I hope that some day our country will be free of people who are to blind to see. And I bet you failed american history in high school. I bet you don't beleve in free speach? Ever heard of the first ammendment? And I bet you have a collage education, didn't do you much good did it?
I had on my sign "No Taxation Without Representation" because emailing or calling my Senators and Congressperson is useless. It's like talking to a brick wall. They need to vote for us, NOT for their party. That's one of the bigger reasons for keeping our Tea Party mentality going and our ire up to give us the strength to keep going against these guys. The Democratic party should not be more powerful than We The People and they need to learn that. Sorry but grrrr

The Tea Parties revealed the Left-Stream-Media for what they really are — in-the-tank for Obama and progressive fascism!
Now, they know they spiked the Tea Party movement, we know they spiked (and sneered), and they know we know that they chose not to report the facts. What else are they not reporting to us!
AMEN, I could not agree with you more. I was at one of those TEA PARTIES and was very proud of the people who put it on. Like you lets keep the ball rolling and long live the people who believe in the tea parties.
I agree, the trouble is most of those in Congress are going to say what they think most of their constituents want to hear, since the 2010 elections aren't far off (JMHO).
I'm going to start supporting other candidates on the local level and do what I can on the federal level. Who knows what the result will be if 912ers and other patriots across America make a huge effort politically — it may result in a huge change and upset in 2010. Strength in numbers, strength in our passion and effort to elect people who will represent us honestly, as in the 912 Values!

It may be giving them comfort. But you have to look at what our government is doing to protect us, little to nothing. Just look at our southern boarder. Hammas is getting into our country and our government does nothing. Nobody protested when bush was in because they wanted to give him a chance to do what is right excuse the punn. Ok election time comes around and we vote bush out obama promises change. we think change is good, but instead of change we can beleve in we got the largest power grab in USA history. And as far as the founding fathers go they knew that if the government became to powerful it would become corupt. So they put in the second amendment and the first amendment If the first amendment don't work refer to the second as a last resort. Hope it don't come to that! WE the people not we the minority. Yesterday I watched Glenn Beck's broadcast from the Alamo. After listening to what he said, I firmly believe that Glenn Beck would make a great President. He loves our Country and would bring us back from the abyss.

I totally agree that Jan cheapened America. I was at one of these TEA PARTIES and would go to another one today if IO could find one because this is how I feel we are beind screwed by our government. LOND LIVE THE TEA PARTIES>
God save us from the intellectuals, the progressives, and the mindless lemmings that are willing to follow them right over a clift. At least they're consistant; they don't believe in trickle down prosperity, but they don't comprehend trickle down taxes either. Why is it that some people actually believe that businesses, large and small, will absorb the additional expenses that come from higher taxes and energy costs and not pass it on to the rest of us? Are they counting on another "tax credit" to defray the additional cost to individuals making less than $250,000.00 a year? It's only a tax credit if you're paying taxes in the first place, otherwise it's just another government handout. What happens when the government runs out of other people's money to give away? I guess we'll see how popular these politicians are then.
I am also on the coast but had to work and could not attend our TEA party. However, my wife attended for me. I hope we and Jackson will schedule TEA parties for July 4th, as well as the rest of the country!
Did they impeach Clinton's free speech. No. Did he even break a law? No he lied, that is perjury right? Yet he retained office, I see precedence was set here. So I agree kicking her out is not taking her free speech but she is a public servant hence the public can dispose her position whenever the public pleases. She does not have to be charged or jailed or any such thing. Hey what about accountability, oh yeh they meant for right wing extremists I bet. Well absolutely there are consequences for what you say. If I cuss or say something that the moderators on this site think are inappropriate they have the right to kick me off. But the government who I guarentee is reading this site does not. Thats what freedom of speech is. I'm serious though what that woman said is absolutely sickening. We need to start holding these peoples feet to the fire, I would drive across country to protest on her lawn if I could.
You know what. The tea parties didn't cheapen history, but congress, the president, and many of our judges do on a daily basis!! They cheapen the constitution, they treat it like it's toilet paper. They act like WE THE PEOPLE should just shut up and take whatever they dish out. Since when did we lose our rights? It seems they would eagerly take all of our freedoms. They have no problem telling us, not to exercise our right to free speech. They have no problem telling us, that we can't exercise our second amendment rights. They have no problem in running throwing eminent domain out the window. What's next? How much more will we take? When will the rest of our country say, NO MORE? At some point they will say enough is enough! If I were one of those fools in our government, I would put down the Communist Manifesto, and take two steps back!

