Again, a benighted approach to the question. I never claimed that the phrase "separation of church and state" are in the constitution.
However, the separation of church and state is a label for the principle articulated by other language found in more than one place in the constitution:the establishment clause and the language of Section VI, which I cited above. This is the same as saying "There are nouns in the constitution." Even though the word noun does not appear in the constitution, there clearly are nouns in the document.
What's the mystery? Separation of church and state is simply an analytical term that labels a principle encapsulated in multiple areas in the document.

My original question delt directly with this quote and you felt compelled to answer it in your typical SPIN. "Seperation of Church and State" IS a direct quote from one of our founding fathers (Probably the most famous) however taken out of context by the Left. You are correct that it is NOT in the founding papers anywhere. Your generalization of the topic is typical. NOWHERE can you show me that the founding fathers wanted Christian Principles seperated from government. They just wanted "A" Church never to be established by the Government. This is because of the history of the Church of England and their purpose to get away from an oppressive anti-free choice government.

Yes, I know the quote, but the discussion is about the Constitution – if you want to bring in the Danbury quote then you have an even harder time proving your point that the founders believed the Union to be founded on "Christian Principles" – a reeeeally nebulous phrase, by the way.
What strikes me when I read the Consty is the radical difference between the Bill of Rights and the Decalogue. To me, one doesnt have anything to do with the other. If the founders wanted a "Christian nation" why didn't they just repeatedly reference the New Testament as a source of authority? I believe that, as people of their time, they saw the ultimate source of authority in each person's ability to reflect rationally on how to create the best possible society and to participate in that process, without bending to religious or any other authority.
Folks on this site seem preoccupied with governmental authority, but want to suggest that there is a seamless overlap between (their conception of) religious authority and the original idea of the union. Not so.
The birth certificate doesn't matter to disqualify! To be a NB Citizen you have to be born to 2 american citizen parents period! He is disqualified on that point alone! Where he was born is only important to see if he is a citizen at all, as his mother was too young when she gave birth to confer her citizenship upon him. How the DNC ever let him run is beyond me. I think this fight is very valid, Obama has paid lawyers one million dollars so far to fight these suits in court, why would he do that if he weren't vulnerable?He would just release his papers, no?

Glenn Beck gave us access to this site in order to talk together and meet with like-minded American citizens. It's up to us to decide where this goes from here. If the internet suddenly goes dead…or doesn't allow us to come to this site…what have we really accomplished?? Only through the strength of many can our cause be considered seriously by the politicians. What should we do to bring this to the light of day? The Tea Parties are great, but not everyone has access to one. How do we take this to the next level….off the internet???
I think we're all in here kind of amazed with what's going on in the government, but sort of hoping other politicians will step in and do the right thing. Unfortunately, it looks like we really are on our own….that ALL the politicians must be corrupt. Some are saying that Obama is doing illegal things, but none are standing up to him in any way that I can see. ALL our politicians must be paid by the same people who want to bring our country down. I'm concerned that Obama and his corrupt friends have had MORE than enough time to produce a "valid" birth certificate for Obama. They have hired the most corrupt people they can find, and they've had complete access to ALL the government's machinery. I believe a muslim policy is that children become muslims if their father is a muslim. Although Obama's mom was a Christian, his father and stepfather were muslims. I'm thinking there's a document SOMEWHERE proving Obama is a muslim. That may be what's listed on his "missing" birth certificate. Israel should be very afraid. Obama's attitude is that we will all follow him (since we LOVE him…..worship him) and turn our lives to Allah, like all good muslims do.
I believe Obama's mother was an atheist. Obama also was a Muslim during his Indonesian years as his mother married a Muslim.Obama only joined a Christian Church during his community organizing days, because the community he was trying to help were very faith based and he wanted to pander to them. Maybe because all the story showed is that some people hired to register new voters were purposely faking voter registration cards. What has not been shown and, I believe, won't be shown is that ACORN as an organization conspired to organize voter fraud either locally or across the United States – that's why it's not a national story, in the same way that the NYTs usually doesn't report petty crimes that occur in Peoria.

This whole "getting rid of all the nukes" ploy is nothing more than another example of saying what you think your audience at the time wants to hear. It's an unattainable pipe dream and Obama knows it.
Even IF the nations with nuclear capability got all chummy and agreed, even if ( in some candy coated alternative universe) they all actually DID get rid of them…how long would it last? The knowledge on how to build them will always exist.
To say "we will get rid of all the nukes" is as foolish as announcing we will now go back to fighting with clubs and tossing rocks when we go to war. Before you know it, one side or the other gets tired of getting the smack down and will build a better "mousetrap" and the cycle simply begins once more.
We cannot go back to the days before the atomic bomb was invented. We cannot unlearn how to build them. The threat of nuclear war is a terrible and terrifying fact of life. All we can do is leave them just as they are…….as a deterrent, as a final defense if all else fails. Obama knows this, he cannot be that naive.

