When I read that Joe Biden only made $250,000 grand I didn't believe it. Apparenlty he makes a little more than than! I did read that his wife is a school teacher and she only makes $20M + a year.
Someone on another site posted a comment that read: "The Biden''s have spent countless hours, weekends and nights raising money for cancer programs, Breast Health Initiative, Boots on the Ground, programs for the homless to mention a few….what have you done! "
Well, if that's true then that is a good thing! You see I'm not into class warfare and its great to know that our VP and his wife try and pay it forward. That's something we all should do more of.
As for the President cool 2.+ million dollars last year! I have no comment…I'm more concerned about what's being spent on Capital Hill than his book deals and charitable donations! We have to pick our battles and this isn't it.
It is comforting to know that the Obamas were able to write off deductions equal to 5 times my Income. Hey at least he gives alot to charity right…..oh….maybe..hmmm.
WOW…….. A whopping 2.7 Million, no average Joe the sixpacker here. And he made all of this money buy the sales from his books? Come on now…, really, Mr. President. I may have been born at night, but I sure wasn't born last night, and of course I didn't fall off of the turnip truck yesterday either. By the way, I wonder what Speaker Pelosi's income was last year? Isn't she a Billionaire?
Folks, you would be floored at the numbers of taxes we actually pay. Check out this link for an idea:
http://www.americanuprisinginc.com/Taxes.html
Isn't It interesting that the number of votes Obama got 69,456,897- was close to the number of
people in the index of Government dependecy. Now he wants to put more on the list.
Chart 10 CDA 08-08
I have noticed that the Obama's Biden's and other wealthy polictitans are happy with thier wealth but not with other people having wealth. This is so wrong! This country has achieved its high standard of living by encouraging people to become wealthy!! I wish every american could be wealthy …just not at the expense of those who currently are. Work for what you want. Achieve the goals you aspire too. But not on my back.
The reason to get rid of non-profits and church donations is that then we would have to rely on the goodness of the goernment not its people. Pretty maddening!
Hear that!, I would not trust the I.R.S. they might misplace my credit no matter what amount. lol
Obama and Biden are not exactly paying their fair share now, are they? Since they like to soak the rich and they both fit into that catagory according to how Obama defines it. However, I do not expect either one of them to be writing an additional check to Turbo Tax Cheat Tim to cover their fare share any time soon. Not too patroitic according to Biden.
I'd like to see Barack and Congress pay a minimum of 15% on the money they have taken from us. After all, they consider it earned income, and spend it as they choose for anything they want. Yep, 15% on a couple of Trillion dollars oughta be just about right.
Hey we are neighbors! Actually I live about 300 miles from Chicago but still feel the affects of the corruption and high taxes. I would move to TX if it wouldn't be so far away from my grandchildren and daughters. I think Rick Perry is right on. Of course we have other governors that are taking a stand. Needless to say one of them is not Pat Quinn.

Great point! I think people will have a real shock next year! You know the Robot isn't going to do it next year, he will instead raise taxes next year because of the current financial fiasco that started when he was nominated in Denver! What a farce this whole administration really is and was predicted to be!
I think every Congressman along with the President should be taxed for the money they are taking from us. After all, they feel it is "earned income" from the people that they may spend as they choose. Yep I'd like to see them pay the taxes on a couple of trillion dollars. Heck, I'd be willing to let them pay just 15%. :>O
<DIV>You are ON! I am going to a Republican meeting tonight. I am really discouraged with the GOP – may be my last. Seriously thinking about looking into the Constitutional Party. </DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>

Did you notice that he closed the deal during the Bush taxes instead of his own. He wouldn't want to take a pay cut.
Yeah, I think it would be interesting to see exactly when those donations were given. I wonder if that PDF included attachments. I'll have to go look.
Well, I looked. I didn't see anything that included dates of donations but I did find the itemization of donations. I didn't count them all but it looks like they donated to probably at least 40 charities. I'll give them credit for that but I still would like to see when the donations were made. I would also like to see a much higher rate of contributions. It just seems to me that if you're going to suggest that America should do more for its' citizens then someone in his position and with his income should be out there contributing way more than 6.48%. That's just my personal opinion but it just really seems to me that if he truly believed in the things he says that he would be out there doing it whether he was elected or not.