I don't care if my taxes this year go up, down or stay the same. I DO care that government spending is putting us so far into the hole that we will never be able to repay it all. Our children will struggle just to pay the interest on such massive debt!
I saw no one who disrespected Mr. Obama. I heard no one calling him any of the vile and vulgar names bandied about by the far Left when Mr. Bush was in office. No one during the Bush years made such a disgraceful pretense of coverage of protests as have the MSM of our Tea Parties. Such vulgarity should have been beneath the various pundits, but sadly it was not.
It is not only my RIGHT to protest when I believe my government is wrong, it is my OBLIGATION to do so! Our Constitution requires it! Congress may ignore their obligations, the White House may ignore their obligations, but by God I will not ignore mine!
Of course it seems cheap to her. Many Leftist protests are that way and that may be her viewpoint. Plus the Right really maintain a sort of John Wayne attitude to tough it out. [hang on now, there is only 1 Duke] We do not like to really have our boots hit the ground because that's what every Left group does given any occasion. So that has been their gig for quite some time. And calling what real Americans have done cheap is in itself cheap, insulting & makes the accuser seem like an elite ruler of sorts.
I am truly sorry for those who think that we will be just OK in our new welfare state. There are many,many more Real Americans who will not hesitate to do what was done in 1776. I pray that it doesn't need to be but I will not never Be-Tread on. Ever. Plus understand that I do not mean this as a threat or statement meant to cause civil unrest or strife.

Cheapen history!!! A statement like that could only come from a Politician that has just gotten done spending Billions on his/her/it's own Porky Projects. History is always written by the victors and the war is not yet over. Just as the British called our Founding Fathers terrorists we now have history repeating itself. They will find that the center will not hold as the ends disintegrate. How awful it must feel to them to finally realize that they are not what America wanted or needed and to see they're world about to come apart at they're feet!
I have done much reading in the last month. "The 5000 year leap", "Liberty and Tyranny", and "1776" are 3 books I have read. This congresswoman is the equivilant to the few colonials that held up "were trapped and choose subservancy to the King" in Boston when the American Revelution started. In these three books the philosophies of our founders is described and shown, mostly from quotes and an accurate history of their actions. Not once in any quotes by our nations founders were the people who dared to stand and speak their voice denegrated like this in America. It was a different story in Englands Parliment. It almost leaves me speachless to see an elected official have so little understanding of what makes this country great. Why is it so offensive to these people that Americans have freedom of opinion. It seems like this congresswoman believes more in freedom of agreement and that peacefull protests by nonpartisan citizens is a threat to her livlihood. She chooses lies to hide the truth and fails to recognize that just as lies cant be hidden forever nor can the truth.

I heard Savage talking about it the other night. I hope he succeeds. I fear there are too many apologizers out their for this blatant left wing driven attempt to demonize Patriots that have no violent intentions toward anyone. Did you read the comments? One guy said basically where were you when everybody was demonizing Muslims as though that makes it O.K. to demonize Veterans. What the hell are they feeding these people?

In response to Centerleft's comment about it not being fair, via Fox, that we protest during time of war. I never heard that , but I did hear Hillary Clinton say when she was campaigning for President that the one right all people have is to protest against their government if they feel they are not going in the right direction. I'm most certain that she no longer feels that way now. Besides, what difference does it make whether any news outlet makes a statement like that even though I didn't hear it?
If we don't like our government, we should stand up and say so like with the recent Tea Parties. The left can make fun of us all they want, but when their people get booted out, they'll wonder what the H* happened. And we tried to tell them.

