I lived in Mississippi in 2005, and lived through Katrina, and I remember how Mississippi took no chances, and called a state of emergency, got everyone evacuated, the whole nine-yards. In Louisiana, they didn't want to hurt the summer tourism industry, and kept downplaying the danger. The Hurricane did veer to the right (into Mississippi), but unfortunately for Louisiana, the levy broke, and well … the rest is history.
Louisiana was flooded, and apparently nobody saw it coming. It was a huge media orgy or sorrow and loss. In Mississippi everyone's houses were completely destroyed (if you could see water from your window, it was leveled, and yet … no big media, no big humanitarian need. Everyone was fine, and life in Mississippi recovered.
It was the government of Louisiana, which didn't want to scare away the tourists that have the blood of everyone who died because of that Hurricane on their hands.

PRPLHRTPATRIOT, I understand your inner conflict. I understand your sense of almost helplessness. I too have my days. I too lose my temper, I too get depressed when I look at what our nation has become. Patriot, America needs you. I need you. You can disqualify yourself from this fight if you so choose, and you bow out with faithful service of America under your belt and all the honor to accompany it. One Marine to another I beg you not to. I ask you to stand with me and those who will listen. I ask you to stand for America. To stand for those who do not have your strength/wisdom/boldness. The Marines have that nice little slogan that says "The few,the proud, the Marines." Continue to be one of the few and the proud till' the day you draw your last breath and God calls you home! We took an oath you and I. To defend the United States of America against ALL enemies both foreign and domestic, let us be true to our oath, let us be true to ourselves, let us be true to the Corps, let us be true to America! You are a man that has lived with honor. May you die just the same when that time comes. America needs voices like yours. You will be heard before me my friend. You are the elder, you have more wisdom than I. If nothing else we need the likes of men like you to pass the torch of the true American spirit on! You are not useless, in fact your country has never needed you more. So I ask you again to stand with me in this fight. If we lose, we lose, but we owe it to ourselves,to the Corps, to America, and to the children of our nation to fight this fight. As it is said "It is better to die on your feet than to live a lifetime on your knees." The cost of turning our backs in disgust is a cost too high to count. This is not the first time you and I have faced insurmountable odds. You can take the man out of the Corps but you can never take the Corps out of the man. Even at old age a warrior still has that sparkle in his eyes. Though the body may be weak it is very clear that your mind is sharp. You are still a warrior. A warrior without a cause is as good as dead just like a lion in a cage at the zoo. You have a cause. You are a student of history I am sure. Remember the battle of Thermopali? Few stood against many. Let the "Persians" come my friend. I may give all in the process, but that is what I was borne to do. "Ready your breakfast and eat hearty, for tonight we dine in hell!" Remember what Semper Fi means? "ALWAYS FAITHFUL" Stand with me brother!

Patriot and Aspade I sat here reading your posts and tears ran down my cheeks. Tears of sadness for our country and for the many men and women that have followed in your footsteps and for the way this travesty of government has managed to minimize your, and their, efforts. But my tears were also tears of pride. I am very proud to have grown up in a country that took in and/ or bred men of such fine character. Patriot, Aspade is absolutely 100% right that this country needs YOU right now. Just like Aspade, I NEED YOU, now more than ever. Spread the word, speak your heart, gather up what ever men you can find that have your same heart and get them involved too because we all desperately need them as well. Go to the VFW and the VA hospitals and any where else you can think of where there are wise patriots like your self and call them to arms. You may not be able to get out in the trenches with bayonets fixed but you sure as hell can still sound the alarm and rally the troops. YOU, Patriot, have so much to offer, still at 85 yrs young, I beg you, DO NOT GIVE UP THE GOOD FIGHT NOW!. I may not have been of age to serve my country in battle on foreign soil, but I am damned sure not going to shirk my responsibility on the home front. We are in a battle like no one has ever seen. Pray there are no shots fired and no blood spilled, but it is still THE battle of all battles, in my opinion. Lead us, in your own way, to take back the hill! Put a spit shine on your boots, put them on your weary feet and get on with the marching! I can't speak for anyone else, but as for me, I'm falling in step with you and will follow you and any one else that is as AMERICAN as you are. Apade, I suspect you will fall in as well and I think there are about 400,000 others, at least, that will be there with you. GOD BLESS YOU! I love you and what you (both) stand for.

OLDHEN, I thank you for your kind words and support. I am only one man, Patriot is only one man, but it is my heart's deepest hope that maybe just maybe our words will not fall on deaf ears. That maybe there is some chance that I can raise awareness, change a mind, etc. Patriot and I took an oath as warriors of this nation to defend America. If only for the small chance, if only for the glimmer of hope we must continue to fight. A warrior's time of service does not end when he holds his DD214 in his hand and returns to civilian life. There your true challenge begins. It has always been the few who have fought and died for the many. Our forefathers left us that legacy. America was built on diligence, determination, sacrifice, and faith, if we do not continue those traditions today then truly America is but ash in the wind. I will continue to apply myself in every way I can to bring restoration to this nation. It is my continued prayer that God aids me in this mission, that he guides my steps and imparts wisdom to me, that not words but his are spoken.

There is no question that the odds are stacked against us. There is no question that we have a long and painful road ahead of us. Let there be no question that no matter the cost, I and others like me will stand and fight. It is not for my own interest that I fight, but for those who can't fight, for our children and their children, etc. It may be a fight that I will not win, but it is a fight that I am bound by love of God,country and family, and Corps to undertake. God be with us…I am about my father's business.

      • I have been keeping an eye on all you guys. I am especially impressed with Prpl Patriot. The man astounds me, in that he is so sharp and passionate at his age. I always looked up to Marines, and desperately longed to be one – and that Patriot is a really perfect illustration of why I wanted to be one of the few.

Thank you Patriot. You're undoubtedly my hero. Please don't ever stop sharing your wisdom and perspective here! Those who are willing to hear, will hear your message and have no choice but to be moved by your life itself, and additionally the astute things you post here. F*** those people who say any single thing against you. They are the ones who will never hear, and waste screen space with their dumb*** babble. Don't waste your time or energy with them. They will NEVER know.

Spade, you're such a great man to see here because you represent to me, and this entire site, one of way too few young men who are always of a rare and honorable type. I'm just into my thirties, and I think I saw you were in your mid-twenties, and I know that our generation together with those about to graduate high school or college is stuffed to the seams with unprincipled, self absorbed, and downright disgraceful citizens. I commend you for being one tall tree amid a wasteland of weeds.

Lastly, Hen, I hope Patriot was moved as much as I was by what you had to say to him. You three should stick together on this site, giving each other thumbs and support. Put your backs together, guys, and plow through the idiots on here. I can't wait to see all of you with huge yellow numbers, and a follower list to rival all others. I know I'm already on your lists.

  3. Why is Obama bowing to Saudi tyrants, calling us arrogant, funding stem cell research, asking us to talk to Cuba and Iran without precondition, agreeing to visit Russia and China but bad mouthing our true allies? It is apparent, he wants us to fail. Stand up and be heard!

