and values of the Founding Fathers.
I have chosen to follow you on this web-site and I would be honored to stand with you to defend our liberty & freedom with action. Will you choose to lead? Who else is willing to follow?
Has anyone considered one other solution for this health care issue. How about no health care program at all. Let's return to the days when doctors made house calls and were competing with other doctors for a patients business! Let people be responsible for the care of their own health by learning to live a more healthy lifestyle! Why should my medical bills go up in cost to provide medical care for those who don't take care of themselves?
I agree that it is not fair for everyones' health care costs to be based on those who choose to not take care of themselves.
Or do it like the doctor Glenn had on TV that charges his a customers a flat monthly rate and they can go see him as often as they think they need to.
abc 123 test.
That sounds a lot like free enterprise, and you know Obama doesn't like that very much! It's not F A I R !! Liberals only like squishy, smooshy feel-good programs.
Years ago we had "major medical" insurance. You paid for the small stuff and the insurance paid for the big stuff. You were protected when you needed it the most – much like homeowner's insurance. Homeowners does not cover lightbulbs and maintenance, but they do cover unexpected and expensive loss!!
Now you see blazeandbelle at least were talking about alternatives to government mandated health care! I don't have the exact answer But we are talking. How about instead of insurance there's the option of major health credit loans for those who are more reckless in their life styles. It seems to me that with health insurance you are still subsidizing others. Well anyway it's just a thought. Let's talk more. I think one thing is for sure, socialized health care like Omommabama wants is not the answer!
I totally agree with you. We should consider other options and not just buy what Obama tries to sell us. The scary thing is that the government really does want control of our lives….our money, our health (complete with a diagnosis of our future health based on DNA analysis), our educations, our weapons, and even our religions. We're about to be pushed into a corner….we'd better start pushing back NOW!
Wouldnt it be nice to have doctors who had to advertise what their prices are for each service before you walked through the door. Part of the problem is you walk into a doctor its like walking into a mechanic. You never know what they are going to say and if it is something serious you end up owing before you can make a informed decision.
Make doctors actually compete for business? Why then the price would go down, and the quality would go up, and you might have choices…You might actually be able to afford it if taxes were cut…Not part of the plan man. How will the government be able to dictate how we live, what kinds of food we eat, and how many children we can have unless we have government healthcare?
NATIONALIZE ATTORNEYS,,,,,they made more, and no insurance for malpratice,,,LAWYERS have made our country a INDUSTRY far grater ANY other Corp in the entire US,,,look at how hout GOVERMENT has turned out,,,our courts,,,even the Judges who make LAWS,,,NOT follow the sprit, intent, letter of the law,,,a good example right now BOTH PARTIES OPENLY PROUDLY discuss the POLICTIAL DOGMA BELIEFS and NOT the MERITS for a SUPRUME COURT Justice,,,,Attroneys cost this nation as a simple COURT system as our founding fathers desired is NOT taking place,,,SO many RIGHTS for the ACCUSED ,,every person is entitled in criminal court,,,yet when a case is RUN UP INTO THE MILLIONS in "court costs, attorney fees) ,,,what about the Victims RIGHTS,,,AMERICAS RIGHTS as the rulings are NOT for the best intrests of the crook,,,,but AMERICAN SOCITY,,,,
Mugwumps are OK with the over priced health care that we have now…
We are already paying way too high premiums, but we all know this covers illegals, people who use the emergency room as their general practitioner and then bolt when it comes time to pay.
Not to mention the Doctor/Hospital greed factor…
At least under this stressed out system WE ALL get health care whether we pay through the nose for it or steal it…
Now they want us to vote for a Chrysler like solution??? Get out of my life!!!
What 'they' are asking us is to foist WAYYY over priced health care upon US and much less of it…. Wait outside, please!!

Doctor/Hospital greed??
What about malpractice ambulance chaser greed? this is what drove health care prices up do to high malpractice insurance costs. Doctor'Hospital Greed can't hold a candle to this.
Yes, I erred and did not include the ambulance chaser / Edwards, effect…
Point taken…

I look at Obama,Pelosi,Reed,Mc Cain as COWARDS,,,thier ethics, thier morals,,more worried about the PARTY than this country, they rather ADVANCE SOICIALISM than the US CONSITUTION,BILL OF RIGHTS,,,,,even DRUG DEALERS love this country and yes,,they will tell you and mean it,,,what does that say for POLICITIANS,,,but than DRUG DEALERS have a code of conduct,,,other wise other crooks would not inter react nor be trusted for deals,,,,NOW what does that say in REALITY about our elected representives,,,
When the AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE TO CHOOSE THE LESSER OF THE 2 EVILS,,,we started out not having to much to choose from,,,so that says little about demsReps,,,than we have to sort out thier retoric lies,,,yes even the smartest vote can be TRICKED,,,I am sure our project will help clearify the next election in less than a year:)
Look how the GOVERMENT turned over the US Postal Service,,,from 18 cents a stamp to almost 50cents,,,in reality a NATIONAL HEALTH CARE where one can not take legal action against the goverment,, is far to deadly than ANY SWINE FLU,,,Goverment Drs would NOT have to carry insurance NO MATTER HOW BAD or what HARM they cause the person,,,for national health care certianly did NO good to those in Mex,,,yes there is a move on to PROVIDE me with the med,,,but than if we were under NATIONAL HEALTH CARE,,,,our fine Drs,Tech would move out of the country,,or restrict thier great care to only those numbers they can,,,you can bet under such a way they would NOT be covered under ANY plan but cash,,,not that they would try to work with people but the goverment will have the MEDICAL GUESTOPO shut them down,,,yet whats strange,,,Obama and elected federla people are NOT under medicare nor SSN,,,as they passed a law giving them FULL benefit regardless of time in office,,,FOR LIFE as well as thier families,,,I think ANY ELECTED representative who votes to support such a danger to AMERICA is far worse than Al Qadea in morlas, and ethics, and intent to PLACE AMERICANS and treat us like SLAVES,,,,NOT me,,, to them I say DO NOT TREAD ON ME nor MY FAMILY,,,Wash DC can only PUSH so far,,,if they seek to act like KING GEORGE,CORNWALLIS,,,we know that ending,,,
With Heath care there is no easy answer. But I have a suggestion: I suggest "Plus" health care for adults should be ran by the states, like the Chip programs the states already have. Each states needs are different for this would help obtaining a budget for the program. Leave private health care alone. Set some pricing rules ex: when you take your car to a dealer to have service done, there is a mantel that tells you how much time you can charge for that service, no more and no less. Why can not they come up with a code book of pricing such as GM or Ford. It is basically the same oil change .15 in time, ear infection .15 in time. This will regulate a more reasonable pricing scale for the health care providers and the insurance companies. I have Lupus and RA and government health care scares the bejesus out of me. I don't want the government to tell me what med's I can take or not, that is if I don,t get bumped at the doctors office because I am not as productive in my earnings as a healthy person, see a healthy person can work 40 hrs. a week and pays more into taxes then me at the min. of 30 hrs. a week, I work just enough hours to keep my benefits. That is what scares me the most. For us God fearing folks in my circle we really do not approve of government health care, social medicine does not work have we not learned that from the other countries who have it or tried it. Many get lost through the cracks the same as they do rate now. Only rate now an emergency room can't turn you away, but a government controlled health care can if they are told to do so. Have you ever been to the DMV they do it all the time rate at 5:00.