I have been on this project for over three weeks now, I still feel we are on to something. I guarantee you will come away with a whole new understanding of government. As I see it the "appeasers of our enemies" and the "I'm entitled to your money crowd" do not agree with anything that the common sense crowd says, so I say try not to argue common sense with irrational views of others. I will admit that if you think Sandra Day O'Connor was anything but a conservative, then we have very different definitions of what conservatism and liberalism is.
But nice way to avoid the basic question, which is where does the state's rights rhetoric go anytime a conservative doesn't like a social policy? The reason for the attempt to bring a constitutional admendment into being for "Sactity of Marriage" is because of Judical activism. I.e. California Supreme Court and now the Iowa Supreme Court declairing a vote of the people (Remember it is the people that are the ultimate power and their vote, (you know that extemperanious document the constitution) to be unconstitutional. The motto of the left is, if it cannot be had through the legislative process (or a vote of the people) then we will force our will through the courts. Look if a cause is true and just, then set about to win hearts and minds through hard work and dilligence and the legislative/ballot processes. Do not force a small group's will upon the majority it only causes hatred.
Ummm, the topic under discussion is the SCOTUS decision handing the Presidency to Bush, in which O'Connor ruled with the majority.

To make a statement of elimination of a large invested defense for all countries involved is arrogant or setting himself up for more than 4 years. It is almost as though he has to have approval from everyone, not that he is doing the right thing. The arrogance behind belief that one man can influence such diverse complicated countries of people without even having an established a relationship with them is beyond words.
Like raising a child or a child that has engaged in wrong behavior or activities, they do not change their path by a parents mere words, but over time with great love and respect. To change the mindset of another is not in ones power, but to stand for what you believe in is in ones power. So when putting down what America believes in and has accomplished is to only give Americas power away. A house divided will fall.
There has been a lot of talk wit hthese posts concerning Reagan and his arms-reduction talks. I don't want to call Reagan's policies into question. This is a slightly different issue. With Reagan everyone understood where he stood and they agreed, and so did Russia, that the arms-race was a no-win situation. Obama is an unknown, and we all fear what we don't understand. I don't think that Obama will completely disarm our military of all nuclear weapons. But I could be wrong. I don't know enough about the man, he never lets anyone see who he truly is. Iran and North Korea are not Russia either. I don't think that you can successfully negotiate with either country. Their leaders are extremists. Extremists cannot be bargained with, they don't want to bargain. I also do not believe that Iran and North Korea are acting alone. Russia has too much to gain with a destabilization or elimination of the US as a world power.
What is the Pentagon saying about this? Anything? Except slashing their budget? If we disarm, we lose. But Obama is so naive, he'll be utterly shocked if we get nuked. He'll scream: they lied to me! They made promises and they didn't keep them (waa-waa-waa). His naivety is greater than a five-year-old's. Since our politicians get their positions based on how much money others donate to them; they are owned by those with the big bucks. Some of the people making donations aren't even members of the USA. Obama had many foreign contributors. McCain probably had foreign donations; his case wasn't as publicized as Obama's because there was outrage about terrorists (who possibly donated to Obama's campaign) wanting Obama to win the Presidency. The sad thing is that ALL the political candidates may be guilty of owing their contributors special favors (and votes) just because they feed money to the candidates. That puts ALL OF US at risk. Where does the allegiance of our politicians truly lie? Without changes in the way politicians win elections, We, the People, have no idea of what our officials are really going to do once they're placed in Office. There's so much corruption now that it's frightening. That's why we need to vote in some HONEST people who will answer to us. We just have to find these people, NOT BASED ON DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN LABELS, and do what we have to in order to get them into Office. Time is short; we have to act NOW!
There has to be a provision for getting Obama out of office. He may have the power right now, but his actions and words can be used against him. I don't understand why Fox News, all of whom seem distressed by Obama's words and actions, don't have a solution about how to get Obama removed from Office. Some on Fox News are talking about how Obama has shut down the Constitution, yet they offer no legal solution. They have the resources and the bucks, but they offer no hope for solving this crisis. Will we just watch TV and listen to Fox News count off all our canceled rights, or are we going to take action before it's too late??? Obama has never ever showed his papers or ID ever, and he hired tons of laywers to seal all his records shut. Why?, He said for privacy reasons. He is a public figure! I think that this is the only door open to us as the Democratic Congress will not ever impeach him. Obama told the UN to give sanctions to North Korea because of the missile launch, but Obama's new friends, China and Russia, voted against it. Therefore, North Korea is receiving not even a handslap from the world. This shows ONCE AGAIN, as if we hadn't already known it, that the UN is a huge joke. Yet, the UN wants to lead the world and take away the US's power. We can NOT allow that to happen. Citizens of the US have been shouting for years that the UN needs to be thrown out of the US and that the US needs NOT to belong to it. We need to make that a reality. Commonly misread by secularist as saying that God has no place in government when the exact opposite is true. First off, the Founders defined religion as "Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim" etc. They did not want a state sponsored religion like England had with the C of E. Religiousness, however, was believed by the Founders to be a requisite for a free society. I could run more than a few quotes here, but a simple bit of logic that the Founders used should suffice.
We are granted by our Creator (God) with certain unalienable rights – life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. If God is taken out of that statement then who will be the one to grant us these rights? Someone else? Government? And if they granted them, they can surely take them away. Even if you were an anthiest, wouldn't you rather some "imaginary" supreme being granted you those rights rather than the government?

The separation runs only one way – government is to have no influence on religion, but religion is expected to have an influence on government. Liberals tend to foget whih way the power is meant to flow. In all argument, the federal government was meant to have the least amount of power.
