What the heck! It is in our nation's interest to spend $300,000 for a scareforce one photo op? This is an outrage. There is no end to the insults this egomaniac throws at the nation that he has made his home. I am literally beginning to feel like I am being raped by this man!

It goes to show that he and his office have forgotten 9/11. I live in MI and am right in the flight path of the local airport. I STILL watch planes and get a shiver up my spine from fear . I can only imagine how those in NYC felt seeing that planbe and teh fighter jets following. Its the mentality of America is bad and BO is god (notice teh small g) They think we worship him ..SMH

Everyone is saying that AF1 is Obama's plane. It is not. I do agree with Mr. Sauders post about a political appointee. Sam 28000 and 29000 as far as my husband knows, is controlled by the USAF, when that plane is on the ground at JFK airport, all security for that plane is the responsibility of the USAF not the Secret Svc, who protects the president. If BO is not on the 747 it is an USAF plane and has nothing to do with the President. Man I hate to come to his defense, sort of, but it is possible he didn't know, being that there was another 747 at Andrew's AFB for his disposal if needed. If I recall, only both the 747s go up if it is an international mission.
And please put back the control of those planes to the military and not some hand-picked brown nosed flunkie. That whole fiasco could have been a diversion for something else as Oldbikefixer stated, but what is the diversion for??
Hate to disagree with your husband on a couple of points. Yes, unless the Pres on board they are just AF aircraft, but they are on 24/7 standby for the President. They are no fail mission, the same as the Marine Helo's. Which means both planes fly, both planes are identically equipped and stocked. Now, for one to go "punch" holes in the clouds, they have to check with the WH to ensure the Pres. is not planning to fly. This also includes test hops and check flights. When AF! or Marine 1 is on the ground, the Marines, Secret service, airforce all have security on the birds. Now, the photo op could very well been approved, but the low level flight over NY was done right stupid, and The only an AF pilot would do that is under orders, a 1500 ft flight of a city like NY is down right unsafe particularly with a 747, there is no real clearence if something would go wrong.
What I want to know is why an Air Force pilot would allow himself to do such a stupid thing. Usually Full Bird Colonels have enough savvy, and whiskers not to something so stupid. Somebodies head is going to roll, but not the right one.
Whether the Prez knew about it or not, this whole story is surreal to me? Does anyone not see this as a bizarre event, photo op or not? If it was a photo op then why would they not inform the Mayor? Maybe someone should be looking at the other hand in New York. This seems very much like a distraction specifically targeted at New Yorkers…I'm just sayin'…
So Obama says he knew NOTHING about this "mission". Not only did it cost us close to $400K, but scared the crap out of many people. I think this was done partly to pay back some Hollywood director. I would not be surprised to see that shot in a movie someday soon. Now if Obama really didn't know about it, who is running the government? Air Force One is the Presidents plane. Which means it HAS to have his permission to leave the ground. Nobody is taking blame and no blame will ever be announced. Because someone would have to be fired and admit the mistake and what they were thinking. Just more of the same ol', same ol' with the Obama and his goons.
I just think this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard! And, I have heard a lot of dumb things! One report that I heard was that Air Force One was flown over NYC for a photo op! What?!?! I really don't care why it was done, there is no excuse for that kind of wrecklessness! There should have, at the very least, been some kind of warning for the people in NYC that day (or at least clearance, from what I understand the Mayor- Bloomberg, right?- didn't ok it or even know about it). The wounds from 9/11 have not healed. To see a jet flying that low right over the city would terrify the most unshakable person. To me it is just inexcusable!
I suppose we are to believe Obama had no idea where his plane was. How gullible does he think we are? If he can't keep track of Air Force One and keep it safe and secure, what does that say about how he can keep our country safe & secure. Now, it's going to take two weeks to do an internal investigation into the matter. We're not talking about missing car keys – it's Air Force One for goodness sake!!!!