  4. You…

You must have been gathering intel on me for years, because you found each and every button, and you pushed them all successfully. I somehow doubt that there is as big a difference between our levels of wisdom, as you think. I know that having been once a Marine, mandates that I am forever a Marine. I guess sometimes I lose sight of why I enlisted in the first place, because it is very difficult to see reminders out in this country anymore. You just showed me one, and it jogged my memory.

There are two tattoos that are still clear as the day I had them done when I came home from the Pacific. One is on my left bicep, and the other on the right. One is "Strength," the other is "Honor," and they are both written in the Armenian alphabet. The first one was my way of keeping my mind on the strength I possessed only because of my father's strength. The other was also a memorial to my brothers in the Corps. I relied on those reminders for decades, but as many things do, they eventually faded away from my mind, though still sharp as hell on my skin.

I read your comment here, thought for awhile, and for some reason jumped up and ran to the bathroom mirror. (running for me is like running for a turtle)

I took a good long look at them for the first time in so long – not just noticed them as I shaved, but REALLY looked at them. I came back and reread your words. With your message, and my renewed focus on the messages in my ink, I nodded and chose to keep breathing in the vital air of this movement until I could no more. Thank you, son, brother, Marine.

Oh, by the way, you also helped me choose to keep our battlecry "Semper Findelis" in my heart again… and keep it on the skin in front of that heart. My wife will be in for a shock tonight, when I start getting ready for bed. :)

    • Aspade says:

It is my honor to continue to serve this country with you. I am glad that my words hit home. I am always here when you need a little cover fire so to speak. Glad you got your head back in the game. Strength & Honor my friend.

  5. The phenomenon that is allowing the insane to ignore the truth is being fostered in colleges around the country and the world. Our children are being brainwashed in our colleges. They are being taught to accept lunacy.

  6. NancyNurse says:

I think the key is looking at credible information that can be measured. That is what rational thought is based upon. A scientist demonstrating a change in something, was not given credence, therefore, forewarning was not heeded. I cannot imagine what this scientist must be feeling now.

  7. lukebrown says:

Sounds like when certain members of our government ignored the warnings for the housing/credit crisis. Also ignoring the whistleblowing on Madoff. All because the big old government knows better.

  8. This reminds me of the silencing of free speech currently going on the the USA. There is a real issue that endangers the US Constitution. Although obama "might" be a US citizen, he is not a NATURAL BORN citizen. Therefore, he is not eligible to hold the office of President. Despite the fact that there are dozens of law suits demanding he release his vaulted long form birth certificate (not this lame Certification of Live Birth) and his college records, the news media and even the conservative political commentators refuse to discuss this issue and thereby refuse to raise awareness of this issue.

The longer this issue his buried and ignored, the greater the catastrophe will be to the foundation of the USA.

    • I understand and share your concerns with Obama's unwillingness to just humor everyone who is questioning this otherwise routine step in the process of cementing a candidate's eligibility for office.

I originally felt that there was far too much 'conspiracy buff' attention on such a simple detail. It seemed like everyone who questioned his eligibility was just focusing on Barack's untied shoe laces, instead of the arsenal of weaponry he had pointed directly at the Constitution. As time passed, I started to wonder why the question was still being posed. Surely, a man comfortable in his own innocence wouldn't hesitate to show any documents in question, simply to put the uproar to rest for good.

But here we all are, and the question remains unanswered. Saying you're innocent, even in a court where a man is considered innocent until PROVEN guilty, means nothing until all the facts and evidence have been reviewed. It is becoming less about the answer, and more about his insatiable habit of covering things up, doing things behind closed doors, and suspiciously controlling the flow of information on many issues.

America wanted change. America wanted a new president who would be one of them, and an executive who would provide unprecedented access and transparency to the Oval Office. America didn't get change. America didn't get a commander-in-chief that was naturally one of them. America didn't get the truth… and YES we can handle the truth.

The only thing that changed in the White House was the decor; and the only transparent thing in today's administration is a previously hidden agenda that flies in the face of America's best interests.

Thank you, NR, for keeping your eye on the elusive ball that keeps being shuffled in a political shell game.

The Government!!! Knows all, Sees all, lies all the time.

  10. Aspade says:

The government has for a long time withheld the facts from the people to benefit themselves. The government operates on a need to know basis and obviously they think we don't need to know.

  11. DianeofIL says:

This is what socialism and communism gives you. That is what scares my about where our country is headed. Big government means losing our freedoms, which includes freedom of speech. That is what we are trying to fight here on this site and at every Tea Party. Whether you are a liberal or conservative, you can't possibly want to lose our freedoms. Support the constitution!! Support the Tea Parties!! Whether you hate or love Obama, Bush or Clinton. Fight against the congress members that do not believe in our constitutional rights!!

  12. Starwings says:

How many movies have there been about the crazy scientist that warns of a coming disaster and the government officials don’t believe him? Then the disaster happens the government goes running to the scientist. So, rule for government officials: If a crazy scientist insists there is about to be a disaster, believe him.

    • oldhen says:

Starwings! Do you REALLY want the government to operate according to the fiction that is on the big screen? Thanks, but as for me, no thanks! They already live in a make believe world. I shudder to think how bazaar it would become if they actually did "educate" themselves by watching fictional works created for entertainment purposes only. Perhaps a good documentary on some historical events, but even those can be jaded and one sided. No, I think it better to leave the movies for strictly entertainment. As for your "rule for government officials" just because someone is a scientist doesn't mean he has the correct answers. How many times a day do you see TV commercials about drugs being recalled or lawyers filing suit because the drugs are causing "serious health conditions, including death"? Scientists created those very same drugs. I rest my case.

      • Starwings says:

My statement was made as humor, nothing more. No big political statement or statement about misunderstanding of reality because of misinformation in entertainment mediums. I was just commenting on a disaster movie cliché actually happening.

Hindsight is always 20/20 is the saying that comes to mind. There wasnt enough content in the story for me to decide wether or not disregard of human life happened here. As much as it stinks sometimes bad things have to happen before the eyes of many will open and see the truth. Lets just hope these people make it through ok and act to put themselves in a better position for when this happens again. We can compare a trajedy like this one to the one we suffered on 9/11. Did our eyes as a nation stay open and alert? Maybe, but I feel like they are starting to close once again:-(

  16. What about the head of Nasa who is calling for violence to push their GW ajenda.

As for peer reviewed, several of the original Greenie weenies that started the global warming hysteria are now crawfishing on their original claims. I was told by one of the the world is burning crowd in a moment of cander "I think he was stoned," that all of the models are based not on long term climate data (Real Numbers) but assumptions and outright guesses. Of course if you have an agenda your guesses will prove your hypothesis, and of course they plug in the data that fits their hypothesis to "firm up" their models. That is not true science it is junk science and propaganda. Oh perhaps you will find it interesting reading the names and held doctorates of the so called Global warming community since when do dentist and other Doctorates not involved in Earth Sciences know a thing except what they were propagandized about in University?