What worries me the most is that it will be a Frankenstein hybrid comprised of the worse points of both systems.
I think a company like Wal-Mart is more capable of running a health care system than our government.
Almost half of my relatives worked in the medical profession. The ones who have retired or passed away instructed the next generations to stay out of medicine because encroaching government programs and regulations made it impossible to run a medical office (general practice, specialized and dental) and make a profit.
If the government imposed malpractice insurance on lawyers you wouldn't see any more lawyers- Unfortunately, the government is run by lawyers and medical malpractice lawsuits is a litigant's cash cow. Don't expect any reforms any time soon.
When the government runs programs to pay for medical service the prices are automatically inflated- those who pay have to take up the slack for those who do not pay.
I live in a state with mandatory health insurance- Employers lower wages because they are forced to pay for employee health insurance. You'd think that would lower rates but it does the opposite: Insurance companies charge as much a they can because it is government mandated and the people who don't use their insurance pay for those who constantly need medical care. Who regulates the insurance companies here? The insurance companies…
Government interference has raised the cost of health care at the same time driven out good doctors by raising the cost of doing business.

A man at our local Tea Party was from Bolivia. He spoke to the crowds during open microphone. I was moved by his story and his message. It involved health care –
He talked about how he had come to America for freedom, how he got his citizenship and so forth. He shared how he loved the Constitution. But then he started to talk about how he was seeing the same freedoms being taken away as he did where he lived overseas. He told us that we need to stand up. "You don't want what I came from"… stand for your freedoms. You can still gather, we could not. Then he shared horror story after horror story of socialized health care. In fact several new citizens shared their stories about that. "It is never free", "it is horrible and you have to wait forever to get medical service". In fact, one person had to wait so long in Canada to have a broken bone fixed, that by the time they got in to see a doctor, it had to be rebroken to fix it properly.
Doesn't that just sound so fun.
THE GOP IS IN FACT DEAD AND CONSERVATIVES WILL BE THE DEATH OF THEMSELVES AND THIS COUNTRY UNLESS…
Note: I felt a little revision was in order…
I am writing this because I like millions of Americans have no voice anymore, nor do I have any representation (Correction, but I could count them on one hand). I am a recently retired USAF Colonel, and have spent the better part of my life serving this country (real service, not like a politician) and much like all of you I have watched in disgust at what our elected officials have and continue to do at a blinding pace to this once great country. I can honestly say now after talking with my wife extensively – she is an ER physician – we are in unanimous agreement that America is in fact about dead. There really is no denying this and I will explain why.
As a military commander we are required to operate under a strict set of Rules of Engagement that is based upon morality, integrity and believe it or not a good amount of compassion. Our enemy has historically never cared about such things and has zero regard for human life or collateral damage. The Liberals and Democrats have become just like the enemy on the battlefield, they care not for human life (unless it can vote), they care not for collateral damage (this should be obvious), and they fight, not with integrity or honor, but simply to win at ANY cost. My fellow conservative citizens for the most part do care about such things. Therein lies the problem, how do you engage a person honorably who has no honor? The conservatives in this country are a dying breed because we believe in things like REAL personal responsibility, ZERO government intervention, and the right to liberty.
How can we win in 2012 or even 2010 when by that time they will have allowed in ANOTHER few million ILLEGAL ALIENS who will be promised free health care, food assistance, housing, and of course a free education for themselves and their children and all they have to do is remember who is promising all of this, ie. the Democrats come time to vote. Now what is happening is the Republicans – wary of losing their jobs, not the good of the country – are becoming clones of liberals, albeit they always propose spending just a little less.
This countries only hope is for the real patriots of this country to fight. We must come together under a unified voice of opposition that will not back down and will NEVER apologize for what we believe. I have served this country for 24 years of my life and during that time I have done things in the name of defending our Constitution and freedom that would make most civilized people sick, but it had to be done, and it will always haunt me, but I have ZERO regrets about it. During this time, I also lost close to 30 friends to the hands of enemy combatants with 4 of those dying in my arms. I HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT I BELIEVE AND I WILL NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR OFFENDING SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THOSE BELIEFS! More importantly I and many Americans paid the price for YOU, AND NOW IT IS TIME YOU HONORED THAT SACRIFICE! Political correctness will be the death of our 1st amendment rights my fellow conservatives until we all grow a spine. We had all better start getting angry, no wrong choice of words, PISSED OFF, enough to do something before you don't have the right to have an opinion!!