Well for the length of time those planes were flying around New York City, I'd betcha' (and I ain't got no money), that he authorized this trip, and there were all sorts of people on-board (e.g., Jay Leno, Opra Winfrey, Ayers, etc.) and anybody else he owed for his election. This was a sight-seeing excusion at the cost of the fear and terror it caused those already beaten up New Yorker's, and it was also an act of terror. I can just see the fools (with the exception of the crew who had no choice) he had onboard laughing, drinking, eating, and having a great time.
Oh, oh, almost forgot, at our expense.

Hopefully, once we get this idiot administration out of office, the next President will be willing to show us (We The People), what went on. The silver lining: New Yorkers overwhelmingly voted for Obama. Now this scare (among other scary things he's done) may have some New Yorkers rethinking that choice. Gotta love a few more people getting a little shot of reality!

I would actually believe Obama didn't know about it. Before you hit the thumb's down hear me out. The Obama team has filled all of its posts with political types. Leon Pannetta being the most obvious. This also holds true with the guy who is in charge of the AF1 operation. From 1930's until now it has always been run by a member of the military. Obama changed that to a political appointee. I can't remember his name, but I remember he was pretty pro-Obama from the start. He wants to impress his new boss by getting some picture's of Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty. I will not even begin to understand the thought process as to the why. I would bet that he really didn't even think Obama needed to know. The entire stunt is bad political theater and full of idiotic decisions. Stop thinking of Obama as a cross between Dr. Evil and The Brain. Instead, think of him more like Pinky.

I used to not understand the rabid anti-Bush sentiment. I didn't agree with everything George Bush did and felt he had let me down on several key issues. However, I rabidly hate this man and everything he stands for.

At this point in time I'm not sure if they need to even bother creating any more diversions…it's not like the media would actually report anything negative about their beloved one.
This is a question I have that I have seen no one else ask.. Where are the photo's that were so important that it was worth spending nearly $400,000 and scarring a large number of people in New York and risking their lives in Panic. I would like to judge for myself whether these photo's were of such critical need that these things were done.

Once again Obama admits that he does not know what is going on in his own administration. I submit that if Obama can't even run his own staff in his White House, then how could we expect him to run the Country, the Economy, Health care, be the leader of the free world, and quite frankly run our lives?
Don't be so quick to judge poor Barack. Here's what REALLY happened: The White House Department of Making His Highness Look Good came up with that idea, but Barack squashed it. He really put his foot down! He reportedly said, "What would those poor New Yorkers think, after all that 9-11 stuff?" So they came up with a better plan. They called George W. Bush down in Crawford and told him that Obama needed a favor. Would he personally fly an Air Force One look-alike over the Statue of Liberty for a photo op? Hell yes, said George. He then called one of his many buddies in Hollywood (you know how they love Bush and are always sucking up to him) and asked if the fake AF1 used in the Harrison Ford movie was still around. It just happened to be sitting around on a back lot at Columbia Pictures. So George, being a real pilot, borrowed the plane and flew it at treetop level around New York, scaring the hell out of everyone. The media reported the whole thing as being Obama's fault, but they have always hated him anyway. So that's what happened.
This is one of two things: An evil minded Government experiment for reasons unknown or sheer stupidity which is alot worse I dont know anyone STUPID enough to do this! This is the best minds the USA has ? how about some common sense. This woulda never happened under the Bush administration. This kinda of stuff upsets me as much as CAP and Trade and Nationalized Healthcare it is pure Evil or HUGE STUPIDITY!! This just came to mind — Is it possible that the fly-over incident was just a diversion? While the media was busy watching and reporting details of the NYC fly-over fiasco, was there something going on in D.C. that they didn't want anyone to see? Hmmm… I really don't know the answer to that. Judge Napolitano is a consevative Libertarian, and Janet Napolitano is quite the opposite, for sure. The Judge is quite outspoken, and I'm sure that if they were related he would have mentioned it sometime during the 8 years I've watched him on Fox News Channel. I'm not sure they spell their names the same way — perhaps one of them spells it "Neopolitano"? I gotta do some research on that…