Now where they going to Extricate3e the rest of the Katrina bums from Houston. they had been put up in free housing free utilities free food, and whenHouston said enough, they actually sued instead of getting a job. Houston Wont do it again.

They lost just over 500 cars the first day they got there, as did Baton Rouge 284 cars. All of them from the projects. that wouldn't leave. Should have just left them there or make Jefferson deal with it ..liked his job. that would be to much though the 93000 would have thawed out in his freezer:)

  18. Jaggers says:

Please compare and contrast the following…

    1) A scientist, supported by hard facts, warns of an immediate and impending natural disaster but is shut down by a politician. (Italy earthquake)

    2) A politician with theories based on innaccurate information runs around warning of impending doom, (believed to be a thousand years away) and shuts down any scientist who argues against it. (Global warming)

Please discuss…extra credit goes to those who show how science can REALLY be put in its right place.

    • Zeromentor says:

Awesome points there Jaggers. I got a good laugh out of that.

It's too bad those scientists are now saying all ice will be gone in 30 years instead of 90, and if we don't act now all is lost. Which ironically, 30 years is so close, even if humans and our machines DISAPPEARED that pollution that's here would carry out that so called prediction. If we have 30 years it's too late…

Ofcourse, that's if they are right to begin with (19,000 other scientists say otherwise)

    • Sami4Freedom says:

I agree. I think that global warming is a bunch of BS that politicians have come up with to help Gore get over his loss as president. I have done alot of reading and do not believe in global warming and it is just one more way to keep pissing away $. Thanks for your posting….

      • BigSlick13 says:

When Al Gore starts living like he believes his own B.S. maybe I'll listen to what he has to say. But at this point and time it just seems like a way for him to make money off of his "Carbon Credits". What a joke Carbon Credits are.

In the meantime I'll continue believing that man has very little influence on the temperature cycles of the planet.

    • lornaduwn says:

It's been proven that pollution actually COOLS the earth. After the 9/11 attacks, when there was no air traffic, and hence no jet trails, a study was done that showed the earths temperature rose slightly. It seems that more of the sun's rays actually made it to earth. With all the volcano's going off recently I figure we're good for a very long time, unless of course it gets too cold!

  19. I live close to the Cascades Range Volcanoes and that chain runs from near Seattle south thru Oregon and into Northern CA.

It's pretty easy to jump right in and either agree or disagree with the prediction. Reality says that if there are seismically active regions that have warranted monitoring, then we need to understand that sometimes the best warning we can get (for now) is an increase in activity and compare that pattern to past events. Let's study the data before we jump to a conclusion.

Think of it this way, in the last 50 years, how many lives have been saved by the improvements in weather radar and satellite imaging……….LOTS! Tornadoes, hurricanes and other weather events used to be responsible for far more deaths in a given year than was common in the era of the Revolutionary War.

We should remember that it was Benjamin Franklin who was among the first to study the Gulf Stream currents and although his findings and theories may not have be considered spot on by our modern standards and expectations; he was pretty darn close and his scientific mind contributed much to the saving of human life.

I think maybe, we should consider that a review of Mr. Guliani's data and analysis might yield something beneficial to the future of earthquake prediction. In the spirit of honoring Ben's inquisitive nature and contributions, we owe a review of the data to the victims and hope that we can learn what could be done better next time.

  20. OldMarine says:

We have fallen down the rabbit hole through the looking glass, I keep expecting Alice to come up and invite me to the unbirthday party.

  21. OldMarine says:

If you believe what you're saying, I have 200+ yellow submarines for sale, contact the New Orleans city mayor.

  22. Uh… I didn't see anywhere in Patriot's comments where he said anything close to blaming governments. He simply said the word "prediction" was slapped onto the scientist guy by the mayor, some cops, and whoever else.

So, if pointing out the quotes of authorities is somehow blaming them for an earthquake, then I guess you're right – but judging by the numbers, or lack thereof, that you've received for "actually knowing and understanding the science" I'm leaning in the other direction.

  23. MissR says:

    Nice juxtaposition Jaggers!

However, I really only want to speak to #2 though. How is it that a politician can accomplish this? Well, he is nothing more than a figurehead for the machine behind him. I do not believe that the notion of Global Warming really has anything to do with true science for them at all. It is a means to further agendas that have been long held. So they choose to use a valid scientific opinion to support the ideas they already believe in. It scares enough in the public to get support for their agenda. Nothing more, nothing less!

And for the valid dissenting scientific opinion, it has no relevance to them at all because it doesn't serve their purpose.

  24. Your 15 year long wait is a long time, but a wait of about a month or so, is nowhere remotely near "along time into the future."

It's already obvious you're set on autopilot and will just continue on the trajectory set for you by your "about 10" other sources. So, I won't interfere with your blind, jaded, and overtly influenced mindset.

Good luck, though, because who knows? Maybe someone else will spend the enrgy to successfully redirect you, but I am too tired. It was nice talking with you…

    • Adept says:

Oh yes. I am "misdirected" because I actually know and understand the science, as opposed to a random armchair pseudo-scientist on a forum.

Get a grip and actually look into the science. This was ONE scientist making the claim, dozens of other debunked them. The fact one happened does not make him right. he was off on both time and location. No scientist int he field acknowledges his methods.

Just because you're all ramped up to blame the government doesn't make this guy Nostradomus.

  25. Are you kidding me?

As someone allegedly from California, you of all people should know that "imminently," in regard to seismology isn't saying tomorrow or the next day. The imminence of earthquakes, and the assertions of scientists as to the probabilities, are all on a geological scale. In the big picture, that month between Giuliani's assertions, and the actual occurrence is but a blink of the eye.

I do absolutely agree with you that the van and mic stunt was unnecessarily over the top, and had a possibility of causing dangerous panics. That dumb move does not negate the soundness of his science.

    • Adept says:

Imminent has the same definition regardless of the science used. If he wanted to draw attention he should have explained or given a range of months/years in which is could happen.

I don't see how my growing up in CA would some how miraculously change the definition of "imminent." Quakes happen on fault lines all day every day. Thousands of them every year in Japan and hundreds every year in CA. It is a GOOD thing. The small quakes release pressure and prevent big ones. Of course one is "imminent." Probably several a day.

This guys science was way way off and his actions to evacuate people meant he believed it would happen RIGHT NOW. You don't evacuate people if you think its off in the distant future.

    • Though his tactics of the mic and Van was a bit over the top, he did what he felt was best for the people. Just like the 9/12 project we are doing what we feel is right. We all may be put in the loony bin but we feel that a storm has arrived and is eroding our constitutions and rights. There are people in ACORN, unions and the government who think we are nuts. They don’t see that what the government is doing is wrong, of course they are beneficiaries of the spoils.

  26. 42lead says:

Someone posted that everytime Al Gore opens his mouth it snows or gets really cold. He could solve global warming just by opening his mouth.
I think there's some merit to that! We had horrible weather last week: snow, rain, freezing cold and sure enough; Al Gore was in town!