I will leave you with this fellow patriots and I hope I am dead wrong, though I believe I am not. If Mr. Obama should get re-elected in 2012 we will be on the cusp of the next civil war, and even more sad, as a military strategist, I believe this is what they want.
Please my fellow conservatives, keep up the good work, I have taken up arms against many, many foreign enemies, AND IT BRINGS ME TO TEARS at the thought of taking up those same arms against my fellow countrymen…
Respectfully,
Baus Major (Ret. Col. USAF)
P.S. Still BITTERLY clinging to my many guns, gold, and Bible!!
Thank you for your years of service. I am a 61 year old retired teacher, and I am ready to defend my country.
God Bless the America that we grew up in and God Bless our Dreams.
NO Jean. Thank you for your service. I believe you have one of the noblest jobs there are. I only wish you hadn't retired, we desperately need more teachers like you who teach a love for this country and its founding principles. Thank you again.
Thank you for your perspective. I haven't put as much thought as you into the situation, thanks for bringing me up to speed.
Part 1 of 2,
Colonel, thank you so very much for your service to our country. Your post was excellent and yes you have earned the right to say what you believe. All of us Americans have that right because of people like you, but it is gradually being taken away from us. I can't believe how many people are so blinded as to what is going on right now. Too many people don't want to work anymore for what they have, they want it all handed to them. They do not understand that they are also giving up their rights. I will never give up and I will do what is necessary to keep our freedoms that people like you and my family members have fought so valiantly for. My nephew is a captain in the USAF and flies cargo jets. My uncle was killed in WWII (8/8/1945), my father was injured with shrapnel and had malaria in WWII and his other brother had a head injury that left him with epilepsy and mental problems. Both of those uncles earned the distinquished flying cross. My other uncle was also injured in WWII.
Part 2 of 2,
My brother fought with the army in Viet Nam. I know there are many families here that have similar family histories. Every year I attend the navy reunion of the squadron that my uncle flew with. I have met a few family members that also lost their family member on the same plane with my uncle. I honor all our cherished and brave veterans.
I am frustrated and want for us here on this site and all across this country to come together and make our voices heard. We need to get better organized and start yelling at the top of our lungs – We will not go quietly!!! We have to let the media and the politicians know that us tea party people are not the problem – they are.
Thank you for your service. I agree with your post 100% and echo your sentiments.. One thing that has worried a lot of us is the 'possibility' that one thing some of those in government want is to force action on the part of Patriots in this country so martial law can be enforced. Statism is alive and well and those who are still willing to fight for this country need to keep talking and keep voting!! We hope it never comes to 'civil war'..
Rev. Jim II
Rev. Burgin II,
I really want to thank you for your service to the Lord Jesus Christ. Reverend, you ARE one of the most important cogs in this wheel. We know from the Bible and history of what happens to civilizations who are godless and immoral. We need you Brother more than ever, our Savior is being marginalized at an alarming rate. "God will not be mocked" and that is exactly what is happening. I will be praying for you.
Sir,
Please know you are not alone.
Thank you soldier! I know I am not, because of my brothers in arms just like you. Thank you for YOUR service to this country and god forbid I should ever have to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in defense of this country and it's Constitution on domestic soil, know that it will be MY honor to serve with you.
Stand tall and proud soldier, we will not let your efforts be in vain!
I have ZERO doubt you could whip this old man on the range but I seem to remember recently being able to put a six-pack inside 6" at 1k meters with my 50 cal. long rifle! Like I said, I know you could whip me.
It really worries me that we have not seen major resistance to Obama`s agenda. Yes we had the tea parties and that is a good start. It seems that the vast majority of the Republican party are absolutely clueless and they are not taking leadership. What is it going to take before millions of people hit the streets in massive protests? Our country is being dismantled and gutted, all in the name of some illusory fairness and belief that government is always superior to the individual. We need to find our voice and real fast before its too late. I`m a bit too stubborn and resolute to become a serf of Washington DC
I hope and pray that we can restore America to the principles of constitutional governance and that it will be peaceful. If it take violence to restore our republic, it will leave a wound that will take years to heal and such a internal conflict would leave us vulnerable to attacks or incursions on American interests or territory by our enemies.
Yes Sir, I agree 100%. I love reading what you said, it read it several times and it makes perfect sense. Col., what are you to do? My voice has not been heard, even standing in the pouring rain My President is so stuck in his self and snobby, he could not lower his means to even listen. My Senator hasn't read one letter I sent him, I know by his responses, i never agree and his letter says "I agree with you 100% and that is why…" I am afraid, I would write our President myself, but I am afraid of the retaliation I may receive. I am afraid for me, my children and most of all my grand children. His books that he wrote showed strong prejudice towards white American's, his apologys over seas confirmed it. I am afraid he is no different then the President of Iran. I fear the books I read, the Library I love, the music I listen to, the weight I have gained with Lupus and RA, the medical treatments I may lose, My Job, My husbands job (28 years as a car technician at a Pontiac dealership), I fear of process of elimination, I fear for my grand babies most of all. What are we to do? He is eventually going to retaliate against us, either some way or another he will eventually silence us and FOX. He can not let the truth be known, because his brainwash techniques have been working so well. I get myself so upset sometimes, I can't sleep. You should run for President yourself, or congressmen, we need Smart experienced men like you Sir, one who served his country because he loved his country. You would have my vote. God Bless you sir and please keep writing.
jamn2dblues, there are SO many of us in here who are afraid for our families and for the country that we love. Since everything that is happening is subversive and seems to be condoned by our government, we feel frustrated and don't know what to do. We are the rules-followers….the citizens that honor the Constitution, our laws, and our elected officials. It's hard for us to know what to do when all that we honor and love seems to be falling apart. We have trusted and honored our country, but now we watch others tear apart everything our country used to stand for. At some point, we are going to have to try to make a difference before it's too late…if it isn't already. Like you, I don't know what the right thing to do is.
