  1. No you are right I don't know what i'm talking about when it comes to Va. firearms laws. But I appreciate the artful way you have with words.

For those who want further information on the Second Amendment. A good book, not the end all be all, but a great resource.

    Second Amendment Primer

  3. 357ben says:

"And if you want to feel the warm breath of freedom on your neck…if you want to touch the pulse of liberty that beat in our founding father, you may do so through the majesty of the Second Amendment.

Because there, in that wooden stock and blued steel, there lies what gives the most common of men the most uncommon of freedoms. When ordinary hands are free to own this extraordinary symbol, representing the full measure of human dignity and liberty, that is as good as you can have it.

It doesn't matter whether its purpose is to defend our shores or your front door… whether it is a rite of passage for a young man or a tool of survival for a young woman… whether it brings meat for the table or trophies for the shelf… without respect to age, or gender, or race, or class, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms connects us all-with all that is right.

And to those who say the Second Amendment doesn't mean what we say it means: Let's settle that right now. The purpose of every line of the Bill of Rights was to protect people from the state. Our founders refused to ratify a Constitution that didn't protect individual liberties. They were just a bunch of old dead white guys, but they invented this country, and they meant what they said. The Second Amendment isn't about the National Guard or the police or any government entity. It is about law-abiding, private U.S. citizens. Period."

    Charlton Heston

I'm with him. FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!!

  4. artwillman says:

I believe Obama when he says HE won't ban assault weapons. HE doesn't have to. He has the most anti-gun administration in history. Eric Holder and Hillary top the list, but it goes deep deep deep. Factor in his appointment of Harold Kho as legal advisor to the State Dept. and we can look for transnationalism to creep into our legal system and those "living, breathing" folks will have plenty of precedent to ban whatever is banned elsewhere in the world. This doesn't even include the potential for outrageous taxes on guns and ammo, having the military destroy brass to deplete the supply on the market and drive up prices, and a whole host of other options. Oh yeah, don't forget Rahm (don't waste a crisis) Emanuel. You just gotta know he's got some tricks up his sleeve.

  5. r3claim3r says:

I don't believe Obama means what he says about not banning assault rifles. I think he has an agenda in mind. First he wants to destroy the economy to the point that chaos erupts. Also it wouldn't surprise me that while he pretends to help Mexico with the drug war, he enacts policies or does other things to actually make things worse. With the chaos on two fronts, he uses it as an opportunity to blame it on assault rifles as some people living in fear may be more prone to agree with Obama. After all, Rahm Emmanuel said, "Never let a crisis go to waste."

I think he still wants to ban assault rifles. He's just waiting for the best time to do so.

  6. artwillman says:

It has all been said. To the grabbers, "Assault Weapon" means "mean looking". To the "moderates" it is "Is it used for hunting and sport". To the anti's, guns are the problem for all violence, just like we all know pens are to blame for misspelled words. The solution to all the problems in our country and Mexico is to bring back the (It'll sure make Hillary tingle) Clinton Ban. No sense saying what folly that is, I'd just be preaching to the choir. I'd like to propose a much better and more comprehensive solution. Since the cartels , contrary to Admin. claims, get the majority of their high-powered weaponry on the global Black Market and through dealings with regimes like Barry's new friend Hugo. And since the cartels are totally dependent on their flow of cash to conduct their operations, I propose the "Obama Ban on Cash". That's right, you heard it here first. Ban cash and quit printing money. All we're doing is printing more and more of the stuff the drug cartels need the most. If we ban cash, they won't be able to do business. Of course we aren't holding our collective breath, are we? Barry and the Congress who are spending like a bunch of freshmen with their first credit card need to print more cash to finance their junket into multi-generational debt. Wait until the inflation hits. The cartels can use all that cash to cook their enchiladas.

  7. Lap1 says:

Ok for now but he'll come back to address this once he's solved the econimic issues, global warming, the redistrubution of wealth and world peace so I'd say….probably in two to three weeks.

  8. KWilliams says:

lol, a bit of dry humor I know but I am known for my dry humor. Gets me in trouble quit a bit actually:) But in my opinion what is a world if we cannot laugh even if it is from some of my bad jokes from time to time.

  9. Ashrak says:

It isn't even really about the guns themselves.
This boils down to the attempted removal of the right to defend ourselves by any means from anything on any level.

Peace happens naturally when folks mind their own business.
Conflict happens when folks try to mind other people's business for them.

This means that fault for conflict rests with those who try to make other people's decisions for them.
It also means that resolution for the conflict rests in their hands.
All they have to do is MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS.

    • artwillman says:

No people or society has been subjugated without being first disarmed. What these people need to remember is that we have rights that existed long before there was government. Those rights come directly from God. The Constitution guarantees those rights and limits the power of government to infringe on those rights. The Constitution sets up government as the guarantor and guardian of our rights and borders. You don't need to look too closely at what is going on today to see our government has not only overstepped its bounds by miles, but has failed miserably in its most fundamental duties. Those that look upon the Constitution as a "living, breathing" document have allowed our rights, freedoms, and morals to be twisted beyond recognition by judges who look for Progressivism to adapt our laws to the changes of society. So off we go to Hell in a handbasket. This loose, secular, amoral society that has evolved will take an awful lot of turning around. Perhaps several generations. Maybe just in time for our grandchildren to put a dent in the national debt.

