I am 110% behind the governer & am trying to move to Texas. This is a clear message to the congress, senate, and Mr Obama, That these blatant violation's of the counstitution also have consequenses. That antiamerican president needs to start trying to be the unifier he was talking about in the speaches. Or how about at least try'n to start a new era of couperation with his people. Its not like he won the election by 25 or 30% it was more like 5% thats alot of people he's disenfranchising worse than we we already were under Bush. At least he was a patriot.

  2. That makes me want to move back to the great state of Texas.

  3. JaJasMa says:

Maybe if I close my eyes & click my heels three times I'll be in Texas. I'd hold my breath for my Governor to follow suit but I'm sure that may only land me a trip to the ER. Kudos to Governor Perry and the fine state of Texas! It's about time someone had the guts to stand up to the Encroaching Feds. Hopefully Texas is just the beginning of many more states to come.

  4. Texas will always prevail, I say we secede from the Union ASAP. UNITE!!!! If other states want to come with, that may be fine also.

  5. TXartst says:

Just went on CNN.com to see if there was any mention of the Tea Parties. NOPE! But, they do have on on Perry's statement about secession. The comments are, of course, mostly fromleft wind nuts wanting to leave the state.. So, I had to comment. Well, both of my comments are under moderation and most likely will not be posted, since I mentioned CNN's dissing the Tea parties. I'll be checking back to see if they post them.

I was born and raised a Yankee, from the state of Vermont. I have lived in SC and Georgia since 1999. Now I know why the south really left the Union. As I hear it, it was more about taxes than it was about slavery. Thankfully we got rid of slavery but I think we still have a problem with taxes and a heavy handed Federal government.

Hope SC gov Sanford will hold his course. Ready to move with Texas.

It's time to take on the Federal Government and put them in there place. The place our founding fathers out them. We are America. The government works for us. If Texas wants to take the lead, I'm in. I live in Texas and I don't want one penny of that money the Fed is trying to push on us. Our freedom is worth a whole lot more. In fact my freedom isn't for sale. Let's push back. Vote Congress out in 2010. Tell them that's what your going to do. There are two types of Senators and Representatives. The ones that are corrupt and the ones who know about it. Both are wrong. Both are guilty. Let's send them home. We are stuck with Obama for awhile but we can change Congress and get it working for America again. That will keep Obama in check and from running the country in the ground.

Apathetic and the Rendell (democrat /Acorn) voter fraud machine in philly

  13. aggiekelton says:

I apologize for the score of "0" I wasn't aware that comments from new members weren't taken seriously.

    But

I might be inclined to take your deal. You guys (y'all here in Texas) take Perry and we'll take Rendell. At least he can't be perpetually re-elected by calling himself a conservative. He'd be out in the next election – not to mention, powerless in Texas politics until then.

    • rsexteriors says:

Hey maybe that is the key. Switch them around now and then. You guys could actually vote Rendell out and although you do not like Perry I am POSITIVE he would be much better for us then Rendell. That would be a win win.

    • rsexteriors says:

Why apologize. I did not call you a troll (thin skinned). I said you possibly were because we have been infested with them lately.

As far as not taking you comments seriously. I would not have responded to your post if I had not taken you seriously

  14. Steve S says:

It's amazing how one sentence can be LETHAL to the Establishment. I believe our First and Second Amendment rights are important, but NOT as important as the TENTH! Without the Tenth, we wouldn't have the first two. What happened down in Texas makes me Proud to be an American, I seriously doubt the Political Machine here in Missouri will follow suit. Gov. Perry, I'll ride with you any day, rest assured you've got some Partisan Rangers here in the Show-Me State…We got your back.

    • nlweed says:

I do believe that Texas is the only State which according to our Texas Constitution can legally desolve it union with the United States! Everyone says that we are different and way to proud of our state. But we are a state full of people that are not afraid to show or voice our opinions. I pray that we continue to lead with our voice and the show of strength at these rallies.

  15. There are people who are for one party, one candidate no matter what his or her past record is. Nothing can change their minds, not even waking up in bondage, and are blind to truth. To those who think outside the party because they feel betrayed by either party and there is no difference between the two, I say to you my brothers and sisters we have to vote all the encumbents out and start all over again in 2010. We have to give Obama a lame duck Presidency to halt his S ways and let the new congress know we are in charge! There are those in here who will continue to divide and conquer. "Although a republican government is slow to move, yet when once in motion, its momentum becomes irresistible".

Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis C. Gray, 1815

  16. scorpion says:

CookieLou I agree I think we should have save our constitution marches. When it comes down to it that's really what it's all about. Saving our country and what it stands for. Maybe the idiot MSM can understand then what we are marching for!

  17. Nomarxism says:

This is another issue you will not see mentioned on MSNBC. Looks like the Kenyan usurper and his cabinet of tax cheats will not be allowed to destroy this country after all. I live in Pennsylvania and with our current representatives we will not see something similar proposed until those incumbents are voted out of office. I hope 2010 is a real eye opener for them.

  18. influ3nce says:

I knew that this type of stuff would come from Texas.

They are practically a country in themselves!

What will Obama do one might ask.

A whole bunch of nothing, Texas is to big to be messed with, plus he can use this as an example of "Right wing extremism"

    Go Texas.

  19. TexasBeaner says:

Perry Vetoed 49 bills passed in the 2007 legislative session, after the legislature went home, so he could not be overridden. Mr. Veto would probably argue that he restrained himself from the record he set in 2001, when he vetoed 82 bills, more than any governor in any single legislative session in Texas history since reconstruction. According to Paul Burka of the Texas Monthly, 17 of this year’s Perry vetoes were simply to get back at legislators who crossed him on his precious mega-special interest driven Trans-Texas Corridor and HPV vaccine mandate.

    1. In 2003, Perry and Mike Krusee (R-Round Rock) snookered their legislative colleagues by pushing through legislation for the Trans-Texas Corridor and freeway-to-tollway conversions, that few understood. The Governor, Krusee, Texas Transportation Commissioner, Ric Williamson, and a few others continue to force what the public simply will not accept. And a revolving door in Austin goes round and round. Our favorite example is Dan Shelley, a high powered lobbyist for CINTRA (the Spanish toll road consortium), who wound up working in the Governor’s office writing transportation legislation.

    2. Vetoing the first Corridor/Toll moratorium bill (HB 1892), then deforming the second moratorium bill (SB 792) taking from ordinary Texans a clear, unadulterated shot at a 30 month moratorium on the Governor’s universally hated plan to build the massive Trans-Texas Corridor and his freeway-to-tollway privatization boondoggles. (Don't worry, folks — this fight is far from over, as Texans are gearing up to give the Governor the political hell-on-earth he so deserves to put a stop to this.)

    3. Vetoing eminent domain reform designed to protect private property rights and to stop the taking of over 1 million acres of prime farm and ranchland — for the Trans-Texas Corridor — the largest land seizure in United States history.

    4. Calling three special sessions on mid-census redistricting, disenfranchising not only Democratic voters, but the state’s growing numbers of independent voters whose voting power is diminished when “swing” districts are eliminated. The redistricting violated the Voting Rights Act, campaign finance laws and necessitated huge expenditures of taxpayer dollars in endless lawsuits and legal maneuvers. (In the end, what did we get — the downfall of DeLay, the revolt against Speaker Craddick — still underway, and the people’s movement for Perry’s impeachment! But scoundrels never learn.)

    5. Perry’s small business franchise tax, which has increased taxes for many small businesses by a ten-fold average! (This is no joke, folks — straight from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.)

    6. Vetoing no less than 2 bills and one appropriations rider to help the beleaguered Community College System, including $150 million health insurance for the community college employees, while admonishing the colleges to “follow state law”. Why doesn’t the Governor do the same thing by curbing his veto fetish?

    7. Unbelievably vetoing a bill banning diesel-fueled school buses idling to curb bus emissions exposing children to fine particles that can trigger asthma attacks. This bill had widespread support, no voiced opposition (including the Governor’s office) and was drawn upon an initiative by the President!

    8. Selling out consumer protection for homeowners by stacking the Texas Residential Construction Commission with appointees from the construction industry. For example, Perry took $690,000 from homebuilder Bob Perry (Perry Homes — no relation) and appointed Perry Homes attorney, John Krush to the Commission. Former Comptroller Carole Strayhorn thought it was such a joke that she called for the abolition of the commission and welcomed a legal challenge by the Attorney General.

    9. Mandating Texas girls be vaccinated against the HPV virus, before entering the 6th grade (to which the legislature gave the full Nelson, pinning Perry to the mat, undoing this Merck Pharmaceuticals special interest driven deed!) It turned out that Perry had received campaign money from Merck, as did much of the legislature, and his former chief of staff, Mike Toomey, is a lobbyist for Merck.