We also itemize our donations each year. It has to go on that calendar year. So it'd be in the year of 2007. We all know he's been running for pretty much that entire time.
It really appears as though they have a nice even distribution of everything they could find. Seriously, anyone else itemize their charitable donations? Ours certainly don't come out so *ahem* consistently. Yeah, some were round numbers, but 22 different organizations all getting the same amount? It's a little odd… I'm just sayin'…..
Yeah, where is the redistributing of their wealth? Percentage wise, we did nearly double in our household. It's not much-percentage wise, but it's still more than that.
Wouldn't it all have been for calendar year 2008?
Are you talking about all of the $5,000 donations? It's been quite a while since I was able to donate enough to make it worth deducting but I don't remember it all being so uniform. Maybe there is some kind of maximum involved…I don't know.
Exactly, it just seems like he should be leading by example.
Gee he didnt even give to the Blue Tuna fund….
The UNCF is unnessasary. It is very racist to me. I believe that we are to be a colorblind society, just as the great Dr. Martin Luther King said…I am sure Dr. King if he was not murdered by a complete moron would tell you today that the UNCF is absolutely a racist bigoted orginization….Wake up Tuna your PC headlights are shining to bright…
Negatory, Dusty. No PC involved in my position. Your attempt to divert attention away from your stated position and to redirect at me won’t fly.
Obama is not demonstrating racism by donating to the UNCF, because he is not stating a belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another. However, your stated intolerance and offence toward those who are different from you, or those who identify or live differently than you, is a demonstration of your bigotry. Your “whitey” reference speaks volumes about you.
Try another approach, maybe you can find some way out of this corner. You could admit that your position was poorly stated, and we could move on to issues that are more important.
PS I won’t say that the UNCF is “unnecessary” but I would say that it’s dated and divisive.
So you took my humor as me being a bigot? You are out of your mind. And the UNCF is racist my friend…Just the name in itself is racist…PC run amok in your brain…Wake up before it gets completely sucked down the toilet…
I guess the over 100 sermons i have preached in black Churches makes me a racist too huh?
Its peopel like you that makes me glad I am not in the pulpit preaching any more…
All that money and his beloved aunt lives in poverty!
And will probably be deported in now five months!
last year they said that 2.5 mil was from his books,I want to know how he made the 4 plus mil the previous year.
I wonder about this year as well, the amount stated was for adjusted gross income.
Notice, he made the book deal just before his tax took effect. I'm sure it's because he loaned his campaign money and charged it 25% interest. That's what all the crooks do in DC.
His wife worked at the University of Chicago hospital and was supposed to be making $300,000 a year. The numbers don't add up to me! Right after the Robot got an earmark through Congress, she got this hugh raise that put her salary at $300,000, plus his book kickbacks, his Senate salary for which he was never there–numbers don't add up!
LOL…fortunately, I still had a browser tab open to the form I filled out the other day so it was easy to look.
For those of you whom are working stiffs, a heads up. My daughter-in-law got a notice from her employer about the new tax give back. This is still income that will be taxed. So if you got a refund this year you will get less of one next year or if you had to pay taxes you will have to pay more. You might want to amend your W2 and add that $13 dollars per pay check back in.The tax break is a joke. I know I don't have extra money to pay the tax man come 2010 tax time. Its that $800 per year for single tax payer or $1600 per year for couples. I vote for a refund. Maybe they did this because they know that America will be broke and giveing I.O.U.'s for tax refunds otherwise. This way they will pay less tax refunds and or get more tax money than they normally would.
NO…it's $800 for couples and $400 for individuals…you mean adjusting your W4
I had to laugh when I saw your post because today I noticed we got a whole $9.41 extra in our check and was wondering if I would have to pay that back next year or pay taxes on it.
Thank you. As I stated, I am no Tax wizard.
This is an amazing run on breaching some one's privacy, but if they are willing to do it, I am willing to scrutinize it…
Politicians make it a habit of willingly releasing their tax returns. No privacy is breached when you offer the document up yourself.
Because the government knows how best to spend your money. Whatever is needed to ensure they get reelected.
I see what looks like Barack Obama being charged fines for not paying enough in taxes last year… Am I seeing that correctly?
No, he overpaid.