Americanpatriot: I don't think I can think of one, how sad for "We The People". I do believe there are some new faces that would like that to change that, but since they are " Freshmen" there voices don't resonate very far with the "Old Establishment"! , the ones who think they know better than their constituents, what "We The People" want.
However, if "We The People" stand united as One, we will prevail. It won't be easy, everyone will have to go to the polls and cast a vote, it doesn't matter who they vote for or against, that is another right the Constitution of The United States of America gives us! if "We the People" don't go to the polls and vote, then they can't complain, now can they?
The sad part of it all is, once a modern politician "not a servant to their electorate" is elected to power, no matter what party, it really goes to their head. The TEA PARTIES are doing the cause at hand, and will matter down the road. Just be patient and await the course of action. All is good, as long as we still have a Republic!!
I was doing some reading last night and I came across something that made me sit up and pay attention. I suggest all of you take a look and read up on what the cult of personality is. Obama is a classic example. It's how some of the worst dictators in history came to power. Everything is there. From the medias adoration to the demonization of everyday citizens for their political and ideological beliefs….If you don't know what the cult of personality is, I suggest you get real familliar with it real quick. Obama is pushing his agenda at record pace….

These Tea Parties must be only a beginning. It's not enough for us to attend and then go home feeling satisfied that we've done our duty. It's that kind of complacency and apathy that got us into this mess in the first place. Don't forget WE are the government, We must insist on accountability not just talk about it. The Founding Fathers deliberately left the power with the people and our laziness has led us down a path of let someone else worry about it for too long now.
Let ALL your elected officials know who they represent… YOU Contact them… encourage them to attend NOT Speak at your next tea party. Tell your neighbor, your co-worker what is happening to their country and bring them to the next tea party so that they may be reminded what our country once did and can again represent.

Of course all of you despicable right wingers are not included. I suggest that we all pay particular attention to upcoming legislation, some of these intended laws are beyond the pale and must be stopped now.
The Tax Day Tea Parties reaffirmed history not cheapen it. History set the stage for what was begun on April 15, 2009. It was a testimony of our Constitution, the first amendment and the Founding Fathers who did an amazing job creating a foundation to establish the greastest country of all time. The several hundred thousand who attended are part of a TRUE grass roots movement instead of something manufactured by corrupt organizations like ACORN. I might add that our own tax dollars are funneled by Washington into ACORN and then used against the tax paying citizens by cancelling our votes with fraudulent ones.

I have started righting to my local newspaper to voice my opinion and raise awareness of things like this. Most newspapers have a avenue for doing this. We all need to make sure that un-American acts like this dont go unnoticed. Since the mainstream media wont do this it is up to every one of us to take advantage of every opportunity to get the word out. We cant let people like this get away with such denegration. Everyone should has the right to hear both sides of the story. "The mainstream medias false side and the truth". Just like our founders took the responsibility to make their voice heard we need to do the same. Tea Parties are a great way to do this but we need to be there everyday and in everyway reminding people that their freedom and well being is being jeopardized.
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky has it exactly ass backwards. Persons like herself are cheapening are the Boston tea party, the constitution and the envy of the world; the American way of life. The democrats have used "our " tax money to buy votes for the last 30 years. The only thing worse than taxation without representation is representation without taxation which we have today. Half, 50%, yes every other person in the country in getting government support in one form or another without paying taxes to support the cost. We are almost at the tipping point. Folks when over half the people in the country can vote themselves unearned tax money with no fear of having to earn the money it is time for ATLAS to shrug. Let those spending our money so freely figure out how to earn the money. If natural selection works we are artificially altering the gene pool by these policies.
I got two words for you. Fair tax. you only pay taxes on what you buy. That includes that 50% that get government support. and you can't cheat with fair tax.