    10. A series of vetoes put the Perry poison pen to bipartisan criminal justice reform that would slow the pace of incarceration and provide for alternative funding mechanisms. Meanwhile prison guards remain some of the worst paid workers in the state and, as a result, the state prisons are dangerously under guarded. (In fact, we hear the Governor thinks prison guards should be paid minimum wage for the privilege of putting their lives on the line every day.)

  20. Islandsox says:

    LOL, too funny!

  22. rsexteriors says:

Since you have a score of "0" I am not sure if you are a serious poster or a troll

    But

I am still more then willing to make the trade. You guys in Texas take Rendell off of us up in PA and we'll take Perry. Deal?

    • Like you said….it's the voter's responsibility….if you don't like Rendell….VOTE HIM OUT

    • srtttu says:

Fortunately we don't have to make that deal. Just because we in Texas haven't particularly enjoyed many of Perry's policies certainly doesn't mean want your guy. We understand that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Regardless of Perry's past performance, his comments absolutely reflect the opinion of every Texan I know. It is great to be a Texan for sure.

    • DTOM76 says:

Apathetic voters across PA are indeed to blame. Philly and Pittsburgh put Rendell in office.

  23. Andreaen says:

    I echo your sentiment.
    I Love Texas also.

  24. rsexteriors says:

    I do understand human nature.

I also understand that the founding fathers gave us a way to limit the term of someone who is corrupt. ELECTIONS.

Why are so many affraid of ELECTIONS. You are now calling for what an annual voter approval. What is an annual voter approval? what if the people do not appove? Is this an annual ELECTION or just an annual POLL.

I do not want any reps treated like royalty and if the VOTERS decided, through the ballot box, to kick everyone of them out after just one term that would be fine by me because it is CONSTITUTIONAL.

Term Limits are not constitutitonal and will do NOTHING about the corruption.

Most here seem to think all these reps were just Lilly White people when they ran and got elected and then the power corrupted them. I contend that may be for a very few of them, but most were already corrupt before they were elected. And Elections can weed them out IF the American people fulfill their responsibilities to stay informed and protect our Constitution through Elections

    • atvnut says:

Dude I agree with most of what your saying, but you keep missing the point. The bigger majority of people do not want to be informed. They prefer to stand and wait for someone to tell them what to do. This is where special interest comes in. They put on the show for the candidate of their choice. Voter education is what is needed. Where do we begin with voter education? Grade School. The government needs to get its nose out of education. They have taken away the pledge of Allegiance. When I was in grade school we all said that every morning. If came over the loud speaker along with the morning announcements. That doesn't happen any more. Last time I checked this was still America! We used to hear about our responsibilities as citizens of this Country. Things like voting and jury duty. They don't even talk about this any more. We need to get back to basics. Teaching our kids about our Country and what makes it the greatest Nation in the World.

      • rsexteriors says:

I'm not missing anything. I've stated, in other theads about this, that a large percentage of American's are Lazy and self absorbed and uneducated about their country and their Constitution. I get that.

I'm 150% for starting to teach our kids REAL history and the Consitution, etc

But that has NOTHING to do with Term Limits. Because of the problem you stated, many feel we have to have term limits because the American people can not be trusted to be informed before voting. And I understand that feeling. I use to be PRO TERM LIMITS, but over the years I have realized it is just a gimmick that will do nothing about the problems you mention and will probably make things much worse.

Our country is on the verge of going all the way over the cliff with no way to turn back. I pray every day that Americans WAKE UP and start taking their country seriously because that is the ONLY way we will fix our government.

  25. Andreaen says:

I guess you have only seen Austin City Limits on PBS.
Texas is a large and varied state with many great cities and sights.
You are missing out if that is your opinion.

  26. crashnburn says:

AWESOME TO HEAR IT FROM TEXAS! (but…..)
Remember that we can ALL leave the union by simply not giving them our money and votes! Americans have always been the world's cowboys. The world has always been pissed at us (Until we bail their asses out) and those on the world stage who still point at US as the problem (ignoring our solutions) will NOT BE HAPPY until the United States of America has been reduced to a pile of radioactive ashes!

STOP APPEASING THE GLOBAL WANNABE'S—-COWBOY UP and BE A PROUD AMERICAN
(Then vote ALL the bastards out and fill the ranks with REAL AMERICANS!)

    • Well said, and said like a true American!!!

    • ricks1675mba says:

And when Obama brings us down to their level they will whine because we can't bail there asses out. Just remember, if you go to France, ask if they speak German and when they say no, Please say "Your Welcome" just as a reminder as to what our brave boys in uniform did for them.
It is time to realize that we are, have been and will continue to be, the best damn nation that the world has ever seen. If they don't like it too damn bad.