Let's keep the faith and just keep going. I drive a cab and regularly speak with people from all over the country who believe as we do. There are more of us than there is of them (Libs). Political correctness is the equivalent of political cowardice and I don't care whose toes get stepped on any longer. People who have no honor are confronted with the truth and then on to the next one. I won't waste time arguing with them…why bother? Piss 'em off and just keep going.

Thank you for your service Colonel, God bless you. I wanted to serve when young but because of my eyesight couldn't.
You mentioned backbone. Here is an illustration for people out there that may be a little graphic but gets the point across.
How does the scorpion eat its food? it stings its victim to immobilize it. Then it regurgitates its digestive juices onto the victim because it has no stomach. Then the juices turn the victim into mush including their BACKBONE. Then and only then it eats its victim.
That's how our enemy works. See any mushy people out there?
Thanks again Colonel for reminding me about this. Its written in Revelations
Baus Major. I agree with everything you have said and would love to add this. Most of us little conservatives in our homes have taken the first step and marched in tea parties across America to demonstrate that we are ready to do whatever it takes to fight for our liberty and fight the coming tied of socialist government. But, without leadership from major conservatives across the country, without men and women all across this land who are in seats of power in government, in the military, in your local elected offices, in the police and other jobs of service such as CIA, FBI all the way down to your local fire fighter. We the little guy will never stand a chance. Fox News and Beck took a important step by laying their news channel on the line to fight. But, others will have to lead or we will be truly lost.
Your eloquent post brought me to tears. Thank you for your service and I would like you to know I would be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you to defend our country against a government gone awry.
I live in California and know all too well the effect that unbridled ILLEGAL immigration has done to our State. We are bankrupt offering free healthcare, free higher education, food stamps, and many other "free" services to illegal's breaching our borders. I welcome, with open arms, those who have taken legal steps to become citizens of this country but will never understand why it has become acceptable for our government to call anyone who wants our borders secured "racists." We are not racists…we believe in the law of the land. We recognize the ploy the power-grabbing politicians in Washington (and quite frankly, my State of California) to harvest more votes based on the promise of "we will take care of you." All the while, the money they are using making those promises is that of the American taxpayer and borrowed money which will burden future taxpayers for generations. It's a huge pyramid scheme that is falling apart before our eyes.
I make you this promise… I will stand up for our Constitution and fight against the way our government is moving to my dying breath. I will do so freely and without remorse. I DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THE UNITED STATES NOR DO I APOLOGIZE FOR MY DETERMINATION TO STAND UP AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE THREATENING OUR LIBERTY BY BURDENING US WITH SO MUCH DEBT IT WILL SHACKLE FUTURE GENERATIONS.
I stand with you, my friend.
We will not go quietly into the night Col., millions are with you. When the time comes, we will not fail.
Molon Labe
Thank you sir for your service
So many people believe health care should be free. I saw one comment that someone made about a coworker who thought that the government should just print more money to pay for these needed things. This belief is more common than many of us would like to believe. People are out there who really do not understand that for something to be provided, someone must actually do the work providing. So they don't understand that to provide something for free is to make slaves of someone else. They will tell you, of course, that they think slavery is evil, while at the same time espousing beliefs that enslave people. I really think the point that government intrusion in peoples lives enslaves them has to be made. We must continue to organize locally and some of us must even run for local school boards and other very unglamorous positions. It must start locally.
10 years ago we had 5 health insurance to pick from in NH the live free or die state the governer now in the senate fix it very well some how she drove all 4 out, things to come good by priavte HC.BHO THINKS OUR SYSTEM IS BAD. WHO WILL STOP HIM?????
I fear that no one can stop him.
Another New way for the Gov. to control us. well soon i am thinking that we will be china or something near like it is..
I wish more dems would wake up!
Pelosi, Obama, Reid and this adminsitration will continue to destroy our economy by implimenting their socialized health care, running the banks, car companies and it is very concerning to me that they will destroy the CIA and FBI's ability to effectively protect the citizens of this country. These intelligence agencies may soon be filled by individuals who align themselves with the administration and possibly will only protect the gov't leaders and the heck with the rest of us. The rich and upper middle class will be brought down to poverty levels by having to pay enormous taxes to pay off a debt that was purposely created in my opinion to destroy wealth and create a socialist government.
The great success of the previous administration is now under scrutney and possibly investigation. What a farce that is, I often think about this….pouring water on terrorist is illegal and inhumane but killing innocent babies with abortion and especially late term abortion is fine with the administration.
Anyone interested in making a difference and being involved please join us at <a href=”http://www.thenational912project.org.” target=”_blank”>www.thenational912project.org. This is where you can join a local group of individuals and become members and leaders in your own cities. Right now there seems to be alot of conversation, but not much uniformity or productivity. Thank you all for your time and keep up the "Good Fight".

Name one program the government has run successfully?? And people want the government running healthcare- You got to be outta your mind !!! The Lib's think they'll get something for free, well guess what-you'll get what you'll pay for. Take a look around the world at countries with nationalized medicine and you'll find it's a failure. Many people in those countries come to the United States for treatment. The United States has the best healthcare in the world. Yes its expensive, yes we need to find ways to make it affordable for folks, but da gub-ment isn't it.
Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid is going bankupt. Infact these programs have amassed $50 trillion dollars in IOU's and you want the government to handle healthcare ? – they cant even balance the house bank checking account.
You know, the other day at work one of my co-workers said "why don't we just print more money to fix everything? I mean, they control our money right?"
I had to attempt to educate the man, but I don't think it worked.
This is what we are up against all across the country.
