Talk about re-writing history. The democrats had control of congress for the last two years of the previous administration. They also controlled congress and the white house during the worst economic times in our nations history. You are completely missing the point. It is government – all of them – who have moved this country away from a republic toward socialism and the resultant tyranny that will accompany it. This site is not about democrat vs. republican it is about principles and values that we espouse to. WE the people are to blame for allowing the government which includes the present administration to get away with stealing our freedom. The emotions and cognitive dissonance people are rightly feeling in present circumstances rules most of the posting that goes on. An intellectually honest look at history would reveal some fraction of the American public and government started moving away from the republic gifted to us by the founders before the ink was dry on the original document. There was vast heated debate during the formation of the country which rages today. A real serious look into history would see some of the same issues debated in Greece and Rome. There seems to always be a group of people who want to control others and they don't necessarily play by the same rules as those principles and values posted on this site would have them. Thus we the people who hold those values want government to leave us alone and stop stealing our freedom. Only if we stand against the tyranny now before they government) have complete power will we survive as a great nation.
Obama may want to rethink this… with the next administration, it could be his head on a platter for evil deeds in office. Horrible precedent being set.

Pick up what newspaper and read it? Which one do you suggest? It seems very ignorant of you to come in here and label 600,000 members uninformed haters. Why cant you just say, "I am here to help in whatever way I can". Then we can work on issues we have with the parties, by establishing what principles and values we have in common. Does it really matter who has been in charge? I have children, and when one of them makes a mess, and blames the other, the mess still has to be cleaned up, no matter who made it. Ben Franklin felt there would never be a shortage of virtuous people to hold public office. He believed the people would deem it an honor to hold those titles, and therefore do the right thing. I believe this is where we can agree, we need to elect virtuous people to hold office. I dont care if it is a democrat, repub, or other. I would love to see a return to honesty, and pride in our elected officials. People with virtue need to be elected regardless of party, our founders understood that 2 wings were needed for the eagle to fly.

In all truthfulness, America is in the pathetic state it is in right now because of us…WE the People! We have allowed by being so complacent and uncaring as to the ridiculous and childish behavior of our elected officials regardless of which party. What we need in government are representatives who have a healthy constituent minded sense of intelligence not this current mental illness of raising taxes will fix everything!
And we have played right into their hands also. Instead of paying close attention to their activities its much easier to watch highly rated TV shows or go to a movie! That’s exactly how they like it too. We have evolved into the forgotten sheeple who pays for all of their crap which seems just fine to us! When we realize the present status quo of America is our fault we will just jump on a computer to visit websites where we will then cry in our own spilt milk or maybe have a Tea Party. What we won’t do is try to actually rise up in a unified manner and exercise our 1st Amendment Rights and tell the Democans and Republicrats it’s time for them to get a new job!
i think you are right. complacency and apathy are at epidemic proportions right now. the only way 'we the people" are going to take back our country is for new non-political blood to run for office and for "we the people" to recognize that the new blood is required to move forward. we have to stop thinking that we can't do anything. we have to start doing whatever it takes.

True believers and fanatics have been undermining the foundations of the country for a century. Through control of the schools they have created a class based structure over our American one. Our schools produce little bureaucrats, not free men. For example anyone having a degree with the word environmental in it can only be a bureaucrat. You either work for the government telling producers what to do or defending the producer from what the bureaucrat is trying to force upon others. Neither role is productive. The jobs are bureaucratic overreach into private matters. This is going to be a long battle against a coming dark age of bureaucratic power.
I'm after Mr. Olbermann, too. I contacted the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys telling them I won't be watching any NFL football games on NBC any longer as long as Mr. Olbermann works on the pre-game show.
The Tea Parties are just the stepping stone. We all need to get involved with our local 912project groups to identify local and national candidates that live their life by these principles and values. Once this happens than we must begin working to remove all the incumbants in the House and the 1/3 of the Senate that are up for reelection in 2010. I advocate the same sentiment that Alan Keyes stated in his speech in Pittsburgh, PA (April 11th). 'VOTE THE BUMS OUT!"
Only than will we get the attention of our wonderful Apologier in Chief. And in 2010, vote the remaining bums out. Once he is voted out, than we need to go after him and try him for treason against the Constitution.