They did overpay their taxes. But how many people do you know leave 26,000 in the coffers of the I.R.S..That is a yearly gross salary for someone making roughly $14.00 hr @ 40 hrs a week.
I can't personally leave 26 dollars with the IRS. Some times it comes down to the wire, especially if one of the kids is sick…
Univ of Chicago has a magnet school that is pretty good. It is for children, and it is 24K a year. No one is pulling anything over us. Additionally, the school the children are attending next year is about 25-30K a year.
Anyway you cut it, Obama is not in the bracket he should be in. He is one of those that used the "loopholes" he spoke of yesterday so he could keep more of his money. He knows the govt can't spend it nearly as well as he can, and I want to know if he was able to deduct his schooling for his kids.
Thank you, I didn't know, but am informed now.
$47,488 for his children education. Yet, he signed a bill that vouchers are not a way to go with education.
Why does he chose to put his little girls in a private school? How about sending them to a Magnet Public School and donating the money to a good cause. He is going to fix something, he has not experience.
Yeah, he doesn't want his children a) associated with the element that attends the majority of the public schools in DC b) doesn't trust the teachers to teach to the standard that is required for a child to actually succeed & make something of themselves (i.e. the lowest common denominator) or c) knows the public schools across the country suck and therefore can't in good conscience send his kids.
At the same time, they want to remove the ability to homeschool, especially in certain states, because a parent may not be qualified. Trust me, if a parent is willing to stay home from work to educate their child it is a sacrifice that they are going to make sure they do the best job possible. And what about the parents that are only making 50K that sacrifice everything to send their kids to a private school, sacrificing everything else, like some of these parents in DC that still pay on top of the vouchers? They are giving up a tremendous amount in order to make sure their kids get an education, and they just snatch it out of their reach. IT IS WRONG
No No You have him all wrong…..He meant that vouchers are not a good idea for our kids(the American people) But It is a GREAT IDEA for his kids and the rest of the Washington hacks. His idea of donating money to a good cause is bail money for Tony Resko. Hahaha
I posted this on VENT, but it is getting buried in the DHS venting, so I thought I'd try it here:
I saw a lot of Fair Tax signs at the tea parties yesterday, but I agree with Glenn and think that the Flat Tax would be less cumbersome and controversial. The fair tax would be a lot better than our current system, but who would be responsible for setting the tax, and what products and services would they tax? Don’t you think there will be a lot of controversy over what is taxed and how much? We’re already seeing this with the outrageous taxes that they are imposing on certain products. I think the “fairness” of the tax might become very relevant depending on who you are and what your world view might be. I can see where it might jeopardize the profitability of many business owners. The Flat Tax, on the other hand, would simply tax your income over a certain amount based on a certain percentage rate. Besides making sure that the rate is not too high, that sounds pretty straightforward and uncontroversial. Any thoughts?
In order to orchestrate the Fair tax we would need to repeal an amendment, otherwise Congress would levie nationwide consumption taxes (which they already do on certain products) & still expect to be able to collect income tax. Until we can get the amendment repealed we could at least look into the flat tax. But we definitely don't want to be caught off-guard and thing we are getting something if they decided a consumption based tax on everything is good, because they would still collect income taxes and we would be doubly hosed.
In many states, people already are doubly taxed.. even triple. Some states have their own state income tax, as well as a sales tax. So including the federal income tax, we are being taxed three times.
When divising a fair tax plan, we must also consider what the states will do to raise capital, otherwise we leave the door open for continuing the trend of unbalanced taxes.
I agree that the flat tax would be easier to get passed, but the fair tax is better and worth the extra effort. Besides, I believe that our current system started out as a 3 tiered flat tax, and look at the monstrosity it turned into!
How about this for wild idea.
1. There is only a flat tax on income at the state level that every one pays.
2. The federal government gets their money from each state.
3. The tax rate would get voted on every four yrs.
4. Corporate tax rate would match the individual tax rate.
I will say what I have said before on this issue….you start taxing consumption, and consumption will go down even farther than it already has. If I know I'm going to be taxed 23% on a NEW car, you can bet that I will only buy USED cars from then on. I would be shopping at alot more consignment shops…..as well as garage sales. I imagine Ebay sales would explode too. Who's going to decide what's a necessity and what isn't? The GOV'T?? Yeah, right. What's going to happen if this is implemented, and they find out that it's not bringing in enough tax revenue? Are they going to have to keep increasing the rate??