  10. onytrut says:

    it will eventually

  11. onytrut says:

exactly true, the founders knew darned well that there would probably come a time when we would have to defend the constitution with force , hence the 2nd amendment.

The more I listen to Beck the less I am convinced he is anything other then a government shill to try to delay our taking action until it is too late.

    • CapNball says:

      onytrut,

I was just a bit concerned about Glen's stance on the musket and it's place in yesterday's world, today's world, and tomorrow's world.

I watch Beck all the time, and I just don't see a \”shill\”. The man has devoted coverage that has drawn huge numbers into our fold, he has gone out of his way to deconstruct as much of the damage of marginalization that the mainstream media has been doing to us, and I consider him to be a valued resource for all who would be involved in a new movement. That, and Uncle Teddy likes him too.

Yeah, the guy can miss the nail and smash his thumb from time to time (and I believe that this was one of those times), but if we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that without his involvement, the Tea Party movement would have much less momentum than it does at the present. Even a master carpenter will smash a thumb now and again.

      • onytrut says:

he punted real hard on his "debunking" of the FEMA camps.. he debunked nothing – he didnt even get into the actual government documents that openly talk about this crap .( they were sent to him by several different sources I know )

he is constantly claiming that anyone who would stand and take up arms in support of the constitution is a enemy of the state and another McVey…

dont take my word for it , listen to his old shows

  12. i think that the assult rifle ban was a definate violation of the second amendment. let's hope he sticks to his word and does not renew that unconstitutional ban…but than again, he is a politition so who knows. I hope that if this ban comes back that the people will stand up for their rights, and tell the government, in the words of charlston heston: "FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!!" (and stick behind it). the purpose of the 2nd amendment, besides self-defense, is so people can either overthrow the government if neccesary (like our founders did), or stand up for their rights with deadly force when the government uses force to take our rights.

  13. onytrut says:

then you and all the other people who value liberty should be voting out those who would support such BS laws , and electing people into office who would dump such unconstitutional legislation

  14. markeng says:

I live in Oklahoma City, There has been a huge surge in the number of people applying for their concealed carry permits. People I would never have expected to, are now getting permits to carry a handgun. These people are arming themselves because they are concerned for their personal safety. With the economy deteriorating, everyone expects crime to surge and they don’t think for one second that the government authorities have the ability or even the desire to protect law abiding citizens. In short, the law abiding populace is taking the law into their own hands.

  15. jsekula says:

They can have my gun when they pry my dead cold fingers from it. What these idiots can't figure out is people will use whatever is at their disposal to kill somebody. Case in point, Tea Party in New Port Richey, FL… go to the link and read: http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/sptimes/access/168044...

  16. Minuteman30 says:

    Amen! Lock and Load!

  17. Did anyone see Huccabee on fox, He had charles grodin on and normally mike is sharp and hold his guests to the facts but he let grodin get one by.His statements of access to firearms are too easy and that 125000 americans are victems of gun violence since the start of the war in iraq(sure civilians in iraq were included in that #) as well as criminals shot by police or armed homeowners. Its all about the wording he stated 125000 americans have been victems of gun violence but didnt state where sure an american in lets say somalia very well could become a victem of gun violence but how would new gun laws here help them. Same with the american civilians in Iraq,or anywhere else in the world. If we dont call these operatives on there BS statistics the majority of Americans who dont know the real facts will be swayed.I will try (sometimes they catch me in there censoring process)to go on some main stream web posts and put our mesage out there with the true #'s.I have slipped one or two through on AOL, and msnbs.

    • Jerseygal says:

I did not see it (but will be sure to watch tnoight), so I am responding somewhat blindly. I completely support our 2nd Amendment. The questions to have been asked were – What is the source for you statistic of 125000? Was this # broken down by different catagories – gang violence, street muggings, all US cases? If those questions are not answered and backed up by facts, then we have been presented with a fruit salad when we asked for an apple.

      • its the same story with the 90% comments being used by the administration in reference to mexico's illegal guns.Today FOX NEWS had the breakdown running accross the bottom of the screen apprx.29000 guns confiscated in mexico,11000 sent to atf for identification,6000 were able to be identified by atf,4900 were traced to us civilian ownership which by my calculations is only 15% of the total guns confiscated not 90% it is all a number and word game.spread the facts…..
        god bless all

    • Jerseygal says:

And the biggest question of all – Exactly how would further gun restrictions reduce or eliminate the cases you cite?

  18. mcdriver says:

There is such legislation proposed right now but Dem. controlled congress have it is tabled and tied up in committee. I believe it is HR750. Check it out Library of Congress Thomas or Open Congress, then start calling your Reps., I did.

  19. mamaof2g says:

Gee, it nice to know Obama has even LIED to his own party. All the campaign promises he made to the Right was a lie and now to the Left he has LIED. At least our assault weapons are safe for NOW! You haven't lived until you have shot an AR-15 for those of you who never got to shoot a M-16.
Not only am I a proud gun owner (multiple), but now my neighbor is buying guns and having them delivered to my house in my name. What good are neighbors if you can't collect guns for them? ;-)
Before you all have a fit, he works out of state and he DOES have a Class III license. It's easier for me to sign for them if he puts them in my name.