It will be an uphill fight all the way…
You ever notice the cotradictions with these guys. You got obama telling everybody he's going to create jobs and fix the economy, then you got this puke telling us the Govt. is going to unemploy thousands of people that work in the insurance industry. We got Obama claiming he is going to create green jobs on one hand while thousands of people in the auto industry are losing thier jobs when drilling for oil would help alliviate this. These policies would be bad in a good economy how is any of this going to help.
As many of you probably allready know I'm not a big fan of Rep. Shakowsky. I was trying to figure out a way to get her impeached 2 weeks ago. Well there it is Everytime I hear this woman talk my friggin skin crawls. After this woman, obama and blegoyavich (however you spell that) I think instead of Texas seceeding from the union maybe we should force Illinois to seceed. Just a thought.
I'm from Illinois and believe me the southern half of the state doesn't have a lot to do with who gets elected governor. Cook County should be it's own state. Maybe we should force them to secede.
Eastern Oregon is the same way. The whole half of the state has half the population of the western half. And of course the majority of people on this side are conservative. We have always wanted to become a seperate state
I tell you Hiattn, I listen to any of these liberals and it makes my skin crawl. Really have considered leaving the country at times. So many people are complacent it makes me ill. But then the 912 project came along and had to say I was a bit more encouraged. I will not surrender coming here or any sight until the mid term elections. I think if there is not some kind of change of power then , we will truly be in trouble. But until then I will continue to listen post and convince as many people as I can that these guys are the end of what used to be a free country.
I wish I felt the same way you feel, KWilliams, but I truly believe, from watching Obama's speed of change, that we are not going to have a chance to decide ANYTHING by the next election. Look what Obama has accomplished in just 100 days. We'll be lucky to even have a voice by the next election. Like others in here, I'm just waiting for him to declare martial law. He is bowing to dictators, proposing to disarm our country, bankrupting our country, allowing terrorists to reside in our country, proposing to legalize all illegal aliens (complete legalization with our borders still wide open), ridiculing our Christian beliefs, allowing abortions at any time of fetal development, allowing Homeland Security to list Christians as terrorists, putting in place a government of tax-cheats, and taking over free enterprises and banks. That's all in a short time frame. I'm not counting on even having another free election.
I can't decide what was more frightening, Rep. Schakowsky freely admiting without fear (obviously having a socialist/marxist/statist in the WH helps) that government health care will kill an entire private sector industry or the countless government-educated dolts who cheer the march to socialism, rationing of care and loss of freedom.
This is my third time posting this. Hopefully it won't be erased this time.
Government healthcare will pass before the next midterm. All we can do is overhaul Congress by voting in candidates who think like we do on here (conservatives, traditionalists). This will be an extremely difficult task to achieve, and even if we do it will still take a lot of time to undo the damage.
With career politicians in every district and city promising their constituents their every want and desire, it will be next to impossible to gain any ground in saving our country. We can start up grassroot organizations, go door to door, start up websites and attend tea parties, but the truth is if we can't convince the average uneducated citizen that freedom, responsibility, and individualism is the way to go, then we cannot win back our republic.
Indy,
You could not be more correct. I really hate to say this, but this is truly a testament to how amazingly weak and lazy far too many American are. The other difficult part is that the education system of this country has been completely hijacked by people who absolutely hate America. I pray they are exposed for the traitors they are and dealt with as such. Thank you for such good insight.
you can sue the US government. it is called the Federal Tort Claims Act. it takes proof, requires an investigation and a darn good attorney. but it can and is being done and suits have been won. also sets legal precedent for similar situations. I have a suggestion, I make hospitals NOT FOR PROFIT as they were before the feds got into the medical business (before Medicare) and made it a win/win proposition for hospitals to not provide the best medical care they can. it is called "standard of care". 999 times out of a 1,000 patients act this way, if you happen to be the one who doesn't and you die, too bad for you. the medical personnel practiced "a reasonable standard of care". this is a cost saving feature designed to save money and limit resources. medicine designed by bean counters for the populace.
I just realized something. Back in the late 1990's, I had a discussion with a co-worker about government provided health care. The short story of that discussion, my co-worker felt that the government should provide health care for all and I disagreed with my co-worker because I knew the cost would be unbearable to the taxpayers.
This is what I just realized. That co-worker wasn't calling for health care, he was calling for health assurance. That co-worker wanted assurance from the government that he would always be healthy. This falls right into line with "the government" will always take care of you.
It's a matter of Godlessness.
its all because of greed !! and the goverment only makes things worse . insurance companies are a big fat ponsie scheme , lawyers greedy just concerned about themselves most but not all , doctors some but not most big money making machines only about the bottom line their wallet , goverment paid off by lobbiest from all three !!and lets not forget the no payers we pay for all !!! GREED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stang,
I will gladly agree with you on most of this, but, my wife is a physician who does make very good money, pre-tax. Let me tell you about after tax and insurance. My wife makes approximately $180,000 per year, after state, federal, local tax and malpractice insurance, her take home last year (before she put anything into an IRA or savings of any kind) was $81,442. Seems like a fair deal for someone who spent essentially 12 years educating herself FULL TIME, right?
no it doesnt thats why i said some but not all, its really the lawyers and the insurance companies that make all the money,i have a medical savings plan and i love it it could be better but it better then most ins ived had in 22 years, we need to get rid of the middle man the insurance co. and pay doctors directly, and cap lawsuits i dont know how 10 million dollars or so brings back a loved one ! i could give you some bad examples of doctors i know but it like any profession.no insurance companies in health would be nice !!
After I post this I am done since I am still getting moderated which is totally dumb, and my first post is not posted. I am a permanent and total disabled Vietnam veteran. I was mixing Agent Orange had cancer, my daughter died from cancer and I cannot get private health insurance poor risk. I am forced to stay with the VA hospital, which is the worst nightmare you can imagine. One to two month waits for appointments, have to travel hundreds of miles if I need surgeries and I am one of the ones who has a 100% rating, so imagine those who do not. If you want nationalized health care then you deserve the quagmire you are about to face, and as far as choice is concerned forget it.