    • Here is the thing that bothers me, Al Gore has had exactly ZERO debates on the subject. He states, there is no need, it is true. Well, holy crap, I'm sold! Also, if global warming is really the problem he claims, why does he consume 20 times what the average person? Why does he fly around in a private puddle hopper from meeting to meeting? Then get into an SUV and drive to a hotel that is bought out for "privacy". This is the greatest scam ever. We are now being forced to believe with all these bs taxes they are inventing.

      • RonL11 says:

I live in Alaska, this has been the coldest winter in 50 years, and we still have 2' of snow and it's 8 degrees. Usually about 25 this time of year. We had 2 days all summer that hit 70, the glaciers are growing the polar bears are up from 5000 in 1979 to 20000 now, the sensors missed a piece of sea ice the size of California.

The critter I trust. The snow crabs left kachemak bay many years ago because the water was a bit to warm, they are back. the Salmon have tapered off a bit the water is to cold..I trust the critters! Sun spots are the reason for most climate variations and we are now in a very low sunspot cycle…you can look that up on the net.

    • dalkirk says:

you would think the opposite would be true with all of the hot air he is spouting. (Gore).

  27. Adept says:

You're living in fantasyland my friend. First of all, the technology doesn't exist. So therefore, doesn't apply to this discussion. "Yes we can" as attractive as it is doesn't apply to the cold hard reality that "we can't yet."

You're more than welcome to chip in and try to develop the technology if you like. Doesn't change the fact it doesn't exist right now and that this guy didn't actually predict the quake.

You're also delusional if you think animals can predict them. They don't. They react to micro quakes we can't feel. This isn't prediction, it's sensation.

I get that you want this "happy feel good" thing to work out but you need to ground youself in reality or you just come off as a whacko.

    • Gregory says:

Interesting that you used the word "yet" in this comment, yet did not in your first posting. I honestly don't know why you are here.
Faith is not grounded in reality, but is in fact just the opposite. If I based all of my decisions on "cold hard reality", I would be nothing more than a computer. Labeling someone as a wacko, delusional and living in fantasy land just because you don't agree with them does not aid to a discussion.

      • Adept says:

Grow up dude. We know less about the inner workings of fault lines than we do about Mars. You're continued insistence on "Yes we can" is both immature as well as unrealistic. Just give it a rest or take it to a peace rally where it belongs. You haven't the slightest clue what you're actually talking about.

  28. And just what do you think our government would do if a vulcanologist or geologist went to USGS with a prediction of the Super Volcano known as Yellowstone national park was about to pop its cork or that a 9.8 was about to traverse San Andréus fault line or New Madrid? Because we do not yet have the ability to accurately predict such events this government or any government would take a very jaundiced eye at such predictions. Say we did evac millions of people for nothing, no one in government would stick their necks out, it is easier to call someone crazy than to spend the dollars to check out their documentation. In this case the guy was right, so Berlusconi’s government now has egg on its face and the Italian people may just decide to boot his butt and the people in government in the next election cycle over this. I think it would behoove the scientific community to look at this guy’s methodology and perhaps if they can string together a series of accurate projections this may be the breakthrough that they have been seeking for predictability. Just common sense but government and common sense is an oxymoron for government. You are damned if you do and damned if you do'nt.

You read my mind. Global warming in the democratic movement… this earthquake mamojama is not going to help anyone get in office.. Sad isn't it. I pray for the families..

  30. Terlizzi999 says:

From what I read quake studies are less a prediction and more a probability…as stated above, technology has not advanced far enough to predict such an event.

    • You are correct, there are no predictions involved, and Mr. Giuliani never claimed a prediction. He just tried to get the word out that there was a strong probability of a quake happening in the near future, and it would most likely occur around L'Aquila. Other people chose to label his statements as predictions, for whatever personal reasons they had to do so.

Thanks, I appreciate seeing another person who understands the difference.

      • Gregory says:

Why is it that a meteorologist can put in the same numbers over and over again, and get a hundreds if not thousands of different chart as to how the weather will be? Eventually he has to pick one, and give others his forecast. It is simply an educated guess.

      • Gregory says:

Why is it that a meteorologist can put the same numbers into a computer program over and over again, and get hundreds if not thousands of different charts as to how the weather will be while using those same numbers? Eventually he has to pick one, and give others his forecast. It is simply an educated guess.

  31. Adept says:

He didn't "predict" the earthquake. He ran some tests months ahead of time and made a general assumption there would be a quake. He also took the insane approach of setting up a mic system in a van and scaring the hell out of the people in those neighborhoods.

The fact that a quake happened later on does not mean his prediction was correct. Quakes can not be predicted, the technology doesn't exist. I grew up in CA where they are common and where we've been told the "big one" is coming for the better part of 15 years.

Bottomline is that the guy predicted it was imminent. It wasn't. The fact one happened later on doesn't mean he was correct. I could stand on a street corner today and "predict" a crash. I could even give scientific evidence and statistics one would happen. If after being carried away by the police a crash happens a week or month later then you can not say I was correct in my predictions.

    • OldMarine says:

As a scientist, Chemistry and Geology degrees, earthquakes can be "predicted", not to the exact day and time, but there are signs and can be used and whether you believe his method of alert was right or not, he did try to do something. It was like a discussion on Nostrdeumas (sp) I heard about how he predicted 9-11, Penn of Penn and Steller, said if that was the case, why didn't someone predict on 9-10. Can you imigine if someone would have said, that a terrorist attack was going to happen 9-11. They would have been locked up, so maybe they didn't say anything. At least this guy tried.

  32. defender163 says:

This is what will happen here with this giant grab by the govt. The difference is we won't be able to voice our opinions in forums like this. Those who silenced The scientist Giuliani, should be charged with a crime. He is a scientist not a government conspiracy nut job.

  33. amstecher says:

This is the problem with political correctness…

It makes us uncomfortable so we should ban it. All this does is breed ignorance and stupidity.

    • Adept says:

What does this have to do with political correctness? The guy was using junk science to predict earthquakes. There is NO WAY to predict an earthquake. It is IMPOSSIBLE with our present technology. You can't do it. Period.

The fact one happened a month later has nothing to do with this guys predictions. He said it was imminent but never said where it would occur.

I think you should look into what political correctness is. This is entirely unrelated.

      • Gregory says:

I would disagree Adept. It is the impossible that keeps us going. It is the impossible that opens up new technology. It is impossible to go against a nation armed with only words. The only borders in thinking we have are those that are induced by others. "Can't" is not an answer, it is simply an end to thinking. Animals can predict such events. So why can't we?

      • This man had no crystal ball or tall pointy hat when he spoke of the likelihood (or probability) that an earthquake was coming soon – he had scientific data that spoke to the greater chance of a quake. The only instances where the word "prediction" was ever brought up, was in the paragraphs of a journalist's summary of events. He never once claimed his interpretation of the data as a PREDICTION. That word was shackled to him by the mayor, the police force, and the media out of the knowledge that such a word would likely be a successful tool in discrediting a man that they ignored, to the cost of many lives.

If you want to go read the article again (or for the first time) you'll clearly see in the very first sentence, that Mr. Giuliani DID assign a probable location for the coming quake. Read it again, it's there.