  27. Andreaen says:

I am sure you have heard the saying that if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
Crockett and the other patriots made a stand and counted the cost. Something that every member of our military does when they volunteer.
I see nothing wrong with that.

  28. Sami4Freedom says:

I am proud to be a Texan, and to call Rick Perry my governor. If you think he has done such a terrible job why are U still here? Look at Texas' record for jobs, taxes, and growth. He has made some mistakes but who hasn't? U r bashing the wrong person….. also a true Texan stands up for our State not talk down about it. U must be sick.

we should all send our governors an invitation to our tea parties, it should read a little something like this…..(please imagine this in an English accent)…………..

Hey Governor, care for a spot of tea to help wash down all those …PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES

  32. They said only 20 people would show up. They said we were terrorists if we did. They said we are violant. WELL, in my community of about 100,000, we had 3000 attendees on a work day! It was peaceful and we all go to blow off some steam. From federal to local, we stood up and said NO MORE! We were very respectful and all had a great time. All I can say is….USA!…..USA!……USA!!!!!!

  33. At the establishment of our constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions, nevertheless, become law by precedent, sapping, by little and little, the foundations of the constitution, and working its change by construction, before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life, if secured against all liability to account.

Thomas Jefferson, letter to Monsieur A. Coray, Oct 31, 1823

  34. Yep its passed in both Senate and House in Idaho!!!!!! Idahoans are just as proud as Texan's as every other American state. We believe in states rights and individual rights and less government.

  35. Skeeter J. says:

Well, I think that depends on your point of view.

I would argue that despite his death, his actions that day were so great that his name still lives on, and will continue to do so for many, many years. He is, and always will be, a great American hero. You, however, will not have that honor. You can't possibly think you are anywhere near the man Davy Crockett was, can you?

You're seriously trying to talk crap about Davy Crockett? wow. get a grip, dude.

  36. Skeeter J. says:

Well thats your opinion, to which you are most certainly entitled. I think a lot of folks would disagree with you.

    I sure do love Texas.

  37. CookieLou says:

You go, Governor Perry! I hope you inspire other governors to follow in your footsteps. We're having tax day tea parties now, but in future I'd love to see "Save Our Constitution Day" parties. Keep up the good work.

Are you listening and watching, President Obama, Senator Reid, and Speaker Pelosi?

  38. TimR says:

I think Texas should annex the United States !!

  39. Mugwump says:

One thing that we must ask the Texans…

" Are you better off than you were before the 4 trillion stolen dollars? "

  40. ChrisTX says:

33 states have already introduced 10th amendment resolutions. Perry is highlighting it in Texas, but we aren't the first, or only, state doing this.

You can check the list of states and where the resolutions stand at this site:

I would be interested to learn how many of these states have a Democrat for governor.
Here in NJ we may have to wait til 2010 when Corzine is gone before we could ever pull something like that off.

A few minutes ago, the teleprompters just imformed OBama to tell the nation that on this April 15th, 95% of Americans received, or will soon get, a tax break. The teleprompters also informed the wealthiest 2% of Americans they will receive NO tax breaks, and for those making $250,000 or less, they will not receive a single DIME in tax increases…WHAT PLANET does this administration live on??

    • 357ben says:

      Planet of the Apes!

How bold can he be to say that no one making under $250K wont see a tax increase? Does he realize that the "cap and trade" BS will basically put huge taxes on all of us? Does he really think we're so stupid, we can't see our taxes going up?

I will give him this, he's got balls! No brains, but balls!

      • gk4freedom says:

I agree…did you notice he managed to find the two (2) people who actually bought a home in Washington this year…you know, got that $8000 tax break…..geeez

I'll get a $3,000.00 tax increase in 2010 when the "tax cuts for the wealthy" expire. And we make less than 60 thou a year. So technically he's not lying , it's going to actually be 30,000 dimes not a single dime.

He also said he didn't bow to the Saudi king

  42. triplicate3 says:

I spoke at our TEA Party here in Uvalde, and I told the folks that came that we are not pushing the Democratic platform OR the Republican platform, simply an American platform. I so hope that this movement doesn't fade into oblivion…that people get fired up. Please phone or write your state legislator about the 10th amendment resolution. It is a resolution and has not been passed as a law. Let's encourage our legislators to make it law. I have a SECEDE bumper sticker on my truck (and I am a grandma!). Frankly, the rest of the country could take a lesson from Texas and those few wackos we do have can move to the east coast or wherever all the liberals congregate. By the way, the 10th amendment resolution that Gov. Perry is talking about is HCR 50.