  20. 357ben says:

Why the left demonizes gun owners I'll never understand. When the vast majority of gun owners and hunters, are the most giving, caring, generous, and decent people I know. They are usually the first in line to give to charities. They are the first in line to help their neighbors.

    • hjen9 says:

it's all about power, despite all the attributes you described, they think that it's the government's place to give to "charities" and help their neighbors, if they let "we the people" do it, they lose all of their control and then their power

    • mcdriver says:

To understand is to know the CONSTITUTION, which I say again holds all the answers. Gun rights were for the people to be able to protect themselves against intrusion on their God given rights whether it be by a felon or the gov't. There is not considerable difference these days as I see it.

    • Islandsox says:

It seems to me that since the Left demonizes gun owners, haven't any on the left ever been faced with violence in their homes or on the streets? If they have, then one would assume they would be for guns. If they have not experienced violence, then what kept them safe? Their mean-spirited, name-calling gift of gab? Guess if I were a criminal, I'd run the other way, too, when they "started" their rant for it's exhausting to listen to.

    • flash53 says:

Yes we are usually the first to give any game we kill to someone who needs the food. We are outside enjoying the great outdoors.

    • oh and dont forget pay the most taxes for enviormental issues through licensing and taxes on ammo and firearms I am still waiting for my thank you from PETA ,GREENPEACE,ECT. LOL

      • 357ben says:

Don't hold your breath waiting for them to thank you. PETA and Green Peace, would much rather have hunters brought up on murder charges! They are really a bunch of loons! It's really a shame, we the REAL conservationists are demonized, while they seen as some form of heroes to the left.

Have you ever wondered why the left always calls for more gun control, when most of them have armed body guards or worse they have concealed carry permits? Kind of hypocritical isn't it? Almost like they believe in different casts, oh wait they do!

  22. I have concealed weapons permit issued from the Great State of Florida.
    I was finger printed.
    Background checked.
    Trained (in the US Military)
The Course was required but because I am considered a threat already
the state of Florida said that further training is not required.
    I paid a fee 125 dollars, for a 5 year permit.
Sent my picture in and was issued my permit.

I pack my weapon most all the time. That about as much of a restriction
    that I can stand.

Now if I were a crook I would just steal a weapon and go to work stealing more things.

  23. RB60 says:

One thing you might consider with any form of firearms "testing" is the fact that records will be kept. Your name, address, and who knows what else will be required . Therefore, the feds will have a working record of who has a firearm, and ultimately where to find them if confiscation would become a reality. Most of us who own firearms do have a knowledge and respect for our firearms, we take the proper care of, and handle them safely. WE are the ones that the feds would be monitoring if "testing" would be implemented, not the gang members who use illegally obtained weapons, and would never submit to a "test" in the first place.

  24. 1weasel says:

I cannot believe what I am hearing, half of these mandatory suggestions are already done when you take your hunters safety course. Maybe the group here is right, only senior citizens should have to take and pass the gun test !

    • RB60 says:

Well, my father is 82 yrs. old and a WWII Navy vet. My money will go on him that he could out perform many with his firearms! Especially a handgun!

    • onytrut says:

they will find out how well trained I am with firearms ( if they dont go to the DoD and check before hand ) when they attempt to confiscate my firearms

      • 1weasel says:

I think you misunderstood what I meant, what I was saying was hunter training is adequate and the gentleman who said training should be mandatory is way off base. Wow ,now that's said if you really want to watch something disturbing go to youtube and watch "The Obama Deception". Richard and Sylvia if you see my comment, you are scary because you were right on the money !

  25. Jared says:

I for one will not let them come into my home and STEAL my guns or my right to self protection. I say nothing supercedes Americas constitution in America and we should have a law passed that says that!!!!!

    • onytrut says:

the US constitution is the highest law in the land , that is the fact and no one should accept ANY law or order or act that violates the constitution

      I know I will not

  26. Jared says:

I have an idea. If you dont want to put a ban on assualt weapons (which there shouldn't be) but you want to stop the flow of them (which is greatly exaggerated) into Mexico why not gain complete control over the border? That would probably help stop what flow there is of guns into Mexico. Oh, and it might even help stop the flow of Illegals from Mexico into America. The way I see it we would be killing two birds with one stone and doing exactly what Obama said he wanted to do in the article.

I guess this would be too much like chewing bubble gum and walking at the same time though.

  27. Buckskin1 says:

I was at a local festival today and purchased a tee shirt from a Native American Indian. the shirt simply states: SURE YOU CAN TRUST THE GOVERNMENT, ASK AN INDIAN. This shirt will be on my body at every Tea Party I attend. If everyone had only studied their history while in school then many more would understand the true meaning behind the saying. The shirt was a tribute to the American Indians and I will wear it proudly. God bless the American Indian and God bless America again.

  28. So BO does not intend to renew the assault weapons ban … that doesn't suprise me at all. The assault weapons ban (still in effect in my state of NY) affects only cosmetic features on weapons and does nothing to affect how the weapon actually functions.
So my M4 does not have a bayonet lug under the barrel, has a compensator in place of a suppressor, and has a fixed stock in place of a collapsible stock (looks identical). It still shoots the same as any other M4.

A renewal of the assault weapons ban would not suit the liberal agenda. I would instead anticipate some form of semi-auto rifle ban.