You are absolutely right in saying it wasn't a matter of political correctness in any way whatsoever – it was a matter of egos and arrogance combining with scientific slander and government-led ass covering after the fact. Unless you have read any direct quotes from Giuliani stating his educated conclusion – based on the exact same science that all seismologists use – was a "prediction," then you ought not continue the campaign of slander and misinformation whether your motivations are just under informed, or some sort of chip on your shoulder about people who earn the right to say, "I told you so."

In retrospect, as I reread your words, I realize you are absolutely right in one other point – you are completely correct – it is IMPOSSIBLE to predict an earthquake. However, it is not only possible to collate all the data regarding quantifiable measurements and observations over a period of time and logically deduce the increasing or decreasing likelihood of a particular event occurring, it is also a commonly practiced scientific method all over the globe.

I would be very surprised if you went up to atmospheric scientists, also known as meteorologists, and told them they are just fraudulent mystics relying on "junk science" to make "predictions" about the weather over the next few days. Meteorologists and seismologists both work by the same scientific processes. So, whether you want to call it a prediction, or a forecast formed from observing and measuring natural patterns, occurrences, and anomalies, it doesn't matter the label you want – it is still strong science from which relatively accurate expectations may be communicated to the masses.

You had such a great point with your first sentence! The quake doesn't relate to issues of political correctness. So, kudos for that. By the way, the next time a meteorologist tells you and your family that a very likely tornado or hurricane or dangerous winter storm is being "predicted" for your area, just stick around and ignore it… you'll be perfectly safe. What do those junk scientists know?

But then again, if their government is like ours, they would have to talk about it for a week, go on vacation for two weeks, then come back and say…..what were we talking about? Oh, yeah! An earthquake. Just then the ground shakes.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the work 'warning'.

Not disagreeing with you, just providing a 'flip side'.

  38. patriot70 says:

…the head of the National Geophysics Institute dismissed Giuliani's predictions.

"Every time there is an earthquake there are people who claim to have predicted it," he said. "As far as I know nobody predicted this earthquake with precision. It is not possible to predict earthquakes."

It always bothers me when someone says it is impossible to do something.

It bothers me more when the talking head is purported to be an expert that has a vested insterest in the infallibility of their entity. To admit the individual was correct is to admit that the gallery of "experts" (with private funding!) were wrong or incompetent….

    • OldMarine says:

  41. Romanofzki says:

Look at the European Model at work. Supressing the ones who might cause panic in the collective group. This is were America is headed. Look at Thomas Paine 2.0, he was called personally by Obama and invited to the White House. Why? Because he was calling Americans to arms, causing the American people to look past Obama, and see whos doing the work behind him. Obama was scared along witht he rest of the administration, so they called him in to try to dis-credit him before the American People know who he is and what he said.

  42. PART 2
This is really all that you can do when you deal with mother nature, there is so much that we still do not understand that, unfortunately, you have to come up with a model/prediction and then sit back and see if it becomes reality and with the new data develop better systems. I wish that there was a better way, but unfortunately lives are going to be lost until our systems/models are exact and that is not going to happen in our lifetime and maybe not in the next. In the mean time, I still have my religion that helps me understand my limitations, and deal with the tragedies every day.

Of course we should not listen to a scientist with hard evidence of shifting plates and seismic activity. But every global warming nut on earth, everyone listens to. I guess we are living in the age of 'too much information.'

  46. lifelibhappi says:

I am so angry that the predictions of that scientist were dismissed!! But that's what most government officials do. They silence the relevant and pertinent facts when it doesn't fit into their own agendas. Government has become too powerful. They are not protecting us; they are serving their own self interests. They mayor of L'Aquila didn't want people to leave his city, so he silenced the scientist predicting the earthquake. We've had many warnings that we could see another attack if we don't secured our borders, and we still haven't done it! Barney Franks dismissed the reports and concerns that Freddie and Fanny were going to have a financial crisis, and all the while he was stuffing his pockets with financial contributions from both of them. The socialists out there don't want us to think for ourselves so they label those with an opposing view (like Glenn and us) as crazy in an effort to dismiss and silence us. Do not be silenced, people!! Our founding fathers put the government in its rightful place; let's get it back there. On April 15th we WILL be heard, but we'll have a lot more work to do. God bless us all.

  47. That is so sad. To think all of the lives that could have been saved had they listened to the warnings of this man.
It is amazing how even after the event they are still dismissing his findings!

  48. comradeobama says:

And this is why absolute freedom of speech, even for those you disagree with, is necessary.

    • NancyNurse says:

Really? When did we get freedom of speech in this country. Sure has not been coming our way in the past 40 years.

    • oldhen says:

YES Comradeobama, Free speech IS absolutely necessary, even for those I disagree with, which is why I gave this comment a "thumbs up". I don't look at your overall rating, I look at the posted comment and judge the comment, not you and not your rating. However, I feel that, more often than not, you purposely antagonize the members of this group. Along with all rights come responsibilities. Freedom of speech carries the responsibility of respect. I respect your right to speak your mind, but not in an inappropriate manner, not in an inappropriate time and not in an inappropriate place. I think many of your posts are inappropriate for this forum, based on your continued antagonistic verbiage. Try to speak your mind while respecting the affect your words are having on the other readers. Respect breeds respect. Right now, you don't have any respect in this forum because you have chosen not to show respect for the rest of us. Consequently, most people don't even bother to read your posts any more. If you want to have someone, at least, consider your point of view, be respectful in what you say and how you say it. Think about what you are going to say before you start running your head (fingers) and be sure you think your responses all the way through. Often your responses are obviously made in anger or frustration and they, therefore, make no sense. You say one thing then immediately contradict yourself. (IE You claimed to be very respectful of the Catholic religion then claimed you don't believe in God. Impossible to have it both ways.) I'm sure you, like the rest of us, are eager to have your voice heard and are passionate about what you believe in. As it should be. But, in case you haven't noticed, the greatest majority of folks posting here are united with an opposing opinion, most of the time. You are not going to, single handedly, change that. Especially when you appear to be totally ignorant of what we are united on because no one will give you the chance. You can type in everything you can think of and it will not matter if no one reads what you write. So, either take the time to educate yourself on what we believe in and post intelligently or don't comment. "Better to stay silent and have people think you are a fool than open your mouth and prove you are a fool." Also, I respect your right to post your beliefs, as passionately as you wish, but not to just stir up trouble. There are forums for you and like minded folks to post. I don't go to your "house" and stir up trouble and I expect the same of you. I have now thrown down the gauntlet. Cease and desist (BE NICE!) or prove you are only here to cause trouble, which will result in no one reading your post(s), thus your voice NOT being heard.

      • Hen, I want to thank you for your level headed response to comradeobama, and for the indirectly beneficial message to all members here.

I'm like most others in the Project who don't appreciate this member's continually insistent attitude and behavior. I feel confident that other likeminded people on this site who exsist only to poke the hornets' nest, solely for their own amusement. One other possible motive could be some delusion of grandeur that mistakenly leads them to believe they're accurately and cogently arguing their misguided opinions, perhaps in the hope of changing the minds of all us silly gun-clingin', Bible readin' conservatives.