  43. DocKBR says:

To finish my thought, perhaps the education needs to be that even if some don't pay for the representation they receive, their children and our children will, and then their childrens children.. So payment will be extracted in one way or another. I think this is what supporters of big government don't get.. They believe money and prosperty is distributed by the government and not by people. Perhaps all government aid should be a a loan that those who get it must pay it back without the "relief" available by bankruptcy? I wonder then if they would want the representation if ultimately they personally had to pay for it.

  44. Islandsox says:

Well, I don't think any state will find their perfect candidate because we all have different views on issues. But any person who stands up against big government and means it and puts themselves out there to be attacked by this Chicago machine and the far left hate mongers, my Texas ten gallon hat is off to him. But of course all politicians now know that people are fed up and watching everything. Most will be on their best behavior up to the next election. They know we will really study their voting records and things they propose.

  45. DocKBR says:

I am strong supporter of State rights. Also, I am not sure where a question that has been bothering me should be asked, but maybe this is relevant enough here. First, BOOYAH for the tea parties!!!!!! Second my thought and question. The original tea party was to protest Taxation Without Representation. In this day and age with progressive tax law, the lower 50% of wage earners pay only 2 to 3% of federal taxes, but receive the most in federal aid (that is until the bailouts went to many improperly). The point of this thought, well, if they pay little federal tax, but the government represents their interests in terms of social programs, then isn't their situation Representation Without Taxation? This gaurentees that they will always vote their own interest and keep these people and policies in power. When you have Representation without Taxation, then the governement tries to equalize the outcome for everyone. Woudld you call this Representation without taxation? (I wonder if people would want the representation if they had to actually pay for it?)

I am so proud to be a Texan where standing up for your rights is a given! Texas secede!

    • And proud you should be! I'm from New York and I hope I live long enough to see my state succeed. Unfortunately we have "Big Government" in New York and one hell of a debt. My grandchildren and great-grandchildren have a huge burden standing in front of them!

    • lawbama1 says:

Amen to that I am from Bama and 3 cheers to Texas for standing up for our states rights. Bama secede!

The Boston tea party was the start of something big back then. could it be that history is repeating itself? One can only hope that the people that we put in Washington get the message, because we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore!!!

  48. Islandsox says:

More proud than ever that I am a 3rd generation Texan. I'll be flying back to Arlington from Roatan all day tomorrow. Texas can take care of itself and if the borders get even more shaky, they can always just deputize a lot of Bubbas.

  50. Islandsox says:

I don't know what a NWO is, but I am a 3rd generation Texan living in the Bay Islands as a retiree. I lived in Dallas and used the North Tollway to go back and forth to work from Richardson to downtown Dallas for years. I also used the George W. Bush Freeway which charged a toll fee. Toll fees are a lot better than being a recipient of Obama's plan that will charge us all a lot more for electricity, force or fine us for not driving our Texas trucks instead of those little green machines that we'll all get killed in, not following our Constitution. As you can see, I have bigger issues than a toll. Tolls do add revenue to keep those Texas roads as wonderful as they are, and you know Texas has the best roads in the USA.

    • TexasBeaner says:

NWO=NewWorldOrder one world government i know what you are talking about i live in Irving toll booths are just another tool of the government to take your freedom away and if im not mistaken the money from the booths is not use for our streets or highways i mite be wrong but i seem to member reading about that .
go check out http://www.infowars.com/ you mite find some info you havent read yet.

      • mroskos says:

You don't have to drive the toll road if don't want to there is no freedom being taken away. It's to help cut traffic down on certain roads. Yes the money is used to maintain the toll roads and some streets and highways. It also creates jobs, I live in Houston I love to drive the toll roads. It makes my commute faster with less traffic, and when I come to Dallas I take the toll roads when I go to Plano it's great. There was a deal where the District Attorney office was using the money for some other reasons but it wasn’t Rick Perry or anybody he put into office. The D A in the Counties of the toll roads Regulate the day to day…and thanks I will check out that site.

    • Wish my state would fix our roads….got so cold here this winter that our roads are WAVY….pothole city too. But I'm sure my Democrat governor will not do anything about it. He just keeps raising the cigarette taxes….and now smoking in every building has been banned too…even in BARS.