  29. KingdomNow says:

KWilliams, I do exception with your comment- I am an older driver and I leave my left blinker on for three miles just to remind me of… darn!

    Never mind. ;)

  30. bamaboy says:

Obama wants to unarm citizens to prevent a revolt when he puts his communist ways into effect it is coming. They call us rednecks because we want our freedom.I can tell you one thing my grandchildren does not wear their pants around their knees. This is the worse threat I can remember this country had better wake up.I will pray when I want at any place anytimethe government can shove it.I have guns and I will keep them they are mine to hunt with and defend my family.I bothers me to think Obama considers our vets and military men threats to this country.Damn Castro is and the rest of Obama's buddies. All I can say is my leader is Jesus Christ and I do trust him.

    • onytrut says:

I dont really care what they think or what they call me
we as a nation have for too long put up with immoral behavior , murder of unborn ( violates the right to life ) ,
and the unconstitutional socialist/ fascist left's drive to make us all into slaves of the state.

    • onytrut says:

the communist moderator has removed my previous replies

    • UAV1 says:

I say they keep calling names such as redneck and extremeists b/c the democrats when bush was in office weren't smart enough to put together a cause like we have done w/ the 912 project. They are scared now b/c they see that we are serious and now even backed by vets and military serving.Where I'm from we call these people HATERS!

  31. Randall106 says:

Another detail I'd like to see discussed regarding the "90%" of weapons used by the cartels come from the US meme. Nobody on a major news outlet, including Fox, at least that I have seen, has mentioned that a large part of US aid to mexico has been in the form of GUNS for their police and armed forces. Thousands of mexican police and military personnel have quit in recent years, many of them going into the employment of the cartels. I think it's safe to assume that many of them took their guns with them. Also it is well known that many of those currently employed by the mexican military and police are actually on the payroll of the cartels. Yet another source of weapons for the cartels. I could easily see large portions of US weapons shipments to the mexican military being delivered DIRECTLY TO the cartels in the first place. Now, it has widely been debunked that the 90% canard is false, even though the government refuses to admit it, and keeps trying to shout down anyone who puts forth evidence to the contrary. It's a more subtle type of shouting down, but it's the same effect. The true number, we've been told, is more like 17%. Now, I'm curious as to how much of that 17% are actually weapons the government shipped to the mexican government, which any idiot should have known at least some of them were going to go to the cartels. Notice that the qualifier for both the 90% argument and the 17% argument is simply that the weapons could be traced to the United States. They fail to provide any proof as to what the actual source is, they simply imply and want you to conclude that they are coming from American gun stores. I won't say that guns aren't being smuggled into mexico from the US, I'm sure they are. But before the government starts imposing limits on my individual freedom, and tearing down the foundations of what this country stands for, I want to see definitive, empirical proof. Show me the math and then prove to me beyond reasonable doubt that it is true, and I will believe you. Until they can do that, I will not support them on anything.

  32. AsIsNow says:

Maybe O should look at his new best friend Chavez. Fed by Iran, funneled through Venezuela to Mexico, there is no stopping this flow because it's too easy. It 's cheaper than American guns and the locals in the lower Mexican states are easily bought off. Heck I wouldn't doubt if the guns were just given to them, anything to harass the US. Oh that's right, O is friends with Iran, so they can't possibly be doing this..

  33. Randall106 says:

And another observation, or prediction rather. Calderon's war with the cartels is lost already. Nobody is even going to contemplate the types of measures that would be necessary to defeat the cartels, and as such, very soon, if it not already, a tipping point will be reached whereby the cartels have more real power than the government. And then, they CAN NOT be stopped. Within 5-10 years, one of those cartel leaders will be the new Mexican dictator.

  34. Randall106 says:

Here's a line of thought for you… Say that the current push to demonize firearms and gun owners succeeds, and in the course of the next couple of years, a renewed assault weapons ban is passed, and that HR 45 gets passed as well. At this point it is impossible to buy almost any gun legally in the united states, without having to jump through so many hoops that most people won't bother anymore. All of a sudden, the cartels, (which can and do trade directly with arms dealers and manufacturers all over the world, for virtually any type of small arms ever designed, at fire sale prices, and so never needed to buy our over priced kiddie model "assault weapons" in the first place), suddenly have a huge new market, and an existing infrastructure already in place by which to distribute and sell these weapons all over the US. If the government wants a machine gun or RPG in every home, the best way for them to do that is to enact stricter gun control measures. If they create a vacuum, the Cartels will be more than willing to fill it.

  35. IndyHoosier says:

Hopefully prices start to drop down back to normal. I wouldn't pay a grand for an AR15 or $500 for an SKS. It's getting ridiculous.

    • CapNball says:

If you want a rifle of much higher quality than an SKS which is capable of being fired just as rapidly (if fired in "accuracy" mode) look to the grand old lever action .30-30 Winchester.