I also think the flat tax may be a better idea. I really haven't read much about the tax issue but the fair tax on consumption might be a bit too much.
Since when did the University of Chicago start teaching 5th and 2nd graders for 24,000 dolllars a year? Is some one trying to get one over on us?
Last I checked the number for taxes you pay in to the Federal Governent is on line 15 of the 1040 form. That would add up to: 78765. The number for Net Income is line 11. Which for Barack Obama is sitting somewhere around 2,625,495. My math doesnt add up to 32%.
I also am not a tax wizard, so If I am mistaken please let me know. I just know how MY tax report looks. Line 11 is my overall income, line 15 is what I was forced to give the tax people…
The Obama filed a Form 1040 not a 1040A. Their gross income was $2,736,107. Their AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) after deductions was $2,656,902. $850,208.64 is indeed 32% of $2,656,902, Net income or AGI is on line 37 of Form 1040. I think your numbers may have come from a Form 1040A.
Charitable donation? I thought he was getting rid of that deduction. Shouldn't we lead by example and not take the deduction that he wants to eliminate.
Do as I say, not as I do. Apparently Mr. Biden started to follow that mentality though. Mr. Charitable himself, with his "patriotic duty to pay taxes"
I run a one chair barber shop in a small town. Between the Fed. SS, state, the property tax on my house, my truck lic and my business lic I pay 34%. That does not count all the other taxes that we all get to pay, phone, energy etc etc. I often ask my self if I should just take a little off the top and I hear the words of my father " you have a moral responsibility to take every legal deduction to avoid paying taxes but you can not evade paying them." This is the same man that told me that, " you can not borrow yourself out of debt there isn't enough money in the world." The wisdom of our fathers is superior to the words of our "leaders" Clearly they could learn a thing or two from my father.
you are right there my friend. Every logical life centered lesson I ever learned I learned from my father.
Makes you wonder who are the fathers of our elected officials? They don't seen to have learned the lessons we did
I don't mean to put to fine of a point on this, but I don't think our President had a father to learn from.
Overpaid by $26,000 and change and elected just to apply that for 2009. Well President Obama in these economic times Maybe you should have taken the refund and let it be known you were investing it back in the market or at least in a Bank to show your confidence in signs of recovery are not just words.
So this is wonderful (for the Obamas). While my retirement account (and I AM retired) was virtually destroyed, Obama pays more in taxes than my total net worth. Sounds fair,,,except I don't get a dime from his taxes…I am still on a fixed income that is now down by 50%.
Why didn't he check the box on his 1040 and offer to pay more to pay down the debt he is ringing up?
That would be his "patriotic" duty!
He wants the government to be in charge of giving to the "needy" because he thinks all of America is as cheap as he is!
This one made me laugh out loud! Good one.
Perhaps the president will lead the way and get in the proposed tax bracket that was suggested for the AIG bonuses?
OHHHHH come on Obama, be a leader!!!!! Since you're such a patriot maybe you should forfeit your pay and retirement from federal service! After all, it would be for "the good of the country"!
That is a service all of our government officials should do. Forfeit their pay and future benefits to show how much they believe in their "stimulus"/spend packages, bailouts and tax hikes!
But then they wouldn't get their piece of the bailout pie.
I personally believe that any elected official should only be allowed to accept thier government pay and benefits having thier assets frozen until such time that they leave office, or accept only the pay from thier assets, and give their pay and benefits money to the Social Security funding. Frozen assets means that they cannot sell any stocks that they currently hold while in office, and if they collect dividends from stock that money will be placed in a bank holding fund until they are released from PUBLIC SERVICE.
Being in government and conducting trade through stocks is more or less a case of insider trading. You know what laws are coming for a certain item and how it will affect those stocks…
2.7 million and gives 127,000 to charity? Less than 5% Cheapskate…
Then he shows he is a racist by giving to the United Negro College Fund…
At least its up from 07….
Huh? How is he a racist for giving to the United Negro College Fund?
He didnt give to the United Whitey College Fund hehehe
Maybe that is what we should do to balance the budget- have Barak go out and do shoe adds for Nike or Rebok! Maybe a Gatorade plug… OOOHHH we could even slip them in to addresses to the country.