It never ceases to amaze me, wether one is listening to the liberal media, or reading blogs/comments on main-stream media posts to the web, how hateful and angry the extreme left always sounds. Their arguments are not rational arguments, they are feelings and repeats of someone else's comments, as if caught in the proverbial "loop." Gay marriage and abortion debates turn into the most hateful name calling by mostly the extreme left, and sometimes the extreme right as well. But those of us with common sense and a grounding in whatever religion we were brought up in, simply shake our heads in disbelief and continue about our daily business with the nagging feeling, a vibration deep in our bones that something, somewhere is desperately wrong. I agree with you, islandsox, (hope this is a bosox nominer) on one point – that it is time to stand up, make our voices heard and be counted. I am a fighter by nature, and have always rooted for the underdog, the silent "majority" has now become the underdog. We are what the opposition fears. They fear us because of our morality, for they have little to none. They fear us for our ability to survive in the face of opposition for they cannot. They fear us because they cannot change us. They fear us and that is why they feel the need to denigrate us at every opportunity. In short, they fear us, because even though we are not the tallest man on the court, we know how to defend our position. One need not be tall to play basketball, one simply needs to know how to defend against "taller" opposition. The one thing about being the shortest man/woman in the game, is that everyone else will underestimate you. We can use their underestimation, their bias, their hatred against them. We can stand strong, proud and assured in our beliefs and take our country back without one shot fired.

I did hear what he said. This is so typical and hypocritical. When the center and the right don't abide by the liberal viewpoints, we get trashed. I think we all need to blast them; that's where the imbalance is. People in the center and right are more gracious and that's why we don't defend our position. But lately, I've decided to call a spade a spade; graciousness isn't working with these mean-spirited so-called liberal people. They won't be happy until there is not one single conservative left standing. They think they have the power, they don't; we just aren't as antagonistic as they are. They have denigrated us long enough according to my book. Let's vote them out in 2010.
Please forgive me for my mind must be failing…. the original tea party was about taxation without representation wasn't it? The April 15 tea parties were about government spending and in part the future tax hikes that will be required to pay for all the spending…. spending that 99% of congress voted on without reading?
Maybe I am dense but passing a $700b plus spending bill that has not been read, that is being paid for with borrowed money and must be paid back with tax money is the same thing. If our representation cannot even do the basics of their job and read a bill before voting for it- congress might as well be on the other side of the Atlantic dictating to the little people. The results are the same.
If my representatives voted without reading the bill (and I already know mine didn't- they don't even read the bills their staff/handlers give them to introduce) then I'm not being represented.

According to the biased media, nothing important happened in the past week- At least George III had an excuse, although he knew things were brewing across the Atlantic and it wasn't tea. He had already been petitioned for redress and the Declaration of Independence states the grievances and the only rational remedy- Independence.

I think that Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) blasted. Needs to be impeached or recalled. Does anybody know how to go about this. It is time to send a message to these people and this is a perfect opportunity. Any politician that calls a peaceful protest shameful and despicable needs to go. I'm totally serious we need to get the word out to make this happen.

Just because you have free speach there are still consequences for your words. I'm not saying she should be in jail cause that would violate her free speach. But her inability to act profesionally and essentially spit on everything that our veterans have died for. If your a private citizen and you do that its not something that I approve of but I'm not going to get pushed out of shape. But if your a public servant I'm going to get mad.

well we're all waiting?????? If your asleep we've established that we arn't going to take her free speach away. See some of us here actually sacrificed for her to have free speach. But as a public servant I believe she is held to a higher standard. I dont think its to much to ask seeing as how we'll be paying her pension the rest of her life. And don't try to drag bush and the GOP into this I'm not a republican. Just read the comments and give an opinion.