I never really liked Bush a whole lot anyway, BUT he did help keep me and my family safe and fairly prosperous during his time in office. And I thank him for that. And we're finally coming together, standing up, and saying enough is enough. You may think it's ok to kill unborn children but not use hard intaregation methods on known terrorist killers. ACORN did get millions from the stimulus package! They also have George Soros (big drug dealer) who gave millions to Frankin . Soros also puts alot of money into legalizing medicinal marijuana in many states. They have alot of help financially and some of it is our tax dollars!!

All you hear about the tea parties is that it was right wing extremists or put on by fox. When we all figure out what we want to do next. Glenn just suggested having a Green Tea Party!! I think it's a good idea because our utilities could go up from 50% to 100% according to Glenn's guest who is from "Junk Science" Gas and all things that are produced in factories also would go up. Plus alot of factories would leave the country because other countries don't have the cap and trade scam or environmental restrictions. Just another knife in the heart of America! I really believe they are trying to take America down financially and environmentally. WE CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN!!!!
So my 1st grader comes home today with homework for Earth Day. They are to pledge to do something for the earth today. Seems innocent enough, right? You have to give it to them… they use something that everyone should be ready to jump on board for. After all, who wouldn't want to take care of the environment we rely on for our very lives? I am a huge nature lover, but this makes me so mad. Of course, they don't reveal the motive behind the movement… control, power, and the green stuff ($$$).

I whole heartedly agree with spyder33 regarding my once favorite show " 24". I will never watch that show again. How ironic that one of the handful of conservative actors in Hollywood, John Voight, is cast as a bad guy and that vile creature Garofilo is cast as a good guy. I started worrying when they started airing the global warming spots, but this rant by this America hating ingrate has me convinced that the people behind the scenes of this production are closer to Move on.org than they are to the Heritage Foundation. I'd like to see just how strong we as conservatives can be to affect the ratings of this once loved show.
I take offense to her comments, and although I am not telling anyone else how to act, I choose not to participate in giving any credit to anything this woman, or anything else those on this show support. There are thousands of shows to watch, and better yet, I can make it family hour with my 7 year old.

Not sure if anyone else was a rabid DVRing "24" fanatic like I was, but recently Susan Garafulo(sp) was just on Kieth Olberman saying that the tea parties were all about blatant racism. As much as I love the show? I have un-DVR'd it and will no longer be a part of anything she is a part of.
I really enjoy 24 and have about five DVR'd to catch up on. Don't let some actor's personal insanity ruin your entertainment. Actors are there to entertain us; I don't give a rip every time someone makes comments in their "real life." As far as I'm concerned, Jeanine Garafalo is an actor – as long as she does her job and is entertaining me, she can hold whatever outrageous opinions she likes outside of her job. She is a character in a show; her personal opinions mean nothing to me.

We have all placed people in power that are hungry for money. Many states have become complacent in keeping their headless nails placed in Congress. It is time for all the rusty nails to break, and we, as Americans, must break the hold. Look at Barney Frank's history and he is in power, we allowed this to happen in our beautiful country. I always vote against anyone that has served more than twice because it is time to change the person in control of the oars, I want my boat to remain unemcumbered. But most Americans think, "Oh, well, he's been in power a long time for my state he or she must be doing something good so I'll vote for them again." We can stop this maddness, and we must get involved with our schools. Get involved with our neighbors running for office. Stay involved, I'm as guilty as everyone else about not helping.

I know I know. But we didn't get this way overnight, and we won't get turned around overnight either. This needs to start from the bottom up… teaching our children about our founders, their history, and our shared values. We sat by and let our country get this way for the past several decades. We allowed our children to be taught about STD's and Home Ec. instead of our constitution. We have a long, weary road to follow.