Normally, I can skim over members' remarks that follow behind vibrantly red warnings, and move on if/when I see the value of their content. I've been even more successful at entirely ignoring any comment made from a member with a smirking smiley face icon. Today, I wasn't so successful.

I woke up grumpy – as most 85 year old guys do – but I was also waking with the continued sadness and burden of not being there for loved ones; my wife and I have longtime friends who were seriously injured in the quake. They lived in a house Vernon built with his own hands and sweat, just outside of L'aquila. I've been thanking the Lord that Vern's construction background in structural stability was far beyond that of many Italian building contractors.

When I read the article that Glenn had selected for us to read and discuss, I went back to the comments page and started reading. I don't always comment on everything, just some which are important to me. When I read comradeobama's retort – regarding global warming, an off topic thread started when someone accurately likened the silencing of Mr. Giuliani to that of the many scientists who are well aware of the incorrectness of the glowbal warming theory that pervades our mainstream media, and who are kept silent by the powers that be – and felt his glib and underinformed remark had to be addressed.

Instead of simply providing a clear and concise view, I let my emotions take over and let the sill man win by returning his disrespectful tone. I sent my reply, and didn't think about it any further. In the end, though, I read your comments above and totally agree that everyone has the right to say anything under the sun, regardless of how divisive and antagonistic it may be. You helped me get my unemotional mindset back, and reminded me that respect is always necessary in any interpersonal communication.

So, I thank you deeply, Hen. I apologize to you, comrade, for any disrespect in my reply to you earlier – but never in my life will I apologize for the points I made. I know any reasonable member here will see the truth behind the less than respectful tone in my comment.

Nonetheless, I will strive to keep my comments respectful again. I only hope that those on the Project, who only get satisfaction from throwing monkey wrenches into the machine, will eventually see the folly and failure of their remarks to have any constructive contributions, and either find another place to spout their comments, or change their mindset to begin offering legitimately serious and sincere perspectives.

      • comradeobama says:

Cool, thanks for the thumbs up. I try not to insult the posters of this site, unless I am insulted first in a particularly vicious way. And congratulations on catching my double stance on religion.

It would seem to me that the Italian Government owes that scientist an apology, oh, and the other 90+ dead victims. This sounds like how the media is treating Glenn. "Oh that will never happen, your just a fear monger". Which is more easily predicted earthquakes, or civil unrest?

  51. Gregory says:

    Part one.

Is it any wonder that an earthquake has hit a populated area in Italy? That region has been quiet for some time. On 9/12 we where all wondering how this could have happened to us, and the nation pulled together. It seems that the quote from "Star Man" of "you are at your best, when things are their worst" was on the mark. It takes a cataclysmic event to bind people together, yet those bindings are not ever lasting. The people of Italy, along with the world will unite briefly to meet the needs of the present crisis, but over time, the camaraderie and feeling of being part of a family will slacken, and we will start to bicker at one another again.__

I am saddened at the loss of life as anyone else would be, and I can only pray that some, if not all of those affected by this crisis, can remember that feeling of unity, and carry it with them for generations.

  52. Gregory says:

    Part 2

The men and women that study the earth, use complex mathematics and past history to try and predict what is about to happen. These are educated people, that take their jobs seriously. I would not be far off the mark in suggesting a parallel in what Mr. Beck is doing. Just like the man mentioned in the article above, he has predictions based on historical fact, and reasoning. Glenn is a self educated man by his own admission, yet has managed to accurately predict how this nation is turning. Just like the man in the article, Glenn is trying to be silenced by the administration of labels. To say someone is a loon, or a fear monger is one thing, but when the predictions by these so called loons come to play, where is the voice to proclaim them correct?
Keep up the good work Glenn. History is an awesome learning tool.

    • Ashrak says:

Yes, history is a great learning tool. Application of common sense over the imposition of indoctrinated ideological bent is as well.

  53. From what I read this guy didnt even predict the city correctly. He might have predicted correctly or he could be the crazy guy who know just want a claim to fame.

  54. Just as the scientists that prove global warming is a hoax. Pretty bad when the head of the National Weather Service publicly states that any scientist who doesn't believe global warming should lose accredidation. Meaning also funding. As part of the Center’s research on global warming critics, we recorded footage of Stossel giving a closing speech at a gathering of climate change skeptics in NYC in March.

After equating news reports on global warming to fears of killer bees and the Y2K bug, Stossel then criticized coverage of the first day of the conference by the “socialist media,” including The Washington Post, The Independent, and The New York Times.

Then, finished with alerting the audience to the scourge of global warming “scare mongering,” Stossel turned his attention to helping the 400-plus attendees better sell their skepticism to the media. One tip: They should emphasize specific words to get through to “dumb” reporters."

  55. We can be thankful for building standards in America.
With larger earthquakes in CA, we have very fewer deaths. .!.
Still, emergency preparedness and training are very important.

    • OldMarine says:

Yea, but people forget the New Madrid, most of the buildings in the area that this would affect would go bye bye. The last time it "let loose with the big one", it rang bells in NY and made the Mississippi flow backwards. It's still active, we get jolted periodically and I live in Louisville, KY

      • Don’t forget about the monster in Yellowstone. That is a world changing volcano if it lets loose. We are now experiencing an eruption in Alaska that has had very little coverage on the news. We seem to be due for one or more of these three California, New Madres or Yellowstone having a Jello moment soon. The only good thing is if we did get a serious volcano eruption we would not have to worry about global warming the cloud cover would fix that little myth.

I would hate to think that we could be entering a time when a major calamity like one of these areas would have with no money in the bank. But of course our government can always print more. I do really want to know how the treasure got more power than the Congress or the Senate!

In my home parish the unemployment rate is 3.4% . Statewide is 5.7%. That's much better than the national average. If he is sitting on FEMA money it's because the Mayor of New Orleans (D) is too busy trying to figure out how to stay out of jail to tell him where they need the money.

  58. htrn says:

Did Giuliani have any peer reviewed scientific consensus that claimed the earthquake in Italy was going to occur? Did the fact that he did not have any such published papers make him any less right?

I believe that for either side on a scientific argument to dismiss another side based solely on the merits of whether others agree with that person or not is foolish at best and shows a religious zeal to a single side of the argument. And yes, religion is the only way this can be described because ALL of the facts are not being considered as they are presented. Some are given credence while others are dismissed as irrelevant just as was the case in Italy.

  59. russellp says:

Peer reviewed articles on AGW are suppressed and propagandists full of lies and mistakes like Al Gore are promoted The first part of the hoax on global warming is that the science is in and man has created global warming. The truth is that is the PC view. Has the earth warmed up, yes, but there is data that shows not as much as previous thought and that it may not be just CO2 thats causing it.

The second and bigger part of the hoax is that this will be a disaster and we must do something about it now. Warmer weather may actually be a benefit. The real disaster is the economic effects of the proposals on the table now. I am not saying we should not try to have a greener cleaner planet. I am saying that we should do things that make sense and truly benefit all.