I am glad to hear what she has to say. And yes she has free speech, and she is using it to show that she can not address the issues raised by those of us who are honestly asking our government to engage us in this process that has huge consequences for all of us Americans.
We are questioning our governments actions. We pay taxes that supply jobs for all these elected officials. This has in past times been referred to as"government by the people and for the people." For her to ignore us, no not just ignore, but to criticize us for questioning policies and actions that directly affect our lives, and us voicing our concerns, is great!
It is great, because it clarifies for all of us to see what she feels, and she demonstrates that she feels that we are all beneath her. It helps to solidify the veracity of our arguments, over a response like hers, attempting to shut us up.That also applies to all of those other public servants who are like minded as her. How can you or anyone be in agreement with someone like her, who fails to take her responsibilities as a public servant with any accountability to those of us who have hired her. Sure she is not accountable to agree with everyone, but to say the things that she has, is an abrogation of her responsibility.

I say that because people are obligated by the positions that they take on. If you paid money to take a tour of the White House, and the tour guide didn't like your politics, and proceeded to be exceedingly disrespectful to you so that you could not enjoy what you had paid for, it would not be different if the treatment had been racially motivated. She should be fired, or retrained to keep that position, because it diminishes those that she represents. If you like Obama, you should be appalled by behavior that is poor on his part. You should want him to prove that he is both competent, and has the right ideas through demonstrating the most exceptional of attributes, not the least.

The protest then were ALL about calling Bush the anti-Christ, our troops murderers and duffs, and our country evil. All while placing 100% of the blame on Bush, and in doing so alleviating any responsibility congress had in every policy, including voting for war powers. All of witch demonstrates a narrow understanding of any of the issues you were protesting to begin with.
No one was calling the god given right to protest unpatriotic. We were just calling the subject mater unpatriotic, and the misinformed, hateful nature of the protesters a little silly. As such you were not credible. And the way congress was let off the hook in those acts of protest was downright shameful.
Had an intelligent agenda been put froward, questioning not only the choices of the administration, but how your congressmen on the left had the nerve to vote for war powers, then stand back and disavow any responsibility by saying they had no idea it would be used, then you might have found a lot more creditability and support as apposed to ridicule for your hate fest party's. There has to be more Tea Parties. My tea bags (not intended as the liberals meant it) are still hanging from my tree. This cannot stop. The tea parties were peaceful, except for those who intentionally disrupted them, and they have a lot of meaning. Especially what we feel for our country.

where to begin lets answer a question with a question.Last I checked we had major network news outlets using sexual vulgarity to describe the tea parties jenean garafilo calling participants racists and reporters asking questions of tea party goers and then not even letting them answer.Tea parties are organized by individuals and have no party affiliation (we dont like dems or reps)where as the anti war movement was fueled dy the democratic party with the purpose of gaining control over the gov. I would recommend emailing the CEO of CNN. Roesgen will probably just delete emails from people complaining about her reporting "skills." I was appalled at Roesgen's angry demeanor when covering the Tea Party, and outraged at her treatment of the man with the 2 y.o. in his arms.
CNN should take a step back and take an objective look at what Roesgen did when she covered the Chicago Tea Party. Roesgen behaved unprofessionally (IMO) and it was insulting not only to those who were there at the Chicago Tea Party; it was an insult lobbed at all the Americans who want their government to stop wasting their money.
I think Americans deserve an apology from Roesgen, but I'm not holding my breath.

The tea parties were not about republicans,democrats or any other political party, although the biased media would have you believe that we were a bunch of angry republicans that lost the election. The tea party's are about Americans that are sick and tired of power hungry politicians who are out for themselves and their political agendas. We the people are terrified to see the direction our country is going. The tea party's were to say "Silent majority silent no more"! We came from all political party's, (including democrats) to remind the president and the senate that they work for us.
As for the "right wing media " that you accused of being like the Dixie Chicks, there is no comparison. The Dixie Chicks went to another country and bashed America. As the DC knows now, that included many of their fans.