Most people who are willing to work do not want nationalized health care. The people who don't work want to be taken care of, so they're quite happy to make us pay for their insurance. That means ALL of us will be stuck with substandard care similar to what you have. The government will decide who lives and who dies in our country. They can't even balance a budget or pay their own taxes….we're all going to be doomed.
I understand exactly where you are coming from… Thank God my wife is a physician as I refuse to set foot in a VA hospital. It really is deplorable how they treat us after they are 'done' with us.
Colonel, I have an uncle who is a Korean war vet. He just recently went to a Va hospital to have his lungs checked. Apparently he has tumors, we don't know and he isn't saying, do to maybe they didn't tell him whether it is cancer of not. They want for him to come back every 3 months in order to see if they are growing or not. He is in his early eighties, and my aunt is in her late seventies. Getting back and forth to the closest VA is really a struggle. They have already been in a car accident getting there. So I fully understand a nd appreciate where your coming from, with regards to going to Va hospitals. My dad was a Korea vet also and he seemed to say the VA he went to treated him very well, but the last one he went to was in the 1970's. Thank you for your service brother. I salute you sir.
I posted on here earlier and had my post erased. I didn't use foul language, or write anything risky. I don't understand why a site supposedly dedicated to our freedoms and traditions would erase our posts. I can understand if someone is using foul language, but I constantly read posts like yours that state their posts were erased for no reason.
With that being said, thank you for your service! Vietnam vets always make me tear up just hearing that they served in Vietnam. Most people wouldn't understand why, but my father is a fellow Vietnam vet. I know too well the history of the war and how you were treated. Whenever I shake a Vietnam vets hand they look suprised. You guys came home with no parades, no hand shakes and thanks, no recognition. You bottled it up and carried on like real soldiers. Over the last few years my father has gotten to the point where he is comfortable talking about it, and I think it has really helped him. Thanks again. By the way, you should change your profile to state that you are a Vietnam vet instead of someone who served proudly. You should be very proud to be a Vietnam Veteran!
I did some research tonight on Intense Debate and found this. I thought you might like to read it. I wouldn't take it personally. I was going to copy/paste the relevant part but it wanted to paste the whole thing. Go to the link and read it. Interesting.

I just want to say thank you for service to our country and helping to keep us safe. I appreciate all you have done for us. My brother fought in Viet Nam also and thankfully came home OK.
I feel for you. My hubby was exposed to Agent Orange, too, got diabetes and peripheral neuropathy and possibly MS from it. He gets nothing from the VA. We lost three children and out of my husband's squad of 10, only two had any kids at all. The VA is the worst nightmare imaginable. After we lost the third child and my husband's symptoms were better understood, they sent us up to HInes VA in Chicago. I went with him, and brought my kids—I didn't realize it would be an all day ordeal. The nurse finally came out to take a few samples from him and told us not to bring the kids anymore because of the bad diseases that were there. He never sees a real MD–usually gets a student. They never give him a diagnosis or treatment plan—just go stand in that line, now that one, and here for your meds, and here for the door. I was so upset by what I was seeing that I wrote our Senators and complained both verbally and in writing. I got into it with a ward clerk because a doctor called and told us that my husband was to be admitted and told us where to report. We had to drive two hours from Indiana through horrific traffic and got to the designated place five minutes late. The clerk told us that there was no orders and to leave immediately. I got into her face and before long, we were almost in a wrestling match. I'd asked the doctor specifically where to go and even had written it down. Therewere no femal restrooms on the floor, so I had to go down 13 flights to use a restroom and at the end of the day, they told me that they didn't allow any visitors. They'd call me when he was done. I told them I had to work—I needed more info than that and they said 'they'd call.' A week later, they called. I never did find out what they'd tested for or what the results were. The day I went to pick him up, he was in a ward with three other men and all were in terrible condition—couldn't even feed themselves. My husband had been getting up out of bed to take care of the other men. The last straw was when I'd noticed a medicine cup that had fallen under one of the beds. A week later, the medicine cup was still there–the room had not been cleaned for a week! I promised my husband he'd never go bak there and he hasn't. I'd rather pay out of pocket than subject him to that nonsense. It is BAD folks!
Nancy,I am very familiar with the care,or lack of care, you speak of not only as a retired nurse but as a vet. You can bet the crap calling themselves politicians get the best care our taxes can pay for. Throw the whole bunch of bums out!!!
Nancy, my father has had similar experiences in different VA hospitals all over our country. They have even tried to force my Dad to take experimental drugs….he now refuses to even set foot in a VA hospital. He also pays for regular hospitals out of his own pocket. The more our government is involved with our health care, the more they look at statistics and make cold-blooded decisions about who should survive and by what means. With our corrupt government, they will "balance the budget" in medical care by killing those who need medical care the most. Whatever a group of people decides is "worthy" of medical care will be what your health care is based on. Nancy, you have seen the worst and you and your family need to be heard by those who don't see a problem with our government's involvement in our health care. People need to wake up before its too late.
NancyNurse – thank you for posting here. People need to know how terrible our "government sponsored healthcare" system is for the citizens we, as Americans, should be holding in our highest regard. I would like to encourage you to contact Glenn directly. I believe your story is something that warrants nationwide exposure. I also believe that Glenn would believe the same. When he is ready to expose "government sponsored healthcare" for the farse that it really is, your story is paramount.
I almost forgot, thank you soldier for your service to this country. Let's make sure it wasn't in vain!
I have been using the same doctor for 15 years in another city (because there aren't any GOOD doctors in mine) and I have a disabled son. I'm very concerned about this. If this is passed (and who is to stop it?) will we be made to que up and be on some list for a primary care doctor so that we can tell him what's wrong with us (we do have a LONG HISTORY we can give him) and what about all of our meds? How do we get those in the meantime? Some of them, we can't JUST quit taking? My son has seizures. He'll die. This is insane. I'm talking to my doctor the next time I go in June about paying him with cash and leaving out insurance, the government and everything else. I must have my medicine. I'll deal with my son's situation in some way….the government is penalizing those of us who have been RESPONSIBLE.