When I think back at the range of pay for play schemes, the targeting of candidates and their children for political gain and the vendettas launched for political gain (Troopergate against Plain and Interrogation Techniques against the Bush Administration), I see the absolute corruption that I most feared.
At this point in time, the White House issued a very credible threat to anyone who dared divulge the secret to the public. Does that bother anybody but me?
If the Administration has the leverage to enlist the cooperation of the FAA, Air Force, Police Departments and the other agencies involved……………..Just who is looking out for the citizens of the United States?
If anyone has been waiting for a solid reason to get involved in the political process to select leaders who are NOT already in somebody's pocket, now is the time. Your Senators, Representatives, Governors, Sheriffs, Police Chiefs and so on are all people who should be looking out for our best interests.
Many states are already in the candidate filing and primary processes, get involved everywhere within the reach of your vote. Even if you aren't 100% literate in the processes, don't worry, your very presence will have the effect of tamping down any monkey business that may be business as usual.
If you spot corruption, don't hesitate to report it somewhere. State AG's offices are a start, go up the food chain if necessary.

Did you actually expect to get the truth out of Obama. This sorry excuse for a human being could not handle the truth. I have stopped counting his lies since after he took theoath of office. Even Jimmy Carter had a higher approval rating after his first 100 days in office than Obama does. So you can see where this regime is headed because Obama's first 100 is a good as he gets.
I think that the people of NYC should ban together and file a class action lawsuit against the adminstration….the government needs to know that even they don't have the right to terrorize American citizens….people in this country need to fight back against this sort of thing…they don't have the right to ride roughshod over us, and they need to be held accountable for their stupid actions too…..
Whether Obama knew about it or not frankly doesn't matter to me. This careless, thoughtless act demonstrates the mindset of the entire administration. These are people Obama put in those positions.
With the exception of the pilots and crew (who have no choice but to obey such orders), those involved are simply of the mind that they are now in control and don't feel the need to answer to anyone. They can afford to be reckless with the safety and sanity of the American people because, after all, they are virtually unencumbered by opposition, so they operate without consequences. The entire power hierarchy of our government operates without empathy for We The People. If anything, they have a curious form of animosity, similar to that of a child with an ant farm and a magnifying glass on a sunny day.

Bammie won't spend a dime to help his brother, who's living under a sheet of corrugated steel, somewhere in the slums of Africa, or his Aunt, who resides with the drug dealers and gang-bangers in a welfare project tenement. OK, this woke up the journalist in me. I have yet to hear a paid journalist (and today I use the term loosely) ask the following questions:
1. Mr. President, did you in fact not know that your plane was being used for this photo op?
2. Mr. President, for what purpose will the photos be used?
3. Will you be using your own personal funds to pay for these photos or was this done at taxpayers' expense?
4. Exactly who were the people who planned this and made the requests for the use of your plane?
5. Who approved the use of your plane for this photo op?
6. Who participated in this exercise?

I've been very disturbed about this from the get-go. I, for one, am not satisfied with the explanation. I want proof! That's why we need to change the law that running for the office of President of the United States requires that you be at least a third or fourth generation american…… i.e. you have some skin in the game!

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I did that the first couple of times for Obama throughout his campaign…
Ok he's relatively new to politics and public speaking I can understand being nervous and maybe saying something accidentally, it is only human to err. However when there is a PATTERN of mistakes and relationships with unsavoury characters, it is no longer a mistake and the individual should no longer be given the benefit of the doubt. Obama has said and done too many things that he claims as a mistake there is a point where benevolence becomes blind ignorance and mistakes become habits and intent.
I do not believe that Obama "did not know" about the flight. It's HIS plane for Pete sake, how can you not know that someone took your 747 and a fighter escort to go take a photo shoot?!? I think at the very least they should've released the information to the public so people would at least KNOW and not start running for their lives and having flashbacks to 9/11. I can't even find the words to describe how infuriating this is, flying jets around New York, KNOWINGLY terrorizing people, just so Obama can have some pretty mural of Air Force 1 in the Oval office, sickens me. That shows a true lack of consideration and disconnect from the welfare, safety and mental peace of mind of the people, knowing that it will terrify the public, but going ahead and doing it anyways.