People seam to forget that President Obamas statement always included two little words: "This Year" He never promised not the raise the taxes after his first year in office. Also The Carbon taxes imposed on major industry will definatly trickle to the Consumer. All Additional Taxes imposed on businesses and services will be passed on to the consumer. According to the White House Spokesperson, Obama was unaware of the tea parties. Yes, I guess we were insignificant to him. The true issue of the tea parties are taxation without representation and big spending. I see no difference from the lack of representation of the original tea party, to the lack of representation of today being taxed. Today we vote them in, they pay more attention to who will fatten their coffers for re-election and we are represented a few weeks right before re-election. It makes no difference if they are republican or democrat taxes in one shape or another will get increased where it is from city, county, state or federal. We the people better wake up and fire all of them from the city to federal and really let them know we hired them and we can fire them. Take Murtha ,he so far has received campaign contributions from people in his state for this year get a little over $4000.00 and from outside pac's $600,000.00. This is not a free election by people within your state, it is bought and paid for by special interest. We need term limits! We need to eliminate PAC's! We need to STOP these one term pension packages of Congress! We need to clean houses and start all over in 2010! We need to regain "WE THE PEOPLE"!
Even though we do have taxation with representation there is a lackadaisical approach in having it structured properly and in line with the current environment. There needs to be an overall tax reformation in this country. We also need to replace those that disregard the people that elected them into office.
Simple solution now……we work hard to vote them out Nov 2, 2010. I can bet you that this time around, there is going to be tremendous scrutiny of the candidates, moreso than in recent elections.

I think we need to focus on the 2010 elections, and make sure patriots are elected to office, instead of the spendthrifts currently in the House and Senate. We also need to keep the Tea Party movement strong, IMO. To be sure, there are a minority of leaders on Capitol Hill who have voted and acted responsibly re: taxpayers money. It is frightening how much taxpayer money Obama is spending, when he claimed he was going to act with fiscal responsibility during his campaign.

I don’t understand why people in this country don’t like America. We are the best of the best. Being an America isn’t being arrogant, it’s being the best that you can be. It’s like a knife to the chest every time I hear someone demean America. What have we done to deserve this? Have we ever conquered a nation and forced our freedoms on anyone?
We have sent our young to die for the freedom that we all enjoy. If you disagree you have the right to say so. All we ask is to be free. Yet people in our own country oppose this. Why? America isn't really America anymore. Seeing what's happening now reminds me of something I heard about the fall of the Roman Empire. It lasted so long and outsiders tried to topple it time and again only to fail. It was only when they made a fatal decision to allow people from outside to enter freely that they were weakened from within, and then could no longer defend themselves from outside forces. A lot of the people they allowed in out of sympathy did not share their values and actually hated the Roman Empire.
This seems similar in a lot of ways to what is happening here now. We've always had a sort of nation within the nation in our black population. After hundreds of years of horrible mistreatment and prejudice I guess there was no way that many black people were going to look at America and see it the same way we do, or want the same kind of America that we do. Immigrants who have come to America for so many years and helped make it what it was understood what America was about, and loved it far more than the vast majority of the black population who were here all along. They came here for opportunity and to build a life, and become a part of America. The majority of the black population was, and to a large extent still is, more interested in their rights and correcting past injustices. The America that has existed for so long before now was nothing special to them and even disliked or despised. The reverend in Obama's church is far from an aberration.
Now we have undergone a massive change in immigration. A LOT of the people coming here now no longer care about America other than what they can get out of it, and often despise it. They never had any intention of integrating and becoming Americans. They came here disliking us and demanding that we change to accommodate their culture. Their numbers have grown considerably and will continue to do so. The timeline for whites to become a minority was recently moved up from the year 2050 to 2034, and I'm sure that timeline will be moved up too. The country will be dominated by an overwhelming majority of people who dislike everything America ever was and stood for. We have been, and will continue to be, a nation that was taken down from within.
Now if you add to this situation the white "progressive" population, which has grown considerably through indoctrination by the media and academia, and pandering by "progressive" politicians, you now have our current situation. The progressives have locked in the special interest groups by encouraging hate and division, and it's almost starting to seem like the early days of Hitler's reign. We are going to become more and more ridiculed and persecuted by the day until no one will dare to be anything but a progressive even if it's only out of fear.
When you say that it's like a knife to the chest every time you hear someone demean America, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I feel it every day. I feel helpless and will not completely give up hope, but I have a feeling that soon my family will just move to a small town somewhere where there is still something left of America and live out my remaining days there with real Americans, knowing that our time will soon be passed.
in response to the congress women of illinois i say. those of us who has served in the military and have participated in the tea party protest (and there will be many more)that it was a privalege to participate. We took an oath to serve our country and defend it against enemies foreign and domestic. that oath was not taken lightly nor only for the time i was on active duty, it was for life. I smoke, and yet I've been married 20 years, and my children have scholarships to college before their senior year of high school.
When social security is gone, or before, I will care for both our parents. As we already have; like I did at the age of 15.
I spent 7 years serving in the Navy, often working 20 hr days, and sometimes 3 days straight. And now our oldest is off to the Navy for his service, his obligation to our Nation.
We've never drawn unemployment or food stamps, and raised 5 children.