The government is going to look only at numbers….what disease is curable cheaply, what disease will be costly. That's how they'll make their decisions. If someone truly has a costly illness, that person will probably NOT get good medical care. Plus, decisions may be made based on age, weight, heredity, etc. It sounds to me like it's going to be scary for all of us. No wonder the government is in favor of assisted euthanasia and abortion. They'll soon be making profits from what they DON'T do for us!
This is all in God's hands, so have faith and do what you can do. My prayers are with you and your family.
I'm not sure it's the moderators. The site is definitely broken and there is a problem with either the programming or there is some malicious activity going on. It has been messed up for at least 3 days now. Please, do not let up on voicing your opinions and thoughts. Many of us enjoy your posts!
Listening to all the statics about uninsured americans, it makes me wonder, how much do those families pay for cable, internet or cell phones. Would they be able to give up a luxury or two to take care of the needs of their family? I know my family qualifies for Medicaid, but I do not want to give up my ability to be able to choose the Dr. I want, or to have to sacrifice the quality of care we get, it is just not worth it to me. I would much rather cut cost in my budget somewhere else. I would love to see people that are healthy and able to work being kicked off of some of these government programs so the money can go where it is really needed, to the disabled who cannot work, and our veterans who have sacrificed so much for this country, and of course to the children it is not their fault that their parents are not able or not willing to provide them with coverage. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy.
Yes Krissy,
I have noticed the same tendency for all these "needy" people to have cell phones. It really speaks to their priorities doesn't it. It seems to be:
1. latest gadgets
2. no responsibility
3. free roof over their heads
4. some "free" money in their pockets
4. freedom to practice bizarre sexual deviations
I work in the healthcare industry everyday I see exactly what you are talking about. Unisured patients have cell phones, nice cell phones, cars. Priorities are all screwed up. If this goes thru our quality of healthcare will plummet.
I myself am uninsured. I am a cash pay fee for service. I have chosen to not pay for insurance right now. Fortunately I can do that. I do not agree with most insurance companies on how they run their business. However, if the reform goes thru it will not only affect them it will punish my boss and hurt her business. She gives so many thousands of dollars of healthcare away every year by her own choice. If her business is hurt she won't be able to keep doing that.
Actually I am a staunch Conservative, But in this area I must flex. Health care cost for me and my family are more than a lot of people pay for their home every month. We had a child three years ago and my wife was borderline gestational diabetes. She tested one time high on her blood sugar. Because of this diagnosis we are paying a extra 125 a month on our policy. Our health care cost have more than doubled in a five year period of time and what it covers has been more than cut in half. The biggest reason we conservatives keep losing elections is because of issues like this. Most Americans are really suffering in this area and some serious regulation needs to be put in place. But , I do not agree with a socialistic medical system.
I'm not sure why your post bothers me so much, and I agree with most of it. That being said not everyone without insurance is a spendthrift slacker. I didn't have insurance for years, nor did I have the little 'luxuries' unless you count food and shelter as a luxury. The shelter for a few months was my car, so I did have to splurge on car insurance. I lived with an abscess in my tooth for a few years because I couldn't afford insurance let alone a dentist. The state said I made too much money, yet I was living out of my car on and off, so medicare/medicaid was out of the question. I wouldn't use ER's as my primary care, because it s just wrong. The one time I did finally go to the ER, it was an emergency- and since I couldn't pay also destroyed my credit…and impaired my job options since many employers run your credit now to see if you'll be a good employee. It didn't matter that I am a very hard worker with a quick mind and lots of training.
In my state [NJ] many companies don't even offer insurance, and if they do it is unaffordable. As a single woman it was close to $1000/mo for just me- thank god I don't have kids. Incidentally my current satellite, cell and internet combined cost less than $170/mo. I now pay for my own insurance via my temp agency…it costs me $250/mo. Hopefully my credit will be cleaner by the time the technical/telecom jobs start hiring again and I can get out of this CSR hell.
You're correct, not everyone without health insurance has nice luxuries, but I do believe you are the exception rather than the rule. My cousin is a little looney (ok, a lot looney, he lives in Chicago and is a soc ialist), but when he moved there from our rural area, he stayed in a homeless shelter. He reported to me that almost all the people in the homeless shelter had their own big screen TV's and Playstations! He stated that you could always tell when the welfare checks would come in, because the crazies would be out in force since they had the money to buy alcohol. Its a myth that you can't buy alcohol and cigarettes with food stamps, but think again. My sister in law worked at a grocery store while in college and the food stamp card allows a "cash back" option. They'd go through the line buying their expensive brand name groceries, get their cash back, then use it to buy their smokes and booze.
Yes, but Obama thinks he is one of the "beautiful people," to whom the rules don't apply. Just like he can have rock concerts and party on Air Force One…Even though it is out of the reach of other Americans. His attitude is that "rich people suck, except me and my friends…"
Wow! Where do I start? How about God bless you and thank you for your service. I have too have had similar feelings of despair and dissolusionment, that our beloved country is, and has been for quite some time; on a gradual decent away from the founders intent. I dont know if this current trend can or would ever reverse course, but I do think the best that one could hope for, is to slow or blunt this hideous tranformation into statism. I dont profess to have all the answers, but from my perspective, a small portion of the answer lies in you and I–with the larger portion remaining in the generation that will follow. That is why I have succumbed to the notion, that the most important contribution I can make to my nation, is to impart my knowledge and perspective to my children. Singularly, this is the only thing that I can have a direct impact in; however if we as conservatives could ever get shed our apathy and speak as one, we might be able to preserve the country just long enough for our decendants to gain a foothold, and continue the struggle. Once again, thanks for your service, and to all that have fought and died to protect her.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and know you couldn't be more correct about the future of this country resting in the educating of future generations. I left the service in November of 2008 and am in the process of finishing my PhD, so that I can do just that. Think I will be a hated man on college campuses (at least by my peers)? I hope so.