Hold on one bloody second, I need to clarify and YOU need not jump the gun… I never had any inclination to vote for him! I did not vote for him! I never liked him in the first place! My mind was really made up from the start that I was not going to vote for him. However, I DO believe in giving people at LEAST a chance to state their case. I at least gave him the INITIAL fairness of the "benefit of the doubt" INITIALLY! At the beginning, his behaviour could have been excused as ignorance and inexperience… However, it was on a REOCCURRING basis, one mistake became two, two mistakes became three, now I lost count. His mistakes were challenged and he said, "Well that's not what I meant…" When it was made public that he surrounded himself with people like Wright had prior ties to people like Ayers and other lunatics, my "benefit of the doubt" and "fairness" flew out the window right then and there.
I was merely making a point that one or two isolated incidents occur, it's poor judgment, that's understandable. However, when there is a PATTERN of CONTINUOUS behavior, it is no longer an isolated incident or accidental. It follows to reason that the man is either flat out incompetent or ignorant or on the other hand, is intentionally doing these things. I was making a case that because of his inexperience, it wouldn't be hard to imagine he is just incompetent or ignorant. On the other hand given his past remarks and connections, he may be acting intentionally.
I don't know… but I am NOT part of the problem! I did not support him, did not donate money to his campaign, did not campaign for him, I did NOT vote for him! On Memorial Day we are having a fly over in our community sponsered by the VFW..It will be in the newspaper and every city and county official will be aware of this event..I don't understand why the NYC fly over was to be held as such a secret..Defies logic..I don't blame the NY public, Mayor and Chief of police for being so angry..It tell them how unimportant this administration feels about local governments.

Maybe, by the grace of God, some good will come of this most asinine of asinine abuses of the privileges that come with the office. NYC has how many million people in it on a daily basis? Many of those millions (it should be ALL of them) have to be as outraged by this as we are. Many of the left leaning citizens should be ready to be propped up to a more centered position. If we act now, while the memory is still very fresh, we should be able to help them "see the light". I propose that everyone that sits at the computer every day, posting their gripes, take a few moments to reach out to the people in their address books and invite them to come join us. I have several friends that live and work in NYC. They tend to be quite liberal and we have some heated debates but they are still my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is the kind of stunt that could open their eyes to the atrocities that are, and will be, occurring at stroke of this sorry freak's pen. (My apologies to the rest of the freaks in the world!) Having been left wing liberals, they won't know much about this movement we have going so they won't know how to get involved. It is up to us, you and me, to "enlighten" them. Send everyone in your address book (especially NYer's) an invitation to just look at the 912 Project Home page. Include other links that you think might be encouraging to them and their sense of hopelessness. Instead of just hammering out gripes on the keyboard, take some positive action to grow this movement. Get them sending letters and emails and faxes and making calls to their representatives in Congress and the Senate, signing petitions, participating in future "Tea Parties". Help "them" become one of "us'.

North Korea launched a rocket. Iran is close to a nuke. 20,000 troops are being recalled and other military forces are learning how to put down civilian insurrections. Then Air Force One flies over ground zero and conjures up images and feelings of fear and loss among NYC residents….. and they knew it would do that!!!

You would think some one who is as smart as our DEAR LEADER would have heard of a little known computer program called PHOTO SHOP I understand it might be hard for the most tech savy person to ever be president to have heard about this little know program. This is too funny, as I was driving my 10 year old son to school, who was only 3 when 9/11 happend, looked at me and said that flying a plane like that was stupid. Then he looked at me and said, couldn't they have save a bunch of money and just photoshoped the plane?

I think that this administration is the most arrogant we have seen in a very long time, if not ever. Did you see Baghdad Bob’s (Robert Gibbs) response to this? He treated it like a joke. I watched that video in horror until I realized that it was a publicity stunt. Then my horror turned to rage. Those poor people were running for their lives. Obama claims he had no knowledge. Well Obama blames the CEO’s of all the banks/auto companies for stealing our money, I think that he should accept full responsibility for his administrations actions, and should resign in lieu of termination. And no I do not buy it that he had no knowledge. He must have been following the voices in his head, oh wait that was his teleprompter. This guy can’t even wipe his a55 without his teleprompter.