Ammo is cheap and plentiful, and with some of the new components now available to reloaders, one can fire ballistically efficient pointed bullets (warning: Don't try this with anything other than polymer tipped bullets!), shades the 7.62 x 39mm in most all departments…

    • onytrut says:

prices will not go down for a long time to come, if ever
not with the current demand and the current anti constitution stance of the "government"

  36. yooperea says:

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." – Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (Japanese Navy, WWII)

  38. middle says:

It may interest you to know that most of the rank and file law enforcement officers in rural areas support the 2nd amendment. The police cheifs on the other hand, for the most part are political animals so publicly they will say what they have to say to keep their jobs. According to a Sheriif friend of mine, the inner city and big city Depts, most or a lot of their officers are actually ignorant as to 2nd amnedment rights. That can be blamed on a school system that has dummied down the american public for decades. I nticed whne my daughter was in the 5th grade that she hadn't been taught squat about the constitution and whne i was in grade school in the fifties, we knew all about it by the third grade.

  39. FrankUSMC says:

Your sugestion has no merrit when it comes to someone breaking into your house and taking your gun and using it to commit a crime. You can't stop that unless you stay home and keep people from breaking into your home. Banks have safes and they still get robbed. Should we convict banks if the money that was stollen is used for crime?

  42. detestObama says:

This is our Constitutional right to be able to own guns. Obama is not changing his mind, he is just waiting for the right time to confiscate them!!!

  43. We are all being fooled into arguing the wrong point,The purpose of gun laws is not to protect it is to control.Look at the true agenda of the vpc(violence policy center) and the brady campain,we are currently giving merit to a tactic thats main purpose is to begin the steps to erradicate personal gun ownership. If you dont belive me just look at other countries like Australia where little by little their gun rights were revolked (for public safety reasons) and now the populus is dissarmed and criminals are running rampant.GOD, not the bill of rights nor constitution gives me the right to bare arms and defend my life and property as our founding fathers knew.

  44. gregory,
this is how it works in our currently screwed up system we do the opposite of what we should be doing.
1.the gov. tells the banks to lower the lending standards for political gains(minority and low income housing)
2.12 years later the banks are in trouble for giving bad loans and are stuck with "toxic" assets
3.gov. bails out banks with our tax dollars.
how should it work gov. should stay out of the way and let the economy do what it does fluctuate.
durring the past 16 years the lending practices advised by the fed caused the out of control rise in housing prices .The gun control problem is the same the gov. has put regulations on ownership and lacked enforcement of the existing laws allowing the ballance to be out of whack the criminals have easier access to arms than the law abbiding. They have set up safe havens for criminals in the form of "no gun zones" if you notice most of these incidents happen in no gun zones.they create the problem then tell us they know how to fix it.GO FIGURE!!!!

just like the campain he takes both sides of the issues depending on who he is talking to and who is making more noise….

Admiral Yamamoto said this during WWII and it holds true to today and he wasn't talking about our military he was talking about the American citizen. If a Japanese Admiral gets it why doesn't Obama? I am still trying to figure out what he is trying to accomplish here. I feel like he is setting us up for something BIG! I don't think they will get an outright ban through because they know they will all lose their jobs but they will tax ammo to death so it would be almost unreachable for the average person.
I just finished the 5000 year leap and it was awesome! Now on to Liberty and Tyranny-then to the very large "The Real George Washington" Thanks for recommending them Glenn!

Our Country and our Constitution has it roots in a small country town where a group of citizens stole weapons and used them to over throw the government in power quite literally, kicking them out of power and out of the country! Check it out, this small group rolled the big gun; a cannon, loaded and ready to fire, right into the house of Governor Wentworth's home forcing him out! Look up Fort William and Mary.

Boston Tea Party was a good start, but throwing tea into the ocean did not protect our liberties like the cannon of NH did.

  58. UAV1 says:

Punish the criminals, NOT the law abiding citizens. An armed populous is a peaceful populous. Why? Because criminals are afraid of an armed populous.

Look we keep having this same argument over and over again. So I propose the following. Pick two states. They should be equal or similar in scope and size of population. In one state, set up the "liberal" set of rules and in the other, the conservative set of rules. That is to say, one state has EXTREMELY strict gun regulations and the other has little to NO gun regulation. Ban guns in one state, let people open carry in the other. Run the test for 3 years.

At the end of the 3 years, I bet dollars to donuts that the state with STRICT gun regulation will have far MORE deaths than the state without. Why? Because the populous can't defend themselves. If a state is too large, then pick two large towns each in states that have comparable gun legislation.

Of course, they won't take me up on this because they KNOW that they'll fail. Simple as that. And to all you on the left I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!!! If you are SO sure you're right, then accept my challenge! Prove me wrong!

As far as I can find, states with actve CCW programs, and the majority have them, have less crime then the states with the most stringent gun control measures. Go to the fbi website and look at their stats. When the left, ABC, or any anti gun gontrol advocate4s spout their figures, they are inflted and in most cases skewed and wrong. For instance, they always fail to mention that about 10,000 so called gun-deaths are actually suicides and i'm pretty sure that if a suicidial individual wnats to kill them sleves they will do it with whatever menas are available, yet the left anti-gun idiots add that to their stats without any clarification…that bogus ABC show qutoted 130,000 detahs by firearms in a year? Correct me if I heard it wrong…..if we are to belive any of it then there would be no children left on our streets. But once again, when ya hit people with untruths over and over they seem to believe it. What astounded me was that Obama used that wrong 90% figure in his Mexican speech….

He will find a way to push his hidden agenda in a way that makes him look like the "Good GUY". He WILL continue to push for stronger gun and ammunition laws, just give him time!