This is on on the mark – Americans strive to fight fair – but no one in the world fights this way – war for them is win at any cost or die – we tend to be too good and end up paying way too much to everyone be it money or precious lives and after all that still get the worst of the blame and anger. I say lets learn to fight unfair with unfair else you cannot survive.
I posted this earlier and it was erased, but here goes.
Government healthcare will be here before the next midterms. We can't stop it and I have accepted that fact. After it passes, all we can do is vote in 912 minded representatives in the next midterms. It will take a massive overhaul in Congress to get this done and it will be next to impossible to achieve. After that, it will be a huge challenge just to undo the damage done.
With our current career politicians who promise the masses their every want and desire, it will be very difficult to stop this steady yet unnoticed flow of socialism. We can get out the grassroots message and go door to door, and we can put up fresh faced politicians who will serve the people. The fact is the voter will not vote for freedom, responsibility, and individualism unless they are educated and enlightened by we the people.
America is not lost!
We should all be concerned by the demagogic propositions by the democrats (legalizing illegal aliens, national health care, free housing and education).
This year they will get their majority and pass all their big plans. That's the bad news.
The good news will come the following years.
National health care, green jobs, education and housing are NOT free or sustainable and WE (democrats, republicans, independents, rich or poor) will discover it pretty soon.
Illegal immigrants are by majority Mexican. Maybe this last election, Democrats got the support from the latinos for hope of an immigration amnesty. But, Mexican are social conservatives and I will be glad to have them in my team.
So Democrats bring it on!
The only thing I would disagree with you on is that the Republicans are just as much of the problem.
Check out the videos on http://www.icaucus.org and see why. I constantly drop this link hoping people will see that the two parties are the same. Follow the money and you will find which way their votes go.
I have to agree with you. Greed has taken over almost everything in our country. And absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Republicans are struggling so badly right now that we might be able to make some changes in their party that they would be willing to go along with. We need to have numbers on our side, however.
I agree with you many republicans are the same than democrats. The only difference is on the pet project.
But you have some 'real' republican like Ron Paul.
So there must be major problems with the vent thread again? I can't even load the page on my computer. There was trouble this morning. Posts were disappearing and refreshing the page only reloaded the same one minus any comments anyone was posting. Anyone know about it?
This morning my comments loaded, then hey presto, they were suddenly gone, along with several whole subjects. I put it down to my very poor timing to have contributed at the time the site was being updated. Now that I see others are having problems too, I wonder.
Oh yes!!! Thank you so much!!!
I am going to start writing letters there.
Thank you again. I have bookmarked it this time and I checked to make sure it is listed
Your welcome Susan_n_WAstate.
Not my insurance in that case they would have paid $5,500 and we would have paid 400. I've never seen my insurance only pay that low of a fraction.
Wait a tick You hit on it when I first read your reply I thought well why should somebody who has no insurance get to pay less than me if that was the caseI would get rid of my insurance (ding, ding, ding,) When that thought ran through my head the lights went on. Thanks Nitro you just solved the healthcare problem.
NancyNurse, this is getting really weird.
If gov't health care is so great, then why does almost every Medicare patient have a supplimental health insurance policy? I can forsee national health care going through and being so bad, that we will all have to suppliment it anyway, thus most paying twice. Spread the wealth everyone! Then the ones that can't afford the supplimental will complain " I can't afford the supplimental health insurance, boo hoo." Won't we be back to where we started?
National heath care will guarentee a policy -they do not guarentee service. Many in Canada can not get in to see a doctor although they have national health care – NO SERVICE. They come here when it is an urgent situation.
Our health care system is still the best in the world, to make it like every other countries poor health care system is a giant mistake. Our current system has problems, but they can be worked out in the private sector. We do not need to create a bureaucracy – that is where the money will go to – more and bigger Gov't. Everyone will have to suffer for a few! It smells!
Does anyone remember the new web site that just started up this past week where we can go and give senators a grade and write a letter right from the site? It is new, I watched an interview on Fox & Friends Thursday morning. It was also featured on another program on Fox on Thursday. Thought I bookmarked it, but can't find it now and am not having much luck searching for it.
Susan_n_WAstate, is this the link that your looking for?

Great Site!! Thanks

What's even more sick than this Jan woman, (whose husband was recently in prison) is the crowd cheering her. Let them all be the first to stand in line at the post office to get a blood test. Hasn't the VA's poor care taught these ppl anything? You will have to be among the rich movie stars, nasty media or a politician to get private, GOOD healthcare.
Leftists, marxists, soc ial ists, communists, fascists, nazis, are all different labels applied to pretty much one type of person. That type that decides that they need to control more people in more aspects of their lives. Time for Democrats to wake up and realize that their party has been hijacked by these "people."
Obama, regardless of what label the slobbering left wishes to place upon him, is indeed, and in action, that sort of evil person.
If the US goes to a national healthcare system where will foreign politicians go for their medical treatments? Trust me, I used to live in Canada and whenever a politico or their family are in need they rush south for the best care in the world. Good enough for the masses but hey, I'm special. Almost sounds like Mr Biden concerning mass transit. Is our system perfect? No. Are the others better? No. I see benefits from both systems as well as major flaws in both. You shouldn't be afraid of going to the doctor because it's going to cost too much but then you shouldn't wonder if your doctor gives a damn as he is going to get a paycheck anyway. If you like long lines in the emergency room because your doctor can't see you for 3 weeks, rationed services to save costs and all around mediocre service, great. By the way, it's really not free. Compare the tax rates in both countries. Tax free day in Canada in months later than ours. I could go on forever.