Indeed, a lot of smoke has been blown over the last couple of decades and the chief smoke blower is Al Gore.

  61. There are plenty of peer reviewed articles that show "man made" global warming is a hoax. Scientists agree that the Earth has gone through several warming and cooling periods before now with and without the human race and that there is no difinitive evidence to suggest humans are the root of the current temperature cycle (statistical probablility of the statement being true based on unbiased, unmodified data is very low). On the contrary there is much more evidence to suggest that the global temperature cycles are tied exclusively to natural phenomena and the effects of the human race have virtually no impact on the resulting global temperatures. It is great if you want to argue for fresher air in the city, but just leave the whole global warming BS out of it and argue for cleaner air based on improved health of the citizens.

  62. I am not usually one to draw attention to the ignorance of others, for I believe that they do the work for me. This time, however, I can't keep my mouth shut….

If you read even the Headline of this story, let alone any amount of content within the article, you would have realized your statement is nonsensical. I'm sure you're not as uninformed as the bright red number alert next to your name would suggest. However, I think in this case, I have to give you a thumbs down myself.

As the f'…ing article states in the Title, there are many scientists today, and throughout history, who were "muzzled" because the powers that be didn't like the truth. So, hmmmm…

If a scientist can predict an earthquake is coming within a relatively short span of time, but then be forced into silence, so he couldn't even submit a "Peer Reviewed Scientific Article," then I think there is almost a pure certainty that climate scientists who have a politically unpopular views are also being left out of all those "Peer Reviewed Scientific Journals."

I think Mr. Giuliani's move to use loud speakers on vans was a bit over the top – but it is no more melodramatic than having a lift during a speech raise you high above a subjective chart. But I digress, as others have. This is about the earthquake that was plainly giving measurable clues to its arrival, clues that were being heard and understood by a scientist who was not only ignored but forced to remove his findings from public view.

He was silenced, and now over 200 people are DEAD from an "unpredictable" earthquake that also caused a few thousand injuries, and a large number of innocent folk who are still unaccounted for. Uh… er… was Mr. Giuliani's claims a hoax? Tell that to the tens of thousands of now homeless Italians – I dare you.

I'm sure you're scratching your head, maybe because of the lice, or more likely due to confusion about some invisible connection between what I'm saying about this earthquake and the oh so brilliant and "Peer Reviewed" theory of global warming. The connection is obvious, but I understand you need a hand to hold as you're walked through the concept.

One scientist who had something to say, which slapped contemporary scientists' seismic theories, was right but no one knew. There is a strong probability that there is one scientist (or thousands), who slaps the Chicken Little global warming crowd, with an open minded and objective view of the actual data of this issue, as well as a wide open view of said data throughout millenia and beyond. I think there s also, as in Mr. Giuliani's case, a large probability that those scientists who see the big Big picture of climate change, and express the simply logical and well precedent theories they see as correct. But they have just as much chance to be shut out of those precious "Peer Reviewed Scientific Journals."

He who controls information controls the world, my little comrade. Currently, and much to my chagrin, Chicken Little's flock has the eyes of the world on them, and when logical counters to their global warming THEORIES pop into the frame, they are edited out with that little black box that hides nudity for the sake of the innocent kiddies.

So, and I hope you can comprehend this: any perceived absence of articles that disagree with the current fad of liberal environmental extremist rhetoric screaming, "The sky is falling!" is in no way even a suggestion that there aren't opposing theories from scientists on the same level of intelligence and a higher level of integrity.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence, whether it is an actual killer earthquake, or a politically motivated loosely threaded theory that just happens to be popular.

No really, it's true, haven't you heard? Global warming is responsible for all of the record low temperatures and snow fall right now. All those peer reviewed articles say so, even if they're rather sketchy on how that works. I've got to get bundled up to shovel the snow in this lovely 19 degree weather so I can get ready to hide Easter eggs.

  65. chevy400 says:

yah… global warming huh? i bet that explains the high tempertures here. 54 degrees is hot for daytona beach florida??????

  67. Adept says:

First of all, comparing atmospheric science with geological is asinine in the extreme. We can send blimps, track via satellites etc for all our atmospheric needs. No known technology we possess today is capable of reaching the depths and temperatures involved in the geological phenomenon known as earthquakes. The technology doesn't exist.

Regardless of what the article says, and yes I did read it, I also read about 10 others from other sources which were much better informed than this tripe, what this "scientist" did wasn't acceptable. Without permission from local authorities he began telling everyone to EVACUATE. This first of all wasn't his responsibility and second of all, as a scientist should have known his methods were not accurate or reliable.

I can sit on a street corner and scream for everyone to flee because a crash is coming and if I do it long enough, eventually one will happen. All this guy did was sit on a fault line and then tell people "Look see I was right!" when one went off a long time into the future.

I grew up in CA and have dealt with quakes my whole life. For the better part of 15 years we've been told the big one is coming. If it does, you can bet there will be 200 scientists all climbing over each other to blame the government for not acting on their "science."

All this article is doing is pointing fingers and laying blame on HUMANS for NATURAL phenomenon. It's like all the blame on government for the tsunamis a few years back.

Bad things happen. If you want to assign blame, then assign it to the morons who built on fault lines and did it with sub-standard building codes. Don't run around screaming about a junk-scientist who claims to predict the end of the world.

We all get a little p.o.'d and raise our voices once in a while, and frankly if more people had gotten p.o.'d and raised their voice more often America wouldn't be where it is today.

  76. Thanks, spade. I spent the first 84 years of my life as a very calm, stoic man who wasn't easily irritated by anything or anyone. Since about this time last year, however, each day passes, and each news program ends, and I get more frustrated. It's not just that, but also an increasing level of sadness and a sense of loss – my beloved country is being chipped away piece by piece…

When I was born, we lived in a tiny apartment in NYC, and my parents had only been in America for a few years. They left Armenia when the hell-bound Turks and Kurds rained down storm after storm of genocidal slaughter. They spent a little while in Germany, then heard of the New Life that could be made across the sea, in America. My father had fought against several soldiers during the first rounds of extermination, when he was a teenager, and killed almost a dozen, but received a permanent injury to his leg.

So, as I grew into a young lad, my father had a hard time keeping work because his damaged leg would intermittently make it almost impossible to walk. He never stopped trying, to the day he died. Then I became man of the house at 11. We eventually moved to Indiana, and my mother took over a general store. We were forever to carry the burdens of our family's beginnings, but we had a hand of help with those burdens through the wonder-cure that is The American Dream.

I became a Marine to insure the Dream would live on in the face of all enemies foreign and domestic. Now, as I sit here with an ironically lamed leg and countless scars, I fear so much that our dreams and way of life are slipping through our fingers.

This country saved my family's life, and I risked my life with that debt we all owe to Liberty forever in my mind all the days I wore the uniform, and each day since. With the slow crumbling of our nation's foundations being shown proudly on my television set, and mindlessly abhorrent and deliberately dishonoring remarks being tossed about a site dedicated to healing the wounds America has suffered from within, I just want to scream. I just want to tell all these parasites on here every word they deserve to hear. I just want to raise my traditionally soft voice to a deafening roar that echoes from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

    Spade, I am p.o.'d.