      • Islandsox says:

A WAVY road? Like a Tsunami concrete road? The roads here on Roatan are the pits and I'll give you one little taste. Since we have no drainage (Hondurans don't believe in drainage) any concrete road after two years of our rainy season here, it's like speed bumps only they are big dips. Well, the president of the country came over and was driving on our roads and was screaming bloody murder at our Mayor (terrible mayor by the way). Voila! road he drove on got fixed the next week. But they fixed it without rerouting traffic (duh!) so people on the east end couldn't get to the west end and vice-versa. Ah, the non-thinking Spanish people here. They only think about today, unlike our American President who is planning very terrible things for the American people ahead of time.

I agree, as a Texan in exile in Florida I am serriously considering a return to Texas.

  54. Your arguments have merit-however, you must understand human nature. Power corrupts & career politicians are 1 of our major issues in this country. Not that Special Interests are not but they are less effective if the rep is short-lived by law. We are a Republic that functions by rule of law-thus term limits are the anwer. We have to understand what a rep is before arguing about if someone is good at it. Our reps are just that-reps of the people. It does not take special skills. If we had term limits and annual voter approvals we would be better off than we are today. The idea is to stop treating reps like royalty-they are employees, not royalty

  55. I like the idea of Palin doing it for her state – if only we could get all 50 states to stand up and confront this power seeking Federal government. Then we would be making some progress.

Ok, I finally found the time to finish doing a little research on this… I went to the best source i could find, the Federalist Papers. The Senate was most definitely created to represent the interest of the various states. I can't believe i never thought to look in to this more. The 17th Amendment is an absolute nightmare for states rights. I most definitely agree with your comments. From what i have gathered, the election of U.S. Senators by State legislatures was another one of the built in checks and balances, courtesy of the Founding Fathers. Every time we mess with the checks and balances, the government runs amok.

I'd say your original assertion is correct- nothing is going to change unless the 17th Amendment is repealed.

  58. Career politicians are corrupt. They owe no allegiance to the people, because they receive hundred of thousands of dollars for re-election, hence unions, liberal causes, conservative causes, etc. The only alliance they see in the people is election time and after the election is over, its like the wind has come and gone. I fought for term limits in the early 90's when I ran for congress and we used Dan Rostenkowski as the poster child who was a corrupt representative and you could not get him out of office because of his machine. Anyone who thinks term limits is a bad idea is a machine piece trying to suck in the innocent to believe their candidate is the right candidate. You want to know who is the right candidate? One who accepts no pac money, has constant transparency, listens to the will of its people, votes less taxes, less government, protects the Consitution and believes the Declaration of Independence is the foudation of our Consitution, does not tow its party line and says to their constituents I will serve my time and then I am coming home, so find another candidate!

OOOPPSSS the Good governor should be careful, he's now a security threat according to the D.H.S.

Anyone else get the feeling that they are being unfairly profiled and labeled and in some cases accused and found guilty without any trial whatsoever. Maybe it's just me, but I don't take to kindly when my Government calls me as being part of "a nation of cowards" or "the typical white person clinging to guns and religion" or "Un-american" for wanting immigration laws enforced and then calls me a "Domestic Terrorist" for studying the founders, wanting a Republic and wanting to preserve the constitution. Then to add further insult, they tell me I'm a national security threat for wanting more power for the states and less to the Federal government! What the hell is going on with our COUNTRY?!?

I can take the insults, really, they're just words, but when the words profile then make policy and when my government puts me in the same boat as McVeigh, Kaczynski, BILL AYERS and those other sick lunatics, well that's just not cricket!

It's not only an insult but a disgusting label and comparison to some of the worst loons of all time.

  61. OldMarine says:

Now if we can get a few more governors to grow a set and follow Gov. Perry's lead. Maybe Gov. Palin can do the same, there goes the two largest states in the union, ironicly they also have the most oil and I think TX has the refineries. HEY GOVERNORS wake the _____ up!

    • defender163 says:

      • OldMarine says:

It's not just McCain, its a lot of others including some talk show hosts. They always talk about the inside the beltway crowd, if we want some true change in congress, we have to look outside the beltway. Think \”outside\” the box, outside the norm, maybe that's why Jesse Ventura got elected, people were tired of the same old same old. Most importantly, they have to be willing to stand for what they believe.

Let's not be to quick to kick Sarah Palin to the curb as McCain did as well as alot of the "Conservative" talk show hosts. As much as I like certain ones, they seem to be focused inside the beltway. They are thinking "inside" the box, we, if we want to reclaim our country, we have to think outside the box and beltway.

    • Islandsox says:

I saw Toomey on the tube today. He is ahead of Specter like 47 to 21 % or something like that. Specter is not a conservative, he says he is but he always votes WITH the democrats. His fatal flaw is coming home to roost.