Those of you who are libertarians at least are sticking to your principles and you don't come late to the party. But I disagree with you simply because massive spending is a necessary evil right now.
Libertarians recognize that Bush and the Republican Congress spent money like drunken sailors and put the Liberal stereotype to shame. Libertarians are trying to make sure Obama doesn't follow in Bush's footsteps.
If the grand majority of economists agree that we have to spend our way out of this financial crisis, isn't it incongruous to take Obama to task for spending as he is?
And, I'm not sure what history you know about the Depression, but it was, in fact, massive spending that brought us out of it. Please, if you dispute this statement, try to find a historian that disagrees and cite them in your counter argument. Good luck!
Republicans pretty much controlled Congress for 14 years (until 2007), and the Presidency for the last eight years. But you say it's the Democrats who have ruined the country? Really? Somehow that math doesn't add up.
And I guess those of you who say the Democrats are bought and paid for by special interests (which I pretty much agree with, except for Obama whose massive campaign contributions were from average Joes) don't even know what the Republican "K" Street project was? Aren't Republican politicians bought and paid for also? And weren't the Republicans the recipients of the grand majority of lobbyists contributions for the last 15 years?

It IS BOTH parties that have doomed us to the state we are in now, its just the Dems seem to be steering the ship, and the repubs are along for the ride. Personally, I would like to ALL of them run out of town on a rail and we could start over. Perhaps if there weren't so many lawyers in Washington we'd be better off. Maybe if we had people reperesenting us that actually have had jobs, and worked for a living they would have a clue?

I have not seen much defense of GWB other than "he kept us safe for 8 years". The people let congress know under GWB that we should "control the border", "don't give amnesty", and "don't bail out Wall Street". We were mostly ignored then and we are completely ignored now.

I must lightly admonish you're re-writing of history. The Dems were not in control of Congress. This debacle is soley the responsibility of the Republican President and Congress. The Republicans had absolute power and it corrupted them.
The Democrats nearly have absolute power now (only "nearly" because many blue dog Dems will not fall in line with the Dem Congress). Let's see if they can manage to take that power and screw up the country like the Republicans did. All politicians are alike so we can count on it.
Having said all that, many Dems enabled Republicans along the way and certainly share some responsibility for this mess as well.

In New York there were Union Members, Democrats, Independents, Third Party People, Whites, Blacks, Asians and Latinos, People in business suits and work boots. They united (without rioting and breaking things and throwing trash around like when the left protests) united in our opposition to this every growing government juggernaut that is rolling over once free people and our constitutional rights. You responded to my remark about Barry Frank and told me to go read a newspaper. In 1991 Farnk received an offical reprimand for bringing discredit to the House. Mr. Frank used his office stationary to fix Gobi's 33 parking fines as well as using his letterhead to write a false reference letter to Mr. Gobi's probation officer. Mr. Frank became involved with Herb Moses a high level executive of Fannie Mae who bragged of developing "affordable housing and lending programs" In spite of warnings Mr. Frank , whose committee oversees Fannie Mae rebuked reforms. "These two entities (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) are not facing any kind of financial crisis…" He is only one of many politicians from both parties in question. Americans have awakened there is nothing like "WAKING A SLEEPING GIANT".

In a poll last year, more than 50% of the people didn't know which party controlled congress. People need to turn off the TV and pick up a newspaper and get educated.
That same 50+% didn't know that Republicans controlled Congress for the 15 years between 1992 and 1997. I'll bet more than 50% of the people on this site don;t know that either.
The couple extra dollars in my paycheck will be going to the 50% state income tax increase here in Illinois!!! Do these idiots in congress really believe that the couple extra dollars are going to allow us to spend more. I don't know what world they live in but you can't buy much from that huge tax cut. Especially when all other taxes are going up. The sales tax in cook county Illinois recently went up to 10.25%. It is highway robbery!!
I remember during last election, many things where brought forth about ACORN, but much to my dismay, nothing ever stuck to them. Even when there where taped instances of fraud, the media would not be daunted. FOX News will continue to devastate the competition, and hopefully they (msn, cbs, abc etc.), will either shut down, or change. Anyone want to place a bet that this Diane Feinstein corruption thing goes away in less than a week? Liberals can do what they want with complete amnesty. It makes my stomach turn.