  62. NancyNurse says:

I find the antics of Chavez, Castro, and Ortega unbelievable. Grinning and grasping, he does another kind of bow to Chavez and accepts his 'friendship.' Does he think we will have more oil supply that way?
And then he tells Ortega that he's glad (after being forced to listen for 50 minutes to him rant and rave about our negative relations) that Obama is glad that he is not being held accountable for what happened when he was only three years old. So he was talking about the policies of JFK and LBJ? That kind of muddled thinking and action? I thought they were democrats! He isn't even loyal to his own leaders and previous heads of our state.
I got news buddy! Just as Harry Truman said—the buck stops here. He IS accountable for our accumulated history and previous actions. Disavowing our nation, our nation's past, our former policies leaves us without ANY really.
I guess since, at the time Barry was in Indonesia, he can safely say "It wasn't me!" He sure is signaling loud and clear just which form of government he follows and will push our country toward.
But it's ok. We are all watching, BARRY and are not asleep. We are not complacent and drowsy anymore. He is one inch away from treason and we will be ready for the political steps to take him and his band of clowns in the Democratic House and Senate OUT!!!!!
I watched Newt Gingerich on Greta's show last night and was amazed at how brilliant that man is. Every answer was crystal clear, sharp, sounded correct and resolute, and was explained fully. We have to get people like Newt back in office ASAP. This man is not just a talking head rattling and nodding. He is absolutely on track and not just making up slogans or talking off points to fit his audience. I was glad to hear his opinions of such matters as the Mexican reaction to our refusal to back NAFTA. We want our cake and eat it too. Since I live at the crossroads of America quite literally, I know what kind of damage that Mexicans driving trucks in America can do. We have seen plenty of evidence that there is too much problem to allow free access to our highways. But a deal is a deal. And Obama is not man enough to just nullify NAFTA. Instead, he nullifies half of it, just enough to make the deal non-binding and hurt even more of us with economic sanctions. Great! A no-win situation! Meanwhile, the economic chaos that is hurting us here will slam Mexico like a ton of bricks, forcing even more illegals on the path to coming to America, not to pledge our allegiance but to tear down our republic. Wonderful! Obama is so stupid and so subservient to his unions and his party hacks that he will destroy the fabric of our nation WITHIN his four year term. And people were upset with George W. Bush's policies and actions? By 2012, they will be begging for him AND his father back in DC to straighten out the mess! Stay tuned, kids. The true character of our new President is being revealed almost Jack Bauer style, minute by minute.

  63. This business about assult weapons is just anothe ruse to get the proverbial foot-in-the-door to begin gun control measures. The weapons the cartel are using are more than likely from their own military arsenal. There is a lot of corruption in the government military and law enforcement. Again…I am saying some, not all. At any rate, it has become yet another fear tactic to try to convince enough Americans to want gun control, just like the constant reference to the use "oozies" by "criminals" in the states. These politicians will stop at nothing to try to erode and dismantel our constitution. If one avenue does not seem to get the reaction they had hoped for, then they just pull another from up their sleeve. I do not believe Obama the Great is recognizing anything….it is just another statement thrown out to appease the political dissent, especially after the tea parties. I am confident that he has another ruse to pull from up the ole shirt sleeve at the calculated time and place.
I will be watching what his right hand is doing while his left is busy now…

That’s why you are a potential terrorist to them. They are very worried about people like you. Worrying about the secretive Islamic compound 10 miles outside your city that the neighbors hear frequent small arms fire from will not be looked at for political correctness.

  66. Starwings says:

The general understanding is hand guns and rifles. As the most advanced weaponry they had in the late 1700’s were cannons, grenades and small rockets (early RPGs). I am unaware of any writings by the founding fathers referring to anything but hand guns and rifles. As the idea was to arm the population with enough fire power to overcome a tyrannical government when necessary, there wasn’t anything written about anything larger. Even today, all you need is small arms. As we were shown recently in Iraq, you may have all the big toys in the world but it still takes boots on the ground.

  67. Haha! I agree. Though I think it a good thing that I can get an assault weapon I agree that the right/wrong yes/no situation is rather troubling. I don't know about watching closely people who attain assault weapons, I think that it should be rather easy looking for people who shouldn't have them. Who knows though. I will try to get one, I don't know if it will be a fully automatic though. As you probably know that even the military rarely uses fully auto (It's highly inaccurate) who knows what a fully automatic weapon in the wrong hands is capable of. Only time will tell. So far so good though.

Hopefully w/ this news stores will start carrying more assault rifles instead of every where you go being sold out.

    • There is no need for stores to stock up on "assault"type rifles. There is a three day waiting period before you can take the thing home ( unless you have a CWP) and any good gun shop can order anything you want , class 1 or 2, from the distributer. Right now most of the shops I go to are concentrating on hand gun and hunting long arms. That's what people are snapping up. The brisk sales are due to a combination of 2 things. 1) economics strain creating more crime ( which I believe is part of Erkle's plan) and 2) knowing gun owners know that guns are a great investment. They hold their value as good as a Benz. Especially the rare models. Try to find a S&W model 12 and you will see what I mean.

      • BTurgidson says:

I am not sure I agree with your assessment. At least where I live, you fill out the quick background check paperwork, wait 10 minutes for the ATF to say OK, and out the door you go. Store front or gun show. If you have your CHL, you don't even need to wait for the ATF to give the green light.