He is not racist, but heavily biased for giving to the UNCF.
The White House also released the tax returns for Vice President Biden and his wife, Jill Biden. The couple earned far less than the Obamas, reporting income of about $270,000.
Biden paid about $47,000 in federal taxes and donated $1,885 to charity, the records show.
This is the real cheapskape

Now you have to remember he has that compound that he has to pay taxes on and that can't be chump change!
I'm surprised he didn't donate money to ACORN. I guess he got the tax payers to give them enough.
You can be certain that even that small of a percent happened because he knew we would be looking at it.
How does that saying go- you can tell the quality of a man by what he does when no one is looking?
It's amazing that we can see Obama's 1040, but we can't even see a spending bill for at least 24 hours before it's voted and signed into law! What's wrong with this picture?!
What I'd like to see is his birth certificate and all his school records, and anything else he is hiding from us.
yes,. id like to see all of that and Michelle's records as well
What is more amazing is we can see his 1040 but we can't see his birth certificate.
I want to see his college papers, and any other sealed information that we could not see before the election….
The Biden's gave less than 1% (0.7%) to charity and the Obama's gave 6.4%. No need to donate much to charity when you know you're heading a government whose main goal is to use tax money, other people's money, to redistribute to those determined to be in need by bureaucrats. I guess the administration doesn't think that nonprofits do enough? Sheesh! These men give so little, how could they possibly know about all the good work done by nonprofits and churches? So much for American generosity. I suspect many participants on this site donate 10% of their income to charities. We give it freely and from the heart. To have the government "redistribute" my money or your money, is wrong, wrong, wrong. We all have to let our elected officials know how wrong it is and how they will lose their jobs because they insist on increasing spending!
Actually, Obama's was 4.7% and that's actually up from what was reported for previous years.
I too noticed how little Biden gave. He made over a quarter million and donated a whopping $1,885 to charity??? I guess it's only patriotic if you give money to the government.
Let's see, he earned $139,000 as a senator where he spent most of his time running for another office. I'm sure there are some folks in Illinois who are proud of that. (Said with sarcasm)
You are correct – Illinois is proud of Obama AND Blago. After all they made us #1 in the country. That is, #1 for corruption in government. Actually we have been that way for a long time, it's just that the news media didn't acknowledge it until AFTER the Presidential election. hmmmmmm, now wonder why that was? It was a no brainer for those of us that don't live in Chicago.
As a long time former resident of Illinois who got very tired of paying the ridiculous taxes in the Chicago area, you have my sympathies! Moved to Indiana and my taxes were half what they had been with far better services, better moral, and NO CORRUPTION! We also had three times the land and twice the house with half the taxes! Best decision we ever made!
better have H & R BLOCK recheck it, because if turbo Timmy "G" prepared the Big "O's" taxes, there could be a mistake or two. and it just wouldn't look good if someone in the white house made a bobo on their tax returns.
Naw…I'm sure that after all of the tax troubles this administration has had that they probably went over this with a fine tooth comb. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if, just to make doubly sure that everything was right, they just cut out the middle man and went straight to the head of the IRS to get their taxes done. After all, who would know tax code better than the head of the IRS? And, of course, if the head of the IRS prepared the tax return there would be no need to audit it.
JQ….Remember Turbo Timmy IS the head of the IRS now…..
Well I guess under Obama's wealth redistribution plan he needs to pay more federal taxes. So I say he needs to live by what he preaches and donate say another 8 percent to the Internal revenue system to lower the federal debt. That is simply another 216 thousand dollars which I am sure he can afford since we are paying for his housing, his meals and the meals of all of his friends, his health care, and to fly his make up artist for his wife around the world.
(As a sub note Joe Biden making 250 grand I do not believe for a moment. I would say the man is majorly hiding some income there. )
Most people got back in their paycheck anywhere from ten to sixteen dollars. However, excise tax went up, state tax went up, if you smoke cigarette taxes went up, fuel tax. The Obama plan, we give you ten bucks and you pay us back twenty. Its time for the Fair Tax!
It reminds me of an old Abbot and Costello routine. Do you have Two 10's for a 5?
Only under the Obamanomics plan it's two tens for a single buck. More has been promised by Obama, "more pain."
