What is really concerning me is this new release of the detainees being interrogated and also Obama has decided to release the names of the CIA agents who did the interrogations and their home addresses and families.  What is wrong with this President. Is he out to hurt America and its citizens?

We've had it easy for so long that it's hard to believe it could all be pulled out from under us. I believe that we ARE strong and will do what's required of us when the time is right. Shedding of blood, sweat, and tears, to say the least.

When the Bible talks about New Babylon in Revelations, people are distressed about how all the gold and valuables are no longer available. It talks about how great New Babylon was. The rebuilding of Babylon certainly has my attention. Thanks for the information. I totally agree with you…the Bible IS truth!

Everything that has gone down recently it reminds me of a book I read a short time ago called "It Can't Happen Here".

<DIV>I thinnk Marc Levines book says it all , \”Liberty and Tyranny\”. It is so close to our present situation, it is just scary.

  5. TPR65 says:

My Congressman voted no on this!!! I told him that I was very happy that he did.

Find out if your Reprentative voted yes or no on this Anti American BIll that is destroying our Constitution!

With a little luck the GE quid pro quo situation will pan out into a scandal of epic proportions. Hopefully it's the death of cap and trade at the very least!

  7. Deanna says:

That article makes it all sound so benign. Does any one have any news about the blue ribbon panel that was looking into how to make GIVE mandatory?

  8. TPR65 says:

Read the writing on the wall folks. The Obama Administration is attempting to circumvent the Constitution and turn this Nation into a Police State. Every town across America needs to send a clear message. On the 4th of July of this year stage a Freedom Day Rally in front of your Town Halls or Government Centers and let The Obama Administration that not only are we onto his plans to cast aside our Constitutin, we will not let this happen!!! Obama statement during the campaign:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

The Obama "national security" objectives now appear clearer.

  10. Nomarxism says:

The Fascist brown shirts are the next logical step to move us toward the dictatorship Obama dreams of instituting in this country. He has a different vision for all of us. The "Change" is slowly becoming clear.

  11. detestObama says:

How about that. Obama just signed a 5.7Billion dollar plan to put people back to work! He is tripleing the Americorp work force!

Now Obama can give his cronnies a job! I wander if he will tell them that they are not going to make very much!
Why does it cost so much to put people to work for free!

  12. hogwrench says:

Check out DOD directive 1404.10. Was signed the 29th of Jan. I see alot of references to brown shirts, well folks this is it. It basically makes a civilian military. Yet in the memo I see no reference to posse comitatus. But I forgot even if it is mentioned the patriot act gives the president the authority to impose martial law pretty much whenever he wants. If you do not believe me look at the patriot act section 1076. When is the rest of this country going to wake up and see what is happening? What happened to the first ammendment?. I guess if you are a member of the extremist ALF of ELF you can express your views, yet if you are a concerned citizen acting peacefully protesting anything about this administration, you are labeled a "right wing extremist".
And then when Baghdad BOB (Robert Gibbs) was asked about the tea parties he stated we did not know they were occuring. We have their attention, yet they are not listening. I agree with many others in this post, and I hope you are all prepared for the worst.

    • DMN says:

I've also been trying to tell others that Obama could declare martial law at any time and have complete control of the government until HE personally deems that martial law should end. Obama could even use our group as a reason for declaring martial law, if he can make us seem dangerous enough. I think the country is going to wake up as Obama hits their paychecks to pay for his crazy agenda. Let's just hope it won't be too late by then.

Well, I appreciate the clarification. Your original post implied that there couldn't be that many people whose taxes were being affected and then you talked about median income and then you referenced 67K without any units attached. So, I was a little confused as to whether or not you were saying that 67K was the median income or if that was the number of households either affected or not affected.

So, here's the problem(s) with your argument as I see it.

First, you are advocating the confiscation of the property of one group of people for the purpose of giving it to another group of people. I have an inherent problem with that. I believe it is unfair and unAmerican to take property from someone just because of the notion that "they can afford it" for any reason. Now, lest you make the assumption that I am trying to save myself some money because I perhaps fall into the income bracket that would be taxed, I'll simply say this. There was a time when I made around twice your median income figure. Now, I'm worth exactly what I have in my pocket and I'm competing for a job that pays $1/hr less than I made when I first graduated college 20 years ago.