Semi automatic weapons with high capacity magazines pretty much fly off of the shelves if they are reasonably priced. ( which is relative as they are all about 60% more expensive than they were one year ago. ) Many are so over priced, they linger, but not for long. Ammo is the hottest ticket now. AR and AK ammo is almost impossible to find at a decent price. The reason there is none on the shelves is that the manufacturers can not keep up with demand, plain and simple. It is one of the very few growth businesses in the country these days.

Your observation about firearms being a good investment has a 50 /50 chance of becoming accurate. If the AWB, or the ridiculous ammo serial numbering laws go into effect, they will be worth their weight in gold. If conservative minded folks take back the US Congress, then prices will fall and you might loose a bit of value. My bet is on the former.

  71. UAV1 says:

Listen up people don't be fooled Obama doesn't need to ban assault rifles if he takes away your ammo for it or just flat out makes it too expensive to buy.Such a thing is already being considered such as traceable ammo and knowing how much you buy and extra tax per piece of ammo.I'm not joking google it.

I remember one time, long ago, Congress was saying, The constitution was out of date, and they needed to make a new one. It did not apply today. I believe there was a vote on it and failed badly. But since then I have noticed, that they have tried in everyway to get around it and they have here and there. If they would only read the constitution, and abide by it and quite looking for the loopholes, that are not really there. The constitutuion is quite unique and remakable. It was ment to live for all times they did a good job.

    Interesting.

Remember also when Clinton said "that depends on what the word 'is' is? You get all those lawyers trying to be sneakier than the next, and then hide just a simple sentence in a 2,000 page package, next thing you know, the word "illicit" will mean any firearm not possessed by a licensed entity of the govt etc…

      It stinks of total fascism.

  77. baham says:

Since I've been pummeled for my definition of assault rifles, I feel compelled to clarify some points. I believe that "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." If this dies the Constitution dies with it. The "legal" and Congressional definition of assault weapons will eventually describe a screwdriver as such. As it stands
any semi auto sidearm is an assault weapon. The assault concept was created by the military as part of overall combat doctrine. Politicians have of course twisted the meaning and use the term to make the weapon seem more dangerous in order to get voters to accept a stripping of rights. Impeach them all before they do worse.

    • Gregory says:

Just go to utube and type in "bumpfire". Any semi auto can be made to full auto. It's not going to be accurate, but you can dump a 30 rd magazine in a couple of seconds. Of course, it's a very expensive thrill both in heat and barrel degradation along with the cost of ammo.
So yes, you can even make a .22 an "assault weapon".

      • onytrut says:

        that is crap
bumping doesn't make the firearm full auto- that is BS in the extreme

and it is a wrong headed ,childish , inaccurate ,and dangerous way to play with a firearm and anyone doing this has no business near a firearm.

as to the definition congress uses , they just use names for things to terrorize the ignorant and gin up support for bans amongst those with no knowledge and / or faint hearts

    • NancyNurse says:

You are right. Anything used in an assault can be considered an assault weapon. And let's look at facts about who has these weapons and how they've been used in the past 50 years!
Oswald—high powered rifle with ties to the hard left and communists
Squeeky Fromme– a handgun and ties to the hard left and separatists
And the ever worrisome Timothy McVeigh who used fertilizer, not a gun, but was upset because BIG BROTHER failed to bring about the Waco situation by giving folks a fair trial under the law, but instead sparked a blaze that killed almost all of them because they owned firearms. No juris prudence. Where was the ACLU for those people? Nowhere man!
And now we have a bunch of Islamic nuts who ram four planes into our soil, killing around 3,000 civilians. And we are worried that their human rights aren't being upheld? Notice, no guns in that action at all, either. None.
And the countless robberies, murders, rapes and drive by shootings that have been committed along the way? Has anyone done a political autopsy of those victims and those shooters? In general, I would think these people don't follow any political persuasion and probably don't vote at all, but more than likely most would be found to be DEMS not GOP, I betcha. So Janet's little report is obviously so far off logic and truth, it is ridiculous!

    • middle says:

I actually agree with you. For a long time the phrase "assault" has been attached to a lot of guns…I see it as a BS term. Hell, if I decided to kill my wife with a fork, I guess you could call it an assault fork. It's a misleading fearmongering attempt to demonize an object instead of focusing on the persons who are using the object to assault another human being. Also, after checking the FBI stats, I fpound that "Assault" weapons, perse…have been used in less then 1% of all crimes using firearms.

  78. CJQ says:

I cannot believe it, a train is more important then our children. Spending more money outside the US but cut our own defense, vets are right wing extremist. He just called some police, fireman congressmen, business owner a common housewife, disabled and so many others that are vets as right wing extremist. We served our country because we believed in our county that started by the constitution. We love the US, We love our country. When do we just become people that love our country!!! We love our constitution.
Then to top it off, Why are we not planting more trees plants, grass, crops its mere science. What are they teaching our kids. No instead we are told to have a dessert landscapping. Like our taxes, things need to be simplified, why is the government making everything more difficult. It like math, those that can simplify math get it easly, those that make it hard, just can't understand it. .