I noticed that at our Tax Day Tea Party That I organized here in Elko NV I worked night and day for 3 week with out ever knowing for sure if anyone other than me would be there. I spent the money I had been saving for a new computer. We ended up with a Big snow storm that day and 19 degrees. we still had over 200 people show up And who should show up but the guy who runs the local office of the Republican office and I tell you he
just did not really understand what was going on. that no this was not a protest against not my omoma

Yeah it's funny just how despicable all these American citizens were on April 15th! I didn't hear of them looting…I didn't hear of them running into churches and disrupting services..I didn't hear of police having to use tear gas to break up the revolting angry mobs.
Just what was the despicable act this loon speaks of? The right to assemble and voice viewpoints? The audacity of challenging overspending and overall power schemes that plague both sides of the aisle?

The reason I stay is because I actually want to know what this is all about. Just as you would want an honest debate, so would I. I teach History at the high school level and for several weeks I have been teaching my students the paralells between the stimulus bill and with the Acts of Parliament that were passed against the colonists.The most compelling act would be the Tea Act of 1773 which was designed to prevent the bankruptcy of the British East India Tea company. The students are amazed at the paralells. Its a shame our law makers haven't picked up a good history book in some time.

BUT, this requires commitment on our part. Not the kind that gets us up early on a Wednesday morning to drive to a TEA Party and shake our fists at the world. I did that on April 15th, too. The question is now what? We have a great opportunity to shake up Washington and the States with new and energetic people. But it is not an easy row to hoe and will require us to give up something important to accomplish it. Are we ready to do that? Am I ready to make that commitment? This is a question that we all have to answer for ourselves. Just what are we willing to give up to make this a reality for ourselves, our children, our country? If the sacrifice is not great enough, then the reward will slip through our hands and we will lose our freedoms, our rights, our country and our way of life.
Ask the question: Am I up to the challenge or will I sit and let others do the dirty work for me? Consider the cost.