Second, I'm not sure you've done the math. The total for this bill alone is calculated to be $5.7 Billion. Of course, like any government project, the final cost will be much more. But we'll use that number for now. Now, using the table you provided, let's say that we confiscated every single dollar of those at or above the $250K range. That's 2,245 households with a median income of $418,063 each. If you multiply that together you get $938,551,435. That total comes to about 16.5% of the total bill due for this program alone. That puts us $4,761,448,565 ($4.7B) short of the total. Are you seeing where I'm going with this?

Now, here is my ultimate problem with this. Taxes are not, or should not be, about "fairness". And a progressive tax is particularly unfair. Now, a Fair Tax or a Flat Tax would be fair. But that's obviously not what is desired. I would submit that someone like Bill Gates has done more to create jobs and improve the stream of revenues to the Treasury than any person making $67k a year. So, why is it "fair" to thank him for that action by penalizing or punishing him more by confiscating a larger percentage of his property?

    • ft985 says:

Thank you for responding in such a cordial manner. I am not going to make a judgment on the numbers that you have shown. I am not willing to make the leap that any institution, government or otherwise, plans to fail. Because the assumption that you make when you say that an organization will go over their proposed budget, that the organization plans to fail.
I would like to point out that taxation is not confiscation. This nation was founded upon the right to be taxed with representation. You have had the opportunity to vote for every level of representative who has had an effect on your taxation. One of the biggest issues that arise on this particular board is that people are undermining the current administration for unresolvable problems or because they are angry at the current administration for being Democrats.
I agree that there are issues with the current tax regime; however, it's what we have. A progressive tax inherently has fairness built in. By only taxing the higher portions of an income earner's income at the higher rate, the tax rate ensures a flat tax across equal income brackets. So, while I agree that Bill Gates would pay a high rate, it would only be on the portion of his income above 250k. Also, remember, that it is Gates' company that creates jobs, not Gates directly. Taxation of corporations is separate from that of individuals, and often corporations benefit where individuals may not. If you want to see a change in the IRC, it should be that corporations are held to a higher tax and income standard.

You know if your views are so much different than ours then why come and do nothing but goad us you seem like a reasonable person. So i will ask you to be reasonable and go play in the moveon.org crowd!
Yes Microsoft does create jobs but guess what as of today there earnings are way off and lay-offs are in their near future. The tax we do complain about going up is that tax on the small business guy who employees more people in this country than anybody else and I tell you what when you raise his personal taxes it really makes it harder for him to employee others!!!!

We all know this will not hurt the Ultra Rich but I suppose that you have a problem with Mr. Gates making so much money. But think about this for a minute. His Taxes go way up and now all of the other wonderful things the philanthropist Mr. Gates does will have to be cut back on!!! So think before you speak and oh yeah never mind just go and play over at moveon.org!

      • JQ_Citizen says:

You're welcome ft985…I appreciate your civility as well.

You are entitled to your opinion as to the motivations of this administration as am I. The numbers came directly from your table, the publicly announced figures for this project and a little help from Excel. I assure you, the numbers are correct but I encourage anyone who wants to to verify them and correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, I would have to disagree with you. Taxation is precisely confiscation. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have any taxes. But, by definition, all taxation is confiscation. If you don't believe me, try not paying your federal income tax.

No one I know of is undermining the current administration simply by virtue of the political party affiliation. Instead, we are objecting to the specific policies being enacted and the philosophies being espoused.

There is nothing "inherently fair" about a progressive income tax. I will grant you that it is what we have but that doesn't make it fair. The purpose of a tax is not to ensure "fairness". The purpose of a tax is to raise revenues for Treasury. By confiscating a larger percentage, we are punishing those of us who have been successful and, in doing so, have typically contributed much more to the overall good of the country as a whole than the rest of us. That's not to say they're "better" but it certainly doesn't make them worse. I understand that it's the company that provides the jobs but it was the brainchild and work of Gates himself that made it possible. And if you really want to stimulate jobs and the economy, the last thing you would do is tax companies at an even higher rate. That's why they leave!!!!

  14. Gregory says:

Americacorps is not like ACORN, it is an extension of ACORN. My biggest concern is the fact whites are still the majority, so it stands to reason that the majority of those young people that will be forced into community service will be whites. It would also be fair to say that community service is usually done in downtrodden areas of towns or cities. Those are for the most part minority communities. So it is reasonable to deduce that whites will be serving minorities. It is payback on a national scale.
Remember it is the rich whites that are being targeted for class warfare. What better way to get back at rich or entitled whites than to have their children serving minorities. It is really a very brilliant move by Obama and his puppeteers