I may have this wrong, but I heard that only the withholding was changed. This means that they are taking a little less right now. However, the taxtable is the same. Which means, next year you will owe more because they didn't take enough out all year long. You'll also owe more because he's taking away the tax deductions. You look at his charity donations and it's a clue to why he's so eager to do away with that tax deduction! It doesn't effect him in the slightest!!!
That's the way I understood it too. Tax rates haven't changed from everything I've heard, just the amount of withholding. In other words…Obama did for us what we all could have done for ourselves if we changed our W-4.
You clever conservative right winger. You caught it. Care to double down this time while we move the shells around. Enjoy your weekly hamburger while the tax man gets the bump at the end.
Amen freeman, FAIR TAX. It will force them to be responsible and will return the power to people.
Good post, excellent points. Fair tax or flat tax arguments ought to be minimized so as to getting it done. Politicians who've voted us into generations of indebtedness must be voted out asap. Dittos for political critters who’ve voted against states rights by voting for a larger more bloated, more intrusive FedGov.
Look at his illegal aunt. She is living on money donated by us the tax payers.
Not funny! You are a pinhead.
He’s only recently given anything to charity, and then he chooses either non-mainstream charities, or global charities. It’s very disconcerting. Biden, on the other hand, is truly more democratic in his approach: He doesn’t give anything.
The thing I like about the Fair Tax is that there's no way to escape it. If you do not work, if you're here illegally, you still must consume…there's no getting around paying for those that tend to suck off of the government and contribute nothing.
Don't forget the death tax, that makes 4 times.
The fair tax is a tax that prostitutes, pimps and foreigners would also pay so that's how they would get their funding. I'd also suggest that they change how they give money out. Because we aren't going to tax production, it will boom which will create more revenue for the Government.
But some serious thought has to go into how money is spent in every department and how they calculate and issue budgets. Right now, departments or agencies get a certain amount and if they don't spend it, there next years budget gets decreased. They need to give all agencies a set amount. That way, if they can't afford to do their projects this year, they can save until the next and take care of it then. This gives the departments incentive to be frugal with their budgets.
Listen, Joker, I don’t know who you are, what you have or haven’t done, and I don’t really give a crap. When you say that the UNCF is racist – and you have never qualified your statement as to how or why they are – and you shoot your mouth off about Obama not contributing to the United “Whitey” College Fund, what do you assume people should think of your statements or your position? On their face, they are racist by absolute definition. Do I think you were kidding? Maybe you were, but in your kidding you revealed an interesting continuity in thought. Maybe you’ll think about those kinds of statement before you post them next time.
It’s people like you that make me glad you’re not at the pulpit any more, too…
Did you leave your heart in San Fransico along with your funny bone? Oh I guess you think Im gay bashing now since I mentiones San Fransisco?
What part of Negro do you not understand? UNCF>>>>Racist by name and by deeds…
Dusty, I understand funny, really. Maybe I’m thin skinned from time-to-time, but never PC. I have witnessed a lot of very inflammatory, racially charged posting on this site. Intolerance is a disease and those who spread it should be called on it. If I did not characterize your intent correctly, I apologize.
I don’t think you’re gay bashing by mentioning San Francisco. I often refer to it as San FranSICKO, but it’s more about their style politics than anything else is. I love the town and frequently make the four-hour trip just to sit on the wharf, eat crab, and take in city and people watch.
I will not change my position on the UNCF being racist. I have a different belief on the issue than you. We will have to agree to disagree. I do, however, and as I stated before, find organization such as these to be very divisive, if not downright discriminatory. Organization that continue to separate themselves, separate all of us. Diversity does not work!
I agree and I also apologise for being flippant. I am like that. I have several pastor friends that are black and they are trying to integrate their churches. The racism is there. I was asked to teach at several Churches on race relations as I as many feel it is really socio economics that divide us other than race…But the counter racism is still greta. There are also some die hard dumbasses in the white community that donrt help things…I try to make fun of the problem and that usually will break down a few doors…I once had a Pastor introduce me as Mr Cracker….We had a great weekend at his Church…
Unfortunatley racism is alive and well…most people dont recognize it as what it is…poor people that feel left behind and they blame it on race by the real culprits like Jesse Jackson and Al fatass Sharpton…The two BIGGEST racist in the country egging them on and blaming the white man…
If they everyone would just laugh at it and have some fun…..