Nothing ever stuck to ACORN simply because they were irrelevant. Despite the best efforts of FNC etals to turn them into the boogeyman.
DC and the WH look down on this the same way those in California did for Prop 13 back in 79. My parents were looking at losing our house to taxes, not inability to pay the mortgage or any of the other bills, taxes. Today we see the spending, even the 95% of us getting a tax cut, can see through the sheer arrogance and ego of DC and the WH. WE CAN SEE THE TSUNAMI.
We are a democratic republic and our job is to be the squeaky wheel in our representatives ear or thorn in their side if that gives you more pleasure.
Way back in the Jerry Brown era of the 70's the Dems in California wanted to spend as they saw fit, not how the general public saw fit, and nearly ran the state into the ground. I watched carefully and paid attention to their words and watched from afar as both parties give the state away. Got to give them credit they have worked really hard since then to accomplish their goal and they're almost there! I now live in Idaho partly because they have a balanced budget law and are willing to make hard decisions to stay within fiscal constraints, just like South Dakota where I lived previously. I decided against Washington state because they run a lot like California with Seattle being their version of San Francisco. I lived in Washington some time ago and was flabbergasted at how the tax dollars were spent. Funny how Wa and Ca are run by the social elitist who know better than you and they are both really screwed up.
I guess when your party and their ideas get trounced in an election, the only thing you can do is try and abolish the government.

I suppose if it were 1773 you would have considered the Boston Tea party irrelevant as well.

You have seen the youtube video showing Neil Cavuto of Fox asking his producer how many people were at the rally he was covering, haven't you. The producer tells him there's gotta be over 5,000 people. 9 minutes later Cavuto goes on the air and says that 5,000 people were expected for the rally, but instead there must be double that or triple that here today. The crowd went from 5,000 to 15,000 in 9 minutes. Hmmmm.
It's a shame that Cavuto would feel the need to lie that way. I wonder if someone higher up in Fox told him to inflate the numbers. Geez, who can you trust?
Become a LEADER! If we all sit around waiting for a leader to appear we have lost the battle. At the least buy some window paint and put a protest sign on your back window, with a URL for people to go to to learn more. Or buy a good bumper sticker. There are many ways our voices can be heard if we just think and act.

Let’s start over, on something that has been in discussion in this Tea Party forum. Maybe it got off to a bad start and there were some misunderstandings.
Folks if you have read the Declaration of Independence you will know then that Thomas Jefferson makes the suggestion that when it is obvious that our government is no longer working for the American people, it’s the people’s duty to abolish that government. Now our Founding Fathers were also worried about a government that has out lived its usefulness to the people and provided a peaceful tool in the 1st Amendment that gives the power and ability for folks like us to challenge the government. It’s called “Petition for Redress of Grievances”
People in this recent Tea Party forum have been saying there is more to do. Well this is it, a class action filing of Petition for Redress of Grievances. The members of Glenn Becks 912 Project can try and get Glenn Beck and the administrators of this website to post this petition so the members can sign it. Think of it as an actual documentation that can be sent to Washington D.C. so as the Whitehouse can know that we are surrounding them!
There are a half million plus members. That should be a half million signatures.
Also, if the people over at Fox like Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly are sincere about their concerns as to what is going wrong with America, then maybe then they can help promote the Glenn Beck 912 Project class action Petition for Redress of Grievances. And since he’s a constitutional lawyer it would be nice if Mark Levin and his Landmark Legal Foundation were to come on board as a legal consultant. But for the time being the most important thing is to not stop talking about this!