    • NancyNurse says:

And maybe, just maybe our military has some right to be a bit disgruntled and not trust this president! Did Korean War vets trust ol' Harry Truman? No they got him out of office and voted Eisenhower in. Would Vietnam Combat Vets ever EVER trust the DEMS after being sold down the river by the Kennedy's and LBJ? Think again. I have voted for DEMS but my husband the Vietnam VET would not EVER, and I don't blame him. Would those who were thrown into Somalia and then jerked out like puppets trust Clinton?Would the special forces who called in an airstrike or a sniper shot on Bin Laden in the late 90's and he refused to issue the order trust another democrat after seeing those towers fall? No! The'd never EVER vote for these clowns. NO! And now, our OIF/OEF/GWOT vets who come home to the sour notes our country keeps sounding…..half hearted praise, stupid media and family members all painting them as defective and warped when the experts claim PTSD is 'normal' reaction to war? Oh sure, they are just basking in all the glory. I can't blame their confusion and their need to stay on track with leadership that they trust that works in tandem with the military instead of opposing it. They don't want to go to hell holes like Somalia or Afghanistan or even Pakistan. But they are willing and true to us, more so than our politicos will ever be. So there is little reason that those who are in the military 'cling' to guns and their training and their way of life—it is a part of them.
Obama's true intent in issuing that statement thru Janet from another planet and all the other wonder words he has released is to protect himself only both physically and politically. Where the vets go politically, so will go the nation. He KNOWS that.

Maybe we should try enforcing existing laws in controlling the flow of 'illegals" into the US.

    • NancyNurse says:

Yep. Obama missed a golden opportunity to get Mexico to reverse course on immigration. Having 1/3 of a nation leave to become part of another nation is never a good thing, and most of us know that the Mexican people want what we have, but don't really want our nation's identity or vision for the future. They have not and will never pledge allegience to our flag. So let's figure out the solution!
I say there are only two logical ways to fix our broken border……
      1. Make Mexico a territory of the USA with an aim to add Mexico in a few years to the USA in the form of several states. Why not? We are already holding it together with our money. At least we can control HER southern border and put our legal system in place. The downside to that course of action is that we take on their social and economic woes and are already weak on those fronts, for sure. The move would most likely doom the GOP and a new party that is inclusive of hispanics would have to be created.
      2. Put up a fence and patrol our borders with national guard troops instead of using them abroad. Have ICE on duty at all border crossings and ports. But patrol our borders! Both of them!!!!

I don't want my name popping up on some 'list'! And you KNOW Obama has lots of lists!
I had to laugh when he said he didn't know about the Tea Parties. Yeah! Sure, he didn't. He was much more involved in that Easter Egg hunt to notice us having a revolt in the streets and state capitals, even on Wall Street, for crying out loud! CEO BArry wouldn't notice that??Sure he wouldn't!
Nope. He has these sites monitored for sure! That is the only thing I will credit him with—that he is a political hack and knows how to grab power. He is constantly having the wind checked for signs of unpopularity. He cannot stand signs of boldness! We broke no laws and intimidated no one, yet he sends his lap dogs, the media to the parties to make them out as foolish or wrong-headed. Sure, he didn't know.
I bet my name on here is in bold and every stroke is monitored! Go right ahead! I am not afraid. I won't cower! And I will NEVER EVER bow to a tyrant!!!!!

    He thinks himself soooo clever…

In a stunningly clever move, president Barack Obama, speaking from Mexico,
announced support for an international firearms treaty that could have
far-reaching effects on U.S. gun ownership — without needing to pass
legislation and deal with normal congressional representation. … If
ratified by the Senate, the treaty, which is already written, would become
law and supercede even the U.S. Constitution, as specified in the
    Constitution itself (Art. VI).

    • Adwean says:

Yup. "David Copperfield" at work again. He distracts you with the promise of not banning assault weapons in one hand, while his other hand is behind his back making international treaties that, when combined with a Justice Department that considers international law as superior to the constitution, will allow him to take away the guns without having to ban them. So much easier than using that annoying democratic process.

How is it that a POTUS can override the Constitution of the U.S. by making foreign or internation treaties without the consent of the STATES and WE THE PEOPLE. If these treaties can simply be ratified by a vote of the Senate or Congress, how is this Constitutional without the vote of the STATES and its people? At the very least, this is totally scary.

Very interesting……. Enforce existing laws to control the flow of guns into Mexico?

Maybe we should try enforcing existing laws in controlling the flow of 'illegals" into the US.

    • Gregory says:

      There's more…

This opening requirement could presumably be fulfilled in almost any way, to
satisfy an anti-rights interpretation of the treaty: "Art. IV, 1. States
Parties that have not yet done so shall adopt the necessary legislative or
other measures to establish as criminal offenses under their domestic law
the illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms, ammunition,
explosives, and other related materials." "Trafficking" is not explicitly
limited by "illicit" and could mean almost anything.

I don't post links, but I felt this is a good time to get educated… http://www.oas.org/juridico/English/treaties/a-63.html

I would remind you, that this country had a trade agreement with Mexico that allowed them to drive their delivery trucks across our roads. In order to appease the Teamsters, Obama stopped the trucks. Now Mexico is increasing their tariffs on us. It is the start of a trade war. No one but Obama is to blame for this. It would appear he has all the power he needs to do whatever he wants.