  68. ElenaMarie says:

Here's to you Gov. Perry for having the COURAGE and CONVICTION to do what's right for the people you represent. Washington could learn a thing or two from you. If our founders where alive today, I'm sure they'd be saying, "CHEERS!!!"

  69. This pretty much answers any questions regarding secession.

  70. Patriottwo says:

Texans viewpoint: Perry is a professional politician and therefore not to be trusted !! Since when did he listen to "We the PEOPLE" ? Now that he sees he is in serious trouble as Texas voters have gotten fed up, he back a moth eaten resolution similar to what the legislature of Oklahoma passed a LONG time ago. Our state has millions of illegals living on my $$$ – free medical, free food, don't pay taxes & load the state with drug gangs. Perry is only doing what he thinks is needed to get reelected. I WANT TERM LIMITS… I WANT A CITIZEN GOVERNMENT. I WANT TO AVOID SOCIALISTIC NATIONALIZATION OF MY STATE. We lost at the Alamo – then won at San Jacinto. This is not a short term game.

  71. Nisa79 says:

"I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state, Gov. Perry said. That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union."

I couldn't agree more. Amen! I wish all Stat reps felt this way!

  72. Andreaen says:

im all for what texas is doing and im watching it very carefully, texas may lead the way for the other states, but i wonder how far the governor will take this, i hope he does not buckle under, i hope he has enough power to do what he wants to do, we do need to take our country back , it is going into such a bad place, when the u.n. can tell you how to raise your children we are in real trouble

  74. RaptureAlert says:

What an excellent position to take – an EXAMPLE of what ALL our leaders should be doing in the face of what is presently going on in Washington. Protecting and upholding the Constitution of the United States is a GOOD thing. God bless Texas and Governor Rick Perry! He has proven himself worthy of the high office he holds.

Hey, GOP! Are you paying attention? We don't want to go further Left as Meghan McCain apparently thinks we need to. We need the kind of leadership this event demonstrated! Sure, it won't help us where the mainstream media is concerned, but guess what? True conservatives of the Ronald Reagan variety don't give a hoot what liberals think of our candidates or think of us! Most Americans are conservative at heart and I believe they would jump at the chance to elect a TRUE conservative. That's why Sarah Palin was such a hit with America – and still is, in my opinion, despite enormous efforts to discredit her.

If the GOP wants to be another Democratic Party, it's time for a third party to rise up comprised of TRUE conservatives and we ALL need to get behind it.

  75. Andreaen says:

    • 10th Amendment is a US Amendment and each state respectively should jump on board. Perry is using this to his advantage since he is coming up for re-election next year. Perry took a beating with that untested cervical drug and monies paid to his campaign. I do not see him as a hero, sorry.

  76. SCarolina says:

Thank God for man with courage to stand up to a tyrant, that is the Federal government. ..each State is a sovereign State, it is in the 10th Amendment our Gorvernor in SC did not take Tarp money because the Feds. as always told SC how the had to spend the money, our Govenor was going to pay SC debt off, but the Feds told him he had to use it for more programs, he told them to keep it…lets hope more Governor have the courage to stand up for State rights…Sam Houston would be proud of Gov. on border issues, I've read that he hasn't been so helpful. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and most politicians know how to talk the talk (or if they don't, they have a teleprompter to help them.) I think that's why picking a president based on character and past actions is more important than on a single issue or mere words. I hope Gov Perry follows through with his statement and inspires other state reps to do the same, but only time will tell. I'm glad he at least made this statement against the federal government. States do need to take back their rights and authority as written in the tenth amendment.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

We need to set up a Million American March to Washington to protest!
Is anyone organizing such a thing?

I like these ideas, something like this would be a step in the right direction.

Do you really think any of the people in congress would fly for something like this when they get millions of dollars every year from big business and special interest groups?

This brings us back to the main problem we have in America today. The majority of the people would say your idea was a good thing for the country and politics, but there is no way short of a total congressional cleansing that anything like this would make it to the floor of the house or senate. The government doesn't respect the people and so far the people haven't shown any teeth which is what it will take to get anything done.

    • rsexteriors says:

That is where WE THE PEOPLE come in. We VOTE for Congress people that WILL, as you say "fly" for these reforms. If NEED be then we vote them all out and replace them, but at least then we are using the ELECTION process and voting them out for sound reason and not relying on a gimmick (Term Limits) to do it. Because if we let Term Limits do it they will be replaced with "like minded" replacements, but if we vote them out we VOTE IN representatives that will enact these type of reforms.