It wasn't like people couldn't see them flying around. The report said the whole thing was arranged by white house staff. Why the hell was this “photo-op” such a secret, that’s what I want to know? The fact they did what they did doesn’t surprise me, nothing these days coming out of Washington is a shock to me anymore. I really want to hear an intelligent explanation for why this mission was a secret. If I was a conspiracy theorist (I’m not because I believe the government is to stupid to pull anything off together), I would say that with the current drop in our governments attitude towards the threat of terrorism and the release of CIA documents, why not show the, I don’t know what they’re called now so I’ll use ‘terrorists’. Let’s show them how weak and fearful America still is of them. That’s what I would think if I believe in things like global warming, and the governments involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Let me tell you something, with all the crazy $h!t our government is doing nowadays, I honestly thought this had to be untrue when I first heard of this. I mean REALLY?! How much more incompetent can you be? I am absolutely OUTRAGED after seeing the video of the people of NYC running through the streets in terror. Yes, our government has forgotten September 11th, and in perhaps the the most thoughtless and insensitive way imaginable!
I agree with all you say except I feel that THEY KNEW EXACTLY what this would do to the people in New York and I think THAT was exactly what he wanted it to do. This is bad news any way you look at it. Either the Pres. cant manage his staff and they dont respect him enough to run things like this past him, or he ok'ed it and he is a fool. Maybe the Pres. didn't get the memo because he was on a smoke break.
I don't trust Pres Hussein. I will make no secret of that. What scares me is that this wasn't an oops on anyone's part. If NYPD officials were told, but we told not to inform the public?? Why so he could feel the thrill his "comrades" got when they did it on 9/11? I don't trust this demon, and I don't think anyone else should either. There were hidden reasons for this flyover. If he wanted a photo op over ground zero, then he should by some editing software and have it photo shopped, not terrify thousands of people. There were other reasons for this flyover and I know that we need to find out what they were before it's too late. I guess the "Change" he was talking about was going from some sense of security to fear and confusion, and the "Hope" he talked about, I don't think that was for us.

It's my belief that Obama was well aware of this stupid act but denied it because he didn't want the bad press. If the liberal CBS news is telling the truth, they reported that the Feds notified the NYPD beforehand, that they were going to do this, but not to inform their public. If that's true, that would disappoint me in decision making of the NYPD Command Staff. It was my understanding that after 911 the NYPD told the Feds they were capable of protecting their own city and have proven that to be true and have done an excellent job in doing so. If this report is true it just goes to show that if you play along with the Feds it will leave you tainted.
This is the absolute height of arrogance from this administration and illustrates just how much they care more about their narcissistic selves than anything or anyone else. Their claim that Obama is furious and didn't have any knowledge about this beforehand is just plain bullcrap. He's angry all right. Angry that this little stunt backfired in his face. As far as not knowing about it, not according to a former Secret Service agent that was on talk radio today. The schedule for these planes requires much planning for any contingencies and the President is always made aware of use of these planes at all times. I can't recall ever seeing so many lies and so much hypocrisy from an administration like we're seeing from this one. What he did to those people in NY is indefensible and a disgrace.
What if it wasn't a photo op? What if very few officials knew they were going to do it? What if the officials who had the plane fly that path know something we don't ? What could it mean that a plane used as Air Force One, getting chased by an F-16, buzzed the WTC Ground Zero?

Like you said.. The man is a Full Bird Colonel.. He flies where and when he's told.. He performed no unsafe maneuvers. He has clearance from Air Traffic Control.. There is no reason for him to disobey his order to fly.
Some one mentioned it and I agree, someone had to order him. Yet, he could have refused the order due to safety. 1500-2000 ft is much of a safety margin if something would have gone wrong ie a bird strike. Wasn't there a bird strike a while back around the same altitude?
I'll give you the narcissistic part, that's pretty evident, but I'm not sure who's responsible for whom in that administration. Axelrod was one of the masterminds of the campaign and I'm kinda curious where he and Emmanuel and the whole bunch are really getting their orders.