The Tea Party in my city was great! Contrary to what the media, and Hollywood elites have said, there was a diverse crowd here. For the most part this was a group of respectable, decent, working class people.
We have to be realistic here. Things aren't going to happen as fast for us as they are for the Obama administration. We shouldn't want them to. Just look how much of a mess they are creating with their haste. I'm as upset at how we are being protrayed as anyone else. We can't forget that it wasn't that long ago that we were calling people moonbats. We've got to have a thick skin otherwise their criticisms will defeat us.
We can make a difference. The Founders didn't have an easy go of it. I'm so proud of all the people who went out and stood up for the values and principals that this country was founded upon. We need to keep it up.
There are sub groups in my area that get out there once a week with signs. There have got to be more groups in this great country of ours who can do the same. Protest on the streets. Protest with our spending habits. Protest directly to our non representing representatives.
I went to a Q&A session with my congressman, Ron Kind that he held within his district here in Wisconsin. I wasn't too surprised to find it was more of a Question and Dumb Stare session. Many of the people who attended had the audacity to ask questions and expect answers. Instead, we received the standard, "Thank you for your input". One thing did take me a bit by surprise. I have never attended anything like this before, since I have never taken an active role in government. I thought it odd that everyone who attended was told they must fill out a form before being allowed to ask the congressman a question. The form asked for name, address, phone number, topic of question, and other information I can't recall. Can anyone tell me if this is standard procedure? Personally, I thought it was a little odd and intrusive to be honest.
I think we need to target Congress hard and never let them out of our sights. Write or call our reps weekly, write letters to the editors of local newspapers about their actions, tea party at the reps local offices (or homes if necessary), and participate in a primary and support the best candidate, not party. Yes, I know they won't listen but if we are all consistent and come at them from many angles, I think they will eventually take notice. Squeeky wheel gets the oil.
We should also either infiltrate and neutralize ACORN or form our own voter awareness group. We should work to change the election laws in our corresponding states so that we can have a clean and secure election process. We need to guard against groups like ACORN from stealing elections with loopholes and political correctness. Elections should be fair to both those who run and those who vote no matter which party they represent.
We do have the truth on our side. We don't have to resort to their level, ie insults, attacking the individual personally, etc. We are RIGHT! We speak the TRUTH! We must continue this struggle. We have to make our founding fathers proud.
My husband and I attended the San Antonio tea party and had a load of fun! We live in Fort Worth and upon returning read in the local paper that FW had 3,000 attendees and that doesn't count the #'s in Dallas, the Mid Cities, Denton and all the other areas close that participated! It bothered me at first hearing the remarks by various media people, then I realized it was because they know we are on to something here. They are afraid, rightfully so.
My son, 23, and about to graduate from college this weekend told me what he had heard and told me that it made sense to him that we were off base. Then I explained to him the purpose of the tea parties – it isn't just about taxes, it is so much more. When we finished talking he said that he wished someone would talk about that on local stations and radio – instead of calling us crazies…this encouraged me to work harder at spreading our message. I have never felt so strong about anything in my life as I do about these tea parties, marches and everything it will take for us to regain control of America.
It hurt my heart again to see our president this past weekend with Chavez like everything is just wonderful and being so apologetic about our great land. I am committed to see this through, not so much for me, but for my grandchildren not even conceived yet, great grandchildren, and all future generations. I want them to grow up free to live the American Dream….united one country Under God with liberty and justice for all.

I kinda remember the "traitor" name attached to anyone who didn't support George Bush. Tell me how is this circumstance different, and that you're not a traitor now.

The Tea Party thing is ok. It's a start. But there needs to be a direction, a plan. And most importantly a leader or leaders. Ones we can trust. I mean its easy to get together and say we're ticked off about the way things are going. But what's our plan to fix it. That's where leadership comes in, living leadership not dead presidents. Are one of our talk show hosts gonna man up and enter the political ring? We can all listen to them say how this guy or that guy is doing things wrong, but at least their doing something. Don't get me wrong, Beck has had the most balls this far. He's more active than the rest of them combined. But we need leaders, we need a plan to recruit more people. Who's gonna step up, who can we trust?
You are right on with your post. We need leaders. We need to organize and collect funds to hire lawyers that are versed in the law of this country and it's constitution and start filing law suits to remove the thugs we have running this country who hide behind the constituion and feel that they are beyond the reach of the law. Protests are fine but as you can see the thugs just thumbed their noses at us. Law suits carry consequences and they will be held accountable. These thugs need to pay for the damage they have done to this country. While they steal our tax dollars our fellow citizens loose jobs and go hungry. Please let's not let this movement die.