      Does anyone see the difference?

  84. rsexteriors says:

How long have you been at the same job?

Would you reccommend that Microsoft be forced to get rid of Gates and all management every eight years no matter how well they have managed Microsoft?

Does it really make sense to have novices in office and no one with much experience?

  85. Why can't people like you respond with constructive responses. All you can do is BASH! Just once try presenting meaningful dialog. I'm tired of your threats, negativeness, and anti-American proposals. We have a Constitution that gives us the right to change by proposals that are voted on by the people of this great country. If you oppose freedom and government by the people, of the people, for the people my heart goes out to you with my prayers. God and our founding fathers gave us the best country in the world. Because of envy and selfishness most of the world wants to take our freedom from us, We the People. We've been there through 2 world wars and thousands of Americans laid down their lives for freedom throughout the world NOT just the United States of America. Yes, mistakes have been made but for God's sake, we are human and the majority has always put forth their best. Do Not be so eager to sellout your freedom my friend. God bless you and may you see the light and Not what big government offers you.

  86. rsexteriors says:

You make my case. People are for Term Limits because they disagree and are fed up with uniformed voters who do not take their responsibility seriously.

Now tell me how Term Limits fixes what you are upset with?

You tell Pelosi she is term limited so Pelosi has her closest advisor run or her husband and the same special interests work to get that person elected and then when that person is term limited back comes Pelosi…………….

Fix the special interest problem and decide as a NATION if we really want to go down the Communist Fascist road or do we want to start taking RESPONSIBILITY for what WE have ALLOWED to happen to our government

  87. rsexteriors says:

So you are SUFFERING in Texas? No income tax, the recession not really hitting you. More Jobs created then any other state. BOO HOO HOO.

First of all I don't think Chuck Norris has ran has he? Pretty hard to become Governor if you don't run.

I'll tell ya what we can do an even trade. We'll take Perry for Pennsylvania and you can have Rendell. Deal?

Be careful what you wish for. Texas is the shining light on the hill to the rest of us

  88. It is great that Perry is standing up against Washington, but I cannot trust any politician who wanted to force young girls to take some new experimental drug for prevention of ovarian cancer, while taking money from the drug companies for re-election. Forcing people through mandatory laws to take a drug that was not tested completely is just big government looking into my life and telling me how to live. I do not elect public officials to denegrate my private life or tell me how I should live. Sorry Gov. Perry, I think you are using the tax crap to increase your poll numbers for re-election, and I have a long memory.

  89. rsexteriors says:

Your reasoning does not make sense (sorry). So if you can run again after being out one term then Kennedy runs for two terms then his son or wife runs for that seat for two terms and then back to Kennedy for two terms.

Special Interests is what is Channeling and Controlling us. Fix that problem

And I have not heard you or much of anybody put the bulk of the repsonsibility where it should lie. WITH WE THE PEOPLE. Our founding fathers gave us the most perfect system that has ever been created but we are too BUSY or to LAZY to uphold our responsibilities as citizens. I know it is frustrating (believe me) and most that want Term Limits are really just trying to get around having a majority of ignorant and uniformed voters, but there is no getting around that. Term Limits does not do it. We are either, as a Nation, going to take responsibiltiy for our Governement or our form of government is over. PERIOD.

  90. I WANT TO MOVE TO TEXAS NOWWWWWWWWWWW!!! I want OUT of NEW YORK if the rest of the country still wants to go in this direction, they can go by themselves, you'll find me living in Texas with my husband and kids…I'm about 2 seconds from getting out of New York and will be heading there!!!

I hope Santorum or any GOP hopeful runs for Gov. of PA.Rendell has made a mockery of our Commonwealth and he is making Pennsylvanians want to flee to Texas also.If I had the means I would be gone.I worked in TX for several years off and on and loved it.Nice people, fun around every corner,As a hunter,I was thrilled with the wildlife management, what a great place to live.(get rid of the dry counties…lol)That was something different in Texarkana. One side of the street was dry and one wasn't.Something we don't have here.

I'm very happy to see a governor stand up to the idiots in Washington. States need more power and less federal intervention. That is how the founders wanted it but somewhere along the lines (FDR), the federal government decided that the Constitution was meaningless. Time to get back to our roots.

  96. In a Republic of FREE STATES we should all consider moving to a state that reflects our values and stands up for what is right. THIS is supposed to be the result of the American Experiment, i.e., 50 unique states in concert with one another, NOT 50 little henchmen all towing the line for the federal government.
States run the Federal Gov. not the other way around!