True American Voices, unfortunately, aren't enough anymore. They are true and pure and favored by the Lord – but they are drowned out in the sea of bastards who have overcome our media, our government, and now our one good respite within the posts of this site. Outside these pages, there is nothing but red stained footprints left by the parasites here, out there, and our leadership, who all have trampled all over the spilled blood that once stood as a sacred and honored sacrifice.

I didn't want to become like those who fill this site with rancor and strife. However, within just a few days of being a member, I stooped to disrespect and spite, in response to the shameful comments that serve as perfect evidence that there are many individuals exist in this country, who do not deserve the sacrifices made on their behalf. I now debate whether I should continue here, or turn my back on yet another good thing that was violated and raped by insolence. I can no longer fight the enemy of today, I am too old, and they are too many.

Whatever I choose, spade, you are a good young man. Don't stop encouraging the weary and jaded, as you did for me. Your outlook and the sacred honor of your service is a wonderful, yet endangered, thing in this world.

I MISS GEORGE , I thank you for your support. Yes I am in my mid twenties. I am a rare breed amongst my generation. Well maybe just a rare breed period. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to save this nation and to securing a future for our children. I may not win this fight, but I'll die trying if it comes to that. I invite you my friend to join us in our battle. As individuals we will be broken, as a group we will be strong and we will be heard. The old rope of many strands analogy. Stand with us, speak with us, pray with us, and fight with us. God bless you and yours.

Do you mean ACORN, you that group that is to elections, what the Mafia is to organized crime. By the way, noticed you haven't heard too much about the voter fraud charges in 15 states against ACORN. Gee $2 billion + of tax payer's money sure buys a lot of silence

  80. oldhen says:

    Aspade,
You are no doubt a very wise, honorable, and noble young man. If you are the definition of a rare breed, then that's what I want to be when I grow up! (I'm probably 2X your age! My youngest child is 27!) With any luck, by the time I'm up there in age with Patriot, I might be getting close.
I have 1 word (actually it's a name) for you. . .St.Telemachus. If you don't know his story, I wish you would google him and read his story, if you do know his story I need not say more. But he is best described as "One little man, One tiny voice, One BIG God."
He took on nearly the entire Roman population, all by himself, and he lost his life, but he was victorious in the battle. Please do not sell yourself, Patriot, and every other tru-blu American short! EVERY voice is powerful, even when sounding alone. (Ever had a baby screaming at 2:00AM? Or in a crowded, but quiet, church service? Man, that's Powerful!!!) But your voices are NOT alone. Not now, not ever, at least as long as I can draw a breath.
"But here's the one thing". . . No matter how weak and weary you may grow, when you don't think anyone is REALLY hearing you, know that God hears you and he wants only good for you, and not that I will be able to hear ya, I WILL still be praying for you.
I have added new names to my daily prayer list. They are: Aspade, PrplHrt_Patriot, and I_Miss_George. I do not know these people, probably never will, but I believe their hearts are true, so, I believe, God does know them and will watch over them and prosper them.
    Forever in my Prayers!

To Patriot and to Aspade, I for one salute you 2 gentlemen for your service. I also want to encourage you gentlemen with this statement. When our forefathers started off on the trek to break from a repressive government of Britain they were many then that were speaking as the devils do today and I am sure that our forefathers were depressed at times and I am also sure they got down on there knees to our living God and probably asked him if this was the right thing to do. In return God gave them perseverance and by and through the Almighty's help WE WON in spite of the weaklings that were present in that day.
Stand strong and as a once great president said, "speak softly but carry a big stick"!

Starwings, with all due respect, forgive me for not seeing the humor. Guess I'm just taking this whole. . . "America down the tubes" thing a bit too seriously! I'm one of those crazy, gun toting, bible thumping, ne'er do well conservatives! Yep, guilty of all of the above! So. . . Do you think it would be remotely possible for there to be some tiny little indication that a post is supposed to be humorous? Cause I guess I'm just too dumb to pick the humor out of that. Anyway, thank you soooo much for calling that to my attention because, well, I just need help getting the humor in your statement and now, hopefully, I won't make that horrible mistake again! I was going to ask you, in my first post, if you were young and blond but decided against that. I was going to put it because it, kinda, seemed, I don't know, kinda humorous, but then I decided that I shouldn't reply with humor to such a serious comment. Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit if it wouldn't have been appropriate!
Once again, And it still isn't enough, THANK YOU for setting me straight on what is humorous. this is my lucky day! 8~b

AMEN to the critters!! You are absolutely right! Wildlife is not stupid. It's called natural instincts. They do what they have to do to survive the nature of things and they know weather changes. If you watch wildlife, you can tell if they think it will be a mild or cold winter, by the way they behave, hunt for food stores, etc.

I am a HUGE Snow crab eater and I remember when that happened and they were scarce. After that cycle of weather, they came back and the market was fine again and I was back to filling my belly with snow crab.

They want everyone to think the Polar Bears are becoming extinct because of this fake Global Warming crap to keep the environmentalists in an uproar to have an excuse NOT to drill in ANWR.

It's all political to get PORK allocated for their stupid projects, and to continue to sell us out for foreign oil to line the rest of the worlds pockets. They don't want to put an end to foreign oil like they say. IF they did, they'd do it and DRILL HERE & NOW!

You forgot it was all Pres. Bush's fault. Hate to say, I feel its going to get worst, too many people want the \”free\” stuff, but like I was taught, \”There is no such thing as a free lunch\”. There are people who believe that with 0, they are going to get all kinds of programs because the mean old \”rich\” people will be taxed and that money will come to them. Well, one day they are going to wake up and realize they are no longer free, but a slave to the state. If they don't obey the state, they won't get the programs. When they try to break out, the jobs are gone, the rich people are no longer rich and their businesses are gone. Unfortunately that's way its been and its going to get worst.

The point is China and India both said go to hell they arent voting for it. So we will be the only ones punishing the people and it will do squat for global warming. Europe tried this same crap and it was a dismal failure. It just cost the citizensd through the nose so it was stopped.

  94. RonL11 says:

There may be, but even the smart ones that moved to Idaho, Montana, Utah Oregon and Washington checked their brains at the state line. they still bitch about smoking, they still pay so much for land that the locals cant afford to live there anymore, they still brought their liberal views with them instead of blending into the neighborhood they always want to change it.
    That is the problem.

Taxes are stuck on the locals so hard they have to move to make room for more Californians. When they sell a house for 500,00 and move toss Libby Montana, and buy a comparable one for like 100,000 that last week was 50,000 until the Realtor found out where they were from it just destroys the property values on the locals. I have seen property taxes increase as much as 500% in 10 years because of it. My Dad bought a place on Georgetown lake 50 years ago and he is 85 and on SS. He now has to move because his taxes are more than he paid for it in the first place and he is 85, That is wrong..Thank you Robert Redford!