Just as it is important to stand up to the attacks from the left, we must be careful not to allow the right to adopt our movement either. No matter where you stand politically we have started something that has legs. It is centered around values and pricipals. We CAN NOT allow the Republican party to claim that they are the representation of the 9-12 project or the tea party movement. They are just as musch to blame for the roll back of freedoms and the over taxation that has taken place over the last 100 years. The Democrats are going to attack us for being whiny about the outcome of the election. We need to hammer home the point that we have lost our representation long ago. Niether side represents the values and principals of mainstream america. We need to break the back of the two party stranglehold on our nation and bring the voters more choices this election day.
I would have to agree on the basics of what you said, QZEEK22, but from a practical standpoint we really only have two choices in politics, Republicans and Democrats, at least at the national level.
I heard one person suggest, tounge in cheek, that since over 58 million people voted against Obama in the election and Canada only much fewer than that in population, that maybe would should all move to Canada and vote in freedom loving, Constitution respecting conservatives. Now why don't we do that with one of the political parties in this country. The only one that makes sense to take over is the Republicans since they are closest to where we want to go. Start at the local level and get conservatives elected to the school board, drain commissioner, city council, etc. Elect conservatives to state house and senate seats. Raise up the cream of the crop and send them to Washington. But send them with the knowledge that we are watching and we can remove them easier than we got them elected.
Freeflight, if we had to settle for just two parties since the beggining of this nation the political makeup of the country would be whig and federalist. New parties are supposed to emerge. I'm tired of wearing the red shirt and railing against the blue dog dems. It is time for some real change, a new political party based on values, principals, morals, and ethics.

5. Last but by far not the least: Every time there is an election go to the polls and VOTE. IT'S OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, FOUGHT FOR AND WON BY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS!! It doesn't matter who, that also is your constitutional right, JUST GET OUT THERE AND VOTE.
I do watch glenn and agree he's impartial when it comes to shedding the light on misdeeds and corruption. I am a fan. My comment is more directed to names like Newt Gingrich and republican stratagists who came out during the tea parties to embrace the movement. My point was that the GOP has lost my confidence on issues such as shrinking government and reducing taxes.

Isn't it amazing that when ACORN demostrates at AIG, and later its found out that a Union paid for it nothing is said, and ACORN gets 2 bill of our tax money. One problem that was expressed many years ago is that those of us on the right side of history don't have our first team in their fighting the good fight. The liberals have sent their first team to Washington and into other levels of politics. Our first team is out there starting businesses, inventing new medicines, making amazing scientific discoveries, raising their children, homeschooling, etc. Our best and brightest have better things to do than to crawl into the swamp with the slime from the left.
I am not sure just how to get better people to stand up and do the hard thing and run for office. For people who do not crave power, it is a lot to ask. Look at what Sarah Palin had to endure from the media and even from the McCain people. If he wasn't too old to run again, I would pledge to never vote for McCain again for anything. Rep. Schakowsky is everything sad about the state of affairs in our Congress. Congress decided the economy and the equity in this country didn’t fall far enough. With about 9% of the workforce unemployed, they somehow found it acceptable to give themselves a raise. They have done a dismal job and do not deserve it. If they didn’t have the power to self-enrich, I wonder if her attitude would be the same. Her one primary duty is to protect the Constitution and she proclaims our right to protest as despicable. It is useless to argue against such mindless arrogance. We need to continue to rally around the cause and quietly vote the baggage out of office.

By comparison, the MSM did its very best to minimize the Tea Party protests from commentors and reporters using the phrase "TEABAGGIN" (a sexual term) to describe all who attended, but lets not forget calling everyone involved racists. During the Anti-war protests there was never any movement to stifle their free speech in any way where as the Tea Parties and those who attended were under the threat of paid leftwing protesters who were determed to slip with with the attendees and try to disrupt our message, personal threats against Tea Party attendees aside everyone went off peacefully and when they ended not a piece of trash was left…funny enough by comparison, the Anti-war rallies never ended without violence and the amount of trash left behind was truely a disgrace considering many who attend these leftwing rallies are ardent enviromentalist…so much for Earth Day.

If those on the left (at this point its a considerble amount) who delighted in demeaning those who attended this weeks Tea Parties were truely honest with themselves they would take a step back and honestly compare the coverage of the Tea Parties versus say the Anti-War rallies. During the Anti-War rallies the coverage was extensive where as during the Tea Parties aside from FNC and the netroots coverage was sparse at best. During the Anti-War rallies both reporters and commentators did not demean in anyway the protesters…never saw anyone from say I dont know FNC chime in to call the protesters crazy leftwing fanatics who lost the election.
